We have classified the 47 complaints from 2006 Jeep Commander about EXTERIOR LIGHTING into the following categories.
Takata recall as i was driving my car on the four lane my car started to have white rubber smelling smoke fill the car and all my dash lights went crazy, my radio kicked off and my speakers and my turn signals quit working. i started to panic and stopped on the side of the rode. i had my kids in the car so i first removed my children then tried to find the problem. at this point my car was completely full of smoke n it like as if it was burning down. my wiring in the cars passenger side rear floor board had caught on fire ! the fire burnt through my floor and my floor mats. i almost choked to death on the smoke and had to take the battery out of the car to kill the power and dump water on the floor.
Vehicle was sold with no lights in back, including break and reverse lights, broken seat belts in back seats and one back seat that does not fold down which blocks rear view, and finally with bald tires that needed to be replaced immediately. the lights were supposedly fixed by the dealership's repair shop but after only a few weeks the lights were not working. the seat belts were supposed to be replaced and we were told that replacements were ordered but the dealership never called back to confirm that they arrived and ready for installation, they still have not been replaced. we were told that the tires and seat folding down were not safety issues and had to replace the tires ourselves. the seat still does not fold down and the lights on the back of the vehicle still don't stay on.
Takata recall my jeep commander has been nothing but trouble since i purchased it i have had all the recalls done by my local jeep dealership and still have to constantly replace wheel speed (abs) sensors and reprogram the computer. at low speeds off aproxamitly 15-20 mph i loose power like the vehicle is trying to starve itself from fuel affecting accelerate so if you pull out into a intersection it practically dies and the. when you go to brake the pedal gets hard and the vehicle keeps rolling i have to replace all 4 wheel sensor (abs) and get computer reprogrammed for it to stop costing hundreds of dollars to do over the time that i have owned the vehicle i have learned to perform such task on my own . but i am sick and tired of every summer having to buy 4 50 dollar sensors and getting charged 125 dollars to redo the computer and not to mention when the jeep decides to act up it put my child and mother to my child in serious danger never knowing when it will misfunction again and like many others i am upside down on the payments of the vehicle due to all the money invested.
I purchased the vehicle in 2010 and within a month some electrical issues were intermittently occurring. the dealer said the ignition had to be replaced and did so. these problems seemed to continue thought not often. the symptoms are as follows-first the lights start flickering and then go out. all of the dash components go out including the speedometer, fuel gage, radio etc. the ac fan also turned off. this condition did not stop the vehicle from running it just turned off the electrical components there was however a problem with stalling, a separate issue from the electrical issue., a few times while in the vehicle was stopped it would stall when stopping or starting off again. this was true in reverse and forward. i was never really worried about safety until last night when the lights went out while driving on a dark curvy country road. it was only for a few seconds but it was terrifying. this issue needs to be dealt with. in 2015 there were several recalls issued and they seemed to be related to the problems i was having. i had all of the recall notices dealt with. the software upgrades and the ignition replacement. this didn't solve the problem. in fact it
2006 jeep commander with 93000. i have had serviced multiple times over brakes and suspension. brakes will just grind when trying to stop at times. brakes have been replaced and problem still occurs. every mechanic has said everything looks good. had bigotires do 3 inspections on brakes and suspension and everything checked out! suspension- i have had services 3 times. all new parts have been put on front drivers side yet problem still persist. popping noise and squeaking when turning and hitting speed bumps or pot holes and very noisy when backing up. lighting has also started to go off and on! i believe something is wrong with the lighting. sometimes when i turn them on they do not come on and once i turned them off and they did not turn off and made battery go dead but once jumps they were back to normal except my back tail light which i have tried having replaced multiple times does not work anymore and front passenger side head light has some major issues! also it is very hard to see when it rains even with brand new wipers there just wasn't much thought put into the commanders! too many blind spots and also door handles on the inside easily break off!
