Problems with 2014 Jeep Cherokee UNKNOWN OR OTHER

On average, the 2014 Jeep Cherokee starts to “feel” problems with the UNKNOWN OR OTHER and its various aspects after 40 639 miles.

Recently reported UNKNOWN OR OTHER problems on 2014 Jeep Cherokee

I started my car with push button ignition and it immediately accelerated to 4000 rpm and stayed at that speed for over 20 minutes. during that time, i was unable to turn the car off and could not shift the car. when the engine finally returned to a normal idle speed, i could shift the car but could not accelerate the engine. i would press the gas pedal and nothing happened...the engine remained running at idle. i called to have it towed to the dealer and after it sat for an hour or so , it was able to be driven on to the flatbed truck. the check engine light was on. after 5 days, the service manager called and said that they couldn't find anything wrong with the car. the check engine light was not on and there were no codes indicating a problem. they did nothing to find or address this problem and i'm concerned that it could happen again while i'm driving the car. i am also concerned that the engine could have been damaged by running continually at 4ooo rpm for over 20 minutes.. i would assume that this event was caused by a software problem, so i am confident that it will reoccur. frnkly, i am afraid to drive this car.

In less than a year chysler jeep has replace transmission, radio, read trunk door handle. dec 5 2015 car started jerking again like this may -july 2015 and then @3:30pm 12 /5 /15 cherokee stop in the middle of the intersection of 13 mile & utica. i had my 7yr old in the car and avoided traffic accident pulled over and it suddenly stopped again. fortunately was able to get home was only five minutes away. placed complaint to chrysler they towed the vehicle 12/7/15. however yesterday 12/7/15 @6pm roseville chrysler jeep dealership service:(888)409-5930 called to tell me it was my error that jeep cherokee stop working because it was "due an oil change in october". i told repair shop my husband and i need to speak to a manager because 1st i received no light signal or notification from this digital display stating i needed an oil change which is provided by 2014 jeep cherokee second there is no way the vehicle should have been dry out of oil unless there is leak or something caused oil to dry up. this vehicle is a lemon and is dangerous and all i want is to exchange for another vehicle that is not a cherokee. july 2015 chrysler customer care dept. said my case warranted a vehicle replacement but since roseville chrysler jeep have received their money from allay bank they refuse to assist me. this vehicle is dangerous and want to cancel my lease agreement - i pay my $380 lease on time every month i deserve a reliable vehicle from roseville chrysler jeep

When slowing down not coming to a full stop then accelerating my car does not want to move. there is an extreme hesitation, and then boom ~ the car jerks and finally goes. this has been happening for years now. i have had all the software updates ~ it is no better.

When driving at least once a week, the car will suddenly loose speed and will drop into low gear. a service note comes on the screen stating, "service transmission" and "service park brake." i am unable to have any control of the speed of the car. i have to turn the car off and turn the car off several times, until the transmission allows to switch speeds/gears. at first, when trying to accelerate the car will just drop out and not allow me to move forward. i feel extremely unsafe driving my vehicle especially when this happens on the highway in the middle of traffic. it has happened to me when going anywhere from 25 mph to 78 mph. i have taken it to the dealer where i bought it, and they seemed to find nothing wrong with the vehicle. i took my car to another dealer in another state, and they were still unsuccessful with finding out what is wrong with the vehicle. again, i feel completely unsafe when driving and i am just waiting to cause an accident or someone to rear end me because of the drastic lose in speed.

Car has been taken in to the dealer numerous of times due to transmission jerkin. in march 2015 the transmission was replaces and the jerking continuous. i have been taking the car in for the transmission jerking but according to the dealer they can't duplicate. as of november 26,2015; the car started to stall while in movement and i have to wait about 10 min for the car to start. so this means that the car stops in the middle of the street and freeways with going traffic and does not turn back on. it happened every day after that. on november 30, 2015; in a matter of 3 block the car stopped 3 times. i took the car to the dealer on december 1, 2015 and as of now they want me to pick up the car because they can not duplicate. to me is a matter of safety. i drive by myself with my 3 kids. i don't understand if they are waiting for something major to happen to me and my kids to do something about it. i have a trip planned for this weekend and honestly i don't even know if it would happen due to the insecurity of the vehicle. i have contacted manufacturing and they are doing nothing about it . also, a bbb claim was done because of the issues with the transmission and there was nothing done about it either. i and getting ready to do another bbb due to the stalling as well.

