When shut, the door does not register as such. i have had to open/close it several times before the "door ajar" signal goes off. this issue has been progressively worsening, and now i believe the 'sensor' has completely failed. the door shuts, locks, and arms the alarm, yet the dome light and ajar symbol continue to stay on. ford has told me this is a "wear and tear" issue that they will not cover! i have seen this issue affect many ford models between 2001-2015 but more prominently when it comes to the edge. i got the vehicle 08/2015 and this issue started occurring intermittently by 12/2015; now, this is occurring each time i have to open the driver door.
Driver door alarm beeps when door is closed. interior lights stay on. this occurred earlier this year and ford 'cleaned off' the sensor. started to happen again several weeks ago. ford is replacing the sensor, but we have to pay for this because the issue has not qualified for a recall. please submit a complaint if this is happening to your 2013 ford edge.
Door switch, drivers door is shut and the door ajar light is on and will not lock the doors when in motion and keeps the dome light on . i have made a complaint with ford case number cas8223825 . they done see to care. why should i pay for something that should be a recall as it is a safty issue
Falutly drivers side door latch sensor. my door ajar light comes on and the interior lights won't go off. when driving the console screen beeps every minute to tell me my door is ajar.
Parking doesn't engage at times. i get a message "shift to park".
Sensor tells me that the drivers side door is open, when it is obviously closed. interior lights stay on and doors will not lock until i slam the door several times. very frustrating while driving to have the dash beeping at you
Driver side front door sensor has malfunctioned. it indicates the door is open even when it is closed. alarms sound and the doors do not lock when the car is in motion. car was taken to ford to repair and i was told they would only clean the contacts which is only a temporary solution and each time they charge a fee.
The driver side rear "door ajar" warning light goes on even though the door is closed and locked. it keeps the interior lights on even when i start driving, which is very distracting during evening hours. the lights stay on for more than 5 minutes after parking the car.
Faulty switch causes driver's door ajar indicator to stay on even when door is closed. dome lights stay on and can not lock doors when driving.
When doors are closed sensor is still showing open doors, doors will not lock and cabin lights remain on, making it impossible for driver to recognize an actual open door which then places passengers in danger when door does remain open. sensor doesn't recognize doors to be closed so it prompts for car to be placed into park when in drive so door can be closed. today while driving my daughter who was sitting in the back seat had the door fling open while the car was in motion. the door sensor has been showing that the door is open so when the door was actually open i was not able to tell and put her in danger.
The drivers door sensor intermittently does not recognize the door is closed and therefor will not automatically lock the doors when the car moves. the doors will not lock manually with the door lock switch as the sensor sees the door as being open and will automatically and immediately un-lock them. manually locking each door will lock the doors but this is inconvenient and not a solution to the problem. this is an ongoing problem.
Passenger door says ajar after shutting door. can open and shut over and over and sometimes it will go off, other times will not. causes lights to stay on when vehicle is running and not running. safety concern: the doors will not lock, leaving the back doors unlocked with small children able to open the door while car is in motion.
Door ajar when door is closed causing dome light to stay on after exiting the vehicle also making in unable to lock doors which is a safety issue
Shift to park we have continued to have problems with this problem even after spending $313 on 9/23/15 to have it repaired (current date is 10/29/17). we put it in park & turn off the car, but we get the message to "shift to park" on the screen & the screen won't go off which then can run out the battery. it gets to the point where the car won't even start. seems like many complaints have been posted about this same problem on different models. ford should have repaired this for free &/or should reimburse any one who has had to pay for it.
I am the owner of a 2013 ford edge limited and know numerous other ford edge owners with this same issue. the driver's door ajar sensor fails and shows the warning light that the door is ajar when shut. now doors won't lock while driving, interior lights momentarily stay on and the alarm beeps ( warning that the door ajar is keeping it from setting properly. the interior dome light stays on and so does my rear cabin light. both lights stay on as i'm driving. it is a safety issue! when i looked online, i found that it is a wide spread problem.
Door ajar light keeps coming on even when door is shut. the lights stay on and doors will not lock.
