Recently reported ELECTRICAL SYSTEM problems on 2003 Infiniti G35

Vehicle momentarily lost power and dash instrument lights went on (slip, vdc off, service engine soon). the ipdm (intelligent power distribution module) was replaced by the dealer in december 2011 for the same problems. my research revealed that this is a common problem with this model and year. separately, high mount rear stop light no longer works. research indicates this is also a common problem. *tr

Controls for audio, including on steering wheel, and controls for temp do not work. this car was made one month after cut off date for recall on this component. i would like to get this repair from infiniti at no charge. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2003 infiniti g35. the contact stated that the complete middle console on near the instrument panel failed without warning. the contact also mentioned that the defroster failed to function. the failure was intermittent. the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the center console needed to be replaced. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the failure mileage was approximately 92,000.

Third brake led lamp stops working and randomly comes back on. this also happens in almost every other g35 sedan i have seen to date. *tr

Air conditioning/heating controls running full blast with zero ability to control. this is a safety issue as windows cannot be defrosted in the winter. radio not working. infiniti corporation is not warranting this issue, but refers customers to local dealerships. *tr

Stereo audio cut off and a/c turned on to full blast. console controls and temperature controls stopped working. turned off car then on to see if it would fix the issue, but once it was on the a/c turned to full blast again and controls don't work. this issue has my motor running harder bc the a/c is on causing my car to overheat while driving uphill. ever since the controls have not worked constantly for over a year. *tr

The controls on my center console where the a/c and radio are stopped working. the radio turned off by itself and came back on less then a minute later but none of the buttons were illuminating. my heat went from 77 degrees on the lowest setting on the face vents, to 87 degrees on "auto a/c" to the highest setting and switched to the foot vents. it has done this before, but it has always "come back to life" if you will, within 10 minutes. it has now been like this for four days, blasting cold air into my car on 33 degree days. i understand infiniti recalled the board that they poorly designed only on the sedans. this board design is definitely a safety issue, living in the midwest, and being my only mode of transportation. when winter hits, and temperatures really fall, and my car is only blowing out cold air, and worst of all on my feet, i will not be able to defrost my windows properly. it just does not make sense to me why infiniti would recall a part in one car that is the exact same in another it just has two doors. its like paying someone to paint the inside of your house. the reason you chose them is because you found them to be loyal and trustworthy. come to find out the painter only painted half of your house and took a few valuables on his way out. i just hope a lawyer sees some good money in a class action lawsuit because i know i do. *tr

Started car, radio would cut in & out , i lived with it , until in may 2014 the a/c & radio would cut in & out , sometimes if you restart it would fix the problem , today it was 94 degrees out , the a/c after several tries would not work . very frustrating!! *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2003 infiniti g35. the contact stated that the climate controls failed and visibility was reduced because the contact was unable to defrost the windows. the vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was found that the electrical panel circuit needed to be replaced. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was not contacted about the failure. the failure mileage was approximately 80,000.

Common problem with the g35. audio finisher controls the climate control system and stereo. doesn't sound like it is dangerous but it is! no ability to use defrost in thunderstorm yesterday and had to pull over numerous times. called infiniti today and their recall does not cover my vin. they offer a goodwill replacement if you buy another car etc. car is not safe and i will not pay infinity $1500 to repair when they effectively concede they know there is a problem with the design and it is dangerous. *tr

As i was traveling down the road, my a/c turned on by itself and my radio display went away. i was unable to turn off my a/c or control my radio. none of the buttons on the center console worked. *tr

Intermittent loss of control of front window defogger, rear window defroster, radio, a/c. this happens randomly while driving causing loss of visibility in cold or rainy weather. this problem started happening on rare occasion but the frequency is getting progressively worse and now happens almost every time the vehicle is driven! *tr

The radio will not come on. cannot operate ac or heater. no defrost. cannot operate from steering wheel. stereo cd player not working. *tr

