We have classified the 178 complaints from 2017 Chrysler Pacifica about ELECTRICAL SYSTEM into the following categories.
Panel lights doesn't turnes off after the car is turned off bluetooth doesn't work at all (phone calls does not work any more) radio is dead parking rearview camera, the scale lines disappeared car lock does not work all the times
The drivers side automatic sliding door will pop back open once it closes. at approximately 30-40 mph the transmission will slip and it is sounds like a popping noise.
There is an ongoing issue with the driver side sliding door. it continues to open itself back up after closing. it will be almost closed all the way and then will beep three times and open back up.. there is nothing in the door jam or way of it closing. we have wiped cleaned and vacuumed it, and dealer found no issue. it happens daily. also at times the sensor does not detect an entire body of my child when closing and will close on the child if they don't move in time.
This is the second complaint i have filed in 24 hours. i believe i am having a known problem/recall in my vehicle: engine stall due to software issue an engine stall can increase the risk of a crash. nhtsa campaign number: 18v049000 i drove about 3 miles. parked my vehicle and pushed the button to open the sliding back door. when i pushed the button the entire vehicle turned off including the engine and all the lights. nothing on the dash remained lit. i tried to restart it and nothing happened. no sounds, click or lights appeared. i opened my door and waited about a minute then the interior lights turned on. the sliding back door had to be manually pulled shut at this point. i tried to start the vehicle again and nothing happened. i tried again and it hesitated, then started. i was able to drive about 10 miles to work after that.
I believe my vehicle is have the issue of a known recall on this type of vehicle: engine stall or loss of power steering assist a loss of power steering assist or a stall can increase the risk of crash. i was driving and suddenly the power steering went out and the vehicle came to a stop. i was instructed on the screen to put the vehicle in park. once i put it in park the vehicle shut off. i tried restarting it. the brake was stiff and would not push in. when i pushed the button it went to "acc" then when i pushed it again it went to "run" but the vehicle was not on and i could not change the shifter out of the park position. this was very dangerous and happened while vehicles were driving behind me causing people to suddenly come to a stop.
While vehicle is both stationary and moving the shift selector or dial turns off. you cannot see what gear you are in when this happens. the vehicle has turned off while in motion! the tie rods on this vehicle broke at less than 20k miles. the vehicle has had multiple recalls which have been fixed but continues to have intermittent electrical issues. all of these have been reported to chrysler.
While driving, vehicle completely lost power/stalled. power steering lost, all acceleration and power assisted braking. indicator lights for variety of systems light up. pull over to side and restart vehicle. vehicle exhibits "haywire" behavior, with indicators for all systems, including traction control tire pressure, battery, hybrid electric system, parking brake, etc.going off. a short video was taken of this behavior when restart was attempted after the stall. vehicile fails to restart. after additional try, vehicle starts, and traction control and some other systems remain non functional. vehicle is returned home, then returned to dealer, who advises that vehicle firmware is up to date, and that the issue "cannot be duplicated." vehicle was up to date on previous recalls relating to stalls. the stall was incredibly dangerous, and dealer does not seem to have any idea what source of the problem is. we have been sent away, being told to return the vehicle if problem shows up again. we do not feel that vehicle is safe to drive, and dealer has done nothing to address or diagnose the issue that caused the problem. the issue came after some other issues with vehicle sometimes indicating that airbags need service, or not recognizing that seatbelts were buckled. i believe the issue to be related to problems with computer firmware governing the vehicle.
While driving approximately 65mph on the highway, all of the lights on the dash came on and the car started to slow down even though i had the cruise control set. i tried to press the accelerator and the car would not speed up. i pulled over and turned the dial to park but the p did not light up. while in park the car was jerking forward and i could not set the parking brake. i turned it off at that point and tried to turn it back on to solve the problem. the problem has not yet been solved.
When using the key fob to remotely close the rear driver side sliding door or the overhead button to open or close the door or the button adjacent the door itself, it will close for only a brief moment and reopen itself on average, 2-4 times after the initial attempt to close it. two separate times the door has suddenly opened while the vehicle was parked, motor running, without any button or remote being pressed. super scary.
Automatic engine shutoff system shuts off vehicle on hills causing a rollback issue, safety problem. it also shuts off during heavy traffic heating up vehicle considerably. so far two different service departments cannot find any issues. 3 batteries have been replaced in 2 years time. transmission pops in and out of gear between 2nd and 3rd during city driving. no spare tire!! patch kit, good luck using it if you have a flat.
