I was traveling on a highway doing approximately 70 mph (speed limit). when i hit a bridge expansion joint the truck started violently vibrating to the point i was losing control of the vehicle. i rapidly decelerated and the violent shaking stopped after i slowed the vehicle to approximately 25 mph. the shaking was so violent i was seconds away from veering off the road into the trees. there is a technical bulletin from ford about this issue, but it is not a recall. someone is likely going to die for what is obviously a design and/or manufacturing defect. the technical bulletin from ford on this issue is: tsb# 18- 2268. nthis needs to be a recall.
Driving in between 50 and 65 i hit a bump or pot hole in the road the front end starts to shake and shakes the whole cab of the truck bad. truck has 29k miles. had to slow down to 30 mph to get it to stop shaking.
While driving at highway speeds (60mph), i hit a bump in the road and the truck began to shake violently in the front end, to a point that i felt i might lose control. the only way i could get it to stop was to significantly reduce speed. this has happened twice now and is "very" concerning. the second time was at highway speed as well, this time 70mph.
While going 70 mph after crossing a small over pass the small bump where it meets the road, sent the front end of my vehicle into what i can only say was a violently out of control shaking that i could not stop for a period of time. the whole vehicle shoot uncontrollably as i did all i could to smash the brake pedal that did very little, as well as hold on to the steering wheel that was going back and forth so hard and fast it was it could not be turned in any direction until the vehicles slowed. we were in traffic at the time and i could not control my vehicle until it slowed and i could get it to the side of the road. the shaking was very violent. i know about vehicles so i looked over the whole front end and saw nothing wrong. i drove the vehicle home, about 30 miles from the incident at 50 mph. i had a wobble around 25 mph going down an on-ramp. the mileage was around 24,000. i took it to the local dealer and the serviceman said, oh, you had a 'death wobble' and said it just needed adjustment. he never said this could happen again, or that it needs to be monitored in some way. this has been an ongoing issue per others on the internet. my truck has 57,475 miles on it.
Driving on highway between 60mph and 80mph if rough patch or bump the road is hit the truck will start shaking violently and the steering will lock up. the problem does not correct itself until the truck is slowed to 30mph. it is starting to happen more often. today with my kids in the car it happened and i almost hit a concrete highway divider. i have taken the truck to the dealership and was told that ford is aware of the problem but the parts that are to fix it dont remedy the issue. basically there's nothing they can do at this point. this problem is going to cause an accident so i am not driving the expensive truck i've had for only a year and definitely will not have my kids in it until something is fixed.
When driving at approximately 50mph and coming into contact with any uneven spots in the road the truck will shake violently and jump up and down left and right so bad that it is impossible to do anything but hit the brakes.when the vehicle slows to about 30mph the shaking subsides and is fine until the next bump in the road.. it happened 3 times in 5 mins and in less than 1 mile distance on a state highway .. this is a serious problem and needs corrected before someone is killed.. the first time it happened i had about 8000 miles on my vehicle ,it has happened 10 times since, every time at speeds greater than 50mph
I have a 2017 ford f250 super duty 4x4 that i am having problems with the front end the salesman that i bought the truck from calls the problem a death wabble the truck has 53000 miles on it but tomball ford where i bought the truck from told me that they were out of the parts that would fix the problem nation wide .*bf*jb
I just had two experiences with 'death wobble' in one day and it was my first time dealing with it. i was traveling at about 65 mph hit a hit a bump in the road on a small county road that sent my truck front steering jerking back and forth and i had to pull off the road to get it back under control. i thought it was a tire issue and got out and look at tires and shocks and linkage to find nothing wrong. second is the worst, i had my family in the truck on the way home and i hit another bump in the road when it started again. i this is very unnerving and i don't feel safe driving especially with family in truck
Violent shaking of the front end when hitting a bump at 70 mph that almost made driver lose control of the vehicle until slowing down to 50 mph.