My driver side door ajar error message stays on when the key is on and when driving. this is a safety issue as i cannot reset it and a warning beep continues as the error cannot be cleared. started a month ago and would randomly appear now it stays on. also when i lock my car now with the remote it beeps twice not once. i feel there could be an issue with security now too.
The door sensor on the driver's door is faulty and will report the door as ajar when it is positively not ajar. this prevents the car from being able to be locked and causes the interior lights to come on. this has been reported by numerous persons and ford will not address it.
While driving, my car made an alert that the left front (driver's) door was ajar although it did not seem to be. i stopped at the next light and reclosed the door yet the alert did not go away until the door was closed aggressively a couple of times. since that initial incident, this has occurred several times and has gotten to the point that the alert remains on at all times. after tracking down the problem myself i discovered that the problem is primarily due to a design flaw in the door ajar sensor. after consulting with a local ford dealership and an internet search, it's been discovered this is a persistent problem with the ford edge and many other ford model vehicles which use this same part and always the driver's door (potentially because it's the most used). this is a safety issue and a recall needs to be issued due to the following: 1) the dome light stays on and creates a night driving hazard; 2) the dome light stays on and creates a safety hazard when sitting in a public area at night; 3) the false door ajar signal prevents the driver from recognizing a true door ajar situation; 4) the doors will not lock either while driving or parked.
Door ajar warning comes on, even when door is shut. this prevents the doors from locking and they can only be locked manually, the dome lights will never go off and eventually the battery dies, and the ac will only blow cold on 1 setting. it will not blow heat. the keypad will not let the vehicle lock when the warning is on. this happens when the car is moving or stationary, and intermittently. sometimes it doesn't happen, sometimes i have to shut the door 20 times to get it to lock properly with the lights off.
With all doors closed the drivers side locking mechanism failed causing the cabin lights to come on and and the system to start ringing. when the cabin lights came on they caused temp blindness and i swerved almost hitting pedestrians. this is a safety hazard also all doors unlocked when this happened i fear spmeone with children would find this alarming due to the fact that their children could easily open the door because of the doors being unlocked. after my incident i have to close the door multiable times for it to finally work sometimes slamming it which could cause my window to shatter but its the only way it works. i feel that ford has put a sub par latch on these cars and have looked up online to see if i was the only one having this problem and found out that 1 out of five edge owners have the same problem. i tried contacting ford they just advise me to go to my local dealership which i did but i didnt have the $400 required to fix a problem that should have been fixed at the get go. i motion for a recall on this part.
I was driving on the highway and there was a slight jolt.the service engine soon light came on and i lost all acceleration. when i stepped on the gas nothing what happening. i was able to coast to the shoulder and put the vehicle in park. in park the vehicle idled very rough. i turned the vehicle off and moments i tried to turn the vehicle and it took about 5 seconds for the vehicle to turn over, but when it did turn on the warning light was gone and the gas pedal worked. when i stepped on the gas the rpm's went up. i put the car in drive and it worked normal. i've read a about 100 reviews from three different websites from people who this same thing has happened. this seems to be a inherit and common problem.
The driver door ajar sensor is malfunctioning causing multiple problems. doors don't lock automatically when in motion. it causes cabin lights to remain on once driving lights are on creating visibility issues. this also causes some of the door locking options to malfunction. when driving or stopped it generates false alarms or warnings.
Driver door latch singles adjust but closed. leaving interior light and chin to stay on. lighting at night on the can makes driving dangerous and the chin makeis very distracting
Door ajar sign will not go off after several attempts to shut the door properly. the sign stays on during a drive with several alerts to stop the car, "shift to park" and shut the door. also, when you try to lock the door manually, the system still thinks the door is open and will not lock. this is a issue of safety for the driver, and passengers (especially children) if their door cannot be properly locked. when this first started happening the sign would go off after 3-5 attempts. now after 10 days of having this issue, this sign will not go off at all. as well as the cabin lights will not go off for an extended period of time, draining the battery (even if the car is not turned on). finally, i took my vehicle to the local ford dealership and the spring is broken inside the door, the same issue with other ford brands they have already recalled. this is a major safety issue for transporting children due to the safety issue since the door will not lock. i hope this issue is taken under serious consideration since this is clearly a issue for the 2013 ford edge as many others have had this issue as well.