2017 chrysler pacifica, 33'400 miles- hesitation after placed into/ shifting gears from a stopped position, 5-10 seconds until the car jerks into gear from release of break pedal to engaging in selected gear. heated steering wheel feature only works intermittently, whether selected from settings with start or manually selected, all controls from steering wheel go out periodically after the vehicle has been in motion, will not work at all, including radio controls, cruise control button, u-connect button, vr button- not even the illumination of the controls works when this happens. usually after the car has been in motion for at least 10 minutes. has happened several times, but comes back on at random intervals while driving. has only happened on short trips. unknown cause. purchased vehicle used with 20k on it may 30,2019.
This is follow up to complaint # 11279161 and #11279427. went by dealership today, they gave me list of codes they found pcm p152f, pcm p152e, ics b210d16, ics b21dd84, rfh c007700, esm pp060700, ddm b21dd84, ddm b210c16, ddm b286015, pdm b21dd84, pdm b210c16, pdm b286015, msmb21d21, plgm b210d21, plgm b21dd16, rccc b219916, and rccc b21dd84. also told me they were checking tsb 08-099-18 rev a, something to do with front usb ports. i also was told when they first plugged in hand held scanner it showed bad auxiliary battery. they did full diagnostic and got all these codes. still not sure what problem is. my other question is when my vehicle died no other lights came on other than the ess warning light. also i have not gotten any other warning lights when engine shut off.
While coming to a stop on a city street van loses all power and stalls after making a clicking noise. i have to put it in park and start the car again.*dt*jb
2 months after recall for the auto start/stop service, the service stopped working and light came on engine. could not start car until 3rd attempt. happened two ties after engine shut off. brought to dealer, aux battery has 0 charge and a cell in main battery is now bad. reading several forums this has been common after recall even though it should not have affected it. $189 for diagnostic and $642 to fix, not covered by warranty
Couldn't start my car in the morning, got a jump and it started,(this is the third battery i have had with this vehicle and it's only a 2017) after driving out of my neighborhood it shut down, no lights, couldn't put into park or neutral and couldn't open the doors...
The start/stop icon appeared on the dash and alerted that the system is not working. it was taken into dealership where they said the auxiliary battery was dead. auxiliary battery was replaced but light did not go off. taken back into dealership and was told that it takes time for it to charge and alert should go off after driving. alert did not go off and was taken back to dealership where they said that the battery system is not charging. had to reschedule another diagnostic appointment for next week as they did not have time to fix it. none of this covered under warranty as 2017 pacifica has 45,000 miles. also alerted the dealership about the 'hard stop' jerking that occurs at shift change around 15-20 mph intermittently. they said that this could not be investigated due to the auxiliary battery not functioning.
While the vehicle was in motion on the highway, the uconnect system repeatedly displayed requests for setting a time during which the system would undergo an over-the-air software update. this dialog box could not be easily dismissed or cleared. i chose and set a time for the update; however, this request dialog was reinstantiated anytime a button was pressed, thus effectively rendering the touchscreen interface (including the navigation) unusable. the dialog had a default time for the system to update. this was set to the current time plus one minute. while attempting to clear the dialog and use the navigation, this default time was inadvertently chosen. one minute later, while the vehicle was in motion on the highway, the uconnect system initiated a software update which completely shut down the touchscreen interface and displayed a warning which said that the vehicle should be stopped and in park. as the car was in motion on the highway, this warning could not be immediately complied with. the repeated dialog boxes were incredibly distracting. the fact that the driver could inadvertently initiate a software update while in motion is not only dangerous but astoundingly absurd.
My 2017 pacifica has had many electrical problems with the windows, sunroof, sliding doors, navigation, electronic screen, and rear hatch which have been repaired except for the passenger window & sunroof. but the problem that i have told the dealership about repeatedly and they say they can never recreate is that the car doesn't accelerate often times until after the car glides into the intersection, and when it does it lurches forward. i drive cautiously because i know i am at risk of getting hit if the engine doesn't kick in the next time i turn in front of oncoming traffic! this has been going on since i bought the car.
Stopped vehicle and van automatically went into park. occasionally vehicle will not start when brake/button pressed. radio goes on by itself frequently while driving. while driving, parking assist went off by itself.
