Early oct. my vehicle started to have a issue with starting. so i just ignored it for a few weeks as time went on it got worse and worse. so on october 30th i did some research. found that it was a tipm problem i was occurring. mind you i am mechanically incline i do work for a car company and fix cars all day. so on oct 31st i took it to suburban chrysler in troy mi. they did 2 recalls and said you have a tipm issue. ok covered under warranty? nope! $1190.00 to fix. i state to the service advisor [xxx], there is a recall for the same issue. he states it dose not apply to your vehicle. i state i don't understand. but there is a fix can i have my vehicle repaired the same way. he states no. so i need to buy a whole tipm where others just get a bypass? they state yes. f*** that. i remove my vehicle from there. i call chrysler for any kind of support. nothing. no assistance. no words of advice. i tell them, how do i drive my car if it stalls or wont start. sorry cant help you. am i supposed to drive my car? they cant tell me if i can drive my car. that up to me they state. so there not sure if i should drive or not. over the weekend i contemplated about where to take my vehicle to get fixed. i guess ill pay $1190 monday goes by. i get home and sure enough a recall notice in my mail. you mean to tell me they did not know 3 days earlier? they just wanted me to pay $1190. so his commission check is nice. i know how it works. little did they know i was a service advisor for chrysler for over a year!!!! now its 11/21 and my vehicle did not start this morning due to the fuel pump running all night.... now if the fuel pump burns out do they replace that under the recall? there is a trick. if it runs when the vehicle is off. open the hood and slap the fuse box and it will turn off. ...

I received a recall notice for the totally integrated power module for my 2011 jeep grand cherokee in october 2014. the vehicle now struggles to start almost every time it is prompted to. it usually takes two or three attempts to successfully start after it makes a sort of rev type of noise and even produces an odor which is smelt on the outside of the vehicle. the dealership has told me that the part to correct the issue is currently unavailable, and when it does become available, there are over 20 people ahead of me on the waiting list to be repaired. the recall states that the issue could cause the car to stall unexpectedly which makes me fearful for my, and others, safety being that i drive on the interstate everyday. *tr

After reading many other complaints i see that my vehicle seems to also be suffering from a faulty tipm. my first attempt to start the car most days is met with what seems to be a lack of fuel but every other attempt to start the car the same day is successful without incident. there is no consistent time, speed or temperature related to what happens when the car is traveling. the dashboard lights up, radio, a/c, turn signals and headlights turn off and seat belt alert sounds. only once has vehicle lost power briefly. when i first purchased this vehicle in 2012 the dealer cold not find the source of the problem. now it is happening much more frequently but before i take it to the dealer and pay for the tipm i want to verify that it is a recall item. another issue that began recently is the front passenger door would not close if opened from the inside unless we pull the exterior handle twice. i was told that this was not covered and would cost around $600. *tr

My 2011 jeep grand cherokee overland 5.7l has not starting multiple times. other symptoms include intermittent rough idle after starting, sputtering/missing when accelerating and uphill, and intermittent failing to shift at high rpm. dealer proposing to install starter/fuel module relay which chrysler has made due to "amount of people with this problem" but quoting me $410 for the repair. no definitive diagnosis that this will fix all the symptoms. advised by dealer to not drive vehicle until problem is fixed as the truck can stall or turn off at any time resulting in a serious safety risk. this is a very dangerous problem!!! *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2011 jeep grand cherokee. the contact stated that while traveling 25 mph attempting to exit an off ramp, the vehicle stalled without warning. the contact was able to restart the vehicle. the vehicle was included in recall nhtsa campaign id number: 14v530000 (fuel propulsion system) but the dealer indicated that the part was not available. the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired by the dealer and was waiting for the part to remedy the intermittent failure. the vin was not available. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 53,000.

