In heavy rain the sunroof has leaked and created a large puddle of water inside on the front passenger side floor. this incident has now happened twice and when i contacted jeep corporate i was told that it was known issue with some of the jeeps however a recall has not been issued. i again i have to pay to have the leak fixed and have my carpet attended too so that mildew will not become an issue.. please assist
Ignition problem ..dealer replaced ignition due a recall on vehicle, but the problem was not fixed.dash turns off suddenly while driving and car stops suddenly too.have to start it sgain. dealer replaced the ignition switch to prevent this to happen, but it's happening now more than any time. people say that the problem wasn't solved after replacing the ignition.
A window went about 1/3 of the way down and stopped. could not get it to go up or down after that. the vehicle was parked at the time. we wondered if it was the motor. we watched a video on the internet on how to check it and it said to check the wires behind the door panel because it is a common problem for this type of vehicle to have broken wires and low and behold that's exactly what had happened. windows need to open and close.
The seat belt wont latched unless you press down the released button on both driver and passenger. also the panels leaked on passenger side and the top.
My jeep loses power every time i drive it stalls out while driving (scary when it happened on the freeway) at times it stops shifting and then slams like the whole transmission fell out of jeep.
Vehicle filled with smoke while driving and heard a large explosion that shook the seats, pulled over and called emergency services for fire under passenger side rear floor board.
Takata recall as i was driving my car on the four lane my car started to have white rubber smelling smoke fill the car and all my dash lights went crazy, my radio kicked off and my speakers and my turn signals quit working. i started to panic and stopped on the side of the rode. i had my kids in the car so i first removed my children then tried to find the problem. at this point my car was completely full of smoke n it like as if it was burning down. my wiring in the cars passenger side rear floor board had caught on fire ! the fire burnt through my floor and my floor mats. i almost choked to death on the smoke and had to take the battery out of the car to kill the power and dump water on the floor.

When we first got the car it was working like any normal car, however, after less than a month we started to notice a lot of change. the first problem we started to see was the whole screen turned off we are able to play music but only radio station that was saved. we are unable to tune/seek to a new radio station. then we started to notice during the rainy season that water would enter into our car. after many tries of solving this issue, it is still happening to our car. the section where the petals are always wet and we have closed the sunroof and the cover but, nothing seems to work. now today the check engine turn on and also the oil in the dashboard behind the steering wheel. we are worried about the safety of the car and hope to see changes soon from you. thank you for reading the issue we constantly face.
All the lights on my dash panel went on & i lost power of the vehicle driving down the road. it came back on then off & on. this has happened several times. my catalytic converter has broken into a few pieces. the dealership said this happens often to these vehicles & believes there is a recall on them. i have had my vehicle 4 1/2 yrs & this is the 2nd time it needs to be replaced. my struts have gone a few times on my 2006 jeep commander. the rear seatbelt in the middle & driver rear don't latch & when they do its really tight on my daughter. lastly multiple issues with the rear doors both passenger & driver sides. the handles don't work all the time. they have both been fixed 3 different occasions. they open when they feel like it. the child lock is not on.
Vehicle will turn on but shuts off after a few seconds. recalls were fixed
Tl* the contact owns a 2006 jeep commander. while driving 55-60 mph, the rear seat spontaneously caught on fire. there were no warning indicators illuminated. the contact extinguished the fire. afterwards, the horn and radio failed to work and all the instrument cluster warning indicators illuminated. there were no injuries and a police report was not filed. the contact called the local dealer (jake sweeney chrysler jeep dodge ram, 85 w kemper rd, cincinnati, oh 45246, (513) 782-1000) and was informed that the vehicle was not included in a recall. the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. the manufacturer was not contacted. the failure mileage was 260,000.
At 100k with no warning, engine runs hot, i wait for 30 min to cool down.. drive again and it runs hot.. mechanic says head gasket blown..smdh.. along with that it was raining and the sunroof starts leaking. 8 months prior i had to replace the transmission. what a jeep and i am still paying on it.!! the jeep people needs to recall these and at least reimburse people, now im stuck with buying a 5000 engine on a set income...basically couldve bought a brand new car with the funds i put out so far..