When starting the car the engine doesn't always turn over. when this happens all the sensors go down and it tells me i am not in park. the car won't turn off or on and must try it many times before anything else with happen. it seems to happen on a cooler morning
Since purchasing our pacifica, we have had nothing but issues that seem to not be getting resolved with chrysler besides continuously in the shop. we purchased the vehicle brand new so we would not have the hassle of an unreliable vehicle. the vehicle has left us stranded with less than 30,000 miles on it. while driving down the interstate, the back hatch came open. after pulling over to fix this, as i had kids in the car, the vehicle kept opening. the dealership explained that there was a recall and fixed the issue.chrysler was very difficult to work with through the first issue. the case manager said that i was exaggerated over the issues.we then had the automatic start/stop go out, this caused our display screen to freeze up as well to where we could not use our controls. at this time we again begin experiencing issues with the back hatch again. upon contacting chrysler a new case number was given and we were once again sent to the dealership. shortly after being in the shop, i dropped my child off at soccer practice. when i returned to my vehicle the whole system shut down and doors opened and would not close all electrical was shut down. the vehicle had to be towed and was in service department for a week. we were left with one vehicle trying to haul our 5 children around with work as well. recently the 9-1-1 is stuck on and freezes the display screen, along with the driver passenger sliding door opening without command of the button. the vehicle is scheduled to be serviced....again. this has been an ongoing issue to the point we do not feel safe hauling our family but financially are unable to trade in, leaving us stuck with a hefty car payment and unreliable vehicle. we would not feel comfortable trading this car in for another family as well.
The auxiliary battery failed which caused my start/stop system to disable which in turn caused my electronic stability control disable also. i have had the car just over a year with 55,000 miles on it.
The vehicle will stall and then hard shift from first to second gear. we initially noticed the hard shifting when we bought the vehicle but thought it might be the auto stop/start system. we didn't think much of it until it started shifting harder when we would stop or be driving. this, at times, caused issues when turning or accelerating to go through an intersection. the vehicle stalling causes a safety hazard and presents an opportunity for an accident to occur due to the delayed response of the vehicle. the cars following behind could potentially rear end the vehicle. the hard-shifting feels like someone hit you from behind and causes back and neck pain from the sudden jerking movement. this vehicle has also completely stopped when being driven causing a serious safety hazard. it started up again immediately after that incident only to not start at all a few months later. this vehicle has been nothing but trouble for us from the very beginning. we stayed optimistic that the recalls would fix the issues. they haven't. it's only a matter of time before someone is seriously injured or heaven forbid dies because of this issue. we have had 8+ service visits for this van. at one time it was completely inoperable and had to be towed to the service department. we are frustrated with chrysler and the service department at ancira chrysler, jeep and dodge in san antonio, tx.
After several stops for shopping the van would crank over but not start, repeatedly. after 15 minutes of trying and a 5 minute cooldown the van started.
On september 16, 2019 near 10 am my 2017 chrysler pacifica was parked in family garage since the 13th without being driven. the key fob didn't work and no power was available to start or accessories. an attempt was made to jump it with cables from my wife's car and it would not start. tow was request to near by dodge dealer jack phelan in countryside, ill. early afternoon two different tow truck companies were summoned and they both were unsuccessful in jumping it.after two days they stated the batteries were defective and both needed replacement. still under warranty otherwise cost was given as over $600.00.
Vehicle was being driven at approximately 35 mph when it spontaneously became extremely lower on power and lost all power steering along with numerous error messages and dash lights being illuminated. the van was able to be driven into a parking lot where it was restarted and driven through the lot. after approximately 30 seconds the van had the exact same issue but this time was not able to be restarted. martins chrysler of untion grove wisconsin came and picked up the vehicle. the owner of martins said the vehicle started but then he experienced the same issue we had. aside from some start/stop and electrical/charging system error messages previously there was no warning at the time of this incident. we've had the van in before for these error messages but the dealer never found the cause of the issue.
Tl* the contact owns a 2017 chrysler pacifica. the contact stated that the engine stalled without warning; however, the electrical system remained activated. the contact was able to engage the hazard lights and move the vehicle out of traffic. the contact also stated that the vehicle exhibited electrical failures. the instrumental panel darkened, the interior lighting did not illuminate, "key fob not detected" or "key fob left" appeared when the key fob was in the ignition switch. the vehicle was taken to mcclarty daniel chrysler, dodge, jeep, ram (3709 south thompson street, springdale, ar 72764, (479)-715-4476). the dealer test drove the vehicle, but was unable to duplicate the failures. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was not contacted. the approximate failure mileage was 34,500.
Vehicle stalling due to dead battery according to dealership. vehicle stalled while driving. i was able to start it again after coming to a stop, but it took 3 times pushing the start button before it turned over. had the vehicle towed to the dealership to run diagnostic and they concluded the battery was dead and no other malfunction was reported.
The car simplywont start. check engine light turned on, service abs, service esc, parking brake unavailable, power steering unavailable. the power doors dont work. shifter is lockedand the auto park brake was locked. the car wont even shift to neutral so it can be towed.
