We have classified the 679 complaints from 2015 Jeep Cherokee about POWER TRAIN into the following categories.
Transmission will intermittently shift erratic. starting out from a stop it will have a difficult time starting to move with the accelerator pressed, then 1 or 2 seconds later it will down sift to first gear causing the vehicle to lurch forward in an uncontrolled manner. i have ended up in the wrong lane because of this. also at intersections it causes confusion when trying to go in turn with other vehicles because they think your yielding when the vehicle won't move but then it lurches abruptly into a new collision.
Vehicle will not accelerate properly. turning right into traffic car loses power almost hit. this has happened on several occasions. the car has spent over a month since in the shop. i am told that there is a transition issue with the computer that they cannot fix. i'm scared to drive my new car not knowing when it will decide to go or not.
Tl* the contact owns a 2015 jeep cherokee. the contact stated that the vehicle was taken to the dealer for the manufacturer's "long term reliability of the transmission/drive train performance" campaign. the vehicle was repaired under the reliability campaign and the dealer was to update/recalibrate the transmission. after the repair, while driving various speeds, there was a lag in acceleration when the accelerator pedal was depressed. the contact also noticed that the gears would not shift properly while driving uphill or at a traffic light and the vehicle would roll backwards independently. the vehicle was taken to the dealer where they stated that the transmission needed to be re-calibrated. the vehicle was repaired; however, the failure persisted and became worse. the vehicle was taken back to the dealer where the transmission was re-calibrated again and eventually replaced; however, the failure persisted. the contact stated that the failure had not occurred until the vehicle was initially taken to the dealer. the manufacturer was notified of the failures. the approximate failure mileage was 3,200. the vin was unavailable. ....updated 11/02/15*bf the consumer stated the vehicle was declared a lemon. updated 11/05/15. *jb
I had to had my transmission replaced at 8000 miles, after a short period of the car shifting hard and slipping (less than 2 days). they tried to replace numerous parts that did not fix the issue. at 52000 miles i began having hard shifting issues again. the next day i got a service stop/start technology warning light. the next day the light came on again and had rough idol, service engine light came on. i took it to the dealer (key chrysler, xenia, oh) they replace an ignition switch yet still can't figure out the problem. the shifting issues occur mostly during two scenarios, accelerating uphill, the transmission would slip and then shift hard. second would be if you have to decelerate (slowing down for red light), then have to accelerate without stopping (red light turns green) the car would hard shift. this was the same issues that preceded taking the car to the dealer for service and car not working properly. the first incident caused the car to go into "safe mode" which nearly lead to me be involved in an accident as i was crossing an inetersection and was unable to drive more than 10-15 mph, creating a very unsafe situation. i put the approximate date (as best as i can remember) of the first situation below. the second occurred on 8/7/16 with around 52000 miles on car
The transmission in this car has serious problems which render the car unpredictable and unsafe. on leaving from a signal after a full stop there is no response after stepping on the accelerator - the car does not move and then suddenly lurches forward. this happens frequently but not always. also, leaving from a full stop, sometimes the vehicle takes right off and then bogs down completely which is very hazardous when in oncoming traffic or turning a corner. in addition stepping on the accelerator while on the road to pass a car there is often no response from the transmission and then suddenly the transmission takes hold. again, frequent but not all the time. on putting the car into reverse the rear end and transmission have a load banging clunk and then take hold with a lurch. on a downslope there is no slowing of the vehicle via the transmission and the brakes have to constantly be applied. between 20 ' 40 mph the vehicle often speeds up when we take our foot off of the accelerator. the transmission is completely unpredictable making it totally unsafe to operate the vehicle dependably. we have taken our jeep into the dealer 6 times but they are unable to make any improvement and in fact all issues are getting more frequent and pronounced.
The vehicle constantly shifts hard, or does not shift when supposed to. constant jerking of vehicle when speeding up. sometimes will not downshift when going down hill. this is a constant problem every time i drive the vehicle. i have had it back to the dealer several times, and they will do "computer updates", but it does not help.
