Problems with 2013 Ford Edge UNKNOWN OR OTHER

On average, the 2013 Ford Edge starts to “feel” problems with the UNKNOWN OR OTHER and its various aspects after 54 782 miles.

Recently reported UNKNOWN OR OTHER problems on 2013 Ford Edge

The door latch sensor is faulty resulting in the door ajar alert staying on constantly, even when all doors are closed properly. the vehicle is unable to be locked while driving and interior lights stay on for a long time after vehicle is turned off due to sensor issue, thus draining the battery.

The driver door ajar alarm started going off, and the doors unlocked while the car was moving on the interstate. it has now happened several times both while driving down the road and when getting in the vehicle. now, the dome light and outside marker lights remain on and drain the battery when the vehicle is in park because the sensor isn't reading that the doors are closed.

My driver side door ajar sensor stays on even when my door is completely shut. some times i have to open and close it several times and almost slam it shut to get the sensor to go off..

Door latch driver door need to replace $415.00. *tr

Driver's side door sensor indicates door ajar, preventing other functions of the vehicle from operating normally, such as dome light turning off while driving and after locking doors, doors will not remain locked while driving and other related functions. issues causes a drain on the battery until it eventually loses charge, leaving driver stranded. door ajar indicator remains on the entire time during operation of the vehicle.

I repeatedly get a driver door ajar message even though the door is closed. this can occur as soon as i start the engine or when the automatic locks try to engage as i start to drive. there have been times when it came on after driving for a longer period of time. the locks do not engage and this causes the interior lights to come on and a chiming sound along with a message to put the car in park. it is a major distraction to drive with the chiming which goes off briefly when braking but then right back on when i hit the gas again. besides that if i'm driving at night the interior lights make it difficult to see where i'm going. it also makes me feel very uneasy driving with children or in an unsafe neighborhood knowing that i cannot keep the doors locked. i've tried closing the door multiple times. i usually give up after 6 or 7 trys. i've had the car in for service 4 times for this problem. it seems to be fixed temporarily but after a few months it starts all over again. i can't believe that this is not a safety hazard and that there isn't a permanent fix.

Door ajar warning and door chiming. if door does not close properly lights stay on draining battery leaving owner stranded with dead battery. while driving door chiming constantly going off distracting owner while driving. problem happens while driving and while parked

The front door lock sensor doesn't work. when the door is shut the sensor doesn't sense that the door is shut, causing the notice to direct user to shift car in park to shut door, when it's already shut.

The door latch sensor doesn't seem to be working. the door is closed but is says it's not. i can not lock the doors and my overhead lights stay on and the battery will die. i've taken it into the dealership before and they say the sensors are dirty and they cleaned them, but it didn't fix the problem. it happens at all times (stationary or moving)

The "driver door ajar" light will not go off. this causes the interior lights to stay on, the warning chime to ring and the doors will not stay locked. *tr

Problem with driver door ajar sensor activating when door is closed. was repaired under warranty, then problem recurred about 10 months later after vehicle warranty lapsed. ford will not cover repairs now. automatic door locks will not function with this sensor problem. interior lights also stay on which reduces visibility.

Door ajar warning malfunction. the door ajar alarm will not clear even when the door is shut. this causes the doors to remain unlocked while the vehicle is underway, the interior lights remain illuminated(even at night) which is a huge safety concern.

Door latch does not operate correctly. "door ajar" light is always on and you cant lock the doors. "shift to park" light and bell comes on at any stop light or stop sign as well as "engine on" light and bell. just a few of the bells and lights that come on.

Door adjar light remains on after door is closed. began as intermittent problem, but now is constant. due to this issue, dome lights stay on, door adjar light and warning tones will not turn off, and doors do not lock.

The driver side door can be closed and light will come on saying door ajar even if the door is shut. this makes me stop the car and close door again.

Driver side door ajar censor is bad. ford has known of the problem for a long time. when you shut the driver side door the dash light indicates the door is still open so you close it again and again and again. ive googled it and ford knows about it but i guess they rather you spend 500 dollars to get it fixed then do a recall. it happens all the time shutting the door and reshutting the door over and over to get the light to go out and to get it to stop dinging ive read all the complaints on line and still ford does nothing why dont they have to tell you this problem before you buy the vehicle isnt that fraud. if you know of a problem you have to disclose it. you do when youre selling and buying a house!!!!