I received notice of recalls, numbers r27 and r39. bakersfield jeep states that they have no parts to repair the defects and there i no timetable for getting such parts.

Vehicle becomes unstable and shakes violently when it is being towed behind my moterhome with a towbar. the tow bar has been damaged twice and car almost departed from the tow vehicle at highway speeds. chech engine light comes on.the only way to stop shaking is to come to a complete stop . you can see a video of a similar jeep on youtube at " 2014 jeep cherokee shaking"

I have a full sun roof on my 2014 cherokee and it makes excessive noise. it sounds like one day it is going to leak after all the excessive possible movement what might be going on above. just was wondering what you intend to do with that. i have brought up to chris holmes at the dealership in fond du lac, wi; but basically he states to live with it. very annoying for me and my passengers. so what's the solution? plus last year was the same.

There is weather stripping on the rear lift hatch between the spoiler and the lift hatch that is coming unglued. this is a new vehicle and the trim should not be coming off. also, the rubber trim on the rear riverside door/wheel is coming off.

On 10/18/2015, while flat towing my 2014 jeep cherokee at approximately 60 mph on i-5 near san clemente, ca behind our rv, we suddenly experienced a violent side to side swerving sensation. while working to control the rv, i viewed via the rear camera, the cherokee rocking side to side, violently shaking the rv. the 2014 jeep cherokee is specifically designed to be flat towed behind the rv, and was connected to the rv with a blue-ox towing system. i had previously towed the jeep cherokee approximately 14,000 miles prior to this event with no problems. the violent swaying continued through the braking process, and did not cease until the vehicle came to a complete stop. after stopping on i-5, a preliminary investigation did not identify an obvious cause such as a flat/soft tire on the rv or jeep, loose or damaged tow bar. i slowly exited the interstate and parked in a safe location for a closer inspection. turning the jeep's ignition to "on" without starting, i noticed my check engine light and electronic stabilitycontrol light were illuminated. after checking various rv forums, i discovered that others with 2014 jeep cherokees had experienced the same issue which seems to resolve itself after stopping the vehicle. i continued on my journey without any additional problems and the warning lights on my dash reset within a day or so. it appears to be a unique problem to 2014 jeep cherokees according to various rv forums. my 2014 jeep cherokee is equipped with the active drive ii transmission specifically designed for flat towing behind my rv.

My car has the following problems: it jumps when i remove my foot from the pedal right after i start my car. it self accelerate while i'm driving. jerks forward when i first start driving the car sudden unintended acceleration.

Jeep has loss of power between 0-5 mph; 25-35 mph and 55-65 mph. after more than 3 dealership visits and flash module and software updates the vehicle has gotten progressively worse with loss of power and now uneven shifting including jerking when shifting. if you press the gas pedal down there is a delay before the vehicle goes. i have had these issues from the get go 3k miles and now have 8.5k on it with no fixes or end in sight. fca has had little to no communication with me up to this point and am still waiting on a call back from them.

I flat tow this vehicle behind a motor home all in accordance with jeep specs. jeeps have been a popular vehicle for towing for many years. while towing the vehicle will, without warning, begin lunching side to side violently. it is so violent that it starts the entire 27,000 pound motor home rocking side to side. watching in the rear camera it appears that the wheels are turning from side to side and that the jeep is trying to roll over. because of the safety and fear of mechanical damage i have stopped towing this vehicle. talking in the rv community i have found that this is a consistent problem with jeep cherokee's manufactured since 2014. the problem occurs at different speeds and with different manufacturer tow bars. there is a video posted on youtube where you can see exactly how violent and dangerous this is - https://youtu.be/0ntdckriasw. this has happened to me on 4 occasions. the last one is shown below on this form happened while towing at 60mph and i refused to tow the car on the return trip. the jeep in the youtube video is being towed at 25-30mph. coming to a complete stop is the only way to stop the lurching. i view this as a very hazardous condition and believe a smaller, lighter rv could be turned over by this very possibly causing serious injury.

