I was driving home from work one night and all the dash lights come on and the vehicle completely stalled in the middle of the highway. i had to attempt to pull over and switch the key off and back on to restart the engine. i also have been at a stop multiple times and turn out into the road and my vehicle won't go, which could result in me getting hit. i also had my recall 'fixed' for the power train, went back because i received another letter saying it was possibly not fixed and it still tells me the problem was not fixed on my vehicle. i cannot use cruise control on my vehicle because when it goes down the slightest hill, curve, whatever, the rpms go all the way up and just sit there, even when i have turned off the cruise control and braked it still stays shifted up for a long time. i regret purchasing this vehicle, especially with a baby on the way any day now and her safety being at risk. we are in the process of finding another vehicle.
Jeep only has 30000 miles. bought brand new. car recently started stalling when slowing down. apparently jeep designed the engine to stall with low oil. took car to dealership and they said this is a known issue and that the 4 cylinder jeep consumes more oil and an oil change will need to be every 3000 miles on a brand new car. there is a large amount of similar complaints from other people online and eventually leads to an engine replacement. not only is the oil consumption outrageous for a new car but the stalling is completely unsafe as we have an 11 month old.
My car make a humming noise like it's trying to catch up while driving it stalls and sometimes while driving the car engine goes dead i have to keep pushing start button about 3 times to restart i took a picture of light that comes on and also another car backed into my car when car went dead it's very dangerous been to dealership several times they said everything was ok they even told me to take pictures of lights when it happens like i'm lying and i did even thought all pictures are time stamp.i can't afford uber and car note i need help.this happens on freeway highway side street anytime no warning.
To whom it may concern, my name is [xxx] . i am contacting you for concerns of my newly purchased 2019 jeep cherokee. i would appreciate it if someone could contact me about my engine stalling while operating the vehicle. i have concerns of this vehicle causing safety issues while in motion the vehicle stalled on a major highway loosing complete control and barely made it out of the road way tmwith no warning there was no engine lights or beeping. while having my family in it. my phone number is [xxx]. thank you, [xxx] information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6). *tr
While driving the suv shuts off completely. no engine power, no lights, no steering. this has happened 6 times leaving the suv in the dark with no lights with children int he car. the suv shuts down while in motion, at 45mph speeds on county roads and at high speed 70 mph + on turnpike. i am scared for my life. dealer is not helping me. i put the last date in. it happened 6 times.
I was in an automatic car wash and after it was finished my jeep would not engage into drive from neutral. i had the automatic engine shut down turned off. i tried multiple time from shifting from neutral into drive. i also restarted my jeep twice and on the second time it started and i could drive away.
On dec 19th of 2019 i was leaving work when i made a right turn during busy traffic when my 2019 jeep cherokee suddenly stalled on me. i had to pull over and restart the car. the car did turn back on. after speaking with my local dealer, they told me that the car was almost out of oil however no light was on then or at the time of the stall. i was informed this is a 'safety' feature to prevent the engine from hurting itself if the oil gets too low. an oil consumption test was started. the car only had 12590 miles at the time of the incident. this is also the second oil test that has been done the first one was done back in may of 2019 when the car was at around 6000 miles.
Engine is shutting off for no reason. dealer says it is low oil sensor shutting it down. first time the dealer just filled it with oil. the second time i brought it in they pretended not to remember the first time it happened and claimed to have no paperwork on it as they claimed they just topped it off with oil. i signed in on their computer so they must have the records of me being there, they gave me no paperwork the second time just told me to drive 1000 miles and they would recheck the oil.
This has happened multiple times to my vehicle. it first happened at roughly 6,000 miles and is now happening again at 12,000 miles. each time, when i was coming due for an oil change. the vehicle will stall out in the middle of the road as i come to a stop. sometimes it will restart, but other times i have to jump it. this will happen at a complete stop as i'm trying to get going again or as a i am slowing to a stop. it will happen on any road at any time whether going straight or turning.
