Recently reported POWER TRAIN problems on 2014 Jeep Cherokee

2014 jeep cherokee. consumer writes in regards to transmission problems. *smd the consumer stated on october 7, 2014 as she pulled out onto the highway, the vehicle stalled. she managed to drift to the side of the road. she let the vehicle sit for a minute and then re-started it. she bean to drive and the vehicle began to buck and lost power. she pulled over for a second time and let it sit for a minute, attempted to re-start it which was successful, but she couldn't go over 25 mph. she drove to the dealer. the dealer kept the vehicle for a week. a diagnostic test revealed a problem with the transmission. one month later, as she was pulling out onto the main road, the vehicle lost power again. she managed to get the vehicle to the dealer. a diagnostics test revealed the vehicle shut off, due to low oil. the consumer claimed the vehicle wasn't scheduled for an oil changed for another 1,000 miles. the dealer advised the consumer to bring the vehicle back within 3,000 to see if the vehicle was burning oil. *jb

After 1000 miles of driving this vehicle the transmission did not shift from park to park to reverse one two occasions. during this time after every time . i decelerated with out applying pressure to the gas pedal the vehicle would accelerate on its own when automatically shifting from 5 gear to 4 gear and increase 1000 rpms and about 3 mph before shifting to 4 gear and finally decelerating. *tr

At freeway speed of 65, the vehicle suddenly had no power, went into neutral, and "service transmission" warning came on. upon trying to accelerate to pull to the shoulder, the engine would simply rev rpms but provided no power, even after trying to shift between neutral and drive. after getting to the side of the road, the vehicle was shut off and turned back on, at which time the service transmission light was still on, but the vehicle worked again. the dealer replaced the entire transmission under warranty but provided no explanation of why it suddenly lost all power on the freeway and could have easily caused a wreck when trying to get over several lanes on a busy freeway. *tr

The vehicle fails to accelerate properly from slow speeds this has been an ongoing problem since a recall ( ro1 ) was performed on the transmission multiple attempts by dealers to improve this condition have failed i am told that this is the way flat/chrysler has decided to make these transmission work ,in order to prevent failure due to a design flaw the current software no longer allows the transmission to downshift below third gear unless the vehicle is completely stopped therefore if driving conditions require you to slow down ( to as slow as 1 mph ) and then you need to accelerate the transmission remains in the third gear and provides little to no response if you floor it , the transmission will sometimes eventually slam into first gear but only after struggling its hardest to accelerate third gear which involves the torque converter allowing the engine to rev , so that the resulting shift into first gear is extremely rough and often accompanied by wheel spin the transmission will no longer ever under any circumstances downshift into second gear the hard jolts and wheel spin of 3-1 shift are somewhat dangerous but when the transmission completely refuses to downshift and simply leaves you vulnerable to approaching vehicles ,pulling into traffic, entering roundabout or changing lanes from a slower lane to a faster one or even just merging is always stressful not knowing if vehicle will respond to accelerating properly or downshift properly

Hard shifts, odd shift points, hesitates and lurches into gear

Tl* the contact owns a 2014 jeep cherokee. the contact stated that when shifting gears, the vehicle jerked forward without warning. the contact also stated that while driving at various speeds, the wheels of the vehicle wobbled. the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the failure mileage was 3,000.

On numerous occasions when slowing down bu not a complete stop, jeep does not downshift lower than 3rd gear unless. on several occasions jeep inches forward at a slow rate and suddenly when accelerator is depressed further it shifts hard and accelerates rapidly. safety is in jeopardy when pulling into traffic on right turns. unless vehicle is at a complete stop it will not downshift lower than 3rd gear. this results in less power when pulling into traffic. jeep has updated software 3 times. condition has not changed.

Transmission shifts erratically. when stopping and starting at a stop sign, transmission may not engage, then engages with a hard bang into gear. other times when slowing down and then trying to accelerate, transmission may not engage quickly enough. transmission is dangerous as one does not know if the transmission will engage when needed, especially when needed to get out of the way of other vehicles. car has been into jeep dealership 4 times, opened a case with jeep, told this is normal operation for the transmission. the transmission is getting worse and dangerous as you do not know how it will react.

