Driving down the interstate doing 70-80mph and the car starts dinging-stabilitrack, traction control, and reduced power all come on and the car loses power without any warning and couldn't drive faster than 5 mph and had to get to the shoulder of the road without getting hit by other vehicles doing the same speed. this vehicle with this issue that came out of nowhere should not be driven on the road. i have had several issues with this vehicle and cel lights on but nothing that almost completely stops vehicle without warning and almost kills everyone in the car! i get they are trying to save the engine or whatever from further damage but i am pretty sure that i would like to live and not kill anyone else in the process of this so called safety precaution the vehicle takes on.
The oil cooler seal leaks, and drops oil on the exhaust. this gives off smoke, and is a fire hazard. also the fumes from the dripping oil is sucked into the cabin air intake, and contaminates the air in the cabin.
Fuel damper is literally spraying a steady stream of gasoline inside engine bay. apparently a very common problem because parts are on back order everywhere i call. my daughter drives this car, and to have her safety in jeopardy is unacceptable. this vehicle was recalled because of oil plate under engine which would pool oil and risk a fire, but gasoline spraying in engine bay has no attention to a recall
I have a 2012 chevy cruze 1.4 turbo engine the issue is over heating .. this issue is reoccurring.. i was driving for approximately 10 to 20 minutes when the indicator on the dash reads that the car is to hot yo drive and will shut down left me stranded on the road side. i take it to chevy dealer to learn there has been a thermostat problem i get the issue repaird it runs ok for a while then again same problem (over heated) one again. take again to chevy dealer they tell me it's the water pump. i have the water pump repaired. all is ok for a short while. again the same issue i call chevy dealer again to bring my car back for the 4th time. they schedule my appt. to look at my car one again and on my way to the dealer car over heats turns its self off and will not start back after cooling down. finally i get the car to the deal to learn that it blew the head gasket and now because it' over headed so many times i now need an engine!!! there has been extend warranty on all of the cooling parts of the engine and this issue should also be covered however the dealer will not fix the caused problem from the faulty parts !!!!!!
2012 chevrolet cruz. consumer writes in regards to defective coolant system. *ld the consumer stated after having both the hoses and clips replaced, the mechanic stated engine seal must have been leaking. the consumer requested to be reimbursed for the repairs. *js
Engine has loud injector and purge valves both producing a clicking noise. the noise can clearly be heard from inside/outside car with hood closed. this issue is triggering a knock sensor code. the car has always had burning oil smell as well which while under warranty the dealership magically could not produce. i believe they did not want to produce it as it has always clearly been there from day one off dealer's lot. i know for fact i am not the only one to experience these issues. i am adding the website as reference; https://www.cruzetalk.com/threads/lifter-issue-with-2012-eco.165122/ this noise is present when vehicle is idle, running and in motion. my vehicle has 88,000 miles total which is very little for engine issues! the dealership i took it to for diagnosis said his daughter's cruze had the same identical issue and was covered under powertrain warranty. unfortunately, as i stated, the dealer could never find any issues while covered under warranty. i am concerned i will be left stranded somewhere with this vehicle and/or it catches on fire due to some sort of oil/engine issue.
Tl* the contact owns a 2012 chevrolet cruze. while driving approximately 70 mph, the vehicle abruptly shut off and the start/stop button light flashed. the vehicle was restarted and driven to an independent mechanic where it was determined that the shut off valve failed and needed replacement. the vehicle was driven to autonation chevrolet of north richland hills (7769 blvd 26, north richland hills, tx 76180), but was not diagnosed or repaired. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 123,000.
Sometimes when i slow to a stop or just driving car shuts off without warning. no lights or anything come on in the dash showing it's off. starts right back up but very dangerous could cause an accident.
The car does a lot of stalling when you're driving it. also the engin light will come on and stay on maybe a day, then go off. just on and off anytime. automobile losses power when this happens..
Our chevy cruze had started shifting strange while driving, losing power and it would start to idle rough, and just shut off, a day later the engine light came on and we ran a code scanner on it to find out what was wrong. 7 error codes came up and it all led to a failed pcv valve. two days later it was in the shop and we are now faced with a major repair cost.
