Problems with 2006 Jeep Wrangler FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE

On average, the 2006 Jeep Wrangler starts to “feel” problems with the FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE and its various aspects after 37 836 miles.

Recently reported FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE problems on 2006 Jeep Wrangler

My 06 jeep wrangler rubicon over flows gas at the pump before the pump clicks off. this will be as i am manually fueling (hand still on pump handle). comes gushing out causing fuel to be spilt, gas on paint, and the smell of gasoline on clothes when highly pressurized. *tr

When fueling my 2006 jeep wrangler the gas pump will not shut off and gas sprays from the tank. i have tried several stations and the problem continues. after doing some research i have found many issues similar to mine. the common conclusion is the roll-over antispill valve has gone bad and this part is not replaceable on its own. so it seems that the whole fuel tank needs replacing. it seems this part needs to be recalled as it has a high rate of failure. *tr

When i fuel my tank up at the gas station, the pump doesn't click off. gasoline sprays out and runs down the side of the vehicle onto the ground. *tr

Fuel tank overflows when filling. just purchased vehicle used. vehicle has been filled 6 times at 5 different gas stations and has overflowed on every occasion. taken to dealer and they claim they are unable to reproduce. *tr

Every time i fuel the jeep, gasoline overflows on the jeep and the ground before the automatic nozzle shuts off. *tr

My gas tank will overflow if i am not incredibly careful with the gas nozzle. this has happened repeated times and on one occasion poured gas on my shoes. (i now stand pretty far back whenever i am filling up) it has also poured down the side of the jeep, discoloring the fender and paint, as well as leaving an approximate 1-2 foot puddle of gas on the ground at the gas station. i'd guess about 1/4 to 1/3 gallon of gas will gush out each time it overflows. to fix this (according to chrysler) would cost between $800 and $1000. how is this in any possible way *not* a safety hazard???! *tr

Every time i fill my gas tank full it spills out all over the place. the pump will shut off but fuel shoots out all over the ground and jeep. *tr

When filling vehicle with gas, the fuel sprays back out of the gas filler neck once the tank becomes full. there is no way to predict when this will happen, other than simply not filling up the tank anywhere near full.

Every time i fill up my 2006 jeep wrangler unlimited gas comes spilling back out as the pump cuts off. this started happening this fall and has continued every since. fuel gets all over the side of the jeep, the ground and when not standing clear on my clothes and shoes. this needs to be investigated before someone gets hurt. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2006 jeep wrangler unlimited. the contact stated that after refueling the fuel tank, gasoline fuel would spill back out onto the ground. the vehicle was not inspected by a dealer nor was it repaired. the failure mileage was approximately 34,000.

During fueling of a 2006 jeep wrangler rubicon unlimited, when the fuel pump nozzle automatically stops the flow of gasoline as the fuel tank fills, fuel surges back through the filler tube and vigorously splashes out on the side of the vehicle and anything or person within 2 to 3 feet of the fuel filler. this occurs every time the fuel tank is filled and has drenched the person filling the vehicle from the waist down with gasoline on two occasions. has spilled fuel on every fillup (at least one cup), despite precautions (slowing filling rate). manufacturer and dealer have done nothing to correct this problem. *tr

Gas tank overflows everytime i fill up unless i stop before the tank is full and manually fill the rest of the tank at a very reduced rate. the over flow results in approximately 1 quart of gas being spilled. *tr

I have a 2006 jeep wrangler rubicon and everytime i fill up at the gas station the fuel overflows and comes back out onto the jeep. i don't know what the problem is but its a common occurrence there should be a tsb issued to resolve the problem. *tr

While filling with gas the fuel overfills and spills all over the side of my 2006 jeep wrangler unlimited rubicon and on the ground. this happens every time i fill my tank. *tr

I have a 2006 jeep rubicon. every time i fill it up with gas it overflows out the tank. the gas nozzle want kick off. i only have around 26,000 miles on it and it started about a 1000 miles ago. *tr

Every time i fill up with gas, the auto shutoff doesn't work and spills gas all over my jeep and the ground. it happens regardless of gas station, temperature, how far the nozzle is pushed into the filler, etc. it happens every single time i fill up. it has done this for no apparent reason, since the day i bought it with only 19k miles on it. i checked the vent line going from the tank to the filler neck, and its fine. eventually the gas has started to wear away the paint finish, and the finish on the flare. not to mention a hazardous material spill. *tr

