Problems with 2012 Chevrolet Cruze ELECTRICAL SYSTEM

I have a 2012 chevy cruze 1.4 turbo engine the issue is over heating .. this issue is reoccurring.. i was driving for approximately 10 to 20 minutes when the indicator on the dash reads that the car is to hot yo drive and will shut down left me stranded on the road side. i take it to chevy dealer to learn there has been a thermostat problem i get the issue repaird it runs ok for a while then again same problem (over heated) one again. take again to chevy dealer they tell me it's the water pump. i have the water pump repaired. all is ok for a short while. again the same issue i call chevy dealer again to bring my car back for the 4th time. they schedule my appt. to look at my car one again and on my way to the dealer car over heats turns its self off and will not start back after cooling down. finally i get the car to the deal to learn that it blew the head gasket and now because it' over headed so many times i now need an engine!!! there has been extend warranty on all of the cooling parts of the engine and this issue should also be covered however the dealer will not fix the caused problem from the faulty parts !!!!!!

Sometimes when i slow to a stop or just driving car shuts off without warning. no lights or anything come on in the dash showing it's off. starts right back up but very dangerous could cause an accident.

Car will not start. put key in the ignition and it will not turn over. had mechanic come and check out and he said the ignition switch is not getting the power it supposed to one core reads 12 volts the other 6 and they both suppose to read 12 volts to turn it over.

Radio and dash keep going off and then back on while driving. stability check keeps flashing i have had this looked at and there is nothing wrong

While driving my 2012 chevy cruze, my radio will shut off randomly for about 10 seconds, and when it does, i lose complete control of the steering. it is like the car shuts off but when the radio turns back on, then the car will restore power. very dangerous and scary!!! and yet, there is still no recall for my specific vin. also, for two mornings in a row, i have noticed a smell and some smoke coming from the engine. it will only do it for about 5 minutes and the car will not overheat. i swear it is one thing after another with this car.

A week or so ago while driving home from work on the interstate the instrument cluster went dark and the display in the center of it completely shut off. i finished the remaining 30 mins. of my drive without it returning to normal(lights off display remained off). i didn't have any more issues until today. this afternoon i drove to a family get together and while still in the city my instrument cluster plus my radio display started to randomly shut off then come back on after a second or two sometimes continuously for 10-20 seconds and once for around 30 seconds. each time they went off the speakers would shut off too and i'm not sure if the turn signals worked due to the lack of a display and audio. one instance i also encountered either reduced power steering or complete loss of it for several seconds while losing power to the displays and regaining it approximately 15 times over about a 30 second timeframe. after that i got a stabilitrak message but steering was normal for the rest of the drive. however the cluster, radio display, speakers, etc. continued to randomly turn off for a second or two then come back on. when we left the gathering within a minute of starting the car(hadn't even made it out of the driveway) everything started shutting down then coming back on just like earlier but steering wasn't effected again and no stabilitrak message on the way home either. today the drive started in a city then was open highway for about 20 mins. and the gathering was at a house on the outskirts of a town. the loss of power to the things i mentioned above seemed to be completely random and were not effected by speed, stop and go traffic, or open highway. the one time steering was effected i was taking off at a stop light but it's hard to say if that was a factor since none of the other stops were.

My vehicle will say the drivers door is open when it is not, it will shut off and on. the alarm system goes off when ever it feels like it even driving down the road. there is nothing to do when it does this you just have to let it go off until it stops. the speed gauge changes from what the non digital one says. and the engine light shuts off and on when you hit a bump.

Ac auto shutoff temp to high message comes on l. i have replaced the thermostat already three times. then the car won't start. disconnect the ground and put it back on and it starts just fine. you can drive it for a while then ac off comes back in and start the process again.

