I was driving when the service shifter light started turning on. i would turn off the car and restart and it would go away. then it started coming on more frequently and then it cut off while driving. the first time i was on the freeway, the second two times it cut off, i was on the street 35mph. it started back up about 5 minutes later. i took it to the dealership they said it cut off due to low oil and that they did not find any other codes. guess what the car cut off again on my way home. this is so dangerous since it is cutting off while driving at full speed. i have seen so many complaints so there must be some type of fix. i am desperate for help at this time. i just need to know what to tell jeep to fix. please help, i am afraid i am going to get into a deadly accident.

The dashboard completely goes blank for 3 seconds and then comes on wall driving. or engin completely shuts off for 4 seconds and then turns back on wall driving

As i am driving the service shifter flashes on dashboard , call dealer they never heard of it . put car in park turn engine off and waited . turn car on message disappears car runs but it still has a jerk when trying to shift into gear and not picking up speed but rpm show 3 and 4.

I purchased my car on 10/1/19 with 98,000 miles. a few short days later my car started driving horrible. shaking,bucking, jerking, hesitating to accelerate and shift and my engine light came on while driving, scanned it and was showing p0520 oil pressure sensor. that was replaced. car was still driving the same and 3 days later while driving my engine light came on again, this time code p06dd. brought my car to the mechanic where he had it 3 week. my oil pump was replaced with a new oem pump. the very next day while driving my engine light went on again, throwing the same code p06dd. brought back to the dealer where my car was low 2 quarts of oil. was told to bring it to jeep for recall and diagnosis. jeep has my car for 4 days, completed the recall but was unable to diagnose my car. upon leaving the jeep dealer my engine light came back on and now my car was stuck in safe mode and would not go over 60mph. i brought my car back to the dealer where i purchased it. they had my car for two weeks and replaced my engine. i picked my car up on 12/6/19 from the dealer i purchased from, who just replaced my engine. with a new engine, the car is still not driving right. it is still shaking,bucking, jerking, hesitating to accelerate, hesitating to shift out of all gears. i had my tires balanced 2 times.on 1/13/2020 my car while driving on the highway went into safe mode again. not going over 60mph. this time no engine lights are on. i brought it back to the dealer i purchased from, they hooked up the computer..which showed no codes. it took my car out of safe mode but did not fix any of the problems i'm having. today, 1/21/20 my car went back into safe mode while driving. will not go over 60mph and there are no lights on the dash showing there is a problem. this car is not safe. i am a single mom with 2 kids and i will not jeopardize mine or their lives in this vehicle.

The radio reception has waxed and waned since i purchased the vehicle. i have another vehicle and the parallel reception between the 2 is not comparable....the 2014 jeep is very poor in its ability to provide adequate radio information from even nearby stations. i'm not sure this is a safety issue...more of a quality issue for the manufacturer..also, a blatant misrepresentation by the sales people. i have not found a single person out of the approximately 100 people with cherokees or grand cherokees who tell me their radios perform well. help!

I was in an accident severe enough to total the vehicle but none of the many air bags deployed. i rear ended a vehicle on the freeway. i was just concerned since i am unaware what speed i was going at the point of impact. the front of my vehicle was pushed back toward the windsheild pretty far. unfortunately, i don't have any pictures. i just wanted to express my concerns. we did test the car and there aparently no failure of the air bag system, so maybe no problem.

One month after purchasing this vehicle from a used dealership 'platinum pre-owned' on the carlisle pike in pennsylvania. the gear shift needed to be serviced it shifted on its own almost causing an accident. almost a year and a few months later i'm running into the same issue with the gear shifter. my vehicle notified me to service the gear shifter while i was driving once in park it wouldn't shift out of its position. i'm a very upset as i have children and this was just replaced with a brand new piece of equipment so i'm not understanding why this is happening. i've checked for recalls with my vin and nothing has come up but, so i'm assuming it is a mistake.

Every few weeks, i will get a warning that flashing on my display while driving saying "shift into p before shifting to desired gear", and the engine dies a couple seconds later. this has happened on cold days, warm days, flat roads, hills, and turns. rural roads with low speeds as well as the interstate at 60+ mph. takes about 2 minutes before the car will restart and has left me in the middle of traffic on several occasions, causing a danger to myself and other drivers. most commonly happens when my oil life is below 30%, but has occurred at other times as well.

