We have classified the 679 complaints from 2015 Jeep Cherokee about POWER TRAIN into the following categories.
My jeep cherokee i4 lattitude fwd will not shift down through 3rd-2nd-1st. this results in a constant "lunging of the vehicle" (due to vehicle torque when going 5mph in 3rd) when slowing down to park or when in stop and go traffic and coming to a stop behind a vehicle (causing a near collision) the sheer mass of the vehicle remaining in 3rd gear at 5mph results in many unnerving incidents that would be avoided if the vehicle geared down. it is beyond obvious that chrysler/ jeep has corrected this issue in 2016 vehicles with the same powertrain but appears to leave a large number of product build with the issue from the 2014-2015 period. chrysler actually may have designed a software update (r01) under the guise of resolving "durability issues" and injected this particular safety issue into vehicles. they now appear to have no interest in actually fixing the root problem. will nhtsa wait until some child is hit in a driveway due to one of these "lunges"?
My 2015 jeep cherokee trailhawk has 5000 miles on it and the transmission shifts really hard and at times on take off it stalls really bad, almost got me hit because the transmission was not shifting and performimg like it should. this problem has been happening very often. im afraid one day its gonna get me killed or injured .
I purchased a 2015 jeep cherokee trailhawk in february of 2015. it was running fine until i took it in for a recall and a software update. when accelerating from a stop or yield, the jeep hesitates then it will lunge forward. on december 8, 2015, i took the jeep in for a recall, there was also a software update. after that date my vehicle was never the same. prior to december 8, 2015, i had no complaints about the transmission. we have taken the jeep back to the dealership december 29, 2015, february 12, 2016, may 23, 2016 with our concerns being completely ignored. in june of 2016 i contacted chrysler and was instructed to take my jeep back to the dealership. the dealership had my jeep for 2 days and i was told the problem was fixed. it was not! it continues to lunge forward. i no longer drive it on the highway because when i am merging into traffic, it hesitates and i have had to pull off to the shoulder. i would like to be able to enjoy the vehicle that i have invested so much into. after being told by the mechanics and the manager of the service department, that i just don't know how to drive....it is good to know, i am not the only one with this problem and hopefully it will soon be fixed
Had three months with my car, started showing the check engine light periodically, i didn't take much importance, then i receive a recall from the dealer, they fix the unknown problem, then five months later i park on the pending street and trying to drive back, the shifter wasn't moving at all, after a few minutes strangling with the shifter the car finally work, after that the check engine light was on for a day, this happened again continuously. this check engine light on, happens a lot. today 12-04-2015, a tragedy happened to me , when i park my car on a climb street, i put the shifter on park, turn off the car, took my key, i get out of the car, close the door, when i was about to set up the alarm i notice by reflection that something was moving, and that was my car, passing by next to me and crashing into a concrete wall, almost run me down, 'again the car was off and i had the key in my hand'. how is this possible??? if my car has an automatic transmission. i don't feel safe anymore, owing this car, putting my life and others in risk, i don't this is fair, when youre investing your money for security, i need a response or solution for this problem a.s.a.p. thanks. Vehicle hesitates for a few seconds to go forward when i press on gas..then it lunges forward..very dangerous ..especially when turning left in traffic..i took it to the dealer and told them about this and i am afraid this car is going to get me killed doing this. they checked codes and could not find anything wrong. this happens dailey whenever i'm driving it.
Transmission lunges, clunks and jerks. horrible 2 updates and 2 relearns at one year old already. the 1st gear does not seem to engage all the time right away. the 5th gear clunks , lunges or slips.
After driving into my driveway, which has a partial slope as normal, i put the vehicle in park and removed the key from the ignition. i opened the door and started exiting the jeep when is started rolling backward. i was able to scramble back into the jeep and was able to break the vehicle to a stop. i then moved the jeep up back to the driveway and applied the paring break. no damage or injury occurred but it scared the 'bleep' out of me.
