Twice while driving my car it has died without any warning. the first time i was driving down a parking garage ramp and the car died and the brakes and steering while locked up. the message on the dashboard said press the brakes to shift gear. luckily i was able to shift the car in park after a few seconds and started the car again. the second time i was driving and was at a stop sign. when i went to step on the gas to go the car died out and this time there was no message on the dashboard and again after a few seconds i was able to restart the car. i took into the dealership and they said there was nothing wrong with the car and that they know that the vehicle shuts down if the oil gets low but my vehicle showed 30% oil so i know that was not the problem.
There is water entering the vehicle in the rear passenger seat and in the spare tire cargo area when it rains. it is pooling up in these areas and there are electrical components right by this.
Vehicle pauseses between shifts and shifts into neutral on higjway.
My transmission light tutned on. my vehicle would not start. sometimes my key would get stuck in the ignition. my vehicle would stay stuck on reverse, neutral. or drive. all this in a matter of two days. dealership said it was my transmission. turned out it was my control module. still having a hard time with the gears. they feel like i am driving an old car. i have less than 25,000 mi.
I bought my car in march 2014, since that time my vehicle has been in the shop 7 times for the same thing. i have been to 3 different dealerships since my car is still under warranty and continue to have the same problem. yesterday on my way home on a major freeway my car put it self in park and shut off this happened several more times until i pulled over somewhere safe to get it towed. i have 2 small children and feel the vehicle is very unsafe to drive i have contacted chrysler as well regarding this matter. i would like to know when it becomes a concern for people and there families for someone to take action. the dealer ship refused to work with me and put me in a safer vehicle because i am now upside done on this vehicle. so they wanted me to make a 900.00 dollar payment. this to me seems that the dealership and chrysler are more concerned with making profit and sales then they are keeping their customs safe. i hope someone opens their eyes to these types of situations. i called the national highway traffic and safety to report this and the lady on the other end of the line had no concern with dealing with it i asked to speak to a manager and was sent to a voice mail. good to know that we have these guys watching on backs when it comes to the safety of families.
I was cleaning my driveway and noticed a huge puddle of oil underneath my 2014 jeep cherokee. upon further inspection i noticed a substantial amount of oil puddled up around the oil cooler assembly. oil is splashing all over my engine compartment including the exhaust. i'm concerned of a fire starting so i'll have to repair it right away. the complain is simply this: the vehicle is barely 4 years old and has a major problem such as this. it could be a very big safety risk and have read up as it seems to be confined to the year 2014 of similar engine size or type such as 3.2 or 3.6 l v 6 engines.
Been having issues with my car every time i fill up. shortly after, the car acts as if it wants to shut off or it does. a few times the message i saw on the dashboard was "service transmission". if i am driving and there's no traffic, i can feel the hesitation as if it wants to shut off. in traffic it's worse, especially if i come to a complete stop. after a while, the car seems to resolves the issue, however, it happens again when i have to refill the car.
Vehicle transmission shifting to neutral while driving on the freeway. has happened a total of 6 times each time being 'repaired' with what the manufacturer recommends and never fixes the problem. reoccurs at max driving 100 miles after being fixed. these 9 speed transmissions are nothing but safety hazards and need to be taken out of all vehicles before more fatalities and injuries occur. the manufacturer could easily be found guilty of negligence, product liability, and reckless endangerment as it's been 4 years with absolutely no fixes and placing blame on the drivers of the vehicles.
Transmission shifting problem again the outer module was replaced because transmission locked up through the dealership i purchased it from worked well now it's starting to do it all over again ! note dealership has all documentation also there was former complaints file with chysler on this situation before [xxx] information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).' *pm
My jeep cherokee 2014 has been having engine problems since i bought it. last night was the worst experience, thats why im here. i was on the highway and the jeep just started to brake on its own. i was sliding in the snow and almost fliped. i was able to control the jeep. i had trouble pulling it to the shoulder of the highway. had to force drive to the side. would not go on reverse. when the town truck arrived,he had trouble putting it on tow truck. this problem needs to be looked at before someone dies over something that could have been fixed.
