On average, the 2017 Ford F-250 starts to “feel” problems with the SUSPENSION and its various aspects after 28 842 miles.

Recently reported SUSPENSION problems on 2017 Ford F-250

Death wobble vehicle shakes violently if a bump in road is hit, requiring vehicle to be stopped to end the shaking, making it dangerous when can't stop in traffic. happened on multiple occasions, with the date listed as the most recent. steering wheel is pulled out of hands while driving.

My truck has had the front end death wobble since the middle of 2019. i have had it in the ford dealership for repair. they replaced the steering stabilizer and told me they added some shims to correct an caster problem.. they returned the truck to me.shortly after that it began to wobble again. i contacted the same dealer to have it looked at again. i scheduled it, but they immediately told me that the next fix would require parts that were not available. so i am waiting on parts that are supposedly 60-90 days out. there are many documented complaints on this same issue and ford will not do anything about the unsafe condition. ford dealers are telling customers that these trucks are not designed to be driven faster than 70 mph or to spend out of pocket money to buy aftermarket parts that are known fixes for the problem. bottom line is my 60k$ truck is still in warranty and a death trap to drive and ford is not aggressively fixing the problem. the death wobble happens at anywhere from 50+mph when you encounter an uneven portion of road like a expansion joint at a bridge. the wobble will not stop until you are below 30 mph. when the wobble occurs it is not uncommon that you loose control causing you to be in the oncoming lane of traffic.

Death wobble. when i hit any rough spots on road, or bridge joints, or road joints at or above 60 mph i get a violent wobble on front of the truck. i have a very difficult time controlling it and have to quickly slow down below approx.40 mph for it to stop. this happens frequently. my truck was serviced for this issue at approx. 20k miles and the issuse subsided for a while but has started happening again with approx 37k miles. this is a very unnerving and dangerous situation when it happens.

While traveling on interstate i-84, i experienced a wobble and steering issue that threw my vehicle from the right lane into the left lane. fortunately nobody was in the left lane. i was travelling approximately 70 mph and hit some uneven pavement and small pot holes. my experience was very scary and could have resulted in serious injury or death. my research of the symptoms closely matches the death wobble. this is very disturbing. my truck is currently at the dealer for an alignment. however, further research show that these alignments can make things worse. i strongly urge that this issue be investigated across the country. somebody is going to die as a result of this issue.

I own a 2017 ford f250 that i bought new and now has approximately 30,000 miles. in august 2019 i was driving with my wife and two young children at approx 60mph on a two lane highway. road conditions were dry and i hit a slight frost heave on a straight stretch of highway. all of a sudden the vehicle started shaking violently and i have very little control. i was able to slow the vehicle down to approx. 25mph before the shaking stopped. luckily there was no oncoming traffic or it could have resulted in a catastrophic head on collision. i have never experienced such violent shaking from a vehicle, it felt as if all four wheels were held on by a single lug nut and i had very little control. i called the dealer immediately and they schedule me for repairs. i later researched the issue and realized that this issue has a name "death wobble" and that it is common in ford trucks. i have not experienced the issue since but i feel this is an extremely significant safety concern and i am honestly very concerned that it may happen again. if there would have been oncoming traffic or icy road conditions that day it could have resulted in a very tragic accident. i just learned of this site to report safety issues or else i would have done it much sooner. it appears that ford has a design flaw that needs to be addressed and i cannot believe they continue to allow this to happen. i am fearful that it is going to take fatalities before this extreme safety issue is corrected.

This truck is dangerous drive drive, while at speeds of 55 mph and higher it will start to shake uncontrollable. it has been in the shop for this same issue less than 5000 miles ago now it has started again. what is it going to take for ford to resolve this issue? how many people need to die before they admit and fix it?

Vehicle experienced an uncontrollable front end "wobble" at highway speed. has occurred 3 times in the past week. 2 of those incidents with young (19 and 24 yr old) drivers at the wheel. seems to occur coming off a bridge onto highway pavement at 60-65 mph.

Violent shaking front tires, axel, up through to steering wheel at speeds of 45 to 65 mph. i was driving down hill when towing a 5th wheel trailer. very unsafe condition, can't steer and breaking is hampered. shaking didn't stop until i was down to 40 mph. first occurrence 12-2018 odometer 39,329. took to ford dealer, they made significant repairs. corrected shaking till 7-14-2019 odometer 42,491. then started shaking violently again.

