Many other drivers complaining about same issue: 1. driving at low speed (10mph or less) transmission does a hard shift as if it was trying to engage 2nd or 3rd shift. car does a huge bump when the shift is engaged. 2. at high speed (65mph ~) is possible to hear a rattling noise coming from left side panel / drivers side. this is very concerning for us. already have dealer check the vehicle but they always say they could not reproduce the issue. this is happening since the very first recall for this car. before the first recall, no issue.
While vehicle is both stationary and moving the shift selector or dial turns off. you cannot see what gear you are in when this happens. the vehicle has turned off while in motion! the tie rods on this vehicle broke at less than 20k miles. the vehicle has had multiple recalls which have been fixed but continues to have intermittent electrical issues. all of these have been reported to chrysler.
Transmission issues are out of control!!! vehicle looses power at low speed then lurches into gear thrusting forward at an alarming rate. this has put us in danger several times. chrysler fails to acknowledge the issue saying they can't recreate the event. on christmas eve the transmission gave out completely going through a light on the highway and lights came on and were flashing. towed it to the shop where they told us it needed 'reflashed' basically recalibrated and that every pacifica would need this update in order to continue driving. they also charged us $150 to do this mandatory update. sounds as if that should be considered a recall. i'm not happy to announce the vehicle is back to the same issues and i know it's only a matter of time before it happens again. we have also have to replace all spark plugs and all ignition coils as because the vehicle just breaks downs suddenly cause lights to come in and be flashing while shaking and not shifting correctly. it seems related to the transmission issues but we will never truly know as we are lied to so often when it's in the shop. chrysler cares is no help at all!
Automatic engine shutoff system shuts off vehicle on hills causing a rollback issue, safety problem. it also shuts off during heavy traffic heating up vehicle considerably. so far two different service departments cannot find any issues. 3 batteries have been replaced in 2 years time. transmission pops in and out of gear between 2nd and 3rd during city driving. no spare tire!! patch kit, good luck using it if you have a flat.
Navigation system locked up in traffic and caused a distraction contacted fiat chrysler uconnect was told that a update was needed and neither they or dealer could affect the update tthe specialist at uconnect was kym phone 8008266632 ext 3024871 case 68253619
The vehicle stalls when stopping on city street.
We have had to replace all spark plugs and all ignition coils as because the vehicle just breaks downs suddenly cause lights to come on and be flashing while shaking very violently and not shifting correctly. this is usually following the issues we have with the transmission stalling and hard shifting forward more often than usual. it is underivable in this condition and requires a tow to the shop. we are told this is normal maintenance but starting at 6,000 miles hardly seems normal. spark plugs shouldn't even need replaced until at least 100,000 miles let alone any sort of coil.
When driving an turning makes clanking noise under car, car get stuck in cars an then jerks when changes, been telling chrysler dealer where i get my repairs an tune ups i'm told it all part of the electrical system been telling them this since i got the car new 2017
The start/stop icon appeared on the dash and alerted that the system is not working. it was taken into dealership where they said the auxiliary battery was dead. auxiliary battery was replaced but light did not go off. taken back into dealership and was told that it takes time for it to charge and alert should go off after driving. alert did not go off and was taken back to dealership where they said that the battery system is not charging. had to reschedule another diagnostic appointment for next week as they did not have time to fix it. none of this covered under warranty as 2017 pacifica has 45,000 miles. also alerted the dealership about the 'hard stop' jerking that occurs at shift change around 15-20 mph intermittently. they said that this could not be investigated due to the auxiliary battery not functioning.
Since purchasing our pacifica, we have had nothing but issues that seem to not be getting resolved with chrysler besides continuously in the shop. we purchased the vehicle brand new so we would not have the hassle of an unreliable vehicle. the vehicle has left us stranded with less than 30,000 miles on it. while driving down the interstate, the back hatch came open. after pulling over to fix this, as i had kids in the car, the vehicle kept opening. the dealership explained that there was a recall and fixed the issue.chrysler was very difficult to work with through the first issue. the case manager said that i was exaggerated over the issues.we then had the automatic start/stop go out, this caused our display screen to freeze up as well to where we could not use our controls. at this time we again begin experiencing issues with the back hatch again. upon contacting chrysler a new case number was given and we were once again sent to the dealership. shortly after being in the shop, i dropped my child off at soccer practice. when i returned to my vehicle the whole system shut down and doors opened and would not close all electrical was shut down. the vehicle had to be towed and was in service department for a week. we were left with one vehicle trying to haul our 5 children around with work as well. recently the 9-1-1 is stuck on and freezes the display screen, along with the driver passenger sliding door opening without command of the button. the vehicle is scheduled to be serviced....again. this has been an ongoing issue to the point we do not feel safe hauling our family but financially are unable to trade in, leaving us stuck with a hefty car payment and unreliable vehicle. we would not feel comfortable trading this car in for another family as well.
