When passing a farm tractor car went in to the passing gear and then there was no accelartion would not shift into any gear could not shut car off after awhile side doors wouldn't open after about 2 hours car finally started and went back to normal
This is the second complaint i have filed in 24 hours. i believe i am having a known problem/recall in my vehicle: engine stall due to software issue an engine stall can increase the risk of a crash. nhtsa campaign number: 18v049000 i drove about 3 miles. parked my vehicle and pushed the button to open the sliding back door. when i pushed the button the entire vehicle turned off including the engine and all the lights. nothing on the dash remained lit. i tried to restart it and nothing happened. no sounds, click or lights appeared. i opened my door and waited about a minute then the interior lights turned on. the sliding back door had to be manually pulled shut at this point. i tried to start the vehicle again and nothing happened. i tried again and it hesitated, then started. i was able to drive about 10 miles to work after that.
I believe my vehicle is have the issue of a known recall on this type of vehicle: engine stall or loss of power steering assist a loss of power steering assist or a stall can increase the risk of crash. i was driving and suddenly the power steering went out and the vehicle came to a stop. i was instructed on the screen to put the vehicle in park. once i put it in park the vehicle shut off. i tried restarting it. the brake was stiff and would not push in. when i pushed the button it went to "acc" then when i pushed it again it went to "run" but the vehicle was not on and i could not change the shifter out of the park position. this was very dangerous and happened while vehicles were driving behind me causing people to suddenly come to a stop.
Tl* the contact owns a 2017 chrysler pacifica. the contact stated that while waiting at a stop sign, the vehicle turned off. no warning indicators illuminated. the contact also stated that the failure occurred at least six times since 2018. the vehicle was taken to the dealer napleton's northlake chrysler, jeep/ram (3701 northlake blvd, lake park, fl 33403) they had not rendered a diagnostic. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 49,000.
While driving, vehicle completely lost power/stalled. power steering lost, all acceleration and power assisted braking. indicator lights for variety of systems light up. pull over to side and restart vehicle. vehicle exhibits "haywire" behavior, with indicators for all systems, including traction control tire pressure, battery, hybrid electric system, parking brake, etc.going off. a short video was taken of this behavior when restart was attempted after the stall. vehicile fails to restart. after additional try, vehicle starts, and traction control and some other systems remain non functional. vehicle is returned home, then returned to dealer, who advises that vehicle firmware is up to date, and that the issue "cannot be duplicated." vehicle was up to date on previous recalls relating to stalls. the stall was incredibly dangerous, and dealer does not seem to have any idea what source of the problem is. we have been sent away, being told to return the vehicle if problem shows up again. we do not feel that vehicle is safe to drive, and dealer has done nothing to address or diagnose the issue that caused the problem. the issue came after some other issues with vehicle sometimes indicating that airbags need service, or not recognizing that seatbelts were buckled. i believe the issue to be related to problems with computer firmware governing the vehicle.
While in motion at lower speeds the transmission violently jerks between gears giving the feeling the car is out of control.
Transmission issues are out of control!!! vehicle looses power at low speed then lurches into gear thrusting forward at an alarming rate. this has put us in danger several times. chrysler fails to acknowledge the issue saying they can't recreate the event. on christmas eve the transmission gave out completely going through a light on the highway and lights came on and were flashing. towed it to the shop where they told us it needed 'reflashed' basically recalibrated and that every pacifica would need this update in order to continue driving. they also charged us $150 to do this mandatory update. sounds as if that should be considered a recall. i'm not happy to announce the vehicle is back to the same issues and i know it's only a matter of time before it happens again. we have also have to replace all spark plugs and all ignition coils as because the vehicle just breaks downs suddenly cause lights to come in and be flashing while shaking and not shifting correctly. it seems related to the transmission issues but we will never truly know as we are lied to so often when it's in the shop. chrysler cares is no help at all!
Hesitation when i turn and try to accelerate. i thought it was my gas but i'm seeing there was a recall on some 2017 for this problem. mine has done this several times when i turn. it has only happened on the city streets while in motion. almost like it wants to stall out then a small few small jerks and then takes off. i just bought this van in march 2019 from westgate jeff wyler. there was no recalls for this van but i'm having the same problem they recalled on other 2017 pacifica. it's done this several times
We have had to replace all spark plugs and all ignition coils as because the vehicle just breaks downs suddenly cause lights to come on and be flashing while shaking very violently and not shifting correctly. this is usually following the issues we have with the transmission stalling and hard shifting forward more often than usual. it is underivable in this condition and requires a tow to the shop. we are told this is normal maintenance but starting at 6,000 miles hardly seems normal. spark plugs shouldn't even need replaced until at least 100,000 miles let alone any sort of coil.