Purchased new 2015 cherokee trailhawk, late november 2014. in february, per chrysler, dealer reprogrammed module in transmission, had my vehicle a full day (8 hours ) in order to perform this service. after that, transmission started acting up, hard shifting at low speeds, slipping, would catch and spin the tires, doesn't seem to downshift at appropriate speeds, even rolled backwards on a slight incline when in drive. took back for service, supposedly reprogrammed again 2 times, but said they couldn't do anything else as no "codes" had come up. that was 5 more hours in shop. nothing changed, took truck back in on 3/19/2015. this time they kept my truck for 3 days, filed a claim with chrysler, who supposedly told them to grease the electrical fittings on the transmission, saying that would fix the problem. obviously more than that, or truck wouldn't have been there that long. drove truck away only to have the same problems all over again. now what to do? did research only to find out chrysler has had and continues to have nothing but problems with this transmission since its inception in 2013. something needs to be done about this, as of now i don't know what to do, or course of action to take. it obviously doesn't do any good to take in for service, as nothing changes, not to mention the time and trouble it takes ( they have had my vehicle for at least 37 working hours now ) it appears that chrysler intends to do nothing to fix the problem, and that is not right! it's a shame to have a new vehicle with 7000 miles on it that drives as if it was 10 years old. the government needs to look into this matter and hold chrysler accountable for this defect. *tr
A few weeks after i purchased this jeep 2015 cherokee, i noticed that upon deceleration and braking, as the transmission went from one gear to a lower gear, the car would accelerate in the lower gear, lunging the car forward. though this hasn't caused an accident, i believe it could in certain situations. i have taken the vehicle to the chrysler dealership twice now. the first time they reloaded the computer software; they told me that it had the latest software, but they reloaded it just to make sure there were no issues. the problems actually got worse with the reloaded software. the transmission will also "clunk" from time to time when changing gears, even when i am stopped and change from drive to reverse, reverse to park, or drive to park. *tr
My cherokee has been having transmission problems since i bought it in november. at first i was told that it was just the transmission learning how to shift but then it kept shifting rougher and rougher. i brought it in when i got the oil changed, expressed my concerns, they did the recall, the problem wasn't fixed. then they re-calibrated it and that didn't fix the problem. next they replaced the entire transmission, unfortunately i'm having the same issues. the car now has 8,800 miles and it still doesn't run right. i spent 30 thousand on a vehicle and i have spent week after week back and forth to the dealership. i also have filed a lemon law claim but as usual chrysler is slow to respond. this transmission should never have been released. it's now at the point where the vehicle jerks severely sometimes when it shifts. *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2015 jeep cherokee. while driving various speeds, the power train failed to operate as intended. the contact stated that the vehicle shifted improperly between second and third gears. while stopped at a traffic light, the vehicle remained in third gear. the vehicle was taken to the dealer to be diagnosed. the contact stated that the power train software was updated on five occasions; however, the remedy failed to repair the failure. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 75.
2015 jeep cherokee 2.4l. jeep has less than 200 miles. car was brought in for service due to sudden acceleration while decelerating at approximately 25 mph. car would slightly accelerate and the rpm's would jump from around 1400 to 2000 without my foot on the gas pedal. dealer service department had the car for 1.5 days and said that i had the most recent "flash" after driving off the lot the issue still exists. car will lunge/accelerate and rpm's jump while decelerating and foot is off the gas pedal. *tr
Bought my 2015 jeep cherokee in november 2014. began having a very loud, annoying rattle coming from back seat and transmission issues in february of 2015. the transmission surges when you start the car, it clunks after you turn the car off, sometimes the car won't go when you give it gas and then it will kick in and be like a turbo boost pushing the car forward. it's a huge safety concern. you have to be careful when making turns when there is oncoming traffic because you may push the gas but the car may not go like it should or could jump forward and cause you to reared someone when taking off from a red light. it's been in the shop 5times for the backseat and 3 times for the transmission ( just put it back in the shop yesterday). they have reprogrammed the transmission twice and i don't know what they do to the seat - they put some tape on the metal or something like that but it of course didn't fix it. this is a horrible vehicle and i traded out of a vehicle with negatively equity and after all the issues tried to trade out of it but the car has lost nearly $10,000 in value in less than a year leaving me stuck with this unsafe vehicle. i am scared to drive this vehicle on the highway where you must travel at high rates of speed. in august of 2015. i was stopped at a red light, light turned green, all the cards began moving forward. i pushed the gas which with the transmission issue the car kicks toward pretty hard when you take off and the car in front of me stopped abruptly and i tapped the back of the person's car. it was very insignificant and i was not even ticketed but of course the other driver is now making a personal injury claim and i truly believe if the transmission in this car did not surge forward when you first push the gas i probably would not have even tapped this vehicle!
