The driver's side sun visor fell down and had to be removed because it was obstructing my view. i was not driving when this happened and no one was in my vehicle.

I was driving at a low rate of speed and while driving my visor on my driver side snapped off and landed in my lap. it has to completely be replaced. i have only used this visor a few times as needed for sun glairs.

I was going to work when the driver side sunvisor flopped down and i had to move it to the side so that i could see. there was never any problem before now. so far the passenger visor stays in an upright position. i will be calling the dealer tomorrow as i have an oil change scheduled for friday.

The dashboard in my 2007 toyota camry is melting and has taken on a very sticky and shiny appearance. every little thing sticks to the dash and it can't be cleaned. not only can't it be cleaned, it also creates a large dangerous glare on the windshield while driving in the day.

At the first day of warm weather, the sun seemed to melt the dash and cause a glare on the front windshield. it gets so bad that it is impossible to see oncoming traffic. the dash top seems to turn to a sticky, glue substance. this is very dangerous.

The dashboard is literally melting away.there is a horrible sticky, gooey substance that is oozing out of the entire dashboard.you cannot touch or clean it, and when driving in the direct sun, it creates such a reflection on the window that you can hardly see. i have approached toyota on this issue several times, only to be told that they have never heard of this and that the reason the dashboard is melting is because i live in texas austin. *tr

Dashboard is melting causing glare into front windshield. *tr

The dashboard on my toyota camry is very sticky and shiny and it reflects a shiny shadow when the sun or night lights hit it. it causes a reflection and it makes it hard to see while driving. *tr

My 2007 toyota camry has the dashboard all melted. this causes a tremendous amount of glare while driving during the day and you cant see through the windshield. i've looked over the internet aswell as talked with friends and family and this is an ongoing problem with these camry models. looks like a manufacture defect that toyota does not want to replace. every year i contact them and its the same answer that it is not covered under warranty. please help !!! *tr

Melts in the sun so.soft a fingernail will damage it with just a simple brush. cannot clean because of how soft it gets. creates a glare which causes blindspots. *tr

We just bought this car for my daughter yesterday evening from a toyota dealer in fl. i saw a shiny blemish on the dashboard up by the left front speaker and the salesman told us the dash was probably damaged by cleaning agents. i realized today after the car was in the sun that the whole dash was soft and sticky like it was melting and was causing a very blinding glare when facing certain directions with the sun. the dash is so shiny that it also reflects on the windshield. the whole dash feels like a fly trap and to me seems very dangerous when driving because of the obstruction of due to glare. i've been reading online and apparently i'm not the only one experiencing this problem with a melting dashboard, nor is it limited to toyota. it seems to be a manufactured parts defect and should be handled or recalled by the car manufacture.. there also seems to be a smell the hotter it gets in the car and i don't know if its the plastic in the dash or if it could be potentially harmful. please help. thank you! *tr

When i called toyota a few weeks ago, they said no one had complained and they couldn't help me. and the toyota dealership said it could cost up to $3000 to replace. and my windshield and obstructs my view please do something about this the poor quality of the material is the reason for this toyota should be responsible. *tr

The driver side visor is broken and hanging down. toyota extended the warranty on our visors to 7 years from purchase which expired on 4/27/14. the passenger side visor was replaced during the recall but not the driver side. *tr

My 2007 toyota camry se has a melted dashboard that severely diminishes visibility when the sun is out. a reflection from the dashboard is displayed on the windshield and is like looking directly into the sun. sooner or later this is going to be the cause of an accident that may or may not result, but not limited to death. it is a defect on the part of toyota and should be addressed immediately before someone gets hurt. i have two small children and their lives should not be put in danger for an obvious defect that must be corrected. *tr

Melting dashboard. *tr

Driver side sun visor broke and is hanging loose blocking vision. *tr

I had to select visibility/wiper because it was the nearest answer to my concern. the driver side sun visor just flops down and won't stay up when not needed.it makes it difficult to see the road when it settles to odd obstructive positions by itself.

Toyota should provide a recall regarding the replacement of a defective and potentially dangerous vehicle dashboard. my car is in excellent condition but for some reason the vehicle has a sticky, melting and dirty dashboard which is impossible to clean because if you touch it vanishes, while cleaning it. furthermore, when you drive on daylight is extremely difficult to drive with the glare coming from the dashboard, which definitely may cause a horrible accident, increasing the possibility for injury and even death along time. *tr

The top of the dashboard is tacky or sticky and extremely shiny. sunlight reflects off the surface of the dashboard, creating a glare that obstructs vision. the sticky nature of the dashboard surface makes it difficult to clean. the material is extremely soft and easy to damage. *tr

Car passenger side visor failed and hangs straight down blocking the driver side right hand view. this makes it difficult to see oncoming traffic on the right hand side and forced me to put the car into a dangerous position in the center lane. fortunately other traffic had slowed to allow to proceed into the flow of traffic. this is the second visor failure for this vehicle - clearly a design/engineering issue. first was covered by warranty replacement. *tr