I noticed that my vehicle seemed to be having issues when i pressed on the brake, so i took it in. i found out that it was a completely unrelated issue, and had to do with a crack running through the manifold. this was causing oil and coolant to leak onto the alternator. if i had not caught this early enough, they said i would have not been able to get it fixed. they repaired the leak, but a couple weeks later i noticed my car losing significant amounts of coolant/oil. this is causing oil and coolant to affect the turbo setting of my manual car, and has cost me up to $2,000 in repairs. this has been the underlying problem as to why i had to get my flywheel replaced 2 years ago, which was another $1,500. this is also what caused the transmission failure 3 years ago, another thousand dollars. i noted that the vehicle began leaking fluid after being stationary or moving while/after running for 10 minutes or longer.
Engine recall! the engine often makes sound that is different than normal. over 100,000 miles, the problem starts! when not in motion, although the engine is on, the vehicle engine stops even in waiting at the traffic light stop.
Oil was dripping, went to go get it fixed and my mechanic supposedly fixed it. drove for about a mile and car started smoking and my belt was on fire and crumbled off my car. i purchased this vehicle almost one month ago and only been able to drive for a week total because of this oil issue. i am paying money to fix and they still can't tell me what's wrong so i looked it up for recalls and saw this had and recall just like i explained but not associated with my vin. please help. my car is now undriveable. i was driving when the car started smoking and i pulled over and noticed the belt on the ground burning. not driving after that.
The check engine light came on while i was driving stopped at advance soon as it came and then cut the car off and then it would not crank back. had to have car towed to garage. foudn out that it was the ecm computer messed up and only have 70,000 miles on the car. garage called chevy and they stopped covering the computer 3 years ago due to so many calls about the computer messing up. this should have been a recall then and they will not cover the repairs to my car.
While driving my 2012 chevy cruze, my radio will shut off randomly for about 10 seconds, and when it does, i lose complete control of the steering. it is like the car shuts off but when the radio turns back on, then the car will restore power. very dangerous and scary!!! and yet, there is still no recall for my specific vin. also, for two mornings in a row, i have noticed a smell and some smoke coming from the engine. it will only do it for about 5 minutes and the car will not overheat. i swear it is one thing after another with this car.
It has been numerous times where i have been driving, whether it be on the highway or a city street, and my car gears have switched all the way down to the lowest gear and it causes my vehicle to jerk and slow all the way down. this is very dangerous especially when there is other vehicles behind me.

Engine overheated, got that fixed. not even 3 weeks later, check engine light comes on again'car shakes when stopped and still sounds like the engine is running when the car is off.
Tl* the contact owns a 2012 chevrolet cruze. while driving 70 mph, the vehicle unintentionally decelerated. when the failure occurred, the vehicle took time to accelerate and the check engine indicator illuminated. also, while the vehicle was at a stop light, it violently vibrated and stalled, but was able to restart. the vehicle was taken to feldman chevrolet of lansing (2801 e michigan ave, lansing, mi 48912, (517) 507-4948) where the contact was informed that the turbo in the engine needed to be replaced. the contact mentioned that the part was previously repaired. the vehicle was not repaired again. the manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. the failure mileage was 150,000.

My brakes keep going "hard" and not functioning properly. about a year ago i had my master cylander, brake booster, microswitch in the brake vacuum line, maf sensor and air intake hose replaced because the mechanic said those were the issues, i went 2 weeks without my vehicle, including breaking down for multiple days out of state. now here i am with the same issues. before i had them replaced i was told that the microswitch in the brake system was already recalled and replaced. but since then it has failed again. i was told by chevy that they only do the recall once, but if they are replacing it with a faulty part shouldn't that be recalled again? i have two toddlers in my vehicle regularly and losing the power brakes could end very bad. the power brakes fail almost every day, usually the first time i hit the brakes after starting to vehicle. witch make me think that its going to completely fail again soon.
Purchased my 2012 chevy cruze march of 2016. july 2016 the car will continue to run after the key was out ignition i took it to naperville chevy they changed thermostat. october 2016 the car would run on highway or street all of a sudden service traction light comes on the car only go to 20mph suddenly then it will turn off. took it to chevy again they said trans module they fixed it march 2017 it happened again they didn't know the problem because no engine light on it happened every 4 months october 2018 trans line leaking with the same sign no faster than 20mph jerking they fixed lines january 2019 car jerking again car goes 20 mph but the car will stop at stop sign and will i accelerate to go the car won't move at all i have to turn it off to drive again
Catalytic converter, engine light on and sulpher smell
Car was stopped at a red light, ready to make a left-turn and completely shut off for no reason. it turned on after some minutes but there are many complaints online (https://www.cargurus.com/cars/discussion-t65940_ds765514) of the same issue with this make and model (including newer ones), a lot being while the car is actually driving. this is so dangerous!! we don't feel safe continuing to operate the car since finding out it's a recurrent problem for people with this car who have had no resolution even after filing multiple claims with car company and taking it to the mechanic.