While raining water drains into vehicle from sunroof causing electrical problems. lights constantly flickering, dashboard lights constantly turning on and off, interior water damage, rusting inside components. this incident happens constantly forcing me to keep headlights on high beam at all times while the car is stationary as well as in motion on streets as well as highways. this problem causes unnecessary problems being that while the car is going through this the turning signals, wiper blades, air conditioning turn off and on. even though my car was serviced under warranty for rear seatbelts the belts are constantly jamming keeping my children captive and at some points it will not successfully latch.
The vehicle has power failure while driving and while stationary with engine running! the dashboard instrument panel, gauges, lights, hvac, radio, etc. shuts off but the vehicle still runs, and it continues to turn off and on over and over again. also, it occurs whether on a smooth surface in motion or when you hit a bump in the road, and it occurs when the vehicle is sitting still with engine running. it makes you feel like the vehicle is about to shut off. this occurs every time i drive my vehicle, regardless of the location. there is a safety recall for the ignition switch, and i feel this problem may be related to that issue.
Car stalls out when driving or taking turns. also stalls out when car is warming up and nobody is in the car several times. i can feel when i'm driving it also restats it self when i step on the gas pedal.
The door handles have completely disentegrated an the windows no longer operate. the seat belts work intermittently and the door locks unlock an lock at random. the engine starts an stops on it's own. this vehicle was my dream vehicle but now i feel totally endangered by the lack of care and design by jeep. i feel it is a ticking time bomb ready to cause danger at some point to me or my family
Jeep commander 2006 limited 5.7 l engine. the complaint is as follows: while driving, at random, slow and medium speeds, all the dashboard lights activate at one time followed by immediate loss of engine power. (at no time did my knee hit the key or ignition cylinder) this issue does not clear up on its own. the only solution to avoid an accident is to immediately put into neutral, pull off the road or highway as quickly as possible. (at this time, the car is sputtering severely or stalls) next step- turn the key to off position, wait a few seconds and re start the vehicle. it starts and runs normally. the loss of power and dash light activation is occurring every other day. upon my own further investigation, many reports have been logged (with basically the same complaint) on carcomplaints.com, with additional video proof on u tube ( just type in jeep commander dashboard haywire) with several videos of the incident. chyrsler customer care claims ( as of today) to know nothing about it - told me to call local dealer, local jeep dealer (car was purchased new) was contacted- they claim to now nothing about it. told both agencies to get off their butt to look at car complaints.com or just view the numerous u tube videos. with this many complaints, i find it surprising that chrysler to not be aware of this issue. i have followed all recalls and had the ignition lock cylinder and reprogram the final drive control module completed many months before problem occurred. any assistance in resolving this serious safety issue would be greatly appreciated.
My favorite, jeep commander 2006 3.7 v6. 103600 mileage. the car shuts down without warning. this has been happening from last november. i feel like i'm in a death trap because when cars going 60 - 70 mph on i-495 and car lost power. all i can really do is pray that my family don't get killed. the dealer fixed flipping key problem at the same year of summer because of the recall. this is really not related i believe. it happened 6 times mostly winter season between november through january eastern time last year, and this stalling problem came back last sunday dec 10th, 2017 while driving on northern state parkway to micro center in ny. 3 times already this season. the best way only i found for our safety. slowly move over on the shoulder finding place to stop while speeding down, and have one chance of stop to break vehicle without power. however, luckily it starts again and runs normal. the dealer, daimler chrysler consumer center. they never care about this issue and keep charging for the service without a solution. my research is on going to find ecm, pcma, and fcm problems. i am scared for my families safety. the car cuts off while driving on highway. any ideas, please please please please please help us.
Jeep keeps stalling when backing out of driveway and while at idle or at stop sign on city streets.
Tl* the contact owns a 2006 jeep commander. while driving 40 mph, all of the gauges illuminated and the vehicle lost acceleration. the contact was able to drive the vehicle to (jim riehl's friendly chrysler jeep, 32899 van dyke, warren, mi 48093). the dealer stated that the vehicle did not have a recall and the control module and transmission valve body needed to be replaced. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was also contacted and was unable to provide assistance. the failure mileage was 48,987.
