Third post of same complaint. coming from turns or when shifting in low speed, the vehicle randomly stalls upon acceleration then slams into gear, causing the entire vehicle to jolt. have taken van to original purchasing dealership multiple times (10+) in the past year and a half, and have been told that they cannot find a problem. this category has the most complaints on the nhtsa website all of very similar issue ' something must be done from chrysler.

Tl* the contact owns a 2017 chrysler pacifica. while driving approximately 50 mph, the vehicle suddenly shut off. after coasting to a stop, the vehicle restarted and operated normally. the vehicle was taken to sarasota sunshine chrysler(7745 s. tamiami trail, sarasota, fl) who was unable to determine the cause of the failure. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was not notified. the failure mileage was 25,000.

Vehicle shut off on my 7 times already 2 on highway and 5 on streets. 2 on highway was driving around 65 mph when dash went off all lights went off no power steering or hazard light function. had to pull over to median at a complete stop. the others were variant from coming to a stop all the lights shut off the gauge needles went crazy. and the others were driving at lower speeds. the worse is trying to muscle onto a parking lot or median with no power steering or lights

On multiple ocasions, the engine shutoff feature shut off just as i was trying to turn left on a busy street. this caused the vehicle to pull about ten feet into traffic and then it stalles for an unsafely long delay before the vehicle would get out of traffic. it is a problem when is decides to shut the engine off just as i decide to turn left. it causes the vehicle to stall and then lurch as it tried to come back on. i usually remember to shut this feature off but it always comes back on every time you restart the vehicle. ken garf chystler dealership was unable to have this feature turned off by default. this is a dangerous engine shutoff feature intended to save some fuel. i don't care how much fuel it saves if it causes an accident! the ai for this needs refinement and it needs to be disabled when left turn signal is engaged so this doesn't happen.

The engine stalled while driving down the road at 10mph. just out of blue the engine stopped and i get a move shifter to park and restart engine message on the screen. (that itself is dangerous to move the shifter to park in a moving car). this happened a few months ago at a red light and i had reported it. clearly chrysler hasn't fixed this issue and it's causing for very dangerous driving conditions. these people only started after the recall from chrysler for a software update to fix this issue.

Tl* the contact owns a 2017 chrysler pacifica. on several occasions, while driving 55-65 mph, the vehicle jerked and vibrated abnormally. the vehicle was taken to white plains chrysler jeep dodge (located at 70 westchester ave, white plains, ny 10601, (914) 618-4521) to be diagnosed, but the mechanic was unable to duplicate the failure or retrieve a fault code. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 16,000.

Driving at 70 mph, my pacifica just shut off. had no control, had nothing. managed to pull over to the side of the road. when called into the beaver county chrysler dealership i was told, "we just sell them, we don't make them." his vehicle has been one issue after another. the sliding doors not closing, the dvd player not working, the radio not working, the sliding door on driver's side still not working and they had to completely replace the gas tank because i couldn't even put gas in the tank it would shut off and wouldn't let gas get into the tank. now this. we were scared for our lives and then told, "we just sell them we don't build them." this is not a safe vehicle. ...*bf *tr *tt consumer stated problem was solved. updated 12/19/18*jb

I had my 2017 pacifica fixed as part of the recall for the engine stalling issue a few months ago (18v049000). it stalled at an intersection, actually almost twice. the first time, it shuddered and *almost* stalled at an intersection when i accelerated on a green light, but then at the last second it picked up and started moving. a few intersections later, this time on a slight slope, the light turns green, i step on the accelerator, it shudders and stalls. i get the "move shifter to park" and have to restart the car. after restarting it's been working fine since. obviously they haven't fixed the engine stalling issue.

The vehicle was in motion on a city street just driving straight. the engine shut off while driving. the display indicated to put the car in park to start the vehicle. the power steering shuts off. i was not going fast at the time and was able to stop, put it in park, press the brake, start the vehicle, and put it into drive. however, i was in traffic and almost was rear ended by another vehicle who was fortunately able to stop in time. this issue affects the brakes, engine, steering, power train and all around safety. i was lucky that i was driving and that my kids were not in the car. i was going to pick them up.

