Problems with 2012 Chevrolet Cruze ELECTRICAL SYSTEM

When putting the 2012 cruze in reverse the brakes would fail temporarily forcing me to push the car into park. a week later the radio start to turn on and off. at this point in time aug 7 2014 only the brakes have been fixed. *tr

2012 chevy cruze, 30,000 miles, bought from gm certified dealer 3 weeks ago. while driving, dashboard flickers on and off. stabilitrak, radio, airbags, etc all flicker while driving or completely shut down. 4x last week vehicle lost all power and would not restart until nudged the battery. 15 july 2014, took to dealership, battery replaced and cables cleaned of corrosion. vehicle starts now, but flickering continued today. assume problem will persist and worsen due to previous complaints. bought vehicle for reliability, see now that chevrolet cannot provide that, nor the appropriate response of recalling this vehicle's malfunction. not only nervous due to unreliability of vehicle and safety, but also disappointed in chevrolet. *tr

bought the car used from a non-chevy dealer in june 2014. after about a month or so and 44000 mpg. all of a sudden, the time/temp/date display (along with the radio) started blacking out. then a few times the "service power steering" warning light flashed on and off and we actually lost our power steering momentarily several times and today 07-20-2014 with me, my husband and 6yr old daughter in the car!!!! very scary. then the "service stabilitrak" warning light flashed on and off as well. at the same time the time/temp/date blacks out again too. the car loses power when traveling at speeds over 50mph. all the warning lights have flickered on and off several times along with the power steering and stablitrak. this issue needs to be addressed. i will be contacting a dealer and legal action will be taken if issue isn't resolved. peoples lives and safety are not something to be taken lightly. *tr

While driving, my car dash board and radio flicker and i lost total power/lights for about 15-20 seconds. panic, as i think the car has stalled in traffic. radio and dash lights came back on but i received an error message "service brakes on" or something similar (as it only displays for a few seconds). this is the 5th time i have experienced this problem. i have taken it in for service 3 times. 1st service call no error could be detected. the 2nd service call i was told my radio was defective, and a new one was ordered and installed. 3rd service, my car has been there for 2 days, and i am being told a technician is working on it. i am worried this car will stall on me and place me in a very dangerous situation due to not having power control due to this intermittent flicker. ..updated 08/11/14 *bf

Several times now (usually after it rains but persisting long after) i have been having electrical problems with my 2012 chevy cruze. at random, the radio loses power and may come back on automatically or flicker continuously. it occasionally happens when i press the brake, use the turn signal, or roll down the window. about every 3rd time on average that i have noticed this i also see a message come across the display that says "service stabilitrak" or other random messages or dash lights. once the "power steering" notification came on and i could feel the car lose power steering for only a moment. one other thing that has happened was that my horn sounded all on it's own when the radio flickered. i called my dealership and they had me bring my car in for testing after this first happened. they were unable to find anything wrong with my car, and after they performed these tests my car did not malfunction again for quite a while. it is scary driving down the road when this happens because i don't know if i am losing power to the headlights/tail lights when this is happening, and since it happens at random i can't just ask someone if it is happening. glad to see other people are having this problem, because the people at the car dealership looked at me like i was insane :/ please help gm, please find what is causing these short circuits and issue a recall! *tr

On this particular occurrence the lights on the radio display began to flicker and then all electrical power to the dashboard, airbags, and the electrically assisted power steering went out. it remained off for approximately 10 to 15 seconds. as a result i had no control over the vehicle. the electrical came back on and the dash display depicted the warning message check stabilititrak, or words to that effect. i took it to the dealership and they said that nothing showed up on the scope and there was nothing they could do. this has also happened to my grand daughter on 07/09/2014 out in colorado as she is using the vehicle for school and work. again the dealer states there is nothing showing up on the scope and they have not been able to duplicate the issue even though she had her friend record the event with their cell phone. during this event the vehicle could not be restarted after the vehicle was turned off in a parking lot. after an hour wait the vehicle was started. *tr