I was parked on a slight hill and put my car in park and it started rolling backwards.

I was driving down the highway. when i heard a loud gunshot noise and glass everywhere. i looked up and noticed it was my sunroof. there was no cars in front of me. because the first thing i thought maybe a rock hit it. but as i got out and looked and check out the incident sunroof was pushed up. meaning if the rock cat hit it it would be pushed in towards the vehicle. since it was pushed up believe me to think the engine may have misfired or some kind pressure was in the vehicle that needed to be released. my truck is now in jeep being investigated buy jeep to see if it's something that they are responsible for which they are. but i know they are going to try and put it on my insurance and then we are going to have big problems.

Several times while i was driving the digital dash display went blank, red "battery" indicator came on, "no bus" fault message appeared, the headlights went off, the turn signal did not work, radio did not work, door locks would not work (lock/unlock). the safety issue is to lose function of headlights and turn signal while driving. also if a crash were to occur, i may not be able to exit my vehicle in an emergency, due to not being able to unlock my doors. between august 27, 2015 and september 14, 2015 this occurred four (4) separate times. the vehicle was turned in for service each time this occurred. the problem is intermittent, during driving it can come and go. service department at authorized jeep dealer stated that they do not have any instrumentation to troubleshoot can bus and they can not duplicate the issue. i would pull over into a safe area and take photos of the dash showing the faults. service department can only reset faults as displayed on a tablet when plugged into the vehicle. again dealer has no tools to look up bus problems, electrical contact issue, etc.

I had a roll away incident back around august 25th 2015 i pulled into my driveway and put the car (2014 jeep grand cherokee overland) in park .i turned it off and exited the car. it started rolling forward so i jumped back in the car and put on the brake then moved it backwards a little and exited the car again. again the car was in park and shut off.as i was walking away from the car it rolled forward again about 8 feet .i know it was in park, when it was not in gear. i got out of the vehicle and it started to roll back on me. i quickly jumped back into the vehicle to stop it without accident, this time. now i put a block in front of the tire so it wont roll away.i wont park it on a hill.dealer cant seem to find a problem.

The car did not accelerate when peddle was pushed (in heavy traffic) then jumped suddenly to accelerate into oncoming traffic. this vehicle has had complete valve body failure in less than 3,000 miles and numerous updates to the computer because of uneven shifting and acceleration. the latest update seemed to work better for a few weeks and now is worse than previously. the chrysler dealer (ron carter alvin texas) refuses to return my calls for service or to set a service date.

I had my dealership due the r-40 update for my uconnect system. ever since that update over 2 months ago i have been unable to use my navigation. it says that navigation is being updated. i get told from my dealership that chrysler is working on it and has been since it happened but yet there is nothing else about this on any website?

2014 jeep cherokee defective transmision problem - on july 31, 2015 i was stoped at a traffic light. when the traffic in front of me moved i placed my foot on the accelerator; but the car did not move. the car stalled/died while in drive. i noticed that several indicator lights went on the parking brake indicator and what i believe is the slip indicator or stability control indicator. the little green indicator light next to the drive position of the gear shift was also blinking on and off. this was not the first time the vehicle stalled/died while in motion. several previous times the same thing occurred, once while my wife was driving in traffic and once while backing out of the driveway. during this most recent incident my vehicle was almost struck by other moving traffic. my wife was also almost struck by moving vehicle traffic when the car stalled/died while she was driving it. prior to these incidents we had trouble with our jeep cherokee shifting hard. recently we learned that since the 2014 jeep was put onto the market there were reports of similar incidents which has been traced to defective transmission in the 2014 jeep cherokee. we were never told about this defect with the transmission when we leased our cherokee in august 2014 - even though the dealer was obviously well aware of the defect. my wife and i consider this to be a safety problem and it is a miracle that we were not injured in the above incidents.