The radio and all functions related to this, including heat/ac, back up camera, environmental controls, hands free calling, intermitantly go off. sometimes when i start the car, need to wait 15 minutes or more before it starts. other times it fails when driving. jeep dealer stated the radio went bad and needs replacing. he also stated that he needs to replace these regularly
I pulled out of my driveway in reverse then pulled down my road in drive. going approximately 5 mph the car then popped a message saying 'shift to p them desired gear' the car was still on but would not accelerate even when i did what the message said to do. the second time this happened i did the same thing. but that time the car stopped accelerating in the middle of the road. took it to chrysler for them to say it needed an oil change. but the car did it again twice after the oil change. and now today march 21, 2018 the car did it 5 times in a row and once two days prior. except this time each time the car was turned back on the car would turn over but would act like it was fighting to turn on. as if i was turning the key too far over for too long. it took each time approximately 40 seconds to finally come on and drive. the fifth time the car stopped accelerating in the middle of the road. each time this has happened the car stayed running just would not accelerate.
Left visor no power also garage door opener no power wires smelled like they were burning while driving jeep later i found out no power left visor & garage door opener no power
After filling up the gas tank, i was stopped at a red light. my car started bucking, shaking and the service transmission and engine lights came on. the car told me to put it in park and turn it off. it would buck every time i tried to go from a stopped to starting position. i was stopped at a red light on a busy city street, at a busy intersection at night and terrified that i was going to get rear ended.
A couple of weeks ago while driving on a city street, i went from a stop sign and drove about 20 yards when my suv began to struggle to shift and i ultimately came to a complete stop and all the service lights came on. i attempted to continue but could not go forward even though the rpms were revving. i put it in park and waited a few minutes. then i put it in drive and it struggled to shift but i was able to move forward and make it to where i was going. later in the day it was laboring to accelerate mainly on city streets, not so much on the highway. since then it has been running normal, but i fear it's going to happen again.
My jeep is having transmission issues. it is displaying the service shifter on my dashboard and having difficulties shifting into drive. the last time it worked my car automatically turned the emergency brake on while i was driving to!!! i have exactly 40,000 miles.....
Every single night, i will be driving and the car is in motion and a light comes on the dash that says 'service shifter.' this car has already been marked as a lemon for this same exact issue, i have taken it to the shop 4 times in the year i have owned it to get the problem 'fixed' and it still is messes up.
The vehicle shut off without ability to steer or shift in the middle of driving. this has happened while driving on 3 separate occasions without resolution or explanation from mechanics or service managers as to why it's happened. there is also jerking or shuddering at vehicles without understanding or resolution on sporadic occasions.
I purchased this vehicle 2 years ago feb. 2017. i began having transmission issues within the first 10 months. because it was a certified pre-owed vehicle with a 1 year guarantee they fixed it by doing a new valve body and update. then it happened again after the 1 year guarantee but i had an extended warranty that covered it and they replaced the valve body again. it did well for almost a year and then it happened again. this time they said it was a wiring harness issue not the valve body and replaced it. not 3 months have gone my entire driveshaft basically seized up and this time they had to replace the drive shaft. this was all covered under my extended warranty. when i went to pick up the car i drove it away and it began to make a popping noise . i took it back they could not find it and sent me away. 3 months later i finally called planet honda where i purchase the vehicle and asked if i could get it in and explained the situation. they ran my vin and said there is an open recall with no solution.....they did tell me to bring it in and they would see what they can do. i am extremely frustrated. i have had my jeep in the shop 5 times for transmission issues in just over 2 years....i am so excited concerned that this is going to continue and soon my warranty will run out and then what will i do!?!?! not to mention the frustration of having to find rides to work while they figure out what it is and if its covered by my warranty and then worrying that they will not honor or fix it within the time my rental is good. i cant even put into words my frustration..... the first 3 time a my vehicle malfunctioned it was stationary. the 4th time it was in motion and i almost wrecked my car. currently im driving it with the popping noise coming from my transmission because i do not have any alternative... *tr*jb
