On average, the 2015 Ford Explorer starts to “feel” problems with the UNKNOWN OR OTHER and its various aspects after 28 831 miles.

Recently reported UNKNOWN OR OTHER problems on 2015 Ford Explorer

Exhaust odor coming from climate control vents. while driving with the heater on, noticed that when we'd come to a stop a mild exhaust odor was coming from the heater vents. passengers consisted of myself, two toddlers and pregnant wife. after an 8 hour drive my wife and i had headaches. not sure the source of the headache.

My vehicle will not start. it went to the dealer at new south ford in meridian ms and was there for over a month and it started at the dealer and when i came home we turn it off. the next morning, it started again but when i turned it off when i went to an appointment and came back a few hours later it would not start. the same thing it was doing before i took it to the ford service place. they replaced the battery, another electronic device and wanted to replace the main electronic control device i believe but we were not going to put out more money for a "i feel really good about this part". the guy stated it would start and run but it would run bad. it started but after you turn the car off it will not start up again as of it's in a security mode of some sort. the accessories will come on, the car will just not start. my wife and i have a very sickly 3 year old child with leukemia cancer, down syndrome, bleeding disorder, ostomy bag, heart surgery done and doctors who have up one him stating he had 3 months to live and it's been over a year now and we need our vehicle to go to and from work. the ford dealer clearly doesn't know what the issues is. we just spent close to one thousand dollars for parts and labor for a vehicle that is still giving us the same problems.

It's popping up low engine power and it will shut down everything from lights to blind spot detection. it just started doing this after running through a small water puddle.

Since october 2019 i have had my car in 4 auto shops for a propane smell,, so strong it would make you feel sick driving. the 4th auto shop said it was the turbos leaking. we changed those. now the smell is less but you can not sit in idle because it gets very strong. mind you this car was a 1 owner before me, and i bought it used from a dealer june 2019. drove only 4 months and now 4 months of not being able to drive it but have to make payments anyway. im at a loss! how can ford not handle this? really, cops have even gotten in accidents. i can't just drive it risking our health or lives. i really hope they recall the whole vehicle, it's not right to risk everyone's lives.

On march 16, 2018 i responded to liccardi ford of watchung nj to transition my leased 2015 ford explorer xlt to a purchase. with full knowledge that the vehicle was being used for uber rideshare, the dealership finance manager sold me a secure-net (houston tx) extended warranty for $2,723 knowing that the coverage and contract would be voided if the vehicle is used for rideshare. attempts to cancel the policy with a full refund has been made impossible due to neither secure-net nor the dealership canceling the policy and providing a refund. it would appear that ford dealerships (and others) are selling these policies to unwary vehicle consumers and even rideshare operators without telling them that use f their vehicle for rideshare will void their extended warranty coverage. any and all secure-net extended vehicle warranty policies sold in america should be investigated and/or recalled before vehicle owners find that their purchased policy will not cover or pay for any mechanical issue. liccardi ford did not tell me that the secure-net extended warranty would not cover my rideshare use of the vehicle and secure-net denied my claim of complete engine failure due to a design flaw in ford vehicles where the encased water pump breaks and leaks coolant into the engine and oil pan resulting in complete engine failure. the ford extended warranty would have covered the repair but liccardi ford has failed to rectify the situation. there may be many other potential victims who have been sold secure-net extended warranties not knowing that they may be victims should a repair claim be denied. this hinges on consumer fraud, in my opinion. i was not sure if this complaint met your guidelines, but opted to file a complaint. there was no wording or anything in the brochure to indicate that the extended warranty would not cover rideshare use of the vehicle.

During acceleration with the air conditioner running, there is a smell of rotten eggs in the cabin. when it happens myself and others in the car will experience light headedness and headaches. additionally, my partner experienced the headache and vomited on the side of the road due to the smell. it smells like exhaust fumes and rotten eggs, which is clearly from the exhaust. the fact that there hasn't been a recall regarding this issue is criminal.

The past two days i've become incredibly dizzy, nauseous and a very dull headache. i noticed i felt fine when i woke but during my commute i really started feeling ill and had a hard time with my eyes when i tried to focus on the bumper sticker on the car in front of me. i had very bad vertigo, which hasn't ever affected me prior to these past two days. my husband recalled reading a news story and when i looked it up- sure enough a recall has been issued for carbon monoxide issues.

