Recently reported POWER TRAIN problems on 2010 Ford Fusion

I purchased a 2010 ford fusion with 24,000 miles in january 2011. i began having issues with transmission almost immediately. the transmission will frequently "slip" while taking off and shifts very hard at times. i will also "slip" when driving at higher road speeds causing the rpm's to rev but the car will not accelerate. recently, i was driving approximately 50 mph on a busy highway when the car stalled and the wrench light came on. the engine was running but the car would not accelerate. once i got pulled over, the rpm's bounced up and down rapidly. the car has been in the shop approximately 9 times so far. they replicated the issue once and transmission repairs were made but the issue continued. it is still under warranty but ford will not authorize any additional repairs since they haven't replicated the issue again. i just learned that this is a common issue with the ford fusion and that the 10b15 recall was performed on the vehicle just before i purchased it. after additional research, findings indicate that the recall has not corrected the issue in many cases. i do not feel safe when driving this vehicle and it is very disappointing to learn that ford will not take appropriate actions to provide reliable vehicles to their customers. *tr

Vehicle has problem shifting gears, slows down, then it starts to go. i have taken it into ford 3 separate times, a recall was done on the vehicle for a computer chip, again had the vehicle into service in 09/2011 for the same issue. the vehicle has 34,000 miles on it and attempt to replace the rear brakes...driver rear side had no pad left, checked the three other brakes plenty of pad. surburban ford service desk told me because my car was green metallic, not covered in latest recall. i looked at the recall notices and it is absolutely the same problem i've been complaining about from the first month i purchased this vehicle! *kb

2010 ford fusion sel. customer writes in regards to continued transmission problems.*smd the consumer stated the transmission would slip harshly and hesitate on acceleration. the recall repair did not correct the transmission problems. it was determined that the valve body and solenoid body were defective. also, one of the tires was leaking air, there was an issue with the traction and brakes. there were noises coming from the front of the vehicle. the steering wheel would not lock into place, the cd player did not work at times, the driver side visor did not stay in place, the gas over flow tube was inoperative, the vehicle would pull hard when the brake was applied. the rear driver's side door had to be slammed extremely hard, in order to close it. the driver's side seat belt was backwards. the passenger side windshield wiper dragged on the windshield and the vehicle would sometimes surge on its own. each time the consumer went to the dealer about certain problems, she was told no problems were found.

Tl* the contact owns a 2010 ford fusion. the contact was driving approximately 55 mph when she noticed that the vehicle was jumping gears abnormally. the vehicle was also exhibiting an unusual increase in engine rpms and loud roaring noise. the contact stated that the failure would occur whether sitting idle, in park or in drive. the vehicle was inspected by the dealer who informed the contact that they were unable to diagnose the problem. the vehicle was not repaired. the failure mileage was approximately 14,000.

Vehicle shifts unusually between 2nd & 3rd gear and 3rd & 4th gear. the condition is worse in wet and/or cold weather. on top of the regular malfunction of the gear shifting, on three separate occasions the vehicle has slammed between gears creating a "rear end crash type feel" to the passengers inside the vehicle. the dealership claims that the car shifts properly in comparison to "like" vehicles which makes the unusual shifting condition "normal" to the 2010 ford fusion. *tr

My car had 2 problems. first, was the powertrain transmission. it's the same situation as what others described, but my car started malfunctioning on the month we bought new and less than 100 miles. i don't have the specific miles and dates because i'm recalling from 2009 and it's now 2013. when i tried to change the gear from drive to park is when i first noticed the problem. i felt a sticking on the gear and a slight awkward movement of the car. i told the ford service department where i bought it in elizabethtown, ky. not sure when, but not right away and they didn't do anything. then, a few months later, the car seem like it's changing gear on it's own, but i was on a flat road and have not touch the gear shift or not push the gas pedal any less or more, or braked. it did this a few times, so i took it, but again, the dealership did not do anything. then, later, i made a right turn to a highway with heavy traffic, but clear when i entered. my car accelerated for a second, then just wouldn't accelerate anymore, and a car got pretty close. finally, it went. i took it as soon as i can to a dealership in columbus, ga. because an accident could have happened and was scary. but, they only checked the computer system. nothing was done. then, same scary thing happen on the highway again and again. finally, i took it in 2012 and told them they have to fix this before we get into an accident. finally, they fixed it after many times of trying and before an accident occurred. it was diagnosed with transmission problem and have not had any problem since 8-1-2013 at around 37,000 miles on it. this time it's the throttle assembly, but, they fixed it right away here in hawaii. this time it just loss acceleration while driving on the road. thankful that my kids and i made it safely on the side of a busy intersection. *tr