I was driving down a straight, flat road about approaching an intersection and a light which just turned green. was going about 25-30 mph at the moment when it sounded and felt like a tire popped in the rear of the jeep. i rolled to a stop, pulled off to the side and noticed the tire wasn't popped, but that my rear passenger tire was now resting on the wheel well. i got down to look under and saw that a thick metal bar had snapped in half, which in turn snapped my axel, and ripped my suspension out with it. i got the vehicle towed to the local shop, they looked at it and said they had never seen this happen before. when towing the jeep, they needed to wrap it with extra straps since the damage was so significant they could not tie the chains under the car in the rear. i am currently trying to get jeep to send an evaluator. i currently have a case open with them.

As i was driving home the service shifter message came on after i backed out of the parking spot and shifted into drive. my display and would not clear. after looking online i found that there is a whole group of jeep owners that have this same issue. they discussion can be found at https://www.cargurus.com/cars/discussion-t68742_ds990296 i am surprised there has not been a recall on the automobile for this yet considering an extraordinary amount of people have this issue. definitely needs to be looked into. i have only owned the car for less than 48 hours and am questioning returning it to the lot after a mechanic takes a look into it.

My car starts and will drive then randomly turn off while i'm slowing down or waiting to turn. it shuts off the engine and battery light come on. i wait a few seconds and it starts right back up. it does it at least once a day but when i take it to the auto shop they can't identify any codes or anything that's wrong.

'service shifter' intermittently comes on. all lights are lit up at shifter p,r,n,d and stay on. when vehicle is turned off and on again, it seems to be fine. comes on at least once within 10 starts. reading forums and dealership does not seem to know what the problem is. of course they want to see is when issue is occurring, not an easy task. even when issue is occurring i was able to drive. concerned as to what and why this problem is occurring. could it become a safety issue?

This is my 2nd complaint since the transmission issue on 8/6/19 (tracking #11242090). i have not received an update regarding that issue. i followed up with the manufacturer who informed me that my vin was not associated with the recall. on 8/7/19, i had the dealer perform a diagnostic test and they found that my suv required a software update on the transmission and powertrain. the same recall affecting the 3.2l but not issued to my vin. on 9/8/19, my suv began surging multiple times when i was in idle at city stoplights and died when in shifted into park three times within an hour. the only indication of an issue on my dashboard was the battery light that came on once the car died. the dash and radio continued to perform fine but the engine shut off with the key still in the ignition. i had the battery tested on 8/06/19 along with the alternator and terminals and they were at 100%. the battery was new when purchased 11/2018. i'd like to resolve this issue in order to feel safe driving this vehicle. i can provide further documentation from the dealer bayside chrysler dodge jeep ram 10535 automall parkway, d'iberville, ms 39540 or it can be requested from them directly.

Service shifter continuously comes on

Service shifter message locks speedometer screen and all gears light up to display prnd. this happened while vehicle was in motion. also happens when parked with the car running and when shifting into reverse.

While driving down the street my car switch from 4wd to neutral and started making a very loud noise, then suddenly stops in the middle of the road. i was unable to drive forward at all. to be able to get out of the road i had to drive backwards into a parking lot. the car now wont drive forward.

While driving, the vehicle had a hard shift when starting to accelerate. recently, i went to leave work and vehicle wouldn't start and was told it was a fuel pump. few days later, the vehicle started several times. two days later, i was driving on the interstate and the rpms started going down and i eventually stalled out luckily i was able to pull off to the side. few minutes later the vehicle started and i made it almost home until my vehicle stalled out again while sitting at a red light but this time in the middle of traffic. the battery light came on because the vehicle was shutting down. shift to p message came up as well. i tried turning the vehicle on and off like i did before but it wouldn't start. finally after two tries it started again so i pulled off into a parking lot to wait for my dad. even just sitting in the parking lot the vehicle was stalling out and the shift to p message came on again. my father went to leave his work and the vehicle shut off again and it was towed to a dealership where it has been for almost two weeks now and they can not duplicate the issue.

