Problems with 2007 Toyota Camry VISIBILITY/WIPER

On average, the 2007 Toyota Camry starts to “feel” problems with the VISIBILITY/WIPER and its various aspects after 96 698 miles.

Recently reported VISIBILITY/WIPER problems on 2007 Toyota Camry

The melting dashboard which causes a shine which reflects into drivers vision is a danger!!!! the fact that toyota allows this to go on, and does not remedy it for those that (for whatever reason) missed the notices sent out is a disgrace, and a danger to not only the driver, but everyone on the road!! how many people are still driving cars with this issue?? these are accidents just waiting to happen! my mother's car dashboard did not begin to "melt" until after the notices were sent, so she didn't think there was an issue with hers....surprise!!! it has now been going on for about 3 years or more. toyota only wants customer to pay for repair out of pocket. this will be the last toyota in our family!

Sun visor (passenger side) has rotated slowly downward blocking my view of the road. apparently the spring tension mechanism failed causing the visor to hang downward obstructing my view of the road. note: the sun visor and sun visor bracket was previously involved in a toyota warranty enhancement notice involving this same vehicle.

The sun visor dropped, blinding my sight while driving. this is dangerous and a clear safety issue. toyota had previously issued a warranty enhancement, but had said at the time that if the issue has not yet appeared, we should not do anything. now that the warranty enhancement period has expired, they are not prepared to do anything. this is a clear safety concern. a recall is warranted. not only is visibility severely impaired while driving, but also removing the visor exposes the driver to strong sun glares that make it difficult to drive safely.

Passenger visor not working

I bought my 2007 camry in 2006 and it has been great till the last 6 months when the dash board started to get sticky and is now fully sticky and glossy to the point where the sun reflects off it and is blinding. toyota said they had a recall which i was never notified. the address when i bought my car is the same in my driver's license and i never changed it. i live in buena park since 1991 and my drivers license has that address since i was 18 (18 years ago). i called toyota and they said the recall needed and its. ot their concern. i find it irresponsible that toyota takes no action for faulty manufacturing of their products and shifts the fault to the consumer when i had no idea there was any issues. secondly when they had the gas pedal recall i took my car in for maintenance and when i got it back they cut the pedal without my knowledge and said a replacement was on back order. i have since 2010 requested the replacement till 2011 and they always said it in back order. i gave up asking because i got excuses. when i'm driving my foot slips off the gas pedal because its shorter. its hazardous when your making a turn and the car loses acceleration and you have to quickly hit the gas again. this is dangerous when the road is slippery in a front wheel drive. i have contacted toyota with these concerns and all they say is that there isnt anything they can do.

I purchased this car brand new from the dealer who registered it and gave me paperwork listing my address on all of the forms. i just recently found out that there was an extended warranty program for the driver side visor defect. i had been having issues with it for a few years but since i rarely drive during the daytime it wasn't an issue until my shift changed. so now it's broken and today, years later, toyota tells me that the warranty information was sent to an address other than the one i have lived since i purchased this car. since i didn't register the car and all of my paperwork had my then and still address on it, i feel that they should honor the warranty because they sent it to an address that wasn't mine. they will not give me the address but referred me to my state' dmv, who also will not give me this phantom address where my info was sent. colonial toyota registered the car for me so i have no idea what mistakes were made in the registration process and no way of getting the information. toyota is doing what all big companies do, pass the mistakes they made to the consumer. i will never purchase anything from atoyota dealer ever again.

The dashboard has become extremely sticky, causing a severe reflection on my driver's side windshield. i contacted toyota, they said the warranty for this has expired. case #[xxx] information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6). *tt

Ii have a 2007 camry that has a defective sun visor as it now hangs and obstructs my visibility. this is a safety hazard and i would expect toyota to honor it and fix it without charge to the consumer.

Takata recall sticky dashboard, can't see with a bad glare

Melting dashboard, sticky shiny and creates glare on windshield that is unsafe.

1. background the vehicle dashboard became "sticky" on or about june 12, 2018. the entire dash is now covered with a glue-like residue. the toyota warranty enhancement program (ze6) covering this problem expired on may 31, 2017. toyota has refused to replace the dash under the warranty program (toyota case #'s 1806131876, 1806210691). 2. safety-related issues a. on warm, sunny days in direct sunlight, the sticky dash has a very bright shine. the shiny dash projects a glossy, textured image of the dash onto the front windshield. this can occur when the vehicle is either stationary or moving. this condition impedes my field of vision and makes it difficult to focus and clearly see the road ahead, other vehicles, and pedestrians. b. during the summer season, interior car temperatures can reach between 130 and 170 degrees. what toxins are being released in the car interior from the interaction of extreme heat, uv radiation, and the glue-like residue? what are the short and long term health risks from inhaling potentially toxic air in a confined space while driving? summary because of the safety issues noted above, my vehicle should be recalled as soon as possible. i strongly believe that i am driving an "unsafe" vehicle that is endangering myself, other vehicles on the road, and pedestrians. no driver should have to drive an unsafe vehicle due to a manufacturer's defect which results in diminished road visibility and potentially interior car toxins. therefore, this is no longer a warranty issue but a serious "safety" issue that needs to be addressed.

