Problems with 2013 Ford Edge UNKNOWN OR OTHER

On average, the 2013 Ford Edge starts to “feel” problems with the UNKNOWN OR OTHER and its various aspects after 54 782 miles.

Recently reported UNKNOWN OR OTHER problems on 2013 Ford Edge

Passenger side door latch illuminates dome lights and gives me 'door ajar' message when door is in fact closed. this prohibits the doors from locking while driving. there is currently a recall for the driver side, however mine is passenger and ford will not replace it. this occurs daily.

Recently had my vehicle serviced for an ongoing door lock issue where ford extended warranty coverage. during the most recent service on 7 jan 2020, the service advisor also indicated and documented that the ptu (power transfer unit) is leaking from a vent and that indicates it needs to be replaced at approx $1,800.00. the vehicle as noted in their records and my odometer, had only 39,100 miles at this time. per research on the web it appears this is a well known issue with the ford edge that ford is aware of and discontinued using that particular ptu. when questioned, the ford advisor at holman ford indicated he was not aware of any such issues nor that a different drive part was now being used by ford. ford is not offering any form of compensation or credit or any recompense at this time.

Was driving at about 55 miles per hour when what sounded like a shot gun went off my panoramic sun roof exploded. all around the outside permeator middle had a hole

While driving at approximately 55-60 miles per hour the traction control and traction control off light lit up and a red brake malfunction light came on and the engine stopped while the car was in motion. we coasted to the side of the road and it took two attempts to start it again. the traction control light and traction control off light is still on. it happen three times so far and two of those times was while we were on the interstate in traffic travelling at 60-70 mph. this was not safe at all. when it shuts off there is a big thud sound and the traction control, traction control off and a red brake malfunction light comes on. after the second time there is now a rattle. i have the car at home now but it has a hesitation in it when it is first started this all has happened in the last 4 days.

Front driver door latch malfunction. doesn't latch properly and causes door ajar sensor to stay on perpetually. due to not latching properly, it poses a safety hazard to the driver. ford has had a history of such issues and has recalled some of them but not on my make and model.

I went to work this morning and parked car i had a half a tank of gas and 8 hours later when i got off of work the gas gauge said that i had a full tank of gas. when i got home and parked car i smelled a lot of fumes and gas.

Door is ajar needs to be fixed again. the door latch assembly is an issue. i have had it replaced at 24k miles and now out of warranty it needs to be replaced again. there need to be a recall on these door switches. one has to open and close the door several times for the warning to go away.

Door ajar problem

Door ajar light and warning alarm on when all doors are closed car has approx. 38,000 miles and is in excellent condition. ford dealer wants $743 dollars to fix!. should be a recall.

Door ajar warning won't go off when car is running which will not lock doors

While driving my car the ac shut off the radio shut off and the radio display and the lights on the dashboard and the vehicle slow down at flickered off for a moment then came back on and i stopped and turned the car off. i then started it with no issues so i kept driving within less than half a mile it did it a second time and i took my car home and let it sit. i have taken it to a ford dealership and they can not find the problem. this is the second time its happened to me since buying it used in august 2018

The drivers door latch latches but the light comes on and says the door is ajar....making me leary if the door will open while driving.....happens while the vehicle is parked and driving

Brake booster. i have new brakes on my car but still feel like i can't stop right away like i should be able to. my husband has a ford edge 2019 for work. his car doesn't seem to have this problem. either does my friend who has a ford edge 2016. i can be in a parking lot and backup and feel like i'm going to hit onto the car behind me cause i don't stop right away.

Driver side door ajar warning when door is not ajar. problem started approx mid may 2019, mileage under 60,000 miles.

The brakes started to become harder to apply. an air hissing sound came from the brake pedal. the car would intermittently be impossible to brake, but all other brake parts are intact (according to mechanic). the vehicle is in motion when the braking problem was noticed. the air hissing sound can be heard when in park and the brakes are applied as well. there is an acknowledged problem with this part in a posted extended warranty, but the terms of that do not apply to my specific vehicle. i am showing the exact same symptoms and i was almost in 2 different wrecks when my car wouldn't stop - and it will cost $1000 to fix! it seems if the problem is acknowledged in others of the same vehicle, it should be addressed in all of the same. this is a huge safety hazard.

Driving down the 78 freeway in my 2013 ford edge sport when my glass panoramic rooftop violently exploded sounding like a gun going off in my car. luckily when i swerved in fright no one was next to me so no one got hurt including me but it was very scary.this happened on march 21 2019. it is a very expensive fix for something that should not happen and not under warranty. i took it to the dealership the same day and they wanted me to go through insurance to have fix. i am scared it will happen again.

The driver door shows door is ajar even though door is closed causing doors not to lock and keeps interior lights on when car is driving mode which is a hazard at night and drains battery when car is off.