Tl* the contact owned a 2019 jeep cherokee. after the vehicle had been driven for approximately seven minutes, it caught fire after being parked for five minutes. the fire department was contacted and was able to extinguish the fire. the vehicle was destroyed. a fire report was filed. the contact stated that several weeks before the fire, she noticed a burning odor coming from under the hood of the vehicle. the vehicle was scheduled to be towed from the scene, which was still pending. haselwood auto group (950 w hills blvd, bremerton, wa 98312, (360) 362-5848) was contacted by phone and several pictures of the vehicle were sent via text message. the manufacturer was not informed of the failure. the cause of the failure was not determined. the approximate failure mileage was 2,499. *ln*jb*dt*jb*dt consumer stated she thought a rodent got into the engine.*jb
Tl* the contact owns a 2019 jeep cherokee. while driving the vehicle, it completely shut off and the brakes, power steering, and lighting failed to work. the failure occurred while driving around a moderate incline. the contact guided the vehicle and stopped at the edge of a driveway. the vehicle eventually restarted after approximately five attempts. the manufacturer was called and advised the contact to take the vehicle to the dealer for diagnostic testing. the contact also stated that all the instrument panel gauges went dark a few weeks ago. the dealer had not been contacted yet and was an hour away from the contact's residence. the contact researched the failures online and found many complaints about the same matter. the vehicle had previously been repaired per an unknown recall to reprogram the power modules, which was when the recent failures began. the failure mileage was 31,000.
Tl* the contact owns a 2019 jeep cherokee. while driving approximately 15 mph, the vehicle stalled, lost braking and steering ability, and the battery warning indicator illuminated. the contact wait a few seconds and the vehicle restarted normally. the contact stated that the failures occurred five other times. the vehicle was taken to medina chrysler jeep (3205 medina rd, medina, oh 44256) where it was determined that it was normal for the vehicle to consume an excessive amount of oil. the dealer further stated that if the owner did not keep track of the oil consumption, "it was normal for the engine to seize". the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the contact was advised to read the owner's manual on how to maintain oil consumption for that type of engine. the approximate failure mileage was 29,995.
I purchased a 2019 jeep cherokee trailhawk on 11/11/2019. that same evening the instrument cluster, uconnect, and lights all cut out while i was driving down the road. this caused the engine control to be cut and dtc's for brakes, esc, transmission, and the shifter. thankfully the first few times this happened on a street with heavy traffic during rush hour and i was able to restart the vehicle. it happened again on the second day while in motion on a side road and again the third day except while driving on the highway. after the third day, i scheduled it for service at a local jeep dealer. upon having my vehicle for five days, the dealer discovered a corroded/faulty ground and made the necessary repairs. the vehicle was picked up on 11/18/2019. it drove great until 11/20/2019 when the power once again was cut from the instrument cluster, uconnect, and lights. this also resulted in a loss of engine control with the same array of dtc codes being displayed and also occurred while driving. i was able to safely pull off the road and restart the vehicle. thankfully this happened roughly a mile from the dealer and i was able to limp the jeep there. they checked the codes and advised me to bring the vehicle back in the morning. on 11/21/2019 i returned the jeep to the dealer where it is currently being worked on again. this vehicle is an extreme danger to not only myself but to other motorists that could potentially collide with me due to the random and unpredictable nature of the issue. i am so concerned about the safety of the vehicle that i will not allow my children to ride in my vehicle with me.
I bought my jeep on december 12, 2018 from jt's jeep in lexington sc. at roughly 400 miles, the start/stop system light illuminated and displayed a message for service.i parked the jeep and shut it off, and restarted. worked fine after that. at roughly 1,600 miles, it did the same thing again. same procedure. went away. at 7,500 miles i took it in for service and they checked and said nothing was wrong. at 8000 miles i was merging onto the interstate in columbia sc and started to accelerate and it lost all power; power steering, acceleration, braking, and displayed a message of "electrical system fault" i managed to get it off the road and restarted, drove to ga fine. i scheduled an appointment with the local chrysler dealer here in ga, they kept it an entire week and claimed nothing was wrong. but that they fixed a recall that would remedy the issue. it has not. it has done this again and again, sometimes completely locking down, other times just illuminating the auto start stop service light. i am terrified of my vehicle. i bought it brand new because i needed a safe, reliable vehicle. it has been anything but. it currently has just over 10,000 miles. i have photographic proof of the times it has went haywire.
