Driver side door ajar light remains on when all doors are closed. doors will not lock, dome light comes on and warning sounds are constant when starting from a stopped or slow position.
The "passenger door ajar" sensor is defective, causing lights to stay on and preventing locking of the door.. doors can not be locked from driver side with "door ajar" light on, compromising safety and security.
Door ajar lights on when door is closed. interior lights stay on because of this problem
Door ajar light stays on when door is properly closed. causes interior lights to stay on making it dangerous to drive at night and not letting the doors lock.
Door ajar sensor not functioning properly. the driver's door incorrectly states that the door is ajar at all times. this causes the interior lights to stay on initially when driving, or exiting car. car beeps and flashes a warning which is distracting/dangerous. car will not lock while driving. this is related to the ongoing investigation, i just wanted to add that my vehicle started experiencing this about a month ago. the problem was intermittent at first, but is now continuous.
Door ajar light and dome lights staying on. doors will not lock when driving
The door ajar light will not go off and is now causing the dome lights to stay on after the car is off - causing a dead battery. the sensor is progressively getting worse - harder and harder to get it to shut off.
Driver door ajar alert comes on and stays on will not reset, at the same time interior lighting remains on for an extended time after turning car off and exiting. drains the battery. the door lacks are also effected unable to lock while car is on, the auto lock not functioning placing driver and passengers in jeopardy. the interior lights also effected when driving especially at dark due to an extended delay in going off after starting prohibits being able to see outside and drive safely. have reviewed many reports from other ford owners on this subject on you tube many of whiz have had very costly repairs done repeatedly on the same problem, some purchasing parts to repair only to find the parts were faulty as well.
Vehicle improperly signals driver's rear door ajar. seems to be a problem with a sensor in the door latch.
Drivers door ajar alarm and warning light occurs when the door is actually closed. the doors will not lock automatically. when you hit the switch to lock the doors they lock and then immediately unlock. dome lights stay on which makes driving at night unsafe. this occurs after starting the car in park and continues while driving.
Fuel level drops dramatically, the fuel indicator will drop up to 20 miles per every mile of actual mileage. gas seems to be leaking and odometers will skip numbers.
I have a door ajar issue with my 2013 ford edge. the light will not go off without slamming my door.
My driver door sensor constantly tells me that my driver door is ajar even when the door is completely shut, causing the doors not to lock, interior lights to stay on, a consistent beeping noise alerting me, and draining my battery several times. this is unsafe.
Driver door ajar - comes on constantly. recently had to get a new battery because the inside lights stay on. i put car in park as instructed and slam the door. it doesn't work very often. 90% of the time it doesn't work. also this is a safety issue because the doors do not lock. if there are children in the car, they can open the door and fall out of the car. this car needs to be recalled. this happens all the time.
The door switch to lock doors does not engage lights stay on doors do not lock it drains battery
Had the used edge almost one year now and this is the 3rd third time taking to the dealership for the same blinking problem. it is a 3 year old car with only 40k miles. first time was annoying but the dealership was professional and fixed under warranty. second time i was pissed because i had gotten online and did research about this apparently very obvious and common issue !!!!ford!!!! and to top it off the warranty had just ran out so i was forced to pay a 100 deductible. i was really steamed by this point. and guess what now...third time ... the tech said well maybe it just a problem with the part? so i asked are the parts not covered he said just for 30 days !? seriously? i told them they are eating the cost on this not me. the dealer will be paying for the crappy part that doesnt last not me. i imagine i will be talking to the autonation owner at some point... this is so stupid. my wife was in downtown la in a parking garage and in traffic at night with unlocked doors and her interior light on because ford is so ate up with profit that they will not fix this. all the dealerships should eat the cost every single time... maybe once they do it something will be done.,she is not driving the car until i get something done. pos. unbelievable that it takes this many repairs and complaints and nothing being done. i need to find out all the repairs on this car before i got it.. bet i see the same issue with the prior owner. same problem.while engine is on, car placed in drive, drivers door ajar lite is on and the doors all remain unlocked (not great with children in the car in parked traffic ) i live in la. the interior lite stays on as well and the chime stays on. once parked and engine off, we all exit car and close doors and the door will not lock and the interior light stays on... wonderful having your car parked on the road at nite like that here in la.
Drivers door states door ajar when door is closed. the locks will not work on any of the doors when this occurs. any one can jump in the car when stopped. if kids are in the back seat, they are able to open the doors when the car is in motion. when leaving the car we cannot lock the vehicle, belongings and pets can be stolen. almost $500 to fix this common saftey issue.
Drivers door ajar light stays on while driving , and the lights stay on 10 mins after the car is turned off . *tr
Door ajar light remains on constantly when doors are closed. the inside lights will not go off causing a drain in the battery. we have replaced the battery once due to this issue. please fix it now ford, we will probably not buy a ford again if this is the level of customer care that we are expecting to receive.
