We have classified the 977 complaints from 2014 Jeep Cherokee about POWER TRAIN into the following categories.
Driving on local street about 25 mph when service transmission warning comes on. vehicle would not shift beyond 2nd gear, transmission began slipping and eventually would only shift into drive or reverse after delays of about ten seconds. vehicle needed to be towed in to dealer. *tr
Driving on major highway. heard loud bang then "service transmission indication and loss of traction" came on. i lost all power with no way to keep up my speed. i hit my 4 way flashers and the tractor trailer truck behind me had to brake hard and went into the grass median. i finally coasted to the berm and we got out to make sure everybody was ok. this could have ended in a very different way. i feel it is not safe for me or my family to drive the vehicle. if the tractor trailer driver was not paying attention i could have been killed. *tr
Driving on highway car loses power transmission failure warning comes on car stalls this has since happened two more times that it actually failed but continued during course of year to have transmission and loss of acceleration while driving on highway
About every third time driving the vehicle (transmission mode in auto), a dash warning message appears indicating 4wd system overheated and temporarily unavailable, then 4wd capability is lost and vehicle is stuck in 2wd mode. a couple of times the service 4wd yellow warning light also came on. transmission clunk can be heard when slowing to a stop and steadily depressing accelerator to start from stop or after slowing to very low speed results in no response for a couple of seconds, then vehicle lurches forward with engine speed shooting up to ~6k rpm. *tr
While driving on flat terrain at a constant highway speed the car suddenly decelerated for a few seconds with the tachometer needle swaying back and forth and then returned to normal operation. this recurred 5 minutes later. the dealer indicated that it was a transmission software problem and loaded the latest software release. two weeks later the problem occurred again. *tr
We love jeeps...this is our 10th. but the only one we have had problems with. rough shifting into 2 and 3rd. after 4 or 5 dealer visits they basically said; "live with it." jeep customer help couldn't help. engine stopped three times at about 40 mph, very dangerous almost lemoned the car over this safety problem and my wife almost divorced me on this one...but jeep came though and got a fix on this. now the jeep is upshifting and accelerating driving down hill into curves at about 50mph. jeep guys can't duplicate this and basically said to "live with it." trouble is, how can you live with a car that might kill you?
2014 jeep cherokee latitude. fwd v6. the transmission slips and has delayed engagement upon takeoff and while shifting from low speeds. transmission also hunts for gears between 0-15 mph and will jerk car back and forth. when transmission delays engagement (pressing down gas pedal in drive but car isn't moving) it will eventually grab and spins the tires a little before going. my wife and i have had numerous close calls/near accidents due to this issue. turning onto incoming traffic (legally) and the vehicle wont move. it can be terrifying. this mostly happens driving on city streets. i hate this car.
I took my jeep into the dealer to have the transmission looked at after the latest software update. it has worsened in its poor performance. it has huge delays shifting and lunges. it also disengages momentarily when braking. the fuel performance has gone down about 3 mpg since the update from 26mpg to 22.5mpg. there is a serious shake in the system at any speed above 60mph. it vibrates when there is pressure to the wheels. costing downhill it seems fine. i replaced the tires and have had them balanced and rotated twice thinking that was the problem. the dealer said they were not able to identify the problem and did not do any repair or correction. it is not right and i am not sure what to do with it. hate to trade or sell it at this point because i know i will take a huge loss on it.
Tl* the contact owns a 2014 jeep cherokee. the contact stated that the vehicle shifted gears abruptly. the contact also stated that the gear felt as if it shifted into neutral, which caused the engine to rev high. the contact was unable to move the vehicle out of traffic. the contact had to disengage the accelerator pedal to stop the vehicle from revving high. on one occasion, while driving 20 mph, the engine revved high and the speed would not exceed 30 mph. the contact had to decelerate to move the vehicle onto the road shoulder. the failure was experienced numerous times. the contact stated that the vehicle was taken to an unknown dealer regarding an unknown manufacturer recall for the transmission module replacement. the transmission module replacement did not correct the failure. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufcturer was not contacted. the approximate failure mileage was 4,000.
