We have classified the 777 complaints from 2010 Ford Fusion about POWER TRAIN into the following categories.
The 2010 ford fusion will, at random, lose power. accelerator is non responsive and the throttle body/transmission indicator light comes on. it begins to idle rough at approx. 1000rpm and will not respond to the accelerator. i've had the car for just over 1 year and this incident has happened dozens of times. it has happened while at freeway speeds, as well as trying to accelerate from a stop light. i've had numerous close calls and literally fear for my safety while driving the car. the dealership claims to not be able to replicate the problem, however as soon as i've picked it up from them its done it within several miles, only for me to take it back to them and get the same response a week or two later. ford needs to solve this huge problem by issuing a recall and they needed to do it last year. i've literally seen thousands of people in forums with this same exact problem, yet nothing seems to be done about it. it's almost as if the only thing that will open ford's eyes will be a serious tragedy to occur. isn't the point of a recall to prevent that from happening? *tr
The transmission does not shift correctly. the engine will rev up and the transmission will shift hard when it shifts. especially when going up hill or under heavy acceleration the engine my red line before shifting. *tr
When we took it in for normal service of oil change the technician brought out the transmission dipstick to show that it was as black as the oil. we had it changed for over $120 . the car is shifting much better than when we bought it but the owners service manual states that it should not be changed until 60,000 miles. we feel that it should be handled and covered by the dealer. *tt
The powertrain has suddenly caused major problems. my car will no longer reverse and more importantly as far as safety is concerned, the gears may sometimes not engage while accelerating causing the car to rev up the rpm's without moving forward. *tt
While driving down the interstate, the fusion began to jerk and shake due to the transmission slipping, causing the car to lose its speed very quickly, almost causing a wreck. the dealership ended up having to do a complete transmission overhaul at only 13,000 miles. the problem came back around 20,000 miles and the dealership said it needed its codes reprogrammed. the problem persisted and around 70,000 miles, the vehicle began doing the same thing. again while driving on the interstate, the car's transmission started slipping and the vehicle shook and jerked. now the dealership conveniently recommends a new transmission, now that i am outside of my warranty at a cost of $4,000! this is a very dangerous situation and having a newborn child in the vehicle makes it even more alarming. i do not feel safe in this car and strongly feel that ford needs to make its customers whole by recalling the transmission components entirely. *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2010 ford fusion. while driving approximately 35 mph, the vehicle began to jerk, shake and decelerate abnormally. the contact shut off the vehicle and after restarting, was able to drive without a failure. the vehicle was not taken to the dealer for diagnostic testing or repairs. the approximate failure mileage was 28,000. updated 02/15/12*lj the vehicle was taken to the dealer on dec 28th and was returned to the consumer the next day. the dealer was unable to diagnose the problem. the second time the incident occurred. the dealer was able to pull up code from the vehicle's computer, which stated the throttle body needed to be replaced, along with a new battery. updated 02/29/12
I have a 2010 ford fusion s, i was driving home for christmas break when my car shut off and had no throttle response. i didn't drive the vehicle for like five days and the car was fine but it started back up in janurary and again in the beginning of march. it has a code of p211 which is the throttle body issue. i have done some research on the problem and multiple ford fusion's are having the same issues as i am. for some reason ford is trying to avoid hearing the issue on the fact that they have faulty throttle bodies. it is a saftey issue when you are traveling down the highway or interstate at 60-70 mph and all of sudden your car no longer has a throttle response. you have to pull off the road shut your car off and restart it. this doesn't fix the problem it just does it all over again within the next mile or two. ford should realize the issue and make a recall for the throttle body. there are people throughout the united states that are paying between $400-$600 out of their pocket if their car is no longer under warranty to fix a common problem that people are having with ford fusions. *tr
Unknown or other in this case would likely relate to "power train" and/or "electrical," but definitely relates to public safety. the ignition tumbler releases the key in any position--park, neutral, drive, or low--rather than in only park. drivers of cars with manual transmissions are accustomed to setting hand brakes using gears. prior the the date of incident above, i recall moving slightly forward on a slight slope, and i simply applied the hand brake to avoid putting more strain on drive components. after a dead battery (due to lighted dash gear position indicator) and a jump start, it was days later that i realized that the key had been removed with the car in gear. the ford dealer and ford motor company say repair consists of replacing the shift assembly (includes sending unit which has no "output") at a cost to me of $487.65 + tax. they claim this is not a power train issue and that my "cpo" expired less than a month earlier, this on a ford "certified" car. public safety is involved because a rolling car can cause havoc. *tr