The ac and radio controls basically none of the dashboard controls are working including defroster which is big safety hazard and as per infiniti dealership its a radio and circuitboard issues. after looking at internet i have found that there was a recall campaign (voluntary service campaign 2003 infiniti g35 sedan; audio finisher circuit board) for this issues -> itb03-007b service campaign -> issue description listed below available on the internet. but infiniti dealer is not accepting any recall on this ground and they are asking for 1300+ bucks to fix this issue. can someone please help as i can live without ac and climate controls but not without defroster. also its a trouble that ac auto turns on at full blown speed which cause too much cold in winter and its a health risk for myself and family including 2 kids. description from internet - on some model year 2003 g35 sedans manufactured through august 21, 2002, the audio and temperature controls may not operate as expected. when using the audio equipment or the temperature controls, the unit may become inoperative. in some cases, this can be corrected by turning the ignition switch off and back on again. in other cases, the unit remains inoperative and requires service by an infiniti technician. to prevent this condition, infiniti has initiated a voluntary service campaign to replace the audio finisher circuit board on these vehicles. use infiniti net to confirm if a specific vehicle is affected by this service campaign (p3104). *tr

The system controlling the ac and the radio completely stopped working and there is no longer any way to control it. all the power windows quit working as well. with so many reports would be nice if infiniti took some responsibility and addressed the issues. *js

My audio and climate control system have completely stopped working. i have no control of the rear or front defroster which is a serious safety hazard. infiniti issued a recall for the problem however my car wasn't covered even though it is the exact same problem. *tr

The audio and temperature controls do not operate as expected. when using the audio equipment or the temperature controls, the unit becomes inoperative.there is already a voluntary service campaign for this, however infiniti told me that our car's vin number does not qualify even though it's the exact same situation and identical year/make/model of car. *tr

While driving my car the radio completly cut off and the air conditioning came on at full blast... i cannnot control anything on the dash such as climate defrosted or turning the darn thing off. it is a safety concern because it was raining and my window were all fogged up and i couldnt clear them. i could not see out of my front or back windows. i have read many complaints online about the samething some will be hurt if infiniti doesnt do anything to resolve this. i have no clue to why they havent recalled or recalled only a few of this car to fix the problem.it seems to be the norm. if you call the dealearship they will only charge you a mint to replace the part that will only break again. please help before someone is hurt or killed. *js

The radio and a/c controls became inoperative on a 2003 infiniti g35 coupe. safety issue is the inability to use defroster or rear window defroster as necessary. a search of the web indicates that hundreds of people have the same problem. infiniti recalled some 2003 sedans for this very problem, but no coupes. the coupe uses the exact same system as the sedan in terms of radio and a/c controls.. this recall identifies a circuit board as the culprit, and the board was replaced free for some 2003 sedan owners. this is a real problem with potentially deadly consequences. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2003 infiniti g35. the contact stated that none of the gauges on the instrument panel functioned. the vehicle was not taken to have the failure diagnosed or repaired. the manufacturer was notified and offered no assistance. the failure mileage was 105,000.

Tl* the contact owns a 2003 infiniti g35. the contact stated that while driving 5 mph, he approached a stop sign and the vehicle stalled. there were no lights illuminated on the instrument panel. the failure caused the power steering and the brakes to fail. the contact let the vehicle sit for a few minutes and the vehicle restarted. the dealer was notified and stated that the failure was due to the engine sensor and it needed to be repaired. the manufacturer was not notified. the failure mileage was 97,000. updated 7/12/12 *cn the consumer stated the a/c and radio haven't worked in years, due to a burned out circuit board. updated 07/18/12

Tl* the contact owns a 2003 infiniti g35. the contact stated that upon starting the vehicle, he was unable to access the central instrument panel. the vehicle was taken to the dealer. the dealer stated that the failure was due to the audio finisher circuit board. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was contacted and stated that there was nothing they could do to assist. the failure mileage was 70,000 and the current mileage was 81,000.

