Tl* the contact owns a 2014 ford focus. the contact stated that while attempting to drive, the vehicle started to shutter and hesitated as if it was losing power. the vehicle was taken to the dealer. the technician diagnosed that there was an intermittent transmission clutch shutter. as a result, the clutch plates needed to be replaced. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure. the vehicle was not repaired. the failure mileage was 33,000.

The vehicle has went into reverse on 3 occasions while the gear stick selector is in the drive position. one incident it went into reverse, striking a pedestrian causing injury. on another it went into reverse while on a freeway, then came to a crawl and stopped. ford sent out their field service technician and said that an engine crankshaft seal was leaking (in addition to the clutch seals that had been replaced for leakage earlier). the dealer says that these leaks are common and cause the transmission to exhibit erratic behavior, including going into reverse. according to the ford dispute resolution department, they could find no abnormal codes in the computer of the car - which could be a whole other defect in itself. ford refuses to provide me paperwork on the technician's report/review of the vehicle and cannot guarantee that it will not happen again, nor will they verify that the fixes are safe. ford was "unable to duplicate" the transmission going in reverse during their 7 mile test drive. a person at the dealership's service department told me that they try not to drive the cars very far and with a cold transmission so that the issues are not prevalent and cannot be duplicated and they will not have to diagnose anything. they also verified that they have a lot of issues with these vehicles, and with ford in general trying to authorize repairs. i feel that something as serious as this should not have to be "duplicated" in order to have a fix looked into. i wish we were able to form a petition with the nhtsa to file a formal investigation into the safety practices of ford and the safety of these particular dps6 transmissions. search ford fiesta 2011-2014 and ford focus 2012-2014 on the nhtsa - they are all made with the same transmission technology. i have filed a lemon law complaint with my state, who seemed very frustrated with ford.

Previously, due to the transmission shifting into reverse while the gear selector is in "d" drive, i backed into a female pedestrian hitting her and almost running her over. there are still scratches from her rings on my back bumper. ford has performed numerous tsb's and recalls to "fix" the issue. upon the most recent tsb and recall update, i was promised it would take care of any issues, including an issue where the vehicle would shudder and search for a gear before engaging and spinning out from a complete stop. after driving it for 30 miles, i noticed the engine running rough, shaking, and slowing down while in idle. i stopped for a refuel. i got back in the vehicle and calculated my mpg's as i always do - only 19mpg, which ford says is "within spec" as long as it is not more than 8mpg off. (the on board mpg calculator shows 22.7mpg - always incorrect). it should be 26city, 36hwy. i placed the gear selector in "d" drive (as was also referenced in the on board screen). once pressing the accelerator, the vehicle's in dash screen flashed that i was in "r" reverse and the vehicle lurched backwards. i braked, then the engine revved and went automatically back into "d." i drove 2 blocks, at a speed of 40 mph in "d," it again switched to "r" revving the engine, then slowed to a stop. i pulled over, turned the engine off and waited before turning it back on. the drive home, it would jump between gears "searching." i let it sit overnight, and today it has not exhibited these actions. i'm uploading a photo showing the car doing 35 in the "r" position with the rpm jumped up to 3500. i was actually going forward. in "r," car should not go over 20mph. this is evidence that it switched mid "d" drive. also, the tires are starting to form pits and has a circumference of separation/splitting which dealership said is "fine." this is causing a vibration and whirring noise.

When the car is at a stop, while the vehicle is warm, when you start to take off the vehicle jerks and does not properly engage the transmission. at an intersection or when merging into traffic the vehicle does not respond properly and cause a danger to passengers and all other vehicles on the road

Tl* the contact owns a 2014 ford focus. while driving approximately 20 mph, the vehicle vibrated and did not accelerate. there were no warning indicators illuminated. the vehicle was taken to a dealer and the clutch was replaced. the failure recurred after approximately one year. the vehicle was taken back to the dealer where the clutch was replaced again. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure and offered to continue to replace the part with discounts. the contact requested a buy-back, but the manufacturer declined. the failure mileage was approximately 2,000.