Door latch sensor won't register that the door is closed. this means the dome light stays and is unsafe for night driving.

As with many other edge owners, the door sensor continues to malfunction. numerous incidents are reported and discussed online. the "door open" indicator lights up, interior lights remain on and the alarm cannot be activated. my dealer first wanted to charge me to repair; then, repaired it at no cost, after i wrote a letter to the senior vp and service manager. this was on 1/5/15; when the tech reportedly cleaned the sensor. now, it's about seven months later and the problem has started again and like many others, i am extremely frustrated. a recall should be in order. please help me and the many other unhappy and concerned owners.

Driver door is always ajar on the dash panel. this causes the doors not to lock when inside the car and is very annoying when it dings/rings everytime you take your foot off the brake. i believe it is the sensor and i am not willing to pay $150.00 at the dealership just to find out what it is and then pay to have it fixed. the car is not that old and should be fixed for free. while researching on the internet, this is a common problem with my make and model of car. very disappointing. *js

Door ajar light stays lit on even when the door is shut causing interior light to stay on as well! causing battery to drain. first time it happened (12/8/14), went to dealership and had to pay to have it fixed, ford split the cost. second time it happened 2/28/16; if i have to pay to get it fixed again, will sell it and never buy another ford!

When i close the drivers door, the interior lights will not shut off and the warning light saying the door is open comes on. i've even had instances where the door will be closed, i start driving down the road and then the light will come on saying the door isn't latched. most of the time, it takes over 10 times of opening and closing the door before it will latch and the lights will turn off. and it is steadily getting worse. the door is clearly shut...but the sensor thinks the door is still open. *tr

Driver door ajar warning light stays on when door is shut. door locks will not lock upon movement of vehicle when light is on. when trying to lock the vehicle after turning off, interior and puddle lights stay on, draining battery. this has gotten progressively worse over the past six months.

Passenger door ajar icon is lit on the board after i close door and doors never lock, driving with door unlocked. lights stay on all the time, draining battery, so i pulled bulbs from ceiling to save battery. when i stop or park the car, locking the car with key remote sound twice and lights never shuts. i believe is hazardous to drive the car with door unlock.

I have a 2013 ford edge and the driver side door sensor will not recognize when the door is closed. i looked around on the internet and this seems to be a fairly common problem among ford edges. it is not only annoying, but if you aren't careful to check, it can drain your battery as well because the dome light will remain on as the vehicle thinks the car door is ajar. so far ford isn't replacing this under any sort of warranty.

The door ajar sensor on driver's door has failed 3 times. the first time was the day we purchased the vehicle. the dealership fixed it. the next time was in february. now it has failed again. after you enter the vehicle, and shut the door the sensor still reads as the door is open. the doors will not lock the interior lights will not go out, and who knows what else isn't activated.

2 problems. one the door says it's not closed so it won't lock. there fore it won't lock any of the doors. meaning i can't keep people from getting into my car. in my city that's a safety issue. people are always trying to jump in and take people's cars. we fixed it once under warranty but it went out again after warranty. second issue is engine light comes on. it will be the door the the door will say it's closed next the engine light will come on but nothing is wrong. we've had it fixed and looked at.

1. sensor for fuel, had to pay for a keyed gas cap 2. twice door ajar on , took to garage first time, now it is the second time that it is doing it. *tr

Door ajar light is on and door is closed.also interior lights stay on and this is very dangerous driving at night.ford will not fix it,no recalls.people had the sensor replaced on door and light came on again.wasted time and money.

Date above is first alert. happens everyday now. door latch mechanism will not engage when the door is closed, and the door ajar warning light will illuminate. doors will not lock and lights stay on. it is dangerous especially at night when the interior lights are on and you are trying to drive. they only go out when car is going forward. big safety hazard. i have told ford about it and have met many others with same problem. they want me to pay for this safety feature $350. it should be recalled so all owners can feel safe with the doors closing, locking and interior lights not illuminating while trying to drive. and the most annoying beeping to alert you that the door is ajar. it has been going on for 1.5 years. i had them lube and clean it once and it just returned. i did pay for that service. just look at the ford edge forums. it is happening to too many people.