Driving 50 mph and hit small bump in road steering wheel started wobbling very bad slowed down 20 mph and it stopped

Death wobble

At certain speeds, if you drive over a rough patch in the road, the steering wheel will violently shake, at which time you basically lose control of the vehicle. this can also happen when driving over raised pavement markers. the same thing is true when driving over a bridge with expansion joints. in all cases, the truck's steering can occasionally experience a 'death wobble'. recently, while towing my 5th wheel trailer 'on the highway', i was driving 60 mph down a 6% grade and hit a small rough patch in the road. the steering wheel shook violently. i briefly lost control of the vehicle. at the time, i was traveling 5 mph below the posted speed limit. i was towing a 12,000 pound 5th wheel trailer. i was able to eventually slow the vehicle down to about 40 mph and the wobble subsided. it was the scariest thing i've ever experienced while towing a trailer. the whole time during the wobble, the vehicle was drifting left and right out of control. it happened two more times during the 2 hour trip. it's important to note that it's also happened several times with no trailer attached. i'm not sure what the problem is, but it seems to involve the steering/suspension. the truck has less than 12,000 miles on it.

The front end wobbles violently when you hit a bump or rough road. it wobbles so bad that you have to stop in the middle of the traffic to stop the wobble. took it to todd judy in marmet , wv in july and august, 2019 they told me they can't find anything wrong with it. just drive it until it gets worse. ford needs to have a recall on these trucks due to the death wobble. i just want my truck fixed. it doesn't matter the speed when it start's wobbling you have to stop in the traffic to get it to stop. this is dangerous. july it started on the interstate at 70mph. then coming down gauley mountain at 40mph. then in august it did it again they had it for 3 days and still couldn't find anything wrong but it still does it. we need this problem taken care of before i wreck and kill someone. i've talked to other f250 owners and they are having the same problem. so help us get a recall on the f250's. my wife will not drive it because of problem she is scared to drive it and also ride in it.

Tl* the contact owns a 2017 ford f-250. while driving approximately 70 mph, the front end of the vehicle suddenly began to wobble violently and vibrate after driving over uneven pavement while transitioning from the road to an overpass. the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. barton ford (1600 n. mail st, suffolk, va) and the manufacturer were not notified. the failure mileage was 14,000. the vin was invalid. *tr the consumer stated the truck was repaired by installing a new steering stabilizer and front end alignment, as well as installing a castor alignment bushings. *tr

Pulling a gooseneck trailer with moderate load descending a mountain pass, when applied brakes, front end went into the death wobble and had to come to a near stop. in heavy traffic on level terrain while braking the same thing happens and had to come to a near stop. after unloading ,i tried the same braking on level terrain and had no problem. after unhooking the trailer i tried the same braking scenario and had no problem. the vehicle is unsafe to drive hauling a load ,which the vehicle i designed for

In the past 18 months the steering problem got worse. in the last 6 months i have done alot of research and called the local ford dealers and said they will not repair the vehicle unless i get a recall notice> death wobble is serious. ford needs to fix there problems. please help. shakes like heck and almost wrecked multiple times. 2017 f250 super duty crew cab

Death wobble when hit bumps going freeway speeds. loss of steering and truck shakes violently until speed is reduced to 25-30 mph. almost lost control on a recent vacation while pulling camp trailer.

Vehicle is continually having death wobble issues

My truck shakes at highway speed. i almost crashed monday 5/20/19 because of the shaking. i have taken it to the dealer a total of 3 times as this has happened twice before and it continues to shake. it almost forced me off the highway, it is a very dangerous problem.

Driving on a highway i drove over a bridge at 65 mph, truck started a massive vibration in front. i was not able to steer or brake effectively

Death wobble truck in motion, happens on highways and freeways when going over 65 mph and you hit a bump, shakes and loss of control have to come to stop to regain control. started happening at 17k. informed there was no fix. endangers lives of all on board.