The dashboard is melting and peeling. it is sticky and soft. this causes a glare and obstructs my view as well as makes objects stick onto it. *tr

The dashboard has a molten sticky appearance. it is extremely reflective and when in direct light (such as the sun) the glare is reflected onto the windshield. this causes a glare in the drivers eyes which is very dangerous whilst in motion. other customers have described this phenomena as the "dashboard melting". *tr

The dashboard on my vehicle is melting. it's sticky, looks wet, and on some days it actually feels like clay. when the sun is out it's very difficult to see due to the intense glare. there have been many days i try to look at the right side of the road when there's been oncoming traffic like you do when someone is coming at you with their hi-beams on. there have been numerous vehicle safety complaints made concerning this issue but no recalls have been issued. with the amount of people reporting the exact same issue its time for someone to step up and make others with the ability to help do the right thing. this is nonsense. *tr

My dash board is melting and it has a shiny glare when the sun hits the dash it causes a glare and you can not see good out of the wind shield. it is very dangerous and toyota will not fix this manufacturer defect that so many of us owners do have the same problem. i bought my toyota brand new and i noticed after about 3 years of owning the car that the dash was very sticky and shiny. i did take it to hollywood toyota and they said they would fix it if i paid half. since this was a manufacture defect i told them that i would not be willing to pay for this awful product that they made. its very dangerous and it should be recalled. *tr

Dashboard has begun to deteriorate. it has a sticky film on it that reflects sunlight into the driver's face. the dashboard has begun to be very sticky and looks like it's going to start to fall apart. more than aesthetically disappointing is the safety issue. the reflection from the defective dashboard makes it difficult to see the road at times. *tr

The dash is melting, causing a sticky texture that causes a bright glare when the sun shines on it. *tr

The sun visor does not stay in place and keeps hanging making it a safety issue. toyota did do a warranty enhancement notice when i took the car dealer to have this done. the dealer at that time told me it was okay now so there was no need to this and to bring the car when i have problem. now that i have problem the dealer says they cannot do this as time has expired. i called toyota and they also denied to service this issue. since toyota already new that this was a problem in their vehicle i believe that they should accept their responsibility and fix this issue. i would highly appreciate if you could look into this matter as i believe there are many other vehicle owner who may have this problem now. *tr

As i was driving down the highway my driver side visor swung down in front of my face, blocking my visibility, and it would not stay up. *tr

My 2007 toyota camry dashboard started to melt this summer. i typically wipe away the dust with a clean microfiber cloth from time to time. i have been unable to do so this entire summer because anything that touches the dashboard sticks to it. it's now getting to the point that it creates a glare on the windshield and can be hard to see on a sunny day. toyota should recall this and replace it with a dashboard that won't do the same thing. i understand wear and tear but this is ridiculous. i have had many cars and this is the first situation i've come across that i felt needed to be fixed by the company, no matter how old the car is. toyota told me it had no idea about this being an issue. clearly from what i've read online, they are in denial. most reports i've seen online are in texas and florida. i'm reporting this issue from st. louis, mo. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2007 toyota camry. the contact stated while driving 70 mph, the vehicle windshield wiper intermittently disengaged. the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic. the technician was unable to duplicate the failure. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. the failure mileage was 85,000.

Dashboard recal as the title aptly suggests, my camry's dashboard has melted due to the extreme heat. my windshield has no tint and i sometimes forget to put up the windshield foil cover when i park. the dashboard now feels very sticky and when i leave the car under the sun for a long stretch, i can actually rub off some of the dashboard's rubber coating surface if i touch it. it also has several scratches due to accidental hits from fingernails and such, and a lot of scratches from the bottom of the windshield foil cover (yes, the dashboard is now that soft). i'm afraid to apply anything on it as this might just make its condition worse. my last option is to use a dashboard cover to hide the scratches and prevent the dashboard from getting damaged further. my concerns with this option are: where do i buy a good/decent-looking dashboard cover for my car? (my dashboard is color black). i'm based in fort buchanan, guaynabo and would this get in the way of the passenger airbag? any other suggestions aside from my idea above, please do not hesitate to express them. help desperately needed. thanks [xxx] [xxx] today i have attempted in contacting you on the number you provided with a negative result. the number rings and immediately goes into a occupied mode. My dashboard was getting sticky, gummy and disintegrating. when the sun shines on it ,there is a glare which makes it hard to see. it is not safety to drive. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2007 toyota camry. the contact was driving at an unknown speed when a loud bang was heard. the contact then noticed that the sun roof glass hd become fractured, exposing a large hole in the middle of the roof. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure. the vehicle was not repaired. the failure mileage was 105,000.

