My fuel pump does not work properly it reads empty. also i was driving and my power steering stopped working as i was turning. i was very scared of crashing my car. i had to stop my car and turn it off then turn it back on and my power steering was working again. this has happened 3 times in the last 2 days.

Power steering stops working. 1st time was on the interstate on the wayto work. shut car off and restarted it and it worked the last 2 miles. leaving work it went out again on the highway.

Tl* the contact owns a 2006 chevrolet malibu. while driving 25 mph, the power steering seized and the power assist warning indicator illuminated. the contact called regency chevrolet buick gmc (825 e main st, uvalde, tx 78801) and was provided a repair estimate. the manufacturer was not notified of the failure. the vehicle was not repaired. the failure mileage was 100,000.

My 2006 chevy malibu's power steering is malfunctioning. at times it doesn't work when i start the car. other times it quits working while driving. i noticed where there was a recall for power steering issues from gm. i contacted my dealer and was told after giving my vin that it wasn't covered because of mileage. i took the car to my local repair shop and told by them to contact gm because of the recall. i contacted gm through their customer service number but was told since i wasn't the original owner that it's not covered. the current mileage is 241239.

Power steering started stopped working.

My daughter's 2006 chevy malibue has a steering problem. she heard the indicator bell from the dash and then her steering indicator light came on the dash. this tells us there is a problem in her steering system. she has experienced a slight loss of power steering and found it the be a little harder to steer. . your web site has indicated that there is a recall for the 2006 and 2007 chevy malibue manufacturerd certain months. we called our local dealership to fine if my daughter's car was one of the defective cars with a power steering electrical modules. they stated no. i like to know what the difference between a car manufactured in february and one in april. there built on the same assembly line using the same parts. my complaint is that someone else with the same year and model get there car fixed and she does not. she has a low paying job and cannot really afford the repair bill. gm needs to fix all 2006 chevy malibu s.

Tl* the contact owns a 2006 chevrolet malibu. while operating the vehicle, the 'power steering failure' message displayed and the steering wheel became very difficult to turn in either direction. the vehicle was examined by an independent mechanic who diagnosed that the power steering sensor was faulty and needed to be replaced. the contact notified the manufacturer of the failure, but no assistance was offered. the contact was informed that the vehicle was previously serviced per nhtsa campaign number: 15v064000 (steering) in march of 2015. the contact stated that the vehicle experienced the same failure listed in the recall. the dealer was not contacted. the failure mileage was 119,500.

The electronic steering stops working intermittently. this causes the car to steer very hard and is definitely a safety issue. i've done some research and found that there has been recalls for this exact issue. when i enter my vin number of coarse it isn't included. the past recalls need to be extended as i see there are many others with the same issue and fall in the same category. it should not take a fatality before this happens. gm knows they have a very bad safety issue here and should held accountable for all the vehicles effected, not just a portion. this problem occurs when the vehicle is just started and while traveling down the highway. the car then has to be stopped, shut off and restarted for the issue to clear.

Was driving on city street approaching an intersection when the vehicle loss power, steering, and abs brakes

Takata recall i was driving my car and all of a sudden steering wheel jumped up and then lost the power steering and could barely turn wheel and i heard a ding and it tried to die and a burst of steam comes on windshield. it will smell like it's really hot and it gets a little hot but not bad

Sudden failure of power steering while driving. gm dealership ran diagnostic test. diagnosis is steering assist motor is shorting internally and shutting down the assist. occasionally, the computer will successfully reset and power steering will be restored for a short while until it happens again. tech cause from diagnostic test: scan check, codes c0550 (ecu perf internal electrical failure), c0475 (electric steering motor circ.) both codes are history. current codes would be internal ps module malfunction. completed by technician number: 0013. test done at m.j. goss motor co., 1415 adams ave., la grande, or 97850, phone: 541-663-4131

Ok steering in this car was good seen that it had a recall before for that. also when i called chevy they told me .but that's my most concern as seeing as much i have put into this car. it's weird i looked on your site before and had recalls now it don't. i just want to see how to get it fixed with braking my pockets.

Steering wheel occasionally will lock up briefly while driving.

