I do not recall exact accident date as i received nothing from insurance. car was placed in park and turned off. car had been parked and sitting for 30 minutes. car came out of park and rolled into another parked car causing damage to that vehicle and to my vehicle.i do not think it went into park to start with. my insurance covered repair of the other vehicle and i repaired my own vehicle. my insurance told me that they would contact chevrolet concerning accident. later i noticed my insurance had listed this as a moving violation and raised my insurance. i have contacted my insurance concerning this as this was not a moving violation. i was not driving nor was i in the car and this seemed to involved a recall. i will report my insurance to the state insurance commission to look into this matter has i should not be punished for this problem. i had an excellent driving records for the past 30 years. i had taken car to dealer concerning recalls but was told parts not available. i took car on one occasion and part was ordered for recall. i took car back and was told my part given to some one else. i finally received final repair on 04/08/2015. i made several trips to have car looked at and parts to be ordered then had to take it back for repairs. i also had lose of steering at times for brief periods. i became fearful of driving this car after so many problems and was nervous and anxious when in the car. too many recalls on this vehicle after i had it for a long time. some one could have been hurt. why so longer to notify me of so many recalls and why so long for repairs. if recall is done, parts should be available at dealer. i should not have to take it to be looked at, then wait for a part, then have to take it back it. i will consider legal action. *tr

We have three recalls involving the power steering and shift cable. both appear to leave the car unsafe. when we began to have our power steering light come on and noticed some shaking of the steering column when stopping the car, we were told the part is not available. what are we to do with this unsafe situation with no parts or remedies at this time? *tr

I was on my way to pick my daughter up from school as i turned into the school the steering lost power and two dings followed and the display said power steering so i came to a complete stop put it in park and turned it off i called my husband and told him what happened and he said to try to start it and see what it does so i did and the steering was fine all the way back home so he decided to drive it and it done the same thing to him so we decided to do a little research on the power steering and all we could find is a safety recall that we had no idea about we haven't been notified so we call serra chevrolet dealer and gave them the vin and she says yes my car has a safety recall and that they don't have replacement parts and don't know when they will they can't do anything so i call the manufacture gm and told him everything about the car and what the dealer told me he said they should have told you to bring the car to the dealer so they could look at it and if they can't fix it offer you a loaner car because the car is not safe for my children or other drivers on the rode so he contacted the dealer and told me they would contact me and they called me back and told me that who ever i spoke to at gm lied that they will not offer me a loaner car that i could bring my car in that they had no doubt they could fix it but i would have to pay out of pocket and maybe gm would reimburse me i have only had the car for 3 months and i don't understand how no one wants to do anything about this i have 3 children i have to get to and from school and had i known about this safety issue i wouldn't have bought the car and i can't afford to pay out of pocket and i shouldn't have to and so i am paying for dangerous car that can't drive. *tr

There was no accident. this is a complaint about my 2006 chevrolet malibu. i received three recall notices, nos. 14152, 13036 and14116 from the chevrolet co. all three describe very dangerous conditions that may occur while driving my car. they are notifying me that they do not have parts to repair my car but will notify me when they are sent to my dealer. this is outrageous. while driving my car on a limited access highway i may experience a transmission shift cable fracture, a power steering assist failure or an increased resistance in the body control module connection system. does this mean i should not drive my car until the company can make the repairs? all sound like serious failures. are you aware the chevrolet company is sending these out to cover themselves if a failure occurs? After finding out that there are recalls for my car per dot.gov, i scheduled an appointment for repairs with vandergriff chevrolet in arlington for 7-21-14. i requested that they repair the parts under recall and issue a refund for the amount i paid previously for repair to power steering on my vehicle. i was told that someone would be in touch with me. when i did not get contacted, i returned to the service department to speak with a technician in regard to my service request. once again, as previously, i was told that there are no recalls on my car. when i directed the technician to the information released by the dept. of transportation, he stated that gm sent out additional recall letters to recall the original recall notices because they were issued in error, and that there are none in effect for my vehicle. no repairs were done. *js