Tl* the contact owns a 2015 jeep cherokee. while driving 60 mph, the vehicle began to violently shake. the dealer diagnosed that the brakes and rotors failed and needed to be replaced. the vehicle was repaired. in addition, on another occasion, the vehicle failed to shift properly and shifted roughly without warning. the vehicle was taken back to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the transmission needed to be replaced. the vehicle was repaired. after coming to a stop, the vehicle independently shut off. the contact mentioned that the push to start failed to restart the vehicle and the instrument panel illuminated. the vehicle was taken to the dealer where the contact was informed that the fuel saving feature was enabled and the push to start feature needed to be replaced. the vehicle was repaired. the contact received notification of nhtsa campaign number: 16v529000 (power train); however, the part to do the repair was unavailable. the contact stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. the manufacturer was notified of the failures. the failure mileage was 400.
Dangerous 2015 jeep cherokee latitude with 853 miles. first week of ownership i noticed a very odd shifting were the jeep would lung forward from 1st to 2nd gear at about 5mph, hard shifts, and was struggling to find gears at 35-40mph along with a nonresponsive gas pedal that spooked me during many acceleration instances of slow speeds and highway speeds. took into the dealership where i bought it from and explained what was being experienced, with the back up camera being saturated with light, and gas door that was not aligned with the body. they checked for codes but a service light never appeared. was told there were updates that need to be installed. after the update, which i assumed was a power train update for the transmission. left dealership and it all started happening again with the transmission. so was told by a service rep need to let the transmission learn my driving habits whith no harsh acceleration because of the 350 mile breakin period. drove for a while too see if it would smooth out. nope it didn't it started having an odd feeling when put in drive and moving forward like the clutchs in the transmission were slipping which gives the sensation of wobble vibrration. returned it back to the dealership again for second time due to when in the mid del of an intersection while making a left turn with appropriate throttle applied it suddenly loss power with traffic coming from opposite direction so i had to wot the gas pedal to get it to move then it responded with me over accelerating into a turn and immediately got off the gas and had to apply brake pressure and control steering. it happended quiet a few times before i finally got frustrated with it and returned to dealer for service 3rd time. was told couldn't duplicate,so they can't fix it. filed complaint with fca for remedy. this jeep makes me fear driving it.
Vehicle is warm. shifting between 4th and 5th gear, slams into 5th at 30-35 mph. feels like the transmission is going to fall out from under the vehicle. 14,000 miles on vehicle. normal operating temps on all gauges. i am wondering if the electric solenoid aren't performing properly. this hasn't been the first time that this has happened.
My 2015 jeep cherokee limited 4x2 has the 9 speed transmission. the transmission worked well at first, but soon shifted hard, surged, clunked hesitated, and hunted for gears. at 1921 miles, the check engine light came on, indicating transmission overheating, and the dealer replaced the transmission. the new transmission worked well for about 500 miles, but has started the same combination of hard shifting, surging, hesitating, clunking, and hunting. dealer now says this is normal for the nine speed transmission, and they cannot do anything until the transmission gives error codes. this vehicle is scary when crossing intersections or making left turns across busy streets. the surging when it is put into park is also scary.
When pusking the gas pedal from a complete stop, the car hesitates before engaging and then when it does engage, it accelerates at a high rate of speed and when slowing down it does not stop as quickly because the transmission is still engaged at a higher gear thus making rear impacts likely. trying to make a turn either left or right in a high traffic congested area, it is almost impossible to to merge with the traffic quickly because of this hesitation. i feel like i am taking my life in my hands every time i drive this vehicle. this is a safety concern and should be treated as such.
When attempting to accelerate from a stop position the vehicle's rpms will go up, however the vehicle will not move, and then will suddenly lunge forward. it also will shift very hard from gear to gear, and if stopped on a hill, and attempt to move from starting position, transmission does not engage right away, even though vehicle is in drive. it started doing this about two months after i bought the vehicle at which time it had approx. 2000 miles on it, and has continued.
The vehicle service engine light keeps coming on, service transmission light comes on. vehicle shifts in and out of gear on its own. parking brake activates on its own. the start/stop malfunction light comes on. it has been towed in to dealership 3 times. these problems have occurred while vehicle was in motion.
