We have classified the 679 complaints from 2015 Jeep Cherokee about POWER TRAIN into the following categories.
Tl* the contact owns a 2015 jeep cherokee. while driving 5 mph, the transmission slipped and the rpms increased significantly. the transmission failed to respond. also, there were repeated attempts before the gear lever shifted into drive. the vehicle was taken to a dealer where the transmission was replaced; however, the failure recurred. the vehicle was not repaired for a second time. the contact mentioned that the sun roof rattled and made a loud noise while driving. the vehicle was not repaired for the failure. the manufacturer was notified. the failure mileage was 3,173.
Transmission has always been "quirky". the transmission software was updated in april. soon afterwards i started to notice loss of power after slowing down or coming to a near stop. the automatic 9 speed was not in the correct gear. one day i went to pull out in traffic and had little power. there could have been an accident as the other vehicles had to brake to avoid me. vehicle is at the dealer waiting for a new transmission. i saw all the stories online about the transmission issues in this vehicle and decided i should also report my experience.
Tl* the contact owns a 2015 jeep cherokee. the contact stated that the vehicle shifted into third gear and downshifted to the next gear on its own. the vehicle also jerked while driving 30 mph without warning. in addition, when the accelerator pedal was engaged, the vehicle failed to accelerate. the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. the contact stated that the transmission control module was updated. the manufacturer was notified of the failures. the failure mileage was 3,200. ...updated 02/03/16 *bf the consumer stated the dealer replaced the transmission control and wiring harness. the consumer stated the vehicle was a little better, but there was still some hard shifting and the down shifting from 5th to 1st was slow and sometimes non-existent. updated 02/09/16*jb
As i was driving on the highway (cruise control), i raised my right knee which accidentally bumped the ignition key which turned the car off. i turned to key to on, but no help, then start position, again no help. i then put the trans in neutral and was able to restart the engine. however, i could not shift back into drive. i had to pull off the highway, come to a complete stop before i could shift into drive. fortunately i was on a two lane highway where i could safely pull off to the side of the road. had i been in one of the middle lanes of i-5 near seattle, this could have caused a serious accident (me getting rear ended). note that i able to duplicate this problem later.
While driving at low speed, making a right turn and accelerating into traffic, the whole car shakes/wobbles from side to side. almost frighteningly severe at times. dealer claims they cannot reproduce. sometimes get this shake while accelerating gently in straight line, usually always when in second gear. they continue to produce these jeeps every day, many will have this defect. there are bulletins out there, but nobody really has claimed the issue is fixed. unacceptable for a modern, new designed car. feels like a safety risk, but dealer refuses to help. shouldn't i feel safe driving my new car?
My vehicle continuously "cluncks" when shifting between certain gears. happens daily now and is very unsettling because there is a loss of power/acceleration when it happens. started when shifting between 3rd and 4th but now does it from 1st to 2nd. dealership is well aware, say there are about 2-3000 jeeps out there doing the same thing but they won't fix it because the check engine light doesn't come on and they don't know which part is broken/failing.
The vehicle has a very dangerous hesitation. it does not downshift properly when trying to accelerate.. this makes any lane change, highway approach, turn, or emrgency manuever extremely dangerous. this vehicle can't be safely driven in traffic, or taken off road as designed. fca has not remedied the iissue and has made the vehicle worse with their latest updates. this happens every single time the vehicle has been driven.it has been in the shop twice for repairs. the excuse is it is opreating as designed. in essence a poor design is somthing we have to live with and be okay with driving in danger? this is a safety hazzard that needs to be investigated before someone dies. the public should know about the vehicle danger before they decide to purchase one
When brakes are pressed the engine revs up, and jerks, the rpms shot up, then plummet, and the power surges, and you feel the car struggle to find the correct gear. service engine light on, cannot be reset by dealer when at a stop and going up incline, no power at all may 1. 2015 brought to dealer. hooked up to computer, an hour later dealer returns telling that the vehicle needs parts. they are back ordered. we are sent home with a unsafe vehicle told to come back in four weeks. *tr
Transmission failed to engage, car would not accelerate, narrowly avoided accident. *tr