Earlier i reported about having trouble in second gear. now the transmission is having problem and service transmission light came on in a brand new car with just under 7000 miles. the problem started with jerks during gear shifts from park to drive and vice-verse. then, i could feel jerks while shifting from 4th to 5th gear and when it would shift back to 4th from 5th, the engine would rev upto 2000 rpm and then slow down. that was kind of dangerous as it would accelerate the vehicle where you need it to stop. all of a sudden, the service transmission light came on the vehicle would not move from 6th gear and i had to stop on the side of the highway. after switching the engine off and on again, the vehicle started driving but the same problem started repeating. i was on a vacation driving up north in north hampshire, vermont and new york and i had to get back home. somehow i was able to make it home. i'm still waiting for the dealer to give me a confirmation about a loaner car so that i can give it for repairs. *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2014 jeep cherokee. while at a stop, the service transmission and the check engine warning lights illuminated in the vehicle. the vehicle was towed to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the transmission module needed to be replaced. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure. the failure mileage was 68,000.
2014 jeep cherokee. consumer writes in regards to recall notice repairs. *smd the consumer stated the rear hatch came down on her head. in february 2015, the transmission went out. *jb
My wife was on her way to work for the last day before christmas and got 2 blocks from the house before calling for help. the vehicle lost power and luckily she was able to get off of the road. it was rainy both the day before and that morning also. she said there was a message that came up saying shift into park and start the car. she couldn't get it to start again. i met her and after trying, got the car going but noticed that i didn't feel any response or hear any engine revving when pushing the gas pedal down. it also seemed to start fairly rough. she took my vehicle to work. i checked the vehicle later and it started ok. the battery voltage was the normal 12.6v and 14.7v when running. at first i thought it was a fluke. the next day as the vehicle wouldn't start. we decided to wait until fri morning with christmas being thurs. the vehicle did start before the flatbed towed it off to the dealer. the dealer had the vehicle all day and was about ready for me to pick it up when they noticed a loss in pressure at the fuel pump and decided to replace it. after we got the vehicle back it ran ok for a few days but then on 1/3/2015 it cut out again about two blocks from our house in the other direction.. it was again rainy outside. she again saw the same message. i met her and got it started again but also again noticed no reaction to stepping on the gas pedal. when i shifted it into reverse it then seemed to react to giving it gas fine and drove home ok. we took it to church and around town the next day and it seemed fairly normal. having gone through rough shifting problems with this vehicle early and two transmission problems with chrysler grand voyagers and then this jeep and the articles on this site that seem to be pointing to jeep transmissions i think chrysler better come up with the right fix very soon before someone gets killed. *tr
In december 2014, the 2014 jeep cherokee shut off twice in one evening due to transmission related issues: 1) the first occurrence, the jeep was at a red light, when the light changed & the gas pedal was pressed the car lurched and made a loud thump sound and the malfunction indicator light (mil) was illuminated and an error message related to the transmission came on. the car would not accelerate & i was forced to coast into dark parking lot alone. the manual said the vehicle should be serviced if the light stays on through several driving cycles and that the vehicle most likely did not require towing. 2) after following the manual, i turned the car back on and attempted to drive to a safe location until the car could be taken in for service (it was now around 11:00pm). the car drove normally for about 5 minutes until i got on the highway (speed limit 55 mph) & the transmission began to pull & in the middle of the highway thumped and the engine shut off forcing me to rapidly pull over into a dangerous exit ramp at around midnight in the middle of an icy winter. the car would not turn back on & i had to have the car towed. the dealership kept the car for about a week & said the issue was an internal failure of the transmission control module (which they replaced & updated the software). in may 2015, i had been having several issues with the car including another check engine light so i brought it in again for service (this is now the 4th time i had been to the dealership for a variety of issues). the transmission was pulling, jerking, & overall having issues shifting so i requested they service the transmission again. the dealership had to preform a transmission re-learn to improve the shifting. after a couple of days, the transmission was jerking again & i am going to be taking the car back in again for service (now the 5th visit to the dealership).