Multiple times the car had an extended start, would spin but not start. electronics would lock down and unable to turn off the spin. the dealership replaced the fuel relay external relocation kit. *tr

Jeep hard to start when engine is cold due to faulty tipm and fuel relay. jeep will attempt to start, but will not turn over. jeep loses throttle and dies at idle. *tr

While driving the abs, and tracking lights came on. made it home , and notice that the fuel pump continued to run when the ignition was turned off. started the jeep back up , and the brake pedal went to the floor. had jeep towed to thd dodge dealership. estimated cost, 1,300. *tr

Vehicle would not start. dealer replaced fuel pump relay, mentioned many people were having this issue and that chrysler may have/need to recall so keep receipt. suspect it may be the tipm. *tr

There is a known issue and recall with the tipm failing. my car has the same issues. starting issues and engine will at times just die while driving. my wife had the car stop right in the middle of an active intersection. the dealership has diagnosed this as the problem but when i call chrysler they say my car is not included in the recall. cost will be over $1,000 to fix. my car is now dangerous and i never know when it will start or not. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2011 jeep grand cherokee. the contact stated that the vehicle failed to start on the first attempt. the contact had to wait several minutes before the vehicle could be restarted. when the vehicle restarted, there was a strong fuel odor. the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. the manufacturer was not notified of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 57,000.

My vehicle has been having difficulty starting. it sometimes takes 3-10 times to start. it sometimes doesn't start at all, leaving me stranded with an infant in tow. i had the problem diagnosed and was informed of a temporary repair to the problem but then learned of an upcoming recall for the tipm. i decided to wait on repairing the issue, unsure as to whether the fix prescribed by the dealer would be reimbursed once the recall was released. i just got an 'initial' recall notice which stated that there still was no repair for this problem - even though it was said to be the cause of potential crashes and stalls mid-drive. as i have a small child in the car with me every time i drive, i am extremely cautious and nervous about this issue and the risk i am taking by continuing to drive this vehicle without a repair. i bought this car specifically because of the safety it would provide my family in transportation. now i am acutely aware of the dangers involved and the need for a fix immediately. *tr

I parked the car in the garage and heard a noise. after searching the whole car, the fuel pump was stuck on. i turned car on and off thinking it would reset and it did not. i had to pull the fuse to turn off the pump. i took it to the dealer and was told that the tipm was bad and will cost $1500.00 to replace. *tr

Vehicle would not crank over when attempted to start. after several attempts, vehicle eventually started. flash updates were previously performed on the vehicle to address this issue; however, updates did not prevent issue. dealership diagnosed problem as faulty tipm. tipm replaced. *tr

On august 14, 2014 my 2011 jeep grand cherokee would not start. over the next two weeks the starting issued got continually worse. the day i took it into the shop to have looked at it took 8 to 12 times to start. the vehicle will crank but not start. the technician performed diagnostic testing and found no fuel pressure when not starting. technician found fuel pump not being turned on when key is turned. technician installed a relay overlay harness for tipm circuit. diagnosis - faulty tipm. *tr

When pressing start button, engine cranks for about 8 seconds and won't fire. can press start button again, sometimes starts on 2nd or 3rd try, sometimes not until the 6th try. problem progressed to a condition where the engine was running, but sputtered and did not want to stay running. was able to drive vehicle home since it wasn't far away. tow truck has taken jeep to the dealer and am waiting for part to arrive from new york but have been told it may not be available. parts and labor are not covered by warranty, dealer states that gas tank needs to be removed for the repair. *tr

Had a problem starting the vehicle. took it to the dealer on 8/27. was told it could be the tpim and/or fuel pump. parts are ordered, but they have no idea of when they'll arrive. now i'm in a rental. *tr

Vehicle was traveling on highway at 55 mph when it suddenly stalled in traffic. could not restart after pushing to side of road. towed to dealer and told that total integrated power module had failed and needed to be replaced. *tr

Several attempts were made throughout the day to start my 2011 grand jeep cherokee and it would not start, only a clicking noise. i took it to the dealer immediately and the tipm is bad and needs to be replaced. obviously, my car is only 3 years old and not under warranty now. the part alone is over $900.00, which seems questionable that something would go bad so quickly on a vehicle and cost so much to repair. besides the cost, there are so many complaints for the same issue, and even more serious with the engine cutting off while driving. is someone going to recall this item before someone gets hurt or even killed????? i purchased this vehicle, and all my previous chrysler/jeep vehicles thinking they were safe for my family; now i'm not so sure. do the right thing and recall the tipm! in addition, i have made several attempts to get the brake booster repaired due to the recall and the parts are still not in. this has been going on for months now. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2011 jeep grand cherokee. the contact received a notification for nhtsa campaign id number: 14v530000 (fuel propulsion system), nhtsa campaign id number: 14v391000 (electrical system), nhtsa campaign id number: 14v154000 service brakes, service brakes, hydraulic). however, the parts needed were not available. the dealer was unable to provide a specific date for when the part would become available. the manufacturer was contacted and could not provide an estimated date for when the vehicle would receive the recall repair. the contact did not experience a failure.

