We have classified the 60 complaints from 2017 Chrysler Pacifica about VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL into the following categories.
When passing a farm tractor car went in to the passing gear and then there was no accelartion would not shift into any gear could not shut car off after awhile side doors wouldn't open after about 2 hours car finally started and went back to normal
While driving approximately 65mph on the highway, all of the lights on the dash came on and the car started to slow down even though i had the cruise control set. i tried to press the accelerator and the car would not speed up. i pulled over and turned the dial to park but the p did not light up. while in park the car was jerking forward and i could not set the parking brake. i turned it off at that point and tried to turn it back on to solve the problem. the problem has not yet been solved.
Hesitation when i turn and try to accelerate. i thought it was my gas but i'm seeing there was a recall on some 2017 for this problem. mine has done this several times when i turn. it has only happened on the city streets while in motion. almost like it wants to stall out then a small few small jerks and then takes off. i just bought this van in march 2019 from westgate jeff wyler. there was no recalls for this van but i'm having the same problem they recalled on other 2017 pacifica. it's done this several times
I took my vehicle in for an oil change and work up on september 19, 2019. i was reporting rough transmission when switching gears but other than that everything was fine. they ran updates on my cruise control and the like and off we went. the following day i was driving in a flat area out of state with my cruise control set at 70. i was pulled over for a speeding ticket where the deputy reported i was going not 70 but 84 mph!! in the course of the 13 hour drive we noticed that the transmission was still rough and the engine was revving for no apparent reason. upon returning home, on september 24th, i was taking my daughter to a doctors appointment where i was again stopped for speeding. the trooper said i was going 55 in a 45 when i again had my cruise control set. i am now thinking the first ticket was a warning and not a fluke so i parked my van until my husband was able to follow me home to make sure everything was working properly. on the drive home, again a level surface, i had the cruise control set and noticed the van had accelerated to 55 mph! i have caught it on one other occasion at 10-12 mph over where the cruise was set and managed to get a picture of the dash were it can clearly be seen the engine is revving and the cruise control does not match the speedometer.
I was turning at an intersection and my pacifica stalled and would not go until i slammed on the gas because a car was coming and i almost got hit. it's very unsafe for my kids to be in the van if it's going to stall when turning.
2017 chrysler pacifica. consumer writes in regards to defective cruise control feature. *ld the consumer stated the forward collision avoidance system was inoperable. *js
When accelerating the vehicle often stalls or jerks or does not accelerate as untended. this occurs on freeways and also while turning or accelerating from a complete stop.
Tl* the contact owns a 2017 chrysler pacifica. while reversing, the vehicle spontaneously accelerated and crashed into another vehicle. in turn, the other vehicle crashed into two additional vehicles. there were no warning indicators illuminated. the air bags did not deploy. there were no injuries and a police report was filed. the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, but the cause of the failure was not determined. the dealer and manufacturer were not contacted. the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. the failure mileage was 12,496.
Upon a start from a start, the car bucks between the speeds of 14-17 mph while accelerating. the reaction from the car feels like the car was hit from behind. it is random and i not been able to correlate the action with any particular driving characteristic such as a slow or fast start. the car has about 30,000 miles as of this writing and has about 25,000 as of the date of first occurrence.
While operating the vehicle - car unexpectedly accelerated! i quickly reacted and brought a car to a complete stop. gas pedal broke off. police and auto-insurer were notified. police officer stated that broken gas pedal while driving = severe manufacturing defect; and that i am very lucky to come out alive. no one wants to bother with the repair ' now returning this defective product to a loan-lender requesting terminate lease due to a car defect. leasing agent'notified, doesn't respond. dealership'refused to accept, each time i call ' requests to deal with manufacturer. chrysler ' manufacturer-was notified; case was opened = in 2 hrs-matter escalated to the highest department supposedly, and that i would be contacted. my numerous and continues attempts for 2 months = customer care said repeatedly that, as to my particular case, they are instructed to only take my messages; would not transfer to any of the supervisors and declined providing any info. i've been repeatedly told that my case is with a special investigation unit; as i must wait for their call. at each call i'm denied any information or help as to that special investigation unit's address, name of the department, last name of the assigned agent, his title, phone number, contact info, everything literally. lately, they've been simply hanging up on me. one time one rep said that legal department is holding the process. they reconfirmed-all my messages were delivered and accepted by my assigned case manager, who called our home once - may 9th w/out leaving a message. when i called displayed 586-274-8000 as chrystler grp, it said 'old chrysler non-working number'. auto-insurer requires full coverage regardless of a defect. auto-policy adjuster ' can not repair for it's manufacturing defect. loan-lender demands payments, knows defect, says 'doesn't care' and not helping to get through to chrysler.