6 times since purchasing the vehicle on jan 30,2015 the car's transmission fails to engage after coming to a stop. upon acceleration after a stop, the engine revs as if its in neutral when the gear shift is in drive often rendering the vehicle inoperable in the middle of an intersection. several warning lights and messages flash including the disabling of the abs system, emergency brake system, and shift vehicle into desired gear while still in drive. on 11/7/15 the lights began flashing while driving and the transmission failed to engage when the car came to a stop. usually turning the car off and restarting will allow the vehicle to become operational again (with a check engine light illuminated) however, this time the vehicle would not even start and the transmission could not be shifted out of park in order to push it out of the middle of the street. this began the day after i purchased it with 80 miles on it and has continued to happen even after dealer "remedies" of resetting the transmission module, updating the transmission module and replacing the transmission module. this issue continues to worsen and is becoming increasingly hazardous. i do have videos of how the vehicle acts during these episodes and the dangerous position it has left me and my young daughters in when it occurs.
I purchased my 2015 cherokee 10 months ago and only has 7700 miles but as time has passed the shifting of gears is getting worse. if you let of the gas at 30mph when the car gets to 27mph it accelerates and you can see the rpm increase. when you brake and get to around 20mph the car does the same thing. i have had numerous occassions of almost getting an accident because of this when braking. its also very dangerous to be going into a turn and the car start to go faster and i don't feel like i have control over the vehicle. during the first oil change i was advised the dealership of the concern and they said you just have to get used to driving a jeep as they run rough compared to cars. i took my jeep to the dealership 11/5/2015 since i complained again and now they do agree "something" is wrong with it but they don't know what due to its not giving them a code. i was given a rental car on 11/6/2015. on 11/10/2015 i was advised i needed a new transmission, the part was being ordered and should be ready in a few days. on 11/13/2015 i called to be advised a part was missing and it would not be ready until 11/16/2015. i called 11/16/2015 to see if it would be ready for me to pick up by 3pm and was told it would not be ready until 5pm, i told them i would pick up the jeep the next day. today 11/17/2015 my husband went to drop of the rental to pick up our jeep and now it will not start, my husband was told they have no idea what is wrong but they will call later. at this point i do not feel safe having this vehicle and feel chrysler should buy it back as now my resale value will decrease since it will show a transmission replacement at less than 8000 miles.
During driving "4wd overheated. temporarily unavailable" randomly shows up on the display and then goes away. the last i was taking it to the dealership "4wd svc" yellow light came on. dealership looked at it twice and even changed some electronic component but the problem still persists.
While driving in a shopping center filled with pedestrians and vehicles..the vehicle lunged forward ..i was at 1 mph or less..this has happened frequently..my son was in the vehicle with me at the time and ask me what i was doing..i told him that i didn't accelerate the car..it did it on its own..this scared me as well as him. i have taken the car the the dealership several times to have the transmission checked..and they say there are no codes and cant find anything wrong.
I purchased my 2015 jeep cherokee 3.6l limited edition in may since then had nothing but problems with the 9 speed automatic transmission rough shifting and the front axles causing wobbling at lower speed . after 5 or 6 visits to the service department they installed a new transmission and front axles. two days later horrible noise was coming from the axles the vehicle had to be towed to service again. when the car was returned to me it seemed to be driving fine except it did not shift into 2nd gear and felt like the car has no power however it has 273 hp. less then a 1000 miles later the check engine light came on along with a! . after diagnosis the error code was pointing to the transmission control module. the service administrator told me that they would clear the code and the tech would drive the car and if it does not come back the would consider it fixed, and not questioning why it happened at the first place. we feel completely unsafe in this car, i wish i never bought this vehicle. this car has 10500 miles on it and i had to take it 7 times to the dealership. do not buy this type of car
The vehicles transmission shifts very rough, especially around 19 to 23 mph. when slowly accelerating from a complete stop on a flat surface the vehicle hesitates for a second before moving then jerks. when the vehicle is on an incline at a complete stop this hesitation is longer and the jerk greater when accelerating. accelerating while the vehicle is moving slowly about 1-2 mph causes hesitation and a jerk. the dealership has updated the software on 3 or 4 occasions trying to correct the problem. the dealership tells me this is the nature of the transmission and there is nothing more they can do at this time.