1st my car has been having starting issues. the fuel pump was changed twice and that's not the issue.it seems to be coming from the wiring heading into the fuse panel in the engine. when i move it around it starts sometimes. and also when i put black tape around the wires it seems to correct the issues for weeks at a time. the problem is u never know when its gonna start or not. now my engine, traction control and esp/bas warning lights are coming on. when that happens the transmission starts going haywire and feels like its only running on 1 gear plus when i reverse it feels like something grinds in the gears. however when those warning lights go off everything seems to go back to normal. recently all the warning lights came on and the transmission over temp warning came on and my ac stopped blowing cold air and shortly after the car stalled in traffic on the highway. thank god i was able to restart it but then it felt like the car drove all the way home using 2nd gear only in the automatic transmission. from reading other issues people are having online its obvious this model is having major electrical issues that no one seems to be able to correct. i am a jeep lover but this model has completely made it difficult on me since its my only car and its so unreliable. i don't have the means to replace it right now so this situation has been unfortunate for me
Tl* the contact owns a 2006 jeep commander. while driving 65 mph, the vehicle hesitated and stalled. the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who diagnosed that the oxygen sensor failed and needed to be replaced. the vehicle was repaired; however, the failure recurred and all the instrument cluster indicators illuminated. the vehicle was taken to marshall chrysler dodge jeep ram (140 spears ln, crittenden, ky 41030) where it was diagnosed that the speed sensor failed and needed to be replaced. the vehicle was repaired, but the failure recurred. the dealer was in the process of attempting to repair the vehicle again. the manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. the vin was included in nhtsa campaign number 14v438000 (electrical system). the approximate failure mileage was 140,000.
All door handles are broken and have become in operable from the inside of the vehicle. also when starting the jeep it will run for a few seconds and then shut off. after starting you can shift to drive and it puts you in drive 3 them it will quit. when u start and it shift into drive the jeep will remain running.
Tl* the contact owns a 2006 jeep commander. while driving 35 mph, the vehicle stalled without warning. the vehicle was taken to three unknown dealers, but the cause of the failure could not be determined. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure. the contact stated that there was an ignition switch recall repair performed on the vehicle. directly after the repair, the vehicle exhibited the failure. the recall details were not provided. the failure mileage was 153,000.

While driving the service rear park assist message came on and the check engine light came on. when this happens all the lights around the transmission letters on the dashboard start to flash and the transmission starts to slip. this happens when you accelerate. have had vehicle at the dealership for 3 weeks now and have had no solution to the problem . am very concerned about transmission slipping when pulling into traffic.
The gear indicator has the prnd and it indicates what gear you are in. when you try to drive the car it indicates that it is in all gears. when it does this it stumbles really badly. you have to put it back to drive to drive normal. it can happen about 3 times a day. right after it happens the check engine light comes on for about 3 days. i have searched online and at least 50 other people with a 2006/2007 jeep commander have the same problem. some people say it happens to them (all gears light up) while they are driving. this causes their vehicle to not accelerate or "jerk" back and forth. they have to pull over and start the car again and the check engine lights up. it doesn't matter if i warm it up for over 10 minutes it will still do it when i put it on reverse or drive. i am worried it will get worse and happen like the other people online when i'm driving or on the freeway. online many people write about this problem with their 2006/2007 jeep commander. many don't know what it is.
Problem with ignition switch causes dash not to work and car not to be able to start most of time. key does not stay in proper position in ignition. vehicle is stationary and in motion when this happens while driving on city streets. *tr
My vehicle stalls and cuts off when stopped at stop signs and traffic lights. the engine also shakes and acts as if it wants to die while driving. i took my vehicle in for recalls after i left the service center it once again cut off at the first stop light i came to. *tr
2006 jeep commander 4x4 dies at low speed. almost caused accident on freeway. had the ignition recall taken care of. hoping that it was the problem. it was not... now trying to sell vehicle and don't want to cuz i would have to have someone else get hurt. in that death trap the jeep now sits in my side yard my wife refuses to drive it. i'm looking for any ideas on what to do? please help
The vehicle stalls in motion on both residential and highway and loses power steering. cruise control once you set it acceleration occurs on its own this occurred on the highway. ignition bumps out of the on position into accessory or off on it's own.
My car will not start. this has happened several times before, and there has been no explanation as to why this happens.
Seat belt warning chime continually sounds when front driver or passenger seat belts are latched, the seats are occupied, and the vehicle is in motion.
