Recently reported ELECTRICAL SYSTEM problems on 2003 Infiniti G35

While your driving you lose control of heating controls. it was raining and i had to defrost windows. well it started heating the floor and i could not control where to direct heat. and note the radio doesn't work when it occurs as well.

Crankshaft angle sensor and camshaft position sensor both failed causing vehicle to stall at low rpm's (engine dies loosing brakes and steering). infinity recall #r3021 has this problem yet my vehicle not included in this recall for some reason. called infinity and they will not help me. what are my options? my cost is $621.86 repairs and diagnosis.

The charger port had some sort of malfunction and my car was burned to the frame. it was parked in my drive way and had been since 8:00 p.m police officers where coming in my front door at around 2:00 a.m. my car was engulfed in flames.

The complete console lighting has gone out in my car. it only works when the exterior lights are off. not able to drive at night and difficult to drive during daylight due to not being able to see the speedometer. very much a safety issue.

2003 infiniti g35 air-conditioning unit suddenly will not turn off. unable to turn on the defroster because of this making visibility poor and very dangerous at times. radio will not turn on. this is widespread problem with this vehicle but nothing is being done about it.

My crank position sensor and cam position sensors keep failing causing the car to kill while driving and making it very hard to start.

Was driving my car and the ac and stereo button lights went out, the ac was then stuck on full blast at 70 degrees and could not be shut off or changed and the stereo was inoperable as well.

'tamara recall' my radio and complete column to adjust ac went out. there was a recal for my same year and model vehicle, but infiniti is saying my vin isn't covered. i took the steps to have the recall my fixed by a licensed mechanic and still nothing works. it is a safety hazard as i have a young child and the car only blows heat. in ca it it still very hot right now and cannot afford another vehicle.

My car seat moved all the forward while driving to work in denver metro'bench and back support both pushed me a few inches from the steering wheel. i had to move my leg with my hand to reach the brake pedal. one week later, my car horn began beeping and would not stop while driving. my vdc and brake lights now stay on constantly because the anti skid does not work'i almost wrecked on a snowy highway. the front tires wear exponentially faster than the back tires. i had blowouts two separate times on the interstate. the front windows are now glued shut because they roll down on their own. the airbag light stays on now too. i realize it's an old car; i bought it for $8,000 4 years ago when it had ~95,000 miles. now it has ~140,000. the level of quick decline is truly frightening though. i don't drive my 2003 infinit g35 any more and am apprehensive to sell it to anyone else. the car i loved is now like driving a horror movie.

Tl* the contact owns a 2003 infiniti g35. while driving approximately 30 mph, the engine shut off without warning. the vehicle was coasted to the side of the road and was restarted. the dealer was contacted (jim lupient infiniti, 7200 wayzata blvd, burnsville, mn, 763-546-5577) and stated that there was no recall. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure and stated that there was no recall. the failure was not repaired. the failure mileage was approximately 150,000.

Tl* the contact owns a 2003 infinti g35. the contact stated that the vehicle stalled while traveling various speeds and the check engine, brake, and vdc off warning indicators illuminated. the infiniti of norwood dealer (866 providence hwy, norwood, ma) was contacted and diagnosed that the camshaft assembly needed to be replaced. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the failure mileage was approximately 140,000.

I was filling gas up suddently my car did not want to start. my check engine light soon when on. when i started driving my car was moving poorly. my engine light when on after. i when to autozone to check my code. they said it was due too camshaft senors.

Twice now, the vehicle has completely died while in motion, once while backing out of a driveway, another time while driving. took to a mechanic (not dealer mechanic) who said it was the cam shaft and crank sensors. i looked online and saw that there had been a recall for this part for this year, 2003 for infiniti g35. yet when i called, i was told that my vin was not included in the recall. this to me seems highly suspicious. my 17 year old daughter was driving the car at the times it spontaneously died. i was very glad that she was not on the freeway or somewhere else busy when it happened! this vehicle has otherwise been completely dependable over the past 14 years of ownership, to have it spontaneously die while driving is very frightening for a dependable vehicle!