Tl* the contact owns a 2015 jeep cherokee. when the ignition was turned to the on position, the vehicle would not shift out of park. the contact stated that the brake lights illuminated without the brake pedal being depressed. the failure recurred numerous times. the vehicle was taken to a dealer where the diagnosis was unknown. the vehicle was repaired but the failure recurred. the manufacturer as made aware of the failure. the failure mileage was approximately 2,500.
2015 jeep cherokee latitude. fwd 2.4l engine. car shifted extremely hard at low speeds/gears. car would lunge and accelerate while car was decelerating. acceleration and lunging/shifting was occurring while foot was off the gas pedal. *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2015 jeep grand cherokee. the contact stated that the horn failed to function. the vehicle was taken to a dealer where they diagnosed that the air bag needed to be replaced. the vehicle was repaired, but the failure recurred. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure. the failure mileage was 4,700. updated 02/12/16*lj the consumer stated two lower gears in the transmission failed. the manufacturer is buying the vehicle back, as the second transmission was beginning to exhibit problems. updated 03/08/16.*jb
Purchased 2015 cherokee in january, 2015. first recall in feb 2015. software update for transmission and rapid response transmittal. shifting problems started shortly after update. hesitation from a stop; delayed start and then "takes off"; surging forward without foot on gas; shifts up when coming to a stop with foot on brake; clunking noise started at 7000 miles. took it in for recalls on airbag and radio security and told dealer about transmission issues. was originally told they would have jeep for 2 hours. 7 hours later they called to tell me they did several software updates (ptu, rdm, dtcm, pcm, bcm); when i went to pick it up i asked for details on each update. frustrated when i was told it would "take some time for the car to learn my driving habits." i asked, "what happens when i am teaching my kids how to drive (twins that will be driving in a month)?" the service tech told me that "the transmission would be really confused." i expressed my concern for safety. told him i never know when it is going to accelerate on its own or hesitate with a 5 second or longer delay. i asked how that could be safe when teaching kids how to drive. he didn't have an answer. just said, "i understand your concern." i have only driven it about 20 miles since the updates. now it shifts quickly through the first 3 gears, still hesitates, and rough shifting. keeping detailed records now. i've had my jeep for 7 months (7000 miles) with 3 actual recalls, and 6 software updates that weren't recalls, just performed based on my complaints. the issues with this transmission are a safety hazard, especially when sitting at an intersection waiting to make a left hand turn and never knowing how the jeep will respond...this isn't safe for an experienced driver. how can anyone safely put a new driver into a car that has these types of issues?
Transmission does not shift properly. starts out in 3ed gear going 5mph then will slam hard into a lower gear. i am on my 3rd case with corporate and still not fix. been to 2 differ.ent dealers for repair/fix trouble all stared when they did the r01 software update.
After 8 prior service visits in the about 3 mos i had owned my jeep, i had to have my transmission replaced due to unintended acceleration, surges/lunging when braking, rpm spikes and check engine light coming on. during the replacement of my transmission, chrysler came out with an transmission flash update to the jeep and it was applied to my new transmission. as i got to drive the jeep with the new transmission, i started to find issues where i would press the gas and the jeep would drift forward before it would engage in gear. it caused a couple close calls of panic when i realized there was cars getting close to me. i was also experiencing lack of pick up after i accelerated to at least 3rd gear and then slowed down. it was very difficult to make it up small hills. i then realized the jeep was not downshifting from 3rd gear unless you came to a complete stop, so you in essence are starting out in 3rd gear on rolling stops, and slow speeds. this has caused a safety issue with almost being rear ended. i have taken the jeep in 3 times with this complaint. on my 3rd visit, i took my complaint to the dealer and rode with a shop manager. when we experienced this issue, he stated the jeep was driving as intended. i said i don't think anyone is designing a transmission that does not downshift so you are struggling to accelerate in low speeds because you are bogged down in 3rd gear. i made a complaint with my jeep case mgr. my jeep case mgr got the regional mgr involved and after working with the dealer, he said there is no change they can make to the transmission, it is shifting as designed i had others with jeeps cherokee's complain about the same issue. just because they may have "designed" the trans to not shift into 2nd gear does not mean that it isnt a safety issue. jeep will not address this obvious safety issue. *tr
It appears i've gotten the transmission bug that seems to be going around. one month old 2015 trailhawk v6 automatic with 738 miles on it. started the car(2-7-2015) and notification came on dashboard that read, "service transmission," "4wd deactivated," "remote start deactivated,' "and put car into park then shift to desired gear." i managed to get the jeep rolling and drove directly to dealership. i talked to the service rep this morning(2-9-2015), and before he could say anything, i told him it was the tcm. he actually laughed because i knew every problem. i guess best case scenario is that the reset works. if not i'm sure there will be a tcm replacement. worst case scenario is the transmission needs to be replaced, and at that point, they can keep it. *tr
When accelerating from a stop, the transmission will slip for 2 seconds before it engages, causing the vehicle to jerk forward very sharply.