My jeep upon being on the highway and in the right lane suddenly slowed down to the point of stalling and i had to bring the car to the side of the road and began shutting it off when coincidently the the light went on in the roof of the car and my headlight dimmed. i called the jeep place for an oil change and they diagnoised the car and did a recall on the ignition switch and told me the powertrain transfer case is bad and thermostat leaking from the housing and 4 wheel drive failed. i have never used the 4 wheel drive as i recently purchased the car at the end of april and own it for just 7 months. they said it will cost me over $750.00 dollars to be fixed. i called chrysler and they said my vehicle is not included however on your web site nhtsa campain# 13v175000 seems to apply to my diagnoised problems. i love my car but this is a defect in manufacturing and not something that i have done. the previous owner had this car constantly maintained at executive jeep in north haven ct. i want my car fixed at chrysler's cost not mine. i drive my car with my grandchildren in it and now feel it is unsafe.. please help me. i have all records for the car and the diagnostic information should you need it. i also have howard the manager at jeep phone #.
When driving car at night the dash lighting and the head lights went dark for 5 minutes and came back on, driver had to pull over and almost caused an accident due to no lighting. this has happened 3 times in the past 3 weeks very concerning. headlights and dash lighting should not go bad before the power train on any car built ever.thank god the person driving was calm enough to handle the distraction.
As i was driving down the road my automobile turned off and stopped working while driving! this is very dangerous and is very ridiculous considering i received a recall notice over 1 year ago concerning this problem. i make every attempt to ensure the functions of my vehicle are running properly for the safety of my family. i have young children and they could have been seriously injured had we been involved in an accident at the time of my vehicle's failure to operate correctly, due to the manufacturers irresponsibility of taking care of this problem within a proper time frame! jeep and local dealers have been contacted multiple times to try to correct this problem, with no help from them it has yet to be repaired!
1.it leaks. whenever there is rain i have 2-3 inches of water in the front foot area on both sides. in addition to that water leaks through the lining and front pillars of the truck landing on the dashboard. what is this about? this not only results in my time to drain out the water it also leads to a gross musty smell. after a rain i can hear the water swishing back and forth in ht roof of my car. this is rediculous. further this issue has done something to the electrical system. 2.the electrical system. the driver's side door window/lock/mirror switches no longer work. so that means that the driver's side window hasn't been down in forever. that makes life quite difficult. the next electrical problem is that for no apparent reasons lights come on. as i driving the interior lights just start to shine bright all of them at the same time. one night i woke up at three in the morning to find my headlights on. i tried to turn them off but couldn't. it eventually wore the battery out. lastly electronics wise is my dashboard lights flicker crazy. 3.the door handles. behind the actual door handle is plastic. this has all broken away. i am sure it is just a matter of time before i can open the doors at all. 4.it just stops running. five times now as i am driving (streets or highway) the truck has just shut down. fortunately it starts right back up but this is extemely dangerous. this form asks for dates...all of this is ongoing.
Driving at night the headlights would flash on an off
Just as i was slowing down to 30 mph to enter a parking lot the entire dashboard lit up and then all lights faded and turned off. the ac turned off and the radio turned off. the car still continued driving but the power steering was gone, causing the car to shake and jolt mid turn. the brakes weren't working as they normally would resulting in a very dangerous situation had any other car been close to me at the time. i took it to my mechanic right away and he tested everything, including the alternator and the battery. everything was functioning at 100% capacity and he couldn't find a reason for the check engine light to be on. this has happened 3 more times. i am unable to drive the vehicle in fear that it will break down or my family or another driver.
Tl* the contact owns a 2006 jeep commander. when the vehicle was started, the headlights and the tail lights became inoperable without warning. in addition, the instrument panel failed to operate. the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the vehicle was operating as designed. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the failure mileage was 160,000.
