The smell of rotten eggs can be smelt inside the explorer, especially when stopping at a stop sign. the exhaust can be smelled inside the car and gives me headaches

My 2014 ford explorer is emitting a smell in the the vechicle. i drive my truck all day 5 days a week with my job and i have been experincing dizziness and headaches and breathing problems. i borrowed a friends carbon monoxide for a couple of days and it detected readings of (co). i find that i have to drive with my windows open in order to have fresh air while driving so i don't get sleepy. the smell is persistant throughout my work day and i'm very concerned about the carbon monixide and how it is effecting my health. the odor occurs while driving, sitting in traffic of at red lights every day.

My windshield trim blew off when driving down highway and ford refuses to fix it.

Exhaust fumes enter cabin while idling or parked with engine running. the date listed was the last date the incident occurred. this has happened 6-8 times over the past year.

When driving car i have noticed it most when i have to accelerate quickly if the ac is running i get this strong smell of exhaust inside the car. in a few long distance trips i have had head aches and i have to think that the smell is the cause.

About a month ago i started noticing a strange exhaust odor inside my vehicle while the vehicle was being driven. it made me feel nauseated and dizzy while driving.

There is a horrible smell in my car when i am driving it. so bad that my children and i have been getting headaches not know what the smell is caused from. it is horrible fumes inside the card.

Carbon monoxide exhaust coming into car

There are gas/exhaust fumes coming into the cabin of the vehicle through the heater from the engine compartment. it smells like natural gas. it smells when standing outside near the engine compartment as well. i brought it to ford to fix it and they repaired some exhaust issues in the rear but it did not solve the problem. i am bringing it back in and now see that this is a huge problem with these cars from 2010-2015.

Several occasions exhaust fumes enter into cab area when accelerating with ac on. this is an ongoing issue. i have had vehicle in ford service to repair this issue, but even after several days in shop, issue has not been resolved

I recently bought a 2014 ford explorer. i've been noticing an exhaust leak/smell that leaks into the cab of the vehicle. the first time i noticed the smell was after accelerating on to the highway at about 3500-4000 rpm. it seems to get worse every day. as soon as the vehicle starts i smell it. the only time it goes away is when i'm cruising with the windows cracked and the heat turned down. as soon as i come to a stop or slow down from highway speeds i immediately get the smell in the cab. worried about carbon monoxide or any other toxic fumes entering the vehicle.

Since i purchased this vehicle new in july 2014, i have experienced a sulphur like smell in the cabin area of the vehicle when i accelerate. the odor is strong enough to make you feel nauseous and light headed. i have taken the car back to the dealership where it was purchased on two separate occasions. on one visit they claimed they had installed additional vents to eliminate the fumes. the second time, the exhaust was reportedly replaced. neither repair created any improvement in regard to the smell. additionally, i have experienced issues with the front suspension/steering area. the vehicle has been taken back to the dealership on two separate occasions to address the issue(s). the vehicle has a loud popping sound that emanates from the right front axle area when making a low speed turn. the first repair was reportedly a loose "boot cover". the second repair consisted of the installation of a "shim" to address the problem. neither fix took care of the issue long term.

My 2014 explorer when shifted into park and engine turned off an alert on cluster panel says "transmission not in park". sometimes i have to start engine, put shifter in reverse then back into park, turn engine off and the alert on cluster panel says "transmission not in park" sometimes i have to go through this scenario several times before the lever will actually be in park. the 2014 explorer purchased july 26th 2013 has 17,646 miles. i would like a response to my problem as soon as possible. thank you

Bad or burnt exhaust smell in cabin during acceleration with the recycle air on.

In dec 2016, my car began experiencing exhaust fumes in the interior. it progressively got worse to the point where i experienced headaches driving it. i took it in for service at santa margarita ford in rancho santa margarita, ca. initially they could not find an issue, said it might be exhaust fumes coming thru the windows. a second visit proved there was an odor while driving and they attempted a fix but the odor persisted. the service manager claimed it was not a covered defect and was a result of body damage or defects. my car has never been in an accident of any kind. i asked them to review again and speak to someone at ford. they proceeded to "fix" body seal issues which was extremely concerning that my vehicle's seal or welds would fail. the odors still persisted although not as strong. a 4th visit concluded with replacing exhaust components. when i purchased the vehicle, i also bought the extended maintenance and whole car warranty. i was charged at least 1 deductible and was without my car for 2 weeks while the dealer continued to work thru warranty coverage issues and repairing the car. i now read that this is a very prevalent issue with this model. at a minimum how do i recover my deductible payments for repairs?? and how am i assured this repair was done correctly now that the issue has been verified in thousands of other similar cars?