The sun visor at driver's side has become detached. it can no longer be held it its position. please see picture attached. toyota had issued a recall on 08/01/2012 (details available at this link: http://media.fixed-ops.com/toy_campaigns/pol12-03.pdf), however, as per toyota, free repair/replacement is only applicable "7 years from the date-of-first-use (regardless of mileage)". i have serviced my toyota at toyota dealership every 5,000 miles from 2012 till date, however, i was neither informed of this recall nor had the item replaced by toyota proactively due to recall issued. hence toyota must not ask me to pay for this repair now.

I had the driver's side sun visor replaced at my own expense because ithe visor was rotating downward and detaching from the ceiling blocking my vision while driving. a little while later i received a "warranty enhancement notice" from toyota about this visor problem. i still had the repair receipt so i mailed it to toyota and they reimbursed me. now it is broken again. it completely falls down with no support what-so-ever and detaches from the ceiling frequently. i have a string with a clothes pin to hold it partially up but my vision is still blocked some and the clothes pin doesn't hold it very long. this should not happen. i have not abused this visor in anyway. i still have the paperwork for the repair and the warranty enhancement notice letter. there is no number on this letter but at the bottom in tiny letters is ztt camry n5e086-00000803-104 if this is any help. i live in a different state now but don't know if this makes any difference.

The dashboard has recently started "melting" and has become sticky and shiny, creating a very distracting glare while driving in the sunlight that obstructs my visibility. although toyota had extended the warranty previously for this problem, i was not having this issue at the time the warranty was offered. when i called them up asking them to replace their defective dashboard, i was told my vehicle was "too old" to qualify and that i would have to pay hundreds (perhaps thousands?!) of dollars out of pocket to fix their own safety hazard. safety hazards caused by toyota's own negligence should not be the customer's financial responsibility to fix!

The melting dashboard is causing tremendous glare from sun causing a safety hazard. toyota is aware and had a voluntary recall, but i did not get the letter. when i found out about the recall, i thought date of first use was when i began driving the car, it is not. the secondary coverage for 10 years after date of first use was 8/3/17. i called toyota on 11/17/17 and they said too late. i went to toyota and called corporate on 5-30-18, but they would do nothing. i use a sunshield and car is mostly garaged, but it is the texas heat causing it, and i can't stop it. i recently saw this problem on the news with nissan and toyota and how dangerous it is. this is why i am not filing this report.

Vinyl dash pad is melting and glazing from sun exposure causing reflection onto windshield causing severe glare obstruction of view.

The dashboard is melting! this is impacting visibility by causing extreme glare so that it's difficult to see other vehicles on the road on sunny days. i contacted toyota and apparently our dealership had the wrong city listed for our address which means we didn't get the service bulletin and now we are outside of the 10 year window because we purchased in nov of 2006. give me a break! this is one of 5 toyota's we currently own and the reason we buy toyota's is because they last. our camry just hit 84k miles and i expect it to last many years to come, but the dashboard is melting! we called toyota today and they said "i'm sorry but you are outside of the window we offered for service" and "i'm sorry your dealership didn't properly update your address when you gave it to them....but you are outside the window". this is ridiculous. how can a melting dashboard not be a manufacturer defect. it's makes visibility difficult due to glare and is a safety issue. ours didn't become a problem until this summer and now we find out the service bulletin is closed. i see online people are waiting years to get replacements....this is just totally ridiculous. the dashboard is defective and toyota is not taking any responsibility here. these cars are built to last decades and to have a service bulletin and not an official recall is just wrong. we never received documentation and the problem became severely worse this summer. we're about a year past the 10 years as we bought our car in nov of 2016. what can we do? this is a significant safety hazard due to the sticky goo that is now my dashboard. you just can't see out the windshield on sunny days, it's a travesty.

Recently purchased (aug 2017) a camry and noticed the dash was sticky and planned to clean it with an adhesive remover; however, it isn't just sticky it has actually melted and become shiny causing a blinding glare on sunny days and when meeting oncoming traffic at night. contacted toyota and the extended warranty ended may 2017 (told me it was illegal for them to help me now). something that was deemed unsafe and needed an extended warranty recall issued is no longer unsafe two months later?