2015 cherokee latitude 4 cyl. have had vehicle for 2 months, during this time the transmission has had a mind of its own. accelerating during braking, which in and of itself is extremely dangerous as it has happened while slowing to make a turn, if you need to turn at 10 mph and the car accelerates past 25 you are looking at an accident waiting to happen. lag in downshift while trying to accelerate, loud un explained clunk while placing into park, numerous engine warning light activations. called local dealer and was informed that i needed to wait a few days to see if warning light resets itself before bringing in. the transmission never seems to actually shift into 9th gear, which inturn hampers the fwy mileage claims associated with this vehicle. ive noticed the transmission temperature exceed 240 degrees on numerous times, this cannot be good. i will be taking vehicle to dealer, hopefully in an effort to get this resolved. with all of the reviews and problem, will it take an unfortunate fatality for chrysler to actually resolve this, as in the case of the toyota acceleration problems? *tr
I bought my jeep one month ago. recently i noticed that engine revs up and accelerates by itself as i am trying to stop. i have to control this by pressing the break a little harder. i am afraid i will rear end another car. i had no idea this problem was so common. now i wish i hadn't purchased this vehicle. *js
Tl*the contact owns a 2015 jeep cherokee. the contact stated that while decelerating in order to come to a stop, the vehicle would experience unintended acceleration and lunge forward. the vehicle was taken to the dealer who diagnosed that the transmission was faulty. the transmission was replaced and the transmission software was updated but the failure continued to occur. the vehicle was taken back to the dealer who replaced the transmission a second time and updated the software but the vehicle continued to experience the failure. the manufacturer was notified of the failures. the failure mileage was 300.
When braking to a stop the vehicle suddenly accelerates launching it forward with the brake applied.the transmission slams into 1rst gear just before coming to a stop after that making the vehicle slide to a stop. the problem continued to get worse. was told by dealer on 2/10/ 2015 that surge was inherent in these vehicles with this trans missions. there are no check engine lights on or warning lights for this problem.we have been pushed trough intersections in front of logging trucks and narrowly missed getting hit ,the last time we hit a snow bank across the road at a 3 way stop and damaged the front spoiler when we bounced off. the 2nd problem is the complete loss of power with the engine running,it will stop going forward at any speed and will not accelerate even to the floor. the engine remains running but there is no go.the only way to get going is to stop, turn off ignition and restart. then it will only go a few miles and do it again.the service transmission light come on when this happens.we lost power at an off/ entrance ramp on the freeway and could not get out of the way on an overpass with no shoulder as it was banked with snow.again we narrowly missed by large trucks and other vehicles. that was the first time this problem started and found out you have to shut the vehicle off to regain power, but that only last for 10 minutes of driving till it does it again.the vehicle was taken to don's auto clinic in cadillac michigan march 2nd, they called and did a computer recall up date and took it for a test drive and it launched the tech through an intersection also . there were no codes for the incident and they have contacted chrysler about the problem. i told the vehicle is dangerous and can not be drove safely. the last incident happened on 3/1/2015. *tr
When idling after a 20 minute drive, the "service transmission" warning and the "check engine lamp" came on and wouldn't turn off. i managed to drive slowly home - it was about 20f and snowing - in a deserted area. very bad situation. *tr
Transmission down shifts on downhill at times. rpm increases and vehicle speeds up before completing the down shift. the trans. should not be down shifting on its own in this situation. this will be dangerous in snowy conditions, as the shift is unexpected. the trans. is inconsistent on level driving. sometimes it picks gear 7, other times it picks gear 8. this affects gas mileage and cannot be over ridden by using the manual shift mode. i am at the mercy of the transmission. the manual shift override is virtually useless. i cannot override the gear selected. the indicator show only shows the shifter actions. i does not indicate the gear you are actually in. the trans. does not respond to manual shifting preferences. it will be dangerous in winter weather when you cannot depend on a manual downshift to maintain control of the vehicle. i am used to other manufacturers transmissions that lock in and hold the manual gear selected. i suspect that there will be cherokee accidents in winter weather due to loss of control, because the transmission either has a mind of its own which is inconsistent, or because manual transmission control is ineffective, and nonresponsive. *tr
