When fueling vehicle fuel spits back all over handle, vehicle and ground. happens every time fuel is pumped. design flaw that has been ignored by chrysler forever. fix requires fuel tank replacement. *tr
Gasoline overflows while refueling. pump doesn't shut off. it appears to be a common problem with 2005 & 2006 jeep wrangler tj and lj (unlimited). *tr
When refueling the gasoline tank will overflow spilling upwards of a quart of gasoline on the operator, the vehicle and the ground. just in case you didn't know, gasoline is highly flammable! this is a very common problem with jeep wranglers happening to around 90% of them. not only is this an environmental issue but a major safety issue as well. do i expect you to do anything, no. i think its time for a major class action suit against chrysler. if it puts them out of business, so be it. wake up tsa! this is not going away on its own. *tr
I just bought this jeep used. i was filling it up at the gas station waiting for the pump to click off. well, it didn't. the gas spewed out of the filler neck. i thought it might have been a faulty pump. the second time i filled it up, it did it again, at a different station. this time i thought it might be something the previous owner did. it did it again tonight at a third station. i looked up the condition on the internet and low and behold, it is a common issue with my model year. this vehicle is a 2006. we are now in 2014. 8 years after production of this vehicle. why hasn't the manufacture recalled these vehicles for a fix. surely this is a safety concern. gas spewing out of the tank????? come on! *tr
Fuel spillage at the pump. belches gas out after the pump clicks off. *tr
Fuel spills all over, every time i fill the tank. *tr
I was fueling the vehicle and the automatic fuel shut off valve or whatever is inside the fuel tank malfunctioned. fuel ejected from within the fill neck and was propelled onto my face and in my eyes! i have never had this happen with any vehicle i have owned or fueled. i was standing adjacent to my vehicle as most do when getting gas, i heard the gas gurgle like it normally does, the pump clicked off and a second later my eyes were slammed shut and burning. after researching the issue i have come to find that chrysler is aware of this issue and has actually taken steps to correct it in 2007 and newer vehicles. i don't know to what extent that is true but this is a huge hazard. there is some plastic valving within the filler neck that fails to keep fuel within the tank and it is apparently adversely affected by the ethanol mixture in gasoline. that's the explanation on many web sites. i don't care what causes the issue but it is a poor, dangerous design. if it was a freak issue then i ...
Tl* the contact owns a 2006 jeep wrangler. the contact stated that when refueling, the fuel pump would not shut off and caused fuel to spill out from the fuel tank. the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. the manufacturer was not notified. the failure mileage was 31,000. *tr
The gas tank spills every time the jeep is fueled. the neck doesn't respond fast enough that the tank is full and it continues to accept gasoline until it spits gasoline back out of the tank. the gasoline then runs down the quarter panel, onto the ground, and sometimes onto the person filling the tank if they are holding the fueling nozzle. it is not good for the environment or the vehicle. this occurs at every gas station as well. *jb
Gas tank filler overflows or sprays fuel when tank is filled. issue is well documented and has been voluntarily recalled for vehicles model year 2007 and newer. issue is caused by failing valve in filler hose due to high concentrations of ethanol in fuel.
Anytime i fill the gas tank, fuel explodes out of the filler before the gas hose clicks off. causing gas to splash on myself, the ground and my vehicle. i believe its a defect in the jeeps flapper valve. definitely dangerous and i'm surprised it hasn't been recalled yet as it could cause gas to be splashed in the eyes. *tr
Fuel tank overflows at pump station. the vehicle is not able to tell the gas pump that the tank is full or near full. as a result, gas overflows from the filler neck onto the left rear fender, quarter panel and ground. this is unsafe and a recall should be issued by chrysler to fix this. *tr
My 2006 jeep wrangler tj spills fuel when the gas tank is filled completely, enough to cover the rear corner and leave a medium sized puddle underneath the vehicle. i use ethanol free gasoline. the vehicle has not been treated poorly, and all of the components are oem. i've researched this problem in your data base and have found over 300 complaints for my model year alone that match. i've been a firefighter for 12 years, so i know when a problem can be serious, and this is one. i've looked online and there are people hacking in parts from other manufacturers to fix this, however i'm not comfortable with this idea. *tr
While filling up the gas tank, my jeep will frequently spit the fuel back at me when it approaches being full. this almost always results in a significant amount of fuel left on the ground and inside the gas cap area. the gas will also spray all over the vehicle's operator and their clothing. this is definitely a potential fire hazard. a quick search on jeepforum.com reveals that this is a well-known issue among jeep owners. i've found the following threads that reference this exact problem. http://www.jeepforum.com/forum/f9/gas-filling-overflow-problem-645832/ http://www.jeepforum.com/forum/f9/fuel-spilling-while-fueling-no-more-1191442/ http://www.jeepforum.com/forum/f9/trouble-filling-gas-tank-spurts-then-clicks-off-679245/ http://www.jeepforum.com/forum/f9/gas-pours-out-649842/ http://www.jeepforum.com/forum/f9/gas-tank-filler-problem-635636/ http://www.jeepforum.com/forum/f9/gas-explodes-not-fire-all-over-me-when-filling-up-620074/ chrysler has yet to issue a recall on this problem, and after speaking with the dealership, they wanted to charge me to fix it. jeep owners have found that the only way to fix it is to replace the filler tube with non-jeep parts (specifically, a chevy trailblazer). this is absolutely unacceptable. fuel belongs in a gas tank, not on the ground, not on the driver, not sprayed all over the side of the vehicle. *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2006 jeep wrangler. the contact stated that fuel spilled out of the fuel tank after it was filled. the contact took the vehicle to the dealer and was informed that the fuel sensor that controlled the fuel level needed to be replaced. the vehicle had not been repaired. the failure mileage was 80,000 and the current mileage was 89,000. *tr...updated 05/22/13 *bf