Exhaust or emission system: currently dash board is displaying engine light which was diagnosed to code p420 for catalytic converter or oxygen sensor

On 6/6/19 vehicle lost engine throttle power when "wrench" light indicator appeared on dashboard while driving on interstate (at least 65mph). wrench noted terrain management system error. engine did not shut off. vibrated very badly when coming to stop. happened again on 6/12 on city street driving approx 35mph. both times stopped vehicle, turned off, and restarted and operated normally. ford dealerships cannot determine problem because there computer systems cannot see error code(s) in diagnostics.. additionally, ford motor company will not respond until "error code" identified by ford service dealership. read online and youtube exact issues but not discussion on resolution(s). see url address for example of issue that occurred with our vehicle: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=asrdplp4_qe&t=1s. very dangerous to lose power on highway and little control of vehicle. believe this is a systemic issue with ford explorers

The interior driver door panel is splitting at seam and the yellow filler is now showing.

Door panel is lifting. this should be defective

I previously reported a positive case finding of carbon monoxide poisoning on 03/22/19 secondary to a large amount of exhaust type fumes entering my vehicle through the ventilation system upon accelerating from stopped position to acceleration to 70 on interstate with climate control on. on 03/26 /19 i again experienced the same occurrence prior to driving to ford dealership with vehicle in parked position in driveway with climate on auto heat. an odor of exhaust fumes was not experienced however car automatically turned itself to ac and cold air came in on its own prior to departure. i shut all climate functions off and rolled down all windows, i was very cold so rolled i up 3 windows and heated seats and heater 10 min from dealership. then again accessory air kicked on access i began having i began experiencing blurred vision and lightheadedness i rolled down all windows . i arrived at ford service and vin lookup was performed and i was told there was a recall for carbon monoxide concerns. i was driven to hospital and again treated for acute carbon monoxide poisoning and admitted for administration of 10 liters on a breathing masks for 6 hours this time. my carboxyhemoglobin was even higher at 6.6% and pa o2 was in the 80?s and normalized to 1.5 before dismissal. i experienced severe mental confusion and slowed speech for 2 hours after exposure. my car readings showed a constant level between 10 and 15 from from osha detector borrowed from job site with a high level of 30.4. i received four abg?s during stay, chest x-ray and was only today finally feel mentally clear. i had a headache for four days described a dull and constant with visual disturbances and dyspnea with any exertion from which i?ve not completely recovered. baseline reading during short trips of 20 min or less were 0 and rose to 10 with high of 30.4 in 15 min trip. see 11190974. *db*jb

I have had ongoing issues with smelling an exhaust type smell upon accelerating my vehicle with an increase in rpm. whenever this happens i roll down the window to avoid the fumes. i previously notified ford dealership in columbia mo by telephone shortly (2 months after purchase) regarding the exhaust fumes and was told not to worry levels were low enough not to cause a problem. 6 months later my father again took my car to dealership and again said no recall on my vehicle and not to be concerned i have had headaches, visual blurring and dyspnea sporadically since ownership. on march 22nd, 2019 i was driving to a routine drs appointment located 10 miles from my home. i pulled out of an intersection and sped up to the 70 mph speed limit and noticed an immediate odor of exhaust type fumes radiating through the car. my heat was on climate control and then turned off on its own and accessory outside air came in. my eyes were burning and my heart rate sped up along with a burning sensation in my nose. by the time i got to the doctor my face and hands were a bright cherry red. the doctor was concerned about my symptoms and ordered a stat arterial blood gas for carbon monoxide poisoning. the results were returned at a critical level of 5.5 l 0.5 to 1.5. and my p02 oxygen content was only 67.1. i received emergency treatment for carbon monoxide poisoning, my carbon monoxide level went down on to 4.2 on 100% rebrreathing mask and 0xygen level went to above 100mmhg. . they would not let me get back in my car and my husband came and drove with windows down home after purchasing a carbon monoxide detector that alarmed within minutes. i do not feel safe at all now knowing that my children and myself have drive much further than 8 miles with unknown levels of carbon monoxide levels i will be happy to forward the medical record of visit of diagnosis of acute cobb poisoning. see 11192320. *dt*jb

Car was in motion in new york city, van wyck expressway service road. the car just shut off on 3/17/2019, 4:30 pm the dash board signaled powertrain, dealer states timing chain issue. vehicle purchase used with 59,000 miles on february 2018. check engine light was on since march 2018. currently 82,600 miles. been to the dealer several times for additional problems. i had to replace the battery headlights , heartng motor, there are leaks into the car that have not been repairs. the car is low falling apart :( .and had to pay out of pocket since extended warranty did not cover everything.. not getting straight answers from ford or the dealer. thank god i was on the service road and going 25 mph stopped at a light. the car never started and had to be towed to the dealer.