When shifting in park the car doesn't recognize that it's in park in order to shut the car off . after trying to turn car off the shift to park light stays on. i have to wiggle the gearshift to let it recognize it in park or restart the car and move gearshift back in to park. wiggle the gear shift to let it recognize it's in park or restart the car and move gearshift back into park.

Door latch sensors, door ajar when door is closed and fully latched. door will not lock when you start driving and when you do start driving while the door ajar is on it keeps telling you to shift into park. you also can't lock the car with keyless entry because it says door ajar.

There is a leak/crack in the fuel neck. every time i refuel the vehicle, it will not start right away. after a minute it will start. the dealer recommended i spend $600 to replace it. also, driver window is scraping when it goes up and outside decorative panel paint is fading.

Driver door stays with the sign of door ajar. it has happened on all 5 edges of myself and 4 family members. check on internet at seems to be a common occurrence in not only ford edge, but on explorer and expedition also. believe to be a factory defect but nobody does anything which i believe to be an nhtsa issue..

Air conditioning and heating system is blowing out cool air when the heat is on.

Right hand half shaft.. original safety recall 14s10 recently my mechanic found the right axleshaft leaking and copied the above referenced recall notice as it matches my make model and year as well as my vin number. when i contact ford to find out how to get this looked at they inform me i d9nt qualify for the recall because it's not attached to my vin. the recall covers the make model and year of my vehicle so i have a difficult time believing that it's not possible for mine to have the same issue. my mechanic doesn't do recall work for ford and discourages people to pay and hope to be reimbursed.

I opened the sunroof of the car maybe 10 times ever since i purchased the car. the car is only five years old. i pushed the button to close the sunroof and i heard a pop. the sun roof will no longer close. the part that pulls the glass closed and open snapped. i was in a parking lot about to get out and go to lunch when this happened. i took the car to two places for repair estimates. one was my local ford dealer and the other a collision repair place. both places quoted $8000 to repair my sunroof. the car is only 5 years old and again i have only opened the sunroof maybe ten times ever. now it will not close and $8000 is just crippling amount of money to repair a sunroof. i have looked online and see that many people have had this issue with ford sunroofs and this is simply just horrible. ford knows that this is an issue. the replacement part is over $6500 plus about 11 hours labor. ford needs to mitigate this issue. it is an out rage that anyone should have to pay that kind of money on a five year old car because a piece of factory installed equipment breaks with minimal usage.

Driver door ajar sensor is faulty. warning shows driver door is open when it is closed. warning of fuel fill area. door ajar warning occurs when starting vehicle and when vehicle is in motion.

On 6 occasions now my 2013 ford edge while driving has thrown up a check engine sign and the car will just pretty much die while in heavy traffic to the point that i am barely moving. then second time it happened i took it to ford they said it was the battery so i bought a new battery and still since then it continues to do it all of these way before my warranty was up but ford could never find anything wrong with it on the other occurrences. on 8/18/2018 the car threw up a wrench sign again while driving and the car pretty much shut down i barely made it off the side of the road before being hit by another car. all occurrences have been on the interstate had it not been for luck i don't know how i kept from being hit due to the car pretty much would only roll because pressing on the gas did not good. once to safety and pulled over to restart the car it would start and be okay then several weeks sometimes months it would do it again. last occurrence was 8.18/2019

The door ajar light is staying on,as well as the map lights. runs the battery down. the map lights come on at will including during the night. wife has gotten in the edge and the door ajar light will come on and it starts beeping. ford has been aware of this door switch since 2007 and refuses to recall all the cars and trucks that have this switch. i have gone on line and there are millions of complaints . we are if fear of this casing a fire or worse yet for some reason not allowing the air bag to deploy in a crash. my wife is scared to drive this suv and ford refuses to acknowledge there is a problem and a recall is needed.

When the vehicle is placed into park and the motor is turned off a warning pops up on the screen. the warning says "shift into park".

With the vehicle in park, and ready to start driving, or ready to exit the car, the "door ajar" comes on. if the vehicle is to be parked, the dome lights do not go out. if the vehicle is to be driven, the door ajar message still displays, a put in park message displaces and a warning noise is given. this started intermittently about two weeks ago and reclosing the door would correct the problem. now it is a big problem every time the driver's side door is used. i see from on line this is a chronic problem with this make and model. this is a cost prohibitive repair when you need 4 new tires

As i was driving to work, my vehicle stalled on the highway. without any check engine light or sounds the gas pedal didn't have anything to it, it just went all the way down and then died. the engine would turn, but it's as if gas wasn't getting to the engine and it wouldn't start. i tried a couple times to start it, no success. still no warning lights. as the tow company was on the way, about 20 minutes later, i tried again and it started. as if nothing was wrong. no vehicles were behind me to hit me when it died and i was able to steer to the shoulder. i went to ford service later on and i was told that since none of the warning lights came on there more than likely is not a code to diagnose the problem, but it sounds like the fuel pump. i now drive the vehicle hoping it doesn't happen again. there is a recall on 2013 ford edge fuel system, but mine is not one to be recalled.