Had auxiliary battery replaced approximately 5 months ago because the ess was not functionally properly. no problems until today 11/9/19 while on vacation in washington dc. the engine shutoff totally at stop light. put car in park, depressed brake, vehicle started and ess warning light stayed on and no other lights came on, pulled out of traffic into parking lot and vehicle was slow to accelerate at first, turned vehicle off myself, let it sit a minute. restarted vehicle with no problems and ess light was off. called dealership where i purchased vehicle and chrysler customer service about what happened. neither on had any ideas or suggestions except to take to dealership. dealership did say might be oil change was due or oil was low. had oil changed about month ago. said they had not received any complaints about this 11issue.
Tl* the contact owns a 2017 chrysler pacifica. while attempting to reverse the vehicle, the steering wheel needed extra strength to steer and the engine and power steering assist indicators illuminated. the contact referenced nhtsa campaign number: 19v348000 (electrical system). the vehicle was taken to greenbrier motor company (9841 seneca trail, lewisburg, wv 24901, (304) 645-1010), but the failure could not be duplicated. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure and informed the contact that the vin was not included in the recall. the failure mileage was 46,900.
Tl* the contact owns a 2017 chrysler pacifica. while driving approximately 15 mph and attempting to turn on an incline, the vehicle stalled. there were no warning indicators illuminated. the vehicle was not taken to the dealer or an independent mechanic for diagnostic testing. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the vehicle was not repaired. the approximate failure mileage was 63,000.
When starting the car the engine doesn't always turn over. when this happens all the sensors go down and it tells me i am not in park. the car won't turn off or on and must try it many times before anything else with happen. it seems to happen on a cooler morning
The vehicle will stall and then hard shift from first to second gear. we initially noticed the hard shifting when we bought the vehicle but thought it might be the auto stop/start system. we didn't think much of it until it started shifting harder when we would stop or be driving. this, at times, caused issues when turning or accelerating to go through an intersection. the vehicle stalling causes a safety hazard and presents an opportunity for an accident to occur due to the delayed response of the vehicle. the cars following behind could potentially rear end the vehicle. the hard-shifting feels like someone hit you from behind and causes back and neck pain from the sudden jerking movement. this vehicle has also completely stopped when being driven causing a serious safety hazard. it started up again immediately after that incident only to not start at all a few months later. this vehicle has been nothing but trouble for us from the very beginning. we stayed optimistic that the recalls would fix the issues. they haven't. it's only a matter of time before someone is seriously injured or heaven forbid dies because of this issue. we have had 8+ service visits for this van. at one time it was completely inoperable and had to be towed to the service department. we are frustrated with chrysler and the service department at ancira chrysler, jeep and dodge in san antonio, tx.
While leaving the neighborhood, came to a stop, auto stop/start engaged, released brake to accelerate, vehicle died. moved shifter to park and attempted to restart. odd stuttering sound like the engine can't turn over. repeated several times without success, then called for a tow to dealer. radio still worked and both batteries had been replaced about 3 weeks ago. dealer says abs error light is on but vehicle started. awaiting diagnosis.
Vehicle was being driven at approximately 35 mph when it spontaneously became extremely lower on power and lost all power steering along with numerous error messages and dash lights being illuminated. the van was able to be driven into a parking lot where it was restarted and driven through the lot. after approximately 30 seconds the van had the exact same issue but this time was not able to be restarted. martins chrysler of untion grove wisconsin came and picked up the vehicle. the owner of martins said the vehicle started but then he experienced the same issue we had. aside from some start/stop and electrical/charging system error messages previously there was no warning at the time of this incident. we've had the van in before for these error messages but the dealer never found the cause of the issue.
Driving vehicle and it just turns off. i am 80 and it turned off in traffic circle. it has happened twice and is exactly described in june recall. vehicle has no open recalls and has happened twice in last week.
First time apex august 6, 2019 - started car in driveway. proceeded to drive out of driveway and engine shut off. second time was september 7, 2019. in a parking lot at store started car. proceeded out of parking lot onto a small street to a stop sign at end of street. pulled out of street onto 4 lane highway when engine shut off. were able to just make it to the center turning lane to stop and restart car. car was purchased at a chrysler dealer used on july 5, 2019. no notice was given to us regarding issues with this make/model.