Tl* the contact owns a 2017 chrysler pacifica. while driving 30 mph, the vehicle stalled and the "shift to park check engine" warning indicator illuminated. the contact also mentioned that the vehicle lost complete power and the clock needed to be reset. the contact also mentioned that the failure recurred while at a stop light. the vehicle was able to restart. the vehicle was taken to hall chrysler dodge jeep ram chesapeake (3353 western branch blvd, chesapeake, va 23321, (855) 544-8545) where the contact was informed that the system needed to be updated. the vehicle was repaired, but the failure recurred. the vehicle was taken to a local auto shop where the contact was informed that the wiring harness was burnt, but it was not determined if that caused the failure. the vehicle was repaired again. the manufacturer was not notified of the failure. the failure mileage was approximately 44,000. *tt updated 11/29/18* jb

In sept. 2018 i took my pacifica in for cruise control recall and check engine light. recall and check engine light repair completed. next day check engine light came on again and has been on and off for the past few weeks. it seems to stay on about 4 days and then off for a day or two. cruise control (in motion) goes out sporadically. power window- drivers window- auto up does not work. window(parked and moving) goes up half way, stops and goes back down. transmission-not consistent issue but lurching @ 10-15mph also at 30mph

Wife and children in the van in august 2017 driving at around 55mph on highway. message center told her to place vehicle in park before starting. vehicle lost all power while in motion and she coasted to side of road. would not start, towed to dealer dealer drove for 10 days before faulted on them. chrysler repaired a "faulty egr." august 2018, message told her that auto on/off needed service. vehicle lost all power at 30mph on residential street. took to dealer, they replace a battery for auto off/on. september 2018, while pulling into garage van put up message telling her to place vehicle in park before starting. all power lost and vehicle died. van has been at dealer for 29 days. currently has data recorder installed, and we are in contact with chrysler enhanced customer service to figure out the problem *dt updated 11/29/18*jb

Vehicle was stationary and a stop sign in auto start/stop mode. when brake was released the radio flashed, the passenger window rolled down and the auto start stop flashed and went into error. panel says auto start stop not active needs servicing the auto start stop light is illuminated yellow with an exclamation point.

I was stopped at a stop sign, and when i tried accelerating the vehicle wouldn't move, it has just shut off, when i tried turning it back on, after putting it in park it wouldn't turn on. luckily someone helped me push it out the way, and after waiting 10 minutes, the vehicle just started back up normally.

We have a 2017 chrysler pacifica tourling l-plus that had a recent software update, all recalls have been completed. the van fully stalled while accelerated in the highway between 30-40 miles per hour, for about 5 seconds before re-engaging into gear. it did not feel like it was in between gears when it stalled- as far as we could tell, the engine still had power but temporarily stopped accelerating.

Today i was driving as usual and of a sudden the car started beeping. at the same time i noticed i lost control of my car and the screen on the dashboard shows shift to p to start. i figured my car shut off even though the transmission knob was on d position. this is very terrifying and i am very afraid of seeing this again especially on freeway. i googled afterward and have seen other people reporting the same issue before (https://www.pacificaforums.com/forum/474-chrysler-pacifica-minivan-issues-problems/2937-vehicle-shut-off-while-driving-45.html). i have routine maintenance of my car and also followed every recall requested by the manufacturer. i am hoping to solving this problem and never see this again. thank you for your attention.

The 2017 chrysler pacifica touring plus with all the latest known software recalls up to date as of 8/22/2018 experienced a full stall while under wide open throttle and attempting to enter a highway on ramp. the stall seemed like a transmission lag, shifting delay or lack of response. the engine from 0-20 mph had plenty of power (rpm's); then when switching gears it seems the power was cut for a full 3-5 seconds while the transmission made a shift and only after letting off the accelerator (even though there were 0 rpms) did it finally kick into motion again and pull out of the stall. the systems auto stop was disabled via the override button on the dashboard when this occurred and the gas tank was 40% full.

Tl* the contact owns a 2017 chrysler pacifica. while driving at unknown speeds, the vehicle stalled without warning. the message "place car into park" was displayed. the vehicle was restarted and operated normally. the contact called a local dealer (route 46 chrysler jeep dodge, 1655 route 46, little falls, nj, (888) 296-4062) and scheduled a service appointment. the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. the manufacturer was notified and provided case number: 34962584, but no further assistance was provided. the failure mileage was 17,900.

Engine stalling when idle or during take off but quickly restarts when putting it in park. at times it goes directly to park on its own after shutting down. recently the vehicle lost power while driving around 50 mph. i coasted to the stop light put it in park and it restarted. loosing power completely after stalling but after a few minutes of waiting it restarts. shift service warning appears but resets before taking it to dealer. often shift indicator lights don't work but will after the car restarts hours later. windows go down on their own while driving.

