Power lock on passenger door on 2005 nissan murano would not lock or unlock it. *tr
Door locks starting with drivers side passenger and now the driver door will not lock or unlock unless manually changed with lever or key. this is a huge safety issue and should be addressed passenger doors are random however are starting to show similar signs thanks in advance. *js
2005 nissan murano door locks fail to lock and unlock. i have a 2005 murano and the door locks recently have stopped working. the lock will not lock or unlock with the remote or with the door lock button on driver or passenger door. this is even a bigger problem having a 2 year old in the vehicle and the only way to unlock the door is manually. since there is no key hole on the rear doors you have to climb through the vehicle to lock the door. i can't even lock the door if she manually moves the lock with her hand i can't lock it from the driver side control. the problem started with the driver lock, then progressed to the rear right door, now three of the 4 doors are affected and also the rear hatch. it is not an option to open if you can't use the unlock button. there is no manual release button to unlock the hatch. this can a public problem for ever attempting to get a child out of a car in the case of any emergency. *tr
I would like to report a safety issue with my 2005 nissan murano. around june 1, 2010 i started experiencing an intermittent problem with the power door lock on the front passenger door. at this time the power locking actuator has completely stopped working and the door has to be locked or unlocked manually. failure of the locking mechanism can lead to the door opening at an undesired time causing injury or death to passengers in the vehicle. this is the reason for my report to the nhtsa. after researching the issue on the internet i found this is a common problem with these vehicles. i feel, as do other people i have spoken to regarding this problem that nissan should be held responsible for repair of the issue if in fact it is a common problem due to a parts defect. i am having the inoperative lock replaced but have found out in many instances all the doors at one time experience this problem. *tr
Power door lock actuator failed at 73,000 miles, this effects both passenger and rear hatch actuators will work in cold weather. *tr
Powerlock failure. *tr
2005 murano. right side passenger side door lock buttons on the outside of the door do not work and now rare door lock is does not lock. *tr
Three door locks do not work properly on 2005 nissan murano. *tr
Problem with door locks on 05 nissan murano occasionally working, occasionally not. this is completely unsafe and apparently a common problem in nissan vehicles. having a secure environment is paramount in certain neighborhoods. when locking the doors it's imperative nobody can gain access at will by walking up to the car. if anyone can simply open the door to gain access, carjacking, injury, or even murder is easier. if the doors locked properly this provides a more secure environment for this type of scenario. 2. nissan knowing there is a security problem with their locking mechanism and not recalling them for safety concern is negligent. it's an open door to a lawsuit if someone were to be murdered due to a door that didn't lock, although the driver pushed the lock button and heard the locking noise. remember, in this case there's no obvious indication the door isn't locked unless someone walks up and opens it from the outside. the drive "thinks" the door is locked, when in reality it's an "open door" for carjacking or robbery. *tr
2005 nissan murano: four of six lock actuators are failing simultaneously - the passenger front door, both rear doors and the rear cargo hatch. failure were intermittent until 5/9/10 when all failed completely at the same time. you can press the lock/unlock switch and the doors will audibly appear to lock. however, they may or may not have presenting a security hazard - car jacking, stolen property, etc. nissan has told many of us owners the problem can be fixed by replacing all the actuators at a cost of $1,600+. i find this unacceptable. there are just too many stories of this same failure in muranos and other nissan models that it is simply normal wear and tear. *tr
Original owner of murano, purchased new in 2005. the door locks fail to lock and un-lock. this has occured at vairous times when using any means available to lock and un-lock the doors: the key fob, interior driver side and passenger side locks button on door, and manual manipilation of the interior door lock(s). the issue is experienced with all 4 door locks and occassionally the rear hatch (not opened as often, so it may occure more frequently, just not aware of it). the condition worsens in the warm weather (live in fl). have at times been unable to get in or out of my vehicle until all of the above means tried repeatedly until one works. have found that i can only get in my car during warm weather if i use the fob to roll the front windows down and then reach in the vehicle and manually unlock the car door. *tr
