Tl* the contact owns a 2014 ford focus. while driving at any speed and merging onto the highway, the accelerator pedal was depressed, but the vehicle hesitated and would not accelerate. the vehicle was diagnosed with transmission failure. the vehicle was repaired, but the failure recurred numerous times. the manufacturer was notified. the approximate failure mileage was 21,000. updated 03/29/17lj *cn

My ford focus ev shut down with no reason while i was driving, it happened twice in a week. even after i updated the software. while rebooting took move than one minute, after i tried to turn off everything, the power was still on for a while. *tr

Shudder in first to second gear losing power with engine or transmission; loss of speed and shaking and no accerlation from stop to start; loss of power and auto jumps up and down without going anywhere.

Tl* the contact owns a 2014 ford focus. the contact stated that the vehicle excessively vibrated, jerked, and failed to accelerate at any speed. the vehicle was taken to the dealer for diagnostic testing. the dealer reprogrammed the software and stated that the clutch needed to be replaced. the manufacturer stated that the clutch was on back order and could not provide a turn around time. the vehicle was not repaired. the failure mileage was 10,000.

Car experiences severe shuddering, lurching, and skipping when accelerating from a stop. does not matter if it is accelerating slowly or quickly. it shudders when switching gears well driving. very persistent when leaving stoplights. purchased car in february 2015 and it has had this issue since shortly after purchase. has been in twice for service. first time they said it was normal. when it progressed into a more severe issue they told me to trade it in for a new car.

Tl* the contact owns a 2014 ford focus. the contact stated that the clutch needed to be replaced in the vehicle. the vehicle was taken to a dealer to be repaired, but the dealer had to order the parts. the manufacturer was made aware of the issue. the failure mileage was 19,000.

I have owned my ford focus for about 1 year- it's a 2014 model. i bought the car after i was told it would not have the same problems as my 2012 ford fiesta, which i traded in for a focus after having the transmission completely rebuilt because of transmission problems. the dealer who sold me the car had suggested i go to a ford focus and told me the transmission was different from my fiesta. he clearly was not honest with me about this issue and now, i have started experiencing the same problems ford focus as early as last month; the same issues that led them to rebuild my fiesta transmission, which did not end up fixing the issue. it has begun shaking and grinding when accelerating. it grinds while in motion at speeds below 40 miles per hour. i have been doing research and have been finding that several reports and law suits have been filed with no response. i am filing a complaint in hopes that something will be done about this. it is not ok that these cars are being sold. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2014 ford focus. on several occasions, while driving between 1-45 mph, the vehicle failed to respond when the accelerator pedal was depressed. the vehicle was taken to metro ford (located at 9000 nw 7th ave, miami, fl 33150, (305) 751-9711) on several occasions where it was diagnosed that the clutch in the transmission needed to be replaced. the vehicle was repaired, but the failure recurred. the contact stated that the clutch had been replaced once every year since the vehicle was purchased. the vin was not available to verify whether the vehicle was included in nhtsa campaign number: 13v523000 (power train). the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 3,500. *bf consumer stated current mileage on vehicle 15. also, when accerlerating between 0-45mph the car jumps and backs while trying to shift into the next gear. consistently happens between first and second gear and second and third gear. also, bucks and jumps consistently while decelerating from 3rd~2nd gear and 2nd ~1st gear.*jb

The 2014 ford focus has a problem with the transmission. it lurches as slow speed of less than 20 mpg and it hunts for a gear when passing other cars (50 to 60 mph). the transmission is two three speed manual transmissions shifted electronically and it does not work. i would imagine there have been accidents because if you are not ready to catch the car when it lurches it will run into other vehicles. i have taken the car back to two different dealerships and neither one of them can fix the problem. what i think needs to happen is ford needs to get an engineer that understands how to program the transmission and spend some time working with the shift points. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2014 ford focus. the contact stated that the dealer replaced the clutch five times, but the vehicle continued to shutter, and lurch forward and backward. the failure made it difficult to downshift and apply the brakes. the dealer diagnosed that the transmission needed to be replaced and made no mention that the manufacturer had a service campaign concerning the transmission control module extended coverage (14m02). the contact was to check with the manufacturer to determine if they could provide a remedy. the failure mileage was not available.

