Popping noises from front pto . pto case split in half driving down the road with my kids in the car causing vehicle front tires to skid for a split 2nd and differential fluid spilling all over the under carriage causing smoke.
My window blew out on the rear hatch opening of my 2014 ford explorer xlt.. people saw it and said it just blew out. the vehicle was sitting stationary in my work parking lot. i was inside the school building. the vehicle was parked and not running for 4 hours. several witnesses described it as it just blew out.
Transmission not in park after shifting into park
The recall 19s17 (nhtsa 19v-435) affect the rear suspension .we bring in the car today and they replace the bad parts . now ford service is telling me that it affect my motor and transmission mounts but i have to pay $900 to replace those . vehicle is vibrating and shaking over 70mph . the mounts are here to minimise the vibration due to road defected , if the suspension don't do its work , and it wasn't because of the recall ... vehicle is only 90k miles
Exhaust fumes are entering the vehicle cabin while driving. the driver and passengers are overcome by the fumes and forced to roll the windows down to clear the smell and avoid getting sick. this mostly occurs when the vehicle is accelerating and the heater is turned on.
My alarm will go off at random times when it's sitting in my driveway. my keys would be hanging up or on the kitchen table no we're near anyone an my alarm will just go off.
The apin (navigation/display) system on this vehicle constantly blanks out so you loose all saftey information. gps constantly goes off course meaning your driving down a road and it has you floating off to the side of the road half a mile away and 1/3 mile behind or ahead of your location. this causes numerous re-routes including those that might not be safe to conduct. the heads up display system constantly blanks out and resets loosing all saftey information, sometimes it stays blank a long time. ford had extended the warranty for apin system they know is faulty to 5 years i took my vehicle into service both under warranty i paid deductible for as well as in 2018 to have it repaired; they applied the same updates over and over and refused to replace the faulty apin system. ford now refuses to assist and i feel this is major saftey concern, not only does the product just not function properly but i feel are major saftey concerns when the displays all blank out and reset or do not come back on... this occurs while driving. ford refuses to fix the problem and allowed the extended warranty they offered to lapse so that they could wash their hands of it. i feel this faulting system could result into a crash of some kind by distracting the driver when blanking out; rerouting improperly onto roads that do not exist. and so on.. this is constantly happening and sometimes it wont happen but a few months a part and other times it will happen several times a day with in each other.
Touch screen (back up camera, music, climate control, etc) sometimes does not turn on when turning on the vehicle. it continues to remain off, showing only the word 'ford'. eventually (after several minutes of driving) the screen turns black and then it turns on.
When suddenly accelerating to speed over 65 mph , exhaust gas/fumes enter the main cabin, and linger for sometime, until i open all windows to dissipate the fumes. this issue always occur during sudden acceleration. i have taken vehicle to dealer several times and they installed external seals but issue continues, even after the fixes.
During acceleration extremely strong smell of exhaust fumes can be detected by passengers seated in back and middle row of vehicle. during all other times lesser amounts of exhaust fumes are present within the vehicle. these fumes are strong enough to make occupants of the vehicle nauseous during long trips. even though ford has sent multiple notifications concerning this and indicating they will take small actions against this when we arrive at the ford dealership for repairs they deny any knowledge and refuse to repair the problem.
Fuel smell/fumes entering passenger cabin when ac/heat is on. sometimes at a stop or slow pace and windows are open fumes or smell is apparent. once parked you can smell from the front part of the vehicle in the hood near the wiper blades.
Trunk cannot open
I keep getting drowsy on long drives. my eyes get irritated. i have finally purchases a co monitor that can download data. the spike of 61 ppm occurred when i was accelerating to go over bath mountain headed east on 17 feb. the audible alarm went off so i knew i had a problem. the alarm goes off at 50ppm. i have complained to ford over 20 times, all they do is make changes to the exhaust in the rear. they refuse to acknowledge there is an exhaust leak that is entering the cabin in the front of the vehicle!
Exhaust smell in vehicle
In june of 2015 ford issued a tsb 15-0113 about a defect with the second row inflatable seat belt system that would exhibit an airbag warning light. this condition renders all airbags inoperable, not just the seat that is effected. on 12/29/2018 i took said vehicle in for service because of the airbag indicator light on the dash. a $54 part was installed at a labor cost of $650 to fix the problem. if you note figure 1 of the tsb the wire harness wraps around a seat support and the fix shown in figure 2 of the same tsb eliminates that wrap that which causes the wire to get pinched and severed. tsb 16-0001 was issued in january 2016 superseding the previous tsb. passenger safety is extremely critical and i'm wondering why your organization did not get involved, as passenger safety is one of your major concerns or ford was not required to address this issue up front, quickly and eliminate a potential safety hazard? my vehicle was at the ford dealer for service on the following dates;april 2015, december 2016, august 2016, february 2017 and not one time did any service tech look under the rear seat and reroute the necessary wire harness to eliminate a potentia life or death situation. only after a complete failure of my air bag system was anything done. this is an unacceptable safety violation by ford and all vehicles with this configuration should be recalled and fixed at fords expense. my family was at risk during the time the air bag indicator light was on and it could have been prevented.