My 2005 nissan murano had the front passenger door lock actuator stopped working in 2008. today, may 1, 2010 the back passenger side door lock actuator stopped working. i find this to be a serious problem that the door does not lock and/or unlock unless you manually do it. i have children and to get the baby out of the car seat i have to reach back unlock the door manually and then go around the car to take him out. the dealership informed it would be $389 per door. i tried calling nissan headquarters what a joke....i've been told they never heard of this problem. *tr
Failure of 2 door locking mechanisms in 2005 murano 1. having a secure environment is paramount in certain neighborhoods. when locking the doors it's imperative nobody can gain access at will by walking up to the car. if anyone can simply open the door to gain access, carjacking, injury, or even murder is easier. if the doors locked properly this provides a more secure environment for this type of scenario. 2. nissan knowing there is a security problem with their locking mechanism and not recalling them for safety concern is negligent. it's an open door to a lawsuit if someone were to be murdered due to a door that didn't lock, although the driver pushed the lock button and heard the locking noise. remember, in this case there's no obvious indication the door isn't locked unless someone walks up and opens it from the outside. the drive "thinks" the door is locked, when in reality it's an "open door" for carjacking or robbery. this failure is an intermittent of operation. sometimes the doors lock ok, other times they don't. in addition, sometimes the doors unlock ok, other times they don't. 3. in emergencies it's important to be able to unlock doors quickly. since 99% of the time we all use the button to lock and unlock doors, using the manual locking lever is unfamiliar. in emergencies every second counts. the locking/unlocking solenoid malfunctioning is clearly a high risk in emergency scenarios. some people who cannot afford the $1600 to have all the solenoids replaced (as quoted by dealers) will forgo getting them fixed, putting their family members at risk with the above mishap examples. this shouldn't be, nissan should recall them. *tr
05 nissan murano sl driver door and passenger door and rear hatch locks not working with remote or key. this is unsafe !!!!!! and is becoming ever prevalent with many murano owners. please insist nissan recall these issues as these problems are too identical with individuals across the country for nissan to not know the problem. *tr
Just randomly, nothing occurred to cause this issue, my locks began acting up on my 2005 nissan murano. it randomly will not lock or unlock my doors. this is a huge issue for me being that i thought i was not going to be able to get my 3 month old baby out of my car. i had to go to the other side of my car and crawl through. luckily those were unlocked. but what it they had not, i would have had a small baby stuck in the 100+ degree car. *tr
Make - 2005 nissan model murano component * door lock * component -- part or system of concern - stopped working about 5 months ago. *tr
I have a 2005 nissan murano and the drivers side door lock actuator will not unlock the door. *tr
Door lock fails to open or close electronically. *tr
All 4 door locks does not work with the remote control or from the door switch. doors doesn't lock or unlock nissan murano 2005. *tr
2005 nissan murano. front driver side door will not lock or unlock with keyless entry, outside electronic door button, or most importantly, the manual lock inside the car. only way to lock door is with key. so to lock door once in car, must open window, awkwardly insert key into outside door keyhole while inside car, and then twist key. in case of accident or emergency, cannot unlock the front door driver side without using key from the inside, which may be impossible depending on conditions of emergency or accident. according to many hundreds of complaints on internet, dealers want from $500 to $600 to repair even to fix the manual locking process for the door. this amount is prohibitive form many people for what should be a simple fix of less than a hundred dollars for at least the manual locking process. the electronic locking system is a luxury item, but the manual locking system is being held hostage by the dealers and in my opinion, presents a huge safety problem. *tr
The driver side door lock actuator stopped working on my 2005 nissan murano. *tr
Failure of one or more door locks to respond to electric lock button or intelligent key. intermittent at first, but then two doors finally ceased responding. replacement of actuator required. research conducted online indicates that malfunction of doorlocks within the first 5 years of a nissan vehicle's life is common. in addition, it was discovered that a local dealership maintains an inventory of replacement actuators for altimas. fortunately i haven't required immediate response of the door locks to protect my family in an emergency, however, it is not out of the realm of possibilities. therefore, i have been replacing actuators in each door as they fail. *tr
Driver's door lock does not work reliably. it will work using the key manually. the other locks appear to be working properly at this time. this problem has caused by car and belongings to be unsecured and poses a safety concern.