The car does not fall into the proper gear and often seems like the gear has fallen into neutral and revs up although the gear shift knob is in drive. moreover the button on the gear shift knob has fallen off without any signs of damage. reported the problem to the dealer but dealer says the whole gear assembly needs to be replaced with parts cost of about $75 and a labor cost of about $145 totalling about @225. the issue was reported on the 37th month of vehicle purchase and the dealer was not ready to apply any consideration and confirmed that the charges need to be paid since the vehicle is out of warranty by a month
I am reporting a very unsafe life threatening condition , my vehicle randomly stalls out and will not restart for several minutes. the first time it happened i had it towed to the dealership because i was afraid to drive it. they informed me that jeep had a service bulletin for this exact concern and they had fixed it by reprogramming the pcm. i picked up the vehicle and about 4 days later the same thing happened while turning through a busy intersection almost causing a multi vehicle collision.seconds before the stall the red etc light came on. after the restart the etc light is off and the cel is on and the engine feels like it has reduced or no power. the stall always seems to happen on a turn. my vehicle is currently at the dealer but it appears that they have no idea what is happening. this vehicle is unsafe to drive and imposes a safety risk to everyone on the road.
Really bad problem with transmission as long as you're driving it just says service transmission and it's getting stuck is not going whatever you turn it off and then turn it on everything looks good i send it twice in the dealer they saying bring it in that moment i live an hour far from dealer and that's happening every day and as long as i'm going to the dealer they saying everything looks good
Hello, my 2014 cherokee sport, 38k miles, 2 wheel drive, has shut off on two different occasions within a 5-day period, without warning as i was driving on a busy road. several warning lights flashed on the dash and suddenly the car turned off. i bought it used 6 months ago. there was a recall #s55 for the transmission, part software and part hardware, that was reported to be complete when i purchased the vehicle, but it sounds like it may not have been completed since i am still experiencing random loss of power to the vehicle. or, perhaps the software upgrade part of the recall was complete, but the part was still not fixed. the local shop could not find anything, of course, and the dealer said that the problem was that the last oil change (2k miles ago) was with semi synthetic rather than synthetic oil, and that i needed to get the oil changed. that is one of the most bizarre things i have ever heard as a cause for engine cutting off. any ideas? it feels like a death trap and i am too afraid to drive it. after two car shops have attempted to find an issue and still tell me that "everything checks out fine" (other than the oil) i am at a loss.
The vehicle lurches forward when i come to a complete stop and entire cabin also vibrates when stopped. i can feel some thing is wrong as i am driving, as if the gears aren't shifting appropriately while driving city streets. vehicle is used and purchased through carmax about a year ago. however i've been having issues 4-6 months of purchasing and have taken it to a dealership several times and finally back to carmax, carmax advised they couldn't do any thing, the problem (whatever it was) would have to be handled through a jeep dealership.
While driving in the past week and a half the vehicle has turned off on me 5 times. the first 3 times i was driving on the street luckily i was able to coast to the side 2 of the times, not so lucky the other as i was stuck in a roundabout. the last two times occurred back to back on sunday march 19, 2017 once i pulled out of my parking spot. i have photos of what happens. monday march 21, 2017 the transmission light came on. i have not tried to drive it yet, but i will be taking it to the jeep dealership here in elk grove, ca. i tried to take the pictures as soon as it happened. vehicle did not turn off the day of the transmission light. also on friday march 18, 2017 i was completely locked out of the vehicle, my key fob did not work and i was unable to get into the car. it finally unlocked an hour after i was stuck outside of my gym at 1am in the morning.
The transmission slips and when your oil is low the car dies on you the car has died on me and on highways back roads pulling out of my driveway transmission is slipping all the time
Jeep engine shuts off while driving. it is extremely dangerous. the car just shuts off and needs to be put in park before it can be restarted. it has happened taking turns in traffic, getting on to the freeway, and while driving in traffic. 5x total.
