STARTER ASSEMBLY 8 IGNITION 3 12V/24V/48V BATTERY 3

Recently reported ELECTRICAL SYSTEM problems on 2013 Honda Accord

As i was making a left turn all the dashboard lights turned on. i took it to autozone and they told me there is something wrong with rear tire on the passanger side

When turning my steering wheel while driving my engine shuts down and restarts. when this happens my steering wheel locks up

Vehicle would occasionally not start. when pressing the button, a static noise is heard. the starter is spinning, but not engaging with the torque gear. the starter motor has been replaced three times but the result is the same. these start issues are a daily occurrence. the only way it starts is if i shift to neutral and try. occasionally that doesn't work and i have to shift back to park and try to start it there.

The car is having starter issues. randomly will start and then won't. there are thousands of complaints about this on the internet. same make and model, same issue. the system or starters are obviously defective and should be recalled. this has been an ongoing issue for quite some time for us- at least a year or more.

The vehicle was parked and stationary, once it was turned on the (eps) electrical power system light was displayed on the dash. steering wheel was then difficult to move or turn. the indicator was constant from that point.

I think this might be my 3rd complaint, i love honda and have had honda cars for years, but this has really tested my patience. for the last 4 years i have gone through 3 starters and 2 alternators, every time i contact honda they tell me to drop the car off so they can test it, i pay them $130 so they can tell me what they already know. my problem is that starter issue is very common, and there is no long term fix for this issue. so the issue is back, i end up getting stranded in places for hours at a time, and sometimes even end up being late to work, due to my starter spinning away until i can get it to catch eventually. i took it to get appraised the other day, and it wouldn't start ofcourse, the dealer refused to look at the vehicle ofcourse, because no one wants to sell a lemon. at this point, i am either looking for honda to buy my car off me, replace it, or come up with a permanent fix. if you go on youtube and type in honda starter issue you will find plenty of videos, and i also have reciepts for all the trips my car took to the dealer. i am not going to install a 4th starter, that is that rediculouse, i refuse to go to a honda dealership again for them to tell me what i already know.

Battery drains often. have changed the battery twice & i believe i will have to change it again. i believe it's the charging system for the battery

In 2018 my battery went dead and the lines were corroded. battery was replaced. 3 months ago my car started to not start randomly. all lights on dash lit up, starter making noise as if it is starting, car doesn't start. this was about once a week but is now up to ten times a week. i looked it up online where others reported the same problem, said put it in neutral and it will start (true) and that hondas were having trouble with connection to batteries. said step one was to change out sensor until part became available to fix this problem and to contact recall with vin number to get vehicle fixed. i had a recall on a sensor a couple of years ago and took car in for same and had work done--not sure if this is same problem or not, but as i was able to look the exact problem up online with explanation and solution how to circumvent problem i expected to see a recall about this. please advise what my next step is. thank you. 2013 honda accord caught on fire in our complex on sunday 6/9/2019. the car was stationary for about 4 hours prior to the vehicle catching on fire. we were called by our neighbor that the car was on fire just before 4pm that day. when we got back, the fire department had just put out the fire. a police report was also filed. the car is also is part of an active recall for the battery sensor. we received 2 notices (august 2017/feb 2019) and i was told each time that the car was not part of the recall. i have filed a claim with my insurance company along with opened up a case with honda. i also filed a consumer complaint against honda for a defective car. no one was in the car at the time it caught on fire but the vehicle is a total loss as it destroyed the entire front end of the car. my insurance company along with honda will be sending out their fire inspectors to identify the origin of the fire to determine liability.

Having problems with starting the car at times. it started when on a road trip. we were an hour out from home, had been driving for approximately 2.5 hours. we stopped at a rest area to use the facilities, came back to the car and it wouldn't start, it tried turning over but did not. we received a boost and it started right up. this happens intermittently with no warning. i have been stranded on several occasions. the car was checked out and i was told that the battery, alternator and starter were all fine. i actually drive with a jump starter in the car so that i won't be stranded. it is frustrating to not know what is wrong.