The transmission continues to accelerate while the brakes are being applied. these problems are the worst between going from 3rd to 2nd and 2nd to 1st gears. the jeep accelerates while slowing down when ample pressure is applied to the brakes. had to swerve off the road onto the shoulder to avoid an accident due to the brakes not acting timely and the vehicle still accelerating due to the transmission. the brand new vehicle has been taken to chrysler two times for this problem and they can't 'duplicate' the problem. was informed 'the transmission is a learning transmission and will adjust to the driver and to wait until first oil change at 3000 miles to see if the problem persist". the problem is still very present and even worsening. now, with only 1800 miles on vehicle the turn signals are not working properly. the right turn signal sticks, stays on or randomly turns on. while the left turn signal is not working at all. while driving my brand new vehicle (not even two months old) having to use hand signals to communicate when turning left. furthermore constantly turn right blinker off. less then two months old the vehicle will now go in for it's third repair. this vehicle is very unsafe!! *tr

While driving in light to moderate traffic as well as stop and go traffic, vehicle would routinely surge forward immediately after slowing and or break when foot was removed from brake pedal. cruise control had not been used or engaged at anytime. *tr

I had multiple cases of the car not moving in the morning (engine is fine). it felt as if a clutch was slipping. the first 2 times the dealer couldn't reproduce the problem. the 3rd time he reproduced the problem - and replaced the transmission valve-body and performed adaptive learning. this took nearly 2 weeks. a week later - the transmission failed near the summit of mt. washington nh. my wife was driving and she felt that the car had no power - the gear was in manual, 1st gear. i turned the car back down and started descending. there seemed to be no engine braking and the brakes started to smoke and loose grip. i had to stop numerous times to let the brakes cool. the car is back at the dealers. they have been able to reproduce the problem - chrysler advised them to put grease on a connector and drive the car a bit. if the problem doesn't repeat - they want to return the car to me as is. chrysler's incompetence will get someone killed - this could happen crossing a railway. turning left at a traffic light, or going down a long descent. *tr

At highway speeds, vehicle would routinely become locked into a single gear and fail to shift beyond that point until the vehicle was turned off and then restarted. upon restart vehicle would travel approx 10-15 miles before vehicle would again not shift and have to be turned off and restarted. this cycle repeated numerous times and on subsequent days. *tr

When driving at highway speeds (68 mph) and slowing down, the gears on the 2014 jeep cherokee downshifted, resulting in an increase in speed, despite pressure being applied to the brakes. this occurs with the automatic transmission when braking change gears from 4th to 5th gear. the shift into 4th gear is followed immediately by a 500+ rpm increase in the engine. if heavy, consistent pressure is not applied to the brake, the car will accelerate 1-2 mph. if heavy, consistent pressure is applied to the brake, the car shifts violently and the car "lurches" forward due to the increase in rpm. *tr

Purchased a certified pre-owned jeep cherokee from local chrysler dealership with 11,000 miles. on second day of driving, noticed that as the car shifts from second to third gear (usually around 17mph the entire car jolts / surges forward. at times when this happens, i have actually thought i have been bumped into by the car behind me, only to quickly determine it is the transmission. i have had the vehicle into service 3 times. first time, re-flashed transmission control module. second time, transmission control module failed to accept programming and so was replaced. third time, they re-flashed the control module again and said there was nothing more they could do to resolve the issue until chrysler provides further direction. this is not only a nuisance, but a safety concern. it distracts the driver from focusing on the road and every time i accelerate from a stop i am reminded there is something not right with this vehicle - but with apparently nothing the dealership can do to fix it. i am requesting that chrysler either provide a fix for the problem, or repurchase the car back from me. *tr

This jeep still intermittently experiences the sensation of wheel wobble when shifting between 1st & 2nd gear. the dealer is saying vehicle performs as intended. ?? i experience this periodically while driving but not every time. this is troublesome & worries me every day while driving this vehicle. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2014 jeep cherokee. while the vehicle was parked and started, the engine idled up and down and caused the rpms to increase and decrease. during the failure, the check engine and transmission sensors illuminated. the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. the manufacturer was not notified. the failure mileage was 2,200.