Tl* the contact owns a 2007 toyota camry. while operating the vehicle, the driver side sun visor would fall down and failed to remain in the up position. the failure created a visibility hazard for the driver. the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. the local dealer (west berry toyota in west berry, new york) and the manufacturer were notified of the failure, but no assistance was offered. the failure mileage was 81,000.

The dashboard apears to be melting.because the dash is melting it gives off a glare on the windshield that affect visibility while driving. it has turned into a sticky mess that no store bought cleaner can clear/clean off. i fell this is a safety issue that needs to be addressed as if affect the visibility of the driver.

The driver side sun visor retaining mechanism breaks and the visor drops down and blocks the drivers vision. the driver must manually hold the visor up with one hand to see the road ahead.

Driver & passenger sun visors have either fallen off completely and/or no longer able to stay up and out of way. this has occurred several times throughout the years. we've replaced these visors 2 to 3 times, at least once with dealer. never notified of any recall throughout the years. most recent incident occurred the morning of 7/18/17, when driver side visor suddenly became loose from its upward position and released to an unstable downward position. this sudden obstruction nearly resulted in an accident as the visor blocked the driver's view while the vehicle was in motion. driver was able to avoid a collision, but was required to hold the visor out of the way before being able to pull over and try to maneuver visor upwards to lock in place to no success. driver at that point had to remove visor for safety reasons. passenger visor already fell off earlier on its own and now the driver's side has been removed; vehicle no longer has sun visors. vehicle operator lives in central arizona with consistently "very high" uv index. the loss of visors makes this car difficult to drive during daytime, even with independent eye protection (ie: sunglasses) as well as with he visors' unreliability to remain attached to the car's interior.

The dashboard of my camry is melting and giving off fumes that we can smell and could be hazardous to our health. we have developed a coughs since this happened. the fumes are coating the inside of our windshield and makes it difficult to see. i have contacted toyota usa and toyota japan and they refuse to do anything about it.the vehicle was in motion when we had difficulty seeing through the windshield.

Takata recall..my 2007 toyota camry has developed a shiny sticky coat over several months which covers the entire dash. the shininess obstructs driving visibility and i have found nothing on the market to clean this area. the car originally came from florida and was garage kept when i purchased. seems like some sort of manufacturer defect.

My passenger side sun visor keeps falling down and is impeding my line of sight while driving. the visor will not stay up and replacements seem to also fail per the site listed below. many users report the same issues here: https://www.toyoheadquarters.com/threads/2007-2011-toyota-camry-and-camry-hybrid-sun-visor-warranty-extension-ztt.114/page-6 toyota offered a extended warranty however it expires 7 years after initial purchase date of the vehicle. my vehicle is a 2007 and not covered. this is a safety issue and should be deemed a recall issue.

My dashboard is melting. i contacted toyota and i missed the recall on the dashboard by 23 days. i can't drive car because the reflection of the dashboard causes a glare on windshield. toyota tells me there is nothing they can do.

I bought my car new and i have never had a problem with the dashboard until june 2017. i took it to the toyota dealership becuse i read on the internet that this was a defect with the car. i also never reveived a letter from toyota regarding the dashboard. when i took the car to toyota they said it was sticky and they ordered a new dashboard. i took the car in then got a phonecall from the service department that toyota would not cover the cost because it was after may 2017. now it is becoming a saftey issue becase of the melting it is reflecting on my windshield which is a saftey hazard when i drive the car when the sun is out. toyata corporate told me they make no exceptions. what can i do?

The dashboard is melting in hot sunlight. this creates a very reflective surface that makes it almost impossible to see during a bright sunny day.

Driver side sun visor broke, it was changed by toyota a couple of years ago but now it happened again. they just put the same defective part.

Sticky dashboard. causes visibility hazard due to shiny glare. toyota did not notify ahead of their warranty extension. right toyota dealership did not mention after service visits. toyota will not replace, says it is ,my fault for not knowing ahead of time that my dashboard would one day melt. car has always been garaged and has only 55k miles. shame on toyota.

My driver side visor is down and won't stay up and blocking my view. it's annoying to drive with it to my left side. i called and they said my vin was outside the warranty/recall. so i'm punished because a recall item didn't break when the recall was issued. i think if there's a recall it should be for the life of the car. i should not have to pay for something that was once part of a recall.

I did my monthly detail cleaning and my cloth kept sticking to the dash and i had not even put anything on it yet. now there is a very shinny glare in the windshield and everything i use to wipe sticks and rubs off the texture.