When driving at highway speeds of 65mph to 75mph if the vehicle hits a rough bump in the road the truck will violently shake and bounce up and down pulling the steering wheel out of your hands. this causes a complete loss of control of the vehicle. you need to slow down immediatly in heavy traffic to 25mph to get it to stop. this happened to me twice yesterday on a highway trip from chicago to denver going 70mph on i-76 westbound, may 9,2019. the second time i was almost rear ended by a semi-truck. somebody is going to get killed if ford does not fix this asap. i have dash cam video of this but the file is too large to upload.

Death wobble occurs between 50-70 mph if hit a rough spot on paved hwy. has happened multiple times. have had dealership fix..but only reduced severity.

While driving down the highway at 65 mph i have experienced the death wobble on several occasions while crossing a bridge.the steering wheel about came out of my hands (moving back and forth left to right) and the truck was shaking violently the truck was taken to the dealer where they fixed it. now less than 10,000 miles later the truck is doing the same thing. this time it was both on the highway again and on a back country road doing 45 mph.this truck is going to kill someone if ford cannot come up with a solution. i will not let my kids or wife drive this truck! when it happens on the highway ,i must slow to about 40 mph to regain control. i would hate for this to happen on wet roads!!!! i am not the only one this is happening to! please help us!

At normal highway speed and hit a bump excessive shaking in the steering and/or front end

While driving the truck at the posted highway speed, i hit a bump or joint in the overpass i was driving on and the truck started wobbling non stop. this acted like what i read about on the internet as a "death wobble". it was never sever enough that i thought i was going to lose control of the truck. the shaking only ceased after i slowed the truck down to 50ish miles per hour.

While traveling down the interstate at approx 70 mph i hit a bump and the vehicle's steering became violently erratic, jerking the steering wheel from my hands and the vehicle was shaking as if it was being torn apart internally. i had to slow to almost 10 mph before i was able to regain control of the vehicle. this is the 4th time the vehicle has acted in such a manner.

While driving my 2017 f250 on an interstate at about 65mph, i drove over an expansion gap on a bridge and suddenly the front end of the truck started shaking violently. i fortunately was able to pull over and maintain control of the vehicle. i thought i might have got a flat or something. this was not the case. i have since discovered this is due to a widespread issue of "death wobble" known in ford superduty models. i have had this occur again and am very concerned about how safe this vehicle will be when driving. the only way to make this stop is to slow down and i might not always be able to do that on a freeway. that's a huge safety concern, especially with family in the truck and likelihood of towing a trailer. it is my opinion that ford should do a recall of 2017-2019 superduty's to address this issue.

Death wobble continues to be a problem after dealership replaced worn parts. i have been fortunate enough that it has only occurred on an open road and not a busy highway. i have less than 50,000 miles and it has been a consistent and reoccurring problem for the last 20,000 miles. a recall should be pursued in order to make driving a 2017 ford f-250 super duty safe.

Vehicle shakes very violently at high speeds (60 mph+) when a slight bump in the road is hit. entire vehicle shudders and shakes super hard and the steering wheel twists as the driver fights to retain control while driving at highway speeds. the only remedy is to slam on the brakes and reduce speed very quickly, all the while hoping and praying the truck doesn't roll and you don't hit or get hit by the other vehicles around you, at highway speeds. it is terrifying. ford truck owners apparently call this the "ford death wobble" and i couldn't think of a more apt description. videos circulating online of this phenomenon mirror our experience exactly. ford attempted to fix the wobble the first time this happened to our truck in march 2019 at 20,700 miles by installing a steering stabilizer (see attached document). this helped for a few months but now in november 2019 at a little over 30k miles the wobble is back and worse than before. the truck is currently at the dealership awaiting another stabilizer. but i'm not confident this is something ford is able (or willing?) to properly fix, and i have no confidence whatsoever in this vehicle anymore. i am terrified to drive it above 50 mph. i am terrified to drive it with my 2 children (aged 2.5 yrs and 6 months) in the vehicle. i am filing this complaint in case anything happens to us while we're driving our truck, or in case this has happened to others and the outcome has been serious injury/ death. i have also notified ford of the problem.

At about 60 mph on a highway and driving in a straight line i experienced a violent shaking in the front end which almost sent me off of the road. the only way to stop it was to slow down rather quickly and regain control. the more i research i found it is named "death wobble". it is a very random and dangerous situation and needs to be fixed. i now have a $46,000 truck that i have absolutely no trust in and will not let my wife drive. it has happened twice now, about a week in between and in different locations.