Lost parking function on the transmission. parking function is missing causing the vehicle to move after i park the car. didn't realize until after i parked my car. was walking towards the building that i noticed that the car was rolling back and had to run back, unlock the car and then push the brake. after investigating realized that the "p" function was missing. did hear a huge clunking noise when i tried to park in the first place. this is a safety issue and action needs to be taken to address this issue and make ford provide an explanation for the 2.5 l 6f35 transmission. the dealer diagnosed the vehicle with a bad transmission and the parking pawl broken inside the transmission. it was necessary to use parking brake to keep the car steady during parking. *tr
My car is equipped with the 6f35 6 speed automatic transmission and has been experiencing lingering defects. i took my car in to a ford dealership in late november 2011 and notified them of transmission problems. my invoice reads, reprogram pcm to latest level and reset fluid level per tsb 11-11-23. the problems continue. i will admit that the flaring problem has improved, although the remaining problems persist while the overall feeling of transmission degradation seems to be accelerated. my trans. continues to struggle and feel worn out during low end acceleration. an inspection of my vehicle from a professional mechanic discovered burned up clutch material within the contaminated transmission fluid. he showed it to me, and i saw it with my own eyes. the dealership i was just at wasn't able to find any burned up clutch material in my fluid or the left front axle half shaft seal leak which my mechanic also discovered upon his inspection. i find it very fishy that these 2 problems automatically disappeared by themselves, it seems to me that the field service engineer from ford made repairs to my vehicle while it was in his or her possession during the defendants legal inspection for my lemon law suit at elder ford in troy, michigan. what ford did to my car was illegal, a defendants inspection allows for observation only, not repairs. i continue to experience very hard abnormal shifting while driving in city conditions and an uncontrollable forward lurch/jolt while driving in city conditions which is extremely unsafe. sometimes i will have a delayed engagement into drive. the shuddering vibration coming from the front end of the vehicle after driving the car for a short while continues. i continue to have an intermittent problem dealing with a burning oil or greasy smell coming through the air vents. the abnormal high pitched humming drone sound continues. *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2010 ford fusion. while driving approximately 55 mph, the vehicle decelerated abnormally. the contact stopped the vehicle and shifted into park as the vehicle began to shake vigorously and stalled. the vehicle was taken to the dealer for diagnostics and stalled a second time on while in route. the technician was unable to diagnose the failure because the computer was not providing a failure code. the failure recurred three times. the third time, the vehicle was towed to the dealer and the technician advised that the computer was not reading a failure code but the electronic throttle body would likely have to be replaced. the vehicle was not repaired. the approximate failure mileage was 43,000. updated 03/02/12*lj the consumer stated the rear window, weather stripping on the doors, and door handles had to be replaced. the consumer stated there have been numerous problems with the transmission. updated 03/08/12
While driving on the interstate on cruise control at 70 mph, the car lost acceleration/power, the wrench light came on and we had to coast to the shoulder of the interstate. came to a stop, and the car idled, but appeared to want to die. car was shutoff and restarted. wrench light went off. we continued on our way without further problems. this is the second time this has happened within a two months. brought the car to the lander's ford dealership in collierville, tn after the first time it happened, but was told they could not duplicate the problem. nothing was done. based on previous reports, this is a common issue and is related to throttle body defect. as noted by others, this power failure is a safety concern and could lead to a serious incident. *tr