I own a 2015 jeep cherokee 4x4 (2.4l/4 cyl). i've been having issues with the new automatic 9-speed transmission. the vehicle will lunge forward while decelerating at speeds between 20-25 mph. once the speedometer reaches 20 mph, the rpm's spike and vehicle accelerates (lunges) forward. in addition while accelerating to 55-60 mph the rpm's rev at a higher rate 3000-3500 rpm range and will not click into gear properly. i took my jeep back to the dealer on 4-25-15 and after a test drive and diagnosis they decided to replace the transmission. i received my jeep back on monday may 4th and it still has the same problem. this is a safety issue and i am concerned about hitting another car while decelerating towards a stop light or stop sign. as soon as the jeep hits 20 mph, the rpm's spike and car wants to go faster. *tr
Shortly after buying my 2015 jeep cherokee sport with the 2.4 engine and 9 speed automatic, it began shifting erratically. in town it would hesitate when leaving a stop light or jerk violently while changing gears. on the highway, it would not downshift on inclines or to pass and merge with traffic. i had several close calls where i had to accelerate but nothing happened when putting the pedal to the floor. this has been in the shop four times just for this problem alone and as of this writing, is still not any better. it has also had other problems with the thermostat and interior. i work in the automotive industry and know from resources that this is a simple fix. fca is giving thousands of people the runaround and angering dealerships by not being honest. the 4 cylinder engine will no longer meet the reported mpg it was claimed to after the shift profiles change and this puts fca in a position that volkswagen recently dealt with. my safety and the safety of thousands is not worth 3 mpg. fca is also treating customers as if each case is individually unique and it belittles them as well as the mechanics that know repairs are futile. i have a case number now and another appointment but it would be best to avoid this vehicle at all costs and arbitrate. there should be a federal investigation before someone dies if they haven't already. the thermostat failure is also widespread and is only being addresses one at a time in field claims. this too could lead to serious damage and even fire which has also happened to a few of these vehicles. please help us be a voice and stop this serious disregard for safety and consumer rights.
Tl* the contact owns a 2015 jeep cherokee. while driving at 40 mph, the contact depressed the accelerator pedal and the vehicle would not shift properly to speed. the failure occurred intermittently. the vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the transmission needed to be replaced. the vehicle was repaired; however, the failure recurred after 2,000 miles. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure. the failure mileage was 2,000.
1 day after purchasing the vehicle (jeep cherokee trailhawk) while turning into traffic, the vehicle shut down and lost all engine and steering and was completely disabled in oncoming traffic. the transmission check engine light, parking brake warning, and loss of 4-wheel drive warnings all came on. the vehicle was completely immobile and highly unsafe to drive. chrysler/jeep has advised they don't know exactly what is causing the problem and have offered several fixes, but they can not guarantee any of them will fix the safety issue. *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2015 jeep cherokee. while driving at 25 mph and making a left turn, the accelerator pedal was depressed and the vehicle failed to accelerate. the contact also mentioned that the air bag warning light illuminated. the failure recurred several times. the vehicle was taken to the dealer but the failure was unable to be determined. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure. the failure mileage was 1,500. the vin was not available.
Multiple incidents of when applying brakes, the tachometer would increase as the jeep down shifted and the jeep would leap forward. increase in speed. delays in the ignition switch when starting. when applying the gas, the jeep would have a 5 - 10 second delay in response and slow down instead of increasing the speed. as days past, the incidents with the jeep leaping forward when applying the brake got worse and it got to be dangerous to drive. almost rear ended a few people. had to have jeep towed to a dealership because it was unsafe to drive. the computer upgrade that came out in february of this year was not applied to this jeep before it was sold to me.
After purchasing my jeep in january, i encountered high rpm's on downshift and acceleration during low speed braking. i brought it into the originating dealer where they re-loaded software relating to the issue. i drove it for 3 months with the same issues. i again brought it into the originating dealer and they told me they had 3 week service back up and to take it to another dealer. i did so. the new dealer gratuitously took me in and kept the car for 3 days. they also erased the computer and re-loaded software that was meant to fix the anomalies. i still have the same problem. i then wrote fca but received no response. my plans are to bring it back to the later dealer on my next oil change and have them look at it again. my larger concern is that i may have a rapid acceleration experience and hit another car or pedestrian. during the down shift. basically, i have no choice but to keep my mind on the problem. in all my driving years (many), i have never had such a problem without a fix.