When attempting to turn from a center left turn lane the vehicle failed to up shift causing a near collision with oncoming traffic. also, i was almost rear ended when the vehicle failed to up shift after a right turn. *tr
While driving down the interstate at 70 mph the electronic transmission disengaged and the vehicle started decelerating to a stop.. luckily the traffic was light and i was able to pull off to the shoulder before coming to a stop. the vehicle did not roll , it started slowing as if braking., i was lucky to not be rear ended, there was no for warning and probably no brake lights. i feel the vehicle is unsafe to drive and want to know why it just shut down at 70 miles per hour, it may have resulted in a serious accident if the traffic hadn't been so light. articles on the internet indicate the launch of the vehicle was delayed by transmission faults. i believe it was put into production faulty. please investigate. *tr
I was traveling on the freeway during rush hour traffic in the left lane, traffic was stop and go. traffic slowed down, once traffic started moving again i stepped on the gas but the car would not accelerate, it would not respond at all. i looked at the dash board and a service transmission message appeared on the screen. i also had a (p)! light on but the parking brake was not on. i tried turning the car off and turning it back on and the car jerked very strongly because i was in traffic i thought someone had hit me but it was my car that had shaken very violently. i put it in neutral it roll just a bit and then would not move the car would not move at all. chp had to tow me off the freeway. after a day at the dealer, we were told it was a bad connection between the computer and the transmission and that the car was now fixed. i was lucky no one hit me while i was stuck in the middle of the freeway and that my kids were not in the car. i drive on the freeway all the time, the car is less than a year old and i am very afraid to drive this car. after reading other similar cases i feel this is a major safety issue with this type of car and that someone (ntsb) should review transmission issues with these cars further. *tr
There had been several minor incidents before december,2014 but has been getting steadily worse. on 12/8/14 i backed out of my drive way on to the street and shifted into drive and the car would not move. there is a message that comes on:shift into park and start the car--which i did pulled back into the drive way and pulled out again only to get the same problem got the same message repeated the actions and the car became drivable. i took it into the dealer on dec 11, 2014 they had it for two day and told me the car software was reset. on december 18, 2014 at 65 mph the car lost all power on the freeway and i had to coast across 5 lanes and had the same message. i restarted the car and it drove ok. i called jeep the next day and have a claim number. my regular dealer can't take it for 10 days so i have a appointment for 12/23 different dealer. *tr
On december 7th, the car (2014 jeep cherokee with 12,600 miles) lost power unexpectedly while i approached a stoplight, and had to be coasted to the side of the road. we waited approximately 10 minutes, and it restarted. no warning or check engine lights came on. over the next several days, we had approximately 3 instances where the car either wouldn't start, or would lose power. still no warning lights came on indicating an issue. as we believed this to be a potential safety issue, we took it to the local jeep dealership and asked them to check it out. they kept it for 6 days and indicated that they could not recreate the issue. we picked the car up on dec. 16th. on december 25 the car again lost all power while driving (lost engine, power steering, and power breaks). fortunately this occurred on a local road and the car was able to be coasted to stop without incident. this time several indicators illuminated including the 'check engine' light. we had the car towed the next day to the same dealer. at the time of this writing, the dealership has had the car 22 days, and still have not been able to diagnose the issue. they did replace the pcm, however this did not correct the issue. i'm filing this complaint because of the potential safety issue. i also have a concern because jeep is not able to properly diagnose the problem in a reasonable amount of time. *tr
When driving at highway speed the at car looses power and starts to buck and downshift to a lower gear then transmission disengages. engine stay running but there is no power and nothing happens when you depress gas pedal. this is very dangerous as it happens consistently. also the transmission many time keeps randomly switching between gears. dealer says its a software issue in the transmission. software updates have not fixed the problem.
I purchased my brand new 2014 jeep cherokee with 30 miles. after about 1500 miles it began shifting very hard in low gears jerking , it red lines extremely hard to where it will jolt the jeep and when i come to a stop it would begin raise rpms and accelerate. it would scare me senseless. i took it to the dealership they said that's how it performs and made me leave. 400 miles later the transmission completely blew out going 50 in la traffic. it was on back order for a month. since then i have taken it in 8 times for the same problem a few times they have updated the tcm now they are saying there is no codes and they cannot duplicate it, even though it does it every single time. the jeep will not know what gear to shift and leave me stranded in intersections before it shifts and peels out. when i break it'll pick up speed it is extremely unsafe and unreliable. jeep has no fix for it and will not buy it back nor compensate me in anyway this isn't right and they should be forced to buy these be back. last weekend i took it on a trip going downhill at 60 mph 2000 rpm i tapped the break and the jeep revved to 5000 rpms also my horn is he hardest horn to push ever it does not work. the service department said its a little harder than normal but they cannot replace it since it doesn't give a code .everyone and their mother is concerned and complains about this issue. one day this thing is going to get me in a wreck. i paid good money for this vehicle i just want something safe and reliable for my family. i wish jeep chrysler however it is would just do the right thing.