This problem started two years ago and got worse in may. it all started whe we had a rough time starting the vehicle it would take up to 6 time until the car would finally start. we were told it was the battery so we changed the batter up to four time and it still kept having starting issues so then we were told it was the starter so we had it replaced and we are still having issues and now the car stalled on me while stopped in the middle of a busy intersection and it took numerous tries and it finally turned over. our local dealership had the car for 13 weeks and told us they were able to duplicate the starting issues and then told us a few days later they didnt push the button in long enough so it was there mechanics fault and then tell us they find a draw on the battery and a few days later tells us there mechanic used a faulty meter and then they blame it on our internet, smart tvs, garage door opener and wifi. i am so tired of all the excuses and need a car that's not going to leave me stranded and that i can feel safe driving the car out of town right now that's not the case. i do have several friends and family members that have had to come to my rescue to jump start my car or we have had to call a tow truck to get it to the dealership. we have had two ase certified mechanics look at it and were able to duplicate the starting issues and the battery draining and they both told us to take it to our local dealership. we have lots of video and documentation of what the car is doing and also friends that will speak on our behalf. no one will ride with me anymore in fear the car wont start or stall while stopped in a busy intersection. we started having issues two years ago but got alot worse in may of this year.

Starter is malfunctioning. grinds at first and typically starts on second or third attempt.

Push button start does not function properly. the car is unpredictable because it frequently fails to start when i push the engine button. sometimes it starts on the first try, but i am frequently left trying to crank the car for 5 to 10 minutes. one day it would not start at all but started immediately the next morning. this problem has existed for months and the car has approximately 52,000 miles. i read on 'community talk' that other honda owners are experiencing the same issue. on june 27, 2019, i had to pay over $773.84 to replace the starter. the dealership in danville, va. said they keep the starters in stock because they are replacing all of them.

The car has a push button start. sometimes the starter on the car does not work properly. at times, the car fails to start for 5 to 10 minutes and indicates that the starter system is not not working properly. it also indicates that the power is still on. even after the ignition is off, the power is still on. on june 27, 2019, i had to pay $773.84 to replace the starter. this problem has been going on for months. the car only has 51,562 miles. the problem started before 50,000 miles but happened infrequently. over the months, the problem grew worse. now the car may not start in the evening but starts immediately the next morning. getting stranded is a definite risk. the danville honda dealership in virginia said they keep the starters in stock because they are replacing a lot of them. there are also discussions on-line about the problem - community talk. therefore, honda should replace the starters free of charge.

The battery sensor has gaps which could lead to a fire or other dangerous complications. the car often doesn't start. there have been recalls on this make/model/year but not this vin.

Keyless push button start works intermittently to start car - sometimes takes 10 tries to crank; battery is good

Starter failure, starter just clicks. i have the same starter problem as all the other compliants for a 2013 honda accord.

I have 2013 accord exl 40k miles, and had intermittent starting problem from last few wekks, doesn't matter if it's cold or hot, sometimes it just doesn't start. i leave it alone for about a min or two. battery is not the problem and i've already had it tested. took it in for service, they couldn't duplicate. anybody else have this problem? what should i do at this point?

March 2019 drove car to gym without incident. car wouldn't start an hour later. aaa came and the tech's tools indicated battery had sufficient power. tech tried multiple times to start car and got it to run. he advised me to take it to shop to get starter fixed. i drove it home instead and the car worked fine for a month. one morning it didn't start again. i tried to start it again two weeks later and it was fine. the next day it didn't. finally in july 2019 i called for a tow. aaa came, jumped the car and advised me to drive directly to shop. at shop, determined it was just a dead battery. replaced it today. at 120000 miles and in the span of 6 years, this is the third battery.