Tl* the contact owns a 2017 chrysler pacifica. the contact stated that the engine stalled without warning; however, the electrical system remained activated. the contact was able to engage the hazard lights and move the vehicle out of traffic. the contact also stated that the vehicle exhibited electrical failures. the instrumental panel darkened, the interior lighting did not illuminate, "key fob not detected" or "key fob left" appeared when the key fob was in the ignition switch. the vehicle was taken to mcclarty daniel chrysler, dodge, jeep, ram (3709 south thompson street, springdale, ar 72764, (479)-715-4476). the dealer test drove the vehicle, but was unable to duplicate the failures. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was not contacted. the approximate failure mileage was 34,500.
The car simplywont start. check engine light turned on, service abs, service esc, parking brake unavailable, power steering unavailable. the power doors dont work. shifter is lockedand the auto park brake was locked. the car wont even shift to neutral so it can be towed.
We took a 7 hr trip in our 2017 pacifica on sat back home from vacation. the next day we drove to a local movie theater. we observed several warning lights appear for no reason. the next day the van would not start. both batteries are dead. we used a battery charge to charge main battery but it would only charge to 11,6 and will not start the van. we tried jumper cables. nothing will start the van. when roadside assistance came to tow the van to the shop the manual park release did not work and the rear tires were locked. something is seriously draining the battery as soon as you take it off the battery charger. something in the computer is sucking all the life from the battery. very frustrating since i just took the van into the shop a couple of weeks ago to get the fourth recall issue fixed.
My 2017 pacifica touring plus van shut off three times. after the first shut off i took it to dealer for this issue, but they could not able to recreate the "shut off" , they said they fixed something for not to shut off, but recently on 7/29/19 and 7/31/19 it was again asked to move shift to p and shut off, even i tried to restart the engine, it didn't after 3 to 4 times try it was started again. i was middle of the road with speed limit 40mph, lucky none of the vehicle was not close. i see many cases like this with 2017 chrysler pacifica, so i request chrysler pacifica to fix this issue asap by recalling the affected vehicles. it is always life threatening dangerous to the customer. other than this issue (shut off) the vehicle is good.
Stalled when i pressed accelerator and died adter waiting for a light. turned off and i had to restart the car in an intersection with a bus behind me!
Auto stop/start malfunction. after stop at light, engine shuts off but will not restart. has occurred at least 10 times. after latest failure, parked engine self started in garage, caused co alarm to sound at 1 am.
Engine stalls after idling for long period of time. spent several hours driving at neighborhood speeds to house hunt. this would include idling with air conditioner going for several minutes before moving again. while beginning to move after being at idle for several minutes the car stalled and would not restart. shut off car for a minute completely and tried to restart. it would idle but would not respond to pushing on the accelerator. after two more minutes with all power off, the car restarted. we drove a mile and the car stalled again. was able to pull off safely and wait again for a couple of minutes. restarted and got about a mile again before stalling. waited three minutes and restarted and got two miles before stalling again. pulled off waited again, this time was able to drive home. thank goodness the traffic lights were with us. this car went into the dealer for the same reason last year for the computer reset/reprogram recall. it has happened twice since then. this situation would be almost impossible for any dealer to replicate as it takes several hours of driving and idling to occur. i will mention that i live in phoenix, az and the temperature was apx. 110 degrees on the day of this occurrence on saturday july 20, 2019. the car has less than 7000 miles and was purchased in november of 2017. this does not occur under similar driving conditions when the temperature is below 90 degrees. for more explanation when the stall is being to occur, the accelerator no longer responds to the push on the pedal. you will have several seconds to pull off the road before the call engine stalls out completely and you lose brakes and steering.
While driving my 2017 chrysler pacifica on 7/11/2017 the minivan completely shut off in the middle of the intersection , i have to put it in park and start the vehicle again , hard shifting is been a common issue on a daily basis .
Pacifica turned itself off when turning left slowly on a hill. i had to start it again. no warning lights or other indicators.
Leasing 2017 pacific touring l. ever since it passed 8k miles, jerking movements after coming to a stop, like some body hit you from behind. took it east hills chrysler and jeep dealer in long island, ny twice. the first time they updated the software they said. 2nd time they couldn't duplicate the problem. ofcourse cuz this jerking movement happens. sometimes. in june 2019 this is happening a lot everyday with the ny city traffic on the highway. may 2019, van stalled while stopped at red light. screen said 'shift to park to drive....' had to do shift and press the start button twice to get the control back of the vehicle. this time wife and 2 children with me. of course ppl started honking and yelling cuz it's nyc. also most of the time while fueling, the fuel pump stops. really scared to drive this van anymore.