Transmission problems! car jerks and slams into gears, upshifts too soon, lunges forward after a stop (sure to cause an accident), upshifts too low causing slow/poor acceleration... terrible tranny, never had tranny problems like this with a new car. i've driven old work trucks with 200,000 miles that have shifted better than this. like the car but absolutely hate to drive it and i won't let my wife drive it with these issues. dealer service, software updates have not helped and a tech told me he just burned up a 9 speed tranny like this one on a new chrysler 200 while doing the latest software update. so i am very weary of having any more 'flash' updates done. help! *tr
My vehicle shifts when it is not supposed to, downshifts at higher speeds, and when you put your foot on the gas it takes approx 3 seconds at times for the car to move forward. sometimes once the gas kicks it, it lungs forward, other times it will not move
While traveling at 45 miles per hour, the transmission make a "thunk" and stopped working. i had no power when pushing on the gas pedal. i had to find a way to safely pull off the road. this is the fourth incident with the transmission but the first one that occurred while actually driving the vehicle. chrysler had just replaced the valve body of the transmission 10 days prior to the nov. 30 incident and prior to that "flashed" the transmission software. i was told all of these "fixes' would work. they are now replacing the entire transmission. this is a safety issue and i have no confidence that the "new" transmission being put in my jeep will resolve the problem. *tr
Transmission shifts hard. so hard that it snaps my neck! problem is mostly with 1-2 and 2-3 shifts. been to the dealer at least 3 times where they upgraded software. now they tell me to live with it.
Traveling on parkway at approx 65 mph with cruise control on. vehicle suddenly lost power, service transmission message displayed, traction control warning light and check engine light both illuminated. had to roll to side of road. turned off engine and restarted. traction control light and check engine light stayed illuminated, but transmission service message was no longer displaying. was able to get vehicle to dealer. awaiting word on cause. *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2014 jeep cherokee. while driving approximately 60 mph, the vehicle lost acceleration. afterward, the vehicle would jerk while in motion. the vehicle was towed to the dealer and the transmission software was updated; however, the failure recurred multiple times. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the vehicle was not repaired. the approximate failure mileage was 25,515.
Purchased new 2014 cherokee v6 latitude active drive ii - 10 times into the shop for weeks at a time for severe bucking, incorrect gear shift of transmission. fully replaced transmission in 4/2017. 1,000 miles later, we are back to square one. noticeable delayed acceleration which is extremely unsafe at busy intersections. car should not be on the road. bucking forward when shifting from stop to first, second, third and same with stopping at faster speeds. hard, unnecessary shifts into the wrong gear at various times. car can be hard to control if shift happens when slowing down at a stop light. the bucking will actually push the car forward instead of helping it stop.
When car is started you try and put the car into gear, when pressing the gear shift button there is a metal to metal grinding and clicking sound. when i called and told the service adviser so i could make an appointment for service he stated what was going on before i finished telling him. also when going from a complete stop or stopping the car, the car will actually lunge forward. shifts very hard when going from 1 gear to 2 and 3 gears. *tr
On 09th july 2014, i bought a jeep cherokee 2014 at united cars al mana airport showroom qatar. unfortunately, the product jeep cherokee is not usable according to the following: on friday 14th november 2014 07:00 pm, the car completely shut down without any prior warning or alert messages, dashboard shows (smart key failure, steering columns is not locked as stated on the repair order), despite several attempts to contact mopar road assistance, but the number given was wrong. after many trails i delivered the vehicle to the services at 11:30 pm. two days later i got a phone call from service consultant stating that the car is ready for pick up; repair report indicated that the battery was faulty and has been changed. on 29th november 2014, the car breakdown and every single warning message have been appeared on the dashboard, then, i delivered the car by breakdown on a trailer. the warning message was ?transmission services?, the repair report stated that the dynamo has been changed only. on 7th december, 2014 exactly the same thing has happened with small change that time, the car delivered to me by extra error ?transmission performance failure?. recently the complications begun to increase rapidly, i delivered the car for the fourth time to services. ? on 31st january, 2015 i delivered the car to the services by transmission problem. ? on 02nd february, 2015, i received same phone call, one day later the car completely stopped in the middle of the road. on 7th february, 2015, i met the service manager and he promised to solve the transmission issues as they received bulletin by the faulty part from chrysler usa because it's a known problem. on 09th february, 2015, i received a call from their engineer asking me to go to dealers workshop because new software just received. the car was delivered on saturday 14th february, 2015.