Pulled into parking slot of townhouse complex. before i could shift into "p" the engine raced and surged forward into a building. i was stunned. $4600 damage to my car. $7000 damage to building. i told the service manager at dean sellers-troy where i bought the car that something was wrong every time i took it in for an oil change. he said everything was ok. when this accident happened i had it towed to crest ford in centerline, mi. they insisted it was not a mechanical failure. approx. 2 months later the service manager, [xxx], called me and said they found the problem. the wiring harness to the airflow was misfiring. (dean sellers replaced one just a few months earlier). [xxx] told me to bring it in and they would replace it at no charge. in the meantime my insurance company paid over $11000. my insurance rates are sky high and i have absolutely no confidence in the safety of this car. i'm nearing 72 years old and it took me 3 weeks to write this complaint because i relive the whole ordeal all over again. i drew money out of my retirement account to pay cash for this car thinking i would never have to worry about car problems again. now i'm stuck with a car i'm afraid to drive. information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6). *tr
The transmission fails to shift from 2nd to 3rd gear at the proper time which results in the car stuttering later as the problem worsens the car starts hesitating to accelerate and then hard shifts which jolts the car. this problem progressively gets worse with incidents becoming more frequent and with harsher jolt that feel like your car is being rear ended. permanent damage will occur. since the problem occurs at lower speeds it could be hazardous when pulling on to the road from a parking lot or crossing the road to and home or place of business and when accelerating from a stop light. *tr
1 bought a ford fusion in aug. 2011 used w/15,000 miles on it no problems with it until after i reached 32,000 miles the transmission slips and the wheels sound like its going to fall off , it somes seam to jump out of gear while driving and starting and stopping . i took if to a ford dealer for oil change told service tech about this he said nothing wrong with car never took for test drive. i did some looking on-line there are a lot of people saying same thing. i read about a re-call on transmission called dealer brought car from said they didn't get notice . sent e-mail to ford no reply. can not get answers from no-one . i have young children i don't want to be driving down the road and have wheels fall off or transmission fall out. this seams to be getting worst . *kb
I have a ford fusion with about 35,500 miles. i bought the car used with about 18,000 miles and noticed inconsistent shifting right away. then progressed into not shifting back into gear right away after shifting out of reverse. i took it in and they reprogrammed the transmission and the service supervisor said that this transmission adapts to the owners driving habits. took it in again about a month later and they said the fluid was low; they weren't sure why just filled it and sent me on my way. third time i took it to a different dealership. they had to pull the transmission and replace parts, which took almost a week. it seemed okay at first but now is displaying the same issues as before of not shifting into gears when accelerating. the problem was not fixed and i am left with a vehicle that also had a heater motor replaced that were making a whistling noise, floor heat that barely comes out, car alarm that goes off even when all the doors are unlocked and bright lights that just randomly come on. i don't know if its a lemon, but i smell disaster in the next couple of years! wish ford would do the right thing and stand by its product. *tr
My wife was turning left into a parking space in a parking lot at 2mph or less when the vehicle suddenly accelerated at high rpms. our vehicle slammed into the vehicle to the right of the space my wife would have entered. heavy damage was caused to our veh. and to the parked veh. my wife was unsure if she had caused the acdt or if it was a mechanical defect. because of the very heavy and rapid acceleration, i didn't think it in any way was driver error. after it was repaired, our 2010 fusion was checked out by a ford dealer and nothing was found amiss. a year later in nov. of 2012, i was driving the car at approximately 50mph when the engine suddenly revved up about 150 to 200rpms. this didn't cause any great acceleration but, considering my wife's experience, i immediately shifted to neutral. just as i got into neutral, the engine revved up to 2500 to 3000rpms. had the car been in drive, a collision could have happened or i could have lost control. ford was contacted, car inspected, again nothing wrong. a service writer tried to tell us that the rubber floor mat was on the accelerator pedal. the mat doesn't gain weight to suddenly depress the pedal all by itself! ford's great lakes regional manager was not very forthcoming-she wasn't apparently aware that there were youtube videos of 2010 fusion owners filming their dashboards as their cars did the same as i have described above. the car is being driven regularly but both of us have a hand on the gear shift alot of the time. considering our experiences and the youtube postings, i think ford is trying to avoid an expensive recall. didn't toyota use the floor mat excuse for years? *tr