Tl* the contact owns a 2015 jeep cherokee. the contact stated that the vehicle accelerated approximately to 2,000 rpms when attempting to decelerate. as a result, the vehicle surged forward. the contact had to depress the brake pedal to avoid the acceleration and make the vehicle decelerate instead. the contact took the vehicle to the dealer (levanon jeep chrysler dodge ram) where it was diagnosed that the transmission failed and needed to be reprogrammed. the transmission was reprogrammed, but the failure recurred. the manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 51,968. ...updated 11/15/17 *bf the consumer stated the dealer advised the consumer would get used to the vehicle's defect. *js
Tl* the contact owns a 2015 jeep cherokee. while driving various speeds, the vehicle jerked, lunged forward, and stalled without warning temporarily on one occasion. russell westbrook chrysler dodge jeep ram in van nuys, california was notified, but could not duplicate the failure. the dealer stated that there were no failures with the vehicle. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure and provided case number: 340-46249. the failure mileage was 100.
Transmission hard shifts when decreasing speed reaches just under 20 mph. the thunk is loud and hard enough to momentarily shake the jeep. this model was not supposed to be affected by the software issues affecting other production runs, bu it is clearly present. i took the vehicle to the dealership and they said they reset the shift points. now the transition thunks coming from 4th into 3rd. the initial complaint was 3rd into 2nd. this happens the majority of downshifts. if the auto-engine off switch is engaged (auto-off disabled) the ratio of hard shifts to clean shifts improves by about 20%. this appears to be an unreported software issue. the dealership is telling me that if there is no error code there is nothing they will do, but there is certainly a safety issue going on here. the force of these hard shifts are putting enormous strain on the power train.
At 2,000 miles the check engine light came on and the vehicle began surging as i would decelerate towards a stop. in addition as i would descend down a hill the vehicle would act as if it were downshifting into much too low of a gear. finally, when i accelerate out of a stop the vehicle would surge forward. i owned the vehicle 35 days.
Transmission sometimes stalls, lags behind gas pedal, slips, and will even shutoff on the rode. i have been stuck in the middle of the road multiple times, twice with my two children in the car. i have taken in to jeep dealership each time to be told something different each time. twice they have re-flashed ecu, once to replace control module, and once again to be told they couldnt replicate the event. this vehicle is a death trap. i would suggest staying far away from this car. i am in the process of attempting a lemon law before i am stranded on the road and involved in an accident.
My vehicle continues to experience abnormalities. my vehicle is currently experiencing the following problems: jerking, no response to pressing pedal (lack of acceleration), not shifting gears or getting hung up on a gear, unintended fast acceleration (i.e. depress the pedal lightly at a green stoplight, no response, go further, no response, then it reacts and tires squeal), unintended acceleration when coming to a stop (i.e. coming off highway off-ramp, applying brake, engine still outputting power when trying to come to a stop and not pressing gas), a few times there has been complete loss of acceleration at highway speeds (have gone to switch lanes, try to accelerate, vehicle does not respond at all, keep trying to press, eventually loud clunk sound, vehicle jerks, and it will respond with major hesitation).
I started leasing this brand new car july 2015. initially there were a few minor shifting changes that felt unsteady. coming home from work one day in october 2015 i noticed the car was not accelerating, would shift poorly into different gears and was jolting. at the same time the "service engine light" turned on as well as a message stating "service transmission". i waited seven hours for jeep to tow the car, it took them one week to diagnose, and they estimated another week to repair. so far they've had the car for two weeks and the estimate pickup day would mark 17 days without the car if its even ready on time. they are replacing the entire transmission.

Jeep 2015 cherokee stalled while in motion in high speed lane of highwayin heavy traffic. upon restarting, car was stuck somewhere around 3rd or 4th gear. engine was skipping.