When i push the gas pedal to accelerate the vehicle does not speed up for some time, i can have the gas pedal pushed to the floor and there is a very long lag time for the car to speed up and switch gears, it is extremely dangerous, i have put in reverse several times to back out of my garage and the car will not go in reverse, the entire car thumps back and forth and hesitates and takes some time to get in gear, my radio has stopped working twice, touch screen blacked out recently while in motion, when attempting to pass a car i can not safely get my speed up, its a real lemon and dangerous, i am waiting to get rear ended, pushing on gas pedal and engine revs up real loud but car does not accelerate like a normal car would, purchased 7 month ago and seems to be having more issues every day, was in a drive through with car on, foot on brake, and car in drive and took foot off brake and hit gas pedal and car did not go like it was in neutral, i had to put in park, turn off and turn on again to put in drive, this vehicle is not safe, will take it in for recall repair tomorrow and if not repairable will be traded, do not purchase, looks nice but terrible transmission
I started my car to warm it up and in about five minutes time the car was on fire. the vehicle was parked in front of my home. the fire department was called and was able to put it out. just a few days ago my insurance company told me the cause was due to an electrical malfunction. the car was a complete loss.
Tl* the contact owns a 2014 jeep cherokee. the contact stated that the vehicle was taken to a dealer for resolution to a recall related to a transaxle wire harness replacement. after the wire harness was replaced, the contact stated that the vehicle stopped accelerating. while driving 30 mph, the vehicle began slowing down and eventually stopped when the brake pedal was depressed. the contact also stated that the vehicle jerked while driving. the dealer and manufacturer were not notified. the failure mileage was 41,000. updated 05/30/17*lj updated 10/6/2017*js
When towed behind my 2012 fleetwood class a motorhome when you hit a bump on the road the jeep starts to wobble back and forth uncontrollably . the onily way to stop the wobble is to stop the motorhome and jeep in the road and then continue on after you check everything out. this happened 6-8 time from maine to ny.1
I was driving down highway rt. 18 s at 8:30pm on thursday november 10th when my panoramic sunroof exploded. it rained glass throughout the interior of my vehicle hitting myself and my 6 year old in the back seat. i was traveling approximately 70 mph when i heard the explosion and pulled off the highway to a shoulder. my fiance was following me and glass sprayed his car as well. the police were called as well as a tow truck. the police filed a report and checked the car for any obstructions.
While driving i felt a slight vibration and moments latter the car would try to shut down while losing power. after shutting down the car would not start again.
2014 jeep cherokee transmission jerks. took it to the dealer and they claim it's working as intended because it's a new technology. this transmission jerks and is very sluggish. i almost had an accident turning left at a busy intersection. the car did not want to accelerate. luckily incoming traffic slowed down enough for me to pass. i fail to believe that this is normal and also fail to believe that there's nothing the dealer can do. apparently there are thousands of other cherokee owners with the same problem. add me to the list. any suggestions on what else i can do?
Vehicle loses power while driving and fails to accelerate properly which poses a safety issue when driving on freeways where speeds can reach up to 70-80mph. the vehicle will only reach first gear and reach only a speed of 40 mph.
One morning i was driving to work in my 2014 jeep cherokee, and i lost all power going 30 mph. the dash lights went off, the radio went off, and the engine turned off. i coasted to the shoulder with no power. i called the fca recall assistance center and they suggested i get a diagnostic done. if the problem is due to the s55 transaxle wire harness recall, then they said i would be eligible for a loaner vehicle until the recall part was made for my jeep. i called my local jeep dealer and set up an appointment to get the diagnostic done. 2 days after my loss of power, i got a message on my dash that said "service 4wd." i'm deeply concerned about my safety, and the safety of my family in this jeep.