While driving home from work i noticed my truck was slowing down without me applying the brakes and once i did apply the brakes i was informed i had only one brake light working. at that time i immediately went to a part store to have the fuses check and i purchased more bulbs and found out that was not the problem. the service department informed me that this was electrical problem not even the new bulbs worked and the fuses were good as well. i purchased this vehicle in october 2014 from drive time of columbus, ga and was not informed of the recall. the carfax associated with this vehicle did not mention any defects as a matter of fact the carfax listed this vehicle as almost perfect. i have contact chrysler regarding this matter and they too let me know this problem was part of the recall but they are not able to correct the problem because they do not have the parts and it is may 2015. now i am driving a truck that is really not safe. i spoke with the dealership where i purchase the truck without any resolution. they are only concerned with the payments., can something be done? can this dealership be made to give me my money back i have spent on this truck or give me another vehicle which i afraid to trust anyone at this point. your advice would be greatly appreciated. thank you
The instrument cluster reset 3 times and the head lights went out at the same time. it was night time when this occured. the road was smooth with no apparent bumps. *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2006 jeep commander. while operating the vehicle, the light switch malfunctioned and caused the headlights to intermittently shut off. the driver had to hold the light switch to allow the light to remain illuminated. when touching the ignition key, the driver would receive an electrical shock while operating the vehicle. the cause of the failure was not diagnosed or repaired. the manufacturer was not notified. the failure mileage was 80,000.
Tl* the contact owns a 2006 jeep commander. the contact stated that the headlights would not illuminate. the contact received notification of nhtsa campaign number: 14v438000 (electrical system); however, the part to do the repair was unavailable. the contact stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. the manufacturer was made aware of the issue. the approximate failure mileage was 81,000. updated 09/18/15*lj the consumer would not drive at night due to the lights being inoperable. updated 3/23/16 *js updated 12/06/2017*cn
Below is what i sent to jeep. i have their respondents in my email. i can proved as requested. this correspondence is to document my concern with the safety of my jeep commander; year 2006, make ltd, vin [xxx]. there is an electrical issue that is causing various components of the vehicle to malfunction. examples of these episodes are the following: the a/c cutting in and out, the dashboard flickering on and off, the speedometer flickering radically up and down, the audio center turning on and off, headlights to flicker, the turning signals to not correctly operate.? i recently replaced the audio unit because the malfunction caused the unit to blow. the problem has been occurring since 2012; initially the occurrences were rare but have been increasing in consistence and escalating since then.i tried addressing the issue on 6.12.2012 at chapman scottsdale autoplex.the problem continued. i tried readdressing 05.01.2014 at chapman scottsdale autoplex. i have incurred direct cost of approximately $275 and have supporting documentation to support. chapman scottsdale autoplex is stating that i need to replace a dimmer switch for a cost of $229.00. i am not confident that is will resolve the issue and neither is the dealership. i originally purchased the vehicle at royal gate dodge chrysler jeep, inc. on 04.24.2009. i believe this issue is a matter that the manufacture should address and resolve. these occurrences are not routine maintenance items. i would prefer to address this matter without filing a formal correspondence to national highway traffic safety administration. i will be providing a copy of this correspondence to my attorney [xxx] & for record purposes. please respond to this correspondence within seven business of receipt. i look forward to resolving this matter. information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6). *tr
All the light on my dash board have been flickering on and off for the past two months. it does not seem to affect my engine however it will completely take all gauges to zero while i am driving. i drove it last night and when it happened it killed my all my lights. i can hear a clicking sound when the flickering happens. it doesn't click continuously but enough to make me very uneasy. *tr
I cannot "safely" drive my vehicle as the car goes into neutral on it's own? there have been many a times that i have been on the highway traveling 55 mph or more and all of a sudden, the car would slightly jerk and then loose complete power. i would step on the accelerator but no change, i would simply pull off to the side of the highway. wait a few minutes and eventually the car would start up again? the headlights and interior lights go off and on? the face plate to the radio system gets hot? and has affected the illumination of the dashboard instrumental lighting? this is not a vin thing but a jeep commander thing? such an attractive vehicle with so many many issues? safety issues. and the company has yet to fulfill the recalls? its been more than a year? dealers keep telling the consumers, the part isn't available yet? i need to be able to drive to work, this has cost me additional money to buy a reliable vehicle to get me to work. i paid over $35,000 for it, and meanwhile it sits in the garage. a lot of money for your average joe to fork out. who's going to force the manufacturer to honor the recall?