I was stopped at a traffic light, it turned green and stepped on the gas pedal and the car immediately started to rough idle, the wrench indicator lit up and would not move forward. there was minimal response to throttle input. i was able to pull off the road out of traffic to a safe spot. i left the car running to see what was going on. the tachometer was fluctuating mainly downward as it idled rough. after about two minutes i turned off the motor. i made a few phone calls and while calling roadside assist decided to try and start the car. it started and i went straight to the dealership. as fate would have it, the dealership could not duplicate the concern and was not able to pinpoint the cause. they were kind enough to suggest replacing the throttle body and motor assembly. it cost me $512.38. needlessto say i am not at all happy with this issue. this issue could have occurred in a more dynamic setting, heavy traffic, lane change or merging, etc, potentially causing threat to my life and that of others. this issue needs to be addressed by the manufacturer in my opinion. *tr
When driving the vehicle the throttle body fails putting the car into "limp mode". acceleration is impossible and the car will stall while attempting to safely pull off the road. after a single search online for "ford fusion throttle body" numerous instances of similar failures appear beginning in approximately 2005. the vehicle will lose all ability to accelerate but maintain electrical power until the vehicle stalls. this occurred to me while traveling on the highway at 75 mph and is extremely unsafe. the problem is so widespread that the local ford dealers maintain a stock of throttle body units to replace. the risk of an accident very high because of the possibility of stalling out and losing control of the vehicle. *kb
My 2010 ford fusion has 65,000 miles on it and we bought it new in oct. 2009. sept 29, 2012 i was driving down the freeway when it made a noise then the wrench light came on and there was no power. i pulled over and the car died then i restarted it and it drove fine the rest of the 30 mile trip. since then almost every time it's driven it does the same thing and it doesn't seem to be at any particular speed or matter how long it's been driven when it happens. i'm very concerned that it will cause an accident because sometimes when it has happened i've had a hard time finding a place to pull over. i even tried putting it in neutral and shutting it off then restarting it and the only way it will resume power is by pulling over and shutting it off then restarting it. i've called ford customer service and was told to get it checked out as soon as possible. today i'm picking it up from the dealership after 2 days and the mechanic cannot duplicate the problem and there is no code showing that the wrench light came on. luckily the dealership isn't charging me for checking it out but ford customer service told them that if there is a problem they won't take care of it because the car isn't under warranty anymore. after reading all the posts from people with 2010 ford fusions having the same problem i am very upset with ford for not doing anything about this. i'm surprised there hasn't been any serious accidents and is that what its going to take for them to recall the problem. my fusion even did it on the way to get it checked out, but i was too far to not restart it, so on my way home if it does it i won't restart it, but have it towed right back to the service department. from what i've been reading the only way they can get a code to show up is when the wrench light is on. i am really starting to dislike ford, because they obviously don't care about their customers. *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2010 ford fusion. the contact stated that while driving, the wrench warning light illuminated on the instrument panel and the vehicle was resistant to shifting gears. a local mechanic diagnosed that there was a throttle body defect. neither the dealer nor the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the vehicle was repaired. the failure and the current mileage was 54,500.
I own a v6 2010 ford fusion and on two separate occasions, while driving on the highway at approximate speeds of 65 mph the engine has stalled without warming. at the time the engine stalls, a service light will come on and the car completely shuts down. in both instances, the car could be restarted, and the service light disappeared upon restart. we have taken it to the dealership after both incidents, and they are unable to identify a fix as the service code is not being stored in events of engine failure (and the light is not staying on after restart). this is an extremely dangerous situation as it has happened without warning, while traveling on major highways at high speeds. i have seen entries from other owners on both the nhtsa site and other blogs sitting the same problem, yet ford is unwilling to accept that this is a pervasive problem and is not working to find a solution. we have escalated from the dealership up to the corporate ford customer service department with no success. *tr
Defective throttle body causes car to lose power. *tr
When i was driving my 2010 ford fusion the wrench light came on and the car lost all power and stalled out. luckily i wasn't in front of a truck or on the freeway. very scary my car only has 15391 miles on it. this car was also leaking oil. i am not happy with this car. when i took it to the dealer this problem didn't show up at first so the service person kept the car longer and finally it did the same thing and lost all power so they replaced the throttle body and replaced the the gasket that was leaking oil. also a few months earlier one of the coils went bad and had to be replaced. *tt
