We have classified the 197 complaints from 2007 Toyota Camry about ELECTRICAL SYSTEM into the following categories.
3 different concerns issue #1: while in motion the abs and brake light come on, speedometer goes to 0, other gauges go crazy. happens off and on throughout the day while driving. took it to a mechanic, they said it is the abs module going out, to fix it with a brand new part would be $1800. not only is it dangerous to not be able to see my speed, its a possibility my abs wouldn't kick in if needed. regular brakes work fine.
The brake lights systems and abs lights comes out as i start the car and all gauges stop working, the ac don't work when this happens. i can't tell how fast im going because the speedometer gauge failed to provide the correct reading, the abs control module and emergency warning indicator illuminates on the screen. this happens while i am driving, it does ramdonly and now is more frecuently.
Tl* the contact owns a 2007 toyota camry. the contact stated that the instrument cluster was inoperable. additionally, on one occasion while driving, the brake pedal was depressed and the trunk became ajar. the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. neither the dealer nor the manufacturer were notified of the failures. the approximate failure mileage was 98,000.
I have continuously had issues with my cars ignition coils and vsc system. the check engine light and vsc system light is always on and even though i've spent thousands of od dollars on repairs the light continues to pop up even with regular maintenance and multiple repairs. my car misfires and turns off randomly this is very dangerous to drive but i have no other means of transportation. the car misfires in idle, while driving at low and high speeds and it wont turn on sometimes until i connect jumper cables to the battery. when i connect the jumper cables i never need an extra source of power i simply connect one end of the cables to the battery and a few seconds later it all the lights turn on again and the car restarts the whole system.
Tl* the contact owns a 2007 toyota camry. while the contact's vehicle was idling at a stop light, it was rear ended by another vehicle. the air bag failed to deploy. the contact sustained neck and lower back injuries that required medical attention. a police report was filed. the contact was able to coast the vehicle over to the side of the road. when the contact attempted to drive the vehicle, it failed to start. the contact powered off and restarted the engine, but the vehicle failed to drive and began shaking. all the warning indicators illuminated on the instrument panel. the vehicle was driven to the contact's residence and later towed to a collision center where it was diagnosed that the po171/02 sensor failed and needed to be replaced. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was notified of the failure and did not assist. the dealer was not contacted. the failure mileage was unknown. *js
Tl* the contact owns a 2007 toyota camry. while driving at an unknown speed, the speedometer gauge failed to provide the correct reading and the abs control module and emergency warning indicators illuminated. also the cooling component of the air conditioner failed to function. furthermore, while at a stop sign, the vehicle began to power down. the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the abs control module needed to be replaced. the vehicle was not repaired. the vehicle was not taken to a dealer. the manufacturer was not notified of the failures. the approximate failure mileage was 180,000.
The break light and abs light come one and all gauges stop working and just start jumping around. the ac doesn't work when this happens. this happens while idol and while driving. if driving, i can't tell how fast i'm going because the gauges stop working. this happens at random times then goes back to normal but seems to be happening more frequently.
Tl* the contact owns a 2007 toyota camry. the contact stated that the brakes made a weird, clicking noise. also, the brakes seized while the brake pedal was being depressed. in addition, all the warning indicators illuminated on the instrument panel. the contact also stated that the vehicle made beeping sounds while driving. the contact drove the vehicle to southern 441 toyota (9205 southern blvd, royal palm beach, fl 33411, 561-693-1393) where they diagnosed that the brakes were faulty and the battery was defective. the parts were replaced; however, the failure continued. the contact took the vehicle to several independent mechanics to be serviced, but the failure persisted. the manufacturer was not notified of the failure. the vehicle was not repaired. the failure mileage was unknown.
(1) abs module has an intermittent short. when it fails the speedometer stops working, abs and brake light on dash come on, temp gauge and tach fluctuate, and the a/c stops working. the short in module was diagnosed by a toyota dealer. i understand electrical components go bad but for it to effect the speedometer and a/c seems like a poor design. (2) on several occasions my engine oil light has come on. apparently there are issues with excessive oil consumption in some model toyotas with piston rings flaws. dealer has done oil consumption tests but unable to reproduce problem.
Hood open warning light on dashboard and chime activates while driving on surface streets and freeway. i stop to check hood and it is secure. light and alarm will clear and then a few miles later it will go on again. when car is parked and car alarm is activated, the car alarm will start sounding off in the middle of the night, with nobody near the vehicle. i have read that other owners have had these two conditions also, and believe these two conditions are related. it is an annoyance to my neighbors as well as myself, and if driving on the road this could cause an accident if pulling over to check the hood latch to silence alarm and warning light. this has now happened numerous times in the past two months.