Since 11/13 to present, i've been experiencing instances with the stability trak issues with the radio turning on/off for a few mins; the dashboard lights would blink and go dim; it happened often when i'd use the defogger and try to let the window up/down and it would also dim my headlights (i noticed that in the evenings) or even just using the turn signal. recently i was hitting the highway & the power steering went out, the doors unlocked & the messages were on my dash. there's also a dark ring around my steering wheel for the airbag that i believed tried to open. i had to turn the steering wheel with a lot of force to pull to the side of the road to avoid getting hit from behind. i turned the car off & waited a few minutes & turned it back on. it came back on with no issues. the next day the power steering went out again but this time i was in the driveway after arriving home. both times that this has happened, i was using my ac. i went to the dealership & was told that the codes may not come up since it had only happened 2 times. i took it to advance auto and they put it on their computer and no codes showed up. i was told by the place that i purchased my car from to wait for the recall. i've been checking every day since then to see if there is a recall for my car because i don't want to pay for repairs that should already be on the recall list! i'm too afraid to drive the car a long distance for fear of getting hit or even killed by other vehicles if & when my car does it again. *tr

I bought a 2012 cruze in march. it ran great when i test drove it and for the first couple of months. then at the 3rd month we started to have problems. it has about 29000 miles on it right now. all of a sudden, the time/temp/date display (along with the radio) started blacking out. then a few times the "service power steering" warning light flashed on and off and we actually lost our power steering momentarily. very scary. then the "service stabilitrak" warning light flashed on and off as well. at the same time the time/temp/date blacks out again too. our car is gm certified and still under the factory warranty, so we took it in to our local chevy dealer. (we did not buy it from them, but it is closer than the place we bought it) they have tried at least 3 times to fix it since this started. but when they drive it, nothing happens. it only does it when we are driving!. now the chevy dealer can't find anything wrong on the computer, they can't duplicate the problem when they drive it. they replaced the brake module. no luck. after about 3 weeks, they returned the car to us last night and said we should get rid of it. i am completely shocked. i don't know what to do. the service person even told us to take it back where we bought it and demand they give us a different car! i picked up the car last night and this morning drove it about 1 mile and the time/temp display went out again, even longer than before. can't hear the blinker blink and, the "service stabilitrak" light went on again. please help! force gm to recall these. i am afraid to drive it. part of the frustration is that the dealership service personnel said they called gm and the engineers, and other dealerships and they said none of them had ever had this happen. i don't believe them. *tr

I got my car in march & absolutely loved it! for the first few months i had no problems. then i started to notice the radio flickering on and off while driving for no reason, which eventually led to the radio flickering continuously after using blinkers &windows. "service stabilitrak" flashes on the display often but very quickly and goes off. doesn't occur every time i drive, but it does it more times than not. now the radio will flicker and i will occasionally lose cruise control and power steering. i also have no blinkers/radio when this happens. it usually only happens briefly and will return to normal soon after, but it continues to do it off and on until i park. i have also noticed this occurring when i shift gears to park. most recently i went to start my car and it just clicked and wouldn't start. i got it to start and it said "service anti theft deterrent," then changed to "service power steering" just as i lost power steering while driving. "service stabilitrak quickly flashed next all while i lost blinkers, power steering, and radio. i parked, turned my car off and restarted it and it was just fine. it has been to the chevy dealer multiple times but they cannot get a code to read because they can't get the radio to flicker, etc because it only happens every so often but when it does happen it is scary! so there is nothing they can do to fix it. please look into it as i do not feel safe driving. this has been going on for 2 months now and i do not feel like this car is reliable which is the reason i bought it! there has to be something that can be done as i have read several complaints that are extremely similar to mine! i also have come to the conclusion that the problems are going to continue to worsen after reading the other complaints.it is a major problem. please don't wait until something tragic happens before something is done about this! please![xxx] information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6). *tr

I was driving home from work, about 15 miles on the freeway at the speed limit which is 75 mph. the car with no warning completely shut itself off. as a result, i lost the ability to steer or brake. i would estimate it stayed off for approximately 5 seconds before kicking back on, without my having to restart. i treated this as an anomaly. last week on my way to work, which is in the dark at 3am, it shut itself of 3 times within 10 miles of a 70 mile drive. each time giving me a service indicator light of some sort ( service stabilitrak, service anti theft...) i had no steering, no breaks and no lights. again this is in the dark!! i noticed that there are 43 other complaints of this very serious safety issue with no resolution from this site , the dealerships or the manufacturer. is it going to take a death or horrifyingly bad accident to get this addressed??? *tr