I just purchased this vehicle 3 days ago with 17,600 miles. , i have been experiencing the vehicle cut off when at a stopped position even if the gears are in drive. today i attempted to turn on the vehicle but showed no sign of power, i waitied and tried again. once i got the vehicle to run the check engine light came on. i do know there was a recall for this exact same issue and my vehicle seems to not have been repaired.
Engine stalled as i was accelerating when making a turn. warning on the dash said that the vehicle cannot be shifted while moving, but i hadn't touched the shifter- it was locked in drive. this is the second occurrence of this type of engine stall in 4 months. the first time i only had 1200 miles on the car, this time 3400 miles. when engine quit i lost power steering. engine restarted ok.*dt the consumer stated the message on the dashboard display that the car can't shift to park while it's moving and engine has stall, hadn't touched the shift lever. *tp
Stalling in the engine and knocking into the engine. there is also a stall upon acceleration.
Twice this week my car has suddenly died while driving it and would not start back up, battery light comes on. i have had to wait before trying to start again and got it started by pushing the gas down while turning the key. luckily i have been on my dirt driveway both times. i'd be terrified if this happened on a busy highway, i'm getting more and more disappointed with this vehicle.
My jeep isn't even a year old, and my jeep has failed five oil assumption tests. i go back to the dealer every 1,000 miles and it burns two and a half quartz of oil within 1,000 miles! it doesn't leak, it burns.
This is the 2nd time the 2019 jeep cherokee completely lost power and shut off while driving. all warning dash lights came on after pulling off the road put in park and restart. warning says tran need svc. acc/fcw limited functionality. frontend and rear collision disabled. the shifter is loud and clunky when putting in gear. dealership said when it happened 3months ago there was nothing they could find wrong. please help b4 it shuts off and someone gets hurt. thank you
When driving my car, the car hesitates as i turn corners, the car shakes when you start it up and most importantly the car cut off while i was driving along a busy street. i was in rush hour traffic and was almost rear ended because of it. this same issue happened in either october or november. i made an appointment, i spoke to the person at the dealership and they told me i probably needed an oil change. i googled the vehicle and found there was a recall that would cause the same problems i was having. i presented to the dealer they said they didn't know about it but it was supposedly resolved. almost one year later i'm having the same issue. it's dangerous. i spoke with the dealership and they said the engine was designed to cut off to protect the engine if the oil is low. the engine in these cars are a 2.4 tiger shark engine. the dealer replaced it with a 2.4 multi-air engine, power the dealer this should solve the problem of the engine burning an an excessive amount of oil. both 2.4 engines are designed to shut off if there is a low amount of oil. that is a safety issue that a car would shut off in the middle of driving to protect itself but that doesn't protect the driver/passengers it actually puts them in harms way.*dt *as
Tl* the contact owns a 2019 jeep cherokee. while the vehicle was stopped at a traffic light, it hesitated, sputtered, and did not accelerate several times. the vehicle was very hot on the driver's side by the contact's feet. baxter chrysler dodge jeep ram lincoln (6601 telluride dr, lincoln, ne 68521, (402) 817-7449) advised the contact to drop off the vehicle and pick up a loaner. the manufacturer was not contacted. the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. the failure mileage was 1,348.
While driving this morning at 70 mph my 2019 jeep cherokee 2.0 turbo lost all power, power steering and power brakes. i fought to pull it off the road. right when it stalled out the message center stated "auto start/stop not available" and the auto start/stop light illuminated along with the battery light. the 'd' drive indicator on the dash was blinking. upon stopping and placing the vehicle in park, it turned over but would not start. i placed the vehicle in neutral, and nothing. the car acted as if it were in auto stop as the door chime dinged when the door was open and headlights were off (push button start). locking the vehicle left the dash lit up like it was running. chrysler had it towed to the local dealership where it is waiting to be looked at. had my wife been driving this when it happened she might not have been able to pull to the side of the road with no power steering or brake assist.