The warning "door ajar" on driver's door keeps dinging even though door is latched. sometimes slamming the door once (or 3-8 times) will get the warning off the display panel. many times i have to listen to the warning the whole time i'm driving as it insists that the door is ajar. very annoying to the point of being a driving distraction!

Door ajar remains on when doors are closed. cannot lock doors when in vehicle. very unsafe with children. interior lights stay on and drain battery.

The door latch on my driver's side door is not latching properly. the indicator light showing the door open appears and the interior dome light remains on. it will show this warning randomly, as well as anytime the driver's door is opened and shut.

Defective door latch assembly shows door a-jar when closed. interior lights stay on and door will not lock. this is extremely dangerous at night when the interior dome lights are blinding to the driver and can not be turned off while door a-jar warning light is active. this can take place anytime the door is open. problem has existed at least since 2011 and almost all fords have this problem. *tr

We purchased a ford edge sport 2013 brand new. after driving the vehicle for about a few weeks after he purchased my partner was driving with me and my daughter and he almost passed out at the wheel. when i drive the vehicle we get sick; dizzy, headaches, nausea, congestion, etc. i was sick for years thought i was dying. my daughter even passed out in the vehicle and i had to pull over and call 911. i have picked up friends and they rode in the vehicle and experienced the same symptoms. i have all the records from ford. ford said they fixed the problems, but was never fixed. it's 2018 and the issue is still there. i have to rent cars just for the safety of my family. i'm so frustrated and lost for words with all of this. i recently saw that some of the ford explorers drivers are having the same issues we have experienced. if you go one block in my car you will wanna pass out. please contact me i have all the evidence documents. this is a serious safety issue and health hazard to us driving these vehicles.

Door latch switch will not recognize that the door is shut. i took it in for warranty and ford sprayed it with lub. and said it would fine. because of it everytime you brake there is a chime. you cannot lock the doors the pop open again. dome lights will not go off and battery in car will go dead if you leave the keys in the ignition. i am concerned that the airbags will not deploy in an accident. i think that this needs further investigation on fords behalf. it is a distraction during driving and also a safety concern the doors will not lock when i have kids in the car. i tried to have it repaired and the repair failed.

We are having a exhaust smell in the cab of our new 2013 ford edge. we first noticed it when passing another car quickly and then letting off on the gas and a few seconds later we get a exhaust smell in the cab. this happens all the time. we have also noticed it when we too a 500 mile freeway trip. i have had it into dealer four times. they have replaced the cabin air extractors twice, replaced the exhaust system, applied sealant to body seams, no luck. this makes for a unpleasant vehicle to drive and concerns of breathing fumes. i'm still waiting to be contacted about another attempt to fix. i no ford is having this problems with some of their other models to.

Federal should start investigate on the edge issues, i have researched on people who own ford edge, they have the same problem that i am having now. my 2013 edge is having a smell rubber or burning when you hard on the gas pedal and will smell burning, that will cause my wife and i have a headache really bad from this smell. i keep took my suv to the ford, but they keep telling me they don't see any problem but over 81 people who complain about that issues so i think it is time for federal to take the action! i am consider to hire the lawyer and sue ford because i believe that ford do knows but won't admit it. *tr

Headliner - the head liner in the ford edge limited has about an inch gap between the front windshield and the ceiling. the material is roughly cut and workmanship is extremely poor. i took it into the ford dealership that i use and they took pictures and ordered a new headliner, after 6 months of being backordered, the new headliner came in and was replaced and had the exact same issue. my ford service department did everything in their power to make it right and i would have to say it looks better but the material edges are still frayed all along the windshield and for the cost of the car i'd expect more. an extra 2" in material and a piece of foam rubber would allow the material to have a finished look and fill the gap at little extra cost and would make anyone noticing this much happier. i was given a loaner and noticed the same issue on the fusion titanium and when i spoke to my service rep he stated that it's pretty much like this on all cars and that they only address those that complain - he said not many people notice since the top of the windshield is black. i don't understand why it has to look so cheap and tacky. emails to ford have so far gone unanswered. *tr