On tuesday, july 28, 2015 12:12pm on interstate 91-s at 65mph in the middle travel lane, i was surrounded by multiple tractor-trailers. my dashboard suddenly lit up like a christmas tree. i immediately attempted to get to safety. the car's speed dropped dramatically without warning, even when i applied the gas. at least two tractor-trailers just missed hitting me. i narrowly managed to get to the right side of the highway. on friday, july 31, 2015, executive jeep reassured me that the vehicle was repaired and safe to drive. i expressed my concern about it being safe; the service advisor re-assured me that it was. on monday, august 3, 2015, just 7 days after the vehicle failed me, i was en route to work on 91-n i was traveling in the middle lane surrounded by multiple vehicles. again, the dashboard lit up like a christmas tree. i was almost hit by other vehicles while trying to make my way to the right side of the highway. the car's speed dropped dramatically without warning, even when i applied the gas. for the second time in one week, the vehicle failed in the same manner and i narrowly managed to get to the breakdown lane. chrysler insists that this vehicle is safe to drive. this is the third jeep cherokee in connecticut that i am personally aware of that has the same defect; this is unacceptable. i purchased a new jeep to be safe; my experience with jeep has been far from that. i am stuck paying of an unsafe vehicle. narrowly avoiding being killed twice in this vehicle is enough for me.

Backed out of driveway then warning light/symbol and tone came on that the 4 wheel drive system was unavailable and service required, service airbag warning came on as well as service parking brake, limped back into driveway barely. turned vehicle off restarted still getting warnings and tried to move vehicle motor revved but vehicle didn't move forward or reverse. got another warning to put vehicle into park then select gear. currently waiting for tow truck. jeep won't move in drive or reverse now. suspect transmission issue.

I bought a pre-owned certified jeep cherokee 2014 from david's dodge, jeep, and chrysler last week monday, june 6th, 2015. i had a major issue occur a week later on the highway while traveling 65 mph the car loss traction control, 4 wheel drive, and the ability to accelerate. i was in a cattle shoot and had to coast the car down the highway to pull over. a service engine light along with warnings about the traction control and transmission were shown. i pulled to the side of the road and put the car in park which resulted in a hard jerk from moving the clutch from drive to park. i restarted the car and the car was idling at an abnormally high rpm. i put the car in drive and noticed a jerk once again when moving through the gears. the car also shifted very hard for about 45 more miles. i called the dealership who informed me that my car required an update to the transmission which was preformed that day. as an engineer i find it unacceptable that the dealership sold a car with the potential to crash on the highway due to negligence with regards ignoring a crucial update like the transmission. after the update to the transmission the car is shifting very hard from gear to gear and seems to be giving a shallow shift to 1st gear when the car is at a complete stop. monday, 13th, 2015, i have an appointment for two other issues a squeak in the rear passenger seat and an interference issue with the sirusxm. as an engineer it is obvious that there is a deep underlying problem with the 9 speed transmission i will be asking for the dealership to replace the transmission as the update was not effective causing rough shifting and a loss of acceleration in the shift from high to low gears.

The day after we bought the jeep the check engine light came on ,took back to dealer they reset system. i took in couple months having the jeep for shifting hard , stalling and not much power up hills. they often told me when taking it to dealer they can't duplicate my problem. after taking in to dealer several times on 5/08/2015 they finally replaced my transmission , it had died on me at a busy intersection wouldnt shift and check engine light on. when got my jeep back still had the same problems and airconditioner was'nt working properly. so as of now my jeep back at the dealer for accelerating on its own, stalling,no power, shifting hard and dead gas pedal at times while driving. i have talked with the service manager today and he says they can't fix it if shows no code or he can't duplicate the problem. thats the story i get when taking it to the shop . i have tried to get them to buy it back and haven't gotten anywhere with that as of right now. i feel that this jeep is so dangerous that i don't wana drive it anymore.

While descending down a hill with a moderate slope, i applied light braking to slow my 2014 jeep cherokee slightly. during the light braking, the vehicle suddenly shifted into a lower gear and the engine rpm increased from approximately 1500 rpm to 3000 rpm. this would seem to be normal, except that rather than slowing the vehicle down, the lower gear actually caused it to speed up, which then required more braking. this has happened several times, fortunately, the road conditions were good. if this should occur during wet or icy road conditions, there is a good chance the vehicle will skid. the transmission has also slipped during acceleration, which can also create safety hazards, as well as future quality issues. fca has had many issues with the transmissions in their new jeep cherokees, but do not appear willing to find a serious solution to a serious problem. please consider forcing a recall on the 2014 jeep cherokee, before serious safety issues begin to occur.