Speedometer stops working while driving, security light comes on, engine ignition stops working and car doesn't turn over or start. this happens when in motion and not in motion.

Tl* the contact owns a 2006 chevrolet malibu. while driving 20 mph, the steering wheel seized three times and the power steering warning indicator illuminated. the contact mentioned that the vehicle was repaired per an unknown nhtsa campaign number regarding the steering wheel. dyer chevrolet vero beach (1000 us-1, vero beach, fl 32960, (772) 617-4793) was contacted and informed the contact to bring the vehicle to the dealer for diagnostic testing. the vehicle was not taken to a dealer or independent mechanic for diagnostic testing or repairs. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure and informed the contact that the vehicle was already repaired per a recall for the same failure. the manufacturer advised the contact to take the vehicle to a dealer. the failure mileage was 101,420. *dt

The car jerks violently when accelerating and looses power steering, all dash lights come on the bells ding then when you let off the has it stopped, very dangerous.

Sudden loss of steering while turning at a low speed.

Tl* the contact owns a 2006 chevrolet malibu. while driving low speeds, the steering failed and the power steering warning indicator illuminated. the vehicle was repaired per nhtsa campaign number: 15v064000 (steering), but the failure recurred. the vehicle was diagnosed by an independent mechanic who stated that the power steering assist needed to be repaired. a repair appointment was scheduled with the mechanic. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure. the dealer was not contacted. the failure mileage was 137,000.

There was difficulty with the power steering under all driving conditions. the power steering indicator light appeared within the driver information center. the current mileage at the time of service was 144,961 miles. on page 1 of the attached document, dealer diagnostics identified the steering torque sensor has an internal failure. on page 2, the vehicle was previously repaired under recall at 115,069 miles, and would not be replaced under recall at this time. the previous recall replacement part is obviously defective when, with less than 30,000 miles since recall replacement, the part failed again. the owner should be reimbursed by chevrolet for substandard recall replacement with inadequate parts. recall = n140116.

Takatat recall .. i was driving my car on the highway and my steering wheel locked when i was driveing i had my family in the car with me we all could have die lord me and my family is homeless we need this car to get around pleace helpn us with this i was driveing from east st louis il to work at the hollwood casino in st louis mo we sleep in our car thats why my family was there with me when i was driving when it went out and the steering wheel all so shakes very bad

At times electronic steering stops working and radio displays power steering. happens when driving. gm says vehicle is not involved in a recall.

The last recall you took my vehicle in took the steering wheel positioning torque sensor out that was good because you thought it might go bad and cause a safety issue you replace it with one that went bad i almost got in an accident because of your repair. i called my gm dealer and they're refusing to stand behind . if it was a big enough safety issue to cause a recall. i think you need to recall it again. if the sensor you put in went bad you didn't correct the problem you only put another bad sensor in so you still have the same safety risk. this should be addressed before there's an accident and somebody dies because of your poor recall. i was driving 55 mile an hour on a corner my radio beat and said power steering the wheel jerked and it was really hard to steer.

The power steering goes in and out while driving. have to stop the vehicle, shut the car down and restart it. keeps happening over and over again

Electronic steering goes in and out. when in gear and foot on brake the steering wheel vibrates right to left. my vehicle was not part of recall.

Power steering warning appears and then power steering goes out. local garage diagnosed as steering torque sensor. the steering usually works when you first start the car, but completely fails after a few minutes. contacted local gm dealer and was told it was already fixed under the previous recall and there was nothing they could do. apparently the parts are failing again.

yesterday, when trying to park, i heard a chime and the message "power steering" popped up on the info screen. the car became incredibly hard to steer, so i'm thinking the power steering had shut off. i turned my car off, then back on, and the power steering came back on, so i was able to park the car correctly. when we were about to head home, as soon as i turn on a busy street, just before getting on the highway, the chime goes off, the message pops up, and my power steering shuts off again. i turned (with all my might) into an empty parking lot and turned the car off for a little bit. my family and i were looking under the hood, but we weren't sure what to check for. we eventually got back in the car and went home. thankfully, the power steering stayed on and we got home safely (17 miles on the highway). i'm just worried that it will eventually turn off on its own again. if i have to schedule a service appointment, i would like to go in prepared this time. a few months ago, when i had a brake light issue, one particular service department tried charging me $500+ for a part. the steering wheel shimmied on it's own only above 50 mph, i tried it out and i'll tell you, it's a two handed fight to keep the car under control.