I brought my jeep in for the safety recall r40 radio security vulnerability on 9/16/16. they tried to do the software update 5 times over 4 and half hours. the result of the failure is not having access to the in car phone/rescue system, no navigation, no blue tooth, no radio or music access and no control over the heat/air vents, seat warmers or steering wheel warmer. i was told they needed to replace the radio. they told me it takes about 3-5 days. i followed up with them wednesday 9/21/16, thursday 9/22/16 and friday 9/23/16, as they told me it was on the way and i should just try back the next day. on friday 9/23/16 i was advised the part was back ordered and would not be there until the 1st week in october. on tuesday 10/4 i was advised it still had not shipped and they expected it some time next week. thursday 10/6 i was advised it's not scheduled to ship until 10/18. the continuous lies about when this will be fixed are exasperating. i feel unsafe in my car now and i have a 45 mile commute to and from work. i also pay for sirius radio and have been unable to use it since this happened.
On wednesday morning, august 24th, 2016, my wife was driving our 2014 jeep cherokee latitude in traffic when for an unknown reason the vehicle stopped dead, no warning, no coasting to a stop, an immediate very abrupt stop. the steering wheel locked up, the front wheel drive system locked up, the vehicle was unresponsive to any driver commands. my wife had to seek assistance in moving the vehicle to a safe location out of the traffic lanes. we seriously believe that this unintended and uncontrollable vehicle action is a safety issue inherent within this model of 2014 jeep cherokee. upon diagnosis by the local fca dealer, we were informed that the vehicles oem battery failed the load test and would be replaced under the jeep factory warranty, battery part number bb94r750-aa. the dealers service representatives seemed to be unconcerned with what in our opinion is a serious design flaw with this vehicle. the vehicle has received 3 previous software updates under factory warranty due to safety recalls.
Jeep cherokee: this is the worst vehicle i have ever purchased! i had my previous vehicle for 13 years 192,000 miles and never had trouble with it. the zf9 transmition sucks. i have survived several close calls and won't let my children drive it as i fear they will be in a car accident. the transmission slips, shifts hard, erratic and jerks you and your passengers around in the car. the dealership has not been able to fix this problem and i fear things will only get worse! i will never purchase jeep again.
The transmission sticks in neutral and i have to stop the vehicle, put it in park, engage the parking brake, disengage the parking brake, and shift into drive in order to fix the issue. there are several known issues with the 9-speed transmission. there have been two recalls and still giving me problems. i took it to the shop today. i have no idea how much this is going to cost.
Transmission issues. brought to the dealer twice in one week.
The transmission on this car makes it a death trap. i have experienced: the car not turning on or shutting off on its own (while driving) due to not enough oil in the engine, lunging, delayed acceleration, missing gears when shifting, loud bangs and noises when shifting, indicator lights malfunctioning, the list goes on. i have been to the dealer on numerous occasions (excluding the 6 times for recalls) and they don't even know how to fix these issues. i can't drive this car because i'm scared i'll die i can't sell this car because it has lost all value i can't afford another car right now
From the day i purchased my 2014 jeep cherokee, it has been shifting roughly. i took it back to the dealership the next business day and said something was wrong with the transmission. the service department did a "relearn," whatever that means. it did nothing. they said i had to drive it a while so that it would learn my driving behavior. it didn't so i took it back to the dealership again. the dealership did a software update and said to drive it 500 miles before the car's transmission would settle down. again, no change and i took it back to the dealership. the dealership said nothing could be done but i should drive it now 10,000 miles. after 10,000 miles i took it back to the dealership and they said they could not find anything wrong with it. that is the way it is supposed to run. i've driven many different types of vehicles over my life, from dump trucks to cadillacs and i have never experienced a transmission shifting so roughly or jerking so bad in any of them like it does in the 2014 jeep cherokee. this is the first vehicle that i've actually hated to drive and i believe that chrysler should buy it back. i would be out thousands of dollars is i traded it in.
Reported our problem in may 2016 -- received a recall notice months afterward, however, dealership said "didn't apply to our vehicle" - we had exact stated problem on the recall notice - so confused, frustrated, not to mention afraid to take vehicle on long trips on expressways - we rent cars for this (our problem: vehicle turned "off" completely in the middle of a busy expressway - we are lucky to be alive!)