My vehicle was stationary and no running. i entered the vehicle and started it. the service traction control light flashed then the service stabilitrak light flashed the lights went away and the vehicle drove fine. several days later the same thing happened upon entering my driveway it started to sputter. four days after that upon starting the vehicle the same lights came on in addition to the check engine light. now when i start my vehicle the check engine light stays on and after the vehicle is warmed up the other two lights come on and then go off. my latest onstar diagnostic reports a problem with the ecm. i has been almost exactly three years to the date that these same things happened and were supposedly repaired under recall # 14801 and special coverage # 14311b. please advise.

While driving in the city at night, the vehicle completely shut off, including the engine and all electrical systems without any warnings. this caused all lights to turn off, loss of power steering, power to brakes, and little to control to the vehicle. luckily, the vehicle behind me noticed and tailed me to a stop with their warning lights. i then proceeded to open the engine with a flashlight to discover that the battery was still properly connected (6 months old) with no frays or corrosion to the connectors or wiring. after about 5 minutes attempting to find a tow truck company the vehicle electrical system came back on with no intervention. i turned the ignition switch and the vehicle started with no issues and no engine lights on. i drove it the rest of the way home with no issues. when i got home i checked all the fuses and all were operable. the obd scanner found no codes. i am mid 30s 190ibs and fairly strong, i could only imagine if this happened in an intersection or during busy hours on the highway, i wouldn't be sitting here reporting this issue. i found numerous similar complaints on blogs concerning this model. i assume not many have reported properly since there is no recall issued for the electrical system.

Engine cooling system exploded while car in motion coolant was everywhere underneath the hood. belt broken.and has oil leaking.with an 800 hundred dollars bill while on vacation.

Infotainment system not working. the stereo system does not work properly. it will turn on or off on without input from a human. not having a stereo is not a problem, but the turn signals and hazard light clicking are not present when the radio is not operating. not having audio of the turn signals requires the driver to take their eyes off the road to observe whether either turn signal are operating. this driver has ridden around with a turn signal for some lengths of time, possibly confusing other drivers. the radio and vehicle dings and clicks should be independent for safety alerts.

Dangerous to drive this car 2012 chevy cruz. my cc 12 decided to jerk, shake, all panels starting flashing, shake, make noise and increase speed and then suddenly brakes kick in and it stopped in the middle lane of i95. becus powertran is over by 1 year, chevrolet wont do anything about it. they said to take to official chevy dealership. which now incurred a cost of 370 with discount. their rep told me a each time i call tha the powertrain is over however considering the trouble with the vehicle, you are on the perimeters of this. we get the diagnostics and work with you possible picking up some if not all of the cost. no such thing, instead their senior advisor advised me i am [xxx] out of luck on a 6 yrs old car with approx. 79 thousand miles. that's their response. out of car now 11 days, handed a bill for 370.00 to tell me the same thing my mechanic told me. information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6). *tr

Without any previous problems before this day.. my transmission went out with only 80,000 miles on june 7, 2018. being on a busy 2 lane, curvy highway, my car just completely went out of gear and thankfully i was able cruise off to the side. a few minutes later an alert than came up on my dash and said "transmission hot, idle engine". i had bought this car in 2014 with only one previous owner that took really good care of it. it is ridiculous for my transmission to go out with such low mileage and to have to pay $5,000 for a new one and plus the car payments i still have on it. unfortunately, i am not the only person to have this issue. there are many others. just because they look nice doesn't mean it will last long.

It has been a known issue all over the internet that the 2012 cruise has had a problem with its electrical system. along with myself many others have noted that while driving the cars electrical system goes out disabling the power steering, radio, gas, anything tied in with the electrical system. this has caused many accidents and has nearly caused my significant other and myself on 3 separate occasions to nearly run into a pole or ditch. this is a safety hazard not only to the driver of the vehicle but to other vehicles or pedestrians.

My car is very dangerous! shuts off while on freeway! jerks forward while on brakes, caused an accident! cruise control does not work! electrical things flashing all the time! jerks and locks up all 4 wheels while driving! just today is shut down on the highway i struggled to get it home while the rpm's were up above 6! you name it, it has it. think there should be a class action lawsuit against the makers of this vehicle!! class action lawsuit!!!!!