I was driving down the interstate at 70mph and all of a sudden the van told me to put it in park and restart the vehicle. as i'm sitting in the middle of the interstate in rush hour traffic and cars flying past me i discover i'm locked out of my own engine. the brakes were locked, i couldn't restart the vehicle, i tried opening my door, after the van came to a stop, to get the van to reset but nothing worked. finally the van allowed me to start the vehicle back up after several minutes of being stranded in the middle of the interstate. i had lost power steering and wasn't able to pull over alongside the shoulder nor could i brake or accelerate! i had to wait for the car to come to a stop and then had to troubleshoot why my engine locked me out in the middle of a 4 lane highway.

The vehicle shut off as if the "key" had been turned off in the middle of traffic while moving, on the highway accompanied by the message "shift to park" my wife shifted to park then restarted it, the vehicle continued to repeat this multiple times until she was able to make it to an exit ramp and park in a safe area. this is the second time this has happened in the span of about 8 months. it has been to 2 dealers, both times we where told that no codes where stored internally therefor they didnt know what to repair. our van has been modified for a wheelchair for our disabled teenager because of this we have no choice but to keep driving it in this condition. not to mention how undependable it feels.

The vehicle was in motion at ~30 mph when it stalled in the middle of the road. it took several minutes before it would restart by pushing the ignition button. the vehicle had the 2018 stall recall software update installed months before this occurred. the vehicle was towed to a dealer, but the dealer could not replicate the problem, so they told me to come pick up the vehicle.

My entire car vibrates like shaking and auto shutoff sign that we use while red light comes ups / engine light comes ups. i have to park my car on the side turn off for 2 minutes and turn on back to get back to normal. i believe if i don't do that i might hit with the other car as car vibrates and not controllable. it happened almost 10 times & dealer just ignores as i am making this up.

I was driving the car on a 5 lane highway going approx 50 mph when the car shut off. the gas pedal stopped working and the car began to decelerate. on the console it told me to then put the car in p to start the car. i was able to pull over and restart the car however it happened again within 10 minutes of driving. it has proceeded to happen 10-20 times and cars is now in the shop. this is a very dangerous thing to have happen when you are driving.

Vehicle stalls while driving. braking and vehicle keeps going and or accelerating and vehicle does not even move. hard shifting when hot and cold. also vehicle has had multiple shifter issues and will not start this has happened on city streets and x on the highway.

While operating the vehicle at a low speed (10-15 mph) and making a left hand turn the vehicle lost power, including steering, and acceleration. the radio and accessories were still working. all the gear shift lights were flashing and a beeping noise occurred. on the dash a display said "change gears to start". i tried neutral and other gears, before going back to drive and it didn't do anything. i placed the car in park and it got stuck in park. i couldn't change the gear after that. i then pressed the on/off start button and it restarted and powered up the engine and i was able to drive the car home. i immediately called the dealership and left a voicemail. the first appointment available was june 27th, 2018 at 0830. the customer service rep said there was no log/warning or notification related to this issue. i contacted chrysler corp customer care at 1101 on june 27th, 2018 to notify them of the issue and that the dealership couldn't find anything wrong. chrysler corp customer care representative advised me to file a complaint with nhtsa and to ensure dealership files a star case. i then re-contacted the dealership at 1112 on june 27th, 2018 and advised them we wanted to open a star case. the car goes back to the dealership on tuesday july 3rd, and they will keep it and try and re-simulate the issue while we have a loner car.

I owned chrysler pacifica van 2017 for about a year now, it is keeps stalling while driving, so far it had happened to me 6 times, it is very scary, i don't feel safe. imagine you are crossing the intersection and your car stalls in the middle of two way traffic! i took it to the local dealer where i bought it and they haven't been able to figure it out. all recalls were done. they know i keep having this issue with my van because every visit for service i keep telling them about it and i get ignored, they don't even make any notes in my file and every time i talk about it with the service man he pretends like it is the first time he hears about it. i do not know what else to do and i do know i'm not the only one who's van stalls, it is a safety issue that needs to be resolved by chrysler.

I was on my way to my son's doctor appointment, pulled into the hospital/clinic parking lot, parked my vehicle and turned it off. i heard a pop after i turned it off and when i stepped outside, i smelled smoke. dark smoke was coming up both sides of the hood so i got my son out of his car seat, ran away from the vehicle and called 911. in a matter of minutes the front of the vehicle was in flames. the fire department was quick on the scene and put out the fire, but it was gas so it took some time to put out. vehicle is total loss. i contacted chrysler and they have not called me. an inspector they hired has and is looking at the vehicle this week.

Auto ignition during stops is not engaging when it' s supposed to, leading to a delay in the acceleration from stop. this is a very dangerous issue as the vehicle has a tendancy to roll when the vehicle's automatic shut off system is enabled.