The fcw doesn't seem to work all the time. the two years that i have owned it it has only activated maybe three times. but what i'm concerned about is the two times i really needed it it worked just the opposite it gave me no brakes and no warning and i had to turn onto the side of the road going around cars and when i replied the brakes they worked. luckily i avoided a crash and there were no obstacles on the side of the road. i have had it in twice for recalls and told them about it, nothing. since it just happened a second time i'm taking it to another dealer i have no confidence in a solution.tho. this van has about 46 minor non safety related problems.also. i had just turned off the freeway and the brakes took the cruise off but when i approached the stopped cars there was no brakes.and no warning to brake.and no car applied braking as required by the fcw system.as it is supposed to stop you.
Our pacifica roughly jolts forward when accelerating to about 15mph just after being stopped. it feels like being hit hard from behind. it has been an ongoing issue for over 9 months now. i have young children in the car and it is very scary.
This is my second, possibly third time reporting a significant problem with this van. i have lost power while trying to accelerate multiple times. today i lost power while accelerating, the vehicle revved and rpm went up to about 6000, no power was going to the engine and i was unable to accelerate, then full power went to engine and the van lunged forward and gained speed. the acc cruise control light also went on. i did not lose power steering and i am not sure if the engine turned off. due to so many problems occurring while driving, i frequently record my drives- i was able to capture this on video. the video only shows my dash and does not do it justice, but shows the rpm, vehicle speed slowing, and then accelerating. i have a few more videos with similar problems, but this is one of the few that i was able to capture. my children are afraid of riding in this car, we have has issue after issue and simply want to be safe while driving.
When accelerating the van jerks then picks up more speed. sometimes when pressing the gas pedal from park it takes a while to start moving. the shifter gets suck and the doesnt get off the emergency brake.
In a shopping center parking lot, rolling forward at 10 miles per hour. my foot was not on the brake or the accelerator. suddenly, the car accelerated over 1 second up to about 20 miles per hour. the acceleration was so rapid and sudden that i thought that i had been rear-ended. the vehicle slowed when i applied the break. the car then did it several more times over a few days period. i have taken the vehicle to the dealer, and they say that the car's computer has generated multiple errors, but they are unable to interpret the errors. the vehicle has been at the dealer for a week, with no success in diagnosing the problem or the fix.
When driving the vehicle and turning a corner from a low speed (<20mph) or accelerating around a corner from a stop, the vehicle has lost power and the engine just revs as if in neutral. the vehicle has to be placed into parked and restarted to begin driving again. this has happened approximately 4 times in the last year and a half with less than 24,000 miles on the vehicle. the vehicle also jerks when accelerating at times, usually around 15 mph. sometimes it jerks like it has been hit in the rear. we've taken it in multiple times to the shop and they have replaced a valve body related to the transmission, but continue to still have issues.
I have experienced repeated and worsening problems with my pacifica shifting very roughly and multiple speeds, to the point where the car jerks and acceleration stalls. i have taken the car in multiple times to the factory dealer and they said the computer is not capturing any error codes, and they can't replicate the issue. this car has had multiple issues starting the day i bought it, and i think the car is just a lemon...would never buy another chrysler product again! *dt updated 10/18/18*jb
We have a 2017 chrysler pacifica tourling l-plus that had a recent software update, all recalls have been completed. the van fully stalled while accelerated in the highway between 30-40 miles per hour, for about 5 seconds before re-engaging into gear. it did not feel like it was in between gears when it stalled- as far as we could tell, the engine still had power but temporarily stopped accelerating.