The powertrain is frequently unresponsive and there is often a significant lag time between pressing the accelerator and receiving any response from the powertrain when trying to accelerate from a full stop. sometimes the vehicle responds immediately but other times it feels as if it can take a full second or more for the vehicle to respond. while this is not a big issue when accelerating from a stop light, this has become a significant issue when making a left turn across oncoming traffic because the vehicle cannot be counted on to respond and begin accelerating in a timely manner. the transmission has been replaced under warranty and the transmission/powertrain software module has been "re-flashed" under recall but neither repair has fixed the responsiveness issue.
Transmission had to be replaced shy of 5,000 miles. after replacement, i have continued to have the following issues. 1. car never downshifts from 3rd to 2nd. it will downshift to 3rd and then will go into 1st when the car stops. 2. on downshift from 5th to 4th at 26mph, rpm's spike and car surges forward for a second or two until gear is engaged. has almost caused wrecks in the rain and snow. 3. when coming to a rolling stop, the cause pauses and will not accelerate when getting back into the gas because the car is in 3rd gear and not in 2nd as it should be. i have almost been rear ended numerous times. chrysler refuses to acknowledge these as a safety hazard and instead sticks to their story of that is a normal characteristic. i asked if the transmission was working as intended, why have they released so many software updates to fix the many bugs associated with their transmission. they declined to answer. i sincerely wish someone would hold them accountable. *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2015 jeep cherokee. while driving approximately 35 mph, the vehicle made a jerking motion, failed to accelerate, and two unknown warning indicators illuminated. the failure recurred multiple times. the vehicle was taken to a dealer for diagnostic testing. the mechanic repaired four computer modules and replaced the transmission. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 4,000.
The check engine light goes on and the car does not downshift properly. the engine revs up over 2500 rpms and the vehicle accelerates on its own when applying the brakes and trying to slow down. (last night the car revved up to 3200 rpms when coming to a stop.) *tr
Car lunges forward when decelerating. need to press hard on brake to control speed. *tr
Transmission failure. vehicle would not shift out of third gear.
Car has rough gear changes when decelerating. *tr
When reducing speed once at about 35mph the vehicle wants to accelerate. vehicle was in the shop from jan. 20th 2015 feb. 6th 2015. dealership replaced transmission and fixed the problem. i was not able to list the dates up top so i will list everything here. april 29th 2015 to april 30th 2015 vehicle had a recall. recall #r05. july 13th - july 28th had a problem with gas. everytime i would get gas within 20 miles it would drop a quarter of a tank. dealership replaced fuel pump and tested it. also another recall. recall #r40. june 1st - june 2nd i advised the dealership vehicle goes through a quarter tank of gas within 20 miles. they looked at it and couldn't find a problem. also on this date they performed a flash update for powertrain control module. on july 31st my fiancee came to pick me up at 3pm after work and i got a call from her stating the vehicle stopped running. she had our newborn baby along side of the road in 90 degree weather waiting for a family member to pick her up. i got a ride to our broken down vehicle and called a tow truck. tow truck came and took us to dealership. i waited for the results and they had no idea why it had died so they gave me a rental until the next day. august 1st recieved call from dealership saying it was a faulty fuel pump they had installed just a few days before. my vehicle was in service for this from july 31st - august 4th. the problems add up now i have another recall for the power liftgate control module, recall #r27 as i cannot get this recall fixed yet because i was told by dealership they havent started manufacturing the parts yet. lastly, last week i went to start vehicle and it would not start. took a few times and had to give it gas for it to start. today sept. 7th 2015 vehicle would not start. had to get it jumped and going to call dealership tomorrow to get this checked out.