Vehicle engine light is on. vehicle is spilling oil causing smoke to be exhausted out of engine while driving vehicle. engine has had coolant leaks and engine head gasket is blown

This vehicle (chevy cruze 2012) is the worst vehicle made possible. there is oil leaks that have been fixed that occur again . there is a coolant leak that was fixed by the radiator connector. 15 minutes later of driving the vehicle 2 more hoses popped and caused the coolant to leak again. the radiator went bad and was changed the vehicle still over heated . the thermostat was changed and the vehicle was fine for 2 days. i go to start the vehicle and it doesn't want to turn over . come to find out at the same mechanic that i had the thermostat changed apparently said the head gasket was blown . then says there's something wrong with the cylinder heads . so all in all . this vehicle has had oil leaks , coolant leaks , engine lights , radiator issues , cylinderr head problems , misfiring and now a head gasket problem . this brings a safety issue to me that while i am driving my car is misfiring on me in the middle of the road while there is traffic going on and tons of people on the road . i could potentially be driving this vehicle and because of all of this electrical issues that gm is not capable of manufacturing correctly on these vehicles (chevy cruze) my car could of blew up while driving it. i have my nieces and nephews in the car while the car shakes out of nowhere which could of put there life in danger . chevy is no help what so ever they only want to charge to even look at a car they manufactured!!!! i ask for help from them and they seem so carefree . my life is in danger and no one cares!! someone will die by gm hands if this issue cannot be correctly fixed on these vehicles . you guys are selling cars that can kill someone and once you guys are notified of this no one cares . once there is a lawsuit under your company then maybe you guys will take this serious .

While driving the radio and other interior lights started flashing on and off. now along with that the check engine light is on, the service stabiltrac is on and it will loose steering assist at times. today it started dying when taking off and at intersections.i have spoken to a few diffrent techs and a couple diffrent shops on this matter and nobody has any answers as to what it is they all have said that they have several doing the same thing and can not figure them out.

Belt tensioner bolt came out and is now stuck in a spring in the engine..the light on my radio fades in and out.. rotor on drivers side had deformity to it .still have the rotor and the spring is still stuck in engine i can't afford to get it fixed

The car says in the instrument cluster "engine looses power" and to "service stabilitrac." then i loose acceleration. i have to coast to the shoulder shut the car down and restart. it happens more often on the freeway which is super scary. this happens every time drive.

Hello, my 2012 chevy cruze ltz's key fob isn't being detected by my vehicle. i've looked it up and asked around and either nobody's heard of the issue or don't know what to do other than take it to a mechanic. this doesn't happen all the time, but it's painstaking when i can't even use the key fob one minute and then the next it works fine. the vehicle has been stationary since this problem has occured.

While driving, on at least four occasions, i have lost power completely, causing all electrical functionings to stop, making me lose ability to accelerate, causing my lights to shut off, and all other functionalities of the car, besides steering and using inertia, resulting in pulling over without endangering myself or other drivers. there also seems to be a skipping or jumping involving the fuel injection when accelerating, which makes speed regulation irregular, sporadic, and does not allow the driver to make accurate judgements on the cars capabilities concerning timing and distance to other drivers. recently, i was in motion driving through chatanooga, tn, where it is mountainous and has steep hills, during nighttime, so visibility was lessened, and danger, due to the type of road it was, was increased. while going downhill, luckily, with other cars around me traveling at 70 mph, my car just shut off, completely. i lost the ability to accelerate, my lights shut off, almost causing an accident with the cars around me. luckily, i pulled onto the shoulder without any damages. this happened again, about two months ago, at a stop light. i began to accelerate, and in the middle of the intersection, my car shut off, i had to coast off of the road, lost all acceleration, and again almost was involved in an accident.