Tl* the contact owns a 2014 ford focus. while driving 65 mph, the transmission jerked excessively. the contact had to slowly remove his foot from the accelerator pedal to stop the jerking. in addition, the horn and the alarm system no longer worked. the air bag warning light illuminated on and off while the contact was driving. the manufacturer was notified. the vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired. the vin was unknown. the failure mileage was approximately 19,000.

This car's transmission is nothing but trouble. it gets stuck in gear at times where i try to get going from a stop. dangerous at times as i have gotten stuck trying to pull out into an intersection which has been scary. i have also gotten stuck in reverse. this car shutters in stop and go traffic, and has overheated in traffic as well causing me to pull over. i'm fed up and would dig more into it but i don't have the time or money to do so which is frustrating as i am making payments on this vehicle.

Driving downhill at approximately 50-60 mph near payson, az, the transmission suddenly revved to 5000 rpm and my acceleration was limited. i had to slow down significantly before the transmission reached the correct gear. the car also shudders and the transmission is unpredictable and jumpy at slow speeds (driving through parking lots and residential areas). acceleration is often delayed and jerky. this issue has become progressively worse over time. a google search for "2014 ford focus transmission issues" reveals numerous complaints and media coverage of this ongoing issue. please force ford to recall these defective transmissions.

When stepping on the gas the car does not go. it hesitates then goes forward shifts hard and the shudders. took back to dealer and they reprogramed the computer, drove over 1000 miles. now i have taken back to dealer and it will be 6 weeks before parts come in. worried about getting in a wreck.

The 6 speed dual clutch transmission is becoming very troublesome over past 3000 mile.it shudders when taking off and grinds when shifting gears.it sometimes gets lost between gears when shifting down and will lung when it finally catches gear.i do have an appointment with my local ford dealership in regards to this issue, but everything i have read concerning this problem does not sound to encouraging.sounds like ford is in denial over this issue but the problem with this transmission has been going on for 5 years. its time for ford to do the right thing by either coming up with a permanent fix or recall these cars.

I have had my car now for 18 months and it has been in and out of the shop for clutch issues the clutch has been replaced now twice and they updated my computer trying to fix the clutch as well. my car is still not running properly. it has a rough idol worse than what it was before i got my clutch replaced yesterday and it jerks when starting out ( this jerking is not bad right now because i just had the clutch replaced but its still there) i have requested this vehicle to be bought back multiple times and i get a no and they wont tell me why and dont return my emails. i have just requested another buy back and waiting on a response. thanks for your time and i hope you can help me out.

I have a 2014 ford focus se hatchback. it was bought brand new in september 2014. i was back at the dealership on september 17, 2015 with 17,000 miles because of the shuddering &, hesitations coming from the transmission while driving, stopping, and accelerating. my clutch was replaced on october 15, 2015. i was back to the dealership on january 8, 2016 and again on march 10, 2016, for a "computer reset". the jerking, shuddering, grinding, and stalling have yet to cease and it's becoming more of a hazard & extremely stressful to drive the car on a daily basis. i have to drive 100 miles a day round trip for work. the serviceman at mike reichenbach said it would never be more than 80% due to the type of clutch in the transmission is for a straight drive vehicle. as of today my car is just as bad as ever if not worse, i have been fortunate so far as not be in an accident, but looking for it to happen anyday with the issues in the transmission. i fear for my safety every time i have to stop for any reason because of this stall, hesitation and sometimes slow on acceleration.

Tl* the contact owns a 2014 ford focus. while driving at a low speed, the vehicle hesitated and did not immediately change gears without warning. the failure recurred. the vehicle was taken to brandon ford (813-246-3673, located at 9090 e adamo dr, tampa, fl 33619) where it was diagnosed that the clutch needed to be replaced. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure and stated that the vehicle was out of warranty. the vehicle was not repaired. the failure mileage was not provided.

2014 ford focus jerks on take off when accelerating. dangerous in wet conditions. numerous times have been taken to dealer and finally have had a clutch replaced and issued persisted. dealer said this condition is normal and still happens everyday.