Driving, pulling out of driveway and vehicle shut off, would not shift or restart

My pacifica dies while i am driving or sitting at a stop light. i have to restart it.

My 2017 chrysler pacifica has over 22,000 miles on it. about a month ago, i started experiencing hard shifts, jerks, mini-stalls when accelerating. it has happened while coasting in traffic, accelerating from red lights, stop signs, and merging into traffic! i believe its 2-3 gear shift. i feel the rpms drop down to nothing and spike. it feels like being hit from behind and getting whiplash. its very powerful and frightening. having two kids in carseats when his happens is scary! the dealership hasn't been able to reproduce to problem (even on a drive along) and they say they can't do anything about it until a check engine lights comes on. warranty is up in 14,000 miles - this needs to be fixed by then. latest occurrence was this morning accelerating from a stop.

Tl* the contact owns a 2017 chrysler pacifica. on several occasions, while driving various speeds, the vehicle experienced hard shifting from first to second gear. additionally, on several occasions, the vehicle stalled while being driven various speeds. the contact was able to restart the vehicle after several attempts. the vehicle was taken to vance chrysler dodge jeep ram (3606 ok-10, miami, ok 74354, (918) 542-4424) to be diagnosed, but the mechanic was unable to duplicate the failure. the vehicle was not repaired. the vehicle was not included in nhtsa campaign number: 18v049000 (electrical system, engine and engine cooling). the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 43,000.

At a stop light in the turn lane i lifted my foot off the brake to drive as the light turned green. i hit the gas and nothing happened. i looked and the screen said to put the car in park. i put the car in park and then the screen said that i needed to stop/start restart the car. i turned the car off and tried turning it back on. there was a clicking noise, the engine would not start but everything else powered back on. i did this a couple of times and every time i tried starting the car there was just clicking and it would not start. i turned the car off again, opened the car door so that everything would power off. i then closed the door and it started back up.

Tl* the contact owns a 2017 chrysler pacifica. while driving at an unknown speed, the vehicle stalled. the contact had to shift into park and press the ignition start button back on and off. the contact was able to drive the vehicle, but the same failure recurred multiple times. the vehicle was taken to fowler dodge (55 w interstate 240 service rd, oklahoma city, ok 73139), but was not diagnosed or repaired. the manufacturer was not contacted. the failure mileage was 5,500.

In january 2018, took the van in because of jerking motion shifting out of gears. would go from first gear, skip second gear and then jerk hard into third gear, almost feeling like the van was going to stall. chrysler dealership stated that chrysler doesn't know how to fix the problem but doing an engine stall reset with the computer system in the car may fix it. that worked for about 2 weeks and the jerking motion started to happen again. most times it was at speeds between 15-20 mph, but then it started to happen at speeds like at 40mph. then yesterday, while driving on the highway, there was stop and go traffic, and as i was trying to accelerate, the car jerked so hard twice, i thought i was rear ended. the check engine light came on, and the car began to accelerate on its own. i tried to brake and at first was unable to. finally the car slowed down, but the rpm's were reving at 4 while i was only going 25mph and then stalled. the car would not shift out of first gear, and would not go any faster than 25mph. i was able to get off the highway before being involved in a crash as it was rush hour traffic on the one of the most busiest highways in miami. so now my car is at the dealer and they are telling me that they are going to try to replace the valve body of the transmission, and if that still gives them problems, they will have to replace the whole transmission. this van is a year old!!! the service advisor said that they are just doing what chrylser is telling them to do to try and fix this problem. very sad chrysler. this is a huge safety issue and telling consumers that they don't know how to fix a problem that could be life threatening or they are going to "try" to fix it is unacceptable. many of us that own vans have small children that are in them everyday and this is what we have to deal with. at this point, i want new manufacturer van.

While idling at a light and pressing pedal to go. my 2017 chrysler pacifica failed. lights started. flashing in dust cycling through check abs, check tire pressure, etc... car was in drive and was rolling backwards with breaks and steering not working. this resulted in an accident rolling into the vechical behind us. the nice individual the we crashed into was able to catch the failure on his dash cam. we have brought in the van on other occasions to have it looked at for transmission wanting to launch forward when going from idle. they still can not figure it out and told use no record in service reports with other having any problems. after a 10 second search we found others have had similar problems with same make and model. these. can be found on consumers reports. with. out a guarantee the breaks and steering will not go out again i do not want the car back. i. just. want my money back. the sell this thing as a safe family vehicle, but loosing breaks and steering is not what i want my family in. they still can not figure out way it happens.