Turbo charger valve failed causing multiple other issues. car shuts off randomly. stability track keeps coming on even after the wire to the battery was replaced.
I took it to firestone for an inspection because i was having issues with my car and was told that i had a faulty cylinder head.
I am having issues with my turbo. after taking it to my mechanic i am told that it is a common issue
Significant coolant leak causing engine to overheat
I bought my car in 2015, it is a 2012 chevy cruze eco. i've had to replace the camshaft cover(pcv) 2 times in a year due to the gasket being crap and causing horrible oil leaks! here i am again, changed it and it is again faulty and leaking oil. this needs to be warranty and covered by gm. i've already had to do the water pump myself because they wouldn't fix the water pump at any dealer. this is an ongoing issue with the oil leak, and needs to have a recall too fix anything, causing this problem.
The valve cover is [xxx]! i've replaced three in a year an a half! this is causing massive oil leaks and needs to be fixed! the whole [xxx] thingb i'm getting really pissed about this parts of this document have been redacted to protect personally identifiable information pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).
Car was like new for a few months, driven to and from orlando maybe 4 times, but mostly use it for work to take my daughter to school then it started the check engine light being on, then shortly, car started jerking while parked, or on brake, and the "check stabili track control" light comes on, and then would just turn off. i would start smelling a very strong burnt smell but no oil was falling to the floor, but once i stopped driving there would've smoke everywhere. was told there is a vacuum leak coming from pcv which is built in valve cover...have had valve cover changed 3 times in 3 weeks and each time, it looked like someone died under my hood and bled oil! am told that there is too much pressure coming in and so causes oil to find a way out and leaks it spills it slashes, and it's a mystery! also, there is another leak that all of a sudden strated from the side of the engine! when doing my research, there are soooooo many people with the same problems! this needs to be some sort of recall. please help!
Ac auto shutoff temp to high message comes on l. i have replaced the thermostat already three times. then the car won't start. disconnect the ground and put it back on and it starts just fine. you can drive it for a while then ac off comes back in and start the process again.
While driving down the road still within city list, the car began making a knocking noise, the check engine light came on and a low oil pressure warning flashed. after taking it to a local mechanic we were told that the engine is blown with 122k miles on it.
My vehicle was stationary and no running. i entered the vehicle and started it. the service traction control light flashed then the service stabilitrak light flashed the lights went away and the vehicle drove fine. several days later the same thing happened upon entering my driveway it started to sputter. four days after that upon starting the vehicle the same lights came on in addition to the check engine light. now when i start my vehicle the check engine light stays on and after the vehicle is warmed up the other two lights come on and then go off. my latest onstar diagnostic reports a problem with the ecm. i has been almost exactly three years to the date that these same things happened and were supposedly repaired under recall # 14801 and special coverage # 14311b. please advise.
Tl* the contact owns a 2012 chevrolet cruze. while driving 55 mph, the contact heard a high pitched noise coming from the engine compartment. the vehicle was pulled over and turned off. when the vehicle was restarted, the check engine indicator illuminated. the vehicle was driven to nalley chevrolet (4200 jonesboro rd, union city, ga 30291, (678) 369-6497) where it was diagnosed that the pcv valve was missing and the engine was intaking too much air. the dealer stated that they had to replace a shaft membrane. the manufacturer stated that there were no current recalls on the vehicle. the repairs were completed. the failure mileage was 89,000.
While driving in the city at night, the vehicle completely shut off, including the engine and all electrical systems without any warnings. this caused all lights to turn off, loss of power steering, power to brakes, and little to control to the vehicle. luckily, the vehicle behind me noticed and tailed me to a stop with their warning lights. i then proceeded to open the engine with a flashlight to discover that the battery was still properly connected (6 months old) with no frays or corrosion to the connectors or wiring. after about 5 minutes attempting to find a tow truck company the vehicle electrical system came back on with no intervention. i turned the ignition switch and the vehicle started with no issues and no engine lights on. i drove it the rest of the way home with no issues. when i got home i checked all the fuses and all were operable. the obd scanner found no codes. i am mid 30s 190ibs and fairly strong, i could only imagine if this happened in an intersection or during busy hours on the highway, i wouldn't be sitting here reporting this issue. i found numerous similar complaints on blogs concerning this model. i assume not many have reported properly since there is no recall issued for the electrical system.
