Exhaust fumes in cabin upon acceleration

Returning home from church when all of a sudden i could not steer the car. it was veering to the left and i could not straighten it up. there was a thud and dirt and dust and the car stopped. got out and the front left suspension was on the ground. no ticket, no nothing because i did not hit anything. ford has made a decision that is was not a car failure. we ask for the findings of there inspections and was told thy did not release those to the customer. we really would like to see their report as i did not hit anything and want to know why this happened.

I have noticed since the car was purchased new a strong odor coming from the air conditioning system when you depress the accelerator to max when passing a car or entering an on ramp. i have tried with both the fresh air on and recirculate on, the same effect is noticed. finally after dealing with this for about a year i brought it up to my dealer when the vehicle was in for its routine service. the service advisor informed me he has a 2016 explorer with the same problem and that ford came back with something about vents not opening quick enough at the rear of the vehicle. to his knowledge, there was no fix from ford as of yet. the smell does get quite strong and routinely the windows need to be lowered to prevent the strong odors from lingering. i am concerned as to what the odor is, possibly harmful emissions that could affect myself and my passengers? under normal driving conditions the smelled will appear when the accelerator is depressed more than half way, far too often in my opinion. i did notice more of the smell during the warmer months of the year and not as much when it was cooler/cold (we live in florida so never freezing).

I own a 2015 ford explorer and have complained numerous times to the dealership about the smell of toxic gas smell or rotten egg smell upon acceleration. they are aware of the problem but have not fix for it. i filed a claim with autonation ford a few months back and left several messages, as instructed, for the service manager of the dealership and have gotten nowhere. he does not return my call. i have children that sit in my car and i know it is not safe. upon research it is the release of carbon monoxide and coming through the vents. i need help on this matter because i do not want to even drive it. it started in 2015 and continues

Gas smell the car has a gassy odor when you accelerate. we bought the car brand new, and at first i thought it had to do with it breaking in. here we are over two years later and you can still smell it.

Since leasing this car new in 2015, we have experienced on many occasions, especially after acceleration, a strong exhaust smell enter the passenger compartment of the vehicle. being an automotive instructor,i was able to access technical service bulletins regarding this issue but they were related to modifications to the rear air conditioning unit. we experienced the smell even with the ac off. i am very concerned about the long term health effects of the deadly exhaust gases entering the cabin and being exposed to my family including children and grandchildren. i also find it ridiculous that a manufacturer with a long history of ford motor company would allow this to go on for so long as i have learned.

Smell of exhaust in passenger cabin when accelerating with full throttle.

Since we purchased the vehicle in 2014, we are getting exhaust in the cabin of the vehicle, specifically, on longer trips while the car is in motion. the faster and further we drive, the worse it is. we travel from sc to pa (10-12 hours) at least twice per year, and have noticed a strong odor in the car that smells like the exhaust pipe is feeding the exhaust back into the car. during our day-to-day commutes to work/school/home, we do not notice it. we have three kids..this can't happen! i have brought it to the attention of our ford dealership when we take it for oil changes and routine maintenance, and at one time this summer (summer 2017) the tech checked the vin and said, nope, yours isn't part of the recall. we'll look into it, but there's nothing we can do.

Exhaust fumes enter cabin with moderate to heavy acceleration through the a/c system and in recirculation mode causing nausea and headache.

My new 2015 ford explorer xlt produces a very strong exhaust/sulfer smell inside the passenger cabin. the smell is very strong when the vehicle is rapidly accelerated. the dealership has verified the problem and attempted to fix it six different times. ford knows about these problems, but none of these repairs have reduced the strong odor and noxious fumes inside the cabin.

When accelerating the vehicle a strong exhaust smell fills the cabin. the smell is overwhelming and causes a scratchy sensation in your throat. this is my second explorer (the first was "lemon-lawed" for the same issue). ford was quick to replace the first vehicle, however not as eager to replace the second. i have a small child and worry about his health and how it is affecting him. someone really needs to look into this issue. buyers beware...i will lose money if i have to trade this vehicle. think twice before you purchase an explorer.