While driving the interstate, my windshield trim started to peel away, striking the drivers side window as it got worse. i chose not to stop on the side of the interstate for safety reasons and by the time i arrived at the nearest rest area, 8-10" of the trim had come loose. as i was still 60 miles from home, i chose to tuck the trim into the door and close it, which kept it from tearing away anymore. the next day, the pieces had just fallen off into my driveway. i'm shocked that this is something that's happening to vehicles less than 10 years old - mine is only 4. i'm just happy that the whole thing didn't tear away (as in others reported on the internet) hitting someone or something and causing damage. the cost to repair is $265 per side - not covered by ford. i called ford and while they admit that this is happening to a large number of explorers, they will not cover it until a recall is issued.
When vehicle is stopped but running there is a gas smell that comes into the car but it does not happen all the time nor does it linger for very long after continuing to drive again.
My wife was driving on the highway, and at about 70 mph the passenger side windshield trim ripped off and landed on the highway. we are now missing the trim piece and weather stripping under it. the other trim piece on the driver side is loose as well. terrible design flaw!!!
Exhaust fumes in cabin area, after taking it to ford dealer for their "update" this happens under moderate acceleration, has a nasty odor and has caused me to have a headache at times
After accelerating to highway speeds i get exhaust odors. must noticed when rear ac is on.
Heavy smell of exhaust in the suv while driving carbon dioxide is an issue with this model. driving it makes me feel sick/light headed....
I noticed the rubber stripping along the right side of my windshield came loose while traveling home on the highway and tore away. after that, my right side windshield panel (pillar) came detached and flew away while traveling on the highway.
We just purchased the vehicle and took it on a road trip when driving we smelt strong exhaust odors more so when accelerating. we didnt think anything of it until we started getting headaches and our 2 children were complaining of nausea and dizziness an later on started throwing up. our return trip home we drove with the windows down as to keep fresh air in the cabin. we parked the vehicle and found there was alot of other people experiencing the same issue so we called the dealership we bought the vehicle from and are awaiting to hear back on what needs to be done.
When shifting the car into park it takes multiple attempts for it to lock in park and safely park the vehicle. in researching this problem i've discovered that there are 100's having this issue, and at $1300, to repair, why isn't it recalled?
My husband, son and myself were driving from high point nc to winston salem nc about 30 minutes drive, before arrive to our destination we have to stop almos in the middle of a road because we were feeling short of air almost unable to breath and feeling chest suppression and nausea our son give complain about the smell in the back seat but i was unable to feel it due to stuff nose. my husband had to drink two bottles of water and we got off the vehicle living all doors open, the odor was very strong. in may 15 2018 we took the vehicle to the dealer when we learned about the carbon monoxide recall they say they made the repair and today may 23 we almost crash. i thanks god we stopped and got off the car.
Experienced feeling dizzy while driving as well as fatigue often. i cannot drive far without risking our family's health and safety. i worry this is from the co in the car. this has been happening for years, but never thought it was from the carbon monoxide. won't ford fix this?
12 april 2018 accelerating up hill ac on. 80 degrees outside . no other passengers in the vehicle. vehicle was shifting around 5000 rom, in automatic, not manual. again i smelled a sulfurry propanish idor. it lasted about 2 minutes. i have had all recalls / service bulletins performed by my dealer. i have informed my dealer. help before ford kills me! there is exhaust getting into the passenger cabin!!!
The smell of exhaust was overwhelming and finally a "fix" was generated. the fix is worse than the original problem. now there is an extremely strong smell of gasoline that floods the cabin of the vehicle. this occurs when in idle, when driving, when other cars are around or if i am the only car in the lot. often i notice when the heating system is on.
Purchased in aug 2017, received customer satisfaction letter regarding carbon monoxide. took last month to ford dealer for fix and the exhaust fumes are now worse. i have to detectors in the car that both are alarming after driving only a few mins, my entire family has onset of headache if we ride in the car, i have to roll down all the windows. ford states they fixed the issue but it's worse now to me. it smells like a lawn mower on side cabin of the explorer
After several long trips with the 2014 ford explorer sport, i have had the feeling of being ill. specifically, headache, very weak, lightheaded and nauseous. has happened numerous times since i bought the car.