This has happened on two occasions once on the highway in traffic and yesterday 8/28/19. both times while the car was in drive sitting in traffic the car would stop and the parking brake will engage and after following the instructions on the dash the brake will not cut off. both times i had to put my car in park in the middle of traffic to turn it completely off and restart it. i bought this car last october 12th, this has been a known issue with chrysler per your site since october 19th of last year. it states chrysler was supposed to reach out to purchasers regarding this issue and now almost a year later i have heard nothing. it's completely unacceptable and i risk my life everyday i step foot in this car.
Takata recall this morning 8/26/19 we were driving up a hill at a light in rush hour traffic and the car just stopped and completely cut off while still in drive. we attempted to turn the car back on, but the only thing working were the brakes. realizing it had stalled,we attempted repeatedly for about 5 mins and were able to turn the car back on. the only light that flashed was the battery light. dealership said there is no recall and wants $80 for the diagnostic test. took it elsewhere and no codes came back. problem still remains an issue.
My 2019 jeep cherokee trailhawk has been in the shop for the second time since dec 14 for electrical problems. attached is my 10/27/19 letter to chrysler describing the problem. basically car cuts off without warning while driving (even on freeway) and have to drift to a stop and attempt to restart car several times before it starts up.
Tl* the contact owns a 2019 jeep cherokee. while driving 45 mph, the battery and electronic throttle control indicators illuminated and the vehicle stalled. the contact was close to home and managed to restart the engine after a few minutes to drive home. the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. the dealer was not contacted. the manufacturer was contacted. the failure mileage was 16,467.
When slowing to a stop, my car's engine shut off and the car displayed the battery warning light. i was able to restart the car without issue after a few seconds.
Car turned off while driving due to low oil pressure. the vehicle was only4,000 miles into the oil change. no warning the car was turning off, and i was in the middle of a very busy road when it turned off. this design is a flaw and one that will cause serious accidents.
The engine shuts off without warning when oil level runs low. however, there is no indicator showing oi level is low. car was driven just 3500 miles from date of purchase and engine has a confirmed oil consumption issue. this oil consumption issue is a known defect and engine is designed to shut off automatically without warning while the car is in motion!
Vehicle hesitates when accelerating, causing a lag in motion. have had issues where lack of acceleration has placed my wife and i into a dangerous situation of being in an accident, like when trying to merge in traffic. this has been happening since my wife bought the vehicle in november, 2018. took in to the jeep dealer in colorado springs and was told that nothing could be done until jeep decides to issue a software update. have seen similar complaints (hundreds of them) posted on nhtsa and carcomplaints.com . chrysler/jeep needs to address this problem before someone is injured or killed.
My vehicle stalls upon acceleration z i've been told it was bad gas as well as needing an oil change, but the problem continues. *bf consumer stated my current mileage is right at 15,000. i first noticed the stall issue shortly after purchasing the vehicle in july of 2018. i received a notice of a recall that could cause the vehicle to stall. it required reprogramming and that was done in october. i have noticed the stalling at various times since then. my last oil change was in april at just under 10,000. i go by the oil life indicator on my instrument panel and i had it changed when i had about 15% left on my oil life. there is not chime or warning that pops up when the stall happens. i am usually accelerating after having to slow down or stop. the rpms redline, but the vehicle feels like i am pushing the brakes. it will then "kick in" and accelerate at a high speed even if i'm barely pressing the gas pedal*jb
I noticed a lag in a increase in speed & stalling in the engine when the vehicle is in operation.
The vehicle decides to reverse in park and in drive while operating the vehicle on the road. the shifting is hard calibration and chugs. the engine has stalled in the middle of driving and completely turned itself indefinitely off. while driving into the parking space the vehicle has numerously and spontaneously decided to reverse in park. the same has happened in drive. the auto engine shut off doesn't work properly as the computer gets confused as to which gear it is in when it starts up. the radio likes to turn itself once in a while so i'd say thats mechanical although the least of my worries. i recently experienced parking in my front yard .. the "d" starts blinking in drive and the vehicle starts indefinite reversing...... this suv also has bad fuel efficiency getting 12 mile per gallon on freeway and road. not safe.