When slowing down in traffic or starting a step grade the transmission boggs down and then slams into a lower gear causing a sudden and instant speed as if you were trying to drag race from a stop sign. often causing loss of traction and forcing the wheels to spin out. i have had numerous times where i almost rear ended the vehicle in front of me at 4 way stops or in construction zones. the axel also wobble upon starting out, mainly in 2nd gear. one time while on a dirt road the force of the ecelleration put me off the road. after my 4th attempt to have a repair done, they exchanged the inner portion of the transmission, the vehicle now performs this action almost every time i come to a stop or slow down to 5 to 7 mph and then apply the gas again. no gradually ecelleration available in this vehicle. i won't allow my wife to drive due to the extreme safety hazard having to give min. of 3 car lengths so as to not endanger others on the road. the vehicle has been in the shop 5 times in 5 months for this issue and still not corrected. both axel have been replaced on the front of the jeep and numerous computer upgrades. my service manager stated to me he had 4 others in his shop in one day waiting for a fix and another dealer in texas has 35. my best friend works as a salesman for the local dealer and said they are towed in for this problem multiple times a week. when asking his manager what to say to new buyers he was told that's what a warranty is for. my jeep was taken into the service department for computer upgrade for the transmission before i even bought it.
Tl* the contact owns a 2015 jeep cherokee. while driving at various speeds and approaching a stop, the vehicle stalled without warning. the vehicle also failed to accelerate up a hill at 60 mph. the failure recurred numerous times. the vehicle was taken to the dealer where the failure was unable to be duplicated. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was not notified of the failure. the failure mileage was 5,000. updated 11/09/15*lj the consumer stated at 5,000, the accelerator pedal did not respond. also, the vehicle stalled at intersections. updated 12/24/15. *jb
Tl* the contact owns a 2015 jeep cherokee. while driving 45-50 mph, the contact noticed that the vehicle was switching gears very hard and the traction control and check engine indicators illuminated. the vehicle was taken to the dealer (northwest chrysler jeep dodge ram, 19616 northwest fwy, houston, tx 77065) where it was diagnosed that a software update was needed. the failure recurred a total of four times, and each time the dealer gave the same reply. the contact found nhtsa campaign number: 16v529000 (power train) and stated that the symptoms were identical, but the vin was not included in the recall. the manufacturer confirmed that the vin was not included in the recall and they could not assist with the repair. the vehicle was not repaired. the failure mileage was 60,000.
The service transmission message appeared on the dash information screen. i was on a highway, driving 60 mph. it felt as though the car was slowing down and unresponsive to my attempt to accelerate. once i exited the highway, the car didn't respond to attempts to accelerate when light turned green. it felt as though it were coasting. i came to a stop and required a tow truck to get the vehicle back to dealership service department. i was later told there would be a likelihood of needing a new transmission. something with regard to the 8th gear not engaging due to some issue with the solenoid. that issue is what caused the gear to not engage. according to the pre-assessment by the service department. the service advisor indicated this was a failure that jeep is familiar with. prior to today, i had experienced a sensation of the vehicle trying to accelerate when the gas peddle wasn't bring depressed. when attempting to decelerate, it would attempt to lunge forward against my attempts to brake. *tr
My husband and i bought a brand new 2015 jeep cherokee trailhawk. 2 weeks after owning our brand new car that we purchased because we were expecting a baby and wanted to have a safe reliable vehicle we started having shifting problems and electrical issues. we brought in the vehicle multiple times (4 times) and although we were told that it might be transmission related issues but then as soon as chrysler got involved we were told our vehicle is perfectly fine. nothing was ever fixed until my husband and i went to a different dealership. the new dealership fixed the electrical problems but said everything with the transmission is normal. the car makes shudder motions, sometimes it does not accelerate as i'm trying to get onto the freeway and it shifts very jerky. we have owned a jeep before which did not do that. we are so disappointment how chrysler is responding to known transmission problems and not doing any recalls on transmission related issues. we bought this vehicle because we wanted a safe vehicle for the family. however, after the latest tcm update the shifting has gotten worse and it doesn't feel safe to drive the vehicle yet chrysler won't do anything as we are being told this is normal.
My car has a wobble between the 2nd and 3rd gear after a stop. it started shortly after delivery and it went away at exactly 1200 miles and is back since i hit 1800 miles. i can replicate it after every stop .. if you drive slowly after a stop. if you hit the gas paddle it goes too quick thru the gears and you won't notice it but i can't do a race after every stop and waste gas. if you normal start driving after a stop you feel the wobble from left to the right.