Vehicle was parked as i pressed the lock button on the control. horn started honking and stayed on continuously i then opend the door put keys in ignition and turned it as if i was going to turn vehicle on and then car stoped honking i started the car on and horn noise stayed off i pressed the horn and it honked as normal but once i turned vehicle off i pressed the horn again to see if car would honk as normal and horn started honking again continuously stayed on until i again turned keys in ignition switch on and car stopped honking keeps doing this cant seem to find the problem

Audio "finisher" board shorts out, the radio is compromised but the safety issue is that the heater controls switch to high, and on floor heater vents. there is no longer a defroster and the controls are inoperable. infinity in the past issued the following: 2003 g35 sedan audio finisher circuit board voluntary service campaign.

My slip light and vct light has came on in my 2003 infiniti g35 and also the ebrake light and non of them will go offf. i recently hydro planed in the rain due not being able to turn my traction control on abs did nothing to stop my car from loosing traction this would never of happened if my car did not have these problems. further looking into it they have had made a tsb talking about how the abs and anti wheel lock may malfunction. i was in a 5 car pile up and almost died. if my traction control was able to be turned on witch it wouldn't let me i would not of hydro planed my whole back end just swung forward out of nowhere people though someone in my car pulled my ebrake the way the back end just swung forward. both the slip light and the vct light remained on along with my ebrake light. i drive my car like a baby and to barley push the gas should not result in my back end swinging forward resulting in completely wreching my car along with 4 other drivers. i feel infiniti is definitely reliable and should of recalled these parts due to putting people in danger instead of making it a tsb like its not a big deal. i am also not the only one iv found a few people that crashed there car due to rainy wether and the traction control not wanting to turn on. i was on the freeway doing about 60 to 65. if i new infiniti had so many problems i would not of purchased one 77 bulletins and after reading about all the problems the 2003 had and all the recalled parts i would not of purchased it and put my life at risk. i feel infiniti should be reliable it's commen sense to know that first hand not fixing those problems would lead to serious injuries and i'm not the only one. let me know what you think i will be emailing infiniti to. it may not be a recalled part but it' put me and everyone else on the freeway at risk and totaled my car. bellow is someone who also had the issue

While driving, the vehicle turned off on 2 occasions. on several occasions, it lost power, and then recovered, but twice, it literally turned completely off. the "slip", "vdc off", and "service engine soon" lights all appeared. i took it to my local infiniti dealer who said it was subject to a recall for earlier-produced models, and subject to a bulletin which described exactly what had happened. the crank position sensor and bank 1 and 2 of the cam position sensors had to be replaced at a cost of $563.03, and infiniti says that without nhtsa telling them to pay for it, they refuse. this car is a 2003, however, it is in mint condition with less than 55,000 original miles on it--always dealer maintained.

Nissan campaign id p3104, ref itb03-007 describes exact problem. the vin number of our car is within range of campaign listed vin #'s but nissan insisted today that our car was not covered by campaign. heat/air temperature controls and radio do not operate. problem has occurred over past several years intermittently, but now will not function at all. nissan is refusing to honor their own campaign by saying our vin # was not covered by campaign even though it is in the range of vin #'s listed in the campaign.

Third high mount brake light is intermittent possibly creating confusion to driver behind me. this has been an on going problem and has been reported by multiple drivers on g35driver.com. this happens whether stationary or driving. at times it may appear dull.

During 2 rain events, the horns began to blow and continued to blow until the burned out. if this were to happen while the driver was not present, driver would have no way of knowing if the horns were working until they were required. other cases of this have been documented on g35driver.com. i am the first owned of the car and it has been garaged for all of its life. both times it happened after driving the car and then parking it.