Tl* the contact owns a 2014 ford focus. the contact stated that the transmission shook when the vehicle accelerated. also, the vehicle stalled, would not shift into the proper gears, and there were delays with the rpms increasing. the contact took the vehicle to cavalier ford at chesapeake square (4021 portsmouth blvd, chesapeake, va 23321, (757) 488-8311) on eight separate occasions for the transmission failures, but the failures continued. the contact believed that there was no permanent remedy and that the dealer was just performing a patch job each time it was serviced. the manufacturer was not contacted. the failure mileage was 14,086. *as *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2014 ford focus. within two months of owning the vehicle, the vehicle vibrated, jerked, and lunged when approaching a stop. the dealer had replaced the clutch assembly four times, which failed to provide a solution. the manufacturer provided no solution to the dealer and there was no voluntary manufacturer recall. the manufacturer indicated that they would provide a service campaign to replace the part repeatedly. the contact felt that replacing the same oem part was not providing a remedy. the contact was unable to get the vehicle repaired. the vin was not available. the approximate failure mileage was 0. updated 07/18/17*lj *as

Vehicle violently shudders and hesitates unacceptably at takeoff. it requires completely taking foot off the accelerator and then reapplying very slowly. otherwise the car jerks and heaves. i am a slow and cautious driver-i rarely find the need to accelerate rapidly. in either case the same situation occurs. i note that this is a very common complaint for 2011,2012, 2013, 2014 ford focus upon researching the internet.. aside from being annoying, i find this condition is unsafe when accelerating around vehicles and during acceleration when other vehicles are behind me. the vehicle (automatic transmission)appears to shift fine in higher gears for the time being. however, what seemed to be occurring in transition from 1st to 2nd gear now seems to be creeping in between 2nd and 3rd. this is not a case of the transmission simply delaying the shift from 1st to 2nd-it is a highly spasmodic experience. i usually start accelerating and then have to completely take my foot off the gas when the car violently shakes/shudders. this is happening constantly. it is not infrequent, but constant. it usually helps to accelerate very gradually. however, this self imposed remedy is unacceptable and does not consistently solve the problem. please help remedy this awful predicament for those of us unfortunate enough to have chosen to purchase a car from ford. i consider the situation very unsafe. i understand that ford is replacing clutches but the fix is not always solving the problem.

Tl* the contact owns a 2014 ford focus. the contact stated that the vehicle experienced violent jerking and hesitation when accelerating from a complete stop. the failure occurred without warning. the dealer diagnosed that the failure was inherent to the vehicle's transmission. the vehicle had its software updated, but the failure recurred. the manufacturer was not notified of the failure. the failure mileage was approximately 100.

Had the car since august 2014 and over past few months (currently at 19k miles) it experiences a very bad "stutter" in acceleration at low speeds, from a stop, and/or in stop and go traffic. vehicle does not accelerate at first when pressing the gas, and you can feel it stutter several times before the engine power is applied to the transmission and the car starts to go. this is very dangerous.

Tl* the contact owns a 2014 ford focus. the contact stated that the transmission shuttered, the vehicle shook abnormally, and the vehicle would not accelerate. the vehicle was taken to the dealer (cavalier ford at chesapeake square, 4021 portsmouth blvd, chesapeake, va 23321, 757-488-8311) several times, but they could not diagnose the cause of the failures. the manufacturer was notified of the failure and did not assist. the vehicle was not repaired after several attempts. the vin was not available. the approximate failure mileage was 14,000. *tt consumer is still having shaking and shuddering on accereration. this vehicle model is a safety hazard. it has been in 8 times for transmission issues. no vin available updated 10/09/18*jb

Tl* the contact owns a 2014 ford focus. while driving various speeds, the vehicle jerked. in addition, while starting the vehicle, it hesitated. the contact mentioned the vehicle was sluggish and jerked when the accelerator pedal was depressed. the vehicle was taken to fox ford of cadillac (1450 n mitchell st, cadillac, mi 49601, (231) 775-3448) to be diagnosed. the vehicle was also taken to serra traverse city (1747 s garfield ave, traverse city, mi 49686) where it was diagnosed that the transmission needed to be repaired. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was not notified of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 161,000.