Radio flashed on and off and all brake lights on dash would light up. service stability control notice would appear. then it would go away and reappear. did this for an entire hour and a half ride on highway. radio on radio off dashboard lights on and off. blinker no longer clicked when used... disconcerting to drive a car with such problems. a week earlier i had car issues covered under power tran warranty... and now this...all after a massive recall announced. think gm needs to re look at all of their cars... *tr

I am filing a complaint on a 2012 chevrolet cruz ls, that i purchased at cowboy motors. i purchased this vehicle on june 07, 2013,it had 46211 miles and it now has 49789 miles. recently, my wife noticed the radio would cut off and a month ago she told me about an issue dealing with the steering. she said it would get hard to control and sometimes almost impossible. also, the dash indicator light came on symbolizing that we needed to check the steering. i begin to drive the car to see what was happening, nothing happened, until about 10 days ago it happen to me. i have called the dealership and asked if there has been any problems listed with the steering, i was told no but i should bring it in since i had a extended warranty and it would cost a $50 deductible if the warranty covered it. i got on the internet and found out that there is a list of people with the same problem as ours. i am fearful for my wife and grandchildren. i feel that this is a defect in the automobile and something should be done by the dealer or manufacture, to address the problem and from what i read, no one seems to know what the problem is exactly. this is a safety factor issue and my concern is what can i do to get my car fix without it costing me. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2012 chevrolet cruze. while driving with the cruise control set to 75 mph, the vehicle traveled at 80 mph independently. additionally, while reversing at very low mileage, the vehicle abnormally accelerated and reversed into a pole. the contact was able to drive away from the scene without any injuries. the vehicle was taken to the dealer four times however, the dealer was unable to duplicate the failure. the contact believed that the vehicle had a "mind of its own" and would erroneously perform in ways that it was not designed. the contact requested the bluetooth be removed from the vehicle and inquired about having the gps removed, as she believed that the transmitter was the cause of the failures. the manufacturer was contacted, but offered no assistance. the vehicle was not repaired. the failure mileage was 38,000.

2012 chevrolet cruze. consumer requests reimbursement for vehicle defect repairs. *smd according to the invoice, the vehicle lost power and shut off while driving. the dealer replaced the battery and fuse block on the battery.

Trunk release does not work. the trunk opens only after actuating the button on the fob

As i drive down the road my stability trak light comes on and my radio turns on and off. now my power steering goes out and my car won't always start. i've taken it in 3 times to have these issues fixed and nobody can seem to figure out what is wrong. i've been left stranded with my 3 year old son because my car wont start. i've only had this car 2 months and it is by far the worst car i have ever had. *tr

Radio starts turning on and off,stability control lights flash,power steering gets hard to turn.this is the third time we brought it to the shop.its good for a week or so and does the samething again. they claim this is the only cruze they ever heard of doing this.i don't think so not according to your web site somebody knows this is a big problem. why do dealer ships think lying is the way to solve the problem, i mean it just come out and say ya your daughters car is not the only 2012 cruze with this problem! my patience are getting a little thin. car was bought with 20000 miles on it by my oldest daughter who is 20 yrs old and putting herself trough college to become a nurse. she was so happy when she bought the car now she thinks she bought a lemon! car from kissel chevrolet calumet mi cant figure out the problem, its to late when somebody gets hurt or worse!!!! concerned father. *tr

In april i had been driving and noticed that my radio was flickering. after about ten minutes of my radio flickering on and off, the "service stabilitrack" light came on. once the service light came on, power steering shut off and i had to pull the vehicle over. after pulling over, i shut off the vehicle and then tried to restart it. this time it started with a new service light on. i took the car into the dealership and they had it for three days hoping that the problem would present itself to them. i showed them a video of what happens to the radio and they were unable to help me. they did however notice that a previously recall done on my car had not been fixed before i purchased it. a few days after getting the car back, the lights started to flicker again. i contacted the dealership and they let me know that there was no point in bringing it in unless the problem was constant. about a month later, i went to start my car and nothing. no lights, no engine turn over nothing. my key was stuck in the ignition and would not turn. my fiance had to get out tap the battery and the whole thing started up. two days ago, the same radio, service lights and engine shut off happened again. this is 2 times now that i have had complete failure in the middle of the road. i am literally terrified for my life!!!!!!!....updated 07/31/14 *bf updated 08/23/2017*ct *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2012 chevrolet cruze. the contact stated that the instrument panel darkened while driving various speeds. in addition, the key was stuck in the ignition when the contact attempted to restart the vehicle. the vehicle battery had to be disconnected in order to release the key from the ignition. the failure occurred numerous times. the vehicle was taken to the dealer six times for the failure; however, the dealer was unable to locate a failure code. the vehicle was not repaired. the vin was unavailable. the failure mileage was 19,000.