When going from a stopped or slow speed to a quicker speed the jeep does not respond. it stalls, sometimes in the middle of a road, then will suddenly kick very hard and finally get going. the ca does this if i am merging onto a highway, going on a green light, or pulling into traffic (turning left or right). the way it is acting it is extremely likely that i will be hit. this has been happening for several months. i have take to two different dealerships and told two different things. one saying there was a software update they did that should take care of it, would not explain the update to me. the other saying they could not replicate the problem and everything seems to be operating fine and that this is just the "new 9 gear transmission deciding on a gear"

Upon acceleration from full stop my jeep made a loud clunking sound from the rear of the vehicle which felt like something was jammed in the axle. had the vehicle towed to courtesy motors in danville, il and they replaced the rear differential. they refused to provide a loaner although it took 4 days to repair. when i picked it up on 5/26 the same issue was still present. i was told to "baby it" on my 4 hour drive home and take it to my dealer. my dealer identified the 2nd issue as the power transfer unit which is being replaced as well. my dealer gave me a loaner but 13 days in the shop to replace such items on a vehicle less than a year old is seriously concerning!

Recall p37. we have brought our vehicle into the dealer, stew hansen dodge on hickman ave in clive, iowa in december 2014 and was told it would take 2 weeks to order the parts to fix the rear shocks because after inspecting the vehicle they determined that it would need to be replaced. we never received a call from them about the issue. we contacted them again and took it in today, may 15, 2015 to get it fixed and they never fixed it again but wrote on the sheet they ordered the parts but never told us they failed to complete the recall. this location refuses to fix out vehicle.

Driving home, the car suddenly shifted from drive to neutral. alarm sounded and a message of shift to park and restart. engine light came on dash display. the engine continue to run, but there was no power to the transmission. we coasted off the road. i put the car in park and it restarted. after a few seconds the transmission re-engaged. we were near the dealer where we purchased the car. they gave us a loaner and kept the car. we were advised there was a recall on transmission module and powertrain module. we picked our car up from the dealer and it seemed fine. but on 5/20/15 we experienced the same problem. the dealer said they reprogrammed the electronics and road tested the car and all was well. on 6/4/15 we had the same failure. we just missed having another vehicle run into us since the car just stopped it's forward progress. the dealer has the car now. the said they have no idea at this time (3:00 pm) what the problem could be. the first two failures weren't bad because we were the only vehicle on the road. the third failure nearly caused an accident. i just spoke with the service department. they said the vehicle had failed during a test drive, but they cannot isolate the failure at this time.

I have had my jeep for a short period of time & have had many recalls, now there is a huge article in the paper about a buy back. how do i know if i'm in that? [xxx] information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).' *jb

Drivers side instrument cluster keeps going black so i can not see the mileage, gas gauge, speedometer or any other warning lights that might be present while driving the vehicle. i have taken it to the dealership many times and they just keep resetting and reconfigure the modules and a few months later it will happen again until the cluster unit was finally replaced and now again the same thing is happening. this has never happened while driving but just out of the blue when i go to start the vehicle the dash will not light up, all recalls on this vehicle are up to date. i bought the cherokee in may 10, 2014 and it was in the shop with this issue on april 4, 2015 and has been in the shop off an on since that time. it is currently as of this moment in the shop for the same problem and i am currently driving a loaner car.