While driving down the interstate in rush hour traffic, my 2010 fusion (35,265 mi) lost acceleration. jerked car into the median and put into park, it immediately began idling very rough and almost sputtering to cut off. the wrench light displayed. i cut the car off and let it sit for a moment and then cut the car back on. i pressed the gas and the cars rpm shot up to over 5000 rpm. it then idled normally and i merged back in traffic just hoping to get it to my office. i made it another 2-3 miles and it did it again, this time both the engine light and wrench lit up. i immediately cut it off, restarted it and it seemed fine. i decided to get off at the exit i was close too and park the car as i knew i was going to cause a major accident if i did not get it off the road. i came to the top of the exit ramp and sat in traffic for a few minutes, the car seemed okay, no rough idle nothing strange except the engine light was still displayed. i merged into traffic off the ramp and in the middle of the road same thing occurred, no acceleration, i had my foot to the floor. i got it into a parking lot and called the dealership. i had the car towed in got a loaner to drive into work. the ford dealership called about an hour later and said the car is fixed and i can come get it. they said their was an issue in my electronic throttle body and they have replaced the throttle body. i love this car but at 35,000 miles i should not have already had a bad battery and now this issue. i am starting to not trust the car. i hope the issue is fixed, but i am almost scared to go pick it up tonight. i had no idea of these issues until i looked it up online after the this morning. *kb
Car shifts extremely hard into reverse--feels like transmission is going to drop out of the car. does not accelerate properly; feels like accelerating in a higher gear when starting off. does not seem to shift gears when driving. shifts hard when changing from reverse to drive. also feels like transmission drops randomly when driving at high and low speeds. car has been into the dealer on 4 separate occasions over 9 months and problem still isn't fixed. *tr
My 2010 ford fusion has had issues for the last month with the lack of accelerating with the check engine light and the wrench light coming on. took it to advanced auto with a code of p2112. took it twice to the ford dealership with the first time the dealer telling me nothing. this happened again while i was driving through an intersection with my two kids in the car and lost almost all power and was nearly hit by an 18 wheeler. dealer said that the throttle body needs to be replaced, will cost me $520 dollars and it isn't covered under my power train warranty. thousands of reported problems with this very same problem with ford not being held responsible for faulty equipment...something needs to be done before someone is hurt or killed. *tr
When car is driven for the first time or car has had a few hours to cool off the transmission hesitates to shift from 2-3 and 3-4. usually seams to slip from 3-4. *tr
Traveling on the street at about 40 mph, car shuddered to a stop. engine light came on. had car towed home. car started the next day. carefully drove the car to the ford dealer. they replaced the throttle body. the throttle body should not be failing at 60000 miles. this should be a recall. *tr
On september 30th i was driving home and i had only driven less than a mile at approximately 35 miles per hour when the wrench light appeared on my dash and my car quick moving. i was able to get it to move about 1 mile per hour so i got the car off the road and shut it off. it was dark and i was alone. i was going to call aaa for a tow and i decided i would try to start the car and see what would happen. the wrench light was gone and the car was moving like nothing was wrong with it. this happened again on oct 5th and oct 7th during rush hour traffic and both times i was fortunate that i was able to get out of traffic to avoid getting hit both times my speed was approximately 45 mph. i have taken the car to two car repair shops and they can not find any thing wrong with it when they connect it to their diagnostic machine. from september to current date the car has done this at least another 10 times. sometimes the speed may be at 55 or 60 miles per hour. i did contact the local ford dealer and i wrote a letter to the ford company neither party has done anything to help me. there is a defective in their product. the local ford dealer suggested it may be value body and throttle body issue. i continue to drive the car to work and back waiting for it to break down or to be killed in an accident when it quits in the middle of a busy highway and i am unable to get out of the line of traffic. so much for the commercial "number 1 most dependable car in america ". my ford fusion sucks. *tr