Vehicle started with the radio panel light flashing on and off and the radio would also turn off. today the electrical problems progressed greatly, impacting the power stealing i was turning around the corner and , the steering seems to stick/bind and requires additional effort to make a steering correction. i almost hit the car waiting in the corner for the light. but i was able to control the steering while even though it was very hard to do. *tr

I purchased a used chevy cruze, previous rental, from the chevy dealer about a month ago. within the past week i began to have intermittent electrical issues, which started with the radio panel light flashing on and off and the radio would also turn off for several mins at a time. today the electrical problems progressed greatly, impacting the power stealing and i lost power steering completely while driving. in addition, multiple warning signals began to flash: power steering, stabilink, brakes and security traction control. this happened while driving, thankfully i was going at a very low speed otherwise this could have been a potential serious and dangerous situation as i briefly lost control of the car and almost crashed at 10mph (or less.) thankfully i was already on my way to the dealer (1 miles away) for an appointment for servicing that i had previously scheduled due to this issue. once i got to the dealer they were able to see the issues first hand. i turned off the car and then this car completely died. i left the car at the dealer and hope this issue is resolved and the car is safe to drive. honesty, i am very nervous to drive the car in fear that the car is unsafe and these issues will continue. *tr

Our 2012 chevy cruze started with the radio turning "off" and "on" on its own the month after we bought the car. a month later it happened again as well as left my wife stranded at a store. car didn't want to turn on. i figured it may have been a bad battery. before i could even "jump" the vehicle, the car got all power back on with no problem. the 3rd time radio turned off and on its own and then shut down completely with no power to vehicle at the same store near my wife's work. i noticed nothing electrical worked in the car, like hazard lights, brake lights, and anything that should have 12 volt constant power. i now carry a multimeter in the car. on a 400 mile drive on the highway i experience the radio issue as well as "stabilitrac", and many other malfunction lights displaying on and off on my dash while driving 75 mph. i even recorded this while driving. my family and i were on vacation and while driving i lost power steering then the car shut down and left us stranded with no power again. wait about 10 to 15 minutes, the car will return back to normal like nothing happened. took it straight to the dealer right at that moment and they couldn't duplicate the problems. returned home from vacation and it all happened again in traffic while driving. my wife and kids were in the car. i called for a tow truck and towed it to the chevy dealership in town. i left it with them for 4 days and they still couldn't find anything wrong with the car. this car still continues to turn off to this day and i've only had the car for 6 month now. i won't let my family in this car. i have also experienced the door locks, lock and unlock on its own and the wipers activated on there own. not sure whether it could be a bad ecu, bcm, electrical harness, fuse boxes. the ecu was reprogrammed at the 2000 miles for an unknown reason. wish i had bought a different car instead of this lemon. *tr

Car drives fine but interior lights go out radio starts blinking and service stabilitrak, service traction control, service antitheft, and service power steering lights come on the dash. i took the car to the dealership where they replaced the bcm. this did nothing 4 days later it all started again. after turning the car off everything resets. on some occasions the antitheft stops the car from starting back up i have to leave the car sit with the key on engine off for about 5 minutes then it will start. there is no loss of power in the engine and all the gauges still work. when i apply the brakes this happens, or when i try to roll down the window, or even when im just cruising down the street without and changing speed or anything in the car. *tr