The moonroof over the back seat popped out and spiderwebbed when the front passenger door closed. some glass fell into the backseat. vehicle was parked and off.

Purchased 2 yr old explorer-certified-and immediately started having headaches, getting sleepy during hour commute to and from work. when car accelerates on highway the smell of fumes enters the cabin. after online research we realized that ford acknowledged a factory defect in the exhaust system of their explorers that leaks exhaust fumes and carbon monoxide (can be lethal) into the cabin. they also have a bulletin that states "carbon monoxide and other exhaust fumes entering the cabin are neither harmful nor deadly". really?! i guess we're all wasting our money on co monitors for our homes. and the several cops driving explorers, passing out and crashing from the co-some of whom were nearly killed-were in no danger either. wonder why austin, texas and a few other cities have pulled their entire fleet of explorers. i had to fight the local dealership to get them to pay for "repairs"---two different occasions. the first was a patch job which i fully expected, as well as a return trip to repair a month later. not convenient as it's an hour away in la traffic. first "repair" took over 3 weeks and they continually wanted me to return the rental car as it was costing them---i told them i would be glad to return it as soon as the car was fixed. they tried their best to get me to pay for each repair, which i refused as i purchased a certified-supposedly safe-vehicle which ford acknowledged had a known factory defect. same story with 2nd repair which took 10 days where they supposedly replaced the entire exhaust system. i have my doubts though as we have the same muffler and exhaust pipe which i would assume was part of the exhaust system. so far we don't smell any fumes in the cabin---what's scary though is that co has no odor so we're getting a co monitor for the cabin.

Smell of gas in cabin of vehicle. making passengers/driver nauseated. also a smell of gas (natural or propane) from outside the vehicle when walking around it.

There is a foul odor coming from the drivers side vents/outside vent just above the hood. the vehicle is in motion both on city streets and highway. it can come and go within the cabin and you can usually smell it outside the car when it stops moving. i brought it in to be fixed and despite this happening to hundreds of cars (i didn't know that at the time), the dealership said that i probably sucked something up. after saying it was probably the filter and then using a device to clean out the air box, the smell is still there.

We were parked at a store and all of a sudden, water starts dripping into the explorer from the sun roof, where the buttons are to turn on the front interior lights. we opened the sun roof and looked, and there was a puddle of water just sitting there. so now you have to drive with a towel next to the gear shift.

We were driving down i-95 north in south carolina and all of a sudden we hard a loud pop. it sounded like we blew a tire. when we got out to look, the front passenger door window had a crack in it. the crack continues to grow, traveling down from the center of the top of the window towards the car frame by the side view mirror. you can barely feel it on the outside of the window and on the inside you can't feel it at all. *tr

When driving, passenger door window cracked when going from hot to cold temperatures. ford refuses to fix it.

Periodic smell of fumes or burning smell inside the car when running. pronounced smell upon hard acceleration as from a stop or upon merging onto highway. has happened since shortly after buying this as a used car late last year. my boyfriend drives the vehicle a lot and thought it was just outside traffic smells entering the car but after using the a/c on recirculation mode, we realized it is coming from our explorer and especially upon hard acceleration.

Sometimes my car smells like rotten eggs. i notice the problem when i'm on the highway or when i'm going up a mountain with either my a/c or heater is on. sometimes i feel nauseated after driving my car.

I purchased an used 2014 explorer and been having issues with a gas odor. i was never informed about this problem when i purchased the vehicle. upon receiving a recall i then became aware of the problem. i brought it in and they supposedly corrected it. now it is worst. i will bring in again to fix the smell. my 11 year old daughter suffers from migraines and was placed on adult migraine preventative. my fiance has breathing issues and now uses inhalers. i believe the exhaust fumes is the cause of the medical issues.

Car has exhaust fumes coming into the vehicle ford has an internal bulletin on this issue but is still charging customers to fix the issue if over the 36,000. the exhaust pipes need to be redone, additional insulation along with a muffler that points down vs pointing up into the vehicle. ford is not rushing to fix this carbon monoxide issue!

While the engine is on , i smell an egg type of smell. visited a ford dealer and they said change the inside cabin air filter. worked for a while but smell returned. can smell after the vehicle is turned off.