The vehicle is a 3.2 l engine equipped with stop/start. when i stopped at a traffic light after driving about 45 minutes with no incidents, the stop/start system disabled. while continuing onto the highway the transmission remained in a lower gear and the tachometer was about 4500 at 50mph. it was shifting erratically at this point. turning the engine off reset it. it drove normally for 5 mins then the same issue occurred. i went to the dealership the following day and found i need the 9 speed transmission replaced. *tr
Transmission failed at 1,000 miles. dealer replaced with a redesigned version. i started to get a wobble in the front end while i was accelerating. i brought it back and they said that it was a known issue and they were redesigning the front axles but the fix wasn't out yet. a few weeks later the metal frame in my sunroof broke and the weather stripping fell out and i couldn't close the shade. they informed me that the entire sunroof assembly had to be replaced because the frame was defective. the wobble continued to get worse and the car was shifting rougher than ever. i kept telling the dealership that there was something wrong, and they said "that's how the new 9 speed trans behave". when i brought the car in for the sunroof replacement i asked them to look at the wobble and trans again, and they informed me that the front axle was indeed bad. they put in the redesigned axles, and replaced the entire sunroof. i continue to have serious transmission issues and they put in a new valve body and updated the software. it's worse than ever. i kept complaining to jeep and all they said was "the dealership can't replicate your problem." i actually had the service manager in the car with me and he verified that the car does not drive properly- and when jeep called me, they told me that i had to go to another dealership. this car is not safe. it hesitates when you step on the gas, then it jerks very hard into second gear, it will accelerate on it's own because it can't find a gear to downshift, and the engine will spontaneously rev on it's own if i am descending a hill and its trying to downshift. the car will leap forward and accelerate until i press the brake hard enough to slow it down and it will finally shift. the rpms will go up for several seconds after i've applied the brake. the vehicle also rolls several inches after i put it in park now.
Tl* the contact owns a 2015 jeep cherokee. while driving approximately 5 mph, the accelerator pedal was depressed but the vehicle would not accelerate. the vehicle was restarted and the check engine warning light illuminated. the vehicle was taken to a dealer on four occasions where the failure was unable to be determined. in a most recent occasion, the vehicle was taken to a dealer where the module and the wiring harness were replaced and reprogrammed, but the remedy failed to repair the vehicle. the failure mileage was 4,500.
After doing the jeep cherokee power train recall for the transmission my car would only drive from a flat surface to a hill at 20 mph and then drift slowly down speed wise. after getting to a flat surface i was able to get the car up to a speed of 40 mph and then let off the gas at which time the car started to grab and slow quickly by 10 mph and the rpms went from 4 to 1 and there was a huge bang underneath my car. took the car to get serviced based on the check engine light saying for a start stop system failure (2nd check engine light for this problem). the dealer told me that the new recall would have to take time on the computer to readapt to driving tendencies of the driver according to jeep but would be happy to test drive it for me. in a matter of 30 minutes i was given a call that i had a transmission failure and needed a new transmission. i was given a rental no other information and sent on my way. i think to only have 2600 miles on a 2015 jeep cherokee that i bought in november is a shame and jeep and chrysler should be ashamed. talking about a $30,000 car to have to have a new transmission installed at only 2600 miles makes me worried when my bumper to number expires what could i have to replace to keep it on the road. *tr
Took vehicle in for ,quoted from notice, " fca us spokeswoman said the transmission software reflash is "intended to keep the vehicle performing as intended, and to prevent durability issues from occurring in the future." i scheduled this for the next week when i got this notice in the mail. reflash did not take until second try i was told and everything checked out ok. left dealership, got a mile down the road and rpms shot up, started loosing acceleration and check engine light came on. im trying to keep from getting in a accident while making first available u turn to limp back to dealer. they hook evaluation programming up and come back and tell me my transmission needs to be replaced. the "trip codes" should have gone off when they were done but did not. it hung on long enough for me to get on the road with it. *tr
Vehicle performed very well for the first 11,500 until i did a ro1 software recall at dealership. immediately upon picking up the car, i noticed that the car would no longer shift properly. dealer claimed that i just needed to "relearn" it. six weeks, 3000 miles, 4 trips back to the dealer and it still will not shift normally. after four trips they finally level with me that the new software prevents a 3-2 downshift and limits the amount that the transmission downshifts at any time. this is extremely dangerous and almost caused an accident on several occasions now. when you slow down all the way to 1mph, the car now stays in 3rd gear so that you have no power at all when trying to merge into traffic. i have almost been rear ended several times now even though i am trying to get a two block head start. when going around the corner, the only way that you can get moving again is to jam the accelerater to the floor and force it into first gear, upon which the car will surge and loose traction. very dangerous and unstable. in the mountains or hilly terrain, this car is now a death trap. chrysler as per software engineer louis farrow claims that this is now considered "normal operation."