I bought this car new from bommarito infiniti in ellisville, mo in 2003. i have intermittently had problems with the stereo system and air-conditioning/heater controls working. at this point, the heater is stuck on 90 degrees, controls not working, and also the radio will not work from the console but i can control it from the steering wheel. i have researched this online and see that it is a problem with this car and year but when i called the infiniti consumer affairs department i was told that this particular part was not recalled on my car but other cars had been affected. this clearly is a ongoing issue with this cars circuit board they should continue their research. i have to say at least it is wintertime in illinois right now otherwise i would be dying of a heat stroke driving this car....

Tl* the contact owns a 2003 infiniti g35. while driving 75 mph, the vehicle stalled without warning and the steering wheel became difficult to maneuver. the vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic, but was not diagnosed or repaired. the manufacturer was not notified of the failure. the failure mileage was 171,181.

Finisher board malfunction, no defroster for front and rear windows,. radio and ac impaired

2003 infiniti g35. consumer writes in regards to vehicle audio and temperature control system recall issues. *smd it was determined the control was bad. however, the consumer vin was not included in the recall. *jb

The climate control/ audio control unit in my g35 froze a few weeks ago making the system inoperable. as a result the the front and rear defrosters have become inoperable creating a dangerous driving condition specially in the rain. this is a common issue for all g35s made from 2003 -2005 and infiniti is very well aware of it. however they have done nothing to address it. back in 2003 they have done a recall but only to a limited number of cars that had a particular part number. but the truth is every g35 with the oem unit is vulnerable to this issue. in ability to control the defrosters affects the visibility which may cause an accident that may result in injuries and or death.

Had my car in a nissan dealership for diagnostic for ac problems and was told that my 3rd rear brake light was also out. i was not even aware of this. then i was told that i could not just replace the bulb, that i would have to buy a complete assembly unit for that and it would run me $287.00 plus tax!!!!! every time i turn around something is costing me several hundred dollars. this is a safety issue. i just put out over $700.00 for the a/c, radio finisher circuit board, also not on a recall!

Tl* the contact owns a 2003 infiniti g35. upon starting the vehicle, the contact noticed that the air conditioning system and radio failed without warning. the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, but was not diagnosed or repaired. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the failure mileage was 80,000. updated 09/21/15*lj

It was about a year ago when i first started having issues with my a/c and radio. a/c blows intermittently at what ever temperature and air level it feels like and cannot be adjusted. the radio at the same time cannot be adjusted. the first time this issue happened it lasted for about a week and then it just started working again. now it is like it has a mind of its own. this is unsafe to drive without being able to use the defroster in the mornings and late at night. not only is it a safety issue but it is also unhealthy to get a constant full blow of 62 degree air blasting at you when it is 40 to 50 degrees out side. even though i adjust the vents closed it still blows cold air through them. this seems to be an issue with these cars and cannot understand why nissan wont take responsibility for this design flaw. i ended up taking my car to the nissan dealership and had to pay a diagnostic fee, no codes came up. but they are telling me that this is an issue with these cars and the audio finisher circuit board will need to be replaced at a cost of 700.00.! there are so many nhtsa complaints about this issue. it is a safety issue if you cannot see out your window, because you cannot work the defroster!

This vehicle's radio and temperature controls do not work! i can't believe the number of complaints about this issue. i've talked to knowledgeable people about this and all have said that this issue is a bad/defective board. i will never purchase a nissan or infiniti product again!

Control panel totally inoperable. ac blows at highest setting, unable to change any settings, unable to use defroster. recall doesn't include my vin although it has the same problem as those recalled. *tr

The radio will stop operating and the air conditioner will blow at its highest level. you do not have any control over regulating the temperature or flow. obviously, i'm not the only person to encounter this problem. *tr

Engine stalled while driving, check engine light came on at the time of the stall. the engine kicked back on within seconds. within minutes, the car stalled again sitting idle at a light but did not kick back on. hard restart. car was brought to the repair shop where it was found that the crankshaft position sensor was bad. paid $400 for parts and labor to replace. *js

Radio, cd, and a/c control console do not work. also the dashboard cracked. i called infiniti and i was told no recall had been issue. i'm extremely disappointed by this brand. i will take my business to honda who make better quality cars. *tr