Cannot turn the steering wheel in any direction. almost as if its locked in place. at first it just seemed like the power steering was going out, but the next morning when i went to leave for work it was gone all together

Upon turning on my vehicle, i was unable to steer the steering wheel. it has happened several times. when the vehicle is stationary, the steering wheel shakes and the only way to stop it is to firmly hold it. temporary fix has been to restart the vehicle.

My 2006 chevy malibu has had electric power steering malfunction. i was driving on a very dangerous city highway. with my three children in car. i looked up and saw there are recalls on the year and make of my car but the dealership says they don't see a recall under my specific vehichle. i don't think it makes since and i don't know anyone to fix it. because most cars have a normal power steering pump.

Purchased the vehicle used in may of 2015. while driving the power steering assist fails and there is a ecm. turn the car off and it resets. now completely power steering failing completely. saw there was a recall in 2015 but never received a bulletin. told by gm that they will not cover the recall because the car is out of warranty???

My steering wheel shakes extremely bad ilit also locks up to the point the wheel won't turn.

Electric power steering went out intermittently feb. 2017. gm recall performed (replaced steering column and other components). oct 2018 electric power steering went out intermittently again.december 2018 electric power steering went out completely. dealer who performed original recall for this issue determined car needed another new steering column. car towed to independent mechanic who also determined car needed another new steering column. in spite of known issue with electric power steering and steering columns in this vehicle, gm refuses to pay any of the approximately $850.00 repair bill.

Tl* the contact owns a 2006 chevrolet malibu. the contact stated that the steering ability seized completely. also, the check engine and power steering warning indicators illuminated. the contact stated that the vehicle was repaired three years ago by reliable chevrolet (3655 s campbell ave, springfield, mo 65807) per nhtsa campaign number: 15v064000 (steering), but the failure recurred. the vehicle was not repaired again. the manufacturer was not notified of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 138,000.

The electric power steering failed. turned the car off then on again and power steering worked again

My power steering went out while i was on the freeway and i almost wrecked. so i had no power steering, and still don't. it will come back for a minute and then go out again. i checked online and saw that gm had recalled my model year malibus, and others, for a problem with the power steering. so i called gm and they said that my car was not a subject of the recall. if the problem is the same problem, i do not understand why they refuse to fix it. so i am filing this complaint because to me it is obvious that this should be fixed by gm, regardless of what they said, which i guess is just a coincidence that my car has the same problem! i: hope you can help.

Power steering goes on and off randomly while driving at high and low speeds. also, steering wheel shakes rapidly while in park.

2006 chevrolet malibu: power steering locks up! locks up to the point it take two people to turn the wheel, this happens while driving! headlights and brake lights go out and when bulb is replaced they burn instantly. t/c never turns off! recent complaints from people in other states have been made there are also evident recalls but chevrolet fails to honor the recall and refuse to fix because the cars are 2006 and the uear now is 2018. this is not fair! what are we supposed to do? this is a saftey issue! it is morally unethical and illegal for chevrolet not to acknowledge and honor this recall regardless if the car we have is used. if the recall was made and was not fixed they must acknowledge that the repair was not made and fix the problem for the car owner! i am sure chevrolet has a database and is aware at what and how many vehicles have been repaired due to this recall. what are they waiting for a lawsuit? i demand that this recall be honored and this problem fixed asap. if i or my family are harmed due to this i will sue so help me god! i am sure there are many people out there who agree that what chevrolet is doing is wrong! the issue happened several time this year and happened again today!

My 06 malibu has intermit power steering loss. i have almost had two accidents when the power steering lost occurred. i have researched that gm has recalled certain vehicles for this condition, but mine has yet to receive this recall. when will gm fix the issue with all vehicles effected by this condition. loss of steering while driving is not conducive to a safe condition.

The power steering randomly goes out when driving and won't work again until i cut the car off . the dealership want to charge me $130 to look at it and was supposedly fix during the recall in 2015. this isn't fair chevy is scamming us and potentialy causing injuries.