Hit a bump in the road and truck started shaking uncontrollably. think what everybody is calling death wobble, was going around 70 and wouldn't come out of it till i got slowed down to 25. happened 3 days in a row now, wife wont even drive it anymore. this will cause a deadly accident at some point.

Tl* the contact owns a 2017 ford f-250. while driving 65 mph over a bump in the road, the front end of the vehicle vibrated violently. there were no warning indicators illuminated. the contact pulled the vehicle over to regain control. the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. the dealer was not contacted. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure. the failure mileage was 36,000.

At 60 to 65 mph when you hit a bump in the road (going over bridges) the vehicle begins to shake uncontrollably / violently. in two cases i went off the road trying to slow the vehicle down. it will not stop unless you slow down to about 30 mph. in all cases it happened on the highway. typically while trying to merge into traffic while entering from an on ramp. most case the bridge joint starts the condition. this has happened 4 times in the last 2 months.

I have also experienced what is now referred to as the "death wobble" at least six (6) times at higher speeds (70+mph) and once (1) at slower in-town speeds (45mph). ford has replaced my steering stabilizer once (19,000m) and have been waiting on the second one (29,000m) for 4.5 weeks. to get it to stop the first time, i had to slow to 50mph on a busy interstate while the last two times, it has required me to slow down to under 30 regardless of the initial speed (i had to pull off on the shoulder). it is now bad enough i'm scared to drive it on the highway. a local steering shop will evaluate the f250 this next week - they, apparently, have had good success when replacing the stabilizer with an after-market double stabilizer kit along with new front shocks. it is also my new understanding that it could also include other steering components including the track bar, and tie-rods ..... we'll see. the date of the event is the first time i experienced it - it is now the end of january of 2020 and it is still ongoing.

Death wobble as the dealer calls it has been a reocurring problem on my 2017 ford f-250. i have taken it to the dealer and asked them to address the death wobble 3 times in the last 15,000 miles. i am still experiencing the death wobble on a regular, but unexpected, basis. i hope ford will address the issue but i am not pleased with their "solutions" to this problem. it is, without a doubt, a safety issue. the death wobble is violent and out of control.

Death wobble at highway speed.

Ford tsb #18-2268. death wobble. sudden, unexpected and violent front end oscillation when traveling over expansion joint, pot hole or other uneven road surface at speeds greater than 65 mph. event is remedied by slowing down to less than 45 mph.

Front end wheels and suspension vibrates badly when you hit a small rough spot or expansion gap at highway speeds. ford refers to this as steering oscillation, the internet refers to this as a "death wobble"

Condition becoming known as death wobble. have had it happen back in april of 2018. violently shaking of the front end of the vehicle after hitting a minor bump in highway. very scary and life threatening. was supposedly repaired at dealership when it had 17,000 miles. was fine up until two days ago or 3/12/19. the same problem occurred again and is currently at same dealership being evaluated. vehicle is a deadly accident waiting to happen. the pickup currently has approximately 32,000 miles.

2017 f-250 currently has 19,000 miles. 100 percent stock vehicle. has severe shaking of the steering wheel and wheels of the truck on concrete roads at 60 mph. has happened four times now. first time happened when pulling a horse trailer on the interstate. the truck had approximately 17,000 miles at the time. almost caused a horrible accident. was the most violent shaking i have ever felt in a vehicle. i was able to barely get control of the truck. there needs to be a recall. this is a severe safety problem. that will cause accidents. i thought this was a freak incident but has become more common. called the death wobble according to the internet. has happened 3 more times while not pulling anything at highway speed of 60mph and i am scared to drive this truck on highways or interstates.

Severe steering wheel oscillations after hitting bumps or bridge expansion joints with shaking from front end at highway speeds. must slow down to cease

It has happened numerous times, driving 55-60mph the steering wheel shakes violently when it hits a bridge approach.it has been back to the dealer twice, first time they replaced the steering stabilizer at 17,000 miles, started doing it again at approximately 23,000 miles, went back to dealer, they replaced the castor shims the front end, now it has started again at 30,500 miles. i had to brake to get speed down to 30 mph for it to stop, i thought i was going to lose control of the vehicle

Well travelling at 65mph i went over a bridge expansion joint and got what is referred to as the "death wobble". had to slow down to 20mph before it stopped. the truck is 100% stock with 24k miles on it. this is the second time this has happened in two days.