While on cruise control going down some hills the vehicle accelerates to downshift and then slowly comes back down and then jerks into set cruise speed. have had it where i could not turn the cruise off when the button was pressed. it can be scary, it should not accelerate to slow down. took it to the dealer but they said there was no fix unless enough people complained about it to chrysler. just bought the vehicle and it has been doing it from day one.
The 2017 chrysler pacifica touring plus with all the latest known software recalls up to date as of 8/22/2018 experienced a full stall while under wide open throttle and attempting to enter a highway on ramp. the stall seemed like a transmission lag, shifting delay or lack of response. the engine from 0-20 mph had plenty of power (rpm's); then when switching gears it seems the power was cut for a full 3-5 seconds while the transmission made a shift and only after letting off the accelerator (even though there were 0 rpms) did it finally kick into motion again and pull out of the stall. the systems auto stop was disabled via the override button on the dashboard when this occurred and the gas tank was 40% full.
Tl* the contact owns a 2017 chrysler pacifica. while driving between 25-50 mph with the cruise control activated and traveling up an incline, the revolutions per minute increased extremely high. additionally, the gears failed to shift and suddenly downshifted. there were no warning indicators illuminated. the vehicle was taken to the local dealer (brighton chrysler dodge jeep ram, 9827 e grand river ave., brighton, mi 48116, (810) 229-4100) where the vehicle was awaiting to be diagnosed and repaired. the manufacturer was notified of the failure and provided case number: [xxx]. the failure mileage was 18,000. *tt information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6). *tt
While pulling up to garage vehicle unexpectedly accelerated causing vehicle to hit the brick wall between my two garages causing $2500 worth of damage.
Tl* the contact owns a 2017 chrysler pacifica. the contact received notification of nhtsa campaign number: 18v332000 (electrical system, vehicle speed control). the vehicle was repaired by griffin chrysler dodge jeep ram (961 e u.s. hwy 74, hamlet, nc 28345, 910-582-1200). however, when the cruise control was set at 58 mph, the vehicle accelerated to 70 mph without warning. the contact depressed the brake pedal to disengage the cruise control. the vehicle was taken back to the same dealer and the technician was able to duplicate the failure. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure and stated that the cruise control operated properly on an incline. the failure was not remedied. the failure mileage was approximately 20,000.
Issue 1: adaptive cruise control many times unintentionally accelerates even if it is very clear the front vehicle is slowing down calmly or even stopping; until it is too close the car itself activates emergency auto braking but for a second acceleration being still on before it deactivates (usually acc does this calmly and safely). in some cases i had to do emergency braking since it misses the detection of car infront of you; it will be also very hard to do at a time if car just starts to do very high acceleration. second issue is that a stationary vehicle is detected or not detected with 50/50 success. third issue is autobraking , as seen in issue 1, even in normal driving there is no guarantee it will brake; i had several incidents to have emergency brake myself. fourth issue: when car stops at a certain angle downhill wheels partially turned right. then immediately if tries to join a main road to the right, but slightly uphill, the car stalls for a 3-5 sec, before it accelerates. this makes it unsafe if there is heavy traffic and joining the road. the dates are multiple so i will put the last incident date here. *tt *tr
Three separate but related incidents: (1) when driving down a neighborhood street at under 30 mph the van suddenly lost the ability to go forward. pushing the gas pedal to the floor resulted in nothing. since the van was going uphill, it began to decelerate at a slow pace. after a few seconds, the van regained the ability to move forward normally. (2) the van was stopped waiting to turn left. upon pressing the gas forward and moving out into traffic, the van lost it's ability to move forward about halfway through the turn. in addition, a "thud" could be felt that felt like the van had been hit from behind. however, nothing hit the van. the loss of acceleration exposed to oncoming traffic. in 3 to 5 seconds, the van regained normal ability. (3) when driving down a busy street in traffic at around 20mph, the van lost the ability to move forward and a "thud" was felt as if the van had been hit. again, it hadn't been hit. after 3-5 seconds, the van regained the ability to drive forward. our suspicion of the cause has been the transmission. this is due to the "thud" feeling and the loss of moving forward. however, on two separate trips to the dealer, the cause has been diagnosed as "abs module in plant mode". the abs module has been replaced but it does not fix the problem. it does not feel like the van is trying to brake on its own as the deceleration in speed is extremely gradual. rather, it feels like a loss of ability to propel/accelerate forward. the van is extremely unsafe to drive as you never know when you will lose the ability to move forward (and thus out of harm's way). these three incidents have occured in less than 150 miles of driving over the past 3 weeks ending 5/30/2018.
