We have classified the 121 complaints from 2005 Nissan Murano about VISIBILITY into the following categories.
Driver's side sun visor does not stay up. such a safety issue. nissan dealership has quoted $350 for replacement of one visor. the passenger visor has started clicking when moved so i'm concerned that this one is getting ready to start flopping down too. *tr
Passenger-side sun visor will not stay in the up, stored position. it will fall at the slightest bump in the road. this also happened to the driver-side visor which has since been replaced. *tr
I have a 2005 nissan murano and the driver side sun visor will not stay in up position. when you put it in up position it just falls back down blocking the view of the driver. nissan says this is not a warranty item and since no recalls have been issued they will charge to repair. *tr
I have a 2005 nissan murano whose sun visors drop down unexpectedly to block the drivers vision. i've checked many on-line forums and have found this to be a very common problem. i've also contacted nissan the dealer refuses to correct it even though it is a safety issue and the company web site complaint form process doesn't reply. this will cause serious accidents why wait for people to die before action is taken to correct the problem. *tr
Sun visor on 2005 nissan murano will not stay in up position. visor drops obscuring view. *tr
Driver side sun visor on 2005 nissan murano falls continually into view blocking driver from safely navigating the road. it falls on bumpy roads as well as smooth surfaces, day, night, cold, hot. told it would cost more than 300 dollars to fix- a visor!!!!! *tr
I have a 2005 murano which just passed 35k in mileage, i also have the gold-preferred warranty. my issue is that the driver-side sunvisor suddenly stop working. it no longer stays in the "up" position. it is not covered by warranty. the visor is dropping down and causing a safety issue. i've heard that almost every third nissan murano of my year has this problem. i think it is clearly a mechanical failure. thanks in advance. *tr
Tl*the contact owns a 2005 nissan murano. while driving at approximately 10 mph, the sun visor on the driver side would continuously fall down. the failure occurred on numerous occasions while the contact was traveling on a bumpy road. the vehicle was taken to an authorized dealership and the dealer stated that the visor would be replaced at the contacts expense. the current mileage was 89,461. the failure mileage was approximately 59,000.
2005 nissan murano with approximately 53,000 miles. the sun visor on the driver's side refuses to maintain position, just quit working. we have an extended warranty, but the dealership in jackson, tn (carlock) says it is not covered. searched internet and found others having same problem. it is a mechanical defect and also a safety hazard. please address this problem and have nissan answer to these defects in their sun visors. *tr
I have a 2005 nissan murano. at about 55,000 miles, the driver's side visor will not stay up - it falls at the least bump and blocks my vision. very dangerous when driving in heavy traffic. this has been happening since at least the end of april. i was told my blackburn motors that it would cost me $296.01 plus labor to replace the visor. i have had old beater cars that have never had this problem. this is a dangerous problem and the manufacturer, nissan, should replace this defective visors at their cost, not mine. if an accident occurs because of this defect, that is a bad mark against nissan. *tr
The sun visor on the driver's side will not stay in the upward or "not in use" position. i can be driving and it will fall down blocking my vision while driving. in the beginning i thought it was only my car but after researching and talking with dealership it is a common malfunction. dealership said they are aware but the problem cannot be fixed by recall because nissan has not given them the "okay." in order to fix problem a new visor would need to be installed with visor part alone costing $200+. i currently have to pull over the extension visor on the passenger side to hold up the driver's side sun visor, and the driver's side visor will still fall down at random times blocking my vision and at times at very crucial moments. i feel this is a major safety hazard and a defect product installed by nissan. in the beginning i tried to get nissan to fix but to no avail. i would have filed a complaint before now but was not aware of your website, which i believe nissan dealerships should have filed with nissan, and may have but nothing has been done about this safety hazard. i hope your company can help get this recalled before someone driving a murano with this defect gets injured or causes injury to other motorist. *tr
Tl*the contact owns a 2005 nissan murano. the sun visor on the front driver's side will not stay up. the visor constantly falls down and blocks the contact's view of the road. the vehicle has not been inspected by the dealer. through research, she found that numerous consumers were experiencing the same failure. the failure mileage was estimated at 25,000 and current mileage was 50,000. updated 12/8/09 *cn updated 12/09/09.*jb
I have a 2005 nissan murano and i am having to replace both sun visors. the driver side sun visor was the first to go and does not stay in any position except straight down... this is causing me to look under it and is very irritating as well as a seeing hazard. the passenger sun visor also will not stay in the up position but at least stays in the extended position against the windshield. nissan says this is not their problem and it's not covered under my extended warranty. i have to fork out $253 a piece for these sun visors and clearly there is a problem. *tr
I own a 2005 nissan murano with a defective driver side sun visor. it will not stay up and keeps falling down blocking my vision at time and is a distraction while driving. tried to contact dealer and they refuse to replace it under warranty. *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2005 nissan murano. the contact stated that the driver and passenger side sun visors would not remained closed when driving over any uneven road surfaces. also, the driver side seat bracket that was attached to the frame fractured, causing the seat to rock back and forth abnormally. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure and advised that the cost of replacing the seat would not be covered. the vehicle was not repaired. the approximate failure mileage was 41,000.