The tipa is defective and the fuel pump won't turn on, therefore my car is unable to start. i have to pay $1300 to repair this as the car is now out of warranty. i have done research and learning this is an extremely common defect in the jeeps. *tr

I started having issues with my 2011 jeep grand cherokee in late july/ early august where the vehicle would have issues starting. i replaced the batteries in the key fob, but it didn't solve the problem. i took it into the dealership as the problems had continued and increased. i informed them that i had read about the issues with the tipm, but they disregarded my concern and told me that the computer was not reading the keys and i needed to order new ones, which i did. not even a week later, i brought it back to the dealership as it was giving me the same problems of not starting. he said that they would not be able to do anything if i could not recreate it, so i kept driving it knowing that it may or may not start. yesterday, 10/28 the fuel pump would not turn off and caused the battery to drain. i had to call roadside assistance and took it to the dealership the following morning as the problem was still occurring. today they told me that it was indeed the tipm that was faulty and that it needed to be replaced. *tr

About 6 months ago, my engined began stalling while driving without any warning. finally my car would not start up and required towing. throughout this time, abnormal noises could be heard from the starter. the dealer tried to repair it by replacing the chrysler jeep tafn kit and charged me $1,361 for the service. but the car was still not repaired and working properly since it continued stalling while driving particularly on the highway, not accelerating, showing the electronic stabilizer light going on along with no power, and emitting screeching noises when turned on. again i took the car to the same dealer and the mechanic claimed that it "might be cam sensor" and charged me again ($324) for a repair service that had no impact except to make the situation worse. so the car is still not repaired or functioning and continues to exhibit the same problems describe above. in november of this year, i received a recall (p54) notice from chrysler about a fuel pump relay problem that described the problems i have been having with my car which led me to believe that the dealership could make the necessary repairs; but you can see, this did not happen. in its recall message, chrysler recommended that i contact you if my dealer has failed or has been unable to remedy this defect without charge. my complaint is two fold: the defect has not been remedied and the dealer keeps charging me for each service repair visit. *dt

On july 19, 2014 my vehicle ceased to start properly. it would turn over and over and after several attempts would finally start. additionally, there were several incidents of stalling at a stop sign or exiting the freeway then difficulty restarting. this became more and more frequent, and each time my mechanic was unable to pinpoint the cause. september 4th is the last day that my car started. i had it towed to the mechanic who after having possession of my vehicle for 3 weeks unable to pinpoint the issue, found through research that chrysler had announced a massive recall for this exact issue. he referred me to the chrysler recall specialist phone number, which i called immediately. my first four phone calls were nothing more than a run around game until i found the information on nhtsa website. according to the nhtsa recall information, repairs were set to begin 10/25/14. according to chrysler, the notices were set to go out by mail on 10/31/14 the gentleman assured me that i would also receive an email recall notification to provide the repairing dealer on 10/31/14. i make an appointment at rancho jeep for recall p54 repair at 10am november 1. 10/31/14, 3pm, i have yet to receive an email notification. i call chrysler again and am now told that i had been misinformed, it is a preliminary notice, no repairs can be done. my jeep is still nonoperational, since september 5, 2014. the vehicle cannot be repaired because there are no parts to replace the faulty part with...i have had a rental car for almost 3 months because of this recall issue, costing nearly $800 each month. chrysler refuses to accommodate a replacement vehicle or reimburse rental expense wholly or partially. my vehicle would be operational if not for this factory recall p54, and i would not have incurred $2400 rental car expense to date. *tr