Tl* the contact owns a 2006 jeep commander. while driving various speeds, the entire instrument panel illuminated and the headlights dimmed. the vehicle was taken to the dealer for diagnostic testing, but the results were unavailable. the manufacturer was notified. the vin was unknown. the approximate failure mileage was 93,200.
I have had my 2006 jeep commander for a year and in that time period i have had a consistent problem. when i am driving the vehicle i will randomly lose power to the instrument panel, windows , windshield wipers and almost everything electrical. the engine will continue to run but if it happens at night i lose interior lights dash lights i can't see how fast i am going due to the panel not working. i have had it to the mechanic and he insists it has something to do with the ignition switch. i know a recall has been issued for a separate ignition problem but after reading online and seeing many other reports just like mine i,believe there is another issue to be handled. this problem is also making it impossible to get the vehicle inspected because when it acts up it cause the check engine light to come on and has to be reset. then before all sensors have reset it occurs again. i have spent a small fortune is gas trying to get lucky to be able to pass inspection. *tr
All lights on the dash flip off and on in succession and the odometer and tachometer drop to 0 while maintaining speed. highbeams and headlights also seem to be effected. happened first on december 31 and has continued happening since this time at random times. *tr
While driving - usually at night and at all speeds my headlights will flicker like a strobe light and then go off completely, including the interior lights as well indicating my speed, etc.. sometimes i can use my high beams to at least be able to see, however, even sometimes this does not work. very, very dangerous to not be able to see or be seen at night in random places on the freeway, in the city, etc....please someone help - dealer states that they have no clue as to what the problem might be!! another problem, i have been dealing with, is the air conditioner in the vehicle will stop and not blow any air. i took it to the dealership and they stated that they did not have the part to fix my car. on top of that they gave me a piece of my car that apparently fell off, while they were inspecting it??!!?? they told me it was not their fault and that it is a faulty piece called the housing which is part of the inlet housing and that it would cost $1,156.38 to fix. unbelievable! *tr
While driving along a secondary road at night, the head lights and dashboard lights went off suddenly with out warning flickering on and off several times before coming back on.this has repeated it self several times. *tr
Dash lights and gauges began flickering and on / off. eventually over a period of months, all vehicle lights began occasional going on and off completely. this included head lights, tail lights, dash lights. began doing this more and more often. do a lot of mechanical work myself. saw that this was a fairly common problem with jeeps as reported on the internet. cause was a faulty light control switch on the steering column. bought a new control arm/switch for about $130. and installed it myself. problem appears to be repaired now. should be a safety recall for these switches in losing all inside and outside lights while driving at night. have checked around and do not see any recall as of yet for this problem.
My 2006 commander stopped accelerating in fact it felt like i was driving against a wind blowing headon faster then i was driving ,then the jeep started jumping like a hick-up then my tail lights stopped working and lower dash lights went out and my warning lights in dash came on,the vehicle stalls out at idle or at start of acceleration not very good took to dealer was told i need a new front control module and new cooling fan ,nwe speed relay costing $1063.00 im not to sure about it and they tell me that it has no recall ?? *tr
Normal start up and driving. all dash lights, head lights, warning lights began blinking on and off very quickly for a few minutes until jiggling the ignition key a few times got all lights to stay on and warning lights to stay off. car continued to run at the 35 miles per hour. gauges were going from 0 to normal readings during this same time period. this has happened several times since this first incident. did not notice quickly enough if the air bag lights were going on and off also but suspect that they were. all were in and out of alarm. *tr
The engine stalls and the head lights fail while my son is driving the car. we have gotten several recall notices. the latest tells us the parts are in and go to the local dealer. no. they don't have the part. we are frustrated and demand we get the ignition switch and lock cylinder replaced. do your part dodger chrystal jeep.