The van accelerated on me cause a crash in my garage. i was pulling into the garage and all of a sudden the van took off by itself and crashed into the the bench that supports the hot water heater for the house.
At a stop light in the turn lane i lifted my foot off the brake to drive as the light turned green. i hit the gas and nothing happened. i looked and the screen said to put the car in park. i put the car in park and then the screen said that i needed to stop/start restart the car. i turned the car off and tried turning it back on. there was a clicking noise, the engine would not start but everything else powered back on. i did this a couple of times and every time i tried starting the car there was just clicking and it would not start. i turned the car off again, opened the car door so that everything would power off. i then closed the door and it started back up.
We have had this van for a year and it's only got 6800 miles on it. during the last few months i have noted while using the cruise control that it will accelerate from the set point without being reset and it does it as if i had set it much higher. it shifts down and accelerates moderately hard. i note the current recall that the cc cannot be canceled and i can cancel this unwarranted acceleration without a problem. i will also take the van in for the current recall, just in case. this acceleration problem just came up in the last couple of months and has happened a total of about 4 times now.
While idling at a light and pressing pedal to go. my 2017 chrysler pacifica failed. lights started. flashing in dust cycling through check abs, check tire pressure, etc... car was in drive and was rolling backwards with breaks and steering not working. this resulted in an accident rolling into the vechical behind us. the nice individual the we crashed into was able to catch the failure on his dash cam. we have brought in the van on other occasions to have it looked at for transmission wanting to launch forward when going from idle. they still can not figure it out and told use no record in service reports with other having any problems. after a 10 second search we found others have had similar problems with same make and model. these. can be found on consumers reports. with. out a guarantee the breaks and steering will not go out again i do not want the car back. i. just. want my money back. the sell this thing as a safe family vehicle, but loosing breaks and steering is not what i want my family in. they still can not figure out way it happens.
On may 9, 2018 i shifted from park to drive, with my foot on the brake, while my 10 year old son was getting into the van. the door automatically closed, he panicked as he saw it closing and tried to jump out- the door closed on him and he was stuck for 30 seconds to 1 minute. the door was not responsive to opening by pushing the button and finally re-opened when i put it back in park. it left a bruise on his arm for approximately 10 days, he was not injured. chrysler investigated the incident but could not replicate the problem. in addition, the van will hard knock/shift, usually at low speeds and has stalled out while attempting to accelerate in traffic multiple times. this is a major safety concern. this started happening after it was taken in to get the safety recall transmission update. chrysler cannot replicate this problem and has no stored data in the computer showing problems have occurred. i am deeply concerned with these issues and the safety of my vehicle. while i am satisfied with the level of concern and response chrysler provided due to the door incident, i think there are many improvements that need to be made to make this vehicle safer. i have owned multiple vans and can say that the mechanical doors on this van are very slow to react to objects in the way of closing and will close very hard before re-opening. the shifting issue is very, very concerning and chrysler's lack of concern regarding the issue is even more concerning.
Engine shuts off and prompts to put car into park to restart while driving
The option to stop engine at a light or stop sign does not work at least 1/2 of the time. the engine revs up and wants to push us into traffic.