my 2012 chevy cruze turned the radio dashboard on/off and the check engine light came on in december 2013 the engine light remained on the radio only once then didn't do it again. in february 2014 it started doing it again this time the stereo would turn on/of, the dash board on/off and my locks would unlock and lock themselves the blinker stopped making the clicking sound and the open door sound failed as well. this problem would occur occasionally until april 2014 the vehicle started to do all the issues above except this time it would include anti theft,service stabiltrack,and power warnings every time and the vehicle would turn off/on the engine and required me to put it on park and turn it off/on. in may 12 of 2014 i took the vehicle into the chevrolet dealer to resolve this issue.they resolved several issues to what they believed resolved the issue of the vehicle turning on off. that didn't resolve the issue. my vehicle now is worse it turns off/on while driving accelerating or decelerating. it turns the radio on/off and gives me the same errors codes. its life threatening as i almost got into a accident jumping onto the free way june 1014, my vehicle turned off and would not turn on on the free way entrance and a vehicle from behind was about to hit me. my vehicle is un safe for ,me and my family keeps turning on/off and i have taken it to chevrolet dealer 3 times and they do not know what is wrong. life threatening issues!! *js

We have video of the radio display area going blank then coming on then going blank continually, it takes out all sound i.e., radio, navigational instructions, blinker sound .. while throwing multiple error codes in the area for odometer reading i.e., service stabila track, service traction control. the users manual tells you that if something like this happens to shut off the car to reset the car. if you do shut it off or stall out the car (manual transmission) everything goes dead. it cannot be accessed by onstar (i called them on 2-19-2014 and asked them to document that they could not access the car ... it simply read "error" for them) the fob key has no effect, there is no steering, no brakes, no lights, no nothing for 20 to 45 minutes. so if in traffic .. the car simply becomes either a road block or a target. the car has been into 2 different dealerships and even with video of the incidents they simply say they can find nothing wrong and make ridiculous suggestions. the car as is, is an accident or worse waiting to happen. *tr!....updated 07/31/14 *bf

While driving all the lights are coming on, the dashboard. the brake lights, service stabilitrak light, and the abs light and the radio blinks on and off and then sometimes the radio stays off for several minutes. i had taken the care to the dealership to have them to check it and they advised me it was my thermostat causing the issue. they replaced the thermostat which was under warranty and the dealership said everything was ok to go. a week later the all the lights on the dashboard came back on again i took it back to the dealership and they advised me they didn't see any codes reading that there was and issue. i showed them the pictures and the video that i captured while the car was doing it and they advised me i had a electrical problem but they can't find it. the problem is still an issue and its still doing the same thing. *tr

I was sitting at a stoplight to turn left. after the light turned green i applied pressure to the gas pedal and noticed a slight loss of power. as i proceeded through the turn i had difficulty turning as though i had no power steering. once through the turn i still has no power steering and noted a message on the dash reading "service steering". i controlled the car to the next stoplight which was approximately 1/2 mile during which time i still had no power steering. at the stop light i turned the car off, and started it again. after restarting the car i had no more problems with the steering. prior to this instance and multiple times following i have had issues with the electrical system failing. it usually begins with the radio board "blinking" off. by blinking i mean that the radio completely shuts off and the radio dash lights blink off and on until it finally returns to full power. but usually its not a one time thing. there are times where this occurs every 5 seconds until i'm able to pull the car over and turn it off. while this occurs i will get a message on my dash cluster saying to "service stabilitrac" along with several other cluster lights that blink. i have taken this car to the dealership where it was purchased and they have not been able to reproduce what i've experienced, and such they have not been able to fix anything. this first began while the car was under bumper to bumper warranty, but that has since passed and if they were able to actually fix anything i would be stuck with the bill. *tt

Vehicle no longer acknowledged presence of the key fob in vehicle and warned that the vehicle should not be shut off. key fob was in the vehicle at the time and had been detected to unlock the door automatically and allow ignition of vehicle by pressing start button while fob was in my pocket. once we stopped the vehicle, it would not restart until 9 or 10 tries of pushing the ignition. after the initial occurrence while driving, it then sporadically had issues with starting. each time it it would show a warning message that the key fob was not detected, even though it just auto unlocked the doors after sensing the key fob. dealer replaced key fobs, and problem returned. two days later nearly stranding my wife while travelling out of town since the car would not initially start. dealer then replaced the module/computer that controls the keyless functionality. problem reoccurred a few days later. dealer will now replace the key fobs again while the vehicle is in for a separate repair. *tr