The climate control system stopped working, which includes the defroster. luckily it occurred in the month of may and not in january when the snow flies, as it could have created a very serious safety issue due to the defroster not working. after looking on-line, this seems to be a very common issue to g35 owners and there are numerous blogs describing the same condition. it is due to an electrical failure within the controls for the radio & climate control systems. it appears the safety issue is being ignored, possibly because it's tied to the radio. if there haven't been any accidents/deaths attributed to this, it's probably only matter of time. within the nhtsa complaints listing it has been reported numerous times. please don't ignore it any longer. imagine yourself on a trip cross county, in january, and the defroster stops working. you might have to continue driving just to get to a town. or you might risk continuing your trip so as to get home to contact the dealership. i'm sure there are cases where people have done just that, risking the safety of themselves & others due to poor visibility. all because a car manufacturer won't stand behind their product and except responsibility. p.s. my vehicle has less than 69000 miles. *tr

I had pulled up to drive thru window at the bank and put my car in park, with the engine running, when i finished my transaction i tried to put my car in drive but the gear shifter wouldn't move. i finally shut my car off and waited a few seconds and started it again and the shifter worked. it has also happened to me when i have started my car and tried to put it in reverse. it is intermittent. i also have an air bag sensor light flashing and hope they will include my vin # in the recall but they haven't so far. even in the expanded recall. i don't know why. when does our safety become important? my stereo/cd player also stopped working and i had to replace that. what good does all of these repetitive complaints do if the auto companies aren't made to repair all of them? *tr

While driving the vehicle stopped running no brakes steering or warning when i called nissan they told my car was not included in a recall of this part this is a real danger and should be addressed i ended up fixing this at my own expense. *tr

My radio and ac comes on but i cannot turn on/off from control panel of car on dash. i can only operate the radio from the steering wheel. my a/c is on full blast at cold air and will not shut off. *tr

Ac/climate control circuit board is not functioning. there was a voluntary service campaign issued by infiniti (tb003-007, campaign id p3104), but only for certain vin numbers. many other 2003 owners, not covered by the recall, are experiencing the same issue. this is a safety issue as rear and front window defrosters do not operate. *tr

I got my car in april 2013 not a year yet. i was at work when they said the light started to blink and then the alarm started to go off when the security came by around it was smoking and on fire it was coming from the hood. the police and fire station said they think it was a electric problems. i really don't know what i should do now. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2003 infiniti g35. the contact stated that while driving approximately 40 mph, the climate control thermostat and radio failed. the vehicle was taken to a dealer, where it was diagnosed that the circuit board needed be replaced. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was made aware of the problem. the approximate failure mileage was 92,000.

The entire console including defroster etc. went out. this is a known problem and a voluntary recall was issued for sedans but not coupes. however, the coupe has the same problem. it is the finisher electrical card which failed and apparently has been failing consistently for this year and model. infiniti is forcing their customers to pay for this original flaw. otherwise you are stuck without any ability to alter the console settings including the ability to defrost/defog your windshield which creates a safety concern. i will no longer be in the market for a nissan product, along with my neighbors, friends and relatives that i have shared this with. *tr

I recently got a used car from my friend, but the climate control doesn't work on the car. the problem has been a long time, but i noticed this after getting this car to me from my friend, but she said she has had this problem for long time. the specific problem is that the audio panel doesn't work, the climate panel is with the audio panel, so the climate control does not work at all. so i cannot control my climate in my car, so the front and rear window defroster all the time, it is really hard to drive. when i checked this problem with dealer and on the web, it is really,,common problem in this year and this kind of car, but the company doesn't have recall for this problem, so the dealer said it costs more than $1,000 to change the panel and to fix all problem. this doesn't make sense at all. please check this problem, and correct this, thank you for reading my concern, *tr