My wife was driving the vehicle across a busy intersection, an intersection where 2 lanes merge into one on the far side. she was in the through lane, the left lane. our vehicle lost all engine power. cars were merging from the right and no one could comprehend that our vehicle was in a failure mode. with engine not running, and bells ringing which no idea why the bells, the power-steering was inoperative and the brakes were very ineffective. she was trying to get the vehicle off to the side of the road, without hitting anyone or being hit. somehow, she avoided an accident. she's a very small in stature person and it took all she had to steer and stop this 5200 pound jeep. after letting the jeep sit, it started up after multiple attempts and we went directly to the jeep dealership. they plugged in a code-reader, found no codes, and sent us on our way. they would not provide us with a repair work order so we have no paper work. they know what's wrong but are avoiding the issue. it's the tipm! this issue has continued to occur and the fuel pump isn't running when in the failure mode. sometimes the horn blows by itself! we've had the wipers not function and the window not roll up. the vehicle is haunted. what does it take for a recall nhtsa? *tr

Tipm computer board/module defect...known defect to the manufacturer (poor part product with high chance of failure). jeep stalled out on road several times with kids in car...part is on a national backorder and still no recall for owners. *tr

Jeep gc2011 stalls whiling driving. ongoing since 2012; mechanics have done a lot of service and repair very costly out of my pocket expences but has not fixed the stalling. says it maybe the alternator, throttle or ignition problem. the 2011 model should be included in the chrysler recall #t36 (nhtsa #17v435).

Chrysler is still not making this part available to dealers so that it can be installed. this part can fail without warning and cause the engine to stall while in motion. my dealer is ready and willing to replace this relay, but it is not yet in production. *tr

Car made grinding sound when starting. wouldn't start. tipm failed causing fuel pump to burn out . also had to replace ignition switch. *tr

Car was shut off, locked and parked in motel parking lot. 45 minutes later, call was made to room that it had rolled across lot, down a hill and crashed into a tanker truck which was refueling @ a gas station. car was running and in drive. i am doubly sure car had been shut off, placed in park, and locked securely. weather had been extremely hot that day (+100 degrees). *tr

Vehicle began experiencing sporadic and intermittent hard crank starts as well as partial stalling while traveling. when placing the key/push button to the "on" position, the fuel pump would engage, but was quickly followed by a "click" noise, which shutoff the fuel pump. eventually, after 6-12 attempts, the fuel pump would engage long enough to allow the vehicle to start. while traveling, rpms would suddenly drop, typically while braking/slowing from traveling. after progressively getting worse and more consistent, vehicle taken to dealership. initial diagnosis was a failing fuel pump. upon further investigation, it was determined that the electrical relay to the fuel pump, a part of the tipm, was shorting and prematurely failing. a bypass relay was re-wired and seems to have corrected the problem. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2011 jeep cherokee. the contact received a notification for nhtsa campaign number: 14v53000 (fuel system). however, the part to perform the repair was unavailable. the contact stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. the manufacturer was made aware of the issue. the contact had not experienced a failure.

I have received 3 recall notices regarding my 2011 jeep grand cherokee (nhtsa 14v154, 14v530 and 14v391). after receiving notice 14v154 i contacted the local dealership (larry h miller in boise idaho) and was informed that the parts were back ordered with no date when parts would be available. this information was repeated in september. having now received 3 recalls i attempted to schedule to have all 3 resolved at the same time. however, when i tried to schedule a service, i'm told that, while parts are available, they will not order the parts until i bring my vehicle in first. when i asked why they stated that they needed the vin number. however, they not only have my vehicle information on record and i had the vin available during the call. i asked to complete the service order on the phone and was told it was "policy" to schedule service appointments only when the vehicle is present and only then will they order parts. this dealership has exceeded the reasonable amount of time to complete the repairs and is creating an unreasonable barrier to completing the services. *tr

