We have classified the 121 complaints from 2005 Nissan Murano about VISIBILITY into the following categories.
I am the original owner of 2005 murano. i noticed a problem with hydroplaning soon after purchase, and have always been extremely careful and on guard when driving in rain or even when streets are wet. this would happen with brand new tires and tires that were slightly worn so the tires don't seem to be the problem, unless its the type of tire but its not the tread on the tire. the car came with goodyear eagle p235/65 r18 tires and i have replaced with same tires when nissan service department advised of tread wear. on july 22, 2013 i was on my way home from gatlinburg with daughter and 2 year old granddaughter in car. we were caught in downpour going through knoxville. i truly cannot believe we are alive. my car would continually lose traction and it would slide to one side until it would grab traction before going off the road or wrecking. something is terribly wrong with the murano in regards to hydroplaning. i also have had the problem with the driver's side visor coming down and will not stay up since a couple years after i bought the car. i love everything else about my murano and due to hydroplaning safety issue i will not be purchasing another one. please take this issue up with nissan before people are killed. i cannot afford to replace my murano at this time so if there is anything that can be done please, please help me take care of this issue. this is definitely a manufacturer problem. there is no doubt people have been killed because of this problem but was not proven because didn't live to tell what happened. what can i do at this point to prevent becoming a statistic and more importantly ensure the safety of my precious cargo? i feel lucky to be alive. *tr
The visor will not stay up. it is dangerous because i am 6'1"and my son is 6'9" and we can't see out of the window when we drive. this is supposedly a common thing with this car. it costs like $300. to fix. it is a safety issue and nissa knows about it and should have to fix it without charge. *tr
Cpsc#i1320244a. consumer stated that the driver side visor will not stay up and blocks her view while driving. *ln
Tl* the contact owns a 2005 nissan murano. the contact stated that the sun visors fractured. the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. the manufacturer was not notified. the vin was unavailable. the failure mileage was 50,000.
Visor keeps falling down while driving. i almost got into a car accident couple times because visor fell down and blocked my view. i think nissan should recall this problem. i research this problem online and hundreds of people got the same problem. it's a very serious problem and should't be ignored.
The sun visor in my nissan murano flips down and does not stay up while driving. this is a safety hazard as it suddenly drops down on slightest of bumps and blocks the visibility. *tr
Electronic door lock on the driver side would sporadically unlock or lock door...now is all the time and must be locked manually. this is a safety hazard when trying enter the vehicle in an un secure environment or can result in stolen merchandise or parts left in the vehicle. driver side sun visor also well not stay in upright position and drops suddenly blocking the view of the driver. *tr
The driver side sun visor on my 2005 nissan murano will not stay in the "up" position. it can rotate to vertical at any time, blocking the driver's vision and distracting the driver's attention. replacement visors are $300 and up. nissan is in complete denial that this chronic problem exists. *tr
Original owner, purchased new in 2005. the driver side visor will not stay in up position and must be held in place by other means .(i am currently using a bungee cord that is attached to the visor clip and ran across to the drivers side roof handle above window to hold the visor up so that i have adequate visibility through the front windshield). when attempting to reposition the visor in the up and lock position i heard a popping sound. after that, the visor has failed to stay locked in the up and flat position, keeping it flush against the interior roof. if not using another means to keep the visor up, it will remain in the down position and blocks drivers view. does not have the flexibility to remain at an angle to block sun, only hangs straight down. *tr
The driver side visor fell down one day and will no longer stay in up position. it must be left down flush against the window which obstructs the drivers view of the roadway. the visor repair is covered by my warranty but my deductible is $200 and to fix the visor without the warranty is over $300. from what i have read, this is an ongoing issue and a serious safety issue for drivers. people who have gotten them replaced continue to have this issue and the visor should be recalled and replaced with one that works in every other car. there are a lot of complaints here and it doesn't appear that anyone is doing anything about it. *tr