In early 2019, after my honda dealer replaced my vehicle's water pump, i began experiencing problems with the push button start feature on my 2013 honda accord. sometimes, my car starts right away. but more often, it takes several attempts before my car will start using the push button start feature. when repeated attempts are necessary to start my car, i hear a 'clicking' type noise when i press the start button, but my car does not turn over. after several attempts pushing the 'start' button, my car eventually starts (sometimes after a few seconds and a few attempts, sometimes after many attempts and two or three minutes). the problem occurs randomly, when the car is cold and warm. i never experienced this problem until honda replaced the water pump on my car earlier this year. based on other web posts, this sounds like a common problem with the push button start feature in 2013 honda accords. once my car starts, it runs well. at this present time, i have no other mechanical problems other than the push button start feature. however, my car's failure to start is a safety issue in itself if a car fails to start in a situation where a quick get away is necessary (for example, flood, wild fire, or other natural or other disaster that may require that my car start without delay).

Driver door lock actuator not working

Push button starter doesn't work nearly every day. today july 9 2019 it wouldn't start 3 times. everything freezes (steering, brake) but all lights light up. there are 1,000's of people that this is happening too... so far only when starting.

Having problems starting the car, keep saying check charge system. went to mechanics they said there was a recall for the battery sensor, went to the dealer and change the sensor but still saying check charge system. put the key in everything light but wont start the car. every now and then it works fine but some days it take time for the car to start.

Tl* the contact owns a 2013 honda accord. the contact stated that the starter was malfunctioning. when the contact pressed the start button, the engine would not crank. after a few attempts, the engine finally started. pensacola honda (6675 pensacola blvd, pensacola, fl 32505, (800) 747-3966) stated that the warranty expired 24 days ago and they could not fund the repairs. the manufacturer also stated that the warranty expired. the vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic to have the starter replaced. the failure mileage was 50,000.

Tl* the contact owns a 2013 honda accord. the contact stated that the vehicle failed to start and all the warning indicators illuminated. the contact also stated that the vehicle took ten minutes before it started. the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, but a failure code could not be found. the vehicle was later taken to another independent mechanic to be diagnosed, but a failure code could not be found. the vehicle was not taken to a dealer due to diagnostic and repair fees. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was not notified of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 115,000.

Tl* the contact owned a 2013 honda accord. while driving at an unknown speed, an abnormal noise was heard under the hood of the vehicle. the contact noticed smoke and fire coming from the front of the vehicle. the fire department extinguished the fire. a fire report was filed. the fire department stated that the battery exploded, which caused the failure. there were no injuries. the vehicle was towed to an auto collision lot. the dealer was not contacted. the vehicle was destroyed. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 60,000.

Tl* the contact owns a 2013 honda accord. the vehicle failed to start with no warning lights illuminated. the contact stated that the vehicle was able to restart after an hour but failed to turn off. the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who diagnosed the failure as the starter needing replacement. the vehicle was not repaired. the dealer holler honda (2211 n semoran blvd, orlando, fl 32807 (877)-872-9906) was contacted and a diagnostic appointment was scheduled. the manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. the failure mileage was 77,774.

The ignition switch didn't work well only a few years after i purchase the new car (2013 honda accord). the factory must have a recall!

At 61xxx miles the vehicle began to no longer start reliably. sometimes i would push the start button and it would start normally and sometimes i would just hear a single click but the engine would not turn over. when the engine would not start it would sometimes start if you retried it, but usually it would only restart after multiple pushes of the start button. some days i could not start it after 20 or more attempts. after about a week of this when i finally got it started i drove it to my local mechanic's shop and left it for them to deal with. they diagnosed it as a bad starter, replaced the starter and now it works ok. i had tested the car battery and it had 13.6 volts. i tested the key fob batteries and they had well over their advertised 3v . i read the honda accord forums and found many, many people with the same symptoms. i believe this is the 6th honda i have owned and never replaced a starter on any of them - 3 or 4 of them have gone nearly 200k miles with no starter problem. judging by the number of people who have reported bad starters in the first 75000 miles i would have to say honda, was either trying to save money by using cheap starters or has a bad supplier for their starters. whatever it is, they are putting their customers ind some very inconvenient and potentially dangerous situations.