I took delivery of my new 2014 jeep cherokee on september 16, 2014. right from the start i started having transmission issues. chrysler jeep said that they were going to open a "case file" on the car and to return the car to the service manager at the dealership. i took the car into the dealership, and explained what the representative had told me. the service manager said that there was no "case file" opened on my vehicle and that nobody from chrysler jeep had contacted them. a couple weeks later i received a call from chrysler jeep saying that the case file was "closed" because "i failed to take the car in to the dealership". last tuesday (february 3rd) after a really bad snowstorm i was driving home when the person in the lane next to me began sliding into my lane. i began applying brake but it was obvious that i needed to apply power to get ahead of her. when i came off the brake and applied heavy power there was nothing there. the engine revved up but the car didn't go anywhere. then the vehicle dropped into gear and lurched really bad, and the back end of the car started to spin around on me. all of the sudden the front tires started digging in and whipped me straight. i was totally out of control and it seemed like the transmission had a mind of its own. luckily i didn't hit anything but did end up in a parking lot. after sitting for a second (and the person who almost struck me stopped to see if i was ok), i put the car back in gear and drove back out onto the street and immediately a "4-wheel drive not available" error message came on. this car is dangerous. chrysler jeep has shown only superficial interest in fixing the problem. it shouldn't be driven on snowy roads. i hope that someone with the authority to do something can address this major issue before people start getting killed. this is beyond a "lemon" issue. *tr updated 4/12/16 *js

While traveling at normal speed in snow mode. the car started to shake a little and was making grinding noises. i drove about ten miles to my host and made an appointment. when i drove the jeep to the dealer the problem got do bad i thought it was going to break down. i dropped it off and later found out it was the power transfer unit. the part is on back order and i am told i won't get my jeep back for three weeks. i have only had it for two weeks. *tr

I was driving on a low traffic road going approximately 30 mph when the parking brake error warning light appeared on the dash hud and the gear selector d was flashing. another warning appeared in the hud that stated "service transmission", as well as the check engine light and stability control warning light. as this began i was on a slight incline and began drifting backward, leading me to believe the engine had died but i could still hear it was on so i applied more pressure to the gas pedal but couldn't move forward. i turned the engine off and as i turned the car back on, another warning appeared stating that i should put it in park before attempting to shift (i was in park at the time) so i went ahead and shifted to drive but the entire car jerked and made a very loud thud that sounded as if i was shifting into another gear while flooring the gas pedal. when i finally was able to go forward, i could barely move even though i was applying full throttle and the rpms were redlined. i couldn't go any faster than 15 mph for the remainder of my trip (i only had a mile to go since i was almost home) and the rpms stayed redlined for about half that time but i was never able to accelerate over that 15 mph for the duration of the trip. when i got to my driveway, i put it in park again and opened the hood and the engine was idling much louder than usual. *tr

The transmission does not always change gears immediately when going from high speed (70) to a lower speed (45). it stays in the higher gear and then will jerk into the lower gear. i have been to the dealership where the vehicle was purchased several times, but i keep being advised that there is not a problem. believe me, there is a problem. i also had the car for 2 weeks and had to have both front tie rods replaced. would not recommend a jeep cherokee to anyone. *tr

Similar to what occurred with the other posts, on saturday my car stalled while at a stop sign. disabled, the engine light and the service transmission indicator came on the dashboard. following the advice of some helpful gentlemen, i was able to get the car home. on sunday, i took the car to the dealer and the diagnostic test reportedly stated it was the transmission and then a subsequent call identified the issue as an electrical issue. i picked the repaired car up as directed and then the car stalled. i was almost rear-ended as the car was disabled with the hazard lights. i managed to coast the car into a parking lot by using the advice of the gentlemen and then called the dealer, this is the second time the car abruptly stalled. this time it would not start for me to pull into a parking space. i was asked to drive the car back to the dealer, i refused. after speaking to the general manager of sales, the dealer sent two people to bring the car back and the person driving my car stated it stalled twice but he knew how to get the car going. monday i missed worked, tuesday they provided a rental, today i picked up the car, and tonight i am in a dealer's rental that will need to be exchanged for another rental tomorrow. this has been a taxing experience that is not expected for a car that was purchased new at the end of april. this is my second jeep but from what i am reading, there is something wrong with this car that needs immediate attention. *tr