Engine stalls intermittently while in motion turning left and intermittent delay between pushing the gas pedal and having acceleration start when traveling at moderate speed. engine already replaced under warranty with the same symptoms occurring. engine replaced at 5k miles, symptoms repeating at 8k miles. *dt*jb
Vehicle with 23 k miles with oil consumption and coolant problems, with no indicator warning of low oil or coolant level. this vehicle could shut off with no warning, which could cause an accident. this is a brand new vehicle that now will have to go through oil consumption program. according to numerous online complaints, this issue has been ongoing. this could be a potentially huge safety issue that needs to be addressed and/or recalled immediately.
Slowed down before an intersection and when i accelerated, the engine quit and i lost power steering in the middle of the intersection. have had the car for only one month, 1200 miles on it. this is a dangerous situation.
This vehicle is using 4 qt of oil for ever 3800 miles traveled. it has a capacity of 5.5 qts. the oil warning light does not come on when the oil is low. my experience with this is when i was making a hard left turn the car shut off while driving on a busy 3 lane roadway. when this happens, all the warning lights blink such as oil, battery, transmission. i had to put the vehicle in park and restart the engine. the car was brand new. only 3800 miles on it. when i called the dealer they said to check the oil. it was 4 qts low. this has happened again just recently at 19990 miles on the vehicle.
Brand new jeep rail hawk 34 miles at time of purchase 410 miles knock sensor and check engine 1812 miles etc and map sensor 2325 miles etc the last two times lost all throttle and no power going up vail pass in co. almost rear ended by a semi and had to pull over on the shoulder, limp mode.
On 6/8/2019, i pulled through my gate, left the vehicle in park to close the gate which takes a few seconds. my vehicle completely shut down. restarted, ac was off, audio also off. drove for about 35 miles, made 2 stops, all ok. next leg of trip approx 20 miles, coming into another town and approaching traffic light. at the light as i stopped, the vehicle again shut down in drive at the stop light in considerable amount of traffic. this was not the auto stop/start, it shut down again. had to put in park, it did restart, and again, ac off, audio off. proceeded to my next stop where the vehicle tried to shut down as i pulled into parking spot, i was able to complete parking. upon returning to the vehicle, it started, but now have back up camera failure which has not worked since that episode. this was terribly dangerous as i was in a lot of traffic and was helpless until i got it to restart.
Vehicle randomly stalled while driving. had oil changed by dealer very recently. unknown cause. based on recalls for related vehicles, possibly caused by faulty transmission or electrical system. occurred after stopping at a stop sign, and then accelerating up to 45 mph on a busy road. shortly after accelerating, the touchscreen went out, the vehicle stalled, and the battery light came on. was luckily able to pull off on a small area at the side of the road to let other cars pass. was only able to get going again after turning off the engine and restarting it.
I purchased a 2019 jeep cherokee and in less than 3,000 miles the car broke down. it gave no indication, just completely shut off while i was driving in the middle lane of a fast-paced highway and almost killed me. the dealership told me it was low on oil and they assumed since the car was so new then maybe it hadn't been properly filled. as the vehicle approached 6,000 miles, the issue occurred again and the car was stalled in the left lane of a small road, blocking traffic. now they tell me that there was a defect with the engine and that it is burning too hot and, therefore consuming the oil at a fast rate. i can't tell you how shell shocked i was to have my brand new jeep vehicle stall twice on me in the middle of traffic and had no idea how dangerous the motor was. i have spent a significant amount of time and energy trying to get this vehicle fixed as well as not having a mode of transportation as it stays in the shop for i don't know how long. bottom line, i would like to hear from you directly about what my rights are as a consumer regarding this issue and the lemon that we leased. i want to know what your company does to make things right for their customers. i am a lifelong chrysler buyer, have been very loyal as a customer, but the treatment i have received so far from the dealership and throughout this entire process has been extremely disheartening.