This 2015 jeep cherokee limited, with v6 engine and 9 speed automatic transmission, operated smoothly for 750 miles, but then suddenly the transmission began to downshift very roughly when coasting to a stop or braking to a stop. the problem appears to be with the shifts below fifth gear. when coasting, as the downshift to either 4th or 3rd gear occurs, the engine revs and the car actually accelerates briefly (for 1 or 2 seconds) on its own. in heavy traffic, that makes quickly applying the brakes mandatory to avoid getting too close to (or hitting) the car in front of you as the vehicle accelerates. *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2015 jeep cherokee. while the vehicle was parked, it rolled backwards. the contact also stated that, while driving at approximately 55 mph, the vehicle failed to accelerate over 50 mph. the vehicle was taken to the dealer where the failure was unable to be duplicated. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the failure mileage was 7,190.
When driving the vehicle, dash lights would flash and check engine light would come on. messages would state the there was a failure with the start/stop or 4x4 or transmission. vehicle would not engage any gears, d (drive) indicate would be flashing, and i could only rev the engine. vehicle would not advance and would not engage any gears. had to shut off engine and turn it back on several times to get the transmission to engage. check engine light is still on. taken in for service four times now, update firmware, replace pcm, and now they are going to replace the wiring harness. vehicle purchased on 12/31 and has been in for service with major failures with the transmission since 1/13/2015. *tr
When starting out and pressing lightly on gas pedal engine causes the car to rock side to side. another and even bigger problem occurs when at a stop and preparing to enter flow of traffic. while lightly pressing gas pedal the car slightly revs but does not move, then accelerates excessively causing the tires to screech. this has caused us to narrowly miss getting hit by on coming traffic. then because of the excessive acceleration you have very little time to correct your steering. we were not told of this ongoing problem with this model of engine when we purchased the car new. even though they knew of the problem in 2013. that is deception. so far we have had the software flashed 2 times and will pursue legal help with ohio lemon law if problem is not resolved. this could cause serious harm or death if neglected. afraid to drive an unsafe vehicle.
Tl* the contact owns a 2015 jeep cherokee. while driving at various speeds, the front wheels wobbled and the transmission jerked as if it were in neutral. the contact mentioned that the transmission failed to shift gears effectively, the vehicle accelerated independently while in park, and an abnormal noise was heard from the engine. the vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the vehicle was unable to be repaired since the parts needed were unavailable. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure. the failure mileage was 6,000.
The jeep shifts unexpectedly all of the time. when you use the brake going down a hill the transmission shifts and the rpms shoot to 5,000! the transmission shimmies when you are in second gear. i have been back to the dealership several times to have it fixed but they say it needs an update from jeep for the flash or something with a chip. they can't get it to shift normally.
Have had several transmission issues and i feel unsafe in my vehicle. transmission shakes when accelerating from a low gear; transmission sticks when trying to accelerating (leaving me in dangerous traffic situations); transmission shift hard when driving in the city.