There are often issues with the radio and heating system. radio turns on and off by itself and so does the heat and air conditioning. in addition, i have complained about something making me dizzy and nauseous in the vehicle. in informed the finance company regarding my inability to breath, for which i was hospitalized. i have been hospitalized on numerous occasions since the purchase of the vehicle and have informed the finance. furthermore, they have been additional hospitalizations in 2018, for which i will have to upload the documents at a later time.

Exterior door handle came unhindered and it made the door to the point it cannot close.

Exhaust smell coming through cabin when idling and in motion. with ac/heat on and off. most significantly when accelerating. it has caused me to have major headaches and nausea. it has went to the dealership to be 'fixed' but problem is still occurring.

When driving my vehicle with heater on iam experiencing an exhaust fume smell i have contacted ford in regards to my car they have told me it has had the repair done to it for csp, but iam still experiencing the problem. the vehicle has 33364 miles on it.

- noticed on going foul natural gas smell that after a few minutes give me a headache . can't drive more than 15 minutes before i need to get out to catch my breath and breathe fresh air. the dealership claims that it's the "ptu" ( not sure waht that

Purchased vehicle in aug/sep 2016 with no issues. had it in storage for the winter in illinois while i was deployed. took it out of storage in july and moved to florida in september of 2017. since november of 2018, until now i've had numerous problems with the vehicle due to rust. the car is 4 yrs old and i've had to replace the entire exhaust system, part of the frame and now have a loud screech coming from my right rear wheel due to the rust. all that in the past 10 months. i've tried to voice my complaints with ford motor company but they seem to believe that rust is normal when driven on salted highways for an extended period of time. i've spent almost $6k on my vehicle in the past 8 months and forsee another large bill when i take it in. is anyone else having reported issues with their explorer showing signs of rust in an extremely short amount of time. i grew up in northern minnesota where i drove my 1996 t bird on salted roads the majority of the year from 2003-2011 and never had issues with rust at all. i fear that my vehicle wasn't treated properly during the manufacturing of it.

Exhaust smell in vehicle cabin while driving. increased carbon monoxide levels while driving, detected levels using a carbon monoxide tester. levels increase when vehicle is traveling uphill. levels generally increase to 20 on hills, have gone as high as 38 on occasion

I've been experience a natural gas smell for the past month. it grows stronger the longer i drive. the smell is interior and exterior. passengers including my kids have complained of nausea and headaches. i had it repaired at the ford dealership on 11/20/18. after driving for 5 minutes after the 'repairs' were made, it happened again. the problem continues to persist. i'm not sure what to do about it at this point...

When i accelerate my vehicle you can smell tge exhaust fumes and i instantly can't breathe, get a headache, nauseated, and after a few minutes i get very sleepy. i have to roll my window down and stick my head out to be able to breathe. it doesn't do it every time but in a 3 hour trip, it happens at least 4 times depending on how much accelerating is happening. if my ac unit is on high then it will automatically go to barely blowing and as i let off the acclerator then it will eventually cycle back to high even though it is on high. it is making me very sick because i'm in my car so much. i have taken to ford repeatedly, two different dealerships, and they can't get it fixed. sometimes to get the ac to go back to normal, i have to stop somewhere and turn the car off and back on. this has been happening to me since a few months after i bought the car in feb 2017. my doctor says the only way to correct problem is to get rid of the car but i don't think it needs to be on the road at all. it'll just make someone else sick too.i started noticing the smell in late april 2017 and it just got stronger and i started taking in to ford when it started getting really bad. the vehicle had 30000 + miles when i bought it.

Ongoing issue since buying vehicle. cabin fills with terrible exhaust odor during rapid acceleration onto highway, or when going up steep hills.

