Driver door adjar when shutting the door the interior light stays on and doors will not lock this happen's every time i shut my driver door it's a safety hazard when your locks don't lock and you interior lights stays on
Our drivers door latch indicates door is open, however, door is closed. i see that this was considered not to be a safety issue by you, however, at night the dome lights do not turn off making it difficult to see when backing up, etc. the door thinks it is open and my greatest concern is the automatic locking mechanism does not work on our car, hampering the safety of my grandchildren riding in the back seat. please clarify how this is not considered a safety issue. article: the investigation opened last september looked into complaints that the door ajar was always illuminated, making it hard to occupants to tell if the doors were properly latched. according to a investigation summary, the national highway traffic safety administration identified 1,983 complaints for 2011-13 model year edge vehicles.
The door latches used on the 2013 edge (and other models) contains the sensor that detects the door being closed. in my instance, the issue is with the driver's side door. when the switch does not detect that the door is closed, the dome lights will not turn off until the vehicle achieves a certain speed and the doors cannot be locked while the car is started. at night, the dome lights staying on hinders vision and poses possible injury and damage to any pedestrians or objects that may be in the way of the car with this issue. i have almost hit a tree leaving my driveway since i could not even see the driveway. i fear hitting pedestrians in my neighborhood while on the way to work, since i leave before sunrise. as for the doors not locking while the car is started, this could pose a safety issue to the occupants of the vehicle allowing for access to be easily obtained to the interior in the instance of carjacking, etc.
My wife complained of the smell of rotten eggs and a severe headache while driving with the climate control on, when she shut it off and opened the windows it dissipated. this is a condition common to breathing carbon monoxide, i'm a retired, union trained, heating and cooling specialist. we took the vehicle to our local ford dealership and after they looked at it they claimed we would be responsible for a $2000+ repair related to ford service bulletin tsb 14-0201 (exhaust sulfur odor after hard acceleration - climate control in recirculation mode only). the above is a false statement since it occurs in any, climate control, mode. this bulletin covers how to remove the exhaust and clean areas of the undercarriage where seam sealer and expandable foam is to be applied. this is fords responsibility since it is a defect in some (2011-2014 edge, 2011-2015 mkx) of there product line. the date below is not exact since it is a reoccurring problem. please help asap!!
Rear left door ajar light stays on keeping the courtesy lights to stay on after the car is off causing the battery to drain.
I have been having numerous problems with the passenger side door latch always reading that the door is ajar. there is no amount of force shutting the door that makes it go away. i am aware of the problems that have been going on with several models of ford vehicles. i consider this a hazard for several reasons. the door locks will not automatically engage.for the entire vehicle because of this, potentially causing the doors to open if there were any type of impact. there is also the random locking and unlocking that occurs which makes my vehicle impossible to secure. i want to file this complaint in hopes that ford will correct this problem from their end and not charge the consumer a minimum of 500 dollars per latch for a fix that has not been guaranteed.
For about 6 months now sometimes when i park and put the gear in park the warning light stating "shift to park" will come on even though the vehicle is in park and off. up until about a month or so ago i would push the gear forward and the warning would go off but now i have to play around with it (back and forth) and really force the gear forward before the warning will go away.
The door ajar light will not go off. i have to slammed my door several times in order for the light to go off. now the light will not go off and im unable to lock my door. i have had to replace the battery 2 times because it drains the power. my driver side door even opened as i was making a turn. this is extremely dangerous. this issue should be covered under a recall. there have been several complaints and nothing has been done. this matter should be looked at very closely and swiftly and for those who had to pay $400 - $450 to have it repaired should be reimbursed by ford for safety issues.
'driver door ajar' notification is present while in motion in spite of door being closed/latched. doors won't lock while in the car (whether in motion or stationary) & alarm cannot be set because of this. several times, the notification wasn't present only to pop up while driving & doors unlocked & wouldn't lock again. sometimes notification goes away but it's been increasing in frequency the last month & a half. "driver door ajar" notification is present more often than not. safety is an issue & frustration is high. slamming the door doesn't work. shutting the door lightly doesn't work. shutting the door normally doesn't work. there's no rhyme of reason to it. regarding "when did this happen", it's been happening for the last month & a half (beginning of sept until now) .