We leased this car in 3/14 with the thought of problem free driving. the first week we felt as though the car was hopping when shifting. then the steering wheel would squeak when you turned it (found that odd). took it back to dealer they did a flash change but did not road test it. they said we need struts and they are on back order till who knows when. so now we set here afraid to drive it but still have to make payments. i am a 68 year old women who does not want to drive a year old car. oh btw the car still does hop when it shifts. can anyone point me in the right direction to turn this car in? *tr

5 recalls since i bought it brand new september 2014 . when you step on the gas, car sometimes won't move then jerks into motion & other times it starts off in 3rd gear. soon after purchase, noticed extreme condensation inside windows. back right floor board was soaked with water? & condensation under the right front seat. dealership can't figure it out. most recently ,radio display not working properly. noticed getting shocked when opening the door. rear hatch sometimes won't open the the power lift button is pushed

I was driving on the expressway doing 60mph. i merged into left lane and began to accelerate to speed limit. reached 65mph and transmission stalled and threw my vehicle into neutral. i had to pull over onto the shoulder to turn off vehicle and restart. check engine light remained on as well as message to check transmission. after returning it to the dealership twice, the same thing happened again on 9/22/14 with mileage at 1195. *tr

We purchased this vehicle new, with 4,658 miles on it and within the first day, we noticed the extremely rough shifting between 2nd 4th gears. after several pcm reprograms and a new transmission, it is still doing the rough shifting and continues to worsen. in heavy traffic, the accelerator is inconsistent, sluggishly moving forward on one occasion and lunging forward as if the gas pedal was mashed to the floor on the next. same can be said for braking; rough down shifting and often times feeling as though the vehicle is still trying to accelerate as if the gas pedal is still pressed even though the brake is being applied. in another incident, i started the vehicle, with my foot on the brake shifted it to drive, then began to release the pressure from the brake to inch forward, when it suddenly lurched forward nearly striking my parents. additionally, the vehicle now seems to be driving itself. when entering my neighborhood doing approximately 25mph, upon letting up on the gas completely, the vehicle maintains the rpms and speed on a flat surface as if the cruise control is on. we have filed for the md lemon law with chrysler, but after a test drive with one of the their reps where the car was not as violent in the shifting but still quite rough, the rep declared the vehicle as 'performing as designed' and its the adaptive learning of the vehicle and closed the case.this vehicle is completely unpredictable and inconsistent, and quite frankly, unsafe and nerve racking to drive. my wife will not drive nor ride in it any longer for fear of an accident, nor will she allow our son to ride in it. in my 28 years of driving, i have never owned nor driven a vehicle that actually made me feel unsafe in. as i stated to the rep on the test drive: with this vehicle, it's not a matter of if this thing gets in an accident, but rather when! *tr

The vehicle wobbles and shakes due to a jerky movement when it shift to 2nd gear. it drives with jerk all throughout 2nd gear till it changes into 3rd gear. at first i thought the vehicle was new and i should wait for break in but the same still continues and my odometer reads 1900. i feel like it is something to do with the clutch plates for 2nd gear. *tr

From a stop the 2014 jeep cherokee 3.2vvt v6 4x4 often creates a wobble feel while shifting through lower gears. the jeep's wobble isn't felt through the steering wheel but the passengers can feel the wobble and also the driver can feel in in the gas pedal upon acceleration. upon deceleration the transmission makes a hard clunk feel when nearing a complete stop. the vehicle does not feel safe to drive as it feel the vehicle will leave you stranded. *latest updates were applied by the dodge dealer with no change in drive ability. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2014 jeep cherokee. while driving at various speeds, the vehicle erroneously shifted into neutral or shifted out of gear and failed to accelerate. the vehicle was taken to the dealer who diagnosed that the transmission computer chip was faulty. the computer chip was reprogrammed but the vehicle continued to experience the failure. the vehicle was taken to the dealer multiple times due to the failure. also, the contact indicated that the rear passenger side seat belts would erroneously unlatch while the vehicle was in motion. the cause of the failure was not diagnosed. the manufacturer was not notified of the failures. the failure mileage was 15,000.