Exhaust fumes in car while driving

One day my wife and i were driving and we noticed a sulfur/exhaust smell coming in the cabin. the smell came and went. i had a local dealer perform a recall to fix problems associated with this issue. as soon as we got the vehicle back we noticed the smell again. i returned the vehicle back to the dealership.they rechecked all the vents and said it should be fine. couple days later my wife and i along with our 2 kids in the vehicle had to pull over on the side of the road because the smell was so bad it was burning our eyes.have the vehicle parked and havent drove it since

Exhaust smell when the car accelerates. the cabin smells like rotten eggs.

Currently own a 2015 ford explorer sport which has 56000 , while driving east bound on the i84 doing the speed limit at 65mph suddenly no steering! completely locked'-whoa'- talk about scary' almost crash into an 18 wheels beside me , i quickly hit my hazards and came to a crawl at the side of the road into a bank' i truly thought i was good as dead.. i had to tow the car to my home because ford dealership was closed at the time '-this has been a common problem with ford across their fleet for years'. as of right now i have a 50k car with 57k miles just sitting'. will be bringing in to my dealer asap and a cal to corporate.. they will have to handle this asap ''. they will kill somebody if they haven't already

When i put my 2015 ford explorer in park, i get a message stating that the transmission isn't in park when infact it is. i need to play with the gear shift button or restart the vehicle and keep shifting it from park to drive until the message goes away. the alarm in the vehicle goes off when i get the message that the transmission isn't in park. it started out doing it occasionally, but now it is consistent. this should be covered under warranty or be put on a recall.

Windshield trim on ford explorer flew off on the highway while traveling 70mph.

Takata recall when stopped, having trouble putting the shift in park. sometimes it takes several trys of moving the shift into park before the red light goes on so i can turn it off.

Windshield seals have come un-affixed. problem discovered while driving. after reaching speed of 45mph loud sounds like following a dump truck dispersing rocks. sounds increased in volume and intensity but not visible while driving. long black frame cover also loose.

Strong excessive fuel exhaust/fumes in cabin of car, especially noticed when accelerating like getting onto the interstate with air condition on.

My wife and i are getting dizzy and my wife is getting severe headaches. we both notice a strong natural gas smell in the vehicle while driving today (06-02-18) i smelled it first and didn't say anything to her. about 30 miles later she told me that she smells gas. if this continues we will go to the er at our hospital to get checked for carbon monoxide. we will also contact the dealer on monday. we just got back from florida in which we drove a total of 2700 miles. the vacation was from 05-19 thru 05-28-2018. it headaches/dizziness started about 2 days before our trip.

I noticed signs and symptoms of carbon monoxide poisoning, in me when i drove my 2015 ford explorer sport, i complained when i took my 2015 ford explorer sport, back several times, to rich ford service, since the delivery of my ford explorer sport from, monday may 7, 2018 and again i returned my 2015 ford explorer sport back to rich ford may 2018 i complained to mr. tim sloan about the signs and symptoms of carbon monoxide poisoning, mr. tim sloan called me around 12:00 wednesday may 9, 2018 that the 2015 ford explorer sport is ready for pick up, tim sloan said that (rich ford service drove it around for 40 miles, and rich ford service persons, could not smell the 'co' problem) i informed tim that 'co' is carbon monoxide poisoning 'co' 'silent killer.' is actually odorless, colorless, tasteless, and it cannot be noticed without a 'co' detector or 'co' meter,

, monoxide gas in my truck. please advise

When the car is turned on, you begin to smell a 'rotten' smell, which has been determined as the exhausted. while the car is in motion it continues to smell of exhaust to the point it will cause nausea. once the vehicle is turned off the smell will subsided.

We are experiencing frustration in getting a resolution to noxious exhaust fumes that enter the interior of the vehicle. this is most notably upon acceleration (such as when you enter the interstate and quickly accelerate). we have gone to a local repair, called a local dealer, changed out air and cabin filters, but to no avail. the fumes are horrible. we purchased the car from a used car lot in the spring of 2018 and have been trying to get something done from the beginning of owning this vehicle.

Cabin is filling with extremely intense smell of carbon monoxide. it is impossible to drive as you can not stay in it for more than a few minutes. it doesn't matter if your just driving around town (5-10 miles per hour) or if you try to go on a highway (40-60 mph). it just gets worse. after a brief time you get lightheaded and nauseated. i had the vehicle to a ford dealer a few months ago to supposedly fix the problem. whatever they did certainly didn't work as it has now gotten to this point.