Tl* the contact owns a 2014 ford focus. the contact stated that the transmission jerked between first and third gear. the vehicle was taken to a dealer on more than three occasions where the failure was undetermined. when shifting gears into drive or reverse, the vehicle independently surged. the brake pedal was depressed with force when the failure occurred. the dealer stated that the clutch assembly and the transmission control module needed to be replaced. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 20,000.

September 10, 2015. 2014 ford focus se. transmission slipping, grinding, hesitating and making loud noises.very unsafe driving conditions. had the ford dealer service department look at it and they made an update to the programming. it was worse after this so i took it back the same day. it was even worse after they worked on it the second time. i ask if i could leave it with them until they could fix it and the service advisor said, "my mechanic says there is nothing wrong with the car so there is nothing i can do. i ask if he had driven the car and he said he did and noticed the issues i was talking about but ford says that is the nature of this transmission.

Tl* the contact owns a 2014 ford focus. while driving 15 mph, the transmission completely failed without warning. prior to the failure, the transmission fault warning indicator illuminated. prior to the failure, the vehicle was repaired per nhtsa campaign number: 13v523000 (power train) by webb ford (9809 indianapolis blvd, highland, in 46322, 219-924-3400). after the remedy was performed, the failure continued. the contact called the same dealer and was informed that the failures were normal and that the vehicle needed to become accustomed to the contact's driving patterns. since owning the vehicle, the contact had taken the vehicle to be serviced for several transmission failures at several other dealers including river view ford (2200 us-30, oswego, il 60543, 888-994-1003), art hill ford lincoln (901 w lincoln hwy, merrillville, in 46410, 219-738-5300), and van drunen ford (3233 183rd st, homewood, il 60430, 708-798-1668). for the recent failure, van drunen ford replaced the clutch. the contact refused to pay for the repair due to all the previous recalls associated with the vehicle. the manufacturer was notified of the failures and did not assist. the vehicle was not repaired. the failure mileage was 15,263.

While pulling from a stop sign, in the process of the dct transmission shifting from 1st to 2nd gear, the engine speed abruptly jumped to 7,000 rpm as the transmission behaved as if a missed shift had occurred or the clutch was slipping. this was the worst such incident involving many missed or erratic/searching shifts that can be disconcerting or dangerous depending on traffic conditions and situations. even though i understand the operational characteristics of the ford focus dct is different when compared to a traditional automatic transmission, the erratic and anomalous operational performance of this design is poorly executed.

The car is unsafe to drive and it has gotten worse since i purchased it new. as i pulled out into traffic the car suddenly lost power requiring me to quickly push the gas peddle to the floor to avoid getting rear-ended. the car only slightly accelerated, then jerked forward into a hard acceleration and sounded like the engine was going to explode. even though i know about this behavior, (and try to take steps to avoid scenarios like this), the occurrence of this behavior it is very regular, (several times a week), yet erratic and unpredictable, meaning i can not take measure that guarantee it will not happen, nor should i have to. i have spoken with the dealership about this erratic behavior only to be told it will get better as i drive it as the transmission learns my driving habits and will adapt. i have driven many cars and trucks for over 40 years and have never had a problem driving any type vehicle. i can emphatically state that this transmission has not adapted to anything. at all. my concern is that the more miles i put on the car waiting for it to adapt, as per the dealer, the further away i get from being protected by any type lemon law. my basic complaint is that this car is unsafe to drive because of the transmission and it has gotten worse since i purchased it new in february 2015. and, i am told by ford to just drive it because this is normal!?!