Tl* the contact owns a 2014 jeep cherokee. the contact stated that while at a stop, the accelerator pedal was depressed and the vehicle hesitated to respond before suddenly surging forward. the contact also stated that the vehicle would not operate in reverse or drive. the vehicle was restarted but failed to accelerate over 5 mph. the vehicle was towed to the dealer, who diagnosed that the entire transmission needed to be replaced. the vehicle was not repaired. in addition, while operating the vehicle in the rain the windshield defroster was turned on but the fog on the windshield would not evaporate. the contact attempted to wipe the windshield using a cloth on both the inside and the outside of the vehicle but the fog could not be removed. the failure was not diagnose or repaired. the manufacturer was not notified of the failure. the failure mileage was 40.

Vehicle surges ahead when stopped, or hesitates on acceloration and sometimes slips out of gear when accelorating. these problems have happened since i purchased the car and so far there have been 3 software upgrades that aren't helping

My car will shift hard in reverse, sometimes into drive, and also from 1st gear into 2nd gear. also, when turning, and trying to accelerate, i notice the car feels like it is in slow motion and does not accelerate, even if i am stepping hard on the pedal. i have also noticed that the car will not shift into higher gears when climbing in elevation. many times i have been driving up in elevation, and will be stuck in 4th gear unable to shift to a higher gear. the problem all seems to revolve around this new 9 speed transmission. i have taken to the dealership, and they have checked the computer to find nothing. i am updated on all of my recalls. i was told next time, "i should buy a v6" by the dealership.

Vehicle died and transmission light came on, also will start off slow and rpm's will go all the way over to 5rpms, vehicle does not accelerate. sometimes you will have your accelerate with the pedal all the way down and vehicle is going slow. if you stop and need to start going again, vehicle will amp up but will not go, have almost got hit several times due to this happening. this is a huge safety issue. i have contacted chrysler cair and they don't seem to be much help after second opinion of vehicle. air conditioning flow volume decreases at highway speeds. air flow drops from 5.7 to 4.4 and warm air will circulate after only driving vehicle 10 minutes. have taken to two different dealerships and vehicle still continues to have same issues.

I bought this 2014 jeep cherokee sport in august 2014. it had approx. 300 miles on it. noticed a strong "shimmy" in the jeep after it shifts to 2nd gear. the shimmy goes away after increased speed. took it to the dealer and the tech drove it and noticed the shimmy also. he checked for any sbs. chrysler said to replace the front half-shafts. this was done 2 weeks later. the shimmy was still there when i picked it up. the tech said there was a "break in period" of 3000 mi and it would go away. there is no such thing as a break in period for this part. the vehicle has had 3 software upgrades on the tranny to ease harsh shifting. this works for about 1 month and then back to harsh shifting. the shifting gets better as the vehicle warms up but the shimmy is there no matter what temp. talked to the service manager at the dealer and he rode in it today (1/21/14) and noticed the shimmy. we then drove another 2014 jeep cherokee, it did not have a shimmy he said he would reopen the star case with chrysler to try to resolve the issue..this is a $30,000 vehicle with 2000 miles. it should not be doing this, and i am sick of hearing "this is normal" from service techs when they have no clue why it is doing this. when it goes back in this time, this will number 3. if it is not repaired correctly and the shimmy and trans. issues are still there, chrysler will buying it back per lemon law. *tr

Vehicle has rough shifting on acceleration very jerky does not downshift after stopping , dealer reflashed programming , vehicle returned to dealer on recall for transmission reflashed again tranny then replaced new tranny started having same problem, wire replaced to transmission, transmission now having same issue not shifting properly down shift erratic, intermittent lack of power on acceleration due to transmission not downshifting

Ordered car through brown motors, located in petoskey mi. salesman has been conducting business with the family for many years. car replaced vehicle affected in a major flood, aug. 12, 2014. picked up car from vehicle courier at a location offsite of the dealership. while driving on the expressway few miles and coming to a stop due to traffic, i noticed that the front end on the passenger side made a very noticeable wobbling motion between 5 and 20 mph. vehicle has repeated the wobbling sporadically at the same speed upon acceleration and occasionally when coming to a stop. took the vehicle in and had two recalls performed. one for the side curtain airbag and another for the transmission module. the transmission module adjustment did nothing to amend the front end wobble. also, on occasion when accelerating to pass another vehicle, the engine revs up to almost the red line on the tachometer before the transmission shifts and the car actually increases in speed. luckily i have never experienced this on a two lane road while passing another vehicle. other than that the vehicle performance has been adequate.