Within the first, original, 2000 miles of driving my new 2015 ford explorer my family and i have been subjected to an oder that is similar to melting plastic, burning hair or engine exhaust fumes in row passenger cabin while driving. this is especially noticeable after high rpm acceleration or during highway driving. in relation to this smell is are symptoms of headache, tiredness, and or nausea. i have brought vehicle to multiple ford dealerships, the last time the dealership had the car for over 4 weeks! we have been told that necessary repairs have been made. but the vehicle and my family are still experiencing the same problems. vehicle now has just over 23000 miles on it. since buying vehicle i have had a number emergency room visits that were not conclusive and after reading findings by this agency and others now believe that there is a connection to my ford explorer, and we are suffering from prolonged carbon monoxide poisoning!

When idling or driving slow through town a strong surfer/rotten egg smell fills the cabin of vehicle has given my girlfriend and i both extreme headaches and nausea and made her 11 yr old daughter throw up along with a headache shortly after as well. wasn't as bad when we first got the vehicle but seems to be getting worse

Strong smell of exhaust fumes inside of vehicle upon acceleration. elevated levels of carbon monoxide (tested with meter) during operation of vehicle. i must open windows inside of vehicle frequently to vent the exhaust fumes, and to try to decrease co levels in the vehicle while driving. this condition has existed since the first day of ownership, august 8, 2016. i still own this vehicle as of today, january 30, 2018.

Moonroof leak followed by monroof being stuck open. after a car wash at our purchasing dealer, we noticed water dripping from the lights above the center console in proximity to the monroof switches. upon testing the switches, the moonroof opened but would not close again. the powershade operates fine, but the moonroof is stuck open (in the middle of winter in michigan). the lights operate fine. luckily for us, we are under the initial factory warranty. this is a 2015 explorer with 29900 miles. we bought it used on saturday and this happened saturday afternoon on the way home from the ford dealer.

I took my 2015 ford explorer in because there was a recall on the front door panels. took my vehicle to ford autonation where i bought it and all they did was rip my panels off and tried to restaple it. no even a week later it starting coming off again so i took it back and said this is a recall, y'all need to replace it and they said no that's all thier gonna do

Exhaust odors in vehicle especially when driving with heat or a.c. on causing breathing discomfort and eye irritation.

Carbon monoxide coming into vehicle. ford says it's not dangerous and they are waiting on parts. bought a carbon monoxide detector and it went off in vehicle. child nauseaus. owner nauseaus a few times and extremely sleepy . tiredness and nausea went away shortly after getting out of vehicle. didn't know it was related until i took my car in for a recall and they said they needed to order parts for a safety concern.

2015 ford explorer with carbon monoxide inside the cabin of our vehicle making us very sick for 2 1/2 years. ford dealership (sterling ford opelousas, la) has been telling us all of that time there is nothing wrong with our vehicle. we had a smoke test performed on the exhaust system of our vehicle and found 3 exhaust leaks that are releasing exhaust fumes that contain carbon monoxide. we have proof! we also have proof of the carbon monoxide inside of our vehicle! so ford obviously has a problem with this on our vehicle. all of this carbon monoxide is then entering the vehicle with all of the over 80 entry points that have been identified. please put a portable hand held carbon monoxide detector in your vehicle, not a home detector! these home detectors do not register the carbon monoxide immediately. ford needs to have to buyback all of these rolling gas chambers for a full refund to their customers. this is fraud what ford is doing. the ford executives that are making statements that these vehicles are safe to drive, need to go to jail! ford please stop lying to your customers about these very serious issues. do those same ford executives drive a ford with carbon monoxide in them? they need to! we are not happy about spending this much money on a vehicle we can't even use! much less killing us!

Ford explorers exhaust leak of carbon monoxide. while driving i've experienced light headedness, head aches and feeling faint.

My truck when in motion with ventilation system on a/c or heat going in highway speed and some residential speed the vents kicks out fumes carbon , eggs smell ,and gas smell that has affect my ability when i operate truck

Explorer exhaust leak. carbon monoxide in the passenger cabin. at various and consistent times there is a strong odor of gasoline or rotten eggs in the passenger cabin. this causes nauseousness and headaches. a local ford dealer 'henderson ford' completed recall 17n03 on the vehicle which states, 'installed lid gate drain valves, and reprogramming climate control module.' this did not resolve the issue. still getting co odor and fumes in cabin. upon return i left the vehicle with the henderson dealership for the day. they said they because they could not duplicate the issue there was nothing else they could do.