Driver side sun visor will not stay secured in the 'up' position. falls into driver's vision at unexpected times and especially if driving over rough surface or hitting bump or dip in road surface. presents clear and present dangerous condition(s) from sudden lack of visibility and/or in acting as a potential 'knife edge' in case of a sudden stop. *tr
The driver side sun visor arbitrarily drops into view from the stored position causing a distraction and momentarily blocking the driver's vision. this is a dangerous situation given the distraction, blocked vision, and daily occurrences. *tr
While driving at highway speeds the sun visor on both drivers and passager side swing down and block the vision of the driver. the cost to replace the visors is $800.00, at this cost it makes you thing nissan is aware of this problem and chooses to make a profit on these instead on considering the safety aspect of their customers. i feel there should be a safety recall after reading the number of complaints on this. *ln
I own a 2005 nissan murano and have uncovered a vehicle defect that is a safety hazard. the sun visors are a defective design and keep flipping completely down and blocking the view through the windshield. in some of the most inopportune times, your vision gets completely blocked until you flip it back up. that is very dangerous in the snow, rain, heavy traffic, or at night. sometimes it can drop 2 - 3 times a minute. this is a problem on thousands of 2003 to 2007 muranos. replacing the sun visor is prohibitively expensive at $400 each and since this flaw has not been addressed at all by nissan, you are only replacing a defective visor with a new one that will become defective in a couple of years. i replaced my driver's side visor 2 years ago because of this defect and the replacement one is now dropping again. nissan has a tsb to replace the clip that holds the mirror side of the visor but that does not address the issue. the problem is a defective visor, not the clip. the visor shaft that inserts into the clip loosens inside the visor and rotates, and that is the defect. the weight of the visor easily overcomes any friction the shaft has inside the visor and down it comes. nissan refuses to do anything about this safety defect. they won't cover it on the extended warrantees. there should be a safety recall to address this safety hazard. is there anything that can be done except throw $400 to nissan every 2 - 3 years to replace each single visor with another defective one? the passenger side is also now dropping. nissan has recently raised the price considerably to gouge and capitalize on their poor design. right now i have the visor tie wrapped to the side handle and that makes the visor completely useless. if i replace both again, i will have spent $1200 so far on visors to only expect to replace them again in 2012-2013. $1200 is a ridiculous price for replacing defective visors with new defective ones. please help if you can. *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2005 nissan murano. the contact stated that the driver side sun visor would not remain in a secure upward position and was obstructing the visibility of the driver. the sun visor was permanently removed, the part was ordered and the contact planned to perform a repair when the part became available. the failure mileage was approximately 62,000. updated 05/05/11*lj updated 05/11/11
I own a 2005 nissan murano. the sunvisor on the driver's side wouldn't stay up and was right in my line of sight. i had it replaced and cost nearly $400. now the passenger side won't stay up either. the price has increased to nearly $500!!! this is a safety hazard and needs to be recalled by nissan. i can's safely drive the car with the sun visor always in the down position. i have tried velcro and it won't hold it up. i saw online there have been multiple complaints about this problem and nissan refuses to help any of their customers except to pay the cost of replacement. this is a safety issue and nissan needs to issue a recall on their sun visors. *tr
Tl*the contact owns 2005 nissan murano. while driving approximately 70 mph the sun visor fell down on its own making it difficult for the driver to see the road. he contacted the manufacturer and was informed that he would have to replace the sun visor. the vin was unavailable. the approximate failure mileage was 70,000.
Tl* the contact owns a 2005 nissan murano. the contact stated that the front driver and passenger sun visors would not remain in the upward position. the contact also stated that the sun visors fall down and create a distraction while driving. the contact took the vehicle to the dealer and the dealer stated both sun visors needed to be replaced. the contact did not replace the sun visors. the failure mileage was 65,000.