Tl*the contact owns a 2005 nissan murano. whenever the vehicle is driven over any bumps at various speeds, the sun visor on the driver side falls into the contact's view of the road. the visor can only be put in the up position or the down position, and the level cannot be adjusted. the vehicle has not been diagnosed by the dealer. the current mileage was 65,000 and failure mileage was 40,000.
the sun visors refuse to stay up while driving and make driving unsafe. *tr
At about 40,000 miles, the driver's side sun visor stopped holding its position. at first we could get it to stay in the up position; it just wouldn't stay set in mid position...it was either all the way up or all the way down. a few months ago (now 80,000 miles) the visor slips out of the up position and goes to the full down position when going over a big bump or at other random times. the murano doesn't have much head clearance in the first place, so the dropped visor completely obscures vision. from other discussion pages on the internet, this seems like a very common problem. *tr
Sun visors on 2005 nissan murano keeps falling down. sun visors on the driver and passenger's side keep falling down, and will not stay up. i went to the nissan dealership and they said not covered under extended warranty and wants $350.00 dollars per sun visors ($700 plus tax) for the replacements. this is a driving hazard and nissan should not charge these ridiculous prices for replacement of their faulty parts. *tr
Driver's sunvisor in 2005 nissan murano randomly falls down while vehicle is being driven. serious manufacturing or installation defect. since warranty is up dealer would not replace for free. quoted $370.00 for labor + cost of part. was finally able to persuade dealer to replace part 3 years later. (today as a matter of fact). had to threaten to get local news involved. others on message boards have had similar problems. please look into this major defect as many lives could be in jeopardy. i almost was in 2 serious accidents because of the visor just randomly falling while driving. thank goodness for brakes because i and my kids could have been another traffic fatality statistic. *tr
2005 murano sun visors broke and fell half way down blocking some of my driving view. they want over $325.00 for a new one times 2 = $650.00 without any assurance that replacements will not do the same. the only answer i get is out of warranty. perhaps you could give me some help to remedy this issue short of sewing a snap to the roof. thank you for any cooperation. *tr
The passenger side visor came lose and has now completely fallen off my 2005 nissan murano. this is a safety issue. at first the issue was i could not see because it would not stay up and now its still and issue because it came off and i can't block the sun when i am driving. living in south florida where the sun is always shining this is not safe for driving. there needs to be a recall for this. it's an obvious problem that most of us are having. i have had this problem for over two years and thought it was only me. who knows how many people out there don't know that is a factory problem. what needs to happen, someone to get into a serious accident for nissan to so something about it? they rather get sued for millions rather than taking care of this? *tr
I would like to inform you that the windshield washer spray nozzle does not direct the fluid properly on the windshield. this is especially true for the passenger side of the vehicle. when spraying the washer fluid it hits very low on the windshield and does not allow any fluid to the upper half the glass. in fact it will hit the wiper arm first and this then blocks any additional fluid to hit during the first pass. also note the following observations. that when you driving at highway speed, the air flow over the hood directs the fluid to the lower half on both sides. this is dangerous during winter driving with snow and ice falling and on the road. placement of the nozzles are in the wrong location. they get blocked by snow and ice. this also becomes a safety hazard. i have taken the vehicle in and they said nothing can be done about it. ''the nozzles can not be adjusted''. this is unacceptable. i do not know how many complaints you have received about this situation but from what i have seen on various web forums i am not the only one with this problem. are you aware of the problem and is their a fix for this problem?*jb
Dt: the windshield is distorted. the glass is wavy, and it is hard to see out of. the windshield the problem was with the outer sides of the windshield. the consumer noticed the problem about two weeks after purchasing it. this occurred on april 5, 2005. when the consumer went to two different dealerships, he was advised that every vehicle of that year, make, and model had the same problem. when he contacted the manufacturer, they said that they were made that way. the contact states that the vehicle was supposed to be a 4-wheel drive, but it is only an all wheel drive vehicle when the road is wet. *ak *nm
