Tl* the contact owns a 2006 toyota sienna. the contact stated that the air bag warning light illuminated indicating. the contact took the vehicle to the dealer for a diagnostic test. the test results determined that the side air bag was defective. the dealer advised the contact that the side air bag and harness needed to be replaced. the contact did not have the side air bags or the harness replaced due to the dealer not having the parts available to complete the repair. the failure mileage was 73,929.

Blinking airbag light appeared randomly, no causal incident. repair will cost over $1000. airbag wiring should not go bad on it's own after so few years and so few miles. *tr

Air bag warning light came on signifying a system failure. this is a chronic issue with 2006 siennas, regardless of mileage. seems to be more a matter of time. *tr

At 68000 miles, the srs light on my 2006 toyota sienna came on. it went off for about 2 hours then came back on. after the second time that it came on, i brought it to the dealer and they said that they diagnosed the problem as the connectors being bad and that the air bag had gone bad. there are thousands of complaints online about this exact same problem and model on both driver and passenger sides, yet toyota has not made a single recall for these problems with the airbags. what will it take for us drivers concerned about the safety of our children to get a recall for these faulty wirings and airbags? *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2006 toyota sienna. the contact stated that the air bag warning light illuminated. the vehicle was taken to a dealer for diagnosis. the technician diagnosed that there was a shortage in the air bag wiring harness. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was notified but did not offer any assistance. the failure and current mileage was 59,400.

Upon starting the vehicle, the srs warning light kept flashing. the dealer where the vehicle was purchased indicated that the vehicle needed to be brought in for an immediate inspection. after the inspection, the dealership determined that the wiring for the passenger side airbag had a short and needed to be replaced. cost for the repairs was estimated at $1,500. the dealership's service manager informed me that toyota would carry the cost of the repairs under warranty, even though the warranty on the vehicle expired at 60,000 miles. while the dealership's handling of this incident is certainly appreciated, it also made me suspicious. a quick google search showed various results indicating that an airbag issue in the 2006 toyota sienna is not an isolated incident. i would like to report this issue to the nhtsa for further investigation and a possible nationwide recall. airbag wiring should not need to be replaced with this sort of low mileage. thank you. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2006 toyota sienna. the contact stated that while sitting at a traffic stop, a vehicle crashed into the rear of the contact's vehicle. the contact's vehicle was pushed forward until crashing into a preceding vehicle. the air bags failed to deploy. the contact sustained head, neck, shoulder and back injuries. three child passengers were also injured, sustaining neck and back injuries. the vehicle was destroyed and was not inspected for the cause of the air bag failure. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was not contacted about the issue. the failure and current mileages were 128,000.

Tl* the contact owns a 2006 toyota sienna. the contact stated that the air bag warning light continuously illuminated in a blinking manner. the dealer was notified and requested that the contact bring the vehicle for diagnosis. the contact did not provide the vehicle for diagnosis. the vehicle was not repaired. the failure and current mileage was 78,000. ...updated 04/25/13 *bf updated 05/15/2013 *js

After leaving a balise toyota dealership to get 2 new tires, i was driving home and the srs indicator light started blinking. brought it back to be told it was defective and would cost about $1000.00 to fix. *tr

1) airbags: blinking airbag light. toyota service bulletin - $1200 repair. unsure of safety implications. 2) suspension, steering rack. leaking power steering fluid. needs replacement of entire rack. $1200 repair. 3) electrical: power sliding rear door will only function in manual mode. toyota customer service informs me of a customer support program for problem. dealer failed to tell me about it. $1400 for repair. dealer estimated trade in value for van: $6000. *tr

The airbag light on the dash intermittently flashes. *tr

My 2006 toyota sienna van has an srs light that intermittently comes on. i have seen no resolution from toyota. i understand that the srs is disabled when the light is on, thus a safety issue. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2006 toyota sienna. the contact stated that the air bag warning light illuminated on the instrument panel. the contact stated that she took the vehicle to the dealer for inspection and they stated that the air bag assembly needed to be replaced. the vehicle was repaired. the manufacturer was notified and they stated that the vehicle was out warranty. the failure mileage was 39,000.