While driving down the road, the entire cluster of instrument warning lights begins to flash intermittently, creating a distraction and safety hazard while driving. in addition, the fuel gauge drops to "e", the speedometer drops to zero and then goes up and down and all gauges go up and down erratically. also, the heated seats turn off as does the fan for the heater/ac unit. verified with local mechanic that this is not related to the ignition switch and is most likely an ecm and/or pcm issue. replaced battery but problem still exists. engine malfunction indicator light comes on for several cycles, computer reboots itself and then the trouble starts again shortly after. this appears to be an ongoing issue with the 06 commander but my vin was not included in the ecm/pcm recall (08v203000) because i have the 6-cylinder rather than the 8 cylinder engine. this is a safety hazard while driving and i just feel fortunate that as of yet, my car is not stalling like so many others. however, i feel my issue is related to this same recall and want to have it on file. *tr
The vehicle will suddenly lose power to the headlights, taillights, instrument panel, speedometer, odometer, and the interior some lights will turn themselves on without cause or warning. in the most recent event, vehicular damage and possible personal injury nearly occurred when driving in the dark, almost striking a utility pole. also, the automatic window control will not function properly when trying to roll up the window itself. it will stop halfway and bring itself back down. it usually takes 3-4 times to roll the window up. this has occurred numerous times, so many that i can't keep track. the local dealership cannot pinpoint the issue and this vehicle is not safe to be on the road. *tr
Interior and exterior lights will intermittently go off and on at the same time. on a freeway at 65mph this is not acceptable. *tr
Driving to work at an intersection. in the midst of turning left on to the road to my work parking lot... my car stalled on me. again, i was in an intersection with on coming traffic. no lights came on (warning lites) no weird sounds , no jerking - just stalled. started back up once i turned the key off and then on again. *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2006 jeep commander. the contact stated that while at a complete stop, the vehicle stalled. the vehicle was taken to the dealer for diagnosis. the technician stated that the wiring in the starter would have to be replaced. additionally, the exterior lighting intermittently failed and the front driver side window intermittently failed while being opened or closed. the vehicle was not repaired. the vin was not available. the approximate failure mileage was 50,000.
There is a serious electrical problem with the suv which started within . the dealers looked at it, i paid for computer diagnostics and still nothing. besides all the lights flashing on and off, the speedometer fluctuating, actually all the instruments going on and off while i am driving; also, the temperature control panel does not light up when the headlights are on. i have never had an automobile with all these electrical problems that no one can fix. please recall this vehicle before someone dies. i try not to drive long distances alone because of this problem. *tr
Electrical dash board blinks while driving, driver's seat moves while driving, when it rains the driver's floor is soaked with water and passenger side floor is wet as well, vehicle jerks while driving. indication lights pops on dashboard sporadically, radio and navigation doesn't work. *tr
I own a 2006 jeep commander ltd. with the 5.7l hemi. date of manufacturer was 06/06. in the past year my commander has began stalling out sporadically while stopped completely. it occurs at any time, night or day, usually only when the engine is cold or cool. the problem occurs when i come to a complete stop at a stop sign, stop light, or any other complete stop in drive or reverse. when i come to a complete stop the rpm's drop and the vehicle stalls out. no warning lights or check engine lights show up on the dash. when it occurs at night all the external vehicle lights turn off, thus making me and my vehicle vulnerable to other traffic. it does not trip a code in the computer so the dealer cannot diagnose the problem. the first time i took my vehicle in for maintenance regarding the problem the dealer recommended i replace the egr valve so i did what they recommended. the problem still occurs. the dealer advised me that they cannot duplicate the problem therefore there is nothing they can do to correct the problem. when my vehicle stalls out it typically will do it 3-5 additional times per trip and it happens at least once per week. i have read that numerous people are having the same problems and jeep has no fix. i am very concerned with this problem because it is unsafe as i was nearly struck by another vehicle. recently i was traveling down the street at night and was preparing to turn left at a stop light. i stopped in the middle of the intersection to wait for the oncoming traffic to pass, when my car stalled out and all of the lights turned off (headlights, running lights, etc) making my vehicle completely invisible to traffic. i was unable to move the vehicle until i placed it in neutral and had to restart the engine and move out of the intersection. please look further into this problem with 2006 jeep commanders as this is not something that should happen. *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2006 jeep commander. the contact stated that while driving at various speeds, all the warning lights illuminated. the headlights also failed intermittently. the failure recurred numerous times over the course of a year. the vehicle was taken to dealer where the contact was informed that the battery would need to be replaced. the vehicle was repaired but the failure recurred. the dealer informed the contact that the failure could not be diagnosed. the manufacturer was notified but offered no assistance. the vehicle had not been repaired. the failure mileage was 50,000 and the current mileage was 72,000.