Like everyone else here my 2005 nissan murano sun visor driver's side won't stay up and it flops down. i agree that this is a very serious safety issue. i refuse to pay $500 to have a defect originally from nissan repaired properly. the visor is totally loose and won't stay up nor will it stay put to block the sun since it's so loose that it simply flops straight down. i have resorted to using duck tape to tape it in the up position so it doesn't flop down when i hit a bump traveling down the road at 70+ mph. it's a serious safety issue and i'm mad as *** about it. the passenger side has a similar problem but it's not as bad - probably just due to less usage on the passenger side. *tr
The driver side sun visor will fall down from any postion and block visabily out of the windshield. it will also scare the driver causing hands to leave the steering wheel in self preservation and to move the visor out of the viewing area. this does not happen all of the time. so each time it does happen iit is a shock to the driver. there is no aftermarket repair. the dealer wants in excess of $300 to replace it. there is no guarentee that the replacement will not perform as the original. i have tried to velcro the visor in the up position but velcro will not stick to the head liner very well. also i need the visor in more than just an up or down position. *tr
The driver's side visor will not stay in the stowed position. it falls down into the driver's line of sight obstructing his/her vision. it happens intermittently, surprising the driver, causing a safety hazard. to keep it out of the way, one hand must be used to hold it up, leaving only one hand to drive. *tr
The driver's side sun visor is broken. it will not stay up or down. i have read on line that this is a common problem in nissan muranos. i have a 2005 nissan murano. *tr
Both sun visors on my nissan murano started flopping vertically down. they do not stay up, nor tilted downwards against the windshield. as a result my view gets disturbed while startling me. have checked with the dealer when getting another repair. they say that it costs $300-$500 each to replace them. no used sun visors are available in the after market as all sun visors tend to go bad. this is a 100% common safety issue with all murano's and very expensive replacement where this should not have happened. i am 51 years old and never experienced this with any cars i have ever had. *tr
Without warning, the driver's side visor of my 2005 nissan murano disconnected and blocked my vision while driving. since then it does not stay in place and is a constant disturbance while driving because it does not stay in place. i was advised that it is not covered on my extended warranty. i did some internet research and discovered that this is an ongoing problem with this model car. if you complain enough, some dealers have replaced it for no charge. in my case i was given a quote of $320 to replace it. *tr
The driver's side sun visor fails directly into my line of vision and will not stay up. you can push it back up but then at any given time it will fall again. extremely frustrating and dangerous! *tr
2005 nissan murano driver's side sun visor will not stay upright causing driver's sight to be impaired and a near miss accident on highway. *tr
I own a 2005 nissan murano with a gold preferred extended warranty. the vehicle has 46,000 miles on it and the visor won't stay up. according to my dealer this is not an uncommon problem but it's considered a "trim" (?) item and therefore not covered. i believe this is a safety issue that could lead to a serious accident and should be covered or subject to a recall. *tr
My 2005 nissan murano drivers side sun visor will not stay up. this has been going on for months. it falls several times, every time we driver the car. have seen hundreds of posts on this issue. this is a serious safety issue. when the sun visor falls my husband can not see out the window. he almost ran into the back of another car the last time he drove. this should be a safety recall. *tr
My sun visor has been broken for nearly a year now. it's on the driver's side and will not stay up. if a tall person is driving you have to hold it up for them so they can see the road. this is a very severe safety hazard. i have a 05 niacin murano and according to the following blog, several people are having the same issue. it should be recalled as some have spent 400.00 to replace it only for it to break again. http://www.nissanforums.com/truck-suv/113557-murano-sun-visor-failure.html *ln
Tl* the contact owns a 2005 nissan murano. while traveling at 40 mph, the driver's side sun visor suddenly fell into the driver's line of vision without warning. the passenger's side sun visor was also exhibiting the same failure. the dealer advised the sun visors could be replaced at the contact's expense. the vehicle was not repaired. the failure mileage was 50,000 and the current mileage was 59,000.
Driver's side sun visor on my 2005 nissan murano has loosened and falls in the driver's line of sight unexpectedly. it has been vertified by the dealership at a cost of almost $500. nissan has been contacted and has refused to cover the replacement. it is a safely hazzard since it blocks the driver's vision and falls without warning. it will not stay where it should, either up or down, and is practically in the driver's face when it falls. evidently it is an issue that has occured in nissan muranos since 2003 and the manufacturer knows about it and has not taken appropriate action to correct the problem with successive models nor to cover the cost for those owners whose autos are out of warranty. as with any recall issue, it is a safety issue that should be addressed. *tr
Driver side sun visor flips down to block drivers view. 2005 nissan murano. occurs daily. need repair. *tr
Sun visor on driver side has failed causing it to suddenly drop and obstruct the view of the road. *tr