Initially car shuttered when coming to a stop and was downshifting. the engine start/stop malfunction light illuminated and the service engine mil came on as well. from then on the car behaved as though it was stuck in 3rd gear causing a total lack of torque/power when accelerating from stops, and the engine rpms were going extremely high and the car wouldn't shift. even tried using the "manual shift" feature but the car indicated it was shifting gears, but the rpms did not change, nor could you feel the car shift. when accelerating from a stopped position there was no power and the car crawled/struggled to get moving forward. was almost t-boned trying to turn across oncoming traffic to get to a parking lot so i could stop. once i pulled into the parking lot car would not go into reverse. i put it in reverse, but the car wouldn't go. turned the car off and then on and everything seemed to reset except mil and car started bevaing normally. i took the car to the dealership and they "reflashed" the pcm, tcm, and bcm. 1 day later the car shutters when down shifting and error lights come on. loses power, and 50% of the time seems like it is not shifting gears. 25% of the time won't go into reverse. car behaves normally after restarting though the mil indicator light remains on. usually around 10 miles later the whole series of malfunction starts again, always when the car is downshifting before a stop. just dropped the car off to the dealer and they are having their transmission specialist look at it. when i dropped it off it was giving the same error code, "improbable error" from the tcm/pcm. the lack of power to accelerate and inability to go into reverse makes this car simply unsafe to drive when the errors occur. attaching first repair invoice from the tcm/pcm/bcm reflash. waiting to hear what the transmission specialist says.
Purchased vehicle 1/2015 at 8000 miles took in for oil change , update for recall on radio and software update for transmission due to shifting hard. was told if update on transmission did not take would need a new transmission. when slowing down i have to come to a complete stop and wait for car to drop into first gear before accelerating. if i don't and just yield between 10mph and 2mph and try accelerate car hesitates about 5 seconds before it moves forward. this is very scary when trying to merge onto a highway. if i'm on on ramp and have to stop i nearly get rear-ended and if i merge and car hesitates cars are quickly moving to other lane to avoid hitting me
I bought a 2015 jeep cherokee trailhawk v6 on 10/14/15. on 10/16/15 while driving down a street at 45mph, the vehicle died. i managed to get off to the side of the road and after a couple of attempts it started again. the check engine light was now on and i had no acceleration. i managed to drive 5 miles to the dealership in "limp mode" and drop it off for repairs. the last i heard on 10/17/15 was that they were going to replace the tcm and pcm and see if that helps, it is now 10/21/15 and i do not have an update.
There have been 2 incidents within 6 months where upon acceleration onto a highway from an on-ramp, the vehicle will suddenly light up different warning lights in the dash stating that the 4wd is not functioning, the auto stop/start is inactive, and the vehicle will no longer be able to accelerate no matter how much you press on the gas. the car starts running at very high rpms, around 4,000-5,500 rpms, but will no longer accelerate past 40 mph. there is no more power being driven to the engine, the rpms are stuck at high revolutions, and you are not able to accelerate. this occurred as soon as the vehicle entered a busy highway, and immediately lost acceleration power. this is a serious safety risk, and it has happened to many other people with the same vehicle as reported on carcomplaints.com another issue that is a safety risk is when attempting to accelerate from a stopped position, the transmission will not accelerate but will hesitate for a few seconds, then roughly jerk into gear and take off. this is also a safety risk because when the car does not accelerate, your first reaction is to press on the gas pedal more, but when the transmission finally shifts into gear, it accelerates way too fast because of the amount of power you were giving the gas pedal. this happens constantly. chrysler has taken no interest in solving these issues, and we have already had a new engine and transmission installed in this year old car, but none of the issues have been resolved through this, but have actually gotten worse. this car is no longer reliable, or safe to drive, and it is unacceptable. these transmission issues will cause accidents, as the loss of acceleration and power make being able to maneuver on the roads or the highway a severe risk. i have all service records for this vehicle upon request.
I was trying to continue through a busy intersection, i pressed the accelerator and the car acted like it was in neutral. it revved up, but did not accelerate. i looked down at my gear shift and it was still in drive, however my dashboard said that the jeep was in neutral. because i could not continue through the intersection, i was rear ended by the person behind me.