While driving on the hwy my power steering light came on and caused my steering wheel to lock up. this has happened on several occasions. i thank god i didn't have an accident. i had to try in pull to the side of the hwy and cut my car off to reset the power steering light. *tr

Decelerating from highway to off ramp. chime sounded and display column showed power steering. steering required force and as the vehicle stopped the steering wheel began to subtle shift left and right with audible sound when reaching left and right. continued to safe area off the highway, however had to use quite a bit of force to steer the vehicle. *tr

I bought this 2006 malibu ls in december and started experiencing the power steering arbitrarily going out as we were driving down the road. it has occurred 5 times now. there is a recall for this model make and year car for this exact problem but the vin is not in the database so the dealer will not work on it. i called the chevrolet 1800 number and they confirmed it was a recall and it was based on part numbers and the dealer could look and see if the parts were covered but the dealer want touch it until the vin is listed. the last incident was on the interstate and my daughter lost power steering and while trying to get the car to the side of the interstate was barely missed by an 18 wheeler which caused another car to get run off into the median when he swerved to miss my daughter. *tr

I was traveling on a smooth, straight road with a gentle turn. the warning bell chimed and a message was displayed that noted power steering. i also heard clicking sounds coming from under the dash. at the same time the power steering failed and the car seemed to pull to the left and the car was impossible to steer. the car was pulled into oncoming traffic, but after a few seconds the power steering returned to the car and i was able to gain control. this happened again on the return trip home when i was pulling out from a dead stop. i contacted the dealer and according to them, my car is not included in the most current round of recalls from gm regarding power steering. i was informed that a replacement steering column would cost around 1,000. *tr

Torque centre assembly is being recalled. gm has said not to use the car. it is used for driver education and private driving lessons. the part in question won't be available for 4-6 weeks maybe. what do we do with our car in the meantime? we're paying to keep the car on the road and a new replacement would have to be equipped with a duel braking system, which the dealer is not willing to do. *tr

I was driving my car making a left turn when the power steering went out. i was able to make the turn (luckily no other cars were approaching). the vehicle was very difficult to turn. the power steering light came on the display and a chiming sound. *tr

Car shuts off while driving an steering is hard. *tr

4/23/2014: while traveling at 65 mph, the steering wheel started shaking on its own and a message appeared on the vehicles center display that read "power steering" . the local chevrolet dealer said that there was a recall (#14116) but that the parts were not available. i took the car off the road because it was unsafe to drive. 11/04/14: i took the vehicle to burdick chevrolet for service after receiving a letter from gm stating that parts were available. 11/05/14: when the repair was completed, the service writer brought the car over to where i was standing. when i started to pull away, the steering wheel started shaking and the steering felt very notchy. i showed this to the service writer and he went to get the service manager and a technician. the service writer returned and said that the service manager said that this was not part of the recall and that i would have to bring the car in for diagnostics and i would have to pay for any service. i don't feel as though i should have to pay for anything regarding this recall. as the drove home, the steering wheel shook constantly and i was not able to drive in a straight line and had to constantly correct by steering left and right. i called the dealership and asked to speak with the service manager but he was apparently too busy. i have dealt with the service manager in the past and i don't expect him to ever return my calls. i have no idea what they actually did to repair the steering. i only know that it's much worse that when i took the car in. i now have a car that cannot be driven, let alone sold. what should i do at this point? *tr

While merging on to a highway, my steering locked up and my son, who was driving, suddenly couldn't steer. fortunately, it only lasted for a few seconds, and it came back. had it not come back, we would have had a collision with a semi-truck that was right next to us. this is never happened prior to this and not since. my local chevy dealer assures me that there are no recalls on this model, however, he also couldn't tell me why something like this would happen or offer a suggestion. please advise. *tr

The car started to shake violently and sounded like front tires were falling off or very wobbly. had to pull off freeway turned car off then restarted and problem stopped. this has occurred 5 times now and last time vibration was so bad it broke off both front hubcaps. the service tech at local dealer said it was not due to recall on power steering recall ye we talked to certified chevy mechanic at a different dealer and he said it was definately the issue. called gm customer service waiting for dealership manager to call back.