My trunk opened at random when i was headed to work. this occurred many times when i was driving and as well as when the car was parked and locked. it could have caused an accident due to a distraction and having to pull over, items falling out in front of vehicle following, and also could have had items stolen. since the middle of summer, it has stopped that issue but, the trunk will not open with the button on the rear of the trunk. the only way it open is with the key fob. this is very inconvenient and has happened to many others. i have stopped at a few chevrolet dealers asking for them to fix this before my warranty expired but they would not cover it. *tr

Recently, car radio has been flickering on and off, along with service notifications of stabili trac, traction control. chevy dealer notified, serviced car, found nothing and has no explanation. today, stopped at a corner to make a right hand turn. as i was accelerating at approx 2-3 mph around the corner, then steering was lost and could not turn the corner. lost all control of car. very fortunate there was no damage or injury to anything or anyone. scary incident that could of had a worse outcome. *tr

This incident has happened on numerous occasions and was taken to the dealership three different times to address the issue... the problem is still occurring and nothing is resolved. radio would turn on/off and dashboard lights kept flickering, service traction control and service stability trak would pop up along wit fh the engine light and traction control light and the vehicle turned on/off. engine would sound really loud at times, even after the car was turned off (maybe it was the engine fan but i'm not sure)... this car is nothing but problems after problems and they are not getting resolved because they keep recurring. *tr

It begins with the radio blinking on and off when this is happening there are several things we notice that goes on in the instrument panel such as signal lights no sound, sometimes putting the window up will trigger the wrench to be displayed, also loss of the ability to turn the wheel. no cruise control when the radio is blinking. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2012 chevrolet cruze. the contact stated that while stopped at a traffic light, the radio would shut off and on independently, and the instrument panel gauges would flicker. also, the contact mentioned that the warning lights on the instrument panel would randomly illuminate and the power steering failed causing her to use extreme force to control the steering wheel. the vehicle would resume normal operation. in addition, the key failed to release from the ignition and the contact had to have the vehicle jump started. the dealer diagnosed that all the electrical cords were corroded. however, the parts to the repair was unavailable. the manufacturer was not notified of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 50,000.

Car has ongoing issues with radio flashing, multiple errors appearing on the dash, blinkers having sound one minute and not the next. when these issues occur and you are turning on your bright lights, the radio discontinues playing then starts again. since these issues are intermittent, i recorded the issues and took the car to progressive chevrolet. i showed them the video and the kept the car and tried to recreate the issue. they indicated they were unable to recreate the issue and did not advise me they fixed anything on the car. after filing a complaint with the better business bureau, a gm representative advised me that progressive had replaced the brake vacuum micro switch during this visit. my husband and i were never advised of this repair. after speaking with the gm representative, i checked the receipt and it was listed as being completed at no charge. i feel we weren't advised of this repair because we were attempting to trade the car in and were negotiating with their sales team. i did not purchase a car from them due to the value that they wanted to give me on this car. the car with all of the problems that they cannot fix!! ongoing issues continue and i have been advised by gm to take the car back to a dealership and have them review the car again. i have an appointment scheduled for tomorrow, monday, march 31, 2014. this issue is very distracting and causes a lot of stress on the individuals in the car! the lights flashing at night are blinding and could truly cause a person to get into an accident. you worry what is not going to work when this is taking place. help in determining what is causing these problems and having gm recall these cars and take responsibility is necessary! i am sure it will save lives! *tr

December 2013 -- the radio and dash board lights (service stabilitrak) have been flashing on and off then this evening while driving on a straight road, the "service power steering" light flashed on and my steering wheel locked up. that continued for approx. 2 minutes then started working correctly. when i got home and pulled into my parking spot and turned my car off everything turned off, including my interior lights and i couldn't remove my key from the ignition. i let it sit for approx. 5 minutes then tried to start the car and it did turn on so i turned it off again and i was able to remove the key. february 2014 -- the same things are happening and the power steering turns off and the steering wheel locks up may 2014 -- power steering turns off and steering wheel locks up; battery completely dies randomly; new dealership tells me the battery cables need to be replaced; however, other cruze owners who have filed a complaint with the same issues and had their battery cable replaced report that this does not resolve the issue. *tr