After several stops for shopping the van would crank over but not start, repeatedly. after 15 minutes of trying and a 5 minute cooldown the van started.
Driving vehicle and it just turns off. i am 80 and it turned off in traffic circle. it has happened twice and is exactly described in june recall. vehicle has no open recalls and has happened twice in last week.
I was hit head-on by a driver travelling in the opposite lane who went over a median on a 45 mph city street. i had a split second to start braking but the other driver did not even attempt to stop. none of the airbags in the van deployed. i was injured and the van had extensive front end damage.
The car simplywont start. check engine light turned on, service abs, service esc, parking brake unavailable, power steering unavailable. the power doors dont work. shifter is lockedand the auto park brake was locked. the car wont even shift to neutral so it can be towed.
My 22 month old went out the front door while at a family party. he went to our parked car, pushed the button on the chrysler handle, went to the front seat, locked the car, and turn the car in the acc position which blew out hot air. the car was able to turn on because the keys were left in the car. he tried climbing in the back to push the button to open the door again but because the car was locked it wouldn't open. all he had to do to get in the car was push a button but once the car was locked it was impossible for him to figure out how to get out. having such an easy way for a van door to slide open is a huge safety hazard for small children. i have a video of how easy it was for him to get into the car as well.
Problem first occurred in january 2019. car ran fine the day before and started up fine, while driving it went into limp mode.....took the car to the place we bought it from and they had it towed to victory chrysler in rome ny. they diagnosed it and said it was the electronic throttle control system. it ran fine up until a few days ago when my wife took it to a store and came out about 30 minutes later and it did not start. we left it in the parking lot overnight and tried it the next day and it started right up. on 7/13/19 we went to our sons ball game and after the game it failed to start again. we had to get a ride home and have it towed to our home the next day because all of the dealerships were closed on the weekend. it is now sitting in our driveway!!!!! i bought this to replace my 120,000 mile honda odyssey and it is not reliable. this problem needs to be fixed asap as we have small children and need something reliable.
Have taken vehicle into dealer 3 times for hard shifting, check engine light, and when slowing down at time a hard jerk almost like someone running in the back of the vehicle. they claimed once it was that the oil needed changing and this last time that it had the wrong oil and oil filter ( which the dealer had done). they can never had the jerking issue or the hard shifting issue repeated. also recently it hesitates like no power when hitting the gas. over having it in the shop for 2 days each time and it is still under warranty with under 30,000 miles..
The transmission gets stuck in gear and hits a certain mph and then drops even while pressing the gas. most commonly happens at 15mph and around 45-50mph. then suddenly it lurches into the next gear throwing the car forwards and revving up the mph. the doors open and close randomly. the dvd screens don't work consistently and the keys have to be registered to the car frequently bc they lose their connection.
Stalling stop/start feature
Car jerks while driving and accelerating on the road. the car jerks while in motion city and highway driving. chrysler dealership are unable to fix this issue, they have changed battery and updated software but car is still jerking while in motion.
I just purchased this vehicle on 05/18/2019. twice it has stalled out. one time i was at a stop light, the "start/stop" service light came on and it completely died. the second time we where accelerating at an incline and it started to jerk really bad as if it was missing the gears. then the same service light came on and it stalled again. we pulled over and turned it off for a while. once we started it operated okay again. i have been doing some research and it sounds like this is happening to many of these vehicle. my biggest concern is that it is going to happen in the middle of an intersection and cause an accident. this vehicle has everything i was looking for but i am now terrified to drive it with my family. it has been taken in to be serviced but because there are no error codes stored i am being told there is nothing they can do unless it happens again. hopefully, the next time it happens, we aren't in a more dangerous situation.
When the car is either stopped, in park, or shut off and you open either second row power sliding door it will open 99% of the way and then close on its own. the same is true if you are trying to close the door, it will close almost all the way and then just reopen. sometimes it can take numerous tries before the door opens or closes completely. there are no obstructions, or anything at all in the way that would cause this to happen. i picked a date of june 3rd because you asked for a specific date, but this happens all the time.