Transmission feels like it is slipping while in motion and it randomly goes into neutral which had to be put into park and then back to drive in order to move. sometimes it requires a complete engine restart. this has happened randomly and always when i'm driving and on the road or highway but luckily was always able to pull over to the side avoiding a major accident.

I have a 2014 jeep cherokee sport and my service shifter came on and my car wouldn't start unless i jump started it , called the dealership they said they never of heard of anything like that , i think this needs to be investigated or someone is going to end up kill because of there car messing up .

My horn will not work at all nor the cruise control is not working at all as well. so is all of the controls on the steering wheel. also a low headlight went out and i may have a stuck clutch problem as well. i need all of this for my safety, my passengers, and my vehicle safely as well. i am requesting a recall so these matters can be straighten out as soon as possible. i don't know what's going to happen the next day, but i need these situations fixed as much as i can.

This is the second time it's happened. after i fill up a tank load of gas, the car wants to lunge forward after coming to a stop. it does a few jolts before it picks up speed. today, when i cranked it, it stalled. i turned it off then cranked it again and it was fine. then i pulled out the driveway and proceeded to drive down the street (35 mph). when i approached the stop sign, the car said 'shift to park to shift gears.' i shifted from drive to park, waited a minute, then back to drive. the car would not go. i turned it off and then back on, shifted to drive then proceeded to drive. i got up to 45 mph and approached a stop sign. the car said 'shift to park to shift gears.' at the stop sign, i shifted from drive to park, waited then shifted to drive. the car would not go. i turned it off then tried to turn it back on and it stalled. i turned it off then waited a few minutes before turning it back on.

Shift lights all come on resulting in car stalling out on take off. jeep has stalled out on me many times in the middle of intersections. will have to turn off car and restart.

This vehicle will make its 3rd visit to dealership for shutting down while moving. previous 2 visits i was told vehicle needed updates. was updated 2 weeks ago and the issue happened again today... first steering wheel locks up,,,tachometer goes to zero..engine shuts down..light comes on and says put vehicle in park and restart. vehicle is unsafe to operate. dealership is guessing at this point but i cannot pit my son's life in jeopardy. what can we do?

My oil sensor malfunctioned and light stayed on resulting in oil around it and it having to be changed out. . which shouldn't have happened??

While driving my gear shift suddenly has all lights engaged (park, drive, reverse, and neutral) simultaneously. has occurred multiple times on both city streets and highways and only resolves by turning engine off and back on. unknown cause.

I have noticed in the past few weeks that my jeep will stall and will not start back up again. i try and it wants to but doesn't. then about five minutes later it will start and all is good. i thought it may be the gas but i have gone through different tanks and different gas stations and it continues to do this. usually first thing in the am. i have been stuck in the middle of the road as it will start to go but stalls. what is wrong woth this vehicle.?

My vehicle was engaged in active use of cruise control, i had brand new tires, and something happened to the vehicle to where it caused an unsafe push of acceleration and the car lost traction on the road. the vehicle ended up rolling 125 feet off a small drop into a river. none of the airbags deployed despite having 13 points of impact. i had to extricate myself from the submerging vehicle. i the roads were paved with gravel on either side. i was traveling at 55mph, and following the curve of the road. *dt*jb

Since we bought our car it has had several recalls as well as electrical, computer based, and power train issues. none of which were explainable. we were sinply told to take it to jeep, put hundreds of dollars in to fix it and get it back. we've only had the car for abut 4 years. yesterday, within a month of the last occurence, our car has frozen on us and will not start. jeep hasn't done anything about this. we've known several other people who have had this same make and model who have had the same problems. we are not in a financial position to keep putting money into a car that should last us longer, or to sinply just trade it in since we still owe 10k on the car. this has also put our kids safety at jeopardy, has caused us loss of work days on top of putting us in a more financial burden. there needs to be something done about this. it is unfair that we soent so much money on a car that has malfunctioned several times due to being built so poorly.