I was driving the vehicle in a parking structure and lost all power. i tried to restart it, no luck. vehicle turned back on after 2nd attempt to restart and seemed fine. i had the vehicle towed to downtown ford in sacramento, ca who said the issue "might have been the wiring panel" and claimed to fix it. second incident: august 2015 (mileage: 35,755) vehicle was again in a parking structure and lost all power. vehicle was brought to folsom lake ford in folsom, ca where they said they couldn't find anything wrong after they kept the vehicle for almost 2 weeks. i was told "maybe radio interference" caused the problem or maybe it was because i was in a cement parking structure. i park in this same parking structure monday - friday and this issue doesn't happen everyday so the location is not a factor. the vehicle looses all power randomly so i fear that when i am on a freeway or traveling on a curvy road and experience this catastrophic failure, it could cause a fatal crash. a case number cas7689216 was opened because we told ford that i refuse to drive the vehicle. ford's csm contacted both me and my husband and requested that we continue to drive the unsafe vehicle and have ford install a monitoring device so that they can determine the cause the next time this happens. i expressed that this is not a risk i am willing to take because our lives matter. second option is to turn over the vehicle to a ford dealership and pay for their technicians to performed "a long test drive" which would incur possibly thousands of dollars in service hours and fuel. not sure why the consumer would have to pay to fix a lemon vehicle. third option given by the csm was to have bbb buy back the vehicle which doesn't appear to be an actual option available through bbb. ford's csm told me "if we cannot recreate the problem, then there is no problem."
Door ajar and latch issue - the door ajar signal stays on when i close my door and then interior light stays on. i then am unable to lock the doors while being in the vehicle and i believe this has something to do with a faulty latch. when i move the latch with my fingers, the door ajar light will temporarily go off but sometimes will even come back on while my car is in motion. i bought the car in april and this is the first time this has occurred.
Right before our 3 year warranty expired the "drivers door ajar" warning light came on. we checked it out and other items and all seemed to be ok. one or two days later it came on again and cleared when we shut the door several times. now 8 days out of warranty it seems to come on almost all the time and won't clear. also, the dome lights stay on too. i called the dealer and said it would cost me $125 bucks to diagnose plus repair. he said i could call ford. i called ford and spoke to kevin who created case # cas7689552, but got disconnected. his statement was to bring it in to a dealer and then they would decide what they would do for me after inspection. i really thought ford would just fix this. i then called back and spoke to kendra who was nice but same thing. i asked her what she thought i could expect and she said in the best case i would be responsible for a portion of the bill. i looked online and saw one guy take the whole door off to fix and another who cleaned for a temp fix. there were a lot of other people reporting same problem. this has to be an engineering flaw and ford knows this. it is also unsafe to drive after dark with your inside dome lights on and your door chiming. please get a recall on this! i don't know what to do yet but i cannot afford a $500 repair bill on something so stupid as this. shame on ford.
Faulty "door ajar" warning do to poorly designed latch on door.
At first i noticed that even though the door behind the driver was properly shut the door ajar light was still on it was for a few days until now the interiors lights now won't go off when i leave the car and activate the alar.
When all the car doors are properly closed, the door ajar warning light comes on numerous times, and the frequency has increased, causing the doors not to lock.
The door sensor is not working correctly. the car continues to indicate "door ajar" all the time. the dome light will not turn off now when i am driving at night and the interior car lights come on at night which is draining my battery. i had to replace the battery since it had died yesterday.
The car always says the drivers side door is ajar and the shift to park message shows up on the dash along with the engine on message. none of these messages go away. its always dinging because it thinks the door is open and the automatic locks dont work. this will be the third time i take this to the garage for the same thing. i understand alot of people have the same problem with this car and ford will not issue a recall or fix the problem properly.