Tl* the contact owns a 2014 jeep cherokee. while driving 50 mph, the vehicle jerked and the gear changed into first gear without warning. once the vehicle was shut off and restarted, the vehicle returned to normal. the vehicle was taken to zimmer chrysler dodge jeep ram (1086 burlington pike, florence, ky 41042, (859) 525-1344) to be diagnosed, but the cause of the failure could not be determined. the failure recurred multiple times. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure and stated that the contact needed to take the vehicle to the dealer for diagnostic testing. the failure mileage was 33,000.
The transmission on this jeep has numerous problems, but safety issue is that vehicle adds fuel when you are slowing down or stopping. prior to shifting down from 8th to 7th on an interstate, and worse, when in city traffic shifting from 5th to 4th when the tachometer actually goes up 1000 rpm or more causing you to brake harder. this is particularly dangerous when on ice and hard packed snow. this is not deceleration due to compression, but an actual addition of fuel just as if you hit the accelerator. it has done this since new, but is getting worse and chrysler has not addressed the issue to date. it has been in for repairs 2 times. *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2014 jeep cherokee. the contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the vehicle decelerated as the check engine warning indicator illuminated. the failure recurred numerous times. the vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the transmission failed and needed to be replaced. the vehicle was no repaired. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure. the failure mileage was approximately 5,400.
I purchased a 2014 jeep cherokee , at approx.340 miles my transmission failed going through a very busy intersection . i had a loss of power ,the dash started flashing service transmission ,stability track warning came on and on shift panel the light next to drive was flashing , accelerator was mushy. rolled to side of road where safe , put car in park , called for help. after in park for a few minutes tried to engage drive and it work , but car had too much power and was over revving . dealership had it towed , and seemed to fix issue. then again at 1341 miles i had same issue but was not able to drive it but this time i was almost hit by a large tractor who didn't realize i lost power , i have a small child that is not even two years old yet in the car!!!!!!!! . at this point dealership is working on it and replacing the transmission modular , but very wary of keeping this vehicle , have a few trips schedule very very soon and do not want to be out of cell phone range and have same issue, or worse yet have a tragic accident . *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2014 jeep cherokee. the contact stated that while attempting to accelerate from a stop, the accelerator pedal was depressed but the vehicle failed to accelerate. in addition, the vehicle jerked. the vehicle was taken to multiple dealers. the contact was unsure about what part needed to be replaced; however, the vehicle was repaired. the failure persisted. the vehicle was taken to another dealer where it was diagnosed that there was a failure with the transmission programming. the dealer stated that there was no remedy for the failure. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the failure mileage was unknown.