Around 4:30 pm, after just a few seconds of leaving my driveway, a message came on that stated i needed to put the vehicle in park before i could shift gears and then my battery light and engine light came on. i pulled over, put vehicle into park & then shut it off. restarted it, but struggled to start.. attempted to restart a third time but was dead. turned the key to run to see what lights stayed on the dashboard the battery was still on while the engine light disappeared. after waiting about a half hour, my father in law was able to give me a jump. car started and was able to drive get the battery replaced. however i read last night similar complaints, with the battery not being the issue so my husband will be getting the previous battery we had, tested this weekend.

Jeep started shutting off while driving down the road, and the transmission shifts when it shouldnt and shifts really hard sometimes. i had to have ot towed to the dealership today, it would not restart after shutting down when i was drivivg

The car has jerked since i bought it two years ago and for about 6 months now it has been presenting a transmission issue. the car starts to flash with 'service transmission ' and the check engine light comes on - after that the car starts to get stiff and as soon as i come to a complete stop the car turns off the car turned off this happend twice and i took it into the local jeep dealership where they told me on me at stop lights both times - i was able to turn the car back on after about 5 mins and continue driving that it was not a transmission issue and fixed the recalls and i was on my way - then the car started to do this again it stopped on my three times in one week alone saying service transmission.

While driving anywhere the jeep stalls out it turns off and no warning almost got hit 3 times ..there's no warrning i have kids which me ..there is only 47000 miles on this we just got it .this happends while driving .

Car was bucking, jerking, stalling while driving in traffic. warning light said service transmission. however, service said code said emissions issue and no open recall.

Consistently since the vehicle was purchased, it will, without warning, stop while driving and remain incapacitated. will not turn on. dealer keeps saying it's low on oil even though when this happens i am usually several thousand miles away from next schedule oil change. get oil checked and topped off frequently. they still say it's low on oil not leaking. shows message shift to park then desired gear. after flashing message car is incapacitated. safety hazard. frequently known and reported from 2014 jeep cherokee sport owners. stalls while driving. will this be ignored until someone dies?

I was driving down the garden state parkway in nj around 6 or 7 pm when there was what sounded like an explosion. it turned out the rear windshield shattered while driving down the road. i did not see or hear anything hit the car and looking at the damage it looks like it is related to rear defroster because that is where the most damage is on each side.

When i'm driving my car will just stall without warning until the car becomes to a complete stop. this has happened to me at least 4 times beginning 10-27-18 and the last time was 11-08-18 and i had it towed to the dealerships designated shop and was told that they couldn't find anything wrong with it that could be fixed. they also told me they had other customers complaining about their jeep-cherokee stalling on the freeways and in the middle of traffic. my vehicle stall on me when i was driving on the streets and i would only get a few feet from home and one of those times the battery light would come on and another time the light came on for driving on on hill or something in that effect.

Hi i have brought my car into the dealership several times and continues to experience the same issues. when i drive (20-25 mph), the car jolts as if someone has hit me from behind almost as if the car is shifting or downshifting gears. when im approaching a stop light and gradually slowing down without my foot on either the gas or brake, the car jolts back and forth. this also occurs when im driving uphill and downhill around 20 mph. i am scared to drive my car as this is a risk that i will crash due to the shifting. i have brought the car in several times, they have told me they did a software update in which did not work, i experience everyday when i am driving and continue to be worse everyday.

Replace the front wheel bearings in the jeep in april of this year. in late october took the jeep back in for regular maintenance and it turns out that the front right bearing was already bad, the mechanic could move the wheel around with his hands. less than a few thousand miles were put on it.

When driving, engine will randomly shut off and display will show "shift to p then to desired gear". at one time it also displayed "battery low voltage" again, this happens randomly in our subdivision after accelerating from a complete stop or turning.

Takata recall. my jeep tends to randomly jerk while driving and coming to stops.