The abs & brake light comes in and when it does the speed motor goes to 0 and also is the air conditioner is on it goes straight to blowing hot air
Instrument panel failure....while driving brake and abs lights cut on and speedometer tachometer temperature gauge gas guage and odometer quit working. the ac also blows hot air and car shakes when stopping occasionally.this has been happening for months and started around 170000 miles. dealer wants to charge thousands of dollars to find problem. that's half of the value of the car. it's not worth that much money to fix. toyota needs to do a recall for this. it is a major safety concern
Car was park and shut off and a few minutes later the car was smoking front passenger side of vehicle and caught fire.
The excelerator pedel has a slight play in it when you first step down on the pedel.
Basically the abs actuator it's failing like in the hybrid model but are not covered by the toyota extended warranty which is completely unfair as the part failing it's the same basic abs part but on different non-electric variant
Abs and brake light intermittently on. when on - the speedometer goes to zero while car is moving. rpm and water temp gauge go all over. while brake and abs lights on the a/c is blowing hot air while on max cold. all of the above occurs while moving or idle.
My brake and abs lights come on intermittent. when the two lights come on the speedometer stops working and it's difficult to brake. my local toyota dealership stated that my abs actuator/abs module is going out. this is the same year, make, and model of cars that people lost there lives due to brake issue. toyota refuses to acknowledge and repair this issue.
On highway at 65 mph, speedometer needle suddenly dropped to zero at same time abs and brake lights lit up on dash. after a few minutes, abs and brake dash lights turned off at the same time speedometer needle jumped back to current speed indication. no loss of power either way, but has been cycling between for the past week. not limited to specific speeds of amount of time engine has been running, as it occurs at various speeds and various times.
Tl* the contact owns a 2007 toyota camry. the contact stated while driving at various speeds, the abs module failed. the contact stated the gauges on the instrument panel and the traction control would fail when the abs module failed. the abs warning and emergency brake indicator illuminated. the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the abs module needed to be replaced. the manufacturer was not notified of the failure. the failure mileage was approximately 82,000. updated 06/21/17*lj *as
My car is dying when is running and the steering wheel get lock and doesn't matter what speed i go everything turns off so please let me know what it coud be because doesn't show any check engine light or anything please help

The short circuiting of the abs actuator has hit me too. this happened on 03/22/2017 to my 2007 camry le. it first came up when i was waiting at a red light. the abs and brake light came up and even when the car started moving, the speedometer wasn't moving. i took the vehicle to the service center and was told that the abs actuator needs to be replaced. it is going to cost me $2500. i do not want to spend almost half of the car's worth on replacing this part when i won't be surprised if another part blows up. looks like this is a very common issue with the 2007 camry model. i am surprised that toyota is not extending the warranty offered to the hybrid model to the non hybrid one. this is indeed a manufacturing issue and should be fixed. or is it going to take a few accidents before toyota accepts its fault. fuel gauge, tacometer, speedometer don't work nhtsa action number: pe14001 covers just hybrid model however the it's the same same part: brake actuator
Tl* the contact owns a 2007 toyota camry. the contact stated that the abs warning indicator illuminated when the vehicle was started. the contact also stated that the instrument cluster failed to operate as intended. the vehicle was taken to the dealer to be diagnosed, but the mechanic was unable to duplicate the failure. there was no fault code associated with the failure. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was not notified of the failure. the approximate failure mileage 152,369.
I have a 2007 toyota camry that has intermittent instrument cluster problems. odometer does not increment miles traveled. the speedometer and tachometer will cease to indicate proper readings and drop to zero. the tachometer will then bounce between zero and what i can only assume is a close approximation of the actual engine rpm. at the same time, the abs and parking brake warning lights illuminate and stay on for the duration of the "episode".
Tl* the contact owns a 2007 toyota camry. while driving 35 mph, the vehicle stalled. the air bag, abs, check engine, and other warning indicators illuminated on the instrument panel. the vehicle was restarted, but the failure recurred shortly afterwards. the contact mentioned that the failure was intermittent and occurred on several occasions. the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the failure mileage was 95,000.