Car miss shifts through the first 2 or 3 gears. it sometimes lurches from stop signs and sometimes just will not go. it has one of the bad transmissions everyone is complaining about and ford service says it falls within tolerance. they took if for a drive in the parking lot only. *tr

We bought a 2014 ford focus new in 01/2015. from day 1 the transmission gave us trouble, it would hesitate and shutter while accelerating causing many close calls of getting hit while in heavy traffic. on one occasion it pop into neutral for a couple seconds before moving. we are afraid to drive this car but don't want to be responsible for someone else's death if we sell it. we gave up on the dealership where we brought it in numerous times trying to get repaired and they would tell us there was nothing wrong with it.

The automatic transmission shudders and stalls causing the car to accelerate eratically thereby creating unsafe driving conditions for the driver and motorists around the driver. ford refuses to admit that there is a problem and continues to sell these unsafe cars.

.car is very dangerous to drive in traffic. transmission is undependable

Vehicle has had a red fluid leak for quite some time. the car has been back to the dealership for this issue many times and currently filing lemon law arbitration. the car has been out of commission for 55 days altogether since it's purchase in january this year due to the fluid leak which seems to be more of coolant than anything else. it is burning oil and or losing it somewhere that isn't visible. it also has had electrical problems with starting as well as the radio clock and presets all resetting after sitting for more than 24 hours. i have had to have the sunroof resales after it had leaked for over two months and the dealership wasn't able to find the leak. the front end makes horrible noises when decelerating. it grinds and whines as if something is about to blow up. i've taken it into the dealer for all of these concerns and only one of them has been resolved fully. i'm very disappointed in my purchase.

Whenever accelerating from being stopped (red light, stop signs, etc) the transmission hesitates and slips before changing gears. appears to happen while trying to shift to 2nd and/ 3rd gear. this has occurred since day one of owning the car. bought brand new.

Many times pulling out from side road onto hwy shudders and sometimes lunges. also when turning this happens frequently. had the clutch inside transmission replaced, had computer recalibrated twice, and last time we took back ford said it fell within their parameters of being ok.

Car surges at take off, long hesitation while accelerating on the highway and clunking noise at stop. there has been a pcm update, tcm update and tcm reset which did not help. then they replaced the clutch in the r/r transmission and after driving 3000 miles it has started all over again.

We have had problems with the acceleration since we bought the car. the car does not change gears cleanly. instead it may hesitate before changing gears, act like it is in neutral with high revolutions and no change in acceleration. we have to play with the pedal constantly to try to make it act normal in changing gears even thought this is an automatic transmission car.

Tl* the contact owns a 2014 ford focus. while attempting to accelerate from a stop, the contact depressed the accelerator pedal and the rpms increased; however, the vehicle hesitated to move forward. the vehicle was diagnosed and repaired. the clutch was replaced and recalibrated, but the failure recurred. the vehicle was taken to the dealer and repaired four times for the exact same failure. the manufacturer was not made aware of the failures. the failure mileage was approximately 6,000.

The vehicle hesitates when driving from a complete stop and going from 1st to 2nd gear. i have an automatic transmission. this vehicle has done this since the 1st week i owned it. the problem gets much worse the longer it is driven. after about an hour of driving is when the hesitation feels more like the vehicle either can't shift properly or the engine is about to die. when there are 4 adults in the vehicle this issue is amplified. i have to take extra caution when entering traffic from a stopped position due to the major hesitation when shifting gears and i am always worried when making legal turns crossing in front of oncoming traffic. lastly my vehicle is gas not electric.

The car sputters, bucks and will not accelerate. this began to happen roughly 6 months after i purchased the car in fall of 2013. it continues to happen to this day. it is intermittent but extremely stressful when driving in heavy traffic or on the freeway. this only happens when accelerating either out of a stop or while try to increase speed. ford has attempted several "fixes" but the problem is not resolved.