Sun visor at driver side failed to stay close, it just falls down and comes in between clear visibility during evening, cloudy or night driving. tried to contact toyota dealer, they refused about this defect.

The visor began falling while driving on the highway. i tried to put it back up but it was sagging and eventually popped causing to stay down unless i forcibly push it back up. it is a distraction and now cannot go back up with extreme force (which is causing the lining to come apart).

The sunroof in my daughter's 2007 toyota camry exploded. while she was driving, she heard what she described as a "gun shot sound". after noticing small shards of glass in the seat, she pulled over to the side of the road. after exiting the car, she saw that the sunroof had exploded! her mother and i left work to meet here and i could tell instantly that it exploded from the inside, out! luckily, my daughter was ok and able to pull over to the side of the road safely.

Tl* the contact owns a 2007 toyota camry. while driving 40 mph, the service brakes and abs indicators illuminated. the vehicle was taken to headquarter toyota (5895 nw 167th st, hialeah, fl 33015), but the dealer was unable to diagnose the failure. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure and advised the contact to file a complaint. over time, the sun visors detached. the vehicle was taken to south dade toyota (29330 s dixie hwy, homestead, fl 33033), but the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure and provided no information. the contact also stated that the rear windows failed to work. the vehicle was taken back to south dade toyota, but the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure and did not provide any information. the approximate failure mileage was 121,000.

Dashboard melting. sticky oozing every part of dash. glares onto windshield like a mirror and difficult to see out of windshield. cannot touch it w/o getting sticky.

My carmy has had the sticky dash problem for over a year and i finally did some research about it, only to find out that toyota had a warranty program that expired a month go, 31 may 2017. i called them up and they promptly refused to replace my dash. there are still many cars out there that were not fixed adn this problem can cause distracting glare during high heat. can anybody suggest a course of action? maybe potentially suing them to get them to repair more cars?

Tl* the contact owns a 2007 toyota camry. the contact stated that the driver side visor fractured and was hanging. as a result, the contact's visibility was obstructed. the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the failure mileage was approximately 46,000. the vin was not available. updated 09/27/16*lj *cn

Tl* the contact owns a 2007 toyota camry. the contact stated that the dashboard was prematurely deteriorating extensively, which could affect other components. in addition, the vin was included in nhtsa campaign number: 12v491000 (visibility). the contact was to check with the manufacturer to determine when the recall would be provided by an authorized dealer and to determine if there was a solution to replace the dashboard by an authorized dealer. the failure mileage was not available. parts distribution disconnect.

Tl* the contact owns a 2007 toyota camry. the contact received notification of nhtsa campaign number: 16v689000 (visibility). the part needed for the repair was not available. the contact stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. the manufacturer was made aware of the issue. the contact had not experienced a failure. parts distribution disconnect.

Driver's side visor does not snap back in place. droops down and affects vision.

Tl* the contact owns a 2007 toyota camry. the contact recieved notification of nhtsa campaign number: 12v491000 (visibility) however, the part for the repair was unavailable. the contact had not experienced any failures. the manufacturer was not made aware of the issue. parts distribution disconnect.

The dash melts in the heat causing it to become very shiny causing huge areas when the sun shines to reflect onto the windshield. this glare is so bad it's almost impossible to see anything in front of the car other than the reflection of the dash

Own a 2007 toyota camry which was purchased in 2009. took into my dealership to have power window master switch recall. also inquired about my broken driver side visor. was told that visor was not a recall and only covered as an extended service for 7 years from date of first use; therefore not covered. visor will fall down while driving, obstructing view and will not stay attached with clip. this problem did not occur until recently but toyota will not replace it, as it is outside the 7 years from date of first use. i called toyota and asked why the visor was not replaced prior to my purchase. they indicated that if it was not showing signs of problems, they did not replace them. this is very dangerous to have a visor "fall" during driving and obstructing your vision.

The dashboard of the camry becomes tacky and very shiny due to deteriation from sunlight. this shiny finish causes dangerous glare against the windshield while driving. the tackiness prevents the dashboard from being cleaned properly to prevent reflections as well.

Rear window shattered for no reason. can not find or see any place on the window which might have been hit with a stone beebee or paint ball. no obvious point of failure.

Tl* the contact owns a 2007 toyota camry. the contact stated that a popping sound emitted from the driver side sun visor area. the contact noticed that the internal connecting bar fractured. two weeks later, the passenger side sun visor experienced the same failure. the contact mentioned that both sun visors failed to go up. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the vehicle was not repaired. the failure mileage was 100,000. ma 10/15/2015 *cn