Gas tank overflows every time i fill up at the pump. *tr

Gas tank overflows evertime i fill up regardless of location. *tr

I have a 2006 jeep wrangler rubicon. whenever i fill up, it overflo's. i have no blockage of kinks in the tubing . it has been going on for a while. *tr

I have purchased a used 2006 jeep wrangler from a local dealership around two years ago, and within the past year i have noticed gas gushes out of my fuel tank every time i get fuel. at first i thought it was the gas attendant, as it is illegal in nj to pump your own fuel, however this is now occurring everytime. i am worried my paint will become ruined or my car might catch on fire if it is too hot. i also do not have the means to pump my own gas and i don't need this problem to cause more issues down the road since the spilled gas has already discolored my stock fender flare. i know i am not the only one with this problem and it needs to be looked into because this is a safety issue, and once the gas spills over making everything on the inside reek of fumes. *tr

The fuel system over flows when refueling. it does not matter what gas station or pump. this is a fire safety hazard as well as an environmental hazard. *tr

2006 jeep wrangler x, everytime i fill up at the pump gas will rush out of the filler neck. this wrangler has never been modified and only has 15000 miles on it. of course this is not only a safety issue for myself, but for others at the pumps next to me as well. jeep has not given me an answer to the problem, and does not have a recall. amazing. *tr

Right when the gas pump automatically stops pumping gas, my tank will spew fuel out of the filler tube. *tr

Every time i fill up at the gas station the pump will overflow if i'm filling up the tank. the pump doesn't stop unless i pull the nozzle out at which point gas will spill all over the rear flare and paint. it happens at all gas stations. this is in my opinion a very serious safety issue. it appears chrysler is going to wait for an ignition source to be around for someone to get seriously injured or die before they resolve this. *tr

2006 jeep wrangler -- bought used with less than 30k miles on it. wobble at about 55mph, intermittently. mine was solved by replacing the stabilizer bar, had nothing to do with tires, although the first time it happened, i thought i had blown a tire. gas tank filling -- same problem, the pump doesn't shut off unless you pump the gas slowly. first few times, spewed gas all over the jeep, myself and the pavement. now i listen as the tank fills and slow the fill as i know it's starting towards full. with the slowing, the pump does shut off but it's a good idea to have some idea how much gas the tank will take at certain fuel readings. *tr

Vehicle: 2006 jeep wrangler tj part: fuel tank whenever the tank is filled up the gas spews out from the vehicle. 1. the vehicle is stock, has never been in an accident- the problem just happens. 2. it occurs every time i have to put gas in my vehicle. 3. nothing has been done to correct the failure. *tr

Just purchased a used 06 jeep wrangler in perfect condition with 16000+ miles, took it to fill it up and gas ran out on my first fill up. now i have to estimate how much gas i need and when i get the that amount, i slowly fill the tank to full. (8/100 *tr

When fueling my 2006 jeep wrangler unlimited the fuel spills out the top prior to shutoff. *tr

Everytime i fill my gas tank up, gas explodes out of the filler. if this isn't a safety issue than i don't know what is! *tr

1. fueling the vehicle. 2. when fuelling my 2006 jeep wrangler unlimited, gasoline will abruptly backflow out of the filler neck and spray all over as the tank gets close to being full. it happens so quickly and violently that the auto shutoff on the gas hose does not stop it. this will happen any time i attempt to fill the tank to full. consequences: as a result, i have had gasoline sprayed all over me numerous times including getting it in my eyes. also, gasoline gets all over the side of the vehicle and leaves puddles of gas on the ground creating a fire hazard. i must stop fuelling before the tank is full to prevent this from happening. overall this is a life safety hazard and i feel it needs to be addressed. *tr

When filling the gas tank on my 2006 jeep wrangler x, the tank overflows a few cups of gasoline out of the filler opening after the pump handle shuts off. this results in gasoline pouring onto the pavement and down the side of my jeep - and also sometimes onto my feet! this is now a documented problem with many jeeps, and chrysler should be required to recall and fix this problem immediately! i would not be surprised if gas station owners start banning jeeps from filling up, since the jeeps are causing gasoline to be spilled onto gas station pavement on a regular basis! *tr

Every time i fill the fuel tank on my 2006 jeep wrangler it splashes fuel out upon reaching full. this is not just a little fuel, but a lot. it surges out all down the vehicle and onto the ground. i've contacted my dealer several times about this issue and they say it's a known problem with my type of vehicle and there currently is no fix. they suggest not filling the tank completely full. this is hard to accomplish because there is no way to tell when the tank is getting full. this is a dangerous and environmentally unfriendly problem that needs to be addressed! *tr