Crack along outer edge of dashboard above instruments. likely to extend to passenger side. may eventually cause airbag deployment to malfunction. *tr

The airbag light is flashing at random interval both stationary or in motion. unplugging and plugging the connectors many times can sometimes solve the problem for a few days or weeks. the airbag lamp would come back. it's very unsafe for driving with whole family in the car. need a recall. this has happened for years since i owned the car 6 years ago.

After starting the engine and after being parked at our home overnight the airbag light came on and stayed on intermittently for no apparent reason. *tr

My sienna had a air bag code b0111 and flashing all the time. it might take over 3,000 dollars to fix that problem. plus, my family is not safe in my sienna. i do not know what to do. *tr

Yet another airbag /srs warning light fault to report on the sienna 2006. code detected is b0116. airbag wiring harness has to be replaced at a cost of $3000. this is not "wear and tear" it is clearly a manufacturing defect affecting thousands of this model of van. toyota must accept responsibility for this before there is a fatality caused by airbags not activating. *tr

While driving the car, i noted that the air bag warning light (man sitting with balloon) was on - do not exactly know at what mileage it started, but the mileage was 99,950 when i noted the light. have noted this to be a common problem on this vehicle (make, model, year) as there are many many complaints about this problem. will be contacting a local toyota dealer for diagnosis and repair, but am afraid i may have to pay a lot of money for this repair after i research this problem in detail. *tr

The front driver airbag light showed up on the dashboard and began to blink about 2 weeks ago. took the van into a toyota dealer to have it checked out. sensors need to be replaced for $700! after researching on the internet, it appears that the 2006 toyota sienna's has had numerous complaints for the airbag defects. i'm thinking toyota needs to be responsible for this safety defect and issue a recall for the airbags to be repaired/replaced. many consumers are driving the 2006 sienna's with faulty airbags since it is too expensive to fix which is a safety issue that someone needs to be concerned about and address with toyota!

Air bag light turned on at 78,080 miles. took it to dealer and was told the passenger side air bag and floor harness needed replacement. repair was quoted at around $1500.00. after discussions with dealer and trying to get an explanation as to why an air bag would need replacement with just normal operation of the vehicle, my dealer was able to get the parts covered by toyota and i paid for labor $861.00. in january 2013, the air bag light turned on again at 84,132 miles. took it to the dealer and was told the driver side air bag needed replacement and the harness could be fixed. my dealership offered me the same deal as toyota would pay for the parts and me the labor $796.00. i had my car fixed because i did not want to compromise my and my family safety but had every intention by then to file a complaint with toyota which i did on january 24, 2013. i told them i should not be responsible for any of the costs of the repairs; faulty air bags should be the responsibility of the manufacturer. i also told them i did not understand why there was no recall on those air bags after everything i read online. toyota researched my case, talked with my dealership and after 3-4 conversations in about 1 week period, my claim was denied. they took no responsibility, reminded me that they had already provided the parts (because i was a good customer at my dealership) and offered me $500.00 towards my next car purchase should i be in the market for a new car in the next one to two years! funny!! as there will never be another toyota in my driveway. *tr

My wife and i got into our van on the 19 of may and when we started the van the airbag light came on. when i took it to the toyota garage i was told i would need a new passenger airbag and two wiring harnesses for the van at a cost of $1200. i felt this was a safety defect from toyota and have contacted toyota customer relations on several occasions to remedy the problem. as of yet it has not been resolved and is under review according to the last email i received from them. i have seen numerous complaints on the web about this same airbag issue and i as well as other customers feels that this is a defect that toyota should fix before people are killed due to faulty airbags. *tr

The driver side airbag light has turned on. *js

Tl* the contact owns a 2006 toyota sienna. the contact stated that the air bag warning lamp illuminated. the vehicle was taken to the dealer, who diagnosed that the air bag system shorted out and needed to be replaced. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure and would get back in touch with the contact at a later date. the vehicle was not repaired. the failure and current mileages were 76,926.