4/3/15 transmission recall work completed. 4/25/15 car would not shift properly. email of notification from jeep at time light came on read: malfunction indicator light indicates your vehicle needs service, prolonged driving could cause damage to the engine control system. car taken to local dealer 4/25/15-5/8/15 transmission replaced. 5/13/15-5/15/15 no power steering, abs and no 4 wheel drive available dashboard lights on. no email from jeep stating lights on. email from jeep had been automatically sent at time engine light was activated. when service person was informed he said it was because battery had been disconnected for transmission work and i'd have to reload app. service center states no history of dashboard lights on but did have history of a loss of communication. this is why the car had stopped email notification to me. the car no longer is communicating with it's programmed computerized parts ie; it's doing whatever it wants. 5/14/2015 contacted jeep given case mngr[xxx]contact number 1-800-763-8422 ext [xxx], email [email protected] case#[xxx]. [xxx] informed me he would send case in for review. 5/19/15 abs and traction control dashboard lights on. pictures taken of dashboard with lights on because of history of loss of communication indicated. car no longer recording dashboard lights on and service department keeps telling me no light indicator on. 5/20/2015 sensor replaced. 5/20/2015 call to case mngr no answer or call back from casemngr. 5/22/2015 abs and traction control dashboard light on. jeep emailed me at time of dashboard light on. i did not reload app as instructed. car started communicating again on it's own. 5/22/2015 jeep informed me no refund, no replacement. they want to continue to fix it. this car is not safe. Tl* the contact owns a 2015 jeep cherokee. while driving approximately 10 mph, the accelerator pedal was depressed and the vehicle hesitated to accelerate without warning. the vehicle was taken to a dealer, where it was diagnosed that the transmission needed to be replaced. the vehicle was repaired but the failure recurred. the vehicle was taken back to the dealer several times. the technician stated that the transmission software needed to be updated. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was not notified of the failure. the failure mileage was 6,277.
I bought my 2015 cherokee limited in december 2014. it has a very rough ride with jerking movements as it shifts gears.(or attempts to shift gears).as you are braking the vehicle accelerates which has almost caused me to rear end the vehicle in front of me many times. i had to learn how to drive to anticipate this inefficient and dangerous suv. as i was accelerating on the highway to pass, the car just paused without any acceleration and then jerked and kicked in. i never know what this vehicle will do and it is painful to drive with this new transmission that turns off after braking and then sluggishly accelerates. i have taken the vehicle in for the software update on april 3, 2015 and told that i need a new transmission. i am in the process of waiting now. this transmission is unsafe and dangerous and jeep needs to take responsibility now before more incidents and casualties exist. *tr
Jeep performed a recall on tcm/pcm for the 9 speed transmission. now at low speeds 2-5mph in an intersection or from a stop sign, or slow down on railroad tracks the car will not move even with the gas pedal to the floor, up to a 5 second delay. we were in an intersection, the light changed and cars were oncoming, after hitting the gas pedal the car just sat there, this has happened multiple times and we were almost hit. took it back and it was reprogrammed. still has the same delay, taking it back for the 3rd time. if you do a rolling stop and start out into the intersection the car refuses to move, the engine is running, but no response from the jeep. we are afraid we will get stuck in an intersection or railroad track and get killed! the jeep only has 4000 miles on it. if your jeep is running fine...do not let them reprogram the transmission!!! *tr
Vehicle shakes / wobbles when accelerating from a dead stop. the passenger side front tire actually feels loose until approximately 30 mph. also, when turning right and / or going up an incline, the front end shakes and the vehicle hesitates. jeep acknowledges that this is an issue and they are redesigning the front axles with a sturdier design. the issue is that the repair is not available for several months at least, because it's still in development. there is a real concern that the axle could fail and cause an accident.