Bought this car at the end of its 3 year warranty 2 years ago. i immediately had to have the starter and battery replaced (09/16). car began not starting when the push button is engaged, starter was replaced again in (03/18). now in september the car began taking 5 or 6 presses of the start button to start. dealer replaced the battery (09/18). one week later the problem began again and the starter was replaced again (10/18).

Issue with push button start. started experiencing intermittently when pushing button, car won't start. typically hit the button again and car starts. now, however, it is taking a few to several times of pushing the start button for car to start. this can happen after being turned off for a minute to overnight. there is no pattern. i've seen this problem has happened to many owners of the '13 honda accord when i look online. why hasn't honda taken responsibility & issued a recall. this can be a safety issue if you get stuck somewhere & car won't start. (copy/paste- same problem!!)

Intermittent starting problems. car has new battery and alternator is good. please see same complaints online. one time i drove home from work for about 15 miles, turned off car in the driveway, tried to start the car and wont start.

I had about 3 to 4 times that the car doesn't start at first time this year. those times, i had to try four or five times. now i think of it it started to happen after replacing the recalled part, battery sensor on 3/23/2018. on 9/10/2018, i tried so many time to start the car but had to towed to honda dealer to take a look. next day, i was told the starter needed the starter replacement costing $850, and my car only has 35600 miles on it.

Since purchase in 2017. we have had to get roadside assistance multiple times to jump the battery because vehicle wouldn't start. we have spoke to honda that perhaps this vin# vehicle should have been on a recall...but not included on a the 11/8/17 kgo recall. we then turn to local pepboys to do a 1st diagnostic on 10/2/2018 and showed damaged battery and so we purchased a new battery and then 2 weeks later on 11/2/18 had to have two jump starts that week and we returned to pepboys for a 2nd diagnostics that pinpointed something causing battery damage. installed a new 2nd battery which brings us to where we are currently. in conclusion, we are fearful as we drive this vehicle and park and worry that we are going to be left stranded some where when we go to crank vehicle or worse a fire due to some electrical short. we believe that honda should provide a voucher to take vehicle to local honda dealership at their cost to determine the root cause since they should know their vehicle the best.

There three warning indicators that come on my dash and will not go off. the indicators are the power steering sensor, the tire pressure monitoring system and the vsa engaged indicator. i have 4 friends with honda accords ranging from 2013 - 2015 and we have all experienced the same issue. when i talk to a mechanic as well as honda no one knows why these indicators are illuminated. no issues can be found to why these lights will not go off. the vehicle starts in the am and these lights are not on and when i drive about 30 miles these lights come on and stay the remaining time. these lights stay on, highway and street driving as well as sitting stationary.

Tl* the contact owns a 2013 honda accord. while the key was in the ignition, the vehicle stalled without warning. after twenty minutes, the vehicle returned to normal. the vehicle was towed by aaa to balise honda of west warwick (509 quaker ln, west warwick, ri 02893, (401) 822-2000) to be diagnosed, but no failure was found. the failure recurred. the dealer installed a new battery and starter. the manufacturer was notified and did not assist. the failure mileage was 100,000.

When attempting to use the push button to start the car,i am unable to start it. all the dashboard lights come on and i get a clicking sound. after 6-10 times trying to start the car it finally starts. car has 48,000 miles. has happened a few times.

Starter failure described in honda's tsb 16-002. car exhibited a grinding noise upon trying to start. it would fail to start. this was an intermittent problem. honda finally replaced the starter but was unwilling to warranty the known problem. a year later i am having the same problem.