I've been receiving recall notices on a jeep i purchase last february (used) on recalls p14, p36 and p54. i continuously call jeep to have these issues repaired and am told the parts are not available, jeep hasn't shipped or they just have too many recalls. how do i get my recalls fixed before i do have a crash?? i am concerned. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2011 jeep grand cherokee. the contact stated that the push button start was not functioning properly. the failure progressed to the point that the vehicle stalled several times and also would not start. the contact had to tow the vehicle several times due to the intermittent failure. the fuel pump sensor and the service engine sensor illuminated. the vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer who replaced the fuel pump, but the failure recurred. the dealer also reset the sensors more than twice and they still illuminated. the dealer suggested an interim fix of filling the fuel halfway. the vehicle was included in nhtsa campaign number: 14v530000 (fuel propulsion system); however, the part was not available to repair the vehicle. the contact was also waiting for two other recalls to be performed, but the parts were not available for nhtsa campaign numbers: 14v39100 (visibility) and 14v154000 (service brakes). the contact was waiting for an appointment to remedy all three recall repairs. the manufacturer was notified of the failures. the failure mileage was not available.

Earlier this year i started experiencing starting difficulties with my jeep. while pressing the start button, the ignition would run but not turn over. eventually it would start. however, over the summer the problem became worse and on occasion the vehicle would not start and when it did it would stall out. i took it to the dealer on 8/23/2014 and they were able to replicate the problem. they called me and said i had a bad fuel pump and it needed to be replaced at a price of $1,300. while the jeep was in the shop, i started doing an online search of my problem and discovered the problem that a huge number of people were having - a bad tipm. on 8/26/2014 i went in to pick up the vehicle and noticed on my receipt that they replaced the tipm and not the fuel pump. i presented my research with the service tech and said since this is definitely a design flaw with this vehicle, this should either be covered under warranty or recall. he said that he had no authority to do this and i was forced to pay $1,233.42 to retrieve my vehicle. i have now been made aware of a recall for this problem wherein the remedy will be to replace the fuel pump relay with one external to the tipm at no charge. since my problem was resolved prior to this recall i am expecting a reimbursement of the $1,233.42 that i have already paid. *tr

Bought a used jeep grand cherokee 2011 w/ 19k miles on it (it was leased before). first incident happened with 30k miles on it. vehicle would turn over a little bit but would not start. dealership said fuel pump was bad, running after vehicle turned of then didn't get power when turning it on. dealership replaced fuel pump, went to pick it up from dealership and it wouldn't start. second trip (within 2-3 days) to dealership it started up. worked fine for about 4-5 weeks, then same incident occurred again. vehicle would turn over but not start up, sounded the exact same as the prior issue. dealership replaced the tipm, car worked fine for about 12 months. two weeks ago, the same issue came about. car turning over but not starting. this time the dealership replaced my key fob and it worked for 1 day, then the same issue occurred. now my jeep is sitting at another dealership and they have replaced the wiring to the fuel pump and now they are in the process of replacing another fuel pump. i heard today that they fuel pump is replaced but still not getting power to it (tipm problem again). chrysler wants me to pay a deductible for an obviously faulty part that they have replaced again. this last time when i brought my jeep to the dealer i tried to start the vehicle to let me father hear the noise it was making. a dealership service technician walked by hearing the noise it made and asked, "is it a 2011?", i replied, "yes", he followed up by saying that model and year has had a recurring problem with the tipm, which from what i have read online is extremely dangerous, especially if the car were moving and it went out. you would be left without power steering and brakes. chrysler has made a product that is faulty and realizes it, yet they still charge customers to replace the faulty parts. *tr

While driving in outerbanks, nc. the vehicle decided to shut the 4x4 system off and lower suspension completely, all while driving. my new born son, wife and 4yr old daughter in the vehicle and we are stranded. paid for towing and after towed the vehicle goes back to normal with no maintenance. upon returning home vehicle randomly shuts off while in motion, will not start or fuel pump randomly runs and now way to shut off. after some research i am finding this is a common problem with the tipm in these vehicles. you are not able to get the parts as they are on back order and nothing is being done to the manufacturer. who do we complain to if this happens while my children are in the car and there is an accident. this seems like this will be the only way something is going to be done about this issue. *tr

Several times, engine stalled during commute in heavy traffic. fule pump continued to run after engine was shut off. *tr

There have been multiple occurrences. while driving down the road at the speed limit, all of a sudden the speed drops to 38 mph and the vehicle will go no faster. you can not accelerate beyond 38 mph, unless you pull over to the side of the road and shut the vehicle off. then when you start the vehicle back up it is ok.