The audio and temperature controls become inoperable because of a known issue with the audio finisher circuit board. my temperature was stuck at 90 degrees at maximum output, with no possible way to shut it off. there was a voluntary recall for 2003 g35 sedans with this issue (infiniti recall # p31040), but not for coupes. from online research, there appears to be numerous cases where the same issue has occurred on 2003 g35 coupes, but infiniti refuses to accept responsibility for repairs, because the vin #'s were not part of the original recall. i believe this is a safety defect that constitutes a recall for any g35 model with this known issue. *tr

Infiniti g35 ac and audio panel not working, as thousands of others are experiencing. cannot drive the car in inclimate weather due to the inability to control the temperature or engage the defrost so i can see out the windows. very dangerous - threat to my safety as well as other drivers around me. it's the audio finisher circuit board that has failed. the dealer just wants to install a new radio. either of these repairs will be at my own expense. unable to get infiniti consumer affairs to assist in any way whatsoever. vin not covered under the voluntary recall campaign - falls just out of range. every one of these cars have the same faulty components. unclear why only a select few vins were recalled. thousands of us have complained. why is nothing done about this issue? *tt

The radio will turn off by itself and turn back on a few seconds later. all of the buttons in the center console become inoperable. the a/c controls also become inoperable and turns on by itself. it just doesn't turn on though, it turns on 90 degrees and starts blasting out. this is a safely issue because as a driver we never know when this air is just going to start blasting out at us like fire. if infiniti is smart enough to recall the sedan, they should do the same thing with the coupes. it is clearly a common problem among the '03-'04 models. if they want to keep their reputable name they will do what is right. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2003 infiniti g35 coupe. the contact stated that all of the controls on the instrument panel failed. the vehicle was taken to the dealer who advised replacing the electrical wiring for the instrument panel. the manufacturer was not notified of the failure. the vin was unknown. the failure mileage was 110,000.

The ac/heat controller stopped working. the ac was stuck at full, at 60 degrees which created mist on all of the windows. i was not able to turn on the defroster which made my driving dangerous. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2003 infinti g35. the contact was driving 45 mph when both the air conditioning unit and radio powering on and off intermittently. the vehicle was taken to the dealer. the manufacturer was notified, but the vehicle was not repaired. the failure mileage was 80,000 and the current mileage was 84,000.

Tl* the contact owns 2003 infiniti g35. the contact stated that the air conditioning system and the electronic sound system failed due to a defective circuit board. the air condition would not blow cold air and the radio could not be turned on. the manufacturer was contacted but denied assistance with repairs. the vehicle was not repaired. the failure mileage was 251,300 and the current mileage was 251,900. updated 04/23/12

Buttons of a/c and infotainment control panel (audio board) in center console does not work. also there is no display of infotainment system. illumination still works and dimming as well, radio control via steering wheel switches still work. due to a/c can not be changed or controlled, front defroster or rear defroster will not turn on. nissan/infiniti dealership noted "replaced audio board per service bulletin. radio did work but then stopped. replacement of audio board is 1st step, if problem continues audio unit must be replaced." they replaced "audio board" to correct the issue as service bulletin recommended but it did not correct the issue. reman-audio unit costs $1997 at dealership. *tr

I've recently been having issue with the engine where the car stalls. the car start fine when i do a cold start but when the car warms up the car stalls at times. i've been hearing a lot of the stories from other people on different forums where this is a common issue for this model. the culprit are either the throttle body which i had already replace three years back, the 2 cam position sensors and crank position sensor. i recently found out that there is a recall on the cam position sensors and crank position sensor. i'm hoping that my vin# is part of that recall. the second issue i have been having with this car is the radio and temperature control. that i recently had changed with the factory radio attached to the temperature control. the radio would stop working. i have no control over the temperature control and the ac unit would turn on by it self. i recently just installed an after market radio. with everything after buying what was required to do a double din conversion and installation. it cost me a good amount of money. another issue this car has is the seat belt issue. it doesn't retract properly and the passenger side it's a chore just trying to put on the seat belt. *tr

First, the cd player stopped working. then the control panels to the radio and thermostat stopped working. then the defroster for the windshield stopped working. now the battery is not functional - the engine has to be jumped so the car can be started. *kb