Tl* the contact owns a 2014 ford focus. while driving at 15 mph, the clutch slipped to different gears and the transmission failed to engage properly. the contact mentioned that the vehicle shook and made a grinding noise when accelerating. the vehicle was taken to dealer where it was diagnosed that the clutch needed to be replaced. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the failure mileage was 12,500. updated 8/27/15*cn

The transmission has an issue through all gears where it slips. because of this, you can't get power when you need it. passing vehicles and starting from a dead stop at a light or stop sign causes the car to rev until the transmission catches up and applies power to the wheels. there is a two to three second delay from hitting the gas until the power reaches the wheels. the engine works fine because it's revving rpm's and you know the problem is in the transmission because you can feel it slipping like it's a manual car with a bad clutch. this happens from stop to go, and while the car is in motion on a highway or normal street when the speed limit changes from slower to faster. the problem is more persistent the warmer the car is. when i send it to the dealer for the problem they reset the computer and the problem persists after 100 miles or less after the reset. there is apparently no way to actually fix it unless they change the duel clutch system in the transmission out completely and they will only do this if the slippage reaches a certain point. i feel like i have been past that point for a while but the proceed to only reset the computer.

When i am at a complete stop and i attempt to accelerate, my ford jerks rapidly. in order to drive the vehicle i have to press on the gas forcibly in order to accelerate to a normal speed limit. after several attempts to complain to the orginal dealership metro ford on noland road of the issue i was told that it was a shudder transmission problem. the ford dealership will not solve the issue and although they stated they reset the issue they try to convince me that it is normal when in fact it is not. this vehicle is an extreme hazard and unsafe to drive for me and my children. i am afraid it will stall at a busy intersection in the future.

While driving it feels like engine is falling out. the whole car vibrates. like its stalling out when you take off and it takes a long time to get up and going. i have taken the car to lakeland ford for a seal kit that was back ordered 6-8 weeks in 2015 in 2016 i had to have another seal kit also back ordered 6-8 weeks they did transmission module replacement and much more i've taken this car back for the same issue multiple times andhavebeen told it's not a lemon l!

Car was bought new by me in august 2014 with 34 miles on it. at 5,000 miles the transmission began shuttering when accelerated from a stop and now shutters from a stop and when accelerated in motion. the vehicle now has about 14,000 miles on it and it is a normal occurrence for the car to shake and shutter when accelerated.

Ford focus has had transmission replaced, and it still shakes, jerks, shudders, etc. what ford knowingly did is outrageous. i bought my car brand new. this has been an ongoing issue and i don't feel safe driving my car.

Tl* the contact owns a 2014 ford focus. while depressing the accelerator pedal and attempting to drive, the vehicle failed to move. the vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the dual clutch transmission failed and needed to be replaced. the transmission was replaced; however, the failure recurred. the contact stated that the transmission was replaced and reprogrammed three times, but the failure continued. the manufacturer was made aware of the failures. the failure mileage was 11,000.

When i test drive i felt that car feels different. the transmission was a bit different. the sales person told me that it's normal, and car learning me. in my in next half year i start to experience rough, harsh shifting, jerking, grinding noise, vibrations, shuddering upon taking off and stopping. also car was rolling back when driving up hill. i took i took my car to dealership for repairs. they replace clutch and reprogram my tcm module. few months later after repair car start to have similar problem like the previous time plus rough shifting on 1st and 2nd gear, grinding noise. my biggest fear was to rear end car in front on me or get intro accident because car was rolling forward even if you press brake pedal. i took my car second time to the dealership. they kept my car for two days, and they said that that it's normal and they only reprogram tcm. sure thing even after that i didn't see any improvement. car still rolling back hill and have same issues. so i called ford customer center. after two days talking with them on the phone and explaining that my car its not safe to be used on the street, and put my life and other people in danger. i newer signed up for that. ford rep told me that they cant help me and this is the way transmission work. so pretty much i am stuck with pour engineered transmission and a car that its dangerous on the road.

Transmission started shuddering not long after purchase. ford acted like they did not know about these problems even thought we now find that they have been well documented for years. multiple trips to 2 dealerships have not fixed problem. the shuddering takes place while in motion, sometimes driving straight, often when turning. longer trips or hilly terrain exasperate problem. driving in winter conditions ( snow, ice)makes it difficult to tell if it is the tires or transmission that is slipping. very dangerous defect. drivers and passengers feel very unsafe in this vehicle. wondering why nhtsa is so slow in dealing with this problem.