We took a 7 hr trip in our 2017 pacifica on sat back home from vacation. the next day we drove to a local movie theater. we observed several warning lights appear for no reason. the next day the van would not start. both batteries are dead. we used a battery charge to charge main battery but it would only charge to 11,6 and will not start the van. we tried jumper cables. nothing will start the van. when roadside assistance came to tow the van to the shop the manual park release did not work and the rear tires were locked. something is seriously draining the battery as soon as you take it off the battery charger. something in the computer is sucking all the life from the battery. very frustrating since i just took the van into the shop a couple of weeks ago to get the fourth recall issue fixed.
When parked, the car would not initially "push to start" and when it did start it displayed errors to "service shifter, " "service parking brake, " "parking break unavailable." vehicle was parked in garage.
Tl* the contact owns a 2017 chrysler pacifica. after refueling the vehicle, the contact was unable to restart the vehicle. after several attempts, the vehicle restarted and unknown warning indicators remained illuminated. the vehicle was taken to olathe dodge chrysler jeep ram (located at 15500 w 117th st, olathe, ks 66062, (913) 780-3700) to be diagnosed, which was still pending. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was not notified of the failure. the failure mileage was 38,508. piir = y.
Electrical system began acting erratic. when parked, the car would not initially "push to start" and when it did start it displayed errors to "service shifter," "service parking brake," "parking break unavailable." on the drive, while in motion, the air conditioning began to increase and decrease in power/speed without driver input. the vehicle then turned off on the highway. after restarting and making it home the car had difficulty turning on again. the sliding doors and lift gate were also said to be "unavailable."
I have taken this vehicle in for repairs multiple times and it is schedule for repairs again this week. there have been multiple electrical issues including problems with the sliding doors, anti lock brake system had to be replaced, the battery system is grounding out, issues with the radio screen, and now the auto on off system is not working. in addition, i had to take the vehicle in for the ball joints bolts coming loose three time and they just used loctite to make them say on . they never realigned the vehicle and now i have to replace tires that are unsafe. chrysler should own this and i am still convinced the ball joints could be damaged from this issue and they should replace them. however, the biggest issue is the transmission. it will be going in for the fifth time this week for the same issue that the dealer keep claiming is how i drive it. when taking off from a dead stop the transmission hesitates, which is a serious safety issue. also, when driving and you let off the accelerator to brake it will hammer real hard. this a serious safety issue and chrysler and the dealer refuse to own it. i filed my second complaint with chrysler last week. this all needs to be resolved so i have a safe vehicle for my family. i feel they are stalling so my warranty will run out and i have no recourse.
While driving my 2017 chrysler pacifica on 7/11/2017 the minivan completely shut off in the middle of the intersection , i have to put it in park and start the vehicle again , hard shifting is been a common issue on a daily basis .
The transmission gets stuck in gear and hits a certain mph and then drops even while pressing the gas. most commonly happens at 15mph and around 45-50mph. then suddenly it lurches into the next gear throwing the car forwards and revving up the mph. the doors open and close randomly. the dvd screens don't work consistently and the keys have to be registered to the car frequently bc they lose their connection.
First, the two batteries in the vehicles are failing prematurely. ours just failed about a week after the start/stop system light activated on dash. our van was parked for 7 days at an airport and upon returning from vacation the batteries were dead and unable to be recharged. ironically, my sister-in law in california whom we were visiting, had the exact same problem with theirs while we were there. again, a 2017 chrysler pacifica. my research shows this is a reoccurring issue all across the country according to google research and carcomplaints.com. some people are having their van die or stall while in motion. second, there is a problem with the paint bubbling up around the hood edges. again, my research on google and carcomplaints.com reveals many are suffering this bubbling paint issue. last, the transmission has an extremely hard shift intermittently between 10 to 15 mph. so hard in fact, it feels as if you have been rear ended. again, research on google and carcomplaints, com and pacifica forums, indicate this is not an isolated issue. many are experiencing this issue.
Tl* the contact owns a 2017 chrysler pacifica. the contact stated that there was an intermittent electrical short. while pulling in the driveway, the battery lost power and the vehicle stalled. ed payne chrysler dodge jeep ram (2101 e expressway 83, weslaco, tx 78599, (956) 272-1902) indicated that the oem battery was not available and the part had to be ordered, which may not be available until july 18, 2019. a loaner vehicle was not provided the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. the manufacturer was notified of the failure and stated that the vin was excluded from nhtsa campaign number: 19v348000 (electrical system); although, the failurewas identical. the approxiamte failure mielage was 22,000.