Car shuts down and it can not be restarted,(no dome light, no on start) no power anywhere..can't get keys out of ignition,going down the road, steering service light come on and off, radio display shuts down and restarts, gauges turn on and off..dealership has replaced battery, generator and it is still doing the same thing. currently at dealership again.!....updated 07/31/14 *bf it was determined the ground wire on the battery was broke. which caused the vehicle to stall, shutting down all the gauges. there have been no problems, since it was replaced. updated 09/23/14

The center information center with the radio began shutting on and off while driving. when the display & radio shuts off, even the blinker wouldn't make a sound. sometimes during this a notification would come up "service traction control" and/or "service stabilitrack." i tried troubleshooting it myself for a few days. sometimes the blinker, seat warmer, or even plugging in my phone to the usb port seemed to trigger it. i noticed the voltage fluctuating from 12.9 - 15.2v while driving or at a stop. the day that i took the vehicle in for repair, all the notification lights began to blink and then the power steering went out during a left turn. the dealership replaced both battery cables and mentioned that they've had many of these cars in with this same issue. the issue appeared to be resolved and the car was running great, until yesterday 1/15/14. everything mentioned above, except for the power steering loss, is happening again. if you search the internet and youtube, you'll quickly see this is a growing problem that needs to be resolved and recalled. *tr

While driving all of the dash lights keep flickering on and off. the power steering went out and the ac turned off and would not turn on. the next day the car would not start and key was stuck in the ignition. *tr

The radio electrical panel would turn on & off intermittently, then the drivers gauge panel would flicker. after the gauge panel flickered, the power steering warning light came on and the power steering shut off. then the traction control warning light came on and the traction control stopped working. then i went to roll up the windows and the whole dash panel flickered, then the windows would not roll up. there appears to be a serious electrical problem in the vehicle somewhere. it acts as though there is a short in the wiring harness somewhere. i am taking it to the chevrolet dealer for diagnostics. *tr

Anti theft system killed engine on car would not start, radio flickered on and off lost sound and display have had issue with radio many times since put display on voltage and noticed it showed 12.8 to 15.9 volts when this occurred . definite issue some where and noticed the last time this occurred steering got tight. this needs to be researched and a fix provided. dealer can not duplicate when there also have had car lock itself. *tr

This started this week, the electrical parts (radio, speakers, turning signal clicker, ac etc) will constantly flicker off then come back on after about ten seconds, every time i have the car running. the stability warning will sometimes go on but will eventually go out. the specific incident occurred the the 27th of august when i went to take a left turn, on to a highway. when i went to make a turn my power steering locked up and almost caused me to hit a passing car and get rear ended. it specifically locked up at about ten miles an hour while picking up speed. after i returned to my parking lot it locked up again and caused me to hit a barrier, slightly damaging the front bumper. since then my power steering will sometimes lock up making it extremely difficult to turn. *tt

Car towed from serpentini to progressive since the repair that progressive completed a week prior did not fix the existing problem. car shutting off and not starting. progressive wiring harness to ubec has bad connection due to ubec and wiring harness connection stripped out, necessary to replace complete harness. removed ubec, replaced fuse block, main body harness, required r&r of battery and tray, ebcm, master cylinder and brake booster, dash components removed/loosened to remove brake/gas pedal bracket assembly (harness grommet installed between bracket and firewall), r&r of trunk panels, complete interior including rear seats, lowering headliner. replaced brake booster pushrod clip and rear seat side bolster clip with repair. gm paid for the cost of this repair. additional electrical issues continue with car. will add an additional complaint. *tr

Stopped at a stop sign and car started missing when attempting to go thru intersection. car stopped and would not start. car was towed to serpentini chevrolet in strongsville. they indicated the car started at their facility but was giving the same code (heck z - u0109) that progressive chevrolet in canton had gotten and progressive replaced the fuel pump control module 3 days prior. serpentini indicated the car was fine. i complained to progressive and they had the car towed from serpentini back to their facility. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2012 chevrolet cruze. the contact stated while driving at 40 mph, the service stabilitrak warning indicator illuminated and the vehicle stalled. the contact had to tug on the battery cable in order to restart the vehicle. the vehicle was taken to the dealer. however, the mechanic could not duplicate the problem but decided to remove some clips on the battery cable as a temporary remedy. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was not made aware of the problem. the approximate failure mileage was 45,000.