I was driving my truck on christmas day and hit a small bump on the highway and all of a sudden my truck started shaking violently and was hard to control. i slowed down to approx. 30-35 mph and the shaking went away. this is the second time this has happened. i took it to the dealer and the service tech said it was 'death wobble' and even put that on the service order. they said they would order a new improved stabilizer and that it would it would be take 6-8 weeks to receive the part. i am now with a truck that my wife and grandkids will not ride in and i am concerned about driving it. the shaking is very violent and the vehicle is very hard to control. then, having to slow to 30mph in a middle lane on the highway is very dangerous and could cause a serious accident.
Multiple times, in the last few months, i have experienced the "death wobble " in my truck. the truck has less than 45000 miles. the death wobble usually happens after a bump in the road, which causes the truck to shake violently. it is extremely scary, losing control of the truck.
I had just stopped for gas and got back on the highway and was in the passing lane going over a bridge deck and as soon as i came off the bridge the truck started shaking horribly. i let the car next to me pass as i slowed down and pulled over. scared myself and my uncle to death and still had to drive 160 miles to get home. after returning home i have taken it to the local dealer and they replaced damper steering linkage but as our family vehicle we do not feel comfortable in it's safety!
I've had multiple occasions of the death wobble while drive at higher speeds. the latest incident happened yesterday 11/16/20 and was the worst incident so far. driving down the highway at 60 mph after hitting a couple seems in the concrete the truck began to violently shake and wobble, progressively getting worse over the course of 1-2 mins. i let my foot off the gas peddle and applied slight pressure to the breaks, which made the wobble worse. after finally slowing down to ~30 mph the truck stopped wobbling and shaking. i honestly believe a less experienced driver could have easily lost control and rolled the truck causing a multiple vehicle accident on the highway killing people.
Hwy 129 dodge county ga, a1116t 60 mph truck violently went left and front end started uncontrollable severe shaking/oscillating. slammed on brakes and only regained control of truck after mph dropped below 30. stared moving again and 20 min later at 60 same thing! called ford dealership and i have an apt this morning at 9 they sway bar issue, i research and its called death wobble. if some one had been in the on coming lane this would be a different story/complaint as we don't know if anyone would have survived!!!
Driving highway speeds, 55 or above and hit a bump on highway the truck violently shakes and will not stop until almost stopping the vehicle. it's happened once at 70 mph on interstate and 5 times going 55 on a state highway. the vehicle has 54000 on it. just happened nov 15th and 17th 2019. very scary and could lead to real safety problems pulling a trailer.
While traveling at 70 mph dry roads, the front end started to shake violently after hitting a bump in the road. after online research i believe this to be the dreaded "death wobble" that numerous people have reported but yet ford has not fixed the issue for years.
We were pulling 5th wheel at approximately 70 mph. hit bump in road. pickup started shimming/shaking violently, almost lost control. had to reduce speed immediately which is hard to do in traffic. however, this happened again without the fifth wheel driving down the road at approximately 75 mph. hit bump in road and you have to all but slam on the brakes to get it to stop. did this again 3-4 times trying to reach dealership. the pickup has been in dealership for three (3) weeks today. the dealership says parts are on back order and they have no idea when part will be in to fix if fixable.
Death wobble truck started shaking so bad i had to come to complete stop this has happened twice while on highway driving around 65mph.
Death wobble. vehicle goes into a violent shake when the road surface transitions or when truck comes in contact with a bump. front end of the truck shakes violently. truck has to be slowed down nearly to stop before it stops. major issue when you are on an interstate with other vehicles and peoples lives around you.
I have a severe wobble in the front end of my truck. it isn't a constant wobble and i never know when it will happen. i notice it happens at higher speeds and when hitting a bump. i have been to the dealership with this problem. the first time they replaced the steering stabilizer it didn't help. the second time i was told everything was tight and right and that my tires were out of balance. i had them balanced that same day, again it didn't help. the problem forcing me to basically park my vehicle or only drive it around town at lower speeds that i know i haven't experienced the wobble at. i am afraid to drive this truck because when this wobble happens it is very difficult to control i have to try and slow down and pullover to the shoulder of the road. you should do something about this as i have read numerous reports of people having the very same issue. it's unsafe and it going to kill people if something is not done to make the manufacturer fix these problems.