Tl* the contact owns a 2007 toyota camry. the contact stated that the driver's side sun visor failed to remain upright. the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. the manufacturer was not contacted about the failure. the failure mileage and vin was not available. *tr

Driver side sun visor unexpectedly falls and obscures line of sight. this happened multiple times and continues to happen. during an internet search regarding this issue, it came to light that toyota is aware of this safety issue as many customers have had the same complaint. instead of a safety recall on this, toyota decided to extend a warranty to 7 years on this issue but did not inform it's customer base about this issue. as luck would have it, i did not discover this warranty extension until 3 months after their warranty extension expired. toyota is not willing to extend the coverage and feels that they have followed proper procedures. i could not disagree more. i was using my wife's car this weekend, driving on the interstate, making a lane change at 65 mph, when all of the sudden the visor flipped down. my immediate reaction was brakes... and thankfully all was okay. in my opinion, this is a serious safety issue and should be handled as a recall, not as a customer warranty extension. *tr

My 2007 toyota camry se has dash board melted with heat from sun. the plastic coating has turned into a sticky glue like surface, if i touch the surface with hand my hand gets stuck to it like super glue. front dash board now reflect direct light from sun and creates a very bright glare and affects driver and front passenger visibility of road. i have called toyota company and they declined to offer any help because my car is more then 3 years old and it has morethen 36000 miles on it. this is a safety issue and i hope to see the response from manufacture thanks. *tr

Dropping my kid off at school one morning and it was very sunny. we were late that morning so a school attendant closed one side of the gate. the sun was very bright and because my dash is melting, the sun but a glare on the windshield. i was able to see the driver side of the gate was open but i wasn't able to see the passenger side of the gate was closed (large glare on windshield). i was able to make out that there were no children around to process to go through the gate but couldn't confirm that the passenger side of gate was closed. driver side of gate was open so i never would have thought the other side would be closed. put a big dint in my car by passenger side front window. i even had sunshades on. took all percussions other than getting out of car to look. didn't think it was something mandatory for me to do. i have contacted toyota several times because of the melting dashboard even before the accident. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2007 toyota camry. the contact stated that the dashboard was melting and affected the contact's visibility. the vehicle was taken to toyota of hollywood (1841 n state road 7, hollywood, fl 33021, 855-472-9747) where the dashboard was replaced. the contact was charged a $250 service fee for the labor required for the repair. after the dashboard was replaced, the contact received a recall notice for nhtsa campaign number: 15v689000 (visibility), which was related to the initial dashboard failure. the contact drove the vehicle back to the dealer and was informed that the dashboard was replaced. the dealer stated that the recall did not apply to the contact's vehicle because the dashboard had already been replaced. recently, the dashboard began to melt again and affected the contact's visibility while driving. the manufacturer was notified of the recall and offered no assistance with having the dashboard replaced. the manufacturer did notify the contact that she would be entitled to a reimbursement for the initial fee for the first repair. the contact submitted the necessary paperwork to receive reimbursement, but had not heard back from the manufacturer. the vehicle was not repaired. the failure mileage was unknown.

The sun visor on the drivers side slowly started to droop eventually ending up all the way down and it will not stay up. it is a hazard to drive the vehicle but my son does not have any other means of transportation. how this is not a safety issue is beyond me. *tr

The driver side visor does not snap back flush with the roof any more. it continually drops down and reduces my visibility. makes viewing traffic lights impossible to see. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2007 toyota camry. the contact stated that the rear passenger's side door could not be un-locked. the vehicle was previously repaired under nhtsa campaign id number: 12v491000 (visibility). the manufacturer was made aware of the failure. the vin was not available. the failure mileage was 59,000. updated 03/31/14*lj updated 04/09/14

My dashboard has melted and reflects off my window making it hard to see during the day. i have reported this to my dealership but nothing has been done yet. it is sticky and gooey and i am worried about visibility and what will happen if the airbag deploys. *tr

Currently, i own two toyotas and in the past was a loyal customer. i was driving down the road in my 2007 camry in january and suddenly my sun visor dropped down temporarily blinding me. i tried to get it to go back up, but it kept dropping down while i was in traffic. i had to drive home with one hand holding the visor and the other on the steering wheel. clearly, as this was a mass produced vehicle, i could not have been the only person with this issue. so, i called the new toyota of clermont dealership just a few blocks from my home. i asked for the service department. they asked for my vin number and then informed me that there were two recalls, but nothing that covered the broken visor. i was very surprised as the visor was far more dangerous than either of the other issues. on friday 2/28/14, i found online that there were a ton of other complaints about the sun visor and that there was a "warranty extension" for 2007 camrys. i took my camry over to the dealership and was informed by david the service manager that i had missed the "warranty extension" by two weeks. when i told them that they had misled me by telling me that the visor was not covered weeks ago, they informed me that the service receptionist was not trained on warranty extensions, only on recalls. i called the 800-gotoyota line and received no support. first of all toyota should have made this a recall because it is definitely a passenger safety issue. it literally renders the vehicle undriveable. they used deception in making it a warranty extension. is this how they maintain a high rating for quality. is this how the limit the cost of recalls? information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6). *tr