When i was looking at vehicles, the primary items i wanted in the new vehicle was a six cylinder engine so that we would have the pick-up needed for extensive highway driving. the issues existed since it was new but i have actually become concerned for my safety in this vehicle; we only drive it when we absolutely have to (ie. both of us in the household have to go to work). the engine is the 6 cylinder with the 9 speed transmission. this engine has intermittent issues where the vehicle hesitates, lurches, and jumps. sometimes when accelerating from a full stop, it hesitates several seconds, and then when it does respond the tires squeal and the vehicle lurches forward from the transmission not engaging as it should. sometimes it is a milder response where it is just a hesitation due to delayed shifting. more recently, now the engine is not downshifting and the engine revs and doesn't want to downshift. i no longer feel safe driving this because it is so erratic and i constantly wonder what it is going to do next. every time we take it to the jeep dealer, they update the computer and send us on our way. the software updates do not help. we have asked them to drive it and they have told me they don't experience anything wrong. it wasn't until we went to write this letter that we realized that the service orders don't record the fact that we have asked the jeep dealer to look at this issue every time it has been in the shop with them. which indicates to us that jeep is trying to hide from this issue. the amazing thing is that if you go online and start researching issues with the jeep engine that has the 9 speed transmission, thousands of people are having the same problems as we are having. the sad thing is jeep continues to make the engine with the 9 speed transmission and the issues don't seem to be fixed. to me that is blatant disregard for the consumer.
I bought my car 3/29/2015. my car has been in the shop 4 times in the 6 months since i have bout it. it had the transmission valve replaced, the harness replaces, and after all of that still did not fix anything. my car is currently having a new transmission put in ( only has 5,000) miles on it! so many costumers are having the same issues with their 2015 cherokees, they are unsafe and have caused many accidents from transmission failures. they need to be recalled!!!
Completed a new lease for a 2015 cherokee 4x4 limited on 10.08. the next morning, the vehicle would not accelerate as i made a left turn into a five lane road. i was able to coast to a lot. dealership towed it and within a week replaced valve body. when i picked up car, the car malfunctioned again on the porter who brought the car to me- service transmission and break lights on again (both happened with the vehicle lost power the first time). they kept the car and replaced the transmission control module. two days later, the car is making a whistling noise while in park- possible burning smell coming from rear of care where the noise is most prevalent. will return to dealer today but very concerned about the safety of this new vehicle of me and my two young sons.
I was driving to work, the vehicle had only 800 miles on it and both the "malfunction indicator light" and the auto stop/start light came on. when i stopped at a stop sign, the auto stop/start made a warning noise and a message came up saying "auto stop start not available have it serviced". it continues to do this. when driving down a steep hill the car races as if it isn't going to slow down and twice while climbing a steep hill the vehicle had no power, i couldn't get the vehicle to go any faster no matter how hard i pushed down on the accelerator. in these instances, the rpms go as high as 4000 and stay there and don't decrease. twice i have had to pull over and shut the car off to stop this and "reset" the vehicle (which the mechanic of the dealership told me to do). the instances where the auto stop/start warning comes on are when i stop at a stop sign and when i am driving on relatively flat road going between 30 & 40 mph. the "racing" occurs going downhill between 50 & 60 mph.
While applying the brakes in an attempt to stop the vehicle, the vehicle slows down to approx. 20mph and then accelerates on its own.
July 31, 2015: vehicle transmission overheated warning light came on while driving (8-10 miles) in morning and again in afternoon. in pm turned of vehicle and restarted, various warning lights including transmission requires service warnings appeared and transmission was stuck in one gear. july 31-augusts1 jeep was at dealer for complete transmission replacement (approximately 5500 miles). october 5-october 7 vehicle left with dealer due to continued transmission issues while driving. vehicle periodically clunks and jerks forward when shifting into low gear when coming to a stop. becomes confused when slowing to a rolling stop, and hesitates to take off when accelerating from a stop. currently when driving in daylight the auto headlights periodically flicker on and off when i drive through a shadow and make viewing displays in daylight problematic. jeep customer care says that they could find no error codes and without "replicating the problem" or having error codes they can't do anything.