Driver door ajar light stays on, because of that inside lights stays also on and drains my battery. (i already replace battery). i hate to be throwing my door to try to shut off that light ajar and that it's causing a mark on the outside of my door. i just bought my edge last year and apparently a lot of peoples are having the same problem but it's not mark as a recall when it's factory fault. please review the problem and fix it other wise it's going to be a problem for future buyers, i love my edge but this situation it's getting to annoying and frustrating, please fix this problem asap thank you
Door ajar switch failed. interior lights would not shut off causing glare problems while driving on the highway at night. doors would not lock
August 31, 2017: traveling 80mph (without cruise control, in left hand lane that had no shoulder), engine suddenly lost power, dropped below idle speed, & running rough. managed to limp car to right shoulder without incident! info system displayed a "yellow wrench" "see owner's manual." has occurred 4 times prior to this incident under 40 mph. engine died completely one time with "low oil pressure" message. everything has been checked. no codes & oil system is fine. have discovered on line that there is an issue with throttle body across several ford models. the second time this failed was right after making a turn. this last incident which has brought me here to lodge a complaint, was very scary and could have caused major loss of life. why are there no recalls! i have just found a california class action lawsuit regarding ford throttle deceleration defect. after each incident the car restarts & runs normal. i never know when it going to quit!
The driver side door ajar light will not go out. at first after closing the door several times the light would go out, now the door ajar light stays on.
The 2013 ford edge door ajar keeps lighting up saying the door is ajar when the door is clearly shut. the major problem is the doors will not lock.
The engine will not start when the temperature outside is high (105+ degrees). during the heat of the day, engine will not start (no clicking, no sounds, nothing). radio comes on, air comes on, i am able to change gears, roll down windows, etc. there are no issues in the morning or evening when the day is cooler. the check engine light does come on only when i am having the issue. once car eventually starts, the check engine light goes off.
Door ajar sensor won't turn off after door is closed. repeated slamming of door doesn't release door ajar sensor. door ajar will come on during operation of vehicle. interior light remain on even when door is closed.
The door ajar light keeps saying the door in my 2013 ford edge (with less than 35,000 miles) is open when in fact it is closed. it will pop on while i am driving, sounding an alert and turning on the interior lights. (which is enough to scare the heck out of you) other times, when i get in or out of the door it will just stay on. this leaves the interior lights on draining the battery to dead.so as of lately, i have been getting in and out through the passenger side door.
Last year i brought my edge in for door ajar light to a ford dealer. they fixed it and it cost 225.00. this was july 14 2016. it has started to do the same thing less then a year. this can be a safety issue because if you just press the ok and the light goes out the doors will not lock. and if you have children in the back they can still open the door.. ford should be responsible to have this fix not the consumer.
The door ajar warning will not go off with the door closed . it will do it after driving for a few miles and when first started. i can no longer lock my car at night because the alarm will go off due to this issue and wake everyone up. i have been reading many complaints about this issue, and for as much as these cars cost , i can't believe ford has not issued a recall to fix it. this is a safety hazard due to me not being able to lock my doors at night, and because while driving, the doors unlock. please expedite this investigation for myself and the thousands of others this has affected.
Purchased car jan 2017, started having troubles 5 months later + sunroof won't open, then when does, won't close. go to put in park, tells you car isn't in park when it is and seat won't move! airbag light comes on at random and stays on. of course it goes off when you take it to the dealership! low air tire pressure light comes on and stays on no matter the temperature outside. no problem with tires... trying to talk to anyone on the cars phone feature hasn't worked since week 2... keeps dropping calls even when sitting in the same place which is extremely frustrating when talking to my truck driver husband! happens whether driving or stationary! really starting to feel like we got stuck with a lemon here and no money for another car!
Shift to park warning on the dash comes on when the car is in park. this causes the battery to run down. i was told the problem is in the shift assembly.car has 19,000 miles.
The rear window exploded, for no reason! the car was parked in my garage and hadn't been driven for 3 hours.
When you shift into drive the door adjar light comes on, the chime and message to shift to park and the inability to lock the doors. it causes a safety problem for the driver. very expensive to repair.
Door ajar warning light and alarm comes on even when door is securely closed. no matter how many times the door is closed or how hard it is slammed, the warning continues. also, the dome light will not go off, and the doors will not lock while the warning is on. the noise is driving me nuts! had this same problem when the car was 1 year old and now it is back again. 40,000 miles so no warranty. obviously they do not have a permanent fix for this recurring problem. the door ajar warning comes on as soon as i start the car, and continues when the car is in motion. again - the door is securely closed!!!