2017 pre owned ford f250 diesel purchased with 10k miles on it. purchased truck nov 2018. experienced 6-7 episodes of "death wobble" at speeds over 60 mph. this issue occurs only at speeds over 50-60 mph when hitting semi rough road. it begins to shake very violently and won't stop even when continuing on to smooth road. only way i have been able to stop it after it starts is to slow down below 50 mph (thereby front loading the suspension by applying the brakes) which is not a safe thing to do when traveling 75 mph on the highway. also, be aware this truck is totally stock from ford. no aftermarket parts of any kind. truck now has about 30k miles on it and i have owned it about 11 months. truck is great in every other way and drives really well in every other way. this death wobble doesn't happen with every patch of rough road, but is more likely the rougher the road is at those speeds. took to dealer ship in aug 2019 and they replaced multiple parts in front end suspension all free of charge. it just did the death wobble again this last weekend 10/12/19. i am scheduled for a 1k mile trip this next week so i will just have to be careful and truck is scheduled for service on this issue on 11/4/19. we will see if anything can be done. but please understand this does nearly cause the vehicle to run off the road. it at least causes it to veer 1-2 feet out of the lane you are in. it's even worse when towing a 5-10k pound load. i have seen many less dangerous items recalled on various vehicles and this should certainly be addressed. someone will be killed one day with this problem. this is not to mention advanced wear of front suspension parts and tires over the life of the vehicle.

Steering shimmy uncontrollably when @ 55+ mph and uneven payment. to gain control of vehicle must slow vehicle back down to 30 mph and rock the steering wheel. after researching this issue on line for f 250 2017 it's commonly known as the death wobble' below requests date this occurred. began @40,000 and progressively gotten worse now occurs daily.

Driving on interstate at 70 mph passed over bump in road, steering began shimmying violently. slowed vehicle down to around 30 mph and steering stopped shimmying

Driving around 60-65 miles an hour on the highway and the vehicle started to shake uncontrollably almost causing me to crash. slowed vehicle down to about 40 and was able to regain control. this is a significant issue that ford needs to address before someone dies. the tsb issued for the ford death wobble problem is just putting a band-aid on the problem and doesn't fully acknowledging that there is a major issue going one here with multiple complaints.

At freeway speeds 70-75 mph, an extreme wobble and shaking took place after running over a little rough pavement. truck had to be slowed down to about 35 mph for shaking to stop. some posts on the internet have called this the "death wobble". this happened 3 times on i 90 freeway in recent trip from tacoma to spokane. dealer is checking out the truck. shaking is so bad that steering control is limited. problem first experienced 3-3-19. truck has 40,000 miles.

On two separate occasions, our ford f-250 started to violently shake in the front end after going onto an overpass on the highway. this is a violent wobble of the front end. it feels like the entire front suspension is going to self destruct. this happened one time at a speed of 65 mph and another time at a speed of 75 mph. in order to get the front end shaking to stop, the vehicle had to be slowed down to approximately 35 mph. during both episodes, the steering wheel was violently shaking and it felt like the front tires were wobbling. the first time this happened, it was so violent that the front windshield cracked. the first episode occurred with approximately 21,000 miles on the vehicle. after that episode, we took the truck into the ford dealership and they replaced some parts in the front suspension and indicated it was fixed. the second episode occurred with about 29,000 miles on the vehicle. we again took the vehicle into the ford dealership and they changed the caster setting on the vehicle to an out of spec condition and told us that the ford regional service rep told them that would fix the problem. after getting the vehicle back from that service visit, there was a vibration in the steering at speeds between 72 mph and 76 mph. the steering wheel would vibrate back and forth at a relatively high speed. the vehicle is at the dealership for a third time to address this newest problem. the vehicle now has right at 36,000 miles on it and is at the end of the warranty mileage. the first instance was approx october 1, 2018 and the second instance was approx march 1, 2019.

My father was driving the truck at highway speeds and all of a sudden the truck started shaking violently, it was very unstable . we have taken it to the dealership many times but the shaking is still there and it occurs at lower than highway speeds now.