On 3/17/2015 i took my vehicle to local jeep dealer for 2 separate recalls- one for the airbag and one for the transmission. i had not had any problems with the vehicle but had received a notice in the mail advising me of the recalls. at that time an electronic transmission "upgrade" was made. when i left the service the transmission was "missing" and when i called the service dept i was advised that it may take a few days for it to normalize. i took the vehicle back on 3/26 and the service dept manually reprogrammed the transmission. this still did not fix the problem and i took the vehicle back on 4/14 and they tried another fix which did not fix the problem. i then took the vehicle back on 5/5 and the service dept contacted jeep and was advised that they were working on developing a new software but that it may be a few months before this was available. i was advised to take the vehicle home and they would contact me. the vehicle transmission completely stalls on an incline and almost completely comes to a stop. the vehicle also skips gears when trying to press the gas at times. i was advised that this had happened to other jeep vehicles when the "upgrade" was done but that the program to fix it was still being worked on and it may be some time. this is a safety concern as we almost got rear-ended several times because the transmission missed gears and would not go. the other safety concern is the almost complete stall on an incline. this vehicle is made to climb rocks and go in different weather conditions and this could cause a major accident.

While driving my car through an intersection, while pressing the gas, the car's transmission acted like it was in neutral. this was disturbing because at the time i needed power. the car did this 3 times. i put the car in for service and without an engine light on there was nothing they would do. 6 months later jeep realized that it needed a new transmission. they replaced the transmission and now every time i come to a stop the car jerks. it feels completely unsafe and this car scares me. i have a family of 5 and i am now subjecting all of us to a potential unsafe situation. i informed the service department with no response (to date). i will keep trying, but they say they drove it 22 miles and it was fine. it is not fine. it is scary and negligent. they have admitted that there are many transmission problems and that they're working on them. the car is a year old and has never felt quite right.

When going from a stopped position accelerating there is an obvious shake or shimmy in the front end of the vehicle. this seem to be more prevalent when turning right. the vehicle has been taken to the dealership three times now. they have rotated the tires, balanced the tires and put 2 different replacement parts on (i am unsure as to what the parts are) and none of these things have solved the problem.

I purchased a new jeep cherokee on september 1, 2014. approximately six months after purchasing my new cherokee i started noticing it was rough when shifting gears. almost like i was driving a stick shift but didn't know how. i took my car to ron lewis in cranberry township, pa to get the recall updates on the software and ever since i've been experiencing problems more frequently. the first problem that occurs every time i drive my vehicle is when i am drifting down hill, not on the brake or gas. my engine revs like the vehicle is in neutral and i'm stepping, but it does not accelerate, and my rpm shoots up between 4 and 5. this happens all while going around 15-25 mph. the only way to get this to stop is to slam on the brakes, or shifting into neutral. i am also experiencing an acceleration in speed which happens when i'm coming to a stop at a red light or stop sign. i took my vehicle back out to ron lewis in cranberry township on july 24, 2015 with approximately 7,700 miles on it and explained the problems continuously occurring. i did research online to see if other people were having similar issues with their cherokees and found seven pages of complaints from 2014 and 2015 cherokee owners all having the same, or similar issues. i showed this information to a service advisor so they were aware i wasn't the only owner having these problems. when i finally heard back from the dealership they told me they checked for any software updates and that i had all the latest updates. they then informed me since there were no check engine lights on there was nothing more they could do for my vehicle. saturday july 25th i took a video driving down hill between 15-19 mph, engine revving very loud like the vehicles in neutral, and my rpm accelerating passed 4. i called the service advisor letting him know and i haven't heard anything back from the dealership yet.

2014 jeep cherokee .on thruway passed tractor trailer and moved into right lane digital reads 0. message display something about not being able to shift while in motion. shifter 'd" still lit red. pulled over to a stop. had to shut off and restart. june 2 on thruway in left lane. digital reads 0. same message as above plus '4wd is unavailable' shifter 'd" is still lit and 4wd is in "auto". just 2 hours ago pulling into my driveway. digital reads 0. same two messages . now shifter "d" is flashing 4wd lit in "auto". first 2 times they tell me they can't find problem. no codes they say and can't duplicate when they drive it around the block.can't wait to hear what they say tomorrow. car has needed 5/6 updates since i brought it home march 2014.one of the updates was after the first incident. something called a 'snap ring' .i just had it in for oil change a month before.i also had an oils change a month before the second incident. they said no updates that day but it needed 4 when i brought it in after last weeks incident.all 3 times the electrical was still on.nice to know i can die in a firey crash but still listen to tunes. i hope you can help. what an i supposed to do?

Vehicle makes a loud whistling noise when the vehicle starts up, is idle, and when it accelerates vehicle also jerks when it shifts gears.