Tl* the contact owns a 2017 chrysler pacifica. the contact stated that the door push button failed to open the door from inside the vehicle. the vehicle was not taken to a dealer or an independent mechanic for diagnostic testing. the vehicle was not repaired. in addition, the vehicle was serviced per an unknown recall. afterwards, the vehicle failed to start, the steering wheel was difficult to turn, and all the warning indicators turned on and off. the failure recurred twice. the vehicle was previously serviced per nhtsa campaign number: 19v348000 (electrical system). on another occasion, while driving, the steering wheel seized and a warning indicator illuminated, indicating to park and start engine. the engine failed to start. the vehicle was towed to lone star chrysler dodge jeep ram (8811 interstate 35 access rd, san antonio, tx 78211, (210) 828-1515) where multiple inspections were completed. the contact was unaware of the diagnostic results. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was notified of the failure and provided case number: 63275357. the approximate failure mileage was 22,500.
The vehicle has made transmission noises from 11k miles on. they immediately replaced the first transmission, then second one behaved the same. there is a clunking noise when you touch the gas. i filed complaint, took it back in numerous times, they claim "it just does that" now the vehicle is difficult to accelerate in dangerous situations, pushing down the gas, the car does not shift appropriately.
After stopping at a red light, attempted to turn left. after releasing brake and attempting to accelerate the engine stalled, cut off, and would not restart for several minutes.
When driving and idling going anywhere from 14 to 18 mph. then trying to accelerate, the car will pause and then a few seconds later accelerate hard with a large jerk almost causing whiplash. i have had it into the dealership for repair multiple times. they have had a new (used) transmission in and the problem persisted. now we are being told we have to have a 3rd transmission and they want us to pay over $5100. we should not have to pay since the van has been in the shop multiple times for the problem.
Van stalling while moving at slow speed on 101 northbound freeway.
I was in a accident and the other driver was at fault. my passenger side got hit going 65 and the chevy truck ran into to us failing to slow down to there lane ending and hit my passenger side and the side of the van none of my side air bags went off and she was going full speed when hitting us. i was also seen in the hospital due to being pregnant.
While in motion on city street the engine caught on fire shortly after dealer service. *dt consumer's wife noticed smoke coming from the engine/hood and then flames. consumer stated check engine light was on so consumer took the car in. service report mentions replacing the fuel pressure sensor and steps taken.*jb
My start/stop system keeps malfunctioning and my car will shut off in the middle of driving and intersections. also in about 3rd gear it will shift really abruptly.
I continue to have problems with "jerking" while driving my 2017 pacifica. the best way i can describe it as the car "jerks" forward very forcefully. i have had it in 6 times for the same "jerking" motion. i am concerned that it may cause an accident if it jerks and completely stops. the "jerking" happens at very random times, acceleration, coasting, cruise control use, and slowing down. some days it happens multiple times a day, and others it can go a week or two without happening. chrysler has replaced valves and the entire transmission unit, however, the problem is still happening. for the past month, when the jerking happens, the steering wheel now attempts to lock and this didn't start happening until chrysler started "messing" with parts. the vehicle was purchased with 18k miles on it as a "chrysler certified vehicle." i have filed a case with chrysler and was told i would be contacted within 24-48 hours and it has been 8 days with no contact from them. i have reached out to them day after day and still haven't recv'd a call back. i don't feel comfortable driving this on busy roads with my children in the car for fear of an accident.
On multiple occasions the vehicle's engine has shut off while in operation on city streets bringing the car to a stop in traffic. two of the occasions have occurred while crossing a street with oncoming traffic. two of the occasions occurred in our neighborhood street. the vehicle then instructs the driver to shift into park to start the engine again. after shifting into park and attempting to start the vehicle all power/electrical is lost leaving the vehicle stranded.
Wife was driving the vehicle and it shut off while approaching an intersection. vehicle shut down, gave warning that it must be in park before restarting.
Our 2017 chrysler pacifica has been jerking into gear and won't accelerate and then after a few moments, it does. the jerking feels as if someone just hit you from behind and you stall before being able to accelerate. this always happened while in motion flat road, incline, or down hill. when we called the dealership and took it in and informed them of the issue, they said they didn't see a problem. now, we have an unknown message that says "service shifter". this came after the van was sitting and we got in to start the vehicle. it wouldn't start. had to wait for a tow. the power windows, doors, hatch won't work but the radio and communications systems work fine.