First time at 6000 miles driving 70mph expenernst the death wobble. ford couldn't get parts they needed. allined at local ford dealer to ford recommendations. didn't experience again till 26000 miles. we are on a trip and it has happened 7 times. ford doesn't seem to want to admit we have a problem. we were on the interstates.
Death wobble in the 2017 ford f250 is not acceptable. we were nearly killed this past weekend. ford service has it right now. but from all the reviews i have read, the wobble returns and usually after the warranty has expired.. this is a serious problem. it happened one time to us 6 months ago, and this past weekend about 5 or 6 times on a 250 mile road trip. shakes and wobbles uncontrollably . we were on i-40 going about 70 miles mph. when we would hit bumps or cross uneven bridge it would go crazy.
Tailgate opens while driving down the road, ford did not respond when i first identified this problem, then i lost an expensive tool box full of tools from the back of my truck, still no resolution and i'm out thousands of dollars. ford does not care after the sale.
My recall has been fixed and not updated on system.
What is known as death wobble. have video the situation. this is a terrible safety issue. please force ford to fix this problem . traveled on fm 1462 brazoria county tx. truck started violently shacking. was travel 55 mph had to slow to 30 then it stopped.
While driving my 2017 f-250 6.2 v8 gas, the vehicle randomly shuts off. i lose power steering, electrical and even braking is affected. it happens at any speed, hot or cold engine. it is random and very unsafe. after a few moments, i can start the vehicle and it will drive normal for 2-3 days and it'll happen randomly again. i have had it serviced at the dealership twice now and i still have the same problem.
The tailgate is electronic and is opening on it's own while in motion. with my 5th wheel rv connected i cannot tell when the tailgate opens and this time it damaged both the tailgate and my rv when i made a right turn. i also lost cargo that was in the bed.
Air bag light on the tachometer comes on while braking, usually with exterior air temp above 80 degrees. a/c compressor shuts down, turn signals go crazy when engaged, electric windows stop functioning and the brake pedal seems soft.. release the brake pedal; the air bag light goes out and everything functions as normal until the brake pedal is applied again. the fcim was replaced and reprogrammed but the issue remains. comments please vehicle has 28000 miles +/-
Tailgate opened (on its' own) while driving and towing a fifth wheel camper on highway during rain. tailgate was damaged and caused extensive damage to front of camper. contents in truck bed were lost while traveling (on highway).
While traveling down the interstate at approx 70 mph i hit a bump and the vehicle's steering became violently erratic, jerking the steering wheel from my hands and the vehicle was shaking as if it was being torn apart internally. i had to slow to almost 10 mph before i was able to regain control of the vehicle. this is the 4th time the vehicle has acted in such a manner.
At 60 to 65 mph when you hit a bump in the road (going over bridges) the vehicle begins to shake uncontrollably / violently. in two cases i went off the road trying to slow the vehicle down. it will not stop unless you slow down to about 30 mph. in all cases it happened on the highway. typically while trying to merge into traffic while entering from an on ramp. most case the bridge joint starts the condition. this has happened 4 times in the last 2 months.
Experienced the 'death wobble' 3 times on the highway going 60-65 mph... had to slow vehicle down to get control of truck...truck has only 15,000 miles.... very scary and this is a very dangerous situation... i'm bringing my truck in 5/6/19 to get repaired
On march 16th this truck went into the death wobble on i-80. took it to dealer ship. they could not find anything wrong. truck has 20,000 miles on it. on april 8th on i-80 it death wobbled again. called ford filed complaint on april 8th. still have not heard back from service manager.
The issue started with the automatic tailgate deploying or opening during transit. i was hauling cargo and the at highway speed the tailgate opened and the load ejected from the the bed of truck onto the highway. fortunately there was no accident or damage to anyone else property. after this occurrence over a period of weeks the issue continues to get worse. it happens now regularly and numerous times during a day. i do not haul cargo now because of this. now the truck electrical system seems to be involved. the windows, radio and lights have issues. the tailgate has no now stopped opening randomly and is stuck in the closed position, this could be do to extreme force i applied during closing it in while stetting at a busy intersection recently. the instrument p[panel on the vehicle is very intelligent and all the settings regular disconnect or malfunction now. i am afraid to use the the cruise control because of the continuously random nature of the electronic failures.