2014 jeep cherokee wrangler 2.4l 4wd. vehicle shuts down completely during driving operation. this has happened off and on since last fall (2014). happens multiple times during commute, including when engine is first warming up and when vehicle has travelled for some distance. some days it does not occur at all. engine temperature seems to have no relation to incidents. speed has no relation as it has occurred at 5mph up to 65mph. ambient temperature has no relationship as the temp has varied from 0 to 80 degrees f. took to chrysler dealership shop on 12/30/14 - chrysler dealership shop did not find cause but did update bcm based on tsb. problem continues to occur. 5/20/15 - 2015 jeep cherokee back in shop for same issue.

I received a safety recall notice over 8 months ago from fca--p60. nhtsa# 14v-634. it involves the alternator diodes that may experience a rapid failure. the parts are still not available from jeep. my dealership has put me on a "waiting list." obviously the responsibility is on jeep--not the dealership. considering the potential danger of the alternator failing, can someone intercede? this is a tragedy waiting to happen to the affected drivers. (see redacted paragraph from recall notice below). the driver will have limited or no detection of the alternator failing, which can result in vehicle shutdown while driving and/or an underhood electrical fire.

Since getting this vehicle in oct. 2014 we have had nothing but problems with it. the car switches gears when it shouldn't and lunges forward. also when you slow down to stop the car lurches and shakes before coming to a complete stop. sometimes you can feel the pedal pumping under your foot when you are moving slowly in traffic. whenever you are going up any type of hill the engine sounds like it is going to explode. we have taken it to the dealership where we purchased it numerous times and continue to just be told that it is a known issue with 2014 jeep cherokee's. there is also a clicking noise by the tires whenever your make a turn. we also took it to the dealership for this and they claim they didn't notice anything. it sounds like the wheel is going to fall off! we should not have these problems with a car that has less than 20,000 miles on it! i cannot wait to get rid of this jeep. i've had older cars in the past and had not nearly the amount of problems as i have had with this jeep. it doesn't feel safe to drive. jeep is well aware of this issue yet they continue to do nothing about it.

The jeep cherokee has a plastic skid plate underneath. the first incident happened when i hit a puddle of water, pulling the front edge of the skid plate loose. at that point, anytime my speed reached 45mph it would vibrate, making a very loud noise. i called the dealership and took it in the next morning. the tech said he sees this all the time, the plate is held on with plastic bolts. they repaired in 30 min, no paperwork. the same thing happened again in feb2015. i took the vehicle in to the dealership for an oil change and asked that they re-secure the skid plate. i was advise it was done. it happened again in mar2015, and i returned to the same dealership for this problem, along with several recalls. i was told they would put metal screws in to repair it. the 4th time it happend was june2015, mileage appx 7500. this time was much worse than prior, as when the skid plate came loose, the plastic was flipped under so it was dragging the ground at all times (not just vibrating at increase speed).

When flat towing our 2014 jeep cherokee with active drive ii on a rough road at a speed of approximately 45 mph, the car vibrated so badly it shook our 30,000 lb motorhome so badly that we had to completely stop the rig and then resume movement. the second time this happened we were on hwy 116 near petaluma, ca and we were in heavy traffic and the roadway had no verge. it was only by luck that we did not wreck or cause a wreck. owner forums indicate this has happened to other jeep cherokee owners. why doesn't chrysler motors have to fix this? we could have been killed or killed someone. this happened three times in the sam general area but there was no safe place for us to pull over and disconnect the jeep. please help us.