On thursday feb. 15, 2018 in harlingen, tx i entered the expressway then planned to immediately get off as this bypasses a twisty frontage road. when we (my wife and another couple) got to the top of the ramp and on the exit lane, we could see that down the expressway there was an accident and all three lanes were filled with stopped traffic. as we approached the exit, the car suddenly started to accelerate at a rapid rate. i applied the brake and it would not work. i tried several times to try to stop the car, but couldn't. it continued to rapidly accelerate. we went from 20 mph to very fast in a matter of feet. we had nowhere to go. we hit a tan car on the left back side which in turn flipped our car. it rolled several times then came to a stop on its left side up against the cement barrier. the car filled with a toxic smoke. it turned out to be what was in the air bags. we could hear people outside trying to break the windshield to get us out, but it wouldn't break. several men reached up and held the door open which was on top now. they reached in and pulled my wife out. she was ok. the men opened the back hatch and got the rest out that way. we were taken to the hospital by ambulance. i refused treatment as i was fine. my wife was in a head brace as she said my neck was a bit sore. it turned out that she had a cervical strain and some bruising on her leg, arm and stomach. our friend had some chest contusions, but was ok. his wife however, was in a lot of pain. her stomach was swelling and she had bruising from the seat belt. she also had a compressed # l12 vertebrae. she was admitted and spent the night in the icu. the next day her husband said she was still in a lot of pain, but was out of the icu. she was released from the hospital wed. feb. 21, 2018 to await placement in a rehab hospital. ...
On long trips (generally greater than1 hour) the acc/fcw (adaptive cruise control/front collision warning system) system fails intermittantly (with or without the cruise actually being active) and the dash displays "acc/fcw unavailable service required". once having failed, the system cannot be reset while continuing to drive, but turning the engine off and restarting will reset it. losing these system presents a safety hazard as the fcw is not only a warning system but can actually stop the car in an emergency setting. losing the acc (adaptive cruise control) actually means losing all cruise control, which is not only annoying but can easily lead to exceeding speed limits and/or constantly checking the speedometer setting resulting in reduced driver situational awareness. the biggest problem is that the failure throws no codes that code readers at autozone or chrysler can see and chrysler service says there is no fix without a code. inability to diagnose and fix this important enhanced safety system is a safety failure at chrysler. note that the failure has occurred in a variety of situations--day/night/sun/rain/cloud/snow/dirty/clean/fast/slow.
Brand new... owned less than a month... 750 miles...we live at the top of a very steep hill with a sharp curve at the bottom. i reversed out of my driveway onto the street and shifted the van into drive. i felt the car go into gear and i started rolling down the hill, as it's a steep incline you pick up speed quickly. as the van gained speed down the hill something felt "wrong" and i suddenly realized i wasn't in full control of the vehicle. with the sharp curve quickly approaching i stomped the brake and brought the van to a stop. i put the van in park at the bottom of the hill and tried understand what was going on. i put the van back in drive, felt it go into gear but when i tried to accelerate nothing happened. put in it reverse, felt it go into gear and it started to go backwards a little herky jerky but when i pressed the accelerator nothing happened. i had to put it back in park, turn it off and then restart it before it i could drive it back up to my house. i took it to the dealership the next morning. turns out it was the day after the dealer received notice of the recall. i was told my vin number fell under the recall, my pcm needed new software and they couldn't do anything until chrysler provided the fix which wasn't expected until april and they couldn't even sell the ones on the lot. call chrysler! i have called chrysler almost everyday for the last 2 weeks and all i get is a "sorry but i can't do anything, waiting to hear from the regional supervisor". i live in atlanta and if that happened on i-285 (5-6 lanes) you would be roadkill! there is absolutely no way in hell you could stop the car, put it in park, stop the engine and then restart safely. at this point it's a $32k rolling death trap that chrysler won't/can't deal with... 100% unsafe for my wife and 3 kids!