Approx a year ago-purchased 2014 jeep lattitude from dealer. on test drive felt hesitation in shifting. 1-2-3- gear- seller made note to check problem.took following day. in a day or so again noticed problem. made appointment. needed software update-now ok. test drive 3-5 miles. next day-same problem. mechanic noticed problem. needed trans replaced. trans for 2014 & 2015 jeep is a 9-nine speed trans. week later replaced with same type of 9 speed trans. picked up after serviced--within 10 minutes same prob.back to dealer-mechanic checked--could not duplicate problem--said runs like a 9 speed should. driiver is problem. not used to the operation/feel of a 9 speed. jeep slips gears, hesitation-safety concern-no pickup when from a stop or changing lanes on the roadway. did some research on google--500 plus documented cases -video of this problem by well known reporter/investigator. i paid a large sum of money for a unsafe vehicle--jeep is aware of well documented issues-also problem does not show up on scanner-so its not happening. dealer not giving me a fair deal on another vehicle. black hole with no light at the end. note: difficult to continue-recently out of hospital-and shake with parkinsons

My 2014 jeep cherokee trailhawk started having issues where traction control would engage when stopped at a light and it would stay on until the car was turned off. this progressed to an instance where i was stopped at a light and traction control engaged while stopped and the engine stalled. i took the car to the jeep dealership and the only code was to check wire connections, which they said they did. the car drove fine for about one day, then, while on the highway, the dashboard and radio would start to cut out briefly and come back on. once i was off the highway and stopped at a light, traction control engaged. at the next light, the car stalled again. i used a code reader and there were no codes available. this could cause an accident if the car loses power when driving at highway speeds.

I first experienced what felt like my transmission wasn't shifting properly right away. i noticed it in lower gears. i took it back to the dealership and they said everything was fine. i then started to experience my engine randomly stalling. i would be going slow and i was usually taking a right turn. i went to turn on my car and it said engine failure. i called the dealership and they said to tow it to them. i received a call that the reason my car ahut off was because there wasn't any oil. i have all my records and my oil had been changed at a dealership less than two weeks prior. so they put oil in it and said i was fine. within a week my car died turning right on rail road tracks in an instersection. we had to have a police officer come and push us off the tracks and wait for us to get towed. the dealership told my there was a harness that needed to be replaced and it would cost $700! they said that he harness was under my hood when i did research it was discovered that it was in my trunk. they said it needed to be replaced due to water damage. in my trunk? i did research and found this harness was a common issue but it didn't have anything to do with the issues i was having. now it is a year later and we are having the same issue. my service lights will turn on randomly. my engine stalled on the highway going 70 mph. i am at a loss what to do. my two year old has been in the car with me when this happens and i just want to know my car is safe to drive.

Alternator has died under 40,000 miles and requires replacement. vehicle is a v6 3.2l

When the vehicle was in motion, i was on a city street, the vehicle randomly stalled while driving 10mph. the dash screen stated, "place in 'p' then select gear." i then placed the car in park and tried turning the ignition but it did not start. i had to get a stranger to jump start my car and eventually the car started. this happened a few months ago and since then this has happened twice. the second time this happened, vehicle was in motion while pulling into a gas station on a city street and it randomly stalled. i turned the ignition and it started up. this is extremely dangerous and thankfully on both occasions there has been no car driving behind me.

According to owners manual and jeep, this vehicle is designed and capable of being flat towed behind an rv. there was a supplemental document from jeep advising if you experience a wobble when towing you need kit 683214ab. this needs to be mandatory as it happened twice in the last month after towing thousands of miles, the jeep will start violently wobbling when driving requiring the rv to fully stop in order to recover. on the two occasions, there was no warning. the first issue the car was swinging so much it damaged the rear passenger car tire rim by hitting the curb. luckily there were no bikers or pedestrian at the time. the rv was traveling less than 25 mph on flat street roads. the first time we turned a hard right and was +200 from the turn. the second time we turned left and about +200 from the turn. the jeep is configured with supplemental braking, lights, tow bar, and break away kit. we tow it with a 40' diesel pusher rv about 34k lbs. my request is to have jeep make this fix mandatory instead of elective.

My car started to stall out. i took it to my mechanic who advised that there was no oil left and that was the cause. there was no oil light that came on to indicate low oil. i was advised that my vehicle burns oil 3 times faster than other vehicles and that i would need to check the oil every day to make sure there is enough in the car. i was also advised to check if there were any recalls on my vehicle. i input the vin # and 0 recalls came out. now i also have a burning smell when i drive my car.