Exhaust fumes are entering the cabin of my 2014 ford explorer thru the dash vents every time i stop making me sick to my stomach. these exhaust fumes smell like sulfur or rotten eggs but i fear that are poisonous gases like carbon monoxide as well. my dealer performed a "fix" last week involving a tsb 14-0130 but it has not helped. i fear that i am starting to get the run around. i am affraid to drive my car. please help me!

10/04/2016 my touch screen froze. i have no control of the heating and cooling in the back 2 rows of seats. navigation, radio, sirius, and more do not work. the vehicle was being driven on a city street when everything froze. car is still under warranty. a replacement screen was ordered but has been on back order for almost 4 weeks contacted ford customer service twice but they will not help. my delorship carlsbad ford said they can not get any information on the delay

There is an overbearing almost intoxicating sulfur/rotten egg smell coming in the cabin of the car any time accelerating. i got this vehicle new in 2014 and it has been doing it since day one. at first i wrote it off as new car or possibly the turbo. but now after reading the thousands others with same problem i am extremely concerned for my family's well being. i have been driving my infant in this car for two years and i am very upset that i could have put her health at risk.

Exhaust leak into cabin. exhaust enters the vehicle cabin during high rpm engine conditions. this condition occurs most frequently while driving at freeway speeds and while accelerating to pass slower vehicles. this situation occurs essentially every time this driving condition is employed, and the longer the acceleration period and the longer the duration of high rpm engine speed, the more dramatic the exhaust leak results.

I've owned a 2014 explorer sport for 3 years, and have had the 'rotten egg' smell off and on. i thought it was related to the twin turbo and the vehicle being new, as it only happened under hard acceleration (i now know it also primarily happens when the ac is on). 3 years later i finally took it in for service to discover a tsb had been issued for it. after further searching the web, i now see many others have the same issue - and also see that co has been entering the cabin, which really prompted this complaint. i'm also concerned that people are reporting the tsb does not fix the issue, and plan to carry a co monitor for a while to check.

Exhaust entering the passenger cabin when running the ac on medium or hard acceleration. it's been happening since the vehicle was new, leased new from ford. vehicle has approximately 25,000 miles on it.

We were driving down a rural road beginning to slow down, when the car did not slow down, it.went at fullspeed while hitting the brakes. then hitting a tree head on, causing a fatality. i did not.want the car destroyed, because i wanted a full investigation performed on the cause and the tps . i only received a blackbox info with limited info showing vehicle speed at crash. the only thing slowing vehicle was a ditch and the tree. also driver side belt came unattatched as well as middle passenger. only driver air bag and one.passenger airbag deployed.

Exhaust fumes in cabin during acceleration or pulling the boat and in the mountains it was measured and was over 12 ppm. it has been to the dealership multiple times for their fix. it is not repaired next week they are changing the exhaust. the fumes are coming in on the passenger side behind the glove box. hvac blending door would be my guess.they do not know how to repair it. we just returned from the mountains. had to ride with the windows down if not you would get drowsy. smelled like burnt hair or sulfur. please help

We bought our 2014 ford explorer limited in july of 2015 and straight away there was a very bad smell in the vehicle when accelerating over 3,000 rmp especially when the ac is on. i don't know what it is from but the smell is bad and makes me sleepy. we have asked ford about this and they say at this point they are not sure what could be causing this. so now i have a 30,000 car that i can't turn the air on in because if i do all i can smell is that smell. it is nauseating.

When i accelerate onto highway a foul odor takes over the cabin for a while. i have to open the windows to clear it. my son get nauseated when it happens. this has been happening for over a year. i just now started seeing information online about other people with this same problem. i am calling the dealer to inquire about the tsb that i saw online. my truck has been in the dealer multiple times and no pending tsbs were ever listed in my profile.

On 22 july i went to snowshoe, wv, and on 24 july i returned from snowshoe. i smelled sulfurish exhaust 4 times this trip. it occurred on uphill grades where the vehicle had downshifted. 3 new places, all at 55 mph or greater, uphill and involving a downshift, ie higher exhaust volume and pressure. indicating to me the problem is getting worse. like an exhaust seal breaking down. when i got home, i went to get something from the front passenger seat. when i went to open the door the odor was the strongest i has smelled it. reinforcing my belief it is exhaust escaping before the catalytic converter. also meaning i am probably getting a healthy dose of carbon monoxide all the time from this exhaust leak. please do a recall!!!!!