I previously sent a complaint because my car kept stalling, wrench light would come on, but when i turned car off then turned on, it would run, but then they couldn't get the codes. based on my internet research, looks like 2010 fusions are having this problem between 30,000 and 50,000 and it is always the throttle body that needs to be replaced. the dealership would not replace the throttle body because the codes were not coming up. i just wanted to give you an update, i purchased my own code reader and after my car died in the middle of the road (very dangerous) three more times, was finally able to get the code myself. i brought it to the dealership and with the code they were finally able to look it up.....and it was the throttle body....just like i told them since every 2010 ford fusion between this mileage is have the same problem. since this is obviously a defect on this car and is dangerous because car stalls in middle of traffic, it needs to be recalled! i don't want anyone to go through what i went through, and i would love to get reimbursed for the money i had to pay on fords defect. thank you *tr
While driving my 2010 ford fusion down a very busy main road in atlanta, it died. i was lucky that i was able to get over into the right hand lane without being able to accelerate and get onto a side street to park. the dealer replaced the throttle under warranty, but less than a month later i was getting on a busy freeway here in atlanta. about the same speed, 45mph, it wouldn't accelerate, but this time it did continue running. eventually it picked up again. it is currently back in the shop having the transmission corrected. ford did issue a recall last year which was supposed have corrected this issue, and i did take the car in for the recall when i had only had it for 30 days. that was over a year ago, and it has "skipped" between 2nd and 3rd gears the whole time which has made me uneasy, but eventually became the norm. anyway, the recall did not correct the issue. my fear is that when i am unable to accelerate, or when the car simply shuts down, i will be rear ended and cause a serious car accident involving others as well as myself. this is my first american brand car and i want to love it, but feeling unsafe driving it is making it difficult. i want this on file because although i have a warranty on my car, i think ford should be correcting the issue for all ford fusion owners since our safety is at risk. *tr
When i go to shift from 1st to 2nd, 2nd to 3rd, etc, it seems like the car is not registering the change in gears. as soon as i shift and attempt to continue accelerating, the engine will rev up too fast and then drop down and rev up normally. *tr whenever i attempt to use cruise control, going up a hill cause the engine to rev to quick again, shutting off cruise control. my car is 10 months old with just 23,000 miles (5700 of which were on it before i bought it) and the dealership i took it to is trying to tell me that it's normal wear and tear, and that the clutch and clutch plate need to be replaced. they're also saying it's not covered under warranty and that it will cost me $1300 + tax to repair. i don't drive this car hard, nor do i do any type of racing or mods to it. it's a car i use for work mainly. there is absolutely no reason the clutch should have to be replaced so soon. there are numerous sites with this same issue with similar fusions. point is, i'm not paying for this repair. *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2010 ford fusion hybrid. the contact stated while having an oil change the mechanic noticed the front right axle nut had come loose. the contact spoke to the dealer who stated there was nothing they could do since the warranty had expired. the dealer installed a new axle nut. the contact stated that was a manufacturers defect that could cause the tire to disconnect from the vehicle and cause a crash. the failure mileage 37,571. updated 10/14/11 *bf updated 11/02/11
Car stop responding to accelerator, just coast along wrench symbol came on dash. picked up car today paid 200,17 for repair got 4 miles away from shop car stopped again. *tr
Severe transmission slippage when trying to accelerate. engine rpm's increased rapidly but vehicle did not speed up. caused a near collision when trying to cut across several lanes of traffic. *tr
My car has went out 3 times in week twice on the freeway with oncoming traffic. it slows down then a wrench symbol comes on. i purchased my vehicle 3 weeks ago. took it back to the dealer and was told by the service dept that i need to have the throttle body repaired,. they ordered the part and said i need to pay $100 deductible. i just purchased this car i shouldn't have to pay anything if it would have been checked out correctly i wouldn't have had this problem. they also told me i need a new battery!! three weeks after i purchased it!! this should have been replaced by them for free, they said i would need to buy a new battery and it would be $109.00 more plus the deductible. i am very disappointed in this car. i love the way it looks but am so unsatisfied with the performance. if i get into an accident i hold ford co completely responsible for any damages, as i see they have had many complaints and they are not doing anything about it. i am looking into an attorney because this car should not be sold if it has this defect, it is putting peoples lives in danger!! what are they waiting for to see how many deaths will occur before they let people know not to buy it. i plan on telling everyone not to purchase i ford. i should have purchased a honda/like before. *tr