My transmission will slip out of gears lose power while accelerating and stops completely when that happens dealership replaces tcm twice and clutch once but the jerking gears slipping out and sudden loss of power has never been resolved also my a/c lines have had holes rubbed into them from serpentine belt another problem is electrical the sync and radio stopped working at 30000 miles was fixed under warrenty and stopped working again at 70000 miles told not under warrenty any more it is very dangerous because out of nowhere the speakers will crack at full volume startling driver. another problem at 40000 miles a car pulles into my path causing me to slam into the side of there car at 45 mph with no time to stop my airbags did not deploy causing me to smash face of windshield and seat belt was fastened told dealership about this they said the car has a smart airbag that calculates the rate of deceleration of when to deploy airbags not sure how 45 mph to 0mph is not enough deceleration.

2014 ford focus se has a hesitation on acceleration (perhaps transmission or engine computer) that has on multiple occasions while merging into heavy traffic, creating hazardous situation. *mw the consumer stated several reprogram functions were performed by the dealer. the consumer stated frequently, on a cold start-up, when he shifted from reverse to drive the vehicle hesitated briefly as if it was not in the correct gear. *jb

Tl* the contact owns a 2014 ford focus. while at a complete stop, the contact depressed the accelerator pedal and the vehicle jerked and hesitated without warning. the failure recurred on several occasions when the contact accelerated from a complete stop. the vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the transmission needed to be reprogrammed. the vehicle was repaired, but the failure recurred. the vehicle was taken back to the dealer on two other occasions to be reprogrammed; however, the failure persisted. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 10,000.

Jerks at start, heavy shudders 10 t0 20, rpm peaks suddenly; but car doesn't accelerate (rpm drops down quickly and car accelerates) while cruising around 40 to 45 car shudders as if clutch is slipping when trying to accelerate lightly; but during this time the car doesn't accelerate. tried modifying driving by changing easing accelerator when it seems to shift/ when rpm drops for a shift - doesn't help. dealer has reprogrammed and then subsequently changed the clutch assembly and seals. didn't help and caused the problems at higher speeds. will take back to dealer to see what else can be done

The vehicle lurches rapidly after nearly stalling when transitioning between 1st and second gear and it nearly caused me to rear-end a driver in front of me. i have a great fear of this happening again. *tr

The ford focus has had shifting issues since first purchased. ford performed a reprogramming of the computer module, did not solve the problem. ford repaired the clutch and it seemed to solve the problem for a few months. the sluggish shifting reappeared a few months after the repair conducted on battlefield ford (va). took the vehicle to ted britt, ford chantilly va, according to the technician the problem could not be replicated. "ford states that some shifting lag is acceptable" of concern is that i've owned a ford, ranger/fusion/explorer/ ford fusion hybrid, none of these vehicles have this issues with shifting. its ford going to wait until someone gets seriously hurt? *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2014 ford focus. the contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the vehicle jerked and accelerated in excess independently. the vehicle was taken to a dealer. the technician diagnosed that the seals needed to be replaced. the vehicle was repaired however, the failure recurred. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the failure mileage was 11,000. the vin was unavailable.

Automatic transmission. car stutters during when you try to quickly accelerate. when trying to accelerate from first gear into a turn or merging the vehicle loses power and has almost caused me to be hit several times since purchasing it. driving in urban areas is a lot of trouble as you need to quickly get yourself onto the streets but the vehicle fails to perform leaving me having to very slowly accelerate out of first gear as to not have it completely lose power. this transmission is junk.

Vehicle fails to accelerate (even though rpms rise) upon take off until automatic transmission kicks in...it then shudders and fails to accelerate when hill climbing, also note that its an automatic transmission that rolls backwards on any degree of incline. when i brought these issues up to the dealership right after we purchased it i was told this was "normal" for this transmission. it continues to get worse and is becoming dangerous when trying to accelerate through an intersection or on a highway. we are now at 21000 miles and afraid to drive it. brought it up to the dealer again and was told there was a "warning message" about this problem but no recall has been issued.

Vehicle shudders, shakes and hesetates on acceleration. vehicle has also lurched forward when coming to a stop. transmission sounds like it is coming apart and ready to fall out of the car!

Tl* the contact owns a 2014 ford focus. the contact stated that the vehicle experienced hesitation, jerking, and shuttering while being operated at lower speeds. the failure occurred without warning. the vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed as a shuttering transmission. the remedy was not provided. the manufacturer was not notified. the vin was invalid. the failure mileage was approximately 10.

Transmission shudders, slips and has uneven acceleration when the vehicle is in motion at speeds between 10mph to 50 mph.