Tl* the contact owns a 2006 toyota sienna. while parked, the air bag warning light illuminated on the instrument panel. the vehicle was taken to the dealer for diagnostic. the technician stated the air bag and air bag harness on the front passenger side would have to be replaced but the part was not available for repair. the vehicle was not repaired. the approximate failure mileage was 59,500.

The air bag light warning of my 2006 sienna (only 45,000 miles) started blinking and didn't stop. according to dealer who run a diagnostic (open circuit b0111 open squib) the circuit wiring harness needed to be replaced. total cost over $2,000. i used my insurance and had it fixed. the car stayed in the dealer for a whole month since according to them the part was being ordered directly from toyota and it was coming from japan. the problem recurred the very next day after i took the car from the dealer after fixed. took it back to the dealer and was informed that according to toyota service bulletin a kit needs to be installed at the harness located under the front passenger seat and that the front passenger air bag needs to be replaced. the total cost will be another $1,000. i was advised to contact toyota customer service to learn what toyota could do since this is a safety issue caused by a faulty electrical component from manufacturing. i don't believe my insurance will cover for this extra cost. checking online i noticed that hundreds of other 2006 siennas are having the same issue. i believe toyota should issue a recall on this particular model and fix it. i was a happy and satisfied toyota customer until now and depending on the outcome of my call to toyota i might not consider toyota in my next car purchase, unfortunately. *tr

Pulled code b0111 open side squib (rh) circuit must replace passenger side floor harness and passenger side air bag assembly. *tr

Airbag light indicator in the dash started blinking until now. from what i have read, some airbags may not deploy in the event of an accident due to this, thus, a safety issue. i have read in the forums that this is a common problem for the type/model of my minivan. my minivan is already out of the warranty and personally think that there should be a recall for this issue. if fear for the safety of my family whenever we use this minivan. *tr

2006 toyota sienna. consumer writes in regards to repair cost concerning air bag and seat belt issues *tgw the consumer stated the air bag light illuminated. the vehicle was taken to the dealer for an inspection. the service advisor, informed the consumer it would cost $ 3,985 to repair the air bag issue, but stated it was a seat belt issue that required a floor wiring harness which needed to be replaced.

Tl* the contact owns a 2006 toyota sienna. the contact was driving 45 to 50 mph when the air bag srs warning light illuminated repeatedly. the vehicle was taken to the dealer. the dealer stated that the squid module and harness for passenger air bags needed to be replaced. the manufacturer was notified. the vehicle was not repaired. the failure and current mileages were 44,000. the vin was unknown.

Sienna 200-2006 has three major problems: 1) the door check mount cracks (so as for the welded parts inside the door to crack from each other by itself). 2) from time to time the airbag light keep blinking, and upon investigation, there is a problem with the airbag socket that can disconnect anytime upon changing the position of the driver seat. 3) the paint of the body fades fast (as for a 6 years old garage kept car the paint to fade, is something unique). *tr

The srs light started blinking "on" when driving approximately 65 mph. the light remained blinking for a few days then the blinking stopped. the blinking began again after a week. i took the vehicle in to a toyota dealer who diagnosed the problem. they said that toyota has a bulletin out on it: tsb-0162-10 "srs light "on" - b0111/b0116 - open side squib circuit the repair at the dealer was quoted at $3682.22. i felt this was unreasonable that toyota knew about this safety issue and others have had the same problem but it was not deemed a "recall". i contacted toyota customer service at 1-800-331-4331 and spoke with a representative. i voiced my concern and they made a case number: 1203051801. they admitted that there was a bulletin out on the issue but that it was not a recall. i was very upset because we did not cause this defect and it puts our family of 5 at great risk! we cannot afford to have this defect fixed at this time and feel that toyota should own up to this problem that is affecting many and putting family's at great risk! we purchased the van new with working air bags - they have never be deployed, and we have never done anything to access or modify their workability so this should not be our problem. highway safety requires air bags in all vehicles and should hold toyota accountable for this defect. *jb