Drivers side door ajar light stays on all the time along with the shift to park and engine on messages. automatic locks dont work anymore. the radio sometimes blanks completelt out. taking it to the garge for the third time. other people have posted online with the same problems and ford will not issue a recall or fix the problem properly. something needs to be done now to make ford accountable for there vehicles
Driver side door will shut, but inside will show "ajar" with all dome lights on. after numerous times (20+) of opening and closing the door, it will sometimes finally close to stop showing ajar and lights will turn off. in my opinion, this is a safety hazard if driving at night as i've experienced already once with my door not willing to close properly at night, and having to drive with all dome lights on (huge issue). went to a ford dealer that says they will run a diagnostics test to see what's wrong, but there are hundreds if not thousands of complaints already on-line of people having the same issue and this still hasn't been addressed by ford for a recall. many are saying the costs are from $250-$500 for repairs to get it fixed. for a 2 year old car, this should not be happening!
Second time i will be taking my car in for service: driver side door ajar keeps coming on again. you have to slam the door hard to get it to shut off. it happens even when some one is exiting the passenger door and the driverside door ajar message will show up. engine on message also shows up. you can click the ok for both messages but the doors don't autolock when you drive. also the dome lights inside the vehicle takes a long time to shut off. the headlights will shut off when you shut off the car but the inside lights stays on. sometimes i will turn the car back on so they shut off.
The door agar sensor is not going off when i shut the door i keep having to slam the door shut multiple times for it to turn off. when i get out of my car the door does not always latch and you can tell when you lock it. the door ajar signal stays on when i shut my door. the dome light stays on when i get out of my car telling me that it is still open and when i try to lock it it makes a double beep so its like its not locking my car.
Door ajar signal stays on when door is closed, interior light stays on, inability to lock doors while in vehicle.
The driver's door ajar light on the dash instrument cluster and the interior lights stay illuminated even when the door is completely shut. the door needs to be slammed several times before the light extinguishes, but sometimes will not go out at all. this leaves driver with an insecure feeling the car door is not securely closed while driving. this problem seems to be widespread on this model vehicle from what i read on the internet.
My 2013 ford edge sport with approx 13,500 miles has been doing this now for about 2 plus months. when you shift into park and then turn car off, it will beep and say on dash, "shift to park". the car is in park. if you get out of the car, you won't be able to lock the doors. the only way to make it stop is to start car again, put in drive and then almost slam the shifter into park again. sometimes it will take 2 or 3 times before it won't do this. i have double checked to make sure there isn't anything in the way and there is not. very frustrating. of course it doesn't do this every time, so i have it on video. grrrr!!
Door ajar signal stays on when door is closed which keeps the interior light on and prohibits the doors from locking while driving. this creates safety issues through the distraction of having the interior light constantly on and the doors not locking. through online research, i've noticed that this is a very common problem for my type of vehicle and noticed that nothing has been done about it at this point.
Driver door ajar notification, dome lights and mirror lights stay on. comes on when driving. dont always know if the door is closed properly or not. took it to dealer they temporily stopped it, then it started again.
Door ajar switch is malfunctioning. the car will randomly say the drivers door is ajar. this typically happened when getting in and out of the car. today it said the door was ajar randomly while driving.
Ford edge latch door ajar, dome lights stay on night driver hazard
Door ajar alert on dash board remains lit. this causes the interior dome lights to remain on, the car to "think" the doors are not all closed, and issues with locking the car doors. very dangerous because at night the dome lights remain on. there is no way to get the lights to turn off until they automatically dim after approximately 3 minutes of active driving. dome lights will always remain on when in reverse. seems to be a guaranteed problem in all ford edge's, very frustrating. hoping this helps to get a recall as it's quite costly to get repaired.
The door ajar alarm sounds when the driver door is shut. at first i could open and close the door (sometimes numerous times) and it would go off. now it stays on all the time. the doors will not lock and the overhead light comes on sometimes. i feel this is a safety hazard that ford should recall and repair.
Door ajar indicator is highlighted. dealer tells me not covered by my extended or factory warranty. tell me door latch needs replacement. when i google known issues with ford edge guess what is the number one result? door latch. why is there not a recall on this potential safety issue?
Door ajar light always stays on and at times doors don't lock.
Drivers door alarm keeps going off after shutting door. car won't lock. have to slam door several times before it goes off.
The driver door ajar sensor is coming on even though i have had this in for service twice. ford has not issued a recall, but this problem is occurring in many vehicles. when i take it into the dealership they know the codes to try to fix the problem without looking them up in the computer. the dealer said they can only clean the sensor and not replace the latch because there is not a recall