Driver door always reads ajar. some lights constant, drains battery . constant alarms, cannot lock doors.
The drivers side door ajar light comes on after the door is closed and the alarm sound comes on warning you of the door problem. this happens about two times a week and sometimes times you have to close the door about five times to correct the problem. sometimes this happens when the car is being driven and i have to stop the vehicle to reclose the door.
My driver door no longer registers as 'closed' when it is in fact closed. this problem has progressively worsened for a couple months. the problem with the door not registering as latched and closed means that you are unable to lock the door while the car is running. every time you attempt to lock it automatically unlocks it. at this point i have removed all interior lights (that stay on) so i can operate the vehicle safely at night until i have time to get this fixed. i'm just six months past the normal 3yr/36k miles warranty period and ford dealership is quoting a repair charge of nearly $500 to fix this issue. i understand this is a common issue and has been part of a large recall for other ford vehicles, but not at this time for the edge. it's a real nuisance. i'm concerned about not being able to lock the doors while operating the vehicle.
Left front door ajar. after closing the door door ajar warning light still stays on and cabin lights on. need to close very hard couple of times to get rid of "door ajar" warning light and cabin lights to off.
I have been dealing with this door latch sensor issue for the duration of my ownership on my ford edge. i don't see how it is possible that our vehicles meet nhtsa standard federal motor vehicle safety standard (fmvss) no. 206, door locks and door retention components. the testing for that standard would have been done in a laboratory, and it is apparent that contaminants out in the field are making their way into the door lock assembly and compromising the sensor - it is not a stretch to consider the latch itself may be deteriorating as well. there is no way to know if the door is fully shut. the interior lights coming on while driving at nighttime from the unpredictable sensor. i just replaced a battery 10/3/16, failed from the sensor draining it repeatedly, bought the largest capacity oem replacement i could get for it from from the dealer. while parked, even for hours and days on end untouched, the car will periodically sense the door is opened and closed (though it hasn't been), and the parking/convenience lighting will come on and go back off again.
Door ajar error happening when door is closed. error causes beeping, dome lights staying on, and prevents locks from locking, all while car is moving. the lights stay on for extended amount of time causing me to replace the battery.
Driver door ajar light stays on long after car is parked or driving along with inter lights stay on tire pressure sensor stays low pressure random times cold or hot weather
For the past several months i have been having a problem with a message telling me that the driver door is ajar. the message tells me to put the car in park and shut the door. after several tries to get the message off, sometimes it will work but most of the time i end up shutting and reshutting the door to get the message off. and while the message is on the interior lights stay on. sometimes i spend hours trying to get the message off. i have been told that it is a sensor. this needs to be fixed. a recall must be made to take care of this problem. also, in addition to the lights staying on, the doors will not lock. it is very annoying and not safe. also, i am worried that the battery will run down. i am getting to the point that i don't even want to drive the car.
Door ajar latch not functioning properly. door is closed but light still on.
Low oil engine pressure at all times indicated, olmost since purchase 2 yaers ago.when vehicle is in motion on a city or highway .
Door ajar light remains on even though door is obviously closed. interior light stays on until car accelerates beyond 5 mph (?) and door ajar light stays on for length of trip. 'shift to park' yellow warning appears whilst driving but stopped at a light. when closing and locking door after parking, car honks twice signifying unlocked door. light stays on, possibly draining battery.
When i close my drivers side door and start my 2013 ford edge, it thinks my door is ajar. this is a latch problem and the vehicle does not recognize that the door is closed. as a result, the doors will not lock. i have seen many complaints of this problem on the web. i am hoping that the nhtsa will force ford to recall these vehicles and fix the problem.
The door ajar light remains on for the driver side door although the door is latched properly. this happened and was "fixed" with a new sensor 1 yr ago. now it has started again. while the light is on the doors do not automatically lock while driving (especially dangerous with 2 kids), the lights inside remain on after the car is shut off (although i cannot prove it is related to this i have already changed the battery once on this car), if the car is locked while off at times the sensor trips itself and then the alarm starts going off on its own randomly, therefor now i have to leave the car unlocked so that the alarm does not bother my neighbors in the middle of the night.
The driver door is ajar light comes on and the door is completely shut.
The left door ajar sensor light stays on after all doors are closed securely. the doors do not automatically lock after starting to drive. the dome light stays on for a long time. the warning signal beeps every time we step on the brake and is very annoying.
The rear driver side door ajar light stays on all the time and the door is not open. the interior lights stay on at least 5 minutes after turning the car off, therefore running down the battery. we just had to put in a new battery. the doors won't automatically lock while driving because it thinks the rear door is open. it doesn't matter how many times you shut the door, the door ajar light stays on. very frustrating!! so many other complaints about this same problem, it needs to be recalled!!!