The lights on my 2006 jeep commander ac/heat panel will not light up since 2011. also my stereo lights, head lights and speedometer lights and other instrument light flicker randomly. my other problem that started in april of 2014 is when i am driving at 55/60 mph a warning message will pop up that reads transmission over temperature. it sometimes goes out on its own while i am still driving and sometimes it will take me to turn the truck off and restart the engine then it will go off. *tr
The headlights begin to flash on and off intermittently. the lights within the instrument control panel are not illuminated and flash as well. i have to manually turn the lights off then turn them back on numerous times to get the flashing to stop. it is a very scary, dangerous, and embarrassing problem when it happens. this has been an ongoing issue for a few years now. the dealer was not notified. there are no recalls or warranties related to the failure. *tr
2006 jeep commander 4x4 trail rated. *tr
Tl*the contact owns a 2006 jeep commander. while driving approximately 60 mph, the vehicle suddenly stalled. the contact pulled over and after several attempts, was able to restart it. the vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer but the failure could not be diagnosed. the contact also stated that the vehicle would experience a hard shift and hesitation when she tried to accelerate. updated 5/9/11 *cn the consumer stated when she attempted to start the vehicle, the ignition key would not start the vehicle, it would take several more times to try and get the vehicle started. also, when acceleration, the vehicle would hesitate and then stall. the transmission was making loud noises when shifting and the transmission light has since illuminated. the tail light lamps seals were broken and water was seeping inside. updated 08/22/11
I currently own a 2006 jeep commander and for about two weeks now i have being having serious problems with my exterior and interior lights flashing on and off i have taken it to the dealership and they keep saying that they do not know what is wrong with it, they cannot find know faults or defects. the lights has being going off while driving at night on the express way with my baby in the vehicle can someone please help me with this issue i fear for my life and the life of my child. i cannot understand how the jeep dealership cannot recognize the problem of one of their vehicles. i are completely lost and confuse. *tr
I purchased the 2006 commander in june 2010. the first 6 weeks i had the vehicle i loved it. the first incident i had with the vehicle was the service park assist warning came on and stayed on for two days, then went off on its own prior to getting an appointment to have it checked. the next incident happened when i was idling in traffic at a stoplight. every indicator light on the dash came on and the vehicle started to stall but did not completely stall out. since that episode i have had issues with the driver side front window and passenger side rear window not functioning properly (at times won't roll up or down from either control). more recently i have had increasing episodes (two to three times per month) of the dash lighting up, headlights dimming and the vehicle losing power (so far always while parked or shifting from park to drive), as well as the service park assist warning and window issues. after hearing of a coworker with a 2007 commander having some of the same issues i began searching the internet and have found numerous complaints of the same issues as mine. i am afraid to drive this vehicle with my children inside in the event that it would stall out on the highway and i would not be able to control it. i spoke with the dealer that sold me the vehicle yesterday and they have agreed to look at it free of charge this morning since there is no warranty on it now, but i still am not sure i want to keep this vehicle any longer. chrysler needs to recall these vehicles and fix this issue. i used to be a die hard jeep fan...but no longer! i am surprised that i have not found any reports of death or serious injury as a result of these electrical issues with this particular model.