The transmission problems. the dealership pennyrile ford in hopkinsville ky. has known about this every since my daughter has had the car. yet just patches it up. she bought the car brand new from them. now that warranty is out she has to pay. the transmission has been in a problem in these vehicles i have been told. yet the place that sold the car to her do not take responsible or even ford motor. you can reach her at this number. [xxx] ask for [xxx]. the car was faulty when purchased. in my opinion ford needs to make this right at no cost to the purchaser. its is an on going problem. *dl information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).'*jb

When pulling out into traffic from a stop, i signaled and started to pull out. while pulling out, the car jerked backwards and hesitated. a car behind me was a few inches away from hitting me. due to the transmission hesitating it almost caused an accident. in my 2 years of ownership, i have had the transmission repaired twice and will be contacting the dealership asap for a 3rd repair.

I recently purchased a 2014 ford focus with 33000 miles. immediately the car started displaying what a mechanic described to me as transmission issues. to include, shuttering, delayed response, jolting, hesitating when taking off, slipping, stalling, and going backwards on a hill. this became a real concern when i was turning, the vehicle started taking off, it bogged down, lost power and responsiveness and then jolted. this occurred while in an intersection. the delay was significant enough that the vehicle common towards swerved out of the way. there was no accident but could have gone a lot worse. second the transmission had the same action when passing on the interstate, bogged down after its started going and the person came very close. i just bought this car, and am concerned. i contacted ford, no response. i took it to a dealer phil long ford in colorado springs, they initially said its suppose to do that and its normal. i had to explain the safety issues and what was going on before they would schedule someone to look at it. the first time they will look at it is in two months. now am in a problem, because i either don't drive the car and pay rental costs or drive something that could cause an accident. i just bought this, and i showed it to two people today to try and sell, both experienced the transmission issue. one didn't even offer, the other gave such a price that they could replace the transmission. i feel i'm getting nothing from the companies that are suppose to care about this dangerous issue

Tl* the contact owns a 2014 ford focus. while accelerating from a stop, the vehicle stalled. there were no warning indicators illuminated. the vehicle was towed to fox ford lincoln (2501 n elston ave, chicago, il 60647, (773) 687-7800) where the transmission clutch was replaced three times and the power train control module was repaired once; however, the failure continued. the dealer informed the contact to have the transmission clutch repaired a fourth time. the vehicle had not been repaired. the manufacturer was made aware of the failures. the failure mileage was 63,286.

Tl* the contact owns a 2014 ford focus. while driving between 25 to 65 mph, the "transmission overheated" warning indicator illuminated and the vehicle decelerated. the contact stated that the vehicle exhibited the same symptoms as listed in nhtsa campaign number: 13v523000 (power train). the vehicle was taken to crossroads ford of kernersville, inc (1330 nc ' 66, kernersville, nc 27284, 877-331-8058) where it was diagnosed that the transmission modules and transmission clutches failed. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was notified and did not assist. the failure mileage was approximately 127,000.

I am aware this vehicle is equipped with a dual clutch automatic transmission, though the behavior of this vehicle is outside the bounds of safety and acceptability. the car acts, at random intervals, like a vehicle with a manual transmission in which the driver "popped" the clutch, to cause the drive wheels to spin in place. this ford focus does this, randomly, at traffic lights. i have nearly smashed into the car in front of me four times. also, at the ripe old age of 18,500 miles, the clutch slips, and will need to be replaced (under warranty). this is covered under warranty, but clearly there is a serious design flaw, creating multiple safety concerns in the transmission of this car. in summary, these are: randomly revving high and popping the clutch (think drag racers) and premature wear and slipping so bad i am unable to safely merge into traffic. ford must be held accountable.

2014 ford focus. consumer writes in regards to transmission slips and shudders. consumer states vehicle has manual transmission disguised as automatic transmission. *smd the consumer was advised by the dealer that vehicle was operating as designed. the vehicle was reprogrammed and the clutch was replaced. the failure worsened. the maufacturer was contacted, but did not offer any assistance. *js

Purchased a 2014 ford focus in august 2015, for our daughter who is currently away to college. she states that the car "shudders" all the time when being driven. as a parent this is a huge concern, i investigated the ford focus and it didn't take long at all to determine that there are several thousand others in the same condition, as stated earlier our daughter is away at college so it is impossible for us to take care of this situation now . this is very dangerous as several complaints reports state the car loses excelleration and will stall when being driven. please please help before something really bad happens !!!!!!!!! from what i'm reading ford is refusing to take action, also reported this to simmons/rocwell where we purchased the car and they stated that other ford focus cars that were purchased had tests ran and "no issues" we're determined yet they all reported to have the exact same complaints!!!! i need help as to where do we go from here !!