Transmission shifting issues. shifting out of a standstill through the first few gears is extremely rough. occasional lurching during downshifting. spent 6 weeks at dealership and was told there was nothing wrong "that's just how a 9speed transmission feels". cannot be correct. this feels unresponsive and dangerous at times. very unhappy. issue has been ongoing since the car was purchased in dec. 2014
200 miles from home, i was ascending an approximately 8 mile, 2 lane,15 degree hill. at about 5 miles up the hill i tried to pass a double semi proceeding up hill at less then 10 mph. i pushed down on the gas, and got half the way around the truck, and the engine shut down, leaving me on the wrong side of the road without power steering or brakes. i had no place to go, and i could now see oncoming traffic coming directly at me. with the gear lever in drive, there is no emergency or parking brake, as it is electronic, and with the car moving, you cannot access the park position. i was standing on the brakes, but getting almost no reaction. finally, i got behind the truck, i stood on the brakes and got as far right as possible, and got the car to stop. when i looked down at the dash, a warning message informed me that the transmission had overheated. this apparently is what triggered the engine to shut down. incredibly dangerous and stupid engineering. kill the occupants, save the transmission. i was blocking the right lane but had to sit there for 30 minutes until the transmission came back to operating temp. started the car and proceeded up hill. no possible place to turn around. within 5 minutes, the transmission temp. was getting critically hot, found a pull off and called roadside assistance. at dealer 5 hours later. they said they could fix car by recalibrating the computer control to transmission. they did the work the next day. the transmission overheated again within 5 miles of a test ride. the dealer ship closed at 2 pm and left me standing there. cost over $600 for hotel and taxi ride home. the selling dealer trucked the jeep back to the dealership for repair. diagnosed the problem, as a defectively manufactured transmission and agreed to replace the transmission. a month later, i got the car back. this is a very dangerous car. *tr
I have owned this 2015 jeep cherokee since december 2014. the transmission had to be replaced @ 1890 miles, car stopped dead trying to pass a truck on steep grade, overheated transmission. the power brake master booster had to be replaced twice, @ 2490 miles and 4920 miles, no brakes just crash into nearest curb or car, part and system failure. the transmission mounts had to be replaced @ 2560 miles, car howling like a banchee, parts failure. the software had to be changed 3 times, "trying to solve factory problem". warning lights for check engine and battery came on and car shuttered and came to abrupt stop, in the middle of a dangerous curve, with all system shut down completely @ 4970 miles, currently investigating cause. the car has been with the dealer, in total, more than 45 days, currently at dealer again. this car has left me in life threatening situations 4 times. it appears that when any preprogramed limits are reached, all systems shut down, brakes, steering, everything. you are left totally defenseless and not able to control the vehicle. the jeep has no emergency brake! this is the most unreliable and dangerous vehicle i have ever driven. i have been totally stranded away from home twice, and have yet to recover over $1000.00 in out of pocket expense, transportation, hotel, food, and cabs. the dealer closed at 2pm on a saturday, 280 miles from home, said good by and told me to contact chrysler for assistance, " it wasn't his responsibility". all 2014 and 2015 jeep cherokee should be recalled and taken off the road. this poorly conceived and engineered vehicle is dangerous and will kill many people, if it already has not. the chrysler corporation and its dealers are knowingly selling a faulty and dangerous vehicle to the public.
2015 jeep cherokee latitude. when coming to a stop, at about 25 mph, the tachometer reads 1250 rpm then the transmission drops out of gear which makes the vehicle speed up, making me brake harder, then the transmission downshifts and the engine revs up to 2000 rpm making the car lurch forward. this is dangerous and has made me feel like i may rear end a car on several occasions. *tr
I have had the vehicle in several times for check engine light. i has been on for the entire time i have had it. they have said it was intake manifold bolts loose and several program updates. this last time they said it was the fuel causing the problem. i have used 5 different fuels and the light stays on. there has been several problems with engine surging when i put it in reverse and at a stop light.
As i was getting off the freeway, the vehicle was down shifting, and as it got to the lower gears, started getting very jumpy. when it got to first gear, it seemed that it downshifted all the way into neutral. when starting from a dead stop, the vehicle would jump into first gear and was jumpy shifting up gears. i took the vehicle to the dealer, and they told me the transmission needed to be replaced. they also said it was still drivable. i was out of town at the time so i just planned to take it to my local dealer when i got home, as they said it would be about a week before a new transmission was available. i left the dealership and didn't make it more than a mile before i lost all use of the transmission, and had to be towed back to the dealership. they have since replaced the transmission. *tr
On going document issues with the 9 speed automatic transmission. there is jerkiness, hesitation, stalling during acceleration from a stopped position. there is also hard shifts, lunging, and unexpected disengagement. transmission continues in low gears wanting to shift but does not causing increased rpm's and uncertainties.
While braking at 24 miles per hour the car abruptly downshifts and causes the vehicle to accelerate. i have noticed the longer i drive the vehicle, it will happen while i am slowing down at higher speeds at well. i have taken the jeep to the dealership and they have flashed and updated my transmission but they said it was fixed but it was not. it is acting up more than it was before. it is incredibly dangerous to drive this car especially when trying to brake around a curve because it will speed up by itself. *tr