Door ajar stays on for drivers side. must shut door many times before it goes off, if it goes off at all; leaving the doors unlocked as well as lights on in the interior of the vehicle. very unsafe driving at night in those conditions. waiting for door to open at any time.
Driver's door ajar light stays on when door is closed
The sensor for the driver door ajar keeps popping up. i have to close the door numerous times before it will allow me to lock the car. if i don't then the interior dome light will remain on. this happens while driving or when parked. if i am driving then the dome light remains on until i can get the sensor to turn off.
Left door sensor/latch is not working properly after 65,000 miles. affects door locks while driving and parked. the door locks go up and down intermittently and unexpectantly. affects overhead lighting and the remote start. dangerous to have the doors not locked especially if young kids are in back seat.
My vehicle begun having problems on the drivers side door at around 40,000 miles whenever i would open and close the door. it would flash "door ajar" and the interior light would stay on when i started to drive. once i would slow, the dash would also have a "shift to park" warning flashing. the doors would no longer lock when i was driving, and i was unable to secure the vehicle when it was parked. the interior lights would remain on. it took my local ford dealer almost 2 weeks to fit me into their schedule to have it looked at, and it cost me over $500 to have it replaced. this has been reported as a common problem in these vehicles and should be treated as a safety hazard. it was very distracting and unsafe when you can no longer secure your vehicle, especially someone with a child.
When you get in the car and start the engine (while still in park) the driver door ajar warning light comes on even when the door is securely shut. we must open and reclose the door several times in order to get the warning light to go away.
About a year ago had issue with car battery and car not starting. told dealership of issue with dome light coming on and the door ajar alarm noise but not the ajar light. they said this sometimes happens with bad battery. now the door ajar light comes on, the interior light comes on, the door ajar alarm sounds, my doors will not lock, and an alarm on my dash tells me to stop and put my car into park. this started over a year ago with the battery and now a year later we have had constant issues with the door ajar light that is now progressing. light and alarms out of nowhere, doors not being able to lock, and the probability of car batteries going dead because interior lights won't stay off is a hazard not to mention trying to see at night with the interior lights unable to go off. something needs done. all of this can happen when in motion or at a stand still. it started off being just when you first got in to start the car, now it can be while you are driving.
Driver door latch assembly became faulty at 53000 miles. car doors would not lock automatically as designed when the vehicle reached 15 to 20 mph.. the vehicle had to be driven with doors unlocked at all times. stopping at an intersection with doors unlocked created a safety situation. audio alarms kept going off as the vehicle was in motion. the audio alarms indicated the driver door was ajar which was not true. instrument panel displayed false visual alarms while vehicle was being driven resulting in driver distraction. driver was instructed to place the vehicle in park while vehicle was in motion. engaging the brake pedal at a stop light or stop sign resulted in the vehicle audio alarms going off once the brake was released. audio alarms were annoying, distracting and frustrating to driver. vehicle latch was replaced by private mechanic, computer was reprogrammed for a total cost of $454 out of owner's pocket. owner was informed by mechanic that ford had issued a technical service bulletin so ford was aware the issue was common.
The door open warning light stays on even when its closed, this is not allowing the doors to close properly , this also causes the panic alarm to go off and it keeps the dome light on while driving causing glare at night due to the bright dome light staying on. this also drains the batter due to the constant intirior lights staying on when the car is parked and closed
Driver door lock would not lock. warning light, dome light and warning single stayed on. door would not latch, had to have lock replaced by dealer.
I smell carbon monoxide inside the truck. it smells when car is running and i'm coming to a stop or driving slowly or pulling into the garage.
Door ajar light staying on even after door has been completely shut.
Past year car warns to shift into park; although in park. warning that drivers door is ajar, when it is closed. this causes the interior lights to stay on, cant lock the doors and causes my car alarm to go off at any given time. the dealer has been unable to fix. please recall this. there and tons of complaints on this site and all over the internet. how can ford ignore this???
For about a month the door ajar signal stays on when door is closed. interior light stays on. not able to lock doors while in or outside of the vehicle. while driving (streets or highway) the shift to park indicator lights up, the door ajar indicator comes on, interior lights turn on, all the doors unlock and the door open chimes are heard. when i initially checked for recalls there are several internet stories from 2014 related to this issue on the ford edge. i was told about a recall that had been issued on ford vehicles so i took my edge to south bay ford on saturday, august 5, 2016. i was told that my edge was not on the recall list. on august 4, 2016 cnbc reported the recall of about 830,000 ford vehicles (http://www.cnbc.com/2016/08/04/ford-recalls-830000-2012-2016-ford-and-lincoln-vehicles-to-fix-latches.html) . to my surprise the 2013 ford edge is not listed.
Driver door ajar won't go out or comes on randomly wile driving and interior lights come on and won't go off. dealer says it is not a safety issue? why can police ticket you for driving with interior lights on if it not a safety issue? why do the doors lock automatically if it is no a safety feature? 42,000 mi