2017 pacifica continues after multiple attempts to repair to drop/slip out of gear while driving with no warning and then suddenly thrusts back into gear causing the entire car to jerk forward as though we have been hit from behind. these issues happen under 20mph and there is no way to control what is happening. our necks are forced forward and the sudden shock of the movement forward is not possible to stop. the problem began in december of 2017 and after 4-5 visits to the service i still have no resolution 2 years later.
I was driving in a neighborhood area approaching my community service event at a boys and girls club. searching for street parking, i was about to slow down releasing my accelerator pedal and suddenly the car stalls. i safely steer to the right and make a stop in attempt to move out of the way in a busy street. the screen on my car instructs me to put my gear back to park in order to continue, i shift it to park as it says on the screen and the screen instruction remains the same. the start button light is indicating that my car is still on so i shift my gear to drive and stepped on my accelerator pedal. the engine revs, but it does not move. i put my gear back to park and pushed the button to turn the engine off. then i push the start button again to turn it back on. this time i shift it to drive and i am finally able to drive forward. i was stuck in the stalled position for a few minutes in a panic trying to figure out what was going on. imagine if this happened on a freeway or a very busy major street. it would be very dangerous to me and my family as well as other drivers around. i demand a safety recall for the safety of my family and others. *bf updated 8/16/18*jb
While driving in the mountains with cruise control on. driving down hill the vehicle accelerates to downshift. as if flooring the gas to make the car downshift. i must turn off cruise control and take control of the accelerator. the problem also occurs while cruise control is off but not as often. come drive it with me and it will happen to you. otherwise i love this car but these situations are scary. this is highway driving on i 70 or 285.
This happened on 2 different occasions. on one occasion we were stopping on a red light and when we wanted to accelerate again on a green light the vehicle stalled and engine was about to turn off but did not. on another occasion the vehicle accelerated ok but shortly after it started stalling for few seconds and decelerated significantly before gaining speed again. it took more than 5 seconds to gain speed and accelerate again.
Date of incident 11/29/2017: we have a 2017 chrysler pacific with 17,000 miles. while pulling into a parking spot the vehicle accelerated on its own, causing a minor collision. chrysler dealership did a scan and found no error codes. *bf updated 8/16/18*jb
On 4 occasions i lost ability to accelerate. i push on the gas and the car won't go. it just stops or stalls. the power is on but car won't go. i seem to lose some power steering. twice this was while making a left turn with traffic coming toward me on a busy street. i was stalled in the middle of the road . finally the van began to work again and shot me forward abruptly. today 11/27/17 i brought it to chrysler dealership. they are telling me a software update will fix it but i'm skeptical and afraid to drive it.
On 11-15-17 my wife was driving our 2017 pacifica, when she was parking (pulling in) it suddenly accelerated and hit a pole. i had the dealership do a scan code and there were no error codes. i just want to let you know in case there are others reporting the same problem.

Vehicle purchased in december 2016 for $44,000 from safford of fredericksburg. on october 14, 2017, i was driving with my wife, three children and mother-in-law and experienced a loud malfunction that rendered the car inoperable. luckily we were not on the highway at the time and the vehicle was eventually towed to safford of fredericksburg, virginia for repairs. the right front axel had ruptured (total miles on the car were 8,311 at that time). the service agent (jim bogan) noted that this had been flagged on other occasions as identified issues at other service department requiring the next "generation" of axel assembly parts for the repair. shortly after receiving the vehicle, we returned to the same dealership to address a loud girding noise also associated with the right front axel. in early december, 2017 we had the vehicle towed once again to safford of fredericksburg where they again had to repair the right from axel. intermittently and over the past year while these issues were occurring, we continued to experience electronic issues with the sliding doors and rear lift hatch as well. the uconnect entertainment system will also malfunction from time to time. several software updates have been initiated, addressing window and transmission concerns according to the dealership's service department. yet, the vehicle does not function properly, where idle and transmission functioning often appears compromised (rough idle, rough shifting, sudden rpm increases and acceleration bursts when shifting from reverse to drive). i fear this car is not safe for my wife and three young children.