Driving up steep hill, transmission failed, car went into neutral, flashing red messages on dash, car rolled backwards. had to put on emergency brake and jump out. towed to local dealership in berkely, ca. they replaced transmission and updated software as of oct.1,2015.car purchased new in feb. 2015, has 5000 miles. now car lurches forward, when driving. i feel like i will have an accident. chrysler customer care doesn't return phone calls. i guess i am lucky i haven't injured myself or anyone else yet!!
My car has had transmission issues from very early on. i can step on the gas, the engine revs up but does not register on the tachometer, then all of a sudden it catches and goes. i have been in 4 or 5 situations where i started pulling out into traffic and the car simply hesitated for several seconds before going. i actually had a very close call with a tractor trailer because of this hesitation. also, you can step on the gas to accelerate and once at the desired speed then let off the accelerator and the engine stays at the accelerated rpm's for several seconds then shifts back out to normal rpm's. also, the car has had 4 separate electrical issues in 4 months as well. the check engine light comes on, then the engine cooling fan runs fast for about 30 minutes then shuts back down. i have had my vehicle at he dealership for problems 5 times in 4 months and they can't seem to find what the issue is or what to do to correct it.
Tl* the contact owns a 2015 jeep cherokee. the contact stated that the rear windshield shattered without warning. the contact stated that there were two holes near the heat sensor. while driving at various speeds, the vehicle jerked forward without warning. the failure recurred numerous times. the vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was not diagnosed or repaired. the manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. the vin was included in nhtsa campaign number: 15v393000 (structure). the failure mileage was approximately 10.

I have had problems with the transmission of my 2015 jeep cherokee since i got it. it will sometime not shift going up hills and over revs but what is very scary is it will sometimes just hesitate when i press the gas and then suddenly take off without warning. if i am pulling out into traffic and i press the gas to go quickly the car simply will not go or it will just go a little and then pause and i will be stuck in the middle of the road. then it will jerk and take off without warning. i am afraid to drive this car. it is a lease so i cannot even do anything about it. if i bought it i can assure you, i would have gotten rid of it by now. i am terrified to drive it.

Vehicle lunges and or jerks forward nearing and or at a complete stop. it happens the majority of driving time and has been in the jeep dealership 3 times.
The vehicle hesitates when starting from a stop or accelerating from a turn or other slowing. when i add power the vehicle will lurch forward sometimes squealing the tires. this is particularly dangerous when turning left ahead of oncoming traffic. the vehicle hesitates while accelerating to pass or merge into highway traffic. the transmission software has been updated but the problem was made worse. the transmission has been replaced by jeep/chrysler but the problem remains. the chrysler service representative told me that the vehicle is designed to not shift into first gear unless it comes to a complete stop. this causes the vehicle to "bog down" when coming out of a turn. this is very troubling when turning left ahead of oncoming traffic. the natural reaction is to add power. this causes the transmission to shift into first gear and lurch the vehicle forward. i've made a complaint thru the chrysler customer care center. after another visit to the dealership i was told "the vehicle is performing as designed." if that is the case then why did they replace the transmission? this vehicle is not safe to drive.
I've had the computer recall update. when driving the transmission will jerk and make a loud noise this happens when the car is in motion and can happen at any speed. it does not happen every time i drive but happens enough to be a concern.
I have owned this vehicle for 4 months and every 3 weeks i have to return it for service due to the transmission, 4x4 and traction control not working. starts off in 3rd - 4th gear at any given time (almost been hit several times), will accelerate and surge forward during down shifting while stopping (almost hit several different vehicles) and now surges to 7000rpm when turning right and parking break has locked up 3 different times while in gear. 2 different dealerships don't know what to fix because it doesn't register any codes, they also tell me that this is a huge problem on all 9 speed transmissions they make, not just the one's in jeeps. but since they don't know what to fix and therefore its not an issue and i have to take my unpredictable and unsafe vehicle home and not the loaner because jeep will not pay for it. i have contacted jeep who assigned me a "resolution case manager" who will no longer return my phone calls for buy back or trading for a different vehicle. is that their resolution, blow everyone off and hope we all go away?? why is nothing being done for everyone's safety? why are they still knowingly selling these vehicles with no know fix? how long before someone gets seriously injured? there is more than enough information that i have read on this page yet there is no action? isn't that what this site is for? action?