My car is having a clutch issue. the dealership has confirmed the problem, reports i am on a list for a fix, but the parts are on back order. they have stated that currently, they are fixing (though not always successfully) issues diagnosed in may. dealer reports they cannot state the current problem (that i cannot get fixed timely) will not impact the car/car's performance long term. the car jerks and lurches when shifting gears. i would compare it to a person trying to drive stick shift for the first time or learning but it is an automatic car. it happens a lot, when in motion. i have gotten stuck in reverse and have not been able to move when in reverse. the jerking issues feel like i am getting whiplash.

I filed a complaint under the mn lemon law due to repeated transmission issues on my car. when driving the vehicle it is quite noticeable that the transmission does not shift properly because it causes the vehicle to shudder when shifting. the vehicle is an automatic transmission, but at times it feels like i'm driving a very sensitive manual transmission and will cause a shudder feeling at shift. i have taken my vehicle in to north country ford in coon rapids, mn on 4 separate occasions. the dates were 8/27/15, 10/16/2015, 2/18/16 and 8/21/16. the dealer has been unable to permanently fix the issue and my concern is that this has been a repeated problem with my car and that it could be costly to me in the near future. *tr

After driving approximately 250 miles that day, we pulled into a gas station for gas. once fueled and leaving the car started to bog down at about 5 mph. the gas station exit ramp was inclined, when i took my foot off the break the car rolled backwards approximately 3 feet. the car has an automatic transmission. i was in total shock. getting home the problem grew worse. crossing the ohio river into kentucky, on i-75 south, there is a major hill climb. the car barely made it up the hill, the tachometer needle jumped all around. when i called the dealership they new all about the issue and told me it would be two months before i could bring it in.

Shifting issues with the 6speed automatic transmission. car shifting is erratic when starting from a stop, or traveling in a highway condition. car revs, shutters and stutters. it is very unsafe. i contacted dealership and was told they know about it, but i cannot get my car serviced until 6 months from now. it seems that this issue is getting worse, and while i wait to address issue, i fear that more damage is happening to my vehicle. i may impact more parts on my new car that will cost me money, or worse it will result in a transmission failure which will leave me stranded where i am concerned for my safety, or the safety of a family member. this has been ongoing and increasing since august 2015

Transmission slipping, rough start, grinding noise. vehicle has been serviced numerous time. passenger side front hub and lower arm replaced due to failure of a bearing. vehicle taken in for the slipping/ rough start, the clutch is on back order. was told by the service adviser that approximately 38,000 consumers nationwide are waiting for the same part for the same issue. he also advised that the vehicle will always have this issue from having a duel clutch system, and that ford will not cover any costs past the warranty 36k/50k

Tl* the contact owns a 2014 ford focus. while driving at a low rate of speed, the vehicle hesitated to accelerate and also made an abnormal noise. when the contact applied the accelerator pedal, the abnormal noise grew louder and the vehicle hesitated and shutterd. the vehicle was taken to the dealer twice, but they were unable to provide a specific diagnosis to prevent the failure. the manufacturer was notified and was unable to provide a permanent remedy. the approximate failure mileage was 19,000.

The transmission jerks when starting off and shifting gears. i've had it in 3 times for "software updates" and each time the mechanic tells me that all ford focus experience the same thing and that it was designed that way.

After completing a stop, when pressing gas pedal, car/transmission stutters then jerks forward. i've tried accelerating more slowly and then tried it faster with more gas, but it makes no difference. the car won't accelerate fast enough to safely make turns before oncoming traffic. i've had this new car 11 months.

Clutch replaced at 18k miles due to shuddering, hesitation and rolling backwards on hill in drive. at 38k issues are starting again. several almost accidents when on hill and turning in traffic. purchased a year ago and devalued $10k since.