I recently had my airbag light flashing on my dash and the dealership said both rh and lh air bag wiring harnesses with sensors will need to be replaced. the cost to fix $5335. i recently had my power sliding door go out. the door opened but would not close. the cost to fix $1800. *tr

Air bag indicator light came on indicating a failure in the driver's side air bag. the air bags will not deploy in the event of a crash due to a faulty wire harness as explained the toyota dealer service department. this is a known problem with sienna minivans, for which a toyota service bulletin has been issued, but there has not been a model recall. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2006 toyota sienna. the contact stated that whenever starting the ignition, the air bag warning indicator remained illuminated until the engine was turned off. the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic for diagnosis and they detected a problem with the air bag. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was not notified of the problem. the failure mileage was unavailable.

Tl* the contact owns a 2006 toyota sienna. the contact stated that the air bag warning light would illuminate on the instrument panel. the dealer and manufacturer were notified, but denied any assistance with repairs to the vehicle. the vehicle was not repaired. the failure mileage was 38,202 and the current mileage was 38,212.

Our toyota sienna 2006 airbag light had been going on and off on the instrument panel. took it to the toyota dealership, they insist they have never heard of this problem. there are multiple complaints on the internet for this model and year. not to mention other models being recalled for the same problem.. they are not diagnosing the cause but trying to replace the entire system.(wiring harness, sensors and airbags) i believe an investigation as to the faulty component or components are in order. are the replacement parts they are wanting to use the same as they faulty ones. are any of they airbag components in the sienna the same as the toyota highlander. (sensors chips, wiring harness). the dealership says they are using the same components that were originally were installed. have read multiple forum complaints of people on there second or third total replacement of the entire airbag system. the dealership said it could take one to two months to get the parts because of national shortage. again a shortage, are too many siennas have the same problem, or are the components that are faulty similar to the highlander and are being used in that recall. *tr

The air bag warning light came on. i took the vehicle into the dealership to have it looked at. the result was that the wiring harness for the seat sensor on the passenger side has corroded creating an open circuit. they gave me an estimate to replace the wiring harness and air bag (which has been apparently damaged due to the corroded harness) to a total of $3,000. wiring harnesses do not corrode in 5 years unless the part was defective at installation. since the srs system is a major part of the vehicle's safety systems and the system was designed to operate as a whole, repair is mandatory in order to insure occupant safety. searching the internet there are literally 100s of instances of the exact same issue with the 2006 and 2007 model years. the fact that this issue is a fault in the vehicles safety system and the high incident of this failure occurring i believe justifies a recall for repair of the system by the manufacturer. *tr

Started vehicle and air bag warning light began flashing. looked online and found hundreds of other 2006 sienna owners have same problem. *tr

Airbag warning light appeared on dashboard suddenly. dealership ran diagnostics and said that a loose connection below the car seat could be the reason, as that fixed the warning light issue. car's extended warranty expires in about 8months, and reading the most complaints on this mini-van being airbag issue, i am worried that the actual error (requiring replacement of the whole system $2k-$3k+ that others are paying) would appear right after my warranty expires. toyota should really consider this as a re-call, or, extend the warranty of the airbag systems to 10yrs (regardless of mileage) to provide the security to 2006 sienna owners. *tr