Engine shuts off and prompts to put car into park to restart while driving

Engine stalled when attempting to accelerate from a complete stop. lost all control of electrical, and the car would not shift into park or neutral. windows would not close or open. navigation screen was still on. no other dash warning lights were illuminated. attempted to turn the car off and on, but nothing happened. after 5 minutes of attempting to restart the car, it restarted. i was able to drive the car to a safe location and have it towed.

I have experienced sporadic incidents with my 2017 chrysler pacifica where when braking to a stop, the engine continues to run at 1500 or so rpm instead of idling down. it requires extremely heavy brake pressure and putting my left foot on the brake so that i can tap the accelerator with my right foot. that will disengege the transmission and cause the engine to idle down. during these incidents the automatic engine shut-off when the care is braked has not been disengaged the dealer has not been able to locate any codes or dupicate the problem. in summary, it is an accident waiting to happen.

Our 2017 pacifica was repaired in the fall of 2017 under recall #t23 (egr valve function defect). now, our vehicle is experiencing the stalling problems described in the more recent u01 recall. the chrysler dealership refuses to apply the u01 fix to our car, stating that the earlier recall fix should have fixed the problem. at this time, the vehicle experiences intermittent stalls at low speed and at idle, and has slammed to an immediate stop if the issue occurs when moving. it is unsafe to drive.

Vehicle lost power and shut off while it was moving. it asked to be put in park and restarte.

Since 11/2017, have had ongoing issue with sensation of a very hard shift occurring when accelerating especially if i have been driving in heavy traffic for some time. this has been on both highways and on local streets. sensation is so hard, it feels like vehicle has been rear ended. this has occurred both before and after recall work was done. have requested evaluation twice at dealer and each time nothing able to be found as cause. the event does not occur all of the time so service techs most likely did not experience it. starting the week of 4/30, van has started to be slow in acceleration when pulling away from red lights, intersections and merging onto highways. feel van is becoming increasingly unsafe to drive. also had check engine light come on and found to be fuel pressure sensor. when first replaced at dealer, fuel pressure sensor worked for a few days and then van would not start and approx. 1/4 tank of gas lost on parking lot surface. required towing and when checked o-ring had crimped and burst on new sensor. *tt *tr

We have had a few continuing problems since the original purchase of a 2017 chrysler pacifica braunability van. the car has had electrical issues and on 3 or 4 occasions has suddenly shut off or stopped working. one time may have been related to a car accident my husband was in. he collided with another car in 2018, immediately after the accident the car was not running, but he hadn't turned it off. it started back up again but this happened 2 or 3 times this year with different electrical features not working making the car inoperable at times. in addition, the air conditioning system has continuously been dysfunctional. we have had it to the dealership a few times for this problem. most recently it was fixed a couple months ago and it is again not working.

Automatic start and stop is very concerning, after a year of driving 2017 pacifica, the automatic start is slowing in response, causing significant concerns for roll back, torque twist, air conditioning, and overall safety. this is a major issue, that needs to be reviewed.

Tl* the contact owns a 2017 chrysler pacifica. while making a turn at 35 mph, the vehicle shut off. the contact coasted the vehicle into a parking lot where it would not restart. after making arrangements to have the vehicle towed, the contact was able to restart the engine. a year later, while on a trip, the failure recurred. the vehicle was towed to moberly motor company (1520 n morley st, moberly, mo 65270, (660) 263-6000) where the failure was able to be duplicated. the contact called the manufacturer and was waiting to hear back regarding a possible diagnosis of the failure. the vehicle was not repaired. the failure mileage was 19,500. *bf the consumer stated there was a 2nd failure on 3/28/2019 and vehicle could not be repaired until the problem was duplicated. the dealer still has possession of the vehicle. *tr

Bought new, currently has approx. 1200 miles on it. van has stalled while driving multiple times while showing error messages including "stop/start unavailable, service stop/start system", the letter a! with an arrow around it. when van stalls the gear knob flashes in "d" or drive mode. taken to service for first incident week of 4/16, dealership replaced the ecm. picked up vehicle on 4/18 and stalled again on 4/22 and 4/23 while showing the exact same error messages. towed to dealer on 4/24 and they kept it until 4/30 with no fix as they said they could not replicate the errors or stalling. picked up the van on 4/30 and the vehicle stalled again and exhibited the same error codes while not even a quarter mile from leaving the dealership. i pulled over, put the van in park, started the van again and took it back to the dealer and the onsite manager took a picture of the error code a! and it is still in service for the 3rd time. i have pictures and videos to support my issues. this vehicle absolutely stalls while driving. i have notified chrysler corp directly and they are monitoring the service done at the dealership.