Vehicle unexpectantly stalled while in motion.
When accelerating the vehicle often stalls or jerks or does not accelerate as untended. this occurs on freeways and also while turning or accelerating from a complete stop.
The backup sensors suddenly stopped working. as soon as i noticed i went into the settings to check that the sensors were not accidentally turned off, they were still checked as on and active. i backed up several more times coming with an inch of my garage wall and still no sensors/noise/alert or brakes automatically being activated. i took it to the dealership and they corrected the issue. that was 8-10 weeks ago and then today backing my car out of the garage my husband almost hit his own car because the backup sensors failed to work. i checked the settings and once again, the sensors are checked and supposed to be working.
As i was exiting the parking garage, the trunk opened up while the car was being driven. there was a loud noise from the liftgate and the rear windshield was shattered, plus the wiper system broke.
While driving the vehicle at between 25 and 30 mph, the front passenger window went down by itself. about 4 minutes later at the same speed the vehicle shut off completely by itself. i was able to steer it into a parking lot and into a parking space. all power was lost when it shut down and even though it was in drive while i was gliding into the parking space, it was as if the vehicle was in neutral. no power steering, so very hard to steer it. after the vehicle stopped completely, the vehicle locked in place. i put the vehicle in park, instructions came up on the dash that said to press brake and start vehicle. i was able to restart it and continue on my drive. this is not the first time the front passenger window has gone down by itself, but it is the first time the vehicle has completely shut down.
We have had multiple problems with this van and it's only two years old and when i say multiple it's seven and now eight with the air conditioner blowing hot air. this seems to be a problem with this van from my reading. now i have been a loyal chrysler owner and dodge pickup owner since 1990 but this kind of makes me want to switch to another make. a loyal owner for years (xxxx) parts of this document have been redacted to protect personally identifiable information pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).
The fcw doesn't seem to work all the time. the two years that i have owned it it has only activated maybe three times. but what i'm concerned about is the two times i really needed it it worked just the opposite it gave me no brakes and no warning and i had to turn onto the side of the road going around cars and when i replied the brakes they worked. luckily i avoided a crash and there were no obstacles on the side of the road. i have had it in twice for recalls and told them about it, nothing. since it just happened a second time i'm taking it to another dealer i have no confidence in a solution.tho. this van has about 46 minor non safety related problems.also. i had just turned off the freeway and the brakes took the cruise off but when i approached the stopped cars there was no brakes.and no warning to brake.and no car applied braking as required by the fcw system.as it is supposed to stop you.
When driving at various speeds car will stall and then slam into gear and it feels like you have been hit from behind - have had the recall done that was to fix this problem but it is happening again now with more frequency. very scary when it occurs.
Wife was driving the vehicle and it shut off while approaching an intersection. vehicle shut down, gave warning that it must be in park before restarting.
The van jerks and and stalls when shifting gears (especially on low gears). it then suddenly surges.
Rough idle and constant rattling noise at highway speeds coming from the lower passenger side of door. driver's side seat belt area rattling when driving on country roads.
Transmission - when traveling at a low speed as in traffic, accelerating from a red light/stop sign ' when the van is shifting from 1st or 2nd to higher gear, the car jerks and sometimes makes a noise. often times it feels as if the car has been rear ended from behind.
We have had multiple issues with our 2017 chrysler pacifica. the first issue is when we accelerate between 10 and 20 mph our vehicle revs up and jerks really bad. literally feels like you have been rear ended. it is like the gear is slipping or it can't find the next year to go into. another issue we are having is with the drivers side sliding door. i usually have to try to shut it multiple times for it to stay shut. on multiple occasions i have had to hit the button 3-4 times for it to stop popping back open. the last issue is our start/stop feature. it has completely stopped working and it shows a code on the dash. these are all issues we have been dealing with for months.
Takara recall. i went to turn my vehical on and the screen wouldn't. i thought it could be screen off button but it wasn't. i then took my car into my local dealership and they told me the stereo is heating up to 180 degrees. which is a safety hazard and should be happening in a year old car.