Door ajar issue see attached. 5th complaint and no response safety issue when door flung open while driving , 8 year old child was in the vehicle!!!
The left rear door ajar notification light on the dash will not go off, even though the door is shut. which means the dome light stays on and the doors will not lock. this happened when the door was opened, but no matter how many times, or how much force is used to close the door, the notification won't go away, and the doors won't lock while in motion.
Drivers door ajar light and signal remain on all the time.
When the driver door is closed the door ajar warning remains on. this causes the dome lights to stay on when car is turned off causing a battery drain. also the door ajar warning sounds and dome light turns on whenever you come to a stop and then lift foot off the brake. this makes it very unsafe at night when trying to backup. this also causes the automatic door locks to not engage either. this car is a little over three years old and this should not be an issue. very poor design on the door ajar sensor. researching i have found many edge owners with this issue. ford should address this immediately because this is a major safety issue.
The door ajar light is coming on even when the door is closed. this is preventing the dome lights from turning off in order to drive and also draining the battery. is is a safety issue at night and when i park my car and the battery dies.
Car door is shut and alerts that driver door is open when not moving and driving down the road. dome lights won't go off, can't lock door with key pad on door. alarm continues to go off that door is ajar when it's not while driving down the road. it only happened occasionaly in may, now today 7/17/17 it will not go off, shows door is ajar all time!
Driver side door ajar warning comes on and door is not open
Door ajar/ door latch issue. when my door are closed it still says its open i have only had this car for year and half and i want to refuse to drive it because i have 2 kids and the doors will not lock while driving and my lights in the car stay on. i been readings its huge issue with ford, i refuse to pay $500 bucks for something that should be fix already. what do i do?>
Door latch doesn't latch disabling door locks and it is a hazard. was told not on recall. heavy smell of exhaust. when filling gas the evap code comes and it is rough to start.
Door ajar sensor doesn't register and tells the car that the door isn't closed when it is. leads to drained batteries when parked due to car thinking the door is open and we have been stranded multiple times. it also triggers multiple alarms during the entire driving experience that are hazardous due to taking attention off of the road to read what's wrong and look at the screen.
My 2013 ford edge sel has a "door ajar" message indicator that prevents my doors from locking and interior lights from going off while driving and after parking. i have to "repeatedly" open and close the door to try and get the "door ajar" message to go off and allow the doors to lock and interior lights to go off. when parking car and leaving car, i remotely lock the doors, but the "door ajar" message stays illuminated and interior lights remain on (which are hard to notice in the day time and has caused my battery to drain on several occasions) (this has "cost" me on several occasions to have a tow truck to come and electrically jump my vehicle to get it started)... i then have to "repeatedly" close the driver door to try and get the "door ajar" message to go off along with the interior lights.
Driver's-side door constantly says "door ajar." light on dash does not go out. in-car alarm constantly dinging, saying the door is open, when it is clearly latched. automatic door locks do not work. cannot use keyless entry because the car believes the door is open.
The door ajar light is always on and the interior light stay and which causes the battery to die. i have to open and close the door numerous times in order to get the interior lights off. sometimes the door won't even catch and has flown open while driving with my 8 year old child in the vehicle
My door ajar light stays on when my door is shut and i had a dead battery 2 times
Door ajar light comes on even when all doors are closed. light will come on when driving, dome lights come on and during night driving this is very dangerous and blinding. this will drain the battery, not to mention the outrageous cost to get this "fixed" at a ford dealership. this has happened multiple times since i bought the card used from a ford dealer one year ago.
The latch caused a problem so the vehicle kept giving me a "door ajar" warning. since it thought the door was ajar, the interior lights would not go off, eventually causing a dead battery. this was a problem driving at night since the interior lights were on continually causing it difficult to see. it also was a problem for me, as a woman i didn't feel i could use my car for activities, especially in the evening, if i had to worry about coming out to a vehicle with a dead battery and no help available. i had this repair through my local shop, so i could trust using my car. the cost of the repairs was $392 which was not covered by warranty. there have been recalls on most of the ford models for this year, but not the edge. same problem...why aren't we getting the repairs needed at not cost.