While breaking, using the blinker, turning, or just driving the car will loose power, slow the car down, the radio looses power, and my service stablitky track, service power steering, along with traction control, anti-breaking lights, and a few other light will all come back on. it will do this randomly while driving, it seems to do it more frequently when coming to a stop or accelerating. i had this serviced back in february of 2017 and the dealership told me i had acid from my battery leaking into the positive cable, so i had all the battery and battery wires replaced. this took care of the problem until a few weeks ago. this is happening more and more often and the problem is becoming worse. this is a persistent problem with the chevy cruzes from the research i have done and chevy seems to be doing nothing about it.

While driving down the road down the road, radio turns on and off , ac stopped blowing, lights flashing on and off, stability track flashing, this is a problem, fix it, too many people are having the same issue! unacceptable!

Car slow to crank, check power steering comes on or check anti theft system occasionally. sometimes the wipers, emergency lights or trunk pops open. no on can give me an answer as to what the heck is going on with my 2012 cruz. this happens while the car is stationary.

When i try and start my car sometime it stalls like it doesn't want to crank up and when i finally do get it crank the emergency lights flash, power steering comes on the screen and then windshield wipers come on. i had this problem previous a couple months again to where when i crank it the trunk came open and the stabilitak and jerk and other things would pop up. they put it on the machine and it said it was misfires so i went and got it fixed now it's happening again.

Car wont turn off even with key off lights stay on too other times car just turns off while still on drive but gm calms no recalls !

While driving my 012 chevy cruze, a message came up stating 'service stabilitrak' and the radio shuts off and turns back on randomly. also, when at a complete stop, the ac will stop blowing and then pick back up.

Car when in park with parking break and idiling in neutral. the steering wheel will jerk, the speedometer will spike at max speed and doors will lock and all dash lights flash on. while driving down the road between 25 to 45 mph the radio will turn itself off and then back on for no reason. also while turning at slow speed, car will reset itself. as in it will lose all power to the power steering, ac, radio, everything and you will have to restart the car. not safe at all when driving in traffic.

Vehicle would not start could not open car but the dash light were on & once inside the window would go up & and down. have changed battery but still not working.

As i was driving my radio started going on and off then car completely shut off steering while went stiff to the left and locked as i was on the road scared the living spirit out of me was the scariest experiences luckly i was alone without my kids because that could of been a fatal accident. in was very lucky it was not a busy morning the first time it happen and i was able to keep to left until car came to a stop at the curve. this has happen to me more than once that i stopped driving car stopped paying it because it was a lemon so many things went wrong 3mnths after buying car at used dealers i felt cheated and stuck i even lost my job because i wasnt able to get to work on time or at all at times because of car problems

Takes na long time to take off. the car jerks a lot and the steering wheel gets stuck..

Tl* the contact owns a 2012 chevrolet cruze. while driving various speeds and attempting to stop the vehicle, the contact had to apply extra force to the brake pedal. also, the check engine warning indicator illuminated. the contact took the vehicle to auto zone who found failure codes for the ecm and brakes. the dealer was contacted at 319-393-3300 and stated that the vehicle was not included in a recall. the dealer informed the contact that the vehicle needed to be brought in to be diagnosed. the dealer also stated that even though the vehicle experienced the failures in a recall ,it did not mean her vehicle was included in the recall. the vehicle was not included in nhtsa campaign number: 13v360000 (service brakes, hydraulic). the vehicle was not diagnosed due to the diagnostic fee. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure and confirmed that there was no recall under the vin, and that a manager would contact her back. no further assistance was provided. the failure mileage was approximately 80,600.

There are intermittent electrical issues in this vehicle, the radio shuts on and off while driving and the turn signals have no sound along with no sound from the reverse sensors. dealership is not able to identify the problem.

Radio and communication module is turning on and off. stabilitytrak control light comes on and abs brakes lights comes on.