The right sun visor in my 2005 nissan murano falls down. my husband about turned into a car because this thing as in his line of vision. not safe and a piece of junk for a sun visor. i had to replace the driver side about 2 years ago.. *tr
Drivers side visor drops down without warning, including while driving. occurs during hot weather, cold weather, on short drives or long ~ no consistency. unscrewed the visor to attempt to find loose screws, none of which there were. attempted to use velcro to secure visor to interior roof, but did not stick due to cloth interior lining of roof. *tr
I have a 2005 nissan murano. my driver side sun visor is broken for no apparent reason and will not stay up. it randomly falls down while i am driving with no warning. i drive over 120 miles a day, and am scared that i am going to have an accident. this part is also $300 + to replace!! *tr
Sun visor on both driver and passenger sides have failed cause them to suddenly drop and obstruct the view of the road. *tr
Failure of the driver's side sun visor on 2005 nissan murano staying in a fixed position. the sun visor does not stay in the set position and tilts down fully and blocks the drivers field of view when driving. this creates a dangerous safety issue of drivers of the nissan murano. *tr
Recently, the sun visor on our 2005 nissan murano started falling down suddenly while driving. this happens frequently - every few hundred feet on a paved, bumpy road. smooth interstate lanes do not affect, but hit 1 bump and you'll have the visor in your face. this visor obstructs the view of anyone taller than 5'4" immediately. this car only has 58,500 miles on it. i took it to the nissan dealer, he said they'd seen this before but nissan did not cover replacement, the nissan price for the driver's side only for this visor was quoted at $380.00. he suggested i try a salvage yard or ebay to find one cheaper. as i went on-line to investigate, i found forum after forum of people who have experienced this same issue. response was mostly the same - no corrective measures were offered by nissan, many had replaced the visor - only to have the replacement fail as well. i felt this to be a manufacturing defect, so i filed a complaint on the nissan website. today they told me they weren't offering any adjustment or compensation on resolving this issue. that's when i expressed my dissatisfaction and told them i would be filing a complaint with you. i believe this to be a legitimate safety concern due to immediate and almost total view obstruction when the visor falls. even if the driver is short, it is an obvious distraction. must someone have a tragic accident before a manufacturer steps up to do the right thing? *tr
The failure is with my 2005 nissan murano. the sun visor on the driver side no longer works property and drops down blocking my eye line. without having it tapped up in place it could cause a serious accident. nissan claims it is not a defect although there are thousands of people online with the same exact problem. i can't afford $350 to get a new one and nissan refuses to help out their loyal customers. a recall needs to happen in order to fix all of the visors. i don't remember the exact date it started falling, so i'm putting an estimate. *tr
Driver's side sun visor will not remain in up during driving conditions. item will fall into down position and obstruct driver's view of road, other vehicles, and signage. this is not an isolated incident on bumpy roads; this has happened multiple times a day for the past 12 months, all on highway miles. *tr
Window sun visor keeps falling down. *tr
Tl*the contact owns a 2005 nissan murano. while driving 35 mph the sun visor on the drivers side broke and continued to fall in her face. the vehicle was taken to the dealer who stated that the cost to repair the sun visor was $400. there are no recalls or warranties. the manufacturer was not notified. the vehicle was not repaired. the failure mileage was 80,000. updated 03/08/11
The driver's side sun visor on my '05 nissan murano won't stay up. it falls down while driving, creating a safety hazard. it seems that many murano owners are having the same problem, but nissan will not correct the issue. replacement at the dealer will cost over $400. *tr
The drivers side sun visor (when stowed in the up position) will not stay up, it falls without warning blocking your vision/sight. *tr
In my 2005 nissan murano the sun visor wont stay up and continuously falls down while driving, instantly blocking my vision, and has almost caused many accidents. i have read over 300 complaints of the same issue from other nissan murano owners, and there are many more. *tr
2005 nissan murano (40k miles). my driver side sun visor started falling down in my face while driving. also passenger side sun visor has same problem. *tr
I own a 2005 nissan murano and have had numerous "incidents" regarding a continuling problem with the driver's side sun visor. the mechanism that holds the visor upright and in an angle position to block the sun is not working and repeatedly drops and droops rather unexpectedly to the point of hindering my ability of driving safely. numerous times while driving on the highway the visor drops and blocks my view several times this has nearly caused an accident. i have talked to the nissan dealer and they say it is not a safety issue, there is no recall infomation and i must replace on my own expense regardless if i have a warranty. i have contacted the dealer i purchased the vehicle from and have not had any solutions other than to pay over $500 to fix the problem. i find this outrageous and danderous. an online search yeilds a large number of other murano owners with the same problem.
Tl* the contact owns a 2005 nissan murano. the contact stated that the front driver's side sun visor constantly flipped downward. the dealer was not notified. the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. the failure mileage was 45,000 and the current mileage was 59,000.
My passenger side sunvisor falls down while i'm driving. *tr