Engine cooling system exploded while car in motion coolant was everywhere underneath the hood. belt broken.and has oil leaking.with an 800 hundred dollars bill while on vacation.
The valve cover and pcv valve leaks air bad and is defective. it constantly causes surging and multiple obd codes and the stabili/trac to flash and the radio to flash off and on. it idles rough and shuts off rough too. the gas mileage isn't as good as it should and the power isn't as good as it should. there should be a recall on this known defective pcv valve cover to be fixed
My transmission was shifting hard then i parked it got back in put in reverse and it won't move,it moved in drive so many feet making horrible noise and then went out of gear...now won't move at all
Overheats regularly even with antifreeze, stops reading coolant temperature randomly
Dangerous to drive this car 2012 chevy cruz. my cc 12 decided to jerk, shake, all panels starting flashing, shake, make noise and increase speed and then suddenly brakes kick in and it stopped in the middle lane of i95. becus powertran is over by 1 year, chevrolet wont do anything about it. they said to take to official chevy dealership. which now incurred a cost of 370 with discount. their rep told me a each time i call tha the powertrain is over however considering the trouble with the vehicle, you are on the perimeters of this. we get the diagnostics and work with you possible picking up some if not all of the cost. no such thing, instead their senior advisor advised me i am [xxx] out of luck on a 6 yrs old car with approx. 79 thousand miles. that's their response. out of car now 11 days, handed a bill for 370.00 to tell me the same thing my mechanic told me. information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6). *tr
Without any previous problems before this day.. my transmission went out with only 80,000 miles on june 7, 2018. being on a busy 2 lane, curvy highway, my car just completely went out of gear and thankfully i was able cruise off to the side. a few minutes later an alert than came up on my dash and said "transmission hot, idle engine". i had bought this car in 2014 with only one previous owner that took really good care of it. it is ridiculous for my transmission to go out with such low mileage and to have to pay $5,000 for a new one and plus the car payments i still have on it. unfortunately, i am not the only person to have this issue. there are many others. just because they look nice doesn't mean it will last long.
My car is very dangerous! shuts off while on freeway! jerks forward while on brakes, caused an accident! cruise control does not work! electrical things flashing all the time! jerks and locks up all 4 wheels while driving! just today is shut down on the highway i struggled to get it home while the rpm's were up above 6! you name it, it has it. think there should be a class action lawsuit against the makers of this vehicle!! class action lawsuit!!!!!
Vehicle engine light is on. vehicle is spilling oil causing smoke to be exhausted out of engine while driving vehicle. engine has had coolant leaks and engine head gasket is blown
This vehicle (chevy cruze 2012) is the worst vehicle made possible. there is oil leaks that have been fixed that occur again . there is a coolant leak that was fixed by the radiator connector. 15 minutes later of driving the vehicle 2 more hoses popped and caused the coolant to leak again. the radiator went bad and was changed the vehicle still over heated . the thermostat was changed and the vehicle was fine for 2 days. i go to start the vehicle and it doesn't want to turn over . come to find out at the same mechanic that i had the thermostat changed apparently said the head gasket was blown . then says there's something wrong with the cylinder heads . so all in all . this vehicle has had oil leaks , coolant leaks , engine lights , radiator issues , cylinderr head problems , misfiring and now a head gasket problem . this brings a safety issue to me that while i am driving my car is misfiring on me in the middle of the road while there is traffic going on and tons of people on the road . i could potentially be driving this vehicle and because of all of this electrical issues that gm is not capable of manufacturing correctly on these vehicles (chevy cruze) my car could of blew up while driving it. i have my nieces and nephews in the car while the car shakes out of nowhere which could of put there life in danger . chevy is no help what so ever they only want to charge to even look at a car they manufactured!!!! i ask for help from them and they seem so carefree . my life is in danger and no one cares!! someone will die by gm hands if this issue cannot be correctly fixed on these vehicles . you guys are selling cars that can kill someone and once you guys are notified of this no one cares . once there is a lawsuit under your company then maybe you guys will take this serious .
Even after free repair due to being covered under warranty, the new pcv valve and cover are leaking again. engine idles roughly, both in park and in drive. this is a known issue with chevrolet cruze, but my vin is not part of the recall. main error code p0171- bank 1 system too lean- is being picked up (check engine light came on yesterday morning (april 10, 2018)), along with error codes: p0106, p015b, p0236, p0237, p1101, p112d.