Like thousands of other g35's, my vehicle's radio and air conditioning controls have become unresponsive. the panel's light goes off and none of the buttons work. the air conditioning unit resets itself to 75 degrees and auto climate, which promptly ramps up and goes full blast, with no way to turn it off. this problem also drains the battery while the car is off. before i was aware of this battery draining, i was at a gas station at midnight in the freezing cold, when the car would no longer start. i was never told about the problem by infiniti, and they did have a recall for this but for a very small range of vins. according to my dealer, this is one of their most common jobs and non-warranty covered repairs will come up to $1300. searching online reveals many threads with hundreds of posts about this very same issue. apparently getting the repair may not solve the problem and it may resurface 3-4 months later. this should be recalled, as it could potentially be very dangerous. i'm lucky i don't live in an area where there is snow or freezing temperatures. you can get stuck out there with no battery. *kb

Tl* the contact owns a 2003 infiniti g35. the contact stated that the radio failed and the air conditioning could not be turned off. the failure would not allow the contact to turn the heat on either. the dealer informed the contact that the failure was caused by the radio failing because the radio controller was connected to the heater and air conditioning. the failure and the current mileage was 136,000.

Infiniti has completely left behind owners of the 2003 g35. they had a voluntary service campaign to fix the 'audio finisher' but all they did was put a band-aid on the problem. they only fix the problem once, then the problem continues to happen about once a year. they obviously did not set up the radio/ac controls properly when they originally made the car, which is exactly why you won't see this problem with the 2004 model. now all they say is that it's my problem to get it fixed. this is a severe safety issue for some people, because we cannot use the defrost. infiniti tries to charge about $1000 each time this problem recurs. it is ridiculous and sad to think that they expect us to pay this fee about once each year while we own this car. i would not be surprised if someone has already died from a car accident because they could not turn on their defrost in adverse weather conditions. *tr

My infiniti car's(g35 2003) radio/ac controls have failed. i can only operate the radio from my steering wheel control.( cannot operate the ac/heater. luckily it is winter time and is stuck in auto mode at 68 f) it seems that infiniti had a recall for audio controller card failure in 2003 -itb03-007b service campaign -voluntary service campaign 2003 infiniti g35 sedan; audio finisher circuit board for about 26 000 vehicles, but, based on no of complaints floating on the web, there are lot more cars which are facing this problem. prior to this problem i have had the cd error fo problem ( complete cd failure). infiniti has installed faulty radio/cd system and they have taken their customers for a big ride! the nhtsa should take this up seriously as this failure could potentially can be fatal , especially when driving in extreme conditions-hot or cold weather , with small kids/infants, in an isolated region. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2003 infiniti g35 sedan. while driving approximately 35 mph, the contact noticed that the defroster stopped functioning. the contact had the vehicle inspected by an independent mechanic who stated that the radio and the audio control unit, which controled the hvac unit, had to be replaced. the vehicle was not repaired. the approximate failure mileage was 87,000.

Windows fail to operate (open or close) - defective electric motor confirmed. radio cannot be turned on. ac cannot be turned off - it stays on constantly at max ac setting and maximum fan speed. cd player will not turn on. this has been reported by numerous owners of infiniti g35's. the radio, ac and cd problems are linked together, as it appears to be due to a widespread failure of an audio finisher circuit board component. the manufacture has issued a voluntary service campaign for a very limited number of vehicles manufactured through august 21, 2002. it does not cover numerous vehicles that present with the exact same fault manufactured after than date. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2003 infiniti g35. the contact stated that the a/c audio circuit board failed and the defroster, air conditioning and heater were inoperable. the instrument panel lights would also fail once the failure occurred. the vehicle was inspected by a dealer and they advised him that the a/c circuit board would need to be replaced. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was contacted and they offered no assistance. the failure mileage was approximately 56,800. the vin was unavailable.