2006 jeep commander randomly will not start. battery tests fine...took it to the dealer and paid over $400 and the replaced the starter and yellow solinoid cable which brings power to the starter. still will not start occasionally. the dash lights up, but the engine doesn't turn over...wait 5 minutes and it may start at other times it won't. very frustrating, because it is random...may go a week starting fine, and then suddenly it won't start. sometimes this happens first thing in the morning, sometimes only after short 5 minute trips to the store, and sometimes after long trips. also, i already had the ignition switch replaced due to recall.
My jeep didn't pull correctly, it back fire and wind. we took it to chrysler to get it fix. the mechanic told us that the solenoid went bad... so were charged $405 for a converter, $357 for a solenoid, $7.75 for a sealer, and $3.60 for a nut none... total labor and parts $1930.31... today we go to pick it up, and it still makes the same noise and the problem worsen. we left it there to be fixed again... at the moment we are out of $2000, no car, and then had the nerve to tell me it was something else wrong with my car and it'll be $800 more to fix it. needless to say, i told them i wanted to speak with the owner, he said he'll call me back.. not even two minutes later, he goes... "we'll take care of it...

The ac/heater control until has a short when you push the breaks it goes off. plus it has affected my nav/radio system. i am afraid that my vwhicle is going to catch on fire. you can hit a bump while driving and it will work. the nav/radio system will turn on when it wants but as soon as you put the vehicle in reverse or tap the breaks it goes off. sometimes it smells like burnt plastic on the control panel where the ac/heater is located. i have spoke with the local jeep dealership near me. they will not look at it without wanting to charge me an outrageous prices. this is not my fault and the local dealership is acting like i made a mistake and tore up my vehicle. i can get no answer out of them.
For the passed 3 years our vehicle has switched gears from drive to 3rd gear, while driving. the vehicle jolts and changes gear for a few months and returns back to normal. we continue to use it at 3rd gear. there is no way to change it back to drive manually. we've taken it in to auto shops and the symptoms return. *tr

Intermittently will not start. turn key on, get a half crank, then nothing. after 5-10 minutes of trying, it will finally start. had an ignition recall, which the service was performed by jeep dealer. they also replaced the starter. still having the issue after having it looked at 4 times. they cannot replicate the issue when it is in the shop, so they cannot find any problem with it. purchased the vehicle used in 09/15 and have been having the issue ever since.
Vehicle was in motion and car shut down as turning right at street light. had to restart car. driver side door interior handle is broken. cannot open door. dash lights do not work, radio volume goes up as you are turning the controls down. frame is rusted...told would be rusted through in another year. car has 125,000 miles on it. i'm the only owner. normal driving, no off road travel.
I have a 2006 jeep commander 4.7. last month after coming home from another state, the car parked for several days while i was out of town it would not crank when i went to start it... just the clicking sound. my boyfriend jumped it and it overheated his cable. then it happened after sitting just overnight, same scenario. i did not leave anything on like lights, etc. i had the battery checked and it was fine. it began to happen more frequently (several nights in a row). took it into a dealer and he replaced a few parts but nothing changed. then the battery started draining after sitting for 15 minutes with the ignition off. took it to a friend who's an auto mechanic, he said something was discharging from somewhere.
Regardless of distance traveled, outside temperature, the 'transmission over temp' message appears on the dash. had coolant flushed 2x but message still appears intermittently. had mechanic look at more than a few times, however could not replicate message and thus no resolution/fix to problem. jeep recently had ignition switch recall completed (thought that would never happen) but 'transmission over temp' would occur prior to that recall being completed. thought the two were connected somehow. main concern is the engine does not overhear, temp reads below middle mark but when transmission message appears, after a few minutes, transmission feels 'off' or jumpy. something is definitely happening. not safe to drive, not confident taking it on long trips because of possible damage that may occur, not to mention being stranded. this is my girlfriends truck and i'm not comfortable having her drive too far, especially in the evening. his is inconvenient because we take care of our vehicles, this truck has low miles, 62,000. would really like to resolve this because we love the trick but cannot trust taking it on trips, towing our boat which was the original purpose of having truck. what a stressful vehicle to have. very dissatisfied with this truck. again, the transmission over temp would occur intermittently, on the highway at times, in traffic, small trips, after sitting parked after a short trip, message reappears once truck is started again. no rhyme of reason to this.