Leased vehicle new on october 18, 2014. problem began immediately at approximately 200 miles. when passing another vehicle or accelerating from stop, exhaust fumes fill the cabin through the a/c vents. occurs to the extent that all windows and sunroof must be opened in order to clear fumes. has made driver and passenger(s) light-headed, upper respiratory irritation has happened, as well. generally occurs when windows are up and a/c is operating. reported to dealer, was told "there is no tsb for this problem based on your vin" (though all prior year explorers 2011-2014 have this problem and it has not yet been resolved by ford, and there is a class action suit in fl which was given class action standing by a judge in october, 2014. my vehicle is not "yet" lemon law eligible because the number of repair attempts has been limited by health problems. ford should offer to buy effected vehicles back without need to go through lemon law, as this is a carbon monoxide and "breathing exhaust fumes" health hazard which occurs almost every time the vehicle is driven.

Smell of exhaust fumes and/or sulfur-type odors coming through air conditioning system under heavy acceleration, passing on highway, or when engine is under a load. fumes/smell get so bad that i have to roll down all windows and open sunroof to ventilate the passenger compartment. tolerated the headaches, nausea, and light-headedness while driving until situation became intolerable and had begun to avoid driving the explorer. first serviced in 10/2015, dealer had vehicle for 4 or 5 days. i was told that a tsb was performed which included removing the rear bumper and using sealant, but that did not correct the problem. fumes in passenger compartment persisted. on 9/26/2016 took vehicle back to dealer for further diagnostics and repair attempts for same problem. dealer had vehicle through 10/4/16, and called to tell me to come pick-up vehicle as it was "fixed" by cleaning a/c evaporator, and also "speaking with ford engineers". went for test drive with service manager. after approx. 4-5 miles on highway, under varying acceleration conditions, cabin began to smell like fumes again, coming through the a/c vents. then i began to feel light-headed and informed service manager of same. could not ventillate vehicle due to heavy rains, but taking a/c off of "recirculate air" helped only a little, and changed nature of odor slightly. dealership was using a meter to measure what was supposed to be carbon monoxide. was consistently told throughout that measurements were "low" at 900ppm to max 1500ppm. when driving with same meter, it alarmed multiple times, but i was told it was because meter responds to breathing in the car. i determined that meter was for carbon dioxide not carbon monoxide. returned vehicle to service, was told ford is having regional rep examine vehicle on 10/11/16. i have filed a lemon law complaint with bbb.

Exhaust smell in cabin, all the time.

Tl* the contact owns a 2015 ford explorer. the contact stated that there was an odor of carbon monoxide from the cabin air filter when the vehicle accelerated and the air conditioner was activated. due to the odor, the contact experienced brief moments of dizziness and an abnormal feeling. the failure occurred without warning. the dealer diagnosed that the odor was due to the new vehicle smell dissipating. the vehicle was not diagnosed again. the manufacturer was notified of the issue. the failure mileage was approximately 90.

Strong rotten egg smell on hard acceleration.

This new 2015 ford explorer produces a very strong exhaust/sulfer smell inside the passenger cabin with all the windows up and the rear a.c. on. the smell is very strong when the vehicle is rapidly accelerated. with the rear a.c. off, and the front on, the smell is greatly diminished, but still noticeable during hard acceleration. the dealership has verified the problem and attempted to fix it four different times. ford has a tsb on the problem that includes sealing the rear a.c. intake ports and sealing the rear seams at the back of the vehicle, but none of these repairs have reduced the strong odor and noxious fumes inside the cabin. the fumes are strong enough to cause burning of the eyes, throat and nose.

When i notice my car wasn't right. 1-when i was in motion, every time i accelerated a burning smell came from the inside, had to open my window but the smell got stronger. 2-i notice a yelloish brownish stain on the passenger side windshield. 3-when i drove my car and got out of car,the burning smell was around my car.

When the vehicle is in motion accelerated on the gas entering a ramp on highway or going uphill there is an exhaust smell in the interior of the cabin even with circulation on.