Tl*the contact owns a 2005 nissan murano. the vehicle was parked and the contact stated the front driver and passenger side doors would not lock or unlock. the automatic locks failed to function when entering or exiting the vehicle. the door locks also would not function manually. the vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer where the technician stated that the failure was related to the lock actuators. the vehicle had not been repaired when the complaint was filed. the contact had concern about the potential safety hazard. the failure mileage was 72,000. the vin was rejected from the system. updated 10/05/10. *lj
Door locks problem. when i lock the doors with my control or from the inside, they don't lock or unlock. same with the trunk, i cannot open my trunk because the system doesn't work. i contacted dealer and they told me i have to replace locks (all 5) for more than $1500.00 i also see this issue is common in all nissan in different years. a recalled should be called since this is a security issue with the car. thanks *tr
The doors do not unlock by any electronic signal from the panel or hand held device, making the matter worse for the back door which can't be unlocked period. since there is no manual override to open the back door, this is a serious safety issue and should be repaired and redesigned by nissan as the responsible producer of the vehicle. *tr
Rear hatch door will not open on my 2005 nissan murano. *tr
I'm having problems with the electric door locks on 2005 nissan murano. three locks sometimes work, but most of the time they don't. i'm concerned that if there is an emergency someone is going to get hurt because the lock will not work. i understand that a lot of people are having the same problem and nissan will not take responsibility for the problem. *tr
2005 nissan murano door locks do not work with key fob or door button. *tr
I have a nissan murano 2005. three of my doors have been diagnosed by a nissan service center to have broken actuators. these doors don't lock by any means other then manually pushing the lock to the close position. i have opened a "file" with nissan but they have stated they will not provide any assistance. i find this to be a safety hazard. i can understand one going bad but three means there is a deeper issue. please let me know what else i can do? thanks. *tr
My wife drives a 2005 nissan murano and recently we have been having problems with the door locks. there are times when they work and other times they don't. i'm concerned that if my wife is in an area of some concern that there is a way to lock all the doors. in an emergency there is no way to know if the doors will unlock when you need them to. since the only door with a key hole is the drivers door, if there should be a situation were my wife and daughter should need to rush in the car, this would be a problem. i took the car in to the shop to get it checked out and they told me that the door actuators needed to be replaced. the gentleman told me that the actuators aren't sold separately but that the hole assembly would need to be purchased at $409.00 each. this appears to be a way to greatly over charge. i think that if there wasn't a defect it would be an isolated issue but when they all start malfunctioning at the same time, there is definitely a problem. after leaving the dealer concerned that this just didn't sound right i started to research on the internet and found this to be happening to several nissan vehicles. if this part is causing difficulties then nissan should make the part simple to replace. i have also researched into the cost of some door actuators on the internet and find them to range around $25.00. since i'm not a mechanic i don't know if the part can be purchased outside of nissan and would still work. thank you *tr
All the door locks on my '05 nissan murano don't work properly. the passenger doors have to be locked manually. the lift gate lock works intermittently. this has been going on for over a year. *tr
We own a 2005 nissan murano - the driver's door and passenger door on the driver's side will not unlock with the remote or the switch - they require a manual unlock - this seems to be a common problem with these vehicles from my research online - i feel it is a safety issue that nissan should repair at no charge to the consumer. also, the airbag light stays on - we have had this checked, and it continues to be on - this is also another safety issue. our vehicle is in perfect condition otherwise. we have less than 60,000 miles on the car. *tr
Door locks on my 2005 nissan murano quit working through key fob, drivers side and passenger side doors. only way to unlock is to put key into driver side door and then manually unlock all others, to include rear hatch. started with front passenger door and then made its way around the car one door at a time. took car to nissan dealership and they told me it would cost hundreds of dollars just to diagnose the problem so i didn't pursue. wanting nissan to fix because apparently this is a common occurrence. thank you for your time. *tr
The automatic door locks on my 2005 nissan murano have failed. this is a safety issue because i cannot lock nor unlock all my doors with a touch of a button. additionally, the key fob does not work to allow me to unlock drivers door so if threatened i would be unable to get in/ get out of auto quickly. likewise the powerlock does not allow me to lock all doors. also the rear hatch doesn't work reliably due to the problem with the locking mechanism and the auto locks are the only way to open hatch. should auto get a flat there would be no access to the spare. this is not only a convenience issue but a real safety issue- in the instance of a carjacking or to escape to the safety of my car. i cannot even contemplate all the scenarios which make this a safety issue however it clearly is. *tr