While driving at appx. 70-75 mph after hitting a rough patch or bumps on the road the truck began to shake vigorously, i had to slow to 35-40 mph to get it to stop. i have just had the tires balance, rotated, and inflated to the specs. i was just in the dearlship on friday 02/15/19 and mentioned it to them they said they would look at it and would be $120 diagnostic fee never got an answer back. this morning alone i had experienced it 3 times in the 40 miles i drive to work. this is a huge safety issue and to experience it that many times in a 40 mile drive to work is not ok. luckily my kids and wife weren't in the truck they would have never rode in it again. i have 41k miles on my tuck and this isn't the first time it has happened. before taking the tries to be balanced and rotated fixed the issue so it seamed but right after laving the tire shop it happened. i will be taking the truck back to ford again for them to tell me there is nothing wrong. what is the fix for this? it seams to a common problem is ford doing anything to help its customers? now after this run of sudden shakes my sun roof will not open seams to be jammed or off track from the violent shaking not sure what else is broken or no longer works after this.
My ford f-250 experienced a severe "death wobble" on 3 occasions causing the need to slow down from 65 mph to 25 mph on the freeway during normal traffic. on one occasion, the shaking was so bad it went to the adjacent driving lane while on an on-ramp and was completely uncontrollable. the vehicle is at the ford dealership now and having the steering shock replaced but the service rep stated they are just trying this as a solution but do not know the root cause. they are also requesting that i pay for an alignment as another possible solution. the truck has roughly 20k miles on it and is completely stock (less a camper shell). i do not feel safe putting my 2 year old, 7 year old, or wife in a very expensive vehicle while having to worry if the truck will cause a wreck due to a factory defect.
Door latchs froze wont open or close open while driving. dealer did recall new parts still have problem now no solution cant fix i was told will call me if they find a fix mean time keep driving the truck hold doors close while driving help
I have had multiple occurrences of "death wobble"...... vehicle only has 12,000 miles on it..... have done research. seems like there is a safety bulletin out. ford told me the parts are on backorder for fix.....people online saying even after ford fix still not fixed. i dont feel safe letting anyone else drive this vehicle....or me driving it above 50 mph. so basically if you hit a road joint for a bridge for example (where i have had it happen 3 times so far) it throws the front end into a rythmatic violent shake. you have to slam on your brakes and slow down to about 25mph for it to go away. i am good at recovering from it now..... but i almost smashed into the guy next to me the first time it happened..... it is very unsafe and ford has not been very helpful. please help and make this a more known issue. i have read alot of the same stories online. i had nothing in tow during my occurrences. thank you in advance.....
While traveling down i45 at 70mph, the front end of the truck started to wobble really bad and the steering wheel started to wobble bad also. it was hard to hold on too. i slowed down and got off to the side of the rode , at about 30 mph it quit wobbling and i proceeded on. soon after i was going about 65 mph and it started wobbling again. i slowed down as i did before and it stopped wobbling again around 30mph. i parked when i got home. i went to work the next day and it started wobbling again. every time i drive it, it wobbles now. i have called dealership and will be taking t in 6 days from today. they could not fit me in until then.
The antenna mount is broken and very poorly made. the service manager said that is what happens when you take it through a car wash, checked 2018 same model and the mount has been changed to a heavy duty mounting bracket. when i was driving, it was waving in the wind and at one time came out completly. i was afraid it would hit someone or something and do harm or damage to someone or something including killing someone. i had to use some type of agent to hold it down but that has to be replaced every month. this is not acceptable, and any vehicle should be eligible to go through a car wash. vehicle was brought to hawk ford in oak lawn, il (invoice #841990) with no repairs being done. was told it was my problem to deal with.