The honda has been intermittently starting for the past month. when you initially try to start there is a click and if you try again often 3-4 attempts it will start. summer months this is very frustrating the vehicle has a battery sensor recall and since the recall this has started to occur.

My car has just gone beyond the 36,000 mile warrantee & is now having difficulty starting. when the start button is pushed, all i get is some warning lights. it will start after 6 - 12 attempts. it does not seem to matter if the engine is cold or warm. three different people have experienced this problem when starting this vehicle. the problem has lasted weeks & is still present. it looks like the repair will cost about $600.

Tl* the contact owns a 2013 honda accord. the contact was unable to start the vehicle. the vehicle was towed to scott robinson honda service center (2280 crenshaw blvd, torrance, ca) where it was diagnosed that the electronic ignition harness was faulty and needed to be replaced. the vehicle was repaired. after retrieving the vehicle, the failure continued. the vehicle was towed back to the service center where it was diagnosed that the starter was faulty. the starter was replaced and the failure was remedied. the manufacturer was notified of the failures. the failure mileage was 45,000.

Car developed problems starting. all lights, radio, etc would turn on but the starter will not start the vehicle. it began slowly and got increasingly worse with time. problem got even worse after the recalled battery sensor was replaced.

Early failure of starter. the starter failed within 5 years of purchase (new car) with very low mileage 46k miles. i could not start my engine on multiple occasions.

2 items- was there an air bag recall? & starter push button malfunction, it doesn't start at times when pushed, it's getting worst, i'm up to over five trys and now it feels like i'd be stuck at any location. it started about two months ago. someone on youtube claimed that there was a recall on the 2013 accord push button starter.

Car not starting. having to jumpstart periodically. replaced battery even though battery registered good. realizing it's in the electric start switch. i built these cars, i'm troubleshooting now. have read several complaints about my exact issue. bought it new, highway miles between oh and fl. 69k. shouldn't be having this issue. always serviced and maintained. i don't feel this should come out of my pocket. first time i experienced it, was out with friends, paid for a taxi to get home, jumpstarted next day to get it home. the several other times, i was in my driveway and was able to jumpstart it here. it's in the electric start. purchased battery 3/9/19, still having difficulty with it turning over. $164. for a new battery. which i knew it wasn't battery, fianc had it replaced worrying about me being stranded. i can see this is going to be a problem for me. i first noticed it july 2018. wouldn't start in oh, i thought i had just left my trunk open too long while packing.

Sometimes the car will not start. brake is depressed and button is pushed to start, green light goes on but car does not start. air conditioner will run. i then push the starter button and everything goes off and try to start the car again. car usually starts after one or two times.

Starter issue that is affected by not engaging due the heat of the engine or other heat source i.e. oil pan or exhaust system. i drove my honda accord 2013 about 60 miles then turned the car off and came back and the engine would not turn over. only sound was one click as you turned the key. triple a was called and they said the issue was not battery related as the battery itself was under a year old and the voltage measurement was 12.81, measured : 535 cca, rated: 500 cca at a temperature of 98. also the test for low cranking amps was 12.48 volts, 13.4 amps. the charging system test showed 12.64 for both loaded and unloaded. the service technician said that it was a starter issue that was affected by the heat of the engine or other heat source i.e. oil pan or exhaust system. after cooling the engine starts without a problem.

Starter issue that is affected by not engaging due the heat of the engine or other heat source i.e. oil pan or exhaust system. driving my honda accord from lake mary to fort meyers beach where i pulled into a rest area near rubonia fl, parked the car and turned the engine off. i came back to the car and proceeded to insert my key and nothing happened. luckily there was a state farm road ranger in the rest stop and he moved his truck to mine and proceeded to give me a jump. once the jumper cables were on, the car turned over without an issue.

I have honda accord 2013 and it's only 60000 miles and start problem like i just change battery and just started problem for ignition switch and it's hard to turn on may be starter problem but it's only 5 year and it's too early to have that problem