Have had serious transmission issues since approx. 1800 miles. have had transmission "flashed" numerous times. it gets worse each time. stalls, won't accelerate, hangs in gear, hesitates, jerks, jumps, if trying to get into traffic or go across a busy road, you never know if it is going to go or not. very dangerous. i have owned over 100 vehicles (age 71) and this is the worse transmission i have ever had. jeep has no fix for the problem., so i was told by dealership personnel. the problem was evident when the vehicle was introduced and held up the initial introduction. after 3 years still do not know what to do. the 2106's have the same problems. very dangerous situation!!!
I have experienced violent crashing noises/feelings under certain conditions while driving my v6 cherokee trailhawk. i first experienced it at around 1000 miles, then again this morning when i was able to repeat it. i got a violent crash and lurch, when i accelerated, let off, accelerated again, let off, and apply normal throttle to maintain speed. this can be a common occurrence, turning into traffic or maneuvering around other vehicles. i was able to repeat it over and over again, by simply doing a hard acceleration from stop, letting off the gas, and then hard acceleration again, and then applying normal throttle input. rpms go wild, sometimes get up to 6000, and it smashes into 4th gear. it's startling and i have minimal control over vehicle speed while it's doing this. i also get rough shifts and overall i'm very uneasy about the reliability of this car. *tr
Transmission shifts unexpectedly. front end wobble in low gears, shift into drive and goes into reverse, all around junk. *tr
My 2015, brand new jeep has been acting sluggish, with a delay in shifting, poor highway pickup for a few weeks. my 17 year old daughter drove it a long distance and complained of similar issues. while driving to meet a friend the car began to loose power on the highway, there was no response when i stepped on the gas. i managed to coast to an exit ramp where i was unable to drive the car. the engine was running but would not move. i had the car towed to the nearest dealer and it has been 3 days and they still cannot diagnosis the problem other than saying it is transmission related. they ran the software update but still experience the same problem. this is an extremely dangerous and i was fortunate to be in a safe area, during the day when this occurred. *tr
While decelerating in drive with the foot off the gas, or under light gradual braking, when the automatic transmission downshifts as the car slows between 25 and 20 mph, engine speed increases in the lower gear and the car accelerates slightly.this acceleration, with the foot off the gas and when one expects the car to be slowing down, though relatively mild, is nonetheless disconcerting and perhaps potentially dangerous. an appointment was made with the dealer for march 30 2015. coincidentally, between the time the appointment was made and before the appointment, the customer received a mailed recall notice from jeep regarding an upgrade to software for the nine-speed automatic transmission. on march 30 the dealer attempted the software upgrade and reported that when they test drove it, the transmission then would not function properly, and the car would only operate in "limp" mode. the customer was given a rental car. the next day, on march 31, 2015 the dealer notified the customer that consultation with jeep and further diagnostics indicated two locking rings had broken or malfunctioned inside the transmission, and they were installing a new transmission. the customer also received a recorded message telephone call from jeep on march 31, asking the customer to bring the car in for a transmission software upgrade. the new transmission is being installed. *tr
I had just descended in center city heavily congested traffic from the entrance pass. about a 2000 foot decent. i was entering a traffic circle and slowed for traffic, pushing down on the brake pedal, it kicked back at me with substantial force. the pedal the went to the floor board. i had no brakes, and drove into the curb to stop the car. the jeep has no emergency brake system only an electronic park brake. i found the same problem 2 months before ( at 1200 miles) when the transmission overheated and shut down all power, and left me with no steering or brakes on a narrow mountain road, and almost go me killed.( diagnosed by repairing dealer as a "defectively manufactured transmission" and replaced it). i had jeep towed to nearest dealer. he could do nothing for that day. called, next day, he said the problem was a "defective power brake booster", maybe have the part and repair done in a week. second time hotel and cab home ( now at $800) on me. big too bad, nothing we can do from chrysler. the repairing dealer returned the jeep on 27th. selling dealer called to say all was perfect.picked up and drove 50 miles the transmission began to howl like a banchee. dealer diagnosed problem as a " defective transmission mount". same dealer just replace the transmission 2 months ago. still waiting for car to be repaired and returned. the 2015 jeep cherokee is a dangerous and life threatening engineered vehicle. chrysler can not have any form of quality control, if 3 major components fail within 2600 miles as "defectively manufactured". the zf 9 speed transmission is a disaster and causing problems everywhere. the chrysler corporation and dealer network is corrupt, non trustworthy, untruthfully, and noncareing from the top down. i would never recommend or buy anything from chrysler again and would give most anything to get my money back. *tr