Very scary death wobble.at speeds from 45 to 65 mph i have taken the truck to ford with no help. the first time they said the tires were bad. which was very strange because they only had about 20,000 miles on them. so i replaced them at the dealer with factory originals. no fix no help from ford
Recieved a recall from ford for frozen door latches. door will not close in the cold. went into dealership and they "fixed" the recall. but it did not work. ford states there is no other fix and there is nothing they can do at this time. they told me to bungee my door shut and wait for another recall! this is a very serious matter that could result in injury or death and ford is taking no action to fix!
i recently parked my tt at our new rv campground. while backing it up the gate opened randomly in the middle of a turn and dented the top of my tailgate. extremely upset i new it was going to be a hard case to submit to warranty for them to believe that it wasn't user error. a few days later i left work and drove 20 miles down the highway only to get to where i was going and get out of my truck to see the tailgate down with a full propane tank in the back an a $1000 worth of fishing poles. today i took my wife to lunch and when we parked and got out the gate was down again. we ate went a few miles down the road, shopped and unlocked the doors using the fob and the gate dropped. that's twice in one day. it was getting worse. shortly after, i got a last minute call to move my tt due to rising waters here in buchanan at the rv park and while i was getting ready to leave the gate opened on its own while the doors were unlocked. so i got out my camera and closed the gate. within 20 seconds it opened again. this time i video taped it and texted the video to my ford warranty rep. i rushed my truck to covert ford and by gods good grace the tailgate opened repeatedly in front of every ford rep working. i'll let you know what they find. my truck is a 2017 f250 lariat ultimate. i have a video but it is 9.63mb. email me if you want it.
Automatic electric tail gate opens randomly without driver selection. this has happened several times while vehicle is moving and has caused damage to tailgate and travel trailer. no indication tailgate is open given to driver. this happened within the first 100 miles after purchase, the first time. it happened several times after that. last incident i had just pulled onto the freeway and was flagged down by a passing trucker while i was driving at 65mph that my tailgate had opened. imagine if something had fallen out of the bed of my truck and caused another motorist to crash. i had heard a creaking sound while turning onto a roadway with my airstream travel trailer attached. the tailgate had crunched against the propane bottles causing damage to the tailgate, the propane bottles, and the cover. this had happened to me several times in other instances but thought it was a fluke until this last event while towing my airstream travel trailer. i contacted ford dealer where i purchased in austin; they submitted to ford and ford said they would pay part of the bill, but i am on the hook to pay also. this is a ford wiring harness issue. several other people have reported same issue. ford should fix this 100% before something serious accident occurs from items falling out of the back of the truck when bed opens automatically.
My ford f250 has a severe "wobble" when hitting bumps in the road. the truck begins to shake violently and does not stop until slowing to about 35 mph. the first time i was traveling at only 45 mph and after that it happened at greater sppeeds up to 70 mph. at times, i thought i was going to lose control of the truck. it happened between 15-20 on my trip back to texas. i took my truck to ford and they are the ones who described it as a wobble. i have since learned that i am not alone with this defect, i learned this has been happening since at least 2011 and ford will not correct this as a warranty problem even if you're vehicle is under warranty. i was told my front end was out of alignment to which i replied " if it is, it's because of the wobble", and of course the mechanic said that was not possible, but he was never in the truck when it "wobbled". i then was told about another correction, but the repairs would not be covered. so the only way to correct the "wobble" is to add steering/stabilizer shocks to the front end and pay for it out of pocket even though it is a problem that ford knows all about. i contacted ford customer service and they were absolutely no help telling me "after market parts", are not covered under warranty even if that is what it takes to repair the obvious defect of the ford f250. i had no way of knowing that ford was adding parts to the vehicle, rather i thought they were making repairs to the existing vehicle. so, it is obvious ford knows there is a problem and how to correct the problem but they refuse to take of their vehicles or their customer safety. i believe this is a safety issue as it would be easy to lose control of the vehicle. i am asking you to please look into this problem before it turns deadly, and it will turn deadly.
The tailgate on my truck opens on its own. this has happened approximately 6 times over the past few months. i did a google search to see if this was happening to others and found a few articles mentioning it was happening. i figured i would also submit this form to let you know it was happening to me as well.
The manufacturer has designed a trailer hitch that makes it impossible to use safety chains with. you can not adequately attach the hooks leading the possibility of a runaway trailer. the ford superduty trucks boast of their ability to pull well over 10,000 pounds but their engineers did not provide a way to fasten safety chains.