After taking my van, into the shop, this morning, for a repeat complaint of hard shifting (feels like i'm being rear-ended), at speeds between 17-20 mph, and driving the service tech around, for 30 minutes, in a failed attempt to try to get the van to replicate the hard shift, while the tech was next to me, my van shifted hard, on my way back into work, while i was in traffic, on the highway. i had stopped at a light, behind several cars, in traffic. i was told, at the shop, that since the tech was not able to experience it, himself, they would not even try to diagnose or figure out the cause, at this point in time. i asked them if they could check the transmission valve body. they said they easily could but did not, at this time, because they've not felt the hard-shift themselves. i gave the shop the name of another customer who has experienced the same problem, with her van, in troy, michigan, was given the same 'updates,' for her van, at suburban chrysler dodge jeep ram of troy that were suppose to fix the problem (but did not) and gave them the solution (transmission valve body replacement) she stated had fixed, for now (her van was fixed in july'18 and hasn't experienced a hard-shift since) her issue. i gave them the name and number of the dealership that had serviced her car. they did not want the information and told me they work through chrysler only. chrysler knows the problem exists, as the lady who told me about the transmission valve body got that solution from a friend, of hers, who works at chrysler corporate.
In july i took my vehicle in for down shifting issues and the couldn't find a problem when running a system check. problem continued and 2 weeks ago took it in again for shifting issues. now experience suspension popping a noisy sound. i'm tired of having a brand new vehicle with under 30,000 miles having so many problems. what is the solution?
My van will jerk, violently, while i'm trying to accelerate. when i say "violently," i mean when it jerks, it feels like i've been rear-ended. it happens when i come to a complete stop and then try to accelerate. it happens when i'm driving under twenty miles an hour and then try to accelerate. it happened so violently, a while back, that the van seemed to stall and i was almost rear-ended, by a pick-up truck, when i pulled out onto a highway. this prompted me to take it to the shop on october 29th. they kept it until november 2nd. they updated the computer's program and said that seemed to fix the issue. however, it is now jerking again. it happened twice, yesterday, as i was turning and then tried to accelerate. it then happened once, today, as i was driving under 20 miles an hour and tried to accelerate, while pulling out of a school's drive. today, it also started to have a vibration-type feel, while driving, under 20 miles an hour, on a straight way, while trying to accelerate, and then it didn't want to accelerate, at all, after i came to a complete stop, at a red light, and tried to accelerate, as the light turned green. i have a an appointment, at 9:00 am, next monday (11-19-18), where they're wanting me to drive them around in order to try to get these same issues to happen, while they're in the van, with me. there is no rhyme or reason as to when these incidents happen and i'm not certain i will be able to get them to happen while the technicians are in the van, with me. meanwhile, i'm driving around worried about getting hit, from behind, if/when my van violently jerks or decides to stall. this is my family vehicle. i drive my 10 and 7 year old sons in this. as of right now, they ride in the middle seats, as i'm fearful of being rear-ended and don't want them in the third-row back seat.
Car was moving. engine shut off. rolled 20 feet. engine them restarted. stop/start function not working properly. went to the dealer, their solution to the problem was to stop using the auto start/stop function.
I started having problems about 1 1/2 years into ownership. the car started to shift hard. sometimes when it would shift it would feel like i was being rear ended. i brought it to the dealer several times and i was told each time they could not duplicate the problem. several times i would be parked and shift into drive and press the gas and the car would not move right away. it would hesitate, shift really hard like i was being hit and then the car would move. one day i was stopped at an intersection. when the light turned green i pressed the gas the car started to move. when i got to the middle of the intersection the car went to shift and it felt like i got hit in the rear and the car became unresponsive for a few seconds and slowed down. i lost all control of the car. i tried to press on the gas and nothing happened. then again, it felt like i had gotten hit in the rear and the car started to move. i drove right to the dealer. again i was told they could not duplicate the problem. they kept my car for a month. they say they replaced the valve body at that point and my car was safe to drive and completely fixed. one week later, i was parked at a store. i went to start my car and it would not start. the steering wheel was locked and the brakes were locked, the car would not start. i had battery power, but the car would not start, i had it towed to the dealer. they said a ground wire came loose, and my car was fixed and safe to drive. that night my family was going on a long drive. ten minutes into the trip, while driving on a main road, we lost all control of the car without any warning. the car just stopped in the middle of driving. the steering wheel locked, the brakes locked and the car would not start. i had my kids in the car for this. this car is not safe. the car just shuts down while driving with no warning. this car is a hazard and unsafe to drive.