Tl* the contact owns a 2014 jeep cherokee. the contact stated that while driving at 45 mph, the vehicle downshifted while the accelerator pedal was depressed without warning. the vehicle was taken to be diagnosed. the contact was informed that the transmission needed to be replaced. the vehicle was repaired however, the failure recurred. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 44,000.

Car stalled 6x with my 4 and 5 year olds in the vehicle. smoke billows out of back of car. ignition coil, spark plugs, filter and oil replaced. 9/2/14 car shifting incorrectly. computer system reset due to transmission issues. customer told to bring back after drives 500 miles for oil consumption test. 9/29/14 oil consumption test failed. pvc intake valve replaced. dealer to drive car 250 miles and test oil consumption again. as of 10/3, no resolution. customer has requested replacement from manufacturer. not approved as of yet. *tr

I was backing my jeep into my yard with a utility trailer attached. i heard a noise and i pushed the gear shift up into park and opened my door to step out of the vehicle and make sure i had not hit something. as i stepped out the vehicle started moving backwards and the driver door struck me knocking me to the ground on my back. the left front tire rolled over my pelvic area causing serious injury. vehicle crashed into a fence and jack knifed the trailer. complained to chrysler and they had the vehicle inspected and i received a letter saying they could find no defect. since then i have had another incident where when i shift from reverse to park it does not engage and slips back into reverse. fortunately i am more careful and know to double check the shifting mechanism. does not do it all of the time. may be related to towing. others who have a late model chrysler vehicle with this type of transmission and shifting mechanism need to be aware of this problem and need to be sure the vehicle goes into park when shifted and does not slip out once foot is off of the brake. *tr

Vehicle was having severe issues shifting gears. transmission warning light came on, less than a mile later the malfunction indicator light came on. vehicle then lost 4wd capability. vehicle seemed to stall out and max out at 20 mph. car stopped a few blocks from my house while in a turning lane. turned the car off and turned it back on, was able to barely make it home. luckily, it was late night and no traffic. could've cause a big accident. the vehicle sits here at the house right now because it will not run. calling the dealership when they open tomorrow to try and find a resolution. *tr

While increasing vehicle to highway speed and attempting to merge onto the freeway at a safe 'highway speed' the vehicle suddenly "popped" into neutral. i placed the vehicle into neutral manually then, back into a drive gear to continue. most common occurences with this vehicle are that, it will not 'upshift' properly and, it will hold on to the lower gear far too long before shifting to the next gear. this problem also prevents this vehicle from doing "any kind of coasting", i always have to have my foot on the gas to make the vehicle go forward, even on a gentle downhill incline. some (most) of the time the transmission will not shift unless the engine revs to about 5,000 rpm. this vehicle has yet to reach it's epa est mileage of 27 mpg, highway or street. my average mpg is 13 mpg even though i am a conservative driver. i purchased this vehicle brand new for my daughter who has yet to drive it consistently do to it's safety issues. the 'check engine light' has been on due to the transmission problems and the dealer has had the vehicle for 50% of the time since i purchased this vehicle. i have yet to see this vehicle go into the 8th or, 9th gear. this vehicle had 229 miles when it was returned to the dealer for service after owning it for 10 days. i purchased it on 8/22/14. *tr

I was driving with my two young children through town. we were turning left on a busy city street when my vehicle would not accelerate and was only able to creep through the intersection at less than 5 mph. we were nearly t-boned on the side where my 4 yr old child was seated. the service transmission message light came on and car became inoperable! it had to be towed to the dealership. dealership had to completely replace transmission. they outright lied and denied any knowledge of transmission issues with this vehicle. in conjunction, they could and did not answer any questions regarding the new transmission and if it was any different than the one that failed. to top it off my car was returned to me with several new scratches, an extra part left under the hood, and a broken hood latch. i drove the vehicle home on a highway in this condition and thank goodness the hood did not fly open. this issue with the transmission is deadly! someone will be seriously hurt or killed because of this defect! please do not purchase this car. *tr

Driving at 70 miles per hour, vehicle suddenly stop accelerate, all lights came on dash, read service transmission. *tr