After driving and vehicle is to running temperature when you stop or are idle smell of exhaust type fumes enter cabin of car. have been to dealer twice and not sure problem is fixed. problem started at 38,000 miles. can hardly breath when occurs and have to open window. feel need to report because concerned for co2 safety. ordered co2 sensor for car for safety. please make ford do something about this.
My wife and kids complain of headache's and nausea after prolonged time traveling in said vehicle. smell of exhaust type fumes within the cabin area.
Driver side door ajar light continues to come on each time i start the car. i have to open and shut the door to get it to turn off. that occurred for one month. now the light will not turn off and the "transmission is not in park" light turns on while i am driving. in addition, the dome lights will not go off when i park the car unless i constantly adjust the light dial and eventually the dome light will go off when the doors are locked (30 minutes to get it off the other night). regarding the rear transmission noise. over 50 percent of the time when i am backing out of a parking spot, i hear a clunking sound as though i struck an object only to find that nothing is behind me. finally, when i enter my car and start it, i hear a loud popping sound in the front windshield like the windshield glass is cracking. no idea what that may be.
The smell of exhaust fumes in the vehicle with windows closed under many speeds. this is causing headaches and dizziness. initial complaints to ford dealer last year mentioned there was no recall or bulletin. later in the year i received a bulletin for repair. this was completed yesterday 1/24/18. will continue to monitor exhauste smell, but still have major health concerns.
Every time we drive our 2014 ford explorer and turn on the air conditioner or heater we smell a rotten egg type of odor and it makes my wife and child all nauseated and gives us headaches sometimes. many people have mentioned it to us as well when they are driving with us. it happens when we are parked, driving on the highway and just a city street.
I have a 2014 ford explorer or did !!!! on 1-18-2018 i passed out before being involved in very bad accident ! i was driving to work bright sunny day . passed out went thru stop sign a work truck hit my suv spun it around ! i recall nothing other than driving then waking up to my gps saying i was in a car accident and if i needed 911. i don't drink don't do drugs . 35 and healthy / my car went to the ford dealer for the recall on the c02 leaks and door panel . i made the appt a week prior the end of the day nothing was repaired they sent me the recall letter and fixed nothing! they didn't even check to see if my vehicle was at risk ! i know there are times they can check to see if my car was in fact one that needed attention! i feel no one should be driving these vehicles ! they should give free rentals . these cars shouldn't be on the road until repaired it's not just police vehicles anymore 100's of civilians have been affected . my car is totaled ! i'm told i'm lucky to be alive . the pictures are horrifying .im missing work for at least a month , i was checked for any medical problems that would cause me to pass out , none were found . i did notice the prior couple of weeks a moldy burning smell . almost like hair . and had headaches almost every day after driving to and from work . i am having a forensic expert checking my car to actually see if this was a contributing factor . i believe it was ! i have never passed out in my life . one minute i'm driving no cars around , next minute out like a light .im driving then hearing the 911 person on gps . i will never purchase a ford ! unbelievable ! i will report what i find out from forensics expert . if any of you still own one of these please put in a c02 detector . i could have died on this accident and worse could have killed someone else . i was driving on a regular backroad .
When placed in "park" it doesn't register sometimes. i have to fiddle with it to get it to register that it is in fact in park. otherwise my car battery will drain because it keeps the power on.
When putting the shifter into park a warning light comes on that says transmission not in park. you need to wiggle the shifter to get the warning light to go away and actually engage in park. i brought it in to the dealer and found out the shifter assembly is faulty and needs to be replaced. this is a $500 repair on a car that only has 33000 miles on it. i'm afraid if i don't replace it i will be stranded someplace because i won't be able to start it if it won't connect with the computer saying it is in drive. i feel this a faulty part from ford . this just seems like an expensive repair for a vehicle with such few miles on it. of course it is out of warranty.
A noxious odor resembling exhaust fills the cab of the vehicle intermittently, but not continuously on every drive. the odor is more noticeable at idle or stop. the odor seems to come from the heater/ac vents while they are blowing air. the problem has only been noted with the heater or air vents blowing as ac has not been used this time of season. on occasion, we have felt ill after driving (2 adults in their mid 40's, 2 children ages 6 and 10). the local ford dealer has performed the 'customer satisfaction/recall' work on the exhaust system with no improvement in symptoms. they have examined the car several times and have been unable to locate a cause or source of the smell. the car was purchased used 1.5 years ago from dealer (not certified pre-owned). the problem with the exhaust odor was not noted until a few months ago, but developed suddenly. aside from this issue, the car has not had any major mechanical or electrical issues since we have owned it.