My radio and dash goes out and my a/c comes on full blast with preset temperature and i can't do anything to turn it down or turn it off. infiniti dealer said the radio control unit controls climate including a/c. dealer said a radio circuit board was malfunction or defect. infiniti said there was no recall. i'm really scary to drive in winter when i need defrost on and need to control climate. i heard so many infiniti g35 owner has same problems. *tr

Electrical problem w 2003 infiniti g35. a/c turns(full blast) and radio turns on and can't turn off. center consolecontrols inoperable, front and rear defrosters (safety hazard), radio and a/c. kearny mesa infiniti, service advisor stated computer circuit board (ccb) was recalled and replaced, will cost $900+ to repair. classification: el03-003 reference: itb03-007 date:february 13, 2003 voluntary service campaign audio finisher circuit board important :this service campaign bulletin supercedes technical service bulletin itb02-52. campaign i.d. # : p3104 applied vehicle: 2003 g35 sedan (v35) applied vins: vehicles built between jnkcv51e*3m000014 - 02662 on some model year 2003 g35 sedans manufactured through august 21, 2002, the audio and temperature controls may not operate as expected. when using the audio equipment or the temperature controls, the unit may become inoperative. *tr

The defroster, ac/heating system, radio, and selected lights on the dashboard fail randomly, causing the windows to fog in certain weather conditions, making it quite hazardous to drive. the system will automatically turn on, then the fan cycles to higher speeds about every 20 seconds. the heating/air system will become completely uncontrollable, rendering all defrost controls inoperable. during this time, the radio display turns itself off, and all controls on the face of the unit are disabled. the stereo can still be controlled by the steering wheel controls. all button lights remain off, while the center display, located just below the windshield, remains on. there has been a recall for the sedan version of this year/model vehicle for the same issue. the following is the service campaign number for the sedan recall: itb03-007. *tr

When i turned on the bose radio, the air conditioner went on full blast and the whole control panel went out. i was entering the freeway and this caused a dangerous situation(no speedometer, defroster, etc.). needless to say, without use of defroster, this situation can be fatal! i have read the edmunds forum regarding this issue(and also nhsta complaints) and this problem seems to be quite common. apparently infiniti recalled some 2003 models(made before june 2002) but since mine was made in nov. 2002 it is not included. the fix i have read about costs $1500-$2000(and some of these have failed again with no more help from infiniti). your help in getting every 2003 g-35 recalled and fixed permanently would be appreciated.

2003 infiniti g35 audio finisher circuit board failure. failure occured july 2011. audio finisher board issue identified in 2003 infiniti tsb campaign id p3104 / itb03-007b voluntary service campaign (auto finisher circuit board). was told my vehicle / vin not covered. dealer repair was $900. audio system and enviromental controls inside car disabled. if this happened in winter could have resulted in defroster / visibility issues. *tr

The problem is as follows: a/c will be stuck at full power, and entire center console does not function, but after turning car off & then on, problem would disappear. i have no power in the center console, and the a/c blasts continuously. the center console controls include the front and rear window defogger controls, which are useless now. *tt

The third brake light on the rear window deck fails to work intermittently creating a situation where vehicles following may not realize that our vehicle is braking. this creates a concern for my safety as well as my childrens safety. this is a very frequent problem with infiniti vehicles of this make but infiniti will not acknowledge the problem.

Im currently having trouble with my center console losing power to my ac and radio. the problems range from center console display shortages, ac blasting at full strength and being unable to change the setting, to the radio intermittently putting out sound. this problem has led to safety issues with the car in that the inability to control the ac results in fogged over windshields leading to poor visibility. i've read online that this problem affects many owners of the same car. it was such a problem that infiniti recalled the '03 g35 sedan for the exact same problems. it is embarrassing that inifiniti does not stand by their product across the board. if they acknowledged that it was a problem in the sedan why are they not responsible for fixing the same problem in the two door model. would like to know how this problem may be remedied. *tr

Intermittently, the electrical panel that controls the a/c, radio fail to operate. none of the buttons in the control panel work, all lights are out. it has gotten progressively worse, to where it turns offs just seconds after starting the car. cannot control defrosters. huge safety issue. the a/c resets at 71 degrees with fan blasting. *kb

No specific event. climate control panel failed in ac "on" mode at 70'f. cannot turn off. cannot access defrost/rear defogger buttons. creates unsafe vehicle as lack of defrost/defogger prevents driver from seeing clearly in certain weather conditions. no radio controls. understand a common problem. *tr

Front and rear defogger do not work because of loss of function for a/c and radio control panel. i had to pull over in a rain storm because windows fogged up. my 2003 g35 infiniti has 78500 miles. *tr