Tl* the contact owns a 2017 chrysler pacifica. while driving 35 mph, the vehicle began to hesitate and the security system warning indicator illuminated. the contact stated that the engine seized on the side of the road. the contact had to jump start the vehicle, but the failure recurred. upon investigation, the contact associated the failure with nhtsa campaign number: 19v348000 (electrical system). the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic and a new battery was purchased. the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. the dealer and manufacturer were not notified. the failure mileage was 50,000.
Tl* the contact owns a 2017 chrysler pacifica. the contact stated that the door push button failed to open the door from inside the vehicle. the vehicle was not taken to a dealer or an independent mechanic for diagnostic testing. the vehicle was not repaired. in addition, the vehicle was serviced per an unknown recall. afterwards, the vehicle failed to start, the steering wheel was difficult to turn, and all the warning indicators turned on and off. the failure recurred twice. the vehicle was previously serviced per nhtsa campaign number: 19v348000 (electrical system). on another occasion, while driving, the steering wheel seized and a warning indicator illuminated, indicating to park and start engine. the engine failed to start. the vehicle was towed to lone star chrysler dodge jeep ram (8811 interstate 35 access rd, san antonio, tx 78211, (210) 828-1515) where multiple inspections were completed. the contact was unaware of the diagnostic results. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was notified of the failure and provided case number: 63275357. the approximate failure mileage was 22,500.
Auto start/stop warning light illuminated on panel. no reason for this to turn on as car was in motion and option had been turned off.
Radio screen went black. nothing connected with screen can be used (radio, backup camera, climate control, etc.
---service electronic stability control--- while my was in motion, i received a message saying, "service electronic stability control". during this time, i noticed my vehicle's ac lowered and i could hear the engine shift and i felt a jump. it did this
Currently have 53,078 miles on this van. it is serviced regularly by the same dealership we bought it from. today as i was picking up my kids from school( speed limit is 15 mph) van suddenly lost power, it made beeping noise, and dash said to shift to park. i shifted to park and shut it down then restarted. it is driving normal again but i'm still taking it into dealership because ever since it had a software update last year, i have had issues with transmission slipping as i drive on highway. it slows down by itself and jerks van roughly as it automatically shifts to next gear. also the trunk stopped making beeping sound when it opens.
As i was exiting the parking garage, the trunk opened up while the car was being driven. there was a loud noise from the liftgate and the rear windshield was shattered, plus the wiper system broke.
Our pacifica was stopped at a stoplight. when the light turned green, the parking brake engaged and a message came up that said to service the shifter. we were able to turn off the engine and restart it, but we were not able to get the pacifica to shift to drive or to get the parking brake to disengage. sheriff's deputies who came and remained on scene with us who are familiar with chrysler cars were also not able to get our pacifica to move. thankfully this incident happened in a situation that was not terribly busy. i am concerned that this would have been extremely dangerous if it had occurred on a busy road. the document from the repair cites tsb 18-002-19. the work that was done was to replace the shifter. our van only had 41962 miles on it at the time of the incident. if this is a common issue, some work should be done to set up some sort of recall that would make this less of a safety issue. as a result of this incident and a similar incident due to a hood latch sensor failure we no longer felt safe in this vehicle. once the repair was complete, we traded in the van to buy something we feel much more safe in.
Vehicle "jerks" when automatically shifting. this happens at slow speeds, while in motion, on city streets. has been taken to dealer, and was told nothing could be done unless the "check engine" light was on. passenger side sliding door will retract as if something is blocking its track when there is nothing there. paint is bubbling on the hood
My 2017 chrysler pacifica lost all dashboard power yesterday which meant no heat, etc. i was going to bring it in to the dealer this morning but the power doors weren't working and it wouldn't start. a few minutes later everything electrical shut down and now it's completely dead. seems there are many cases of issues with this make model year. luckily it died when stationary.
I was in a parking lot and i turned the van on with the lights on auto and the interior lights flashed on then went dark...no speedometer, no gas guage, no navigation, radio, or phone connection. i turned the car on and off twice but it didn't fix it. then i turned the headlights off and the dash came back. i turned the headlights on and off twice more and nothing changed. we just bought this car and i am concerned it's a lemon.
On multiple occasions the vehicle's engine has shut off while in operation on city streets bringing the car to a stop in traffic. two of the occasions have occurred while crossing a street with oncoming traffic. two of the occasions occurred in our neighborhood street. the vehicle then instructs the driver to shift into park to start the engine again. after shifting into park and attempting to start the vehicle all power/electrical is lost leaving the vehicle stranded.