2005 nissan murano sl door lock/unlock solenoids become weak and will not lock and unlock the doors. the solenoids are part of the door lock assembly. when the lock solenoids fail, the driver cannot lock the doors from the drivers seat thus introducing the possibility of "car jacking" or assault. *tr
Door locks does not work as intended having a secure environment is paramount in certain neighborhoods. when locking the doors it's imperative nobody can gain access at will by walking up to the car. if anyone can simply open the door to gain access, carjacking, injury, or even murder is easier. if the doors locked properly this provides a more secure environment for this type of scenario. 2. nissan knowing there is a security problem with their locking mechanism and not recalling them for safety concern is negligent. it's an open door to a lawsuit if someone were to be murdered due to a door that didn't lock, although the driver pushed the lock button and heard the locking noise. remember, in this case there's no obvious indication the door isn't locked unless someone walks up and opens it from the outside. the drive "thinks" the door is locked, when in reality it's an "open door" for carjacking or robbery. *tr
1. passenger door lock locks and/or unlocks intermittently via the key fob or the door switch. problem continues to happen more regularly, and leads to the front passenger door being unlocked when thinking it is locked. 2. having a secure environment is paramount & locking the doors it's imperative so nobody can gain access at will by walking up to the car. if anyone can simply open the door to gain access, carjacking, injury, or even murder is easier. if the doors locked properly this provides a more secure environment for this type of scenario. remember, in this case there's no obvious indication the door isn't locked unless someone walks up and opens it from the outside. the drive "thinks" the door is locked, when in reality it's an "open door" for carjacking or robbery. this failure is an intermittent of operation. sometimes the doors lock ok, other times they don't. in addition, sometimes the doors unlock ok, other times they don't. in emergencies it's important to be able to unlock doors quickly. since 99% of the time we all use the button to lock and unlock doors, using the manual locking lever is unfamiliar. and the murano's design is such that it's not easy to comprehend if it's not your car, for instance a rental car. i can easily understand how some people would be confused how unlock a door using the manual level in an emergency when they virtually have no experience with it. in emergencies every second counts. the locking/unlocking solenoid malfunctioning is clearly a high risk in emergency scenarios. 3. nissan knowing there is a security problem with their locking mechanism and not issuing a recall for this safety concern is negligent. it's an open door to a lawsuit if someone were to be murdered due to a door that didn't lock, although the driver pushed the lock button and heard the locking noise. dealerships report a minimum $600 to $1600 to have 1 to all solenoids replaced because of the expense many will forgo getting them fixed. *tr
About 8 months ago i started experiencing door lock problems. first the front passenger door worked intermittently. now the driver door and rear gate work about 5% of the time, if that. i believe this is a safety issue. when i first contacted the dealer they indicated that it was not covered by the warranty and that i may need the actuators replaced for each affected door. needless to say, the work estimate was unacceptable to me (car had already exceeded 75,000 miles). *tr
Our driver and left rear passenger door actuator randomly does not work. it will not unlock with the intelligent key, nor the key fob, nor if we push the unlock button - we have to manually unlock it at times. we believe this to be a safety issue and are requesting a recall to fix this problem. *tr
1. doorlocks not operating properly. 2. occurrence intermittent; safety consequence, doors are unlocked. 3. dealer replaced 2 actuators at a cost of $1,000. *tr
I have a 2005 nissan murano and the door locks do not properly lock and unlock on the car utilizing the cars key fab. it does not lock and unlock therefore it is difficult to get in and out of the car. *tr
I have a 2005 murano; my problem is: my driver's side door lock only works intermittently, and i can't always tell whether the door is locked or not. it sounds like it is locking/unlocking, but it doesn't always seem to be the case. i have gotten two different quotes from nissan dealerships, and both service managers said that it is a common problem. i feel like it is unsafe, and it seems like it is an issue that should fall under the "recall" policy. thank you. *tr
I have a 2005 nissan murano, purchased in 2005. recently i have been having problems with the right front passenger door and hatchback not locking or unlocking by use of the fob. the right front passenger door does not have a key lock and apparently when this door lock motor is not locking or unlocking, neither is the rear hatch. i believe that this is a safety issue and nhtsa should fource nissan to recall all their vehicles with this problem for replacement w/o cost to the consumer. having a secure environment is paramount in certain neighborhoods. when locking the doors it is imperative no one should have access to the vehicle. if anyone can simply open the door to bain access, carjacking, injury or even an assault if much easier for the perpertrators. if the doors locked properly this provides a more secure environment and eliminates some of these terrifying scenarios. nissan, knowing there is a security and possibly safety problem with their locking mechanism and not recalling these vehicles for consumer protection and safety, is negligent. their action will open the door to a class action lawsuit should someone be murdered, robbed, raped or assaulted due to a door that didn't lock, although the driver pushed the lock button and heard the apparent locking sound. remember, in this case there are no obvious indications the door isn't locked, when it reality is an "open door" with the occupants easy targets. this failure is an intermittent of operation. sometimes the doors lock and other times they don't. in emergencies it is important to be able to unlock doors immediately. during a crisis situation the driver and passengers use the door rocker button to unlock the doors, the locking/unlocking solenoid or actuator malfunctioning is clearly a high risk in emergencies. nissan's usual quote of $1600.00 to repair and replace all the door lock and actuators is ridiculous, and should be a recall item. *tr