Selling / servicing dealer began advising of carbon build up in throttle body ~15000 mi. ~20000 mi with cruise control engaged engine lost power, service engine soon light and throttle control / transmission light both illuminated, vehicle rough idled. shut off engine and restarted after ~ 30 seconds. engine ran normally. read/cleared dtc p2111. reported to dealer on 07 sept 2011 but was unable to diagnose any problem. problem has been intermittent since. due to battery failure prior to 35000 mi service (19 nov 12) engine codes were lost. dealer performed induction service. after 40000 mi service (24 may 13) had multiple instances of the above failure with dtc p2111 with increasing frequency. on 8 june 13 had 3 occurrences at vehicle speeds of less than 45 mph with one at less than 25 mph while accelerating (entering traffic). vehicle was diagnosed by a different deal with a failed throttle body requiring replacement. *tr
There was a recall on the 2010 ford fusion transmissions. i took the car in on 12/31/10 to automax ford, killeen, tx. they told me that nothing was wrong with it and it is fine. on 3 august 2011 my car felt like it did a downshift while going down the highway. at this point my accelerator fails to work. the car is not in any gear and even when i give the car gas the engine will not rev. i then have to come to a complete stop and put the car in park. while in park the car idles really heavy like and stuttters to keep going so i have to turn the car off. when i turn the car back on it will turn over about 6 or 7 times before it starts. i have to do this process every time the car does this which has been about 6 times in the past two days. the incident happens on the highway and in regular city driving. i believe automax ford has failed to do the inspection right and now the recall letter is expired as of april 2011. i was also deployed overseas during that time period of expiration. *tr
This problem is due to a faulty transmission or transmission components, as outlined by ford recall 10b15. the car jerks/slips and it feels as if the gears are not catching upon acceleration. i received the 'recall' letter from ford describing this program, and immediately brought the car to the dealership. they preformed the module recalibration and told me everything was fine. however, 40,000 later, my transmission started exhibiting the problems described above and ford is now replacing my entire transmission, although not paying for the rental car. *tt
The automatic transmission in my 2010 fusion se shifts erratically in the low gears. the vehicle is still under warranty so i took it to the ford stealership. i had pulled the transmission dipstick and noticed that the fluid was greyish black colored. they told me that the fluid was supposed to be that color. i asked them to get a brand new quart of the mercon lv fluid, and proved it was a dark red. i talked them in to replacing the transmission fluid for free. i swear the dealerships lie through their teeth to keep from doing anything for free under warranty. the vehicle still shifts funny; in the first two gears it feels like it slips even though it really isn't slipping. its just a choppy shift of gears. they said the way it shifts is normal, however, when i asked them to put that in writing and sign it, they wouldn't do it. the response was "it has a 60k mile power train warranty." way to change the subject! appears to me that ford and its crooked dealerships are quick to sell you a car, but slow to take care of you after the sale. (if they take care of you at all that is.) i think mike rowe should tell people this on the ford tv commercials. *tr
While pulling into traffic, my ford fusion lost power, would not allow me to accelerate and started thrusting forward and jerking and the wrench warning light came on. i coasted to safety, put it into park, turned the car off and waited about 30 seconds, turned the car back on and the wrench light was gone and the car seemed fine. four days later, the same thing happened again. i took my car to a ford dealership, they told me they couldn't get any codes and had me come and get it. about two miles down the road, in middle of busy traffic, it happened again. i was lucky enough to get to safety, i called the dealership and they told me to drive it back. they still could not get it to duplicate the problem, there were no codes being thrown, so they told me to come and get the car. i told them about the numerous online complaints i found online about this problem and every time, it was a bad throttle body. he said they can't just replace the throttle body until they get the codes. he told me to drive it until it dies again, turn the car off but not back on and get it towed to them, then maybe they can get the codes. i am scared and feel unsafe driving it. looking at past times it died, it was while driving for a while, then shut off then ran shortly after. it seems to only be an issue with the 2010's, and always happens between 30-40 thousand miles, and it's always a bad throttle body. i can't even tell you how many complaints i read online and i personally know of two owners that had the same exact problem. obviously it is a design defect that needs to be recalled/repaired. i am scared and feel unsafe driving a car that i am just waiting on dying; i have never been placed in danger with a vehicle like this. no one should be required to drive in middle of busy traffic just waiting for it to die so they can try and get a code. *tr