Purchased 3/20/14 transmission issues started at approx. 5200mi delayed shift, sharp hard shift at low speeds , ie. under 25mph , intermittent, non-predictive occcurence every couple of weeks, then began to increase frequency, problem persisted even after software upgrades and got worse after most recent software upgrade, transmission shifting was all over the board in delayed, short and rough shift along with lurching forward on occasion dealer has not been effective or pro-active in dealing with this issue, transmission is not performing as designed is mal-functioning almost on a daily basis, the lurching, lunging forward is a definite safety hazard, once it almost lurched into the car ahead of me service invoices are available

After doing my homework and research on a vehicle with #1 safety ratings in its class, i am now in a constant state of fear for the safety of not only myself and my family, but to any other innocent people around me. i travel as little as possible in a vehicle that i am still in debt a very large sum of money on. i took delivery of my 2014 jeep cherokee trailhawk, 4x4 on may 28, 2014. the first issue occurred on july 31, 2014 when the vehicle felt as though the engine dropped out into the street of my neighborhood, disabling the vehicle completely; it was not drivable, nor would it shift into neutral in order to get onto the tow truck. (the transmission and emergency braking systems failed) to make an incredibly long story short...i have experienced this same event as well as many others continuously over a 14 month period in regard to failure of my emergency braking system as well as my transmission to include: jerking so much that my purse flies from seat onto floorboard, jerking that causes my daughter to lunge forward into the back of the front passenger's seat, a stalled vehicle on busy highways and streets on numerous occasions, sudden engagement of emergency brake with the inability to release the brake while stopped at traffic lights; i could go on and on. after a total of 20+ trips to the dealerships for repairs (8-10 of these of which were via tow truck), (3) new transmissions, several repairs and modifications to the emergency braking system...my vehicle is still currently out of commission and not in my possession. i received a call on tues. of this week from the dealership to inform me that a resolution was made; yet another transmission would be installed in my death trap of a vehicle. (this makes #4) to say that this is clearly the definition of insanity is an understatement. something drastic needs to be done before people are killed.

Vehicle shifts from park into reverse without anyone touching the shift lever. vehicle also changes gears occasionally when driving, e.g., shifts from reverse to drive when backing up, or reverse to neutral. reported to dealer immediately in july 2014 (not aware of problem) and chrysler on 9/29/14 and again 9/9/15. we are now vigilant when shifting gears and before initial acceleration. once moving, the jeep stays in the gear selected, e.g., hasn't shifted out of drive while driving down the road. the shift problem is a progression downward, i.e., park to reverse, reverse to neutral, reverse to drive. unfortunately my wife had another and potentially serious incident this weekend when she parked on level ground, placed the jeep in park, left the engine running, got out of the jeep (briefly to check on something), then the vehicle shifted into reverse and started backwards. my wife had to run and jump into the moving jeep to stop it. on this occasion, she wasn't even in the jeep and there were no passengers, so no one touched the shift lever. there was a significant pause (i.e., time to get out of the jeep and start to walk away) before the jeep changed gears. on the occasions when the jeep shifts from reverse to drive, we have been fortunate that no person or object was close to the front of the jeep and the driver was alert and able to stop within the first few feet; we will not always be so lucky. other manifestation of this shifting problem is when shifted to reverse, we watch the indicator say reverse then, after a noticeable pause with no one touching the gear lever, the jeep will shift into neutral or continue into drive. knowing that this is a problem, we watch the shift sequence closely and catch this "slipping out of gear selected" problem to avoid an accident. is this a drive by wire electrical problem?

Started car in the garage, put the car in reverse and the dash lights were blinking and the radio display flashed and said service trans and the service trans stays lit. had the car towed to the fuller dealer on rt 22. somerville nj. got the car back 8/8/14. the transmission continues to give me problems while shifting. at time i can step on the gas to accelerate and the car doesn't move than all of a sudden will rush forward. slowing down and going around a turn is the worst because stepping back on the gas the car feels as if it's going to stop then at once it will rush forward as if i was stepping on the gas all the way to the floor. had the car back and on 8/21 was pulling out of the driveway at work and heard a terrible grinding noise and lost ability to steer the car. had it towed and the dealer called the next day to tell me that the left front axle had snapped and was probably a defective one from the manufacturer. i want to get rid of the car because i don't feel safe driving it. i'm afraid if i ever need to step on the gas to get out of the way of something, i will not be able to and will be involved in an accident. terrible transmission and will be discussing my concerns with my lawyer.

The transmission is late to put into gear. it is a very hard and late shift. when coming to a stop the vehicle will not go after stop, almost like puts itself into neutral and with enough gas will pop back into drive. has happened many times when coming out into traffic making it very unsafe and nearly causing accidents. *tr