Takata recall even though vehicle is in park warning message saying shift to park

Takata recall- i have contacted the local dealership and requested info. no one has gotten back to me and im still driving my car not knowing if something is going to happen. please let me know if my vehicle is affected by the recall

I placed car in park on flat ground, took foot off brake, and car started rolling. this happened a few times within a week but hasn't happened since then. i had to use emergency brake when it did happen to prevent car from moving while parked.

Driver side "door ajar" light remains on even when door is known to be securely shut. this signal enables/disables functions in the car. safety is compromised when an erroneous signal is being sent, especially if children are present.

As i was driving down the street on a normal ride, all of a sudden i heard a loud explosion and then glass shattering. my sunroof/moonroof had shattered. all four corners are busted out. this was out of the blue, no other issues had occur.

While driving down the road the vehicle will exhibit a full loss of power. after pulling to the side of the road and turning the vehicle off and trying to restart it will experience a long and hard start. the vehicle will do this weather you are driving 5mph or 70 mph. this is very dangerous and has almost caused me to be in several accidents with my 3 children in the car.

My car keeps saying passenger door is open. but it is not open.i am afraid this will drain my battery so i disconnect my battery when at work and at home.

The " door ajar " switch in the drivers side door is malfunctioning. i was told that this is a problem in a lot of ford edges. it is not easy to replace as the door has to be completely taken apart. cost estimate is $400. to replace a $80 part. bad design. ford shoul do something about this.

The driver's side door ajar switch on my 2013 ford edge is malfunctioning. the sensor believes the door is open even when it closed, and it does not allow the doors to be locked while the vehicle is in motion. i have children and this is obviously a safety concern. the malfunctioning sensor also keeps the dome lights on constantly draining the battery and will likely leave us stranded with a dead battery. multiple safety concerns here.

On drivers front door, door ajar warning lamp intermittently comes on, even after repeatedly opening/closing door, & interior lamp stays on because of this. occurs upon entering car from parked position. was repaired under warranty once before about 1 1/2 years ago.

Drivers door ajar left rear door ajar light on dash and interior lights on but doors are closed

My vehicle ford egge 2013 while i am driving shuts down at any milleage

While it starts intermittently, the 'door ajar' light is coming on ' and staying on even when the door is certainly closed. over time there is no amount of door slamming that can get that warning light to shut off. it's most likely an electrical issue related to the switch inside the latch mechanism. while the door will mechanically latch, issues with the switch make the door appear to be open to the car's electronic control unit (ecu). it doesn't matter if the vehicle is in park, drive, neutral, reverse. the light still remains on when attempting to close the door. this has been happening for several months.

When closing the driver door it says driver door ajar.then when locking the doors it will not lock, because the door ajar light is on.

Although my drivers side doors is closed, the door ajar light indicator remains on. also, when i slow down or stop a warning beep and indicator comes on telling me to shift to park. i assume this is part of the same problem. not only is this annoying but it causes my inside lights to remain on, which causes the battery to run down. in addition it is a hazard as i cannot lock my doors. this could allow someone to enter my vehicle to do harm. it also, allows my granddaughter to open the door while the vehicle is in motion. i know that that have been other complaints and i feel you should do your duty and place a recall on this hazard.

Driver side door gives warning of door ajar when door is cocompletely shut, causing the safety of my 5 year old and i to be compromised by the vehicles inability to lock the doors while in motion as well as leaving the interior lights on which impairs evening visability. lastly it continues to provide a warning alarm which impairs drivers concentration and ability to maintain focus and safety on the road and on other drivers as well as driving safety procedures. problem.is intermittent amd will happen when parked or randomly while driving. problem persists even after slamming door, which can cause further damage to the proper functionality and safety of the vehicle that is controlled through the doors control pannel. if issue persists i plan on filing with the bbb in regards to this issue and the negligence of ford in this hazardous compromise on safety for those in the vehicle, especially in cases including youth and children.

The door is ajar light on the control panel stays on when the door is actually closed. it keeps the interior lights on at night and makes it difficult to drive. i have researched this and there are a lot of complaints and request for a recall due to the safety of the passengers.

The driver's side door will close, but thinks it is not closed - so the interior and exterior lights stay on and doors will not lock. driving around in memphis, tn with your doors unlocked is a huge safety hazard - am in grave danger of being carjacked at a stop light. it will not close to lock it at work or in my driveway - and runs down the battery. opening and closing it sometimes 50 times (usually without success) is annoying and painful. i know my neighbors hate me making so much noise trying to close my door (that seems to really be closed, but some sensor doesn't think so). there are tons of comments across the internet with this problem. why has it not been recalled? and if it really isn't closing, then we have a whole new issue!

Door latch actuator not working. shows door ajar, doors will not lock and interior lights stay on. defective door latch

Car shaking and no accelerating when gas pedal engaged. unable to move forward. very dangerous on the road so i pulled off. problem repeated three times with 24 hours. ford repair said it has a bad electronic throttle body.