Tl* the contact owns a 2014 ford focus. the contact stated that while the accelerator pedal was depressed, the vehicle failed to accelerate. in addition, the gear shifter was jerking when attempting to shift. the vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the clutch transmission control module needed to be repaired. the vehicle was repaired however, the failure recurred numerous time. the manufacturer was not notified of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 14,908.

I purchased this vehicle from a reputable dealership in town as a used vehicle but with only 20k miles on it. the dealership refused to let me test drive it on the highway citing dealership rules. everything seemed to work fine. one week after getting car home it began shuddering and failing to accelerate only to rapidly shift gears once it figured out what it wanted to do. when trying to enter highway the car would run through 4 gears before hitting mph causing horrible and sluggish performance. when finally get up to 55 mph or more, the car shutters so bad it is making other parts fall apart and come loose...like the steering and a/c not working properly...i have to go 80 just to get it to reduce slightly. i called up dealer and demanded they repair. dealer reset transmission to factory defaults which fixed nothing. took car in 3 more times when finally they admitted it was a clutch issue and put me on a back order list. i waiting 3 months while having to drive an unsafe vehicle but it finally was replaced. to no ones surprise the car performs worse now then it did. took back to dealer 2 more times, to which i was told the clutch has a 1000 mile break in period. i asked then why didn't anyone say that when i picked it up. spoke with service manager who keeps trying to tell me they can duplicate the problem...i asked why is it i have the problem 100% of the time i drive it but it never seems to happen when you have it.... i even tried demonstrating but they literally just ignored me and said they didn't hear anything or feel anything...i have reached out to class action lawyers for details on how to sue and get car paid for taken back so i can get a safe car....otherwise i have to drive a known safety hazard.

I began noticing issues around 8,500 miles. my car would hesitate when i would go from an idle into gear, surge forward, stutter as i was braking or going into speed, and lastly refuse to change gears as i sped up making me think i was in low gear. i now have to make sure all cars are clear before i make turns because my car will lose power as i make turns, which makes me feel extremely unsafe. i drive my car between rochester, ny and buffalo, ny often and this is quite concerning to me. i took it into the ford service department since i am under warranty and i was told it was the clutch assembly part that is malfunctioning. the part is on national backorder, but should be in a couple days and i should be fine to drive my car as it is now. well i looked up the issue and there is a class action lawsuit because of this transmission defect. i don't feel safe at all knowing i am driving with a faulty transmission, if i get in an accident i am at fault!

the transmission shutters and shakes and doesn't go into gear smoothly. when pulling out into an intersection is very hazardous because it doesn't shift properly to accelerate. it is a constant problem not intermittent. there is usually a loud clanging from underneath the vehicle. it was taken to the ford dealership and the service bulletin was performed which did not help and they ordered a new clutch. with the enormous amount of these same issues i have been waiting 7 weeks for a clutch to come in and it doesn't appear that it will be arriving anytime soon. being a police officer for over 23 years i can recognize this issue as causing fatalities, if it has not happened already. i deal with inattentive drivers on a daily basis and this is a prime recipe for someone not focused and pulling out with a hesitant transmission which would cause a deadly accident. i hope you gather enough information to reach a remedy to this potentially fatal cocktail. thank you for your time. *tr