The engine would complete shut off while in motion and require me to fully remove the key and restart the vehicle in order to get to a safe location. happened multiple times and the dealership service center can't find the problem with it.
Just purchased vehicle 3 days ago. has 3,300 miles on it. every time i've driven it today, the radio volume and reception fades in and out. on every channel. i don't live or drive in remote areas, so it is not a signal issue. i enjoy listening to music while driving, but this was so annoying that i rode home in silence. the fade in and out happens regardless of motion of the vehicle or volume i turn it up to.
After an intersection stop and starting to accelerate during a right turn and car in motion, the car engine stalled. the dashboard showed 0 rpm and just the battery indicator on. park over the road shoulders, i could start the engine again after 2 attempts. this has happened 3 times as of now, 2 times last week (may 10 and may 11 2019). went to the jeep dealer in pineville, charlotte, nc. they suppose executed the work order for the safety recall u86 (nhtsa recall number 18v-523) on may 11. but today (may 13 2019) the car did exactly the same in the same intersection like the first time. car has only 4,250 miles. consumer stated i went to the dealership as i saw "oil pressure" error message on the dashboard and noticed abnormal low engine oil level, having just 4,000 miles. during the recall service, they suppose checked all levels including the most important one: engine oil. so, after a oil change and oil level replenishment, the jeep cherokee is working well since then. consumer took the vehicle to another dealer to get oil change.*jb
First incident took place yesterday when slowing down to stop. the car died and i lost power steering and everything went blank. i sat for 10 minutes due to not starting up. it sounded like a grinding noise when i went to turn it over. after starting it back i took it to the dealership. they stated it was a recall and it was fixed. well this morning i went to slow down at a stop sign when i went to accelerate the car died, i was stuck in 4 lanes of traffic. i finally got the car restarted and took it back to the dealership. they stated that they changed my oil and could tell that in looking into the issue that's what it is. they are going to keep the car over the weekend and let me know. however my friend has the same 2019 and her car has done the same thing after an oil change. something has to be done before someone gets killed.
While operating my 2019 jeep cherokee the vehicle has stalled while in motion on 3 occurrences. each time it stalled the vehicle was unable to be restarted. it has had to be pushed out of traffic to a safer location and then taken back to the dealership. multiple repairs have been made by the dealership to the fuel system with an assurance that the problem is resolved. the problem is still on going. this is a serious safety issue that occurs without warning in a moving or accelerating vehicle and will result in an accident. my family does not feel safe in this vehicle. the vehicle is < 60 days old and < 3000 miles.
When my vehicle is in motion, driving through city streets, and i try to apply the break it accelerates instead. the rpm's will reach 4000 or 5000 and hold there. i was told by chrystler to apply the gas quickly then break when this happens to stop my vehicle. this is unsafe and i do not feel comfortable in my own car. i also have an issue with the engine making a knocking sound at times, and the radio fades in and out, with that feature turned off, as well as shutting completely down and resetting itself. prior to the recall in nov of 2018 this same vehicle from one week of purchase would stall while i was driving through city streets. all of these things happen at a speed of 35 or less. the car went from stalling to after recall update it is now accelerating when trying to stop. the dealer has not been able to replicate and chrystler either so they are saying there is nothing wrong with the vehicle. i do not feel safe in my own car. i am worried there will be a time i will not be able to stop the car before causing an accident.
Issue started at 3,500 miles. when making a right or left turn a chime would go off and the battery or engine light would come on, the d for drive would flash on the console, and vehicle was basically stalled. trying to accelerate did nothing. had to turn car off and back on. dealership said it was low on oil and car went into self-preservation mode. happened two more times before i hit 7,500 miles. dealer kept adding oil each time. was told this engine had a harder than normal break in period up to 7,500 miles. was told to come back for oil change in another 5,000 miles. oil was checked at 1,000 and 2,000 miles and was not low. at 4,100 miles the issue started again and happened three times driving to work and then once going to the dealer. the jeep is back at the dealership.