Like all the other chevrolet cruzes with radio electrical problems. my 2012 ltz cruze with 50,000 miles on it is also having the same issues. on february 10, 2017 my radio started freaking out. it would go off and on several time with the radio sometimes work and other times not. this would happen up to 4 times with in a 1/2 hour of driving. my daytime running light in the dash will go on and off. the blinker would go on and off. and after reading all the other people postings i soon will be having more issues with the electrical/radio/dash issues and the car shutting down and possible steering problems..... that's just great! why hasn't gm done anything about this? why is it that people have to have a reck and possibly die before gm fixes this.....we pay a lot a money for this cars and they should last a lot longer with out issues.

Takata recall i hear a dripping sound under the hood, followed by a sound like the dripping is hitting something hot. electronics such as the radio, signals, and the entire computer screen is out. the car is at the autonation service center on security blvd. in baltimore and they are looking to profit from these defects. it's sad...

Radio is turning on and off. stabilitytrak control light comes on power steering give out and brakes

I just bought my chevy cruze on dec 18th 2016 and on dec 24th 2016 my car wouldn't start while in park, no warning lights, no peeping, no nothing just would not start, i waited a few minutes then it started. i drove about 10 or more miles to my dads was there about 5 minutes got in my car to leave, same thing, wouldn't start, again no peeping, no warning lights nothing,waited about 3 to 5 minutes and it started. i immediately took it to the dealer, they told meto bring it in the following sat which was dec. 31, 2016, the car started the rest of that week no problem. took the car in on dec. 31, 2016, they still have my car and it is january 7th, 2017, they can't find what is wrong. i have since done research on this car and found out it is the most unreliable car out there. i drive an 82 year old lady to her appointments and i can't risk being in an accident because of car problems. i got rid of a 1994 ford escort because of it breaking down all the time, now it sounds like i just traded that in for the same [xxx] thing just a different make and model. i am not dealing with it, i'm taking the car back one way or the other. very disappointed in dealership selling me this car, specifically told them i needed a safe reliable car and they sell me the worst rating car on the [xxx] lot. never ever will i buy a chevy or a ford again. we will see how the dealer makes this right if i go back to them or give them a good review. it has been 7 days now and they still have my car and everyday i'm told the same thing, don't know what the problem is, don't know when we will give you your car back. much longer dealing with this and they can talk to my attorney. i don't want the car back, trade it in or give me my money back. this is bull. parts of this document have been redacted to protect personally identifiable information pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).

When i start my car, the four way flashers turn on, my trunk opens, wipers go off, interior lights flicker, and serve power steering appears. i brought it into the dealer, they replaced the negative battery cable for a second time, and ran an electrical diagnosis. i was told it was the battery cable, the issues are still occurring.

While driving, radio display and speakers turn on and off. started june 2016 and has progressively gotten worse. seems to happen when turning the vehicle and or pressing the brakes. stabilitrack/traction control error message appears on dash. all abs related icons flash. sometimes it happens once. sometimes it's repetitive until i turn the car off and then turn it back on. doesn't matter how fast i'm going and the longer the trip, the more frequent it is. based on what i've learned about this, it should be covered by special coverage 14311b but my dealership gives me the run around and asks silly questions about if my battery is in good condition and if i think i need a new alternator. if it was the battery, the radio/speakers wouldn't be the only item(s) that turned off. from what i'm learning, this problem gets worse and power steering or full vehicle function is diminished or goes off completely. not sure what more needs to happen to chevy customers for chevy to make this a recall.

This is the second complaint that our government refuses to investigate for the government motors chevrolet cruz vehicle. while driving, the radio will start to power cycle and the dash board instrument panel will also start flashing on and off. the vehicle will also shut completely off while driving. this will continue until you remove battery terminals and then reattach. this is happening to many chevy cruz's and the nhtsa refuses to do anything about it. i would upload videos but this antiquated government site doesn't want to see real facts

Trunk electric open button does not work, must use the remote trunk button to open trunk. i hope that no small child should climb in trunk and close the trunk lid. when car is stationary. and remote is not close by.