Passenger side air bag light is on. and the bulletin code is dtcb0111. *tr

Purchased vehicle used in august 2011 with approximately 52,000 miles. upon starting vehicle in late december 2011 (approximately 56,000), air bag warning light began to blink. the next day, the light did not blink and appeared unlit (normal). the third day, the light began to blink again and has not stopped. there was no unusual bumping or impact that could have caused the light to illuminate. i took the vehicle to the dealer for diagnosis. dealer told me that the airbag wires had been "tampered with" - apparently by the previous owner (vehicle has prior salvage title, but has been repaired, inspected, and approved for service again). the deal quoted $2,500 - $3,000 to replace faulty wiring harness. i declined the service in the immediate, to consider the safety and cost repercussions. although i declined service, the air bag light ceased blinking - even though the vehicle was not repaired. additional research has revealed hundreds, if not thousands of 2006 toyota sienna owners who have had a nearly identical experience. there are tsbs related to this issue. a recall seems necessary for this important safety issue related to an apparent faulty air bag wiring system. *tr

Air bag light on instrument panel flashes on and off. the vehicle was taken to a local mechanic who diagnosed a defective air bag sensor, which needs to be replaced along with the air bag and airbag harness under the driver's seat since the air bag would not deploy in the event of a crash, which could result in serious injury or death. vehicle has only 47000miles on it but since it is over 5years it is not covered under warranty. this malfunction is not the result of any accident or bump, it started on its own. this issue has been reported on numerous vehicles and for no apparent reason. this is a serious defect in the srs and a critical safety issue. it is in fact a clear violation of basic federal safety standards that should be taken care by toyota. *tr

My 2006 toyota sienna had to have 3 airbag components replaced in the first 17 months because of failure of the sensor, ecu and airbag assembly. these were replaced under warranty. now that the car is 5 years and 1 month old the other front airbag assembly malfunctioned and toyota has refused to pay to repair it. the warranty was for 5 years and 50,000 miles. i now have no functioning airbags because when 1 airbag does not work the computer turns all of them off. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2006 toyota sienna. the contact stated that the air bag warning lamp illuminated. the vehicle was taken to the dealer who diagnosed that the air bag wiring harness was defective and needed to be replaced. the manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. the vehicle was not repaired. the failure mileage was 126,000 and the current mileage was 149,000. updated 10/11/12*lj the consumer was informed the vehicle needed a main harness and driver seat air bag harness. he was given a price of $ 3,169.00 to fix the problem. the dealer informed the consumer the parts were on back order. also, the alloy wheels alloy wheels were corroded. toyota informed the consumer, he must have washed the wheels with the wrong soap or too much winter salt on the roads caused the problem.

Flashing airbag light. dealer says right airbag wire harness need to be replaced. quoting $3500 for repairs. warranty expired 4 months ago! *tr

Air bag light on instrument panel flashes on and off; took it to the dealer, which determined was a defective air bag sensor, which needs to be replaced along with the air bag and airbag harness under the driver's seat. total estimate for the pair including labor: $3000. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2006 toyota sienna. the contact stated that the air bag warning lamp illuminated. the vehicle was taken to a local mechanic who diagnosed that there was a short on the side air bag assembly and wiring harness. as a result, both components needed to be replaced. the manufacturer was not made aware of the failure and the vehicle was not repaired. the failure and the current mileage was 73,000. updated 02/09/12*lj the consumer's mechanic found the following: the srs light was on code bo116 open side squib lh circuit. updated 02/1312

We continue to have issues with the air bag sensor. i take it to the dealer and they reset. it is off for a while and then it appears again. this has been an on going issues since 12/2011 when i purchased this vehicle. no recall has been done. i fear that if they just continue to reset that a real issue may be missed. *tr

The air bag light flashes all the time. i take it in and fix it every time i get maintenance done. they open the circuit in the right side squib circuit and adjust the pin fit connection on wire harness. costs $60.00 to fix. it has been happening for years! i need to find someone that can tell me how to fix this myself! it stays off for about a day or two, sometimes a month or two. then it starts blinking again. *tr