Tl* the contact owns a 2017 chrysler pacifica touring. while attempting to accelerate from a stop, the vehicle failed to accelerate. the throttle and service engine warning indicators illuminated. the contact also mentioned that the vehicle would stall in the middle of the roadway with the same indicators illuminated. the contact would have to pull the vehicle over, turn the engine off, and attempt to exit the vehicle due to a message that read "key fob not detected". the contact stated that this was a handicap adaptive vehicle, so she would have to open the ramp door to exit the vehicle in traffic. when the contact re-entered the vehicle, she had to depress the brake pedal to restart the vehicle to operate it correctly. the vehicle was taken to mobility works, the independent mechanic that made the adaptation to the vehicle, but the failure was unable to be diagnosed. the vehicle was not taken to a dealer for diagnostic testing or repairs. the contact visited reedman toll auto world (1700 east lincoln highway #101, langhorne, pa 19047, (877) 702-7807) and was informed that mobility works would need to diagnose the failure since they performed the adaptive work. the manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. the failure mileage was approximately 200.
On multiple occasions over the past 6 months, this vehicle has lost power, causing the driver to have no ability to steer the vehicle, accelerate, or brake until it comes to a complete stop. this has happened under a range of different circumstances - while driving less than 15 mph in a parking lot and also while driving approximately 25 mph. there are numerous reports of others experiencing the same sudden loss of power on online forums (e.g., pacificaforums.com), and some of these occurrences have been registered at higher speeds. each time we have brought it to a chrysler service center, mechanics have advised that all diagnostic tests do not reveal any issues and efforts at driving the vehicle to replicate the issue similarly come back negative. all others who claim to have experienced similar problems with their pacifica have reported similar negative test results, with no remediation proposed. this is an unacceptable risk. we can be contacted at [xxx]. thank you. information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6). *tr..updated 10/23/17 *bf updated 9/7/18*jb

Last night, while driving approx 40mph, our brand new 2017 pacifica ltd shut down. the engine suddenly, with no warning, just stopped. the dot above the 'd' (for drive) started flashing, and a message flashed: 'shift to p to start.' we came to a stop in the middle of the road. i put it in park and then was able to turn it back on. i had both hands on the wheel, so i never touched the starter button. the key fob was in my purse, which was not moved. thankfully we were not on a highway, so nobody ran into us. i dropped it off at the dealership this morning, and they just told me they cannot recreate the error. we've had it for about 2 weeks, and we've driven it 1500 miles, mostly highway.....updated 11/03/17 *bf updated 11/09/2017*js
The vehicle has 950 miles on it, a rotatory gear shift know, and an electronic parking brake. at home i park the vehicle on a level surface. i do not engage the parking brake when i leave the vehicle. on quite a few occasions when i enter the vehicle and turn on the engine, the parking-brake light comes on and the brake is engaged even though i did not set it. for most occurrences, i can press the parking brake button, and the light will go off and the brake will disengage. however, on some occasions, pressing the brake button gives no response. if i turn the engine off and then back on, the brake then disengages. a few times i have had to turn the engine on and off more than one time to get the brake disengaged. a more series problem with the parking brake is that on several occasions the brake has suddenly come on while i am driving. this has occurred when i have started the engine and driven about 100 feet. it has occurred when i am moving forward and when i am backing up. the brake suddenly engages and brings the vehicle to an abrupt halt. on these occasions pressing the brake button gave no response. i had to turn the engine off and back on. 7/5 i stopped at a pharmacy drive-up window, and put the vehicle into park. after my transaction, i rotated the gear knob to drive, and the parking brake light then went on. i pressed the brake button multiple times, and the light would not go out. i then turned the engine off and back on. (to do this i had to have pressure on the brake pedal.) when i turned the engine back on the vehicle took off at significant speed, and i crashed into a street light pole. when a tow truck came to get the vehicle the truck operator found that the vehicle gear knob was in the park gear. he had a good deal of difficulty in getting the vehicle into neutral gear for the towing process. have pictures upon request. .....updated 11/03/17 *bf ..updated 11/13/2017*js ...updated 11/17/17 *bf *js *tr