While driving my chrysler pacifica limited 2017,i heard a jerking sound inside the car ,then a series of loud noises,i noticed ther is no connection between steering and whhel, car dragged to the curb, hit the curb and stopped,on examination i noticed front right wheel has come out half way, noticed some kind of metal come through the wheel rim, incident happened infront of school after i pick up my kids, car was driving at 10-20 mile per hour, *dt*jb
In a shopping center parking lot, rolling forward at 10 miles per hour. my foot was not on the brake or the accelerator. suddenly, the car accelerated over 1 second up to about 20 miles per hour. the acceleration was so rapid and sudden that i thought that i had been rear-ended. the vehicle slowed when i applied the break. the car then did it several more times over a few days period. i have taken the vehicle to the dealer, and they say that the car's computer has generated multiple errors, but they are unable to interpret the errors. the vehicle has been at the dealer for a week, with no success in diagnosing the problem or the fix.
The van shifts very hard and jerks forward when accelerating from a stop at either a stop sign or red light. the hard shift and jerking forward has almost caused me to rear end the vehicle in front a couple of times now.
Vehicle was being driven on city streets less then 30 mph and engine and vehicle management system shut down causing no ability to steer vehicle safely. vehicle came to a stop, needed to be turned to the off position and restarted after attempting a few times. the vehicle then was able to drive on.
Rear door and side doors open up while driving. van stalls and sputters when taking off. when driving and turning the wheel to the right or left the steering wheel vibrates. it does not feel like the wheel is rubbing in the wheel well.
Engine stalling when idle or during take off but quickly restarts when putting it in park. at times it goes directly to park on its own after shutting down. recently the vehicle lost power while driving around 50 mph. i coasted to the stop light put it in park and it restarted. loosing power completely after stalling but after a few minutes of waiting it restarts. shift service warning appears but resets before taking it to dealer. often shift indicator lights don't work but will after the car restarts hours later. windows go down on their own while driving.
Drivers side sliding door keeps opening/closing on its own - acts as if something is caught in the chain that operates the door. started shortly after purchase in may of 2017, has happened on numerous occasions and is now occurring more frequently. original dealer inspected the door but could not find problem - they suggested that someone may have turned the slide mechanism off on the overhead control. it is happening both when driving & when parked. while driving an alert appeared on the dash with message "to operate sliding door shift to park" - display says contact roadside assistance/uconnect/chrysler vehicle care. message appeared once on the interstate, although door did not open. it appeared another time while driving down a steep driveway - this time door did slide open. driver was the only one in van at the time. when stationary, door will open & close itself repeatedly - have had to push door all the way open or closed. the door did not sense that there was an obstruction, had to forcefully push door open. took van to different dealer - they tried to recreate problem but could not. dealer reviewed message history but on-board computer did not show the "to operate sliding door shift to park" message. dealer suggested we may have been pressing door button on key fob accidentally - however this has occurred several times when it was not likely that that was the case. have contacted chrysler several times regarding this problem, but have not been able to resolve. have photos of messages on dash and on display, and video of door opening while in motion. *dt consumer stated door opening and closing on its own. updated 10/11/18*jb
I have had multiple electrical problems with my 2017 pacifica that began roughly one year into my 39 month lease (currently 22 months in). the auto start/stop indicator and a message saying the hood is open when it's not repeatedly shows on the dash when driving and when stationary. these issues were supposedly "fixed" twice now with a third appointment in a few weeks (takes forever to get in to the dealer and i'm fed up with having to rent a vehicle while the dealer "fixes" the problem). also, the car has stalled at least 10 times in the past year, most recently yesterday, which requires me to shift to park and restart the vehicle. this too was supposedly "fixed" each time the dealer had it in the service dept. i was very lucky that the car was sitting idle at a red light or stop sign during each of these occurrences. i would hate to think of what could happen if i was driving at any rate of speed and the vehicle stalled. additionally, the battery indicator has come on twice now in the past two days, which suggests the battery isn't charging right. however, i checked the battery via the vehicle information section on the dash and the battery is running appropriately. i will continue to monitor that as well and have the dealer check it at the appointment in a few weeks. with all of that being said, these problems should not be occurring in a vehicle that is not even two years old! these are safety concerns that have the potential to cause serious harm to the driver/passenger of the pacifica as well as innocent bystanders. it is noteworthy that i currently have 21k miles on the vehicle. these issues began around the 12k mile mark.
When just starting to drive from a stopped position the car will make a lurch and there is usually a noise with that lurch. this occurs wherever and often when just starting to drive from a stopped position.