Headlights and interior lights shut off while driving at night at highway speed, but the radio remained on and the engine was also working. all the lights on the instrument panel flipped on and then off with the exception of the base esp and the traction control lights, they stayed on. power steering and power brakes were working and if it had not been dark out, could have drove home. the vehicle did come back to normal working order within a few seconds. this record of events happened 3 times within a few minutes at 10 pm and was very scary. i brought the vehicle to the jeep dealership and they replaced the power junction block. they said there were multiple codes they found in the system but the fault that leaped out to them was u0200. *tr
Tl*the contact owns a 2006 jeep commander. the headlights began flashing on and off intermittently. the lights within the instrument control panel are not illuminated. the dealer was not notified. there are no recalls or warranties related to the failure. the failure mileage was 105,000.
During regular drive of the car, i experienced major electrical shut down. it does not happen very often. i noticed that is happening in summer time more often than in winter time. i noticed it for a first time 2 years ago and reported to local service dealer. they told me to keep an eye on it and to tell them if i notice any trend. except for summer/winter, i couldn't notice any other trend. last summer it was happening quite often and after bringing it to the service, they couldn't find cause of the problem. i think they performed some recall firmware update (08v-203 i think) but i still have same electrical problem. i don't have engine stall however. last night (july 3rd 2009) it happen to me for the first time during night and i just realized how serious safety issue it actually is. while driving home with my family, everything in the car (headlights, ac , stereo (except lcd display) all lights on the dashboard (except p r n d gear indication)) went off for a few seconds and came back on. it happened 15-20 times in 30 minutes time frame. at one point after ~10th interruption, check engine light came on (error code u1411). so, all lights disappeared while driving at night putting me and my family at risk of an serious accident. i don't have confidence in this car any more unless there is a permanent fix for this problem. *tr
While driving the dash lights went out and headlights started flashing on and off. took it to dealer and they found no trouble. the vehicle keeps blowing rear tail light bulbs, and blower motor at times does not work on certain speeds. cigarette lighter/power outlets stopped working even though fuse is good. power windows intermittently stop working. the transmission went out around 62,000 miles. had dealer replace transmission and now at 102,000 miles the transmission will loose drive when shifting into 3rd under moderate acceleration. you then have to pull off the road and put the car in park, then back in drive to regain drive. transmission also "surges" under light throttle conditions at low speeds(10-20mph). i have contacted jeep and their response was that because of the mileage on the vehicle they could do nothing. i feel that the flashing lights and the loss of drive while in traffic are major safety issues. i have been researching this vehicle and found may other owners with the exact same problems. *tr
My 2006 jeep commander has headlights that go off randomly. this has a problem from the purchase and has continued. it's never been fixed and this is truly a dangerous situation. *tr
Tl*the contact owns a 2006 jeep commander. she stated that intermittently while driving the head lamps and lights on the instrument control panel failed. the impairment of visibility while driving increased the risk of a vehicle crash. the vehicle was taken to a local repair facility and a mechanic replaced the battery. the failure resurfaced after the vehicle was repaired. she is in the process of having the vehicle inspected and repaired by the dealer. the failure mileage was 55000. the current mileage was 63000.
Reference complaints 10244597, 10247128. today, driving in the rain, lights dimmed and car hesitated, eventually stalling while in motion. while we were at a stop, the car again stalled and took several tries to restart. i no longer drive with the children in the car, and have not since the previous incident at 61k. i have tried contacting jeep through my dealer, with no response. today i sent an email via their website, however, i am not hopeful of any response. this will be the final time i will file a complaint, as i have called the bank and told them to come and get the car. i can only hope that the person who considers purchasing my car, as i am sure another unscrupulous salesman will put the car up for sale, does his or her research and finds the complaints i have filed here and with the pa attorney general's office. *tr
