Tl* the contact owns a 2005 nissan murano. the contact stated that the rear passenger side door would not unlock from the inside or outside with a key. the failure recurred continuously. the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. the manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. the failure mileage was 124,000.

I have been unable to unlock my right side doors and trunk for quite some time. took it into the nissan dealership and they advised me that it is due to the door lock actuators. they quoted me a ridiculous amount of $1500 to fix. i looked online and found that i am not the only one with this problem and also signed a petition to have nissan issue a recall. *tr

The driver side door does not lock or unlock with key fab. the rear lift gate has the same problem. the door has to be manually unlocked and lock. the rear lift gate does not unlock and can not open. *tr

Door actuators failed. door locks fail to lock and un-lock. occurred at various times, using any means available to lock and un-lock the doors: the key fob, interior driver side and passenger side locks button on door, and manual manipulation of the interior door lock(s). the issue is experienced with all 4 door locks and rear hatch. have been unable to get in or lock the vehicle except manual use of key. unfortunately the rear hatch does not have a manual system and therefore can't be locked or opened. safety issue! *tr

Passenger door, passenger-side rear door, driver-side rear door and trunk door will not unlock while pressing the key fob twice. manually unlocking the doors by using the keyhole on the outside of the driver door does not solve the above problem. manually unlocking the doors by using the driver / passenger side unlock button on the armrest does not solve the above problem. trunk door cannot be opened with any of the above means due to absence of manual lock/unlock lever on the exterior of the door. *js

First my driver door lock would work and then it wouldn't. next the same thing happened with the lift gate lock and now it doesn't work at all so i had a repair shop replace the hatch lock and it still doesn't work. *tr

Passenger door does not lock or unlock from the outside. rear hatch door does not unlock and will not open. i checked online and there are hundreds of complaints about nissan murano lock actuators posing problems and not working. nissan dealerships charge approximately $500 to fix each actuator, which seems extremely unfair considering it appears to be such a common defect. this is not only an unnecessary and preventable problem, but can be an extremely safety hazard. *tr

In mid jan, 2013 i noticed that after locking with the key fob, the front door remained unlocked, and would not lock from inside the car with either the individual lock control or the whole car lock control. the only way to lock the door is with your key, from the outside. in the event of an accident you do not have the added safety of a locked drivers door. all other doors are operating correctly at this time. the web seems to be filled with other problems like this and i wonder if they realize the danger they face when all doors are not locked in the event of an accident. *tr

The locks on the doors will sporadically lock or unlock and i am afraid my child may get locked in the car one day if keys are left in passenger seat when walking around vehicle to get child. this poses a serious threat to children or anyone in an unsure environment. *tr

nissan knowing there is a security problem with their locking mechanism and not recalling them for safety concern is negligent. it's an open door to a lawsuit if someone were to be murdered due to a door that didn't lock, although the driver pushed the lock button and heard the locking noise. remember, in this case there's no obvious indication the door isn't locked unless someone walks up and opens it from the outside. the drive "thinks" the door is locked, when in reality it's an "open door" for carjacking or robbery. this failure is an intermittent of operation. sometimes the doors lock ok, other times they don't. in addition, sometimes the doors unlock ok, other times they don't. 3. in emergencies it's important to be able to unlock doors quickly. since 99% of the time we all use the button to lock and unlock doors, using the manual locking lever is unfamiliar. and the murano's design is such that it's not easy to comprehend if it's not your car, for instance a rental car. i can easily understand how some people would be confused how unlock a door using the manual ...

Door lock actuators began to fail in our 2005 nissan murano. they stopped responding suddenly and when we thought the car was locked, it was in fact opened, which is a safety issue. it is a very common issue and usually all actuator go out at the same time. we have replaced driver's door actuator (that cost us $400) and now have to deal with other 3. hopefully nissan will recognize this as a serious problem and will issue a recall. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2005 nissan murano. the contact stated that the front passenger door and the trunk doors could not be opened when engaged. the vehicle was not taken to the dealer for diagnosis or repairs. the failure and current mileages were 69,000. updated 10/17/12 *cn updated 10/24/2012 *js

First the passenger side electric door locks were failing to lock or unlock, within weeks both rear locks started failing! this is a very major safety concern for my wife and daughter. plus in the drive the other night it didn't lock and someone got in and vandalized the interior and took personal items. *tr

The front driver side door lock actuator is malfunctioning. *tr

We have a 2005 nissan murano that has had the door lock actuators fail repeatedly since we've owned the car. when the locks fail, the doors and rear hatch can not be opened or locked with either the remote fob or the electric controls on the doors. they need to be opened manually by releasing the locking lever by hand. often when they fail the rear hatch can not be opened because there is not a manual release this is extremely dangerous and is a known problem with this style of door lock actuator. nissan is aware of this issue and has deemed the repair out of warranty even though this problem has occurred while under warranty and ever since. the individual actuator for each door approaches $500 in cost. they've advised to not have this problem, buy a new vehicle which is not acceptable. there are numerous instances of internet complaints on this issue. general motors ignored their problems for years and nissan is effectively ignoring this problem. the design of the lock actuator itself is defective and needs to be replaced with a better designed component. *tr