Ac no longer blows cool air-- diagnosed as needing a new ac compressor. the ac is not used year round and there is no reason that the compressor should need to be replaced at only 2.5 years old.
Tl* the contact owns a 2017 chrysler pacifica. while driving various speeds, the vehicle lunged forward when accelerating. the failure occurred intermittently. there were no warning indicators illuminated. west herr chrysler dodge jeep ram of lockport (6200 s transit rd, lockport, ny 14094, (716) 239-4769) diagnosed the vehicle, but could not find a failure. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure. the failure mileage was 20,000. *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2017 chrysler pacifica. while driving at an unknown speed, the vehicle made a loud abnormal noise and jerked violently. the contact stated that the failures occurred at least five times. the contact planned to take the vehicle to larry h. miller chrysler jeep dodge ram surprise (13165 n autoshow ave, surprise, az 85388) where they would change the oil and update the computer software. the manufacturer had not been contacted. the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. the failure mileage was 13,000.
The vehicle electronics malfunctioned with the windows rolling down on there own. following that the vehicle completely shutdown at around 40 mph locking up the steering, loss of power steering, engine turned off and would not restart. this occurred on the highway and this is the second time this occurred. the key fob will not work and the car will not start again. i can't even lock the vehicle. luckily we had started to slow down and did not have to turn or this would have resulted in an accident with my kids in the vehicle. i will not be putting my family in this van again.
Tl* the contact owns a 2017 chrysler pacifica. after accelerating into an intersection, the vehicle suddenly stalled and "shift to park" displayed on the instrument panel. the vehicle was able to restart and was later towed to an unknown dealer. the dealer was unable to duplicate the failure. the manufacturer was not notified. the vin was not available. the failure mileage was 24,000.
Rough idle and constant rattling noise at highway speeds coming from the lower passenger side of door. driver's side seat belt area rattling when driving on country roads.
Engine, lights, and all electrical shut off twice. the first time we were stopped waiting to make a left turn.we were able to restart it right away. the second time we were making a right turn off of a busy road onto a side street and got about half way through the turn when everything shut off and we were not able to restart it.this was scary and very dangerous fortunately the van rolled sufficiently to get off the main rd. we tried to push it further but with out electric we were not able to release the parking brake which turns on when the engine stops. we were finally able to start it with the help of a portable jump starter that we always carry in the vehicle. we took it to the dealer and they were not able to find anything wrong. i have no idea what the problem is but it involves a total electric disconnect that is possibly reconnected when an outside power source is introduced (jump starter) . i am afraid to drive it. i notice online several more of the same type complaints. the first was 12/26/18. the second was 1/6/19.
Tl* the contact owns a 2017 chrysler pacifica. while driving 35 to 50 mph, the vehicle jerked violently when the brake pedal was depressed to stop the vehicle. the vehicle was taken to jim click jeep (701 w auto mall dr, tucson, az 85705, (866) 933-1114) where the computer was upgraded. the dealer stated that the failure could not be duplicated and it was a normal characteristic of the vehicle. the vehicle was not repaired. the vehicle was then taken to larry h. miller chrysler jeep tucson (7800 e 22nd st, tucson, az 85710, (520) 395-9310), but the failure could not be duplicated. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure and informed the contact that there was no failure with the vehicle. the failure mileage was 18,000.
Vehicle started having issues starting, the vehicle would not start once the start button was pushed. once it did start and put into reverse or drive the vehicle would not move. i would have to turn the vehicle off, and on again several times before it would start. the vehicle would shut off and then turn back on while on the interstate whenever speed was reduced. the headlights would spontaneously shut off at night while driving, and could not be turned back on. the inside dash lights would also turn off making for a very unsafe situation. the air control also did not work properly. it would be very hot at 68 degrees, and would not blow a steady flow of air. it will speed up then slow down. *bf... *tr
This is my second, possibly third time reporting a significant problem with this van. i have lost power while trying to accelerate multiple times. today i lost power while accelerating, the vehicle revved and rpm went up to about 6000, no power was going to the engine and i was unable to accelerate, then full power went to engine and the van lunged forward and gained speed. the acc cruise control light also went on. i did not lose power steering and i am not sure if the engine turned off. due to so many problems occurring while driving, i frequently record my drives- i was able to capture this on video. the video only shows my dash and does not do it justice, but shows the rpm, vehicle speed slowing, and then accelerating. i have a few more videos with similar problems, but this is one of the few that i was able to capture. my children are afraid of riding in this car, we have has issue after issue and simply want to be safe while driving.