While driving down a very busy road at 45 mph, my accelerator cut out, reducing engine power to idle and causing me to almost be hit by 3 different vehicles while trying to find a place to stop. i had my wife and my infant son in the car. this was unacceptable for a vehicle this new! the maintenance light (wrench) came on..but went off after i shut the vehicle down and restarted, to which the car then ran normal. i then had it accelerate uncommanded, at that point a shut it down and had it towed to the dealership. i am waiting to hear what they say about it. 37,000 miles seems terribly low to be having these types of "issues" it is a 2010 ford fusion se 3.0l, and i am not happy! *tr
Ford 6f35 transmission has "dead spots", jerkiness and hard shifting since i owned the car. at 56,500 miles, transmission fluid was found to be leaking from the drive shaft axle and that had to be replaced under warranty. the transmission in this car is defective and should be replaced. *tr
Just starting off from a traffic light the car started to stall. the car was towed to montrose ford where they determined a part in the transmission failed. the part was ordered and replaced a few days later. on the 16th of september while driving the brakes failed. the car was taken to ganley ford on the 19th of sept. they initially determined it was a transmission problem, exactly the same problem that was repaired in august. on the 21st of sept. the maintenance people drove the car with a computer connected to analyze what was happening but found nothing wrong. now they say the problem is hydraulic related but will need to keep the car for at least 30 days to solve the problem. at this time they have no idea what is really wrong. inside the car is an intermittent noise. it can only be heard when just starting out or at very slow speeds. ganley ford has no idea where this noise is coming from. *tr
While driving the transmission slipped and made the care downshift and upshift the car hard. i had to apply the brakes hard because the rpms where jumping as i cam to a complete stop. then when accelerating the car shifted hard. *tr
While driving on the highway, my 2010 ford fusion suddenly slipped gears on its own. the car started to slow down. i was stepping on the gas pedal, the engine was turning but the car wasn't accelerating. i was nearly rear ended. i managed to coast to the emergency lane. i put it in park and turned the car off. i was afraid to continue but thought i would give it a try. the car started ok and accelerated normally. the next week, my husband had the same experience. my husband took the car to ford dealership the next day. the dealership called and told us that they can't duplicate the transmission problem and their computer tests did not detect any problems. i told them of the numerous complaints i found online about this problem and that i didn't feel safe driving my car. they said they haven't heard of any complaints nor any tsbs on this car! i sent them a link to this website and told them to read it. will they still say nothing was wrong because their computers can't duplicate it? or do they think i like being without a vehicle and wasting everyone's time? *tr
Throttle body went bad on my 2010 ford fusion v6 after only having 45,000 miles on it. on vehicle not even 2 years old; a part this important shouldn't fail. *tr
The wrench warning light comes on in my 2010 ford fusion most of the time it is after it has been driven for awhile then shut off and restarted soon after but yesterday it happened as i was driving the car loses power will only go about 35 mph no matter how far you push the accelerator when trying to ascend a steep hill it would only go 10 miles per hour. *tr
Driving on the west virginia turnpike at 65-70 mph when the rpm's jumped above 4 and lost all power to the engine. the engine was still running but had no power from the gas pedal to the engine. pulled to the far right side of the road as i was going up hill into the truck lane and then eventually on to the berm as the trucks were now running faster than me going uphill. it was the most dangerous driving situation i have ever been through. i was able to locate a ford dealership on the turnpike where i could leave the car for the necessary repairs. the repairs took a total of 25 days. ford would not provide me with a loaner car as i bought the vehicle used and therefore no rental coverage even though the issue was a known issue due to faulty parts and a poor initial repair by ford. i had to rent a vehicle in west virginia in order to complete my drive home and had to drop the rental in columbus. $185 + gas + deposit and resulting nsf fees in my checking account for a 12 hour car rental that ford would not cover. upon getting my vehicle back it ran smoothly until october of the same year. i took my vehicle to a national chain oil change company who advised that they could see transaxle fluid all the way to the back of the underbody of the vehicle. i took the car to my local ford dealership who found that the repair completed in west virginia did not get the pan sealed properly and the fluid was leaking from the faulty seal, which they repaired but it took them 14 days to do so. fast forward to may and another hard shift with a lurch forward and then no power from the gas pedal to the engine. took it to the local dealership who could find no error codes and could not duplicate the issue. 5/13 - mother's day and it happens again but this time the engine light is now on and the car runs rough. taking to dealership again tomorrow. *tr