Our vehicle contains a common backup sensor which beeps when it detects someone behind the vehicle. the system doesn't work approximately 5% of the time. my own brother has the same year ford explorer and he says that he has the same problem. several times we almost struck someone, including a small child, because the sensor did not go off. i took the vehicle to the dealer and they said that they couldn't duplicate the problem, so they couldn't fix it. that's ridiculous. does someone need to die for them to acknowledge that they have a problem.
For the past several weeks both me and my wife have noticed a weird smell coming from the 2014 ford explorer that we have. also on several occasions my wife has complained about feeling dizzy and nauseous from driving but we thought it was nothing serious. then about a week ago after driving the explorer home from work my wife began to feel lightheaded, nauseous and almost passed out while driving with our 4 young kids in the car. we ended up rushing her to the hospital to see what he problem was, which was the same day that we received the recall notice from ford about carbon monoxide poisoning that was happening in all 2011-2017 ford explorer models. so while she was in the emergency room we had her blood and oxygen levels checked for carbon monoxide poisoning especially because my wife is still breastfeeding our 10 months old daughter. i have recently took my vehicle to a ford dealership for them to correct this issue but my real concern is with this issue affecting millions of vehicles and people, what is the possibility of this happening again. we plan to follow up with our primary care physician to ensure that there are no signs of carbon monoxide being detected within anyone in my immediate family as we drive the 2014 ford explorer daily. i'm reaching out to find out what are some options that we have as ford consumers. i just pray that there are no more serious health issues with my wife and kids from the times they have been inside his vehicle inhaling these poisonious fumes.
Exhaust smell in passenger cabin after hard acceleration on highway.
I have been feeling very light headed and tired when i drive my 2014 ford explorer.
Vehicle telling me through the vehicle health report that there is carbon monoxide concerns.
Strong exhaust smell in the cabin of the suv. every time the accelerator is pressed for a acceleration that is fast a strong exhaust smell is noticed in the cabin of the suv. this is the same smell that comes from the exhaust pipes.
During acceleration, the smell of exhaust enters my cabin at an alarming rate.
My 2014 ford explorer windshield pillar trim fell off while i was driving on highway 95 and it could've hit another car and caused a car accident/deaths. i spoke to ford and they said they get calls on this issue all the time, but we have to report it on here for something to be done about it. i refuse to spend 100s of dollars replacing these pillar trims because they always fall off. if you go online you see 100s of people complaining about the same issue i have experienced. please do something about this before something horrible happens when these trims fly off of our cars.
This is a follow up to nhtsa id 11019920 filed 8/26/17. exhaust odor, smells like sulfur, strong, pungent, coming through dahs board vents during sustained acceleration and shortly after. the problem is repeatable every time: put vent system in recirculation mode, sustained acceleration over 3,000 rpm, wait 5 seconds, strong sulfur odor comes through dash board vents. i am now experiencing headaches on a consistent basis as i have been driving the vehicle more often for commuting since purchasing it in march 2017 with 25k miles. i am seeing a doctor and am building a case for more severe headaches with increased driving in my explorer. today, i decided to look under the vehicle - i am including photos of the exhaust manifold which shows a crack near the pipe-to-flange connection. and, no, my vehicle is not a police cruiser and it does not have aftermarket parts installed. how many more complaints do you need? tsb 14-0130 is ford's cheap attempt to hide a very serious problem and avoid a costly recall of over 1 million vehicles. the evidence continues to mount, injuries have occurred, countless explorer owners have expended much resources in filing complaints, and ford says, "these vehicles are safe. we have not found a safety issue here". ford has issued tsbs which do not address the problem. their latest insult to offer to "inspect and repair" rear lift gates and drain valves, and reprogram the air circulation system is laughable, nothing more than a distraction to hide the real problem. ford should put every explorer on a lift and inspect the exhaust manifolds, and do extensive testing of the vacuum system that is connected to the air circulation system. nhtsa: why is it taking you so long to address this problem? does someone need to die before you or ford take this matter seriously? you have the evidence you need to force a recall, now! *dt*jb
This vehicle was purchased used on october 19th. promptly after purchase the smell of carbon monoxide fumes were detected in the vehicle. with the use of a carbon monoxide detector the presence of carbon monoxide was confirmed and the dealer was contacted. we were told that ford was working on a solution. during a follow up call on the first of november we were told that the dealer had not been provided guidance for a repair. in a follow up call on december 8th, we were scheduled for services on december 15th. the repair was unsuccessful. current carbon monoxide continues to enter the cabin with levels recorded as high as 45 ppm when max ac is in use.
My 2014 explorer has bad fume smells in the cabin when accelerating to pass vehicles. i have taken it to the dealer once to have it repaired but it still does it. i have also had a fume smell in my nose that is there when i am not in the car. i didn't know what it was and am scheduled for an mri but i have recently realized the car cabin smells the same as the smell in my nose.