Just recently while i was driving my radio and a/c unit on the dashboard blanked out and stopped working. right after about a minute later the a/c came on full blast with the temperature at 68 along with the radio playing. at that time i was only able to operate the radio from the steering while. this makes me really nervous because i will soon need to use my defroster due to the climate change, i wont be able to see which could cause a serious accident. after researching and finding out this is a common problem with the 03 g35 infiniti sedan, i called the dealer only to find out my car wasn't on the recall list. i don't understand why my car is not covered since it is the exact same model and experiencing the exact same problem. please help with this issue. *tr

driving hazard b/c of not being able to control the climate, particularly the front and rear window defrosters. *tr

My entire center console gradually stopped working. the ac/climate control is always on full-blast (no way to adjust it or turn it off). the radio does not turn on or off. the garage controls are not functional. none of the lights appear on the dashboard. after speaking with two local dealerships and looking up information online, i discovered that this seems to be a very common problem with this year, make, and model. 9/10 times, the complication apparently goes away after replacing the audio unit. estimated cost of parts/repair of the audio unit at the dealer is $800. if this doesn't work, i was told it's usually the circuit board, which also costs around $800.

Stereo doesn't work all of a sudden...then the ac turns on high level at 60 degrees. ? it doesn't turn off. my concern is that in winter when the front and rear windows are fogged up i cant heat them up to clear them which is a safety hazard..i don't understand why there's a recall on the sedan for the exact problem, but not the coupe.. thanks *tr

Electrical control panel failures caused total lost control of air condition and audio system. it is very dangerous to drive at night or bad weather due to front and rear defrosters are not operational. until fatalities occurred and reported, car is highly recommended not operated at night or under bad weather. this problem is known as common problem with thousands of first model of g35. unfortunately, infiniti will not take responsibility for it but willing to fix for high cost. owners takes their own safety risks if cannot afford to pay the high cost of replacement from infiniti dealers. also, there is a risk if owners try to replace the circuit by buying and installing cheaper aftermarket panel from any car radio/repair shop. infiniti should think about safety of their customers and their reputation. *tr

The electrical system that controls the ventilation system has failed. there was a recall on some 2003 g35 for the identical problem but this car was not included. there have been numerous reports of similar failures on similar cars for this year. infinity claims that the failures were limited to cars manufactured prior to this one. this car was built in september the recall was for cars built before that time. the failure is significant in that the defogging and defrosting systems do not operate. *tr

I can no longer control the a/c or defrost of my car, which impairs my ability to see out my windshields. all the buttons in the center console are inoperable because of a circuit board malfunction. since i cannot control the defrost, i cannot pass the state safety inspection. dealer says it will cost between $1300-2000 to fix. there was a recall on my car in 2003 and infiniti says they replaced the part in my car so this fix would be at my own expense. this is not a common problem in cars under 100k miles -- only in this make/model. online discussion boards are full of 2003/2004 g35 owners with the same problem. this is an absolute safety hazard, especially for those who can't afford to pay $2k to fix a circuit board problem. *jb

We purchased our son an infiniti g35 coupe for graduation. we were very pleased with our purchase and to see his eyes light up was priceless. after a week or two of having the car, the radio stopped and the entire electric console shut down except for the air, which is on full blast with no option to turn it down or off. my husband spoke to one of the infiniti dealers who told him that there was a recall on that model for the four doors only and the sedan would be almost $2000 to repair. i called corporate and explained the situation and though they are aware of the issue through numerous complaints, they are basically not willing to do anything for the g35 coupes. i spoke with kelly with consumers affairs and asked what we were supposed to do since this is a hazard for our son and she said, "well that would be at your discretion to let him drive." can you believe this? she said take the car to our nearest infiniti dealership and pay for a "diagnosis test" and then call them back, but, since this is out of warranty there is probably nothing we will do....how can they refuse to deal with a major problem like this and then try to stick the repair cost to us?? this is a safety hazard as the air cannot be turned down or off and is constantly blowing into the drivers eyes which impedes their vision. it also affects the defrost and heat which is inoperable. the entire console is out!!! *tr