Door ajar latch/sensor continues to stick which keeps the door ajar light on and keeps the interior lights and park lights on after turning off car, closing door, and locking car. interior lights and park lights are hard to notice during daylight hours and this results in draining battery which leaves the owner stranded. this happens repeatedly!
My 2013 ford edge was recently serviced to correct a problem which was the car alarm coming on and random times and an interior light coming on to say driver door ajar. this door ajar light has been coming off and on for over a year, i just lived with it. would slam the door while driving to see if it would go off. annoying. the ford dealership in roseburg or did my service work as they do since i have purchased the car from them. looking online, i see that this problem with a failed driver door latch is something many ford owners have complained about. i feel that ford has been aware of this problem with their product and i don't feel that us vehicle owners should be the ones footing the bill to get a new latch installed to fix their problem!! i paid $555 to get this problem diagnosed and a new latch installed. the part itself was $214.70 and the rest was for labor and the diagnosis. seems very, very high price to pay for this problem that ford should be paying for.
Door ajar light comes on while driving down the road, and won't shut the dome lights off after shuting off vehicle and exiting and shuting door.its happened many times moving and stationary.
Door ajar signal alarm for driver side door sounds when door is closed. shift into park and close door message shows on screen. takes three or more times closing the door before signal will go off. doors will not lock until that signal goes off. option to press ok is given but that does not solve the safety issue. warning continues at speed rate of 60 mph or more. interior dome light will not go off if door ajar signal is still showing on computer screen which causes drain of battery power. 24,557 miles on 2013 edge. safety recall needed!!!!!!!
Door ajar continues to stay on despite doors being closed. unable to lock doors (all doors) while driving. interior lights stay on. interior lights come on while driving making it difficult to see at night. unable to lock doors with keypad. unable to tell if door is actually closed or not while driving.
Driver side door ajar when doors closed. shift to park comes on. makes this very dangerous in the event of a real occurrence of the door not being closed properly. takes several slams of the door to sometimes fix it. sometimes it does not take care of the situation. happens when in motion and not or slowing down to a stop sign or traffic light. ford needs to make a recall on this as many others are affected.
Driver side door latch warning even when door is latched and closed properly. have already taken it to dealer for a "fix" approximately 1 year ago, and now it started again. door open sensor stays on, dome light stays on and doors cannot be locked.
2013 ford edge has a continual problem where door sensors on 2 of 4 doors indicate that the door is ajar, when it is actually closed. the interior lights come on (and stay on) when starting the car or when driving at low speed, which is dangerous, particularly as it interferes with night vision. the doors won't lock due to this warning message. the driver's door is affected by this sensor problem, which also causes a bell warning that the door is ajar, and repeated dash warnings to put the car in park. repeatedly slamming the door closed temporarily helps, sometimes. the driver's door sensor was fixed (but not replaced) while the car was under warranty. the problem returned within a few months. when i took it in the second time, i had the driver's door sensor cleaned (the dealer wanted almost $400 for this, but reduced it to $260 after my complaint, vs $500 to replace each sensor) which was helpful for less than 2 months. this is a dangerous, known problem with these defective door sensors that is highly distracting for drivers, which interferes with night vision, and the ability to lock the car doors while driving. the ford dealer acknowledged that this is a known problem, but will not repair it for free (no recall issued). these door sensor errors happen every time i drive this vehicle currently (80,500 miles), whereas it was a frequent yet intermittent problem from about 30,000 to 60,000 miles. the interior lights come on when starting the car, as they should, then the warning messages come on on the dash, and both the lights and the warnings stay on when driving at low speeds. sometimes the interior lights and warnings will come on while driving at normal speeds, for no apparent reason; when this happens at night, it is very dangerous. ford needs to recall this part and protect drivers.
I have been having a problem with the driver's door of my '13 ford edge limited indicating that it is ajar (warning and interior lights on) when it is not. in order for it to quit, i have to either very firmly close the door (slam it) or open and close it a few times until it senses that it is in fact fully closed. it is also draining my battery because when i exit the vehicle sometimes the interior lights stay on. there have been a few occasions that i had to jump start my car. the door ajar light stays on when the vehicle is parked and in motion.
02 vehicle keeps stalling when trying to accelerate. leaving an intersection, in traffic, it will not go, is going to get me killed. dealership is aware of problem and has not solved it. i look on internet and there are thousands with same problem