The car is only 5 months old. has a zf 9 speed automatic transmission and 3.2l 46 24v -vvt engine. i was driving on a tollway in moderate traffic at a speed of approximately 60-65 mph. without slowing down or changing speed, the display on the dash listed "service transmission". all power to the engine was lost and car began to slow down. would not respond to acceleration. check engine light, stability control light, p! were all displayed. had to find a way to the shoulder and stop car. turned off car and restarted it. "check transmission " was displayed. put it in drive and it felt like it was starting in 2nd or 3rd gear. would not shift gears. could get up to 35 mph with the tach at 2000 rpm. would not shift at all. got home and let car sit for a few hours. started car after sitting for a few hours and the "service transmission" was gone. all other warning lights were gone except for service engine light. drove to dealer next day and car appeared to shift ok. dealer loaded pcm flash update. reprogrammed tcm per tsb 21-018-14. reprogrammed rf hub per 08-077-14. car appears to be driving ok. dealer said they couldn't find any problems with the transmission. they treated this very lightly . i feel this is a significant safety issue. lost all acceleration and control at high speed. no notification of updates were sent previously. *tr
Since getting this vehicle in oct. 2014 we have had nothing but problems with it. the car switches gears when it shouldn't and lunges forward. also when you slow down to stop the car lurches and shakes before coming to a complete stop. sometimes you can feel the pedal pumping under your foot when you are moving slowly in traffic. whenever you are going up any type of hill the engine sounds like it is going to explode. we have taken it to the dealership where we purchased it numerous times and continue to just be told that it is a known issue with 2014 jeep cherokee's. there is also a clicking noise by the tires whenever your make a turn. we also took it to the dealership for this and they claim they didn't notice anything. it sounds like the wheel is going to fall off! we should not have these problems with a car that has less than 20,000 miles on it! i cannot wait to get rid of this jeep. i've had older cars in the past and had not nearly the amount of problems as i have had with this jeep. it doesn't feel safe to drive. jeep is well aware of this issue yet they continue to do nothing about it.
Purchased a 2014 cherokee trailhawk with 0 miles on oct 25. at 200 miles, and 48 hours later i took it onto the beach. as soon as it got into the sand, it dropped to 2nd gear and rpms shot up to just over 3000. car would not shift out of second. temp went up to 230. later on all computers in car started to flash like white noise. brought it back to the dealer and was given a variety of excuses. bad abs sensor, loose fuse etc. went to pick the car up from the dealer after hours when they were closed. as soon as i turned it on, flashing white noise on all the screens.i also took it on the beach a day or two later, and again car wouldn't shift out of second gear on the beach. the car now began to shift very erratically. it would up shift very fast accelerate when my foot was not on the gas. when coming to a stop it would down shift so hard. when i brought the car back to the dealer, (now with 700 miles on it) they told me they were replacing the entire transmission. they have had the car for 3 weeks total. finally picked up the car last week.when i got into the car the odometer ready 6000 miles! i dropped it off with 700.i told him for the 3rd time that i did not want it. i have also been dealing with a jeep resolution team from chrysler.its been a week, the car is shifting more erratic than it has since the new transmission. the sunroof leaks water, the windshield is constantly fogged and looks like there is a clear coat that may have gotten on the car that makes it impossible to see when driving. also, when i turn the floor heat on, the front defroster comes on.chrysler contacted me on friday, and my jeep has officially been deemed a lemon, and i am entitled to a replacement. i don't want a replacement. i want a full refund and to head over to the toyota dealer. *tr
Later afternoon, i had trouble engaging the transmission into reverse. i was finally successful engaging the transmission and headed home (50 miles of backroad/highways). about 1/2 mile from home, the "malfunction indicator light" appeared on the dashboard, followed by the "transmission temperature warning light". in about 500 feet i arrived at an intersection and stopped. when i accelerated away from the intersection - the engine rev'd (rpm's jumped) but the car would barely move. i was able to drive it in this condition the remaining 4 blocks to home. i called a tow truck and they towed to the dealer. note: the tow truck driver had difficulty engaging the transmission to move the vehicle off the street. the dealer had the vehicle for 8 days. they advised they found old codes, but could not replicate the problem. they installed a software upgrade on the transmission control module and returned the vehicle to me. the car now seems to shift "rough". *tr
Transmission slipping and banging. slips at start from stop
At a highway cruising speed, when the gas pedal is released and the car is allowed to decelerate itself without pressing the brake, at certain downshifts the car will experience a jump in engine rpm of 1000 and the car will lurch forward and accelerate on its own. this is especially dangerous when going around curves or if there were ice on the road or the car were hydroplaning. chrysler jeep has not released a fix or a recall for this issue and it is being said that it is normal for the transmission to do this. i believe it is a dangerous condition with high potential for accidents unless fixed. *tr
While slowing down, with my foot on the brake, as the car approached 20 mph, the rpm suddenly increased and the car accelerated. my foot was not on the accelerator. i tested this multiple times and it occurred every time!! also, the car has shifted roughly since the day we took it home. it is getting worse. i had to approach traffic lights more carefully to assure i was far enough behind other drivers so if the car lurched (it does), i would not hit the car in front. i am not certain, but it felt like the car was also doing this at about 70 mph. i did not have a chance to test this much. i took the car to the dealership and they said the transmission must be replaced!!! the car is 7 mos old. they said the transmission is not immediately available, so they do not know when i will get my car back!! omgosh! i want a new car! when i get this back, i will likely trade it. *tr
Ever since the first update to the tcm, the transmission has been slipping and then grabbing. more than once, it has slipped when i had to pull out into fast moving traffic. the last time, i needed to pull out into traffic. as i pushed on the accelerator, the rpms increased, but the speed didn't. the engine rpm's spun up to around 6000 rpm and i was only travelling 15 mph. all of a sudden, the transmission grabbed. the wheels chirped and the vehicle accelerated. i was nearly hit from behind due to the failure of the jeep to accelerate properly.