When slowing down from any speed foot off gas pedal vehicle suddenly accelerates. happens at various speeds. even put transmission in neutral coming to stop and it still accelerates on its own. at every stop and corner just takes off. yesterday almost hit the car in front of me. i was stopped and the jeep decided to accelerate. had it at dealer on 9/12/14 for service. jeep did tranny update but did nothing. head of service department said i just needed to drive it to work itself out. i thought he was joking but he was actually serious! going to take jeep back to dealer before it kills me ( not joking).getting worse all the time. *tr

When you step on the accelerator from 0mph the car stutters and shakes for a few mph until you get to about 15-20mph and then it drives like normal. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2014 jeep cherokee. the contact stated that the transmission failed to shift properly and there was constant unintended acceleration when the gears changed. while changing gears to pull into the driveway, the vehicle surged forward into the garage without warning. the contact applied the brake pedal with force when the failure occurred. the vehicle was taken to the dealer more than five times, but they were unable to replicate and diagnose the failure. the vehicle was not repaired. the failure continued at random. the manufacturer was not notified. the failure mileage was not available.

I went to shift vehicle into drive, vehicle would not shift into any gear. turned the vehicle on and off three times, on the third attempt i managed to get in to shift into drive. vehicles transmission service and check engine lights came on stating "service transmission start from park with vehicle at zero speed." when i had shifted through to drive to move the vehicle the transmission made a clunking sound like it had fallen out of the jeep. i drove it 3 miles to my house only going 30 mph. when i got home i attempted to put the vehicle into park and the transmission would not move past neutral. i attempted to remove key 4-5 times and because of this the dash lights had stayed on. i disconnected the battery and had the vehicle towed to the dealership the next day. *tr

Purchased 3/20/14 transmission issues started at approx. 5200mi delayed shift, sharp hard shift at low speeds , ie. under 25mph , intermittent, non-predictive occcurence every couple of weeks, then began to increase frequency, problem persisted even after software upgrades and got worse after most recent software upgrade, transmission shifting was all over the board in delayed, short and rough shift along with lurching forward on occasion dealer has not been effective or pro-active in dealing with this issue, transmission is not performing as designed is mal-functioning almost on a daily basis, the lurching, lunging forward is a definite safety hazard, once it almost lurched into the car ahead of me service invoices are available

two problems came up at around the same time. the car was delivered with the transmission 4 quarts low on fluid. the car was slipping out of gear, lurching and shuddering. the transmission is a sealed unit so there was no way for me to know that. then the dash display went completely dark. no feedback was given, its a digital display. so i had no speedometer, tachometer etc and the warning lights were out. i feel like a vehicle with no dash display that slips out of gear when passing or lurches forward when stopping could be dangerous to other drivers and pedestrians. *tr

Transmission light came simultaneously with car losing ability to shift gear, move forward or reverse. i was in a precarious situation as i was on a heavily traveled road. car is being towed to dealership. this is a brand new car and clearly there is a dangerous issue with the transmission of this car. i am very concerned to drive this vehicle, even after the car has any necessary repairs. i believe this car is a poses a serious safety threat due to its inability to gain speed or change gears at critical times. *tr

2014 jeep cherokee limited, 6 cylinder, purchased on april 21, 2014 with 321 miles on it. there was a slight shimmy in the front end that they told us was a flat spot in the tire that would work itself out and the transmission would have to "learn" my way of driving. on may 30,tt 2217 miles i brought the vehicle back tot he dealer for hesitation in the transmission and shuttering and grinding in the front end. the jeep has been back to the dealer 6 times for shuttering and grinding in the front end when proceeding from stop or low speed after being on the highway at a constant speed for several miles. shuttering can happen when turning or going straight. i have also reported several transmission issues to them with the cars inability to downshift going up a hill and or to up shift when coasting down hills. at one time as i was entering the highway, i tried to accelerate to 55 and the car would not go over 30 mph. i'm glad there were two lanes or i would have been rear ended. car was very jerky when proceeding from a stop and would often suddenly jerk forward after a hesitation to even move. car has been reprogrammed 3 times, had a new valve body installed, a new transmission installed and two new axles installed two days after the axles were installed the shuttering and hesitation in transmission started again. dealer has failed to get back to me. *tr