1. there were no events that lead upto the failure of the locking mechanism. 2. the failure started automatically. there is a problem in the locking actuator. the lock switch does not lock the door even though the switch is pressed and the locking sound is heard. this makes personal safety a big concern. if the door is unlocked when the locking switch is pressed, it can still be opened from the outside. in environments when personal safety is of strong concern, there should be some sense of feeling secured within the car when the door is "locked." someone could be hurt, robbed, carjacked, or even murdered because of a simple locking mechanism failure. this failure is all around with many cars having all 4 door locks fail at once across all nissan car/suv/truck models. the replacement cost for 4 actuators from the nissan dealership is $1600. this is a safety concern and a recall should be made for all nissan muranos. *tr
Driver's side door actuator does not work to open/lock the door anymore. safety issue for my wife's car. online search showed 1000's of nissan owners with the same problem. how this is not a recall i do not know. *tr
I have had intermittent problems opening the front driver side door with the keyless remote for 2 1/2 years and recently it has become a problem 99% of the time. about a month ago i discovered one of my rear doors was unlocked when it should not have been. yesterday when a passenger tried to get in the back door on the opposite side it would not unlock even when using the interior button. i'm sure it's only a matter of time before the only properly functioning door stops working and the gas cap will no longer open. how do you open the gas cap with a faulty locking mechanism?? is there a way to open it manually?? there is also a question of safety if doors cannot be locked and unlocked with the interior lock button....risk of car jacking, theft. emergency personnel could not gain quick access in the event of an accident or fire or submersion when every second counts, especially involving infants and small children in car seats (or elderly) who can't or don't know how to manually unlock the door. lives are at risk! the cost to repair one door is astronomical let alone having to repair three or all four. this is a widespread nissan defect that they refuse to acknowledge and repair. i have always been a big nissan fan and this is the third nissan i have owned. i will not buy another one if they don't step up and fix this problem. we owners of these vehicles are reminded daily of the safety issues every single time we enter and exit our cars and have to manually check each door to make sure they are all locked. a recall needs to be issued. this is a safety concern. *tr
All 5 of the door locks on my 2005 nissan murano have failed within the last year. i replaced the driver's door lock actuator assembly when the lock would not lock or unlock with the key fob or button on the door. since then all of the other door locks, including the lift gate, have experienced the same problem. this is a safety issue. in the event of an emergency, such as a fire, i would not be able to unlock all the doors so passengers could escape. if i were being stalked, i would not be able to lock all the doors quickly. the door lock problem that i have described is being experienced by 2004 - 2010 nissan murano and maxima owners around the country. nissan needs to recall these vehicles and fix them! *tr
I noticed my passenger side door lock would not automatically lock or if i manually locked it would not unlock by pushing the lock button in my 2005 nissan murano probably about three months ago. so now i have to manually lock and unlock that door everytime. about two weeks ago i was going to load groceries in the back of my vehicle and when i hit the security unlock device the back hatch never unlocked. so now i can never open my back hatch because there is no key entry on the trunk. this is a huge safety issue. i took it to my local mechanic and he said it was the locking system in the car and would cost me over $700.00 to fix it. nissan needs to take care of this because it is happening to alot of people and it is only a matter of time before an unsafe situation occurs and is in the media due to not having the ability to lock or unlock your car doors. *tr
I was trapped in my nissan murano during 115 degree day in arizona for 20 minutes. i had to restart the car and drive to a facility where i could be freed from the vehicle. the door lock actuator solenoid only partially activates locking assembly on drivers door and only partially disengages. this creates a situation where you cannot open the door from the outside or inside of the vehicle in an emergency. this partial disengagement also keeps the door handle from opening the door manually. evidentially i am not the only nissan owner who has had the same problem. the internet has numerous documented owners of nissan vehicles with the same exact problem. nissan has failed to address this problem in a timely manner and possible death or serious injury could result in the event of a collision or fire due to the inability of the doors to be opened manually during this partial lock situation. the door handle should always open from the inside and over-ride the lock on the drivers door. *tr