3rd time where loss of power & service transmission light & check engine light came on. dealer service dept advised there is a recall on the tcm & pcm software, they did update on friday & also advised my jeep was giving error p0711-0 code which is transmission temp sensor. they did nothing to address that, just updated software & cleared codes. next day while driving, same issues & loss of power which nearly caused an accident in heavy traffic. only 3500 miles, bought brand new in oct, 2014. *tr
2015 jeep cherokee purchased 2-24-15 with 8 miles on it. two days later the check engine light came on and i was told to check transmission. car needed brand new transmission after 2 days. two weeks ago, the tire pressure light came on. back driver's side tire keeps losing pressure. on 3-20-15 computer went out. i had no camera, no radio, no heat controls, no ipod player. *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2015 jeep cherokee. the contact stated that while driving at 70 mph, the entire instrument panel illuminated. the digital speedometer read 20 mph and the speedometer reading indicated 75 mph when depressing the accelerator pedal however the vehicle hesitated to accelerate. the contact was able to merge over to the exit and could not accelerate over than 10 mph. the vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the transmission needed to be replaced. the vehicle was repaired but the remedy failed to repair the vehicle. the contact mentioned that the failure occurred intermittently. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the failure mileage was 2,000. updated 11/18/15*lj updated 12/06/2017*cn
Bad transmission; the car lurches forward when slowing down to coming to a complete stop; it also hesitates when trying to accelerate from a complete stop; i've almost been hit twice! has been doing this since i leased the car from 3/15/15 to the present! have taken it back to the dealer at least 5 times for the same problem!
Transmission bucks and lurches. slow to respond to gas when pulling out. looks for a gear while driving in traffic. dangerous to drive not knowing what the trans will do or not do. took it to 2 different dealers and they claim no problems. the updates do not correct the issues. it has been in the shop & times for this ongoing problem. i'm paying for a lease and rarely drive it after 2+ years of ownership 10970 miles on it. i don't trust it for a long trip any longer.
The transmission which is 9 speed/automatic (6 cylinder) feels like it grinds to change and it jerks quickly when it does. the rpm's also go very high as to suggest the gears are sticking, not shifting. i drive only 9 miles each way to work and i am totally frustrated by the time i get there. the car has only 1400 miles. please, help. *tr
The 9 speed transmission on the new jeep cherokee doesn't seem to be safe. it has a major lag especially at rolling stops. when one presses the gas nothing happens for around 2 to 3 seconds then a huge burst of power. that may not sound like a long time unless your in the midian trying to turn left. it has almost gotten me killed on several occations. the vehicle has also started lagging while pulling into my driveway then it gives you a burst of power almost sending me through my garage. i have had to pull out of a slow trun to avoid getting hit then the power comes on sending me flying into a median. jeep thinks it's the transmission and there is a 2 month waiting list just to get an appointment to wait longer. i think the problem stems from the engine start stop software. when your going slow the engine is preparing to shut off but instead of coming to a complete stop like say a left turn at a green light you press the gas. the computer takes a couple seconds to switch to power instead of shutting it down. well that's my best guess. i really like this vehicle this is such a disappointment. jeep hasn't offered any help beyond saying theyll call me in a couple months to set up an appointment. i hope it doesn't get me into a wreck before then.
Tl* the contact owns a 2015 jeep cherokee. while driving various speeds, the vehicle jerked forward while shifting gears. the contact stated that the rpms increased rapidly while attempting to switch gears. jim burke dodge chrysler jeep ram of burmingham, alabama was made aware of the failure and could not duplicate the failure. the dealer performed a software update. the manufacturer was not made aware of the transmission failure. on another occasion, while driving approximately 65 mph, the "power steering off" warning indicator illuminated without warning. on another occasion, while driving 45 mph, the power steering failed and the steering wheel became very difficult to steer. the contact pulled over to the left side of the road and restarted the vehicle to correct the failure. the vehicle was taken to the same dealer where the source of the failure was not determined. the manufacturer was made aware of the power steering issue and stated that the vehicle was no longer under warranty. the failure mileage was approximately 5,000.