Everytime i fill up the jeep with fuel, it shuts off the pump, then overflows fuel onto the side of the jeep and onto the ground. *tr

The gas spills out everytime i fill up. the pump does not click off until gas sprays out of the filler neck. it is not the gas pump because this is an ongoing problem and i fill up and may different places. *tr

Fuel spills while filling up jeep wrangler. after pumping fuel, fuel dumps out of tank inlet and spills on ground. *tr

1. i get low on fuel and need to refuel my wrangler. 2. gas overflows the tank filler tube and spills fuel all over the back of the vehicle, tires, ground, and depending where i am standing, me. it occurs just about every time i fill me vehicle up, at many different stations with different nozzle types. 3. there has been nothing done to correct the problem. *tr

When filling up at the gas station gas spews out of the tank when it nears full splashing everything within a foot of the car including at times myself. this happens each and every time i try to fill up. i always have to try to stop the pump before it's full. if i so choose to try to fill the tank i have to try to listen to determine when the gas might spew back out on me and let me tell you that's definitely not a fool proof method as i've been sprayed with gas numerous times trying this method. if i try to fill the tank and stand away from the tank so as to miss the spray then gas spews everywhere; on the ground, back on the gas pump itself, and down the side of my car; which by the way damages the paint. this is a huge danger not only to myself but to others as well. i can't believe that chrysler offered a recall on other years with the exact same problem but not on this model year. they've acknowledged that this is an issue in their jeeps so why not offer a recall on all years with this problem? i'm sorely disappointed that chrysler cares so little for their customers safety and even the safety of the general public since they could be affected by the spewing gas as well. we shouldn't have to pay for a manufacturer's defect. *tt

Gas tank overflows when refueling, resulting in approximately 8 to 24 ounces of gasoline spilling outside of the tank, down the side of the jeep and on to the person filling the tank. this is a recurring issue that happens to varying degrees each time the jeep is refueled. *tr

After filling gas tank, pressure built up sprays at least a cup of gas out of the filler neck. happens every time the tank is filled to the automatic stop point at gas stations. sprays person operating gas pump, pours gas down rear fender. to correct failure i have stopped filling my tank, only buying gas in smaller increments. *tr

Gas pumps do not properly shut off and overflow of fuel is spilled onto the ground. i have read that this is a problem with the gas tank design of many different types of jeep wranglers but chrysler refuses to acknowledge the problem. *tr

Every time i fill up my gas tank the pump doesn't shut off and it overfills the tank causing fuel to spill everywhere. it doesn't matter which pump or gas station i use it happens every time. the solution is unknown to fix the problem. *tr

Gas tank overfills and spills on ground at fill up. *tr

On 2006 jeep wrangler the fuel overflows at every fuel up. fuel sprays out after the nozzle auto shut off clicks off, approx 1-2 seconds. this is clearly a defect in design of the tanks internal flapper valve. *tr

Gasoline splash back from filler neck when filling tank. this occurs every time tank is filled.

The gas tank overflows at the pump, every time that i fill up the tank. this started about a year ago and is not related to anyone gas station. *tr

While putting gas in my '06 jeep wrangler sport, the tank over filled, causing gas to come out of the filler neck. this has happened to me a few times with in the past couple of weeks. incident has occurred at various gas stations and while using older and newer pumps. *tr

My 2006 rubicon has a problem with gas overflowing every time i fill up. starting to become a big problem. waste of money and not helping the environment. issue needs to be recalled and resolved,. *tr

When i fueled the vehicle and it became full, the fuel would spray back out of the filler spout as the nozzle shut off automatically. it has continued doing this until present. i asked the dealership where i bought the vehicle at about the problem. they did not know what was causing the problem. they said they could take the tank off and check it out but i would have to pay for it. i decided to just put up with it. i listen to the fuel as i fill it and shut it off manually when it sounds like it is about full. this keeps it from spraying fuel back out the filler neck most of the time. *tr

When refueling vehicle, gas pump auto-shut-off fails and gasoline spills out filler neck onto rear panel and ground. depending on handle setting, spill is either backsplash or just overflow, but always spills. *tr

Every time i fill my fuel tank without metering the fuel the last gallon, the shut-off valve fails and fuel pours out of the filler neck onto the ground, jeep, and myself if i'm close enough. *tr