I purchased a buyback vehicle with 2257 miles on it in november of 2014. at the time, it was disclosed to me the reason for the previous owners return of the vehicle was a fuse (although the paperwork indicates a wiring replacement). i've since had several repairs on this vehicle including a complete transmission replacement, cooling system, several module updates, software updates, and wiper motor replacement. the issues continue, and this vehicle cannot seem to be fixed. the bottom line is this: the vehicle is completely unsafe to drive. when in a stopped position going from park to drive, the car makes a loud boom, or banging sound almost like something fell off or out of the car. it's a recognizable sound that is unmistakable. in addition, while driving, the vehicle has a hard time accelerating, and strains, making another, yet different loud noise. it also is unable to slow down properly, as the rpm gauge fluctuates. there seems to be several issues with this vehicle that has already had its transmission replaced twice. it is clear that this vehicle cannot be fixed. i have since had several module and software updates in addition to the complete transmission being replaced, the issues still continue.
9 speed transmission slipping 1-3 gears issues does not engage engine revs but car does not go right away 1-3 second delay then lumps forward and burns the tires. i feel unsure pulling out into traffic. heavy traffic is scary not sure if will take off when needed.
Bought this car used january 1, 2016. the previous owner had it for a year and a half. great condition, about 40,000 miles on it, carfax checked out and i bought it from a chrysler dealership. on october 12, 2016, leaving work for the day, i drove about a block and the car shut off on me as i was leaving a stopped position. i had to put on my emergency lights and have cars go around me until it finally turned back on after several minutes of pressing the start button. luckily, all three times this happened at a stop on city streets, but there's no way of knowing if this would happen on the interstate. but even sitting stalled in the road puts me at risk if a car behind me were to not expect a stopped car and crash into me. i had this same issue back on april 11, 2016 & july 7th. the dealership on those occasions determined that was a sensor that was 'over sensitive' saying the oil levels were low and it was shutting the car off as a precaution. they asked for me to come back in every 2,500 miles to readjust the sensor. that's incredibly inconvenient for my busy lifestyle and it's already been in the shop for this reason for two weeks. today is the oct. 15th and i won't have a chance to even schedule an appointment for a week. we bought this car because we're planning on starting a family, with all of the issues i'm having, i'm not even comfortable giving friends a ride. i love this car, but feel really ripped off by being sold a car with problems they won't or fix. because i don't feel safe, i avoid the interstate and don't feel comfortable taking this car on any trips too far from home. also would like to note that on the first occasion of taking this car to the dealership, they had to update two pages of software updates and two safety recalls they had not done before i purchased the vehicle from them. they did take care of this at that visit.
While flat towing the jeep behind our tiffin motor home we experienced severe side to side rocking in the rv. had to come to a complete stop on interstate. we just received a notice of an addendum to owners manual concerning a wiring kit to be installed. we consider this a real safety issue but jeep does not. please advise as we thought the problem was the motor home but it appears to be the jeep cherokee.
Transmission failure while driving. car failed to accelerate while on a city street, transmission and parking light came on. when car was able to be re-started, loud "clunk" sound occurred when gears shifted. car had to be towed to dealership. fear for safety of me and my two children to drive car and have transmission fail and car stall while on the road. after researching and reading similar incidents that have occurred to countless others over a two year period, it is appalling that nothing has been done to warn customers of the deadly dangers of this car or that a recall or buyout has not happened. many of us are now stuck with these dangerous vehicles with no recourse as of yet.
Vehicle seems to have transmission problems. it has been at the dealership several times now due to shifting problems and loosing power while on the freeway. the rpm's seem to go very high and then drop to 0 with no warning. vehicle stalls out and thus far fca has had no resolution. this is a serious safety issue as it can occur while your accelerating to enter the freeway or while passing another vehicle. also a danger of loosing power at an inconvenient moment and potentially causing a crash from the rear. problem has been ongoing since december of 2015 with no solution as of the end of january 2016.