I was driving into my garage and had just brake to let it ease in. my foot was still on the brake, when the car suddenly revved and lunged forward. the brake would not work, and it was as if the car had a mind of its own. it hit the crate that was in front of the wall, and forced a bike rack through the wall. the front bumper of my car was cracked in places. the car then stopped. so scary! i immediately called my dealership and was told they could not talk to me. i needed to call the corporation, which i did. after two months of waiting on a decision, i was told there is nothing wrong with my car, and that's that. i have since learned that there have been other incidents with toyotas just like mine. i am petrified to drive the car, and yet i am also afraid to pass it on to someone else. i don't want anyone hurt. i have called toyota, and they do not return my calls i am wondering what i can do. *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2007 toyota camry. while driving 50 mph, the entire instrument panel illuminated. the vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the abs actuator needed to be replaced. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was notified. the vin and failure mileage were unknown.
Car was recently shipped from overseas. when i got my car, the dash lights will not go off, the abs motor will not shut off causing my battery to drain constantly, speedometer will not work, gas gauge moves slow, engine shakes and feels like it is going to cut off. the car was stationary and in motion. car air condition occasionally blows hot air.
Dealership found the abs actuator had failed. symptoms included: abs and parking break lights randomly turn on while driving. speedometer will stop working and tachymeter will start to bounce. a/c also blows warm. there are several cases of this found online and per consumer reports the 2007 camry hybrid experienced problems with the abs actuator as well.
Tl* the contact owns a 2007 toyota camry. the contact stated that there was a presence of an internal fire and smoke emitted under the hood without warning. upon further inspection, it was noticed that there was an electrical charge with the positive battery cable. the battery mounts, battery posts, and metal plate burned and the battery cradle fractured, which exposed the battery. the vehicle was taken to the dealer for further inspection. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the vin was not available. the approximate failure mileage was 62,000.
On an intermittent basis, brake and abs indicator lights illuminate on instrument panel, tachometer and speedometer are inoperative or indicator needles jumping, temperature gauge inoperative, a/c not functioning. occurs while driving and when stationary. based on internet research other drivers state problem is with abs ecu. dealer indicates toyota will not fund repair. based on apparent frequency of problem, toyota should cover cost of repair. per dealer, part costs about $1700.
Abs, break, rpm, and dashboard goes crazy while driving. ac also stops working. this happens daily and goes on and off during my commute. i have already replaced alternator, batter, and electrical wiring and it's still an issue.
July 2016, check engine light came on. diagnostic indicated code p171. was advised it was a laundry list of systems to check for this code. ( replaced the following; flex pipe, 02 sensor, spark plugs and fuel pump. for a total of 1400.00) while driving on i-95 at 60 mph, airbag light, brake light, abs light and seat belt light all illuminated at the same time. techometer surged out of control, engine temp gauge displayed no reading and speedometer went to zero. oh and yeah, the ac that was blowing very cold air switched to warm or hot. all of these issues happened at the same time on the highway at 60 mph. ironically, the check engine light did not illuminate and the mechanic is unable to determine the cause as there is no code issued from the computer for this very dangerous problem. this problem happens randomly and there is no warning. the engine performs normal during this issue with the exception of the ac that fails every time. this issue can and has happened when the car is sitting parked with engine running and while in motion. i am so afraid that this eventually will cause a serious accident or death. and the most annoying part is no mechanic can tell any of us why this happens or how to fix it. please, please, help us before the worst happens.
Speedometer, tachometer and temperature gauge either stop working, or bounce around, out of control. the blower for the ac works, but when the condition exists, there is no cold air. things are normal at a cold start, but deteriorate from there, stationary or all types of driving.
Tl* the contact owns a 2007 toyota camry. while driving at any speed, the instrument panel lighting flashed, the speedometer went to zero, and the oil and abs warning lights flashed. the failure recurred continuously. the vehicle was driven to the dealer, but was not repaired. the manufacturer was notified. the vin was unknown. the approximate failure mileage was 93,000.
My oil light comes on every time i break
My car started to throw smoke from behind the clusters i stopped quickly i turned off the engine and i desconected the battery.after a couple minutes i took off the clusters and i found the problem.i bought the car to the dealer and i'me on hold to see if toyota will fix the problem. the problem is that the part # 82671-33070 it makes the clusters crazy and check engine lights from cluster check engine, brake lights, belts etc, the part melts and it gets the wires hot from the dash wirese harness that happened whent ir was driving in the city.
Tl* the contact owns a 2007 toyota camry. while driving various speeds, the speedometer became inoperable and the abs light constantly illuminated. the vehicle was taken to a dealer where the failure could not be diagnosed. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was not notified of the failure. the failure mileage was approximately 138,000.
The instrument that show speed, rpm, gasoline, etc was going wary. the speed and the rpm go up and down, brake light come on, abs light come on, etc. i do not how fast i drive. this happened around every 5 mins, randomly and last for 1 mins sometimes 10 mins. the air conditioning stop working during this time. i checked online and i saw many people experience the same thing. this is a manufacturer problem, there is not relate issue with the way you drive, the way you do anything in the car. i used the card since new and the mileage currently only 103k+, for 9 years old car this is very low mileage.