The car fails to accelerate while driving. it will downshift hard and then feel as if i am gliding along. warning lights have come on while driving and then go off when pull over to stop. it has totally stopped working on two occasions-no power-then magically starts again. the transmission has already been replaced once and it still has the same problems. it has become a safety issue as i never know if it will accelerate in traffic. the dealer has been told several times. now there is a recall and the remedy is not yet available. it is very scary to drive.
So far, i have experienced three issues with my brand new jeep cherokee 2014. 1. when accelerating from a stopped position, the vehicle vibrates/wobbles, while at low first gear speeds. 2. when breaking to stop, a brief surge of acceleration happens just before the stop completes. 3. when accelerating from any speed, the vehicle hesitates with a jerkiness before shifting into gear. i plan to bring the vehicle into the dealership, but, research to date indicates there are no resolutions for these issues. i have owned the jeep cherokee for less than three weeks. *tr
There are significant shifting problems with this model and transmission. vehicle has been back to the dealership 4 times and issues are still unresolved. this seems to be a much larger product issue with this 9 speed transmission and jeep / chrysler is currently deflecting the issue as a computer problem. *tr
The transmission on our jeep has been in 4 times for this repair and they admit it is a problem with the software. the problem is a hesitation between gears. it happens when you pullout to pass and it takes 3 to 4 seconds for the transmission to respond to the gas input and then it takes off but it is to late and you have to brake and get back in line. it also happens in snow or icy conditions when you add gas it doesn't respond and feels like it is in neutral and then kicks in and you lose traction. this happens when entering a driveway uphill also. i've never experienced this response from a vehicle before and feel it is a safety issue.
I have a 2014 jeep cherokee trailhawk, and whenever i try to quickly slow down, the car actually accelerates during the downshift - between 25-20mph. this is a big problem because it happens unexpectedly and when you most need the braking - especially if you are on an incline. this is why i have had many close calls and have almost rear-ended many cars now. i've taken it to the dealer, and they said they couldn't find anything wrong. reading various forums, this seem to be a widespread issue with chrysler 9 speed transmissions that they've recently released. please, please make them fix this issue. i will be getting rid of my vehicle for this reason, and i hope for the safety of everyone they will fix this.
This is a followup complaint to (odi number) 10618847 & (odi number) 10620977. today while driving in traffic the 2014 jeep cherokee i was driving stopped accelerating while i was driving and displayed a service transmission error and message saying to put the vehicle into park. the check engine light also came on. the vehicle was towed to a different dealership this time as the one i purchased from was out of range for jeep roadside assist. this is clearly a major problem with this vehicle and jeep has not been helpful getting it resolved thus-far as this is the third time it has occurred in as many months. *tr
The first incident in october jeep came to complete stop on highway.also would accelerate on its own. it was towed to dealership. they drove it sent info to chrysler they said it needed transmission replaced. was in shop 22 days. dec.30 2014 towed back to dealership, for several issues. would not take off when you pressed gas pedal after 2 attempts it lunge and began moving , driving in traffic pressed the brake and it did not slow down instead it speed up after pressing break harder it slowed. few days later it would not shift out sounded like it in first gear.they once again replaced the transmission and updated the soft ware . it sounds like the shocks are bad but they didn't address this issue either. it rides and feels like it sways all over the road. this jeep cherokee latitude was bought new in 2014 . i think it is seriously a road hazard. *tr