Transmission issue: failure to shift gears smoothly/appropriately. failure to engage in gear. problem occurs after transmission has reached full operating temperature (approximately 30 min of drive time). vehicle contains 6 speed powershift transmission (electronically shifted manual transmission). initial issue was shift from 1st to 2nd gear. transmission causes vehicle to shudder severely causing partial loss of acceleration as transmission attempts to complete shift. same problem then began occurring in the shift between 2nd and 3rd gears. shifts from 3rd to 4th and above are not affected (at this time). 1st to 2nd shift has become worse now resulting in intermittent power loss (complete lack of acceleration). this is a particularly dangerous situation when accelerating into traffic as the transmission can take up to 3 seconds before engaging 2nd gear. vehicle has been to dealership. tech rode along in the car for test drive. because issue is intermittent and varies and only occurs when the transmission is at full operating temp, at the time of the test drive, the transmission was malfunctioning (minor shudder from 1st to 2nd gear) but the tech stated it was not severe enough that he would be able to attach a diagnostic recorder to vehicle and send the report onto ford for authorization to implement a fix. ford is aware of the issue in these vehicles from the 2012 to 2014 model years (according to the tech and a search of various online consumer complaint websites). ford has a prescribed fix that includes replacing clutches in the transmission and reprogramming and resyncing of the powertrain computers. while this defect has not caused an accident for myself, i fear it is only a matter of time before it does, especially since the problem continues to increase in severity. others have experienced accidents because of this defect.

Tl* the contact owns a 2014 ford focus. while driving approximately 10 mph up a hill, the vehicle shook violently and lost power without warning. the vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the transmission chip needed to be updated. the vehicle was repaired, but the failure recurred. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the failure mileage was 5,000.

When accelerating from a stop the car jerks and shudderes very hard. i live in a rural area and i need to be able to accelerate. the car did not do this for the first 20,000 miles. i took it to dealer and they supposedly reprogramed transmission. this vehicle now lurches forward and shudders. i drive through many highways i am afraid that car will not accelerate enough to get me through intersections. please help with this matter.

Tl* the contact owns a 2014 ford focus. the contact stated that the vehicle experienced failures stalling and shuttering without warning. in addition, the vehicle independently rolled back when operated on an incline. the vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the clutch pack failed and needed to be replaced. the vehicle was repaired; however, the failure recurred. the vehicle was taken to the dealer approximately five times for the failure. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the failure mileage was approximately 21,000. updated 09/22/16*lj updated 10/4/16.*jb

Tl* the contact owns a 2014 ford focus. while attempting to accelerate to highway speeds, the vehicle hesitated to accelerate without warning. the vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the clutch needed to be replaced. the vehicle was repaired, but the failure recurred. the vehicle was taken back to the dealer where the technician informed that the clutch needed to be replaced again. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was not notified of the failure. the failure mileage was 8,000.

Transmission jerks violently at low speeds, dangerous and undrivable.

Tl* the contact owns a 2014 ford focus. while at a complete stop on an incline, the vehicle would sometimes roll forwards or backwards. in addition, the vehicle would occasionally lunge forward. the vehicle would also stall and the lights on the instrument panel and the hazard lights would illuminate. the vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the computer adaptive learning sensor needed to be adjusted. the failure recurred. the manufacturer was notified of the failures. the failure mileage was 21,000. ma 10/2 updated 11/08/2017*cn

When trying to accelerate in the car the transmission shudders and causes the vehicle to stall. the transmission has issues shifting and causing the vehicle to jerk.

The wife complained about the transmission making noises periodically but i never did hear or feel any issues when test driving it. i first noticed the issue myself on 7/2/15 when i was driving. it at the beach on vacation. i spoke with the dealership on 7/6/15 about the issue and a recall i received on the fuel pump and was told they would contact me when the fuel pump came in and to monitor the transmission until then. returning home from a trip the week of 7/28-8/2/15 the transmission started to violently shudder when leaving from traffic lights to the point there was concern if we would get through the intersection without getting hit or struck from behind. we contacted the service dept on 8/3/15 and an appointment wasn't available until the morning of 8/6/15. we did not drive it until we took it to the appointment due to safety concerns and it is now 8/10/15 and we are still without a vehicle. the dealership stated it was having problems but ford wouldn't fix it until it fell into a certain rpm category or totally failed . they said they would reset it and if we have further issues let them know. the service tech told us the transmissions in the focus have had issues due to using a converted manual to automatic transmission and that the system gets "confused" when to shift. we are also told, the six speed transmission learns the operator and if someone else drives it, it gets confused when to shift or what to do and creates failure of the clutch. the issues noted create a very dangerous situation that could lead to collisions at intersection or if pulling out into traffic.