Tl* the contact owns a 2007 toyota camry. while the vehicle was parked, the contact was able to place the gear shifter in reverse without the keys being in the ignition. the vehicle coasted backwards and crashed into another vehicle. the air bags did not deploy. a police report was filed and there were no injuries. the vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired. the manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. the failure mileage was 129,000.
Recently the "abs" and "brake" light came up; now these light come up and stay on for some time- simultaneously; the needles of the mph, rpm, h/c, and gas gauge drops- the prm needles flicker up and down. also, the temperature marker doesn't work. the mph hits down to '0' when i am on the road at normal speed. but i don't know my speed. my air conditioning system does not work when this happens. i also notice that it doesn't track the "trip' miles when it is out of control (although i haven't noticed if it fails to track the mileage on the odometer. then this 'problem' stops and the car goes back to "normal." a few minutes later, the same problem. the problem can last for 5 minutes to 20 minutes. i called toyota service's 800 number after searching the web and reading similar problems being documented. here are just a few: http://www.carcomplaints.com/toyota/camry/2007/electrical/electrical_system.shtml; http://www.justanswer.com/toyota/5o8xa-toyota-camry-operating-2007-camry-occasionally.html. one person posted 'i called the toyota corporate office in 2012', yet when i called toyota claimed no knowledge. the person i spoke to even said they have never received a call about this before. some of the posts online of people who have complained about this issue state the exact thing toyota told me over the phone. this is a huge safety hazard. i tried to defrost my windows and had an issue with that because the car was on the "abs" "brake" and the car was acting up. my car tested positive for oil consumption problem and i am waiting to get that replaced. now this started happening. this "new" problem needs to be addressed and corrected by toyota.
While operating the vehicle (stationary or moving) the instrument panel will intermittently provide false/no information. some of the known symptoms include the flashing of the malfunction lights for the abs system and parking brake, the gauge needles showing zero while moving or bouncing intermittently, and the a/c system being inoperative.
Tl* the contact owns a 2007 toyota camry. while driving at any speed, the instrument panel flashed, the temperature gauge fluctuated from cold to hot, the speedometer went to zero, and the oil and abs warning lights illuminated. the failure recurred continuously. the vehicle was driven to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the brake actuator associated with the abs failed and needed to be replaced. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the failure mileage was 136,000.
I was driving my 2007 toyota camry le and the abs and brake lights came on and the rpm gauge bounce around and speedometer stops working and stays on zero and i have read a lot of complaints and should be a recall on the problem and toyota should be held responsible for this happening to a lot and several 2007 toyota vehicles like the camry. my name is [xxx]my cell is [xxx]. information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6). *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2007 toyota camry. while driving at various speeds, the speedometer went down to zero and the abs warning indicator illuminated on the instrument panel. the vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that a software issue was the cause of the failure and the software would need to be updated. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure. the failure mileage was 180,000.
The abs and brake lights of my toyota 2007 camry come on and off intermittently. when the lights are on, the whole dashboard readers; the speedometer, rpm, engine temperature and other gauges jump and flicker, the light markers for transmission gear and parking go off. the ac unit also did not work. i went to dealer to get it checked out but there were no codes to diagnose the issue. i was told to come back again when it happens for longer than a day. it keeps happening at various times of the day (morning and evening), when the car is stopped or moving, and on all types of roads and driving conditions (city streets, highway, at a stop light, at a stop sign, when i am turning). i have noticed that toyota has already issued a recall for the same issue for the 2007 camry hybrid. given the sheer number of complaints i have read about this issue for the regular camry 2007, it seems ridiculous that toyota has not issued a recall for this for the 2007 camry.
The ignition of my 07 toyota camry was continue running without the car keys. the car is not autostart. i made video but unable to upload here. i can email the video if you need for evidence.
Driving down the highway or neighborhoods the speedometer would go to 0 indicating that the speed of the car was unknown. not knowing what speed you are driving allows for excessive speed and could easily cause an accident or get stopped for speeding. the abs module is the cause of the failure
I was driving when the dashboard gauges went crazy and the brake and abs lights came on
9/15/15 the seat belt alarm system fails intermittently. this is seat belt alarm failure is a new development. it occurs in conjunction with the abs light coming on in the instrument panel, also an intermittent event. this abs light event continues to cause additional failures, including all instrument panel indicators including bright lights, air conditioner failure warning and now seat belt alarm.
